"An SOS, now? Quite unfortunate...
"Its of little matter now. Just line up the shot...
"Kehehe! Run while you still can, you pathetic little wick!"
"Damn it - snap out of it already!"
This was a scene that was growing at an unfortunate rate in the Digital World: that of a Dark Spire stretching out into the sky, protected by its beholden guardian. In this case, the incident was relatively isolated, cropping out of nowhere: the black structure stood tall out of a sandy dune, the tearing charge of a dominated beast kicking through the dirt! Just moments ago, Greymon and Starmon were cracking jokes at each-other on an uneventful patrol, but those same too were at odds, that same dragon sporting black scales, a dark ring around its arm. Worse, the Starmon had reverted to a simple Candlemon, awkwardly trying to hop away from its pursuer!
This was bad - the Candlemon barely had time to send out a signal for help, but would he even survive to see the first respondent? "Heh, just give it up. Its your fault for destroying the other ring. Its best I take care of you now, before-"
At that note, the sound of a deafening impact filled the ears of both fighters, a sudden storm of sand kicked up as both yelled out at the sudden force! The Candelmon, his flame buffeted by the sand, managed to make something out - though he couldn't tell exactly what did it, where the Spire once stood was now a burnt crater! Sand already started to pour from the dune as it filled the hole. As the ring snapped off of the dragon's neck, the Greymon gave a confused growl, shaking his head. "Ugh... is it over?"
"... Oh, lord, I hope so." The Candlemon's gaze was set to the sky, and Greymon would soon crane his neck to see just what was hanging there. At this point, it was like viewing a plane from the sky, but their 'savior' was quite clearly visible:
A Blimpmon - and not a weak one, but of significant power, with Chrome Digizoid reinforcing its bottom. The main cannon still smoked from above, and the vehicle started to come closer, silhouette growing in their presence. "Maybe they're just coming down to check on us? I don't-"
"Look alive, Crag." The Candlemon had reason to be concerned: after a few minutes, a few interesting figures came down from the flying vessel: A Devidramon with a metal visor, wings outstretched with what looked to be a Tamer (X) scooped up in his arms, and a Renamon, with what looked to be transparent blue wings, floating down with a Meicoomon in her arms.
It didn't take long for either to touch down, and Crag was the first to respond, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. "Hey, thanks for-" Or, well, not: just as soon as the Meicoomon was set down, the Renamon vanished from sight, and gave one solid hit behind the Greymon's head, an unconscious Agumon soon bouncing off the sand.
"C-crag! You-"
"Quiet." The Meicoomon's words were already paired with her actions - the tip of her tail stabbed straight through the candle's side. With a wince of pain, the rookie fell over as well, leaving this unidentified party as the source of the signal. The Renamon raised a hand to her ear: "Area secure. Moving onto next phase."
"Roger that. Switch Xros."
Both the Renamon and the Devidramon carried out that order: as the demon set the girl off to the side, the metal pack 'popped' off of the Renamon's back, and in the same motion, the visor pulled itself away from the Devidramon. Soon, the Renamon gained a visor of her own, and Devidramon's torn wings were replaced with a metal variant - one that had high-powered fans near the tip. The rest of the group gave their distance, as the newly-formed Xros Devidramon gave a roar:
"Cyclone Wing!"
The effect of the technique was obvious from the start, a vast amount of wind directed straight towards the sand. In one blast, the entire dune was swept away, carrying away the loosened sand in a thick cloud. Soon the flattened area even deepened, as the demon directed the blast even lower - until the top half of a certaio statue (X) made itself visible.
As the dust settled, the girl gave a nod, drawing a D-Tector into her hand. Sliding down into the dune, an impressive mass of fractal code surrounded her right arm.
"To Reflect the Hearts of Those Within, Let the Spirit of Reflections Free." Soon standing atop the statue, the Spirit Wielder finished her declaration, swiping the data across the device. "Delve into the Fortress of the Mind - Sakkakumon!"
That one cast filled the crater with a blinding white light - and soon, both the spirit wielder and the statue floated upwards, forming a central sphere - one from which that very fortress would emerge. From the four eyes that connected to that central sphere, a light shone on the desert floor.
The Renamon gave the last step, planting her palm against the ground: "Essence Summon." From a cloud of sand, the last figures made their appearance:
The Xros General himself (X), as well as the Doctor, along with the Duramon and DarkKnightmon.
"Let's go." Efficient as ever, the groups would move out. Of those groups, three of the lights were occupied:
The General, accompanied with the Renamon and the Devidramon.
The Doctor, accompanied with the twin knights.
The Meicoomon, alone.
With this, all four lights - and those standing within - would vanish. Moments later, all the eyes of the Sakkakumon would close, and move to 'shuffle', wrapping tight around the center sphere before expanding back out in separate directions. Soon afterwards, the Sakkakumon's 'tone' switched from a bright green, to a dull orange - similar in color to the desert surrounding them.
The only signs of entry were those same four eyes, open and staring towards the earth before them...
"Ugh... my head..."
It took some time, but the Agumon would finally get up, as would the Candlemon next to him. Whoever had attacked them before only seemed interested in stopping them from interfering, but soon enough, both had their eyes locked on that peculiar fortress.
Intimidated and overwhelmed, the two simply looked on in awe, unable to make a move. Just what did this mean? Why was this here?
"... I hope that S.O.S. actually went through..."
