Each letter was written as a different text, making sure to blow up the poor boy's phone. Surely, he would! And, if not, a text like that would be enough to trigger the memory! Hopefully! Well, that seemed friendly enough! But, the blonde wasn't quite done! So, now the twins waited on the outskirt of the forest, to see if their 'companion' would be joining them! "Y'know you probably didn't have to send that last text, right?" To this, the red-eyed sibling received a cheerful "mhm!" from her twin, who nodded and continued to play on her phone. "Then why bother? I wouldn't even answer that spam of texts." "Yes, you would," Evie pointed out, matter-of-fact. "You usually answer before I finish spelling your name!" Ah, so this was a common greeting from the prim and proper teen! The response was an irritated groan, while her sister crossed her arms. "Because otherwise my phone never stops notifying me! Remember that time you crashed my phone? It died every time I turned it on!" A small giggle came from the not-so-innocent sibling, while she continued whatever game she was playing on her own device. "It was only ninety nine texts. I'm just disappointed I didn't make it to one hundred before you stopped me!" She would just have to try it again sometime while Elsie was showering, or something. "Plus, I'm not trying to crash anyone's phone today! I just want to make sure we aren't standing here for two hours." Valid 'excuse'! "Uh huh, right," Elsie huffed, leaning her back against one of the nearby trees. "Let's just see if that actually works out for you, or not." Elliot and Isaac Sunderland

As a rather digitally aware person, Elliot pretty much always had his phone by his side. It helped that unlike Isaac, who tended to mute it so he could focus, his ringtone was pretty much always on at full blast so he could get to important business as quickly as possible. It was a combo that was usually to his benefit, making sure he could game or study his nights away without losing touch with those important to him.
Today, it meant having the World of Warcraft "looking for group" sound echo in his ear at least three times in a row, jostling the poor boy out of a rare instance of napping. He almost sprang out of his bed from the shock of it all. However, he had managed to catch himself just in the nick of time, his good leg locking him to the side of the bedframe while he gripped the sideboard with one free hand. The other promptly snagged his phone to take a look at who was texting him.
E v i e ?
Now there was somebody Elliot was happy to hear from! Maybe a little too happy, considering the rather confusing way that their last day shared had ended. But regardless of the rather odd outcome of that day, he was all too happy to play along with her texting ridiculousness. The goofiness of it all was a little bit infectious, and he found himself smiling as he tried to find out just what she was asking him for.
Apparently, she wanted him to come to the woods to play with her yoga ribbons. Elliot took a brief look at his bad leg, figuring that if Elsie could get tangled up in those ribbons earlier he and his leg would stand no chance. However, even if he ended up looking hilariously uncoordinated, it could've also been fun. Maybe it would've been worth a shot!
Especially since Evie's next text confirmed he didn't have an actual choice in the matter.
Sure thing! I'll be right over, he texted, quickly rolling off of his bed to freshen up and speed off to the woods. They weren't too far form home, and when Elliot had a pep in his step he was surprisingly good at getting from Point A to Point B Surely, he'd be there in no time!
Or, at least, that's what he thought. After what would amount to 30 minutes of waiting, Evie would find herself getting another text.
Wait, I forgot to ask.
What part of the forest are you in again?

The blonde gave a small giggle while looking at her responses from Elliot. It was even better that the boy agreed to join their games with no resistance! Maybe, he knew it was futile! Or not. Evie didn't really care. She won, regardless.
After a short wait, Evie hummed and looked up to her sibling. "He never asked where to meet us," she pointed out, with a tight-lipped smile. How long would it take for the inevitable question?
"Maybe he's hoping he can get lost and not find us?" Elsie suggested, with a shrug. Leaning her head back against the tree that she had claimed, the teen looked up at the trees. "If he's not home, we can't drag him here, am I right?"
This warranted a small puff of the cheeks, and a pouty 'hmph!' from her sibling, before the cellular device pinged with the well-awaited question. "There it is!" Evie chimed in response to the text. And, with a few taps of the screen, and a message that asked permission to share locations, a little map would be sent to Elliot, giving him a rough estimate of the distance between him and her.
Soon, a text would follow stating, Outskirts of forest, somewhat near the Society Hill area. If you can't find us with that, we'll find you.
Peering over her sibling's shoulder, Elsie added a dull, "if he can't find us with a literal map, he needs more help than we can give 'im." Mean? Yes. True? Also yes. But Elliot wasn't dumb! He could surely read a map on a phone!
Right?

It didn't take long for Elliot to agree to share locations with Evie, a decision that Piper would've likely met with a hearty facepalm. Fortunately, rather than any stalking, Evie simply offered to share a map with him. Elliot grinned as he saw it, firing off a quick Thanks! before making his way in the direction that the map indicated.
Compared to the Digital World, he was a little bemused to realize that human nature had lost some of its luster. Sure, it was still really nice in the forest! But the trees didn't literally scrape the sky, with iridescent leaves that you could practically see the data flowing beneath. In addition, Earth's biomes were so spread out by little things like time, money, and distance, whereas the Digital World's adventures seemed to be little more than a train ride or dragon flight away. It was a cliche as hell thought to have, but Elliot figured it was almost like being in a real life video game.
He just wished it didn't always come with such horrifying danger.
Nevertheless, now wasn't time to focus on the Digital World. He was about to see his human friends in the human world, and he was going to have a good, safe time. And sure enough, with the help of Evie's rather easy-to-decipher map Elliot could see them right up ahead.
"Hey, guys!" he chirped, waving to the twins as he made his way over to them. "Ready to get that ribbon set all put up?"

Once Elliot came into sight, Elsie uttered, "he actually showed up." Man, he was legitimately gullible, wasn't he? Evie wasn't joking around about how much of a people-pleaser he seemed to be! Ah well. At least that meant that she wasn't going to be all wrapped up by the end of this!
Evie was quick to flash a small grin at the boy as he approached. "Just about! I wanted to go a little further into the forest first!" Being dragged into the woods by two girls? Nothing could go wrong with that! Right?
Probably wrong. But Elliot didn't have much choice! As soon as he'd be in close enough range, Evie would reach out to try to pull at either his hand or wrist. Of course, she took care not to tug too hard, knowing about his leg issue, but she was fully intending on hurrying him along. "I saw a big tree that I want to use, when I was here the other day!" Why did anyone feel the need to wander around in the forest? It was kind of strange for a fifteen year old girl to go too deep into the woods! Dangerous, maybe!
"Oh my fu--"
"Elsie! You're taking too long!" Evie snipped to her sister, who rolled her eyes before placing effort into following. She should have anticipated that they wouldn't just stay near the edge of the forest, after all!
"So, Elliot. What have you been doing lately?" Continuing to lead the group, Evie kept her eyes forward, rather than looking at the person she was addressing. "Anything fun?"
"Or anyo--"
"--Or has classwork gotten the best of you lately?" Did Evie realize she was interrupting her sister's rude remarks? The way that she kept an even tone would imply that the prim-and-proper sibling had no idea that Elsie was even talking! "I tried tutoring Elsie for the past few nights. But, I don't think her test scores are going up at all." This warranted a small smirk to fall onto the teen's lips, waiting to see if a comeback would arrive.
But, for the most part, she only received a groan and a warning of, "wonder how great of a tutor you are, trapped inside a closet." Ah, sibling love!
And, yet another sentence that seemed to completely soar past Evie's listening ability! Soon enough, the twins would come to stop at a large tree full of green leaves and sturdy branches. "What do you think? I think it should support weight; do you?"

Elliot was quick to return Evie's smile with one of his own. Elsie was right; the boy was complety unsuspecting of any potential hijinks that might've played out today. Then again, why would he have any reason to doubt. Evie could be a bit of an odd one sometimes, but her strangeness was harmless at worst and actually kind of charming at best. As far as he could tell, there was no need to be on red alert.
"Further?" he asked, but before he could voice any concerns he was promptly being lead away by the hand. Unsurprisingly, Elliot didn't really mind this, quickly falling in step with Evie. Any of his prior concerns, such as getting lost, hitting a dead zone, or bumping into a lost Digimon that took residence in the forest, seemed a bit lower priority now. Instead he just moved onwards, one hand taken by her and the other tapping gently with his walking stick to make sure Evie's path wouldn't be too difficult for his leg to handle.
"So, how big? You know, the tree and all that," he asked, having wisely chosen to wait before the nerves of suddenly being lead by the hand died down before talking. There may have still been a trace of blush on his cheeks, but the shadowy trees mercifully made it too difficult to tell.
When the question of fun came up, Elliot was beyond relieved to hear Isaac wasn't being brought up. The last thing he wanted was another repeat of their first meeting. That said, how could he explain "returning to a parallel world that traumatized me once" without sounding like a nutjob? "Just kinda finding myself, really," was what he settled on, which frankly was a hilarious answer for a 14 year old to give. "Been exploring around the city some, doing a lot of reading, helping Mom around the house. That kinda stuff." Every answer that Elliot had given was the best kind of correct: technically correct!
Evie's own day sounded rather hectic, if she was locked in a closet trying to help tutor her own sister! Elliot had to laugh at that one. "Maybe she'll do better if you switch up who's locked in the closet?" Elliot suggested. "Still, I know studying can get tricky. Piper from your class has been tutoring me lately, and I've been helping Isaac when I can, so I've kinda been on both sides of it." As the book smart brother Elliot took full responsibility in at least showing Isaac the technique of studying, even if the classwork was very often above his level. "You guys been up to anything cool otherwise?"
Soon enough they would be, if that tall, pleasant looking tree was any indication. Compared to some of the shorter or weedier options, it was definitely a prime choice. No wonder Evie insisted on coming here, despite Elsie's seeming exasperation about it. "Looks good to me," he said, peering up at the tree before turning to Elsie. "You did this before, right? How does it work?"

"Big," was Evie's response to Elliot's question. She hadn't measured it! She just knew it was large! How did one describe just how big a tree was, anyway? Unfortunately, the teen never thought to carry a tape measure, and surely it would be a hassle to even find one that was large enough to check every aspect of a tree!
Despite being the one to ask the question, it seemed Evie had no comment when it came to the part where she should respond! Luckily, keeping her face forward and not looking toward Elliot, he surely wouldn't see the slight twist of expression at the comment on helping his mom. Squinting ever-so-slightly, the girl tried to quickly control the raising of cheekbones and tightening of lips. After all, it wasn't like that sort of comment should be a trigger! It should be sweet! What a perfect son, helping his mom out!
And, being more than quick enough to know when a subject wasn't going to pique her sibling's interest, Elsie snaked her way into the conversation. "What kinda stuff do you help your mom with? Is she a good cook?" At least one of them knew what types of things to pry into, when it came to maternal figures! Cooking was always a safe target!
But, the situation really wasn't going to better itself, was it? Evie remained 'on a mission' to find the tree and kept from looking toward either Elliot or Elsie, while her wild-haired sister's lips curled to a smug grin, "Pi-per, huh?" Drawing the name out a little, the girl threw a glance at her sister. But, nope, Evie wasn't even going to come close to acknowledging it. At least, not without a little prompting! "I think Evie's talked to her a few times. Haven't you, Eves?"
Continuing to force her focus, the ever-so-slightly older twin gave a 'distracted' sounding, "mhmmm," in response.
This draw of attention to that subject would be noted by her sister. Elsie was sure of it.
"We haven't done much. Exploring, studying, checking out some of the weird shit that goes on in the alleys," Elsie commented, as if none of this should faze anyone. "Met some weird kid who beat the crud outta some guys, there. Think he's got a thing for Eve." Should she have said that? Considering Elliot had gone on a date with Evie, would it matter to him at all if someone else had shown interest? Elsie had to admit, she was curious to see if it would stir a reaction, or simply be brushed off in some weird happy-Elliot way.
This caught Evie's attention some, however. Maybe it was because her name was brought up, yet again! "Oh. Reki. He seems nice." Despite having that matter-of-fact tone that the girl gave off while spouting facts that she had accumulated, it also chipped at a friendlier tone. Perhaps, though, this was because Reki, unlike Mothers and Pipers, wasn't a terrible topic choice!
But, now that they had reached the tree, the real effort began! Setting up!
...Which, it looked like Elsie was not intending on providing assistance with! Standing to the side, the girl crossed her arms while staring at the tree. "Well, the ribbons come out. Then they're on the tree. Then you're on the ribbons. Then you're in the ribbons. And then you don't know where you are, but upside down might be right side up." That sounded a little nauseating! Probably because that's how Elsie felt when it came to getting wrapped like a Christmas present!
Meanwhile, Evie let go of Elliot's hand so that she could fish a small container from the side of her belt. Kneeling down, the teen pressed a button on the surface, which soon caused the item to begin expanding to a notably larger box! "It's just going to take a minute to find everything," the green eyed girl murmured, as she reached into the box to find all the required pieces for her toy.
"I kind'a hope she can't find all the pieces," Elsie whispered, leaning toward Elliot to avoid being overheard by her sharp-eared sibling. "That thing's, like, infinite. Wish I would've thought to jam a bunch of random things in there so she can't find her's." Now, that would just be mean! And, Evie would probably try to dump it over Elsie's head or something. Then it would be painful! Maybe that was a fantasy that was best kept as a fantasy!

Fortunately, Elliot wasn't even close enough to notice Evie's reaction. Unfortunately, her lack of reaction was all too clear. The girl was usually talkative about most any subject, to the point of almost coming off as a snoop. For her to suddenly clam up like this was totally unlike her, and Elliot found a bit of worry flashing in his eyes as he tried to wonder what he did wrong. Did she think helping his mom out was totally lame? Oh no, she did, didn't she? This was a disaster!
At least Elsie was talking. That helped. A good and proper awkward silence would've sucked major, especially since Elliot's solution to climbing out of those was usually to awkwardly poke at topics of discussion until one stuck. "Y'know, it's funny. Mom doesn't usually cook much," Elliot admitted. "I mean, she used to. Back when . . . "
Nope. No. Bad topic. Now it was Elliot's turn to get all tight lipped, the boy pretty much literally swallowing his words as he tried to mentally rewind the conversation.
"After moving to Japan she just hasn't had the time, really. For the first few months we spent here we usually just kinda ordered stuff. But I've been learning from my friend, Alicia, and lately I've been pretty good at it!" he said, maybe grounding himself a bit too hard onto a happier spin on the topic. "Isaac's not bad at it either. But he's usually better with desserts. Or decorating. You know, the kind of stuff he does at the butler café. When we team up we can plate a mean dish, though!"
It turned out Piper was another foreboden topic, with Evie's response to her existence being a hilariously strained mhmmm. Okay, something was definitely up here. Even Elliot, bless his little socially unaware heart, could start to tell that. Unlike helping out at home, which he could at least gracefully disengage from, he decided to just let this topic drop. Was Elliot actually learning how to read the atmosphere in the room? Maybe not having an older brother doing all the heavy lifting for him was starting to pay off.
Instead he listened, hearing about the odd adventures that the girls got up to in Shibuya. Apparently their recent days included seeing a weird kid beat people up in an alleyway. He also seemed to fancy Evie, which got Elliot blushing the slightest bit upon hearing it. The fact that it was the first topic to make Evie speak up again since they started talking added a bit of extra blush to the fire there. Sure, he and Evie were agreed-upon just friends, but . . .
"That's cool," he said, doing his best to swallow down the hint of nervousness that came with it. "Why beating people up, though? Did they try to attack him or something?" If only Elliot knew the details of the rather bloodthirsty individual that the twins had stumbled upon. Maybe he would've known why that was such a silly question.
If anything else was on his mind, it was promptly shaken by seeing a genuine Infini-Store out in the wild. He had seen those advertised in the human world all the time, but if Evie owned one did that mean-
Okay, yeah. Filling it with junk would've been a hilarious prank, especially since the whole "infinity" part meant it'd be a minor nuisance at best. Elliot let a little laugh sneak out at that one. "I'm sure this'll be fun, though," he said. "Like, what could possibly go wrong?"
Oh, Elliot. You sweet summer child.
