Sophie gave a deep breath of regret when it seemed that the other young Tamer in the area wasn't able to take the hints and approach as invited. Well, that was that, she supposed. Perhaps this would be a learning experience for her in future operations? To be just that little more obvious, but not too obvious? Or... maybe it was just down to the fact that the tamer in question wasn't up to caliber? Well, that was something to determine on another day.
But still, she still devoted her full attention to Tadayoshi and his team. Initially she was surprised to see that he had three digimon, then confused when Tadayoshi was referred to as a "General". She glanced at Lantis for help here.
"Ah, yes, I've heard of your class before" the Leomon replied. He turned to Sophie. "Sometimes, humans get Xros Loaders instead of digivices. They generally have way more partners than usual, and can fuse their partners into stronger forms whenever needed".
"I see, that's useful" Sophie answered. Then she was somewhat startled by Renamon's very blunt, direct questions. The young woman recovered relatively fast though, and looked at her directly.
"Simply put, Renamon... would you like a job?" Sophie asked, her face serious. "So far you, your comrades and your General have succeeded in being able to figure out a situation, follow directions, yet still remain on high alert in an unknown situation. In tandem, that's an admirable set of skills to have for an AEGIS agent".
Sophie stood to her feet, then paced a little as she decided to spill the beans in full to them now. While Enkidu looked a little annoyed, she'd word it in a way that would be beneficial to him as well.
"Two years ago, the organization that was previously entrusted with protecting Earth from threats from the Digital World - DATS, was rendered defunct, its operations halted" Sophie said. "I'm not familiar with the exact reasons why, but all I know from them is that they probably were too zealous and overreaching in their objectives. Namely, they attempted to control any and all digimon related events on Earth, and launched provocative operations in the digital world as well. While I don't know the exact nature of all their operations, I can only conclude that they bit off more than they could chew, their leadership crumbled, and they could no longer function. It was nothing short of a miracle that digimon with sinister plans didn't exploit that. So, we created AEGIS to fill the gap left behind, and be the shield that would be there if some JerkholeVillainmon decided to make Tokyo their own personal kingdom".
Sophie spoke in a serious voice this whole time, indicating she wasn't joking about any of this.
"So, in effect, we in AEGIS chose to operate differently to DATS, learning from their mistakes" she continued. "Instead of monitoring all digimon activity in Tokyo, we simply act in a more subtle way in regards to threats. Yes, in the event of an attack, we're still expected to be frontline troops, but we are expected to act in a way that we do not provoke such an attack. After all, most digimon tend to end up in the human world by mistake. We've found that it's more effective to gently reassure a nervous, lost, confused Bullmon than to pull out the weaponry and shoot him down".
With that effectively established, Sophie would then continue on her description of their purpose.
"Now then. Lately, we have become... somewhat short of skilled agents. And in a period of uncertainty with things seeming to get worse in the digital world, this is concerning. This is why we have let you and your partners in, Tadayoshi. I would like to hire you as a provisional agent to help us in this task. If you join AEGIS, your job will be to monitor digimon activity in Tokyo, guide new tamers and digimon or wild solo digimon to make themselves less obvious, and be prepared to fight against hostile digimon forces".
Thankfully Enkidu understood the importance of establishing this talk first up, so the BlackGaomon didn't object to this being the first item on the agenda. He as well as Sophie and Lantis wondered how Tadayoshi would respond to this.

As Lantis explained the mechanics of Xros Generals, Tadayoshi couldn't help but let a little smirk cross his face. From what he'd experienced, his was a special and rare kind, something that went straight to his head. However, the smile fell fast as this mysterious girl offered Tadayoshi a, "...'job?'" Closely and intently, Tadayoshi, Commandramon, and Renamon listened to the explanation from Sophie. Hagurumon preferred looking down and away from everything, apparently. Tadayoshi in particular seemed to cling to every single word. I like it. This girl's serious, direct, and gets right to the point. The purpose of AEGIS, Tadayoshi had to admit, sounded noble. It didn't take a genius to figure out the consequences of too much intermingling of the worlds or the chances of exactly that happening. There was only one real objection to be had here, and it was voiced by Renamon.
"Hmph. Do you have the authority to offer anyone anything, or should we speak to Mommy and Daddy?"
Tadayoshi hoped to put it more diplomatically than that, but he couldn't help agreeing with his mother. "She's got a point. You're, like... my age. But that's impressive if you're really in charge of all this!"
"Age is a measure of experience, not capability," Commandramon wisely interjected. "I'm intrigued, but you haven't answered all of our questions." Commandramon turned to address the BlackGaomon directly then. "You're here on other business." That was a statement of fact but also a question.

Sophie was glad that she maintained Tadayoshi and the other digimons' attention in her talk. She put a lot of thought into every word, as well as honesty. As she awaited the reply though, she was somewhat taken aback by Renamon's words.
So, Renamon wanted to test her authority, eh? Hm. Sophie thought of a way to keep this short, and to the point, keep it friendly, while maintaining her authority. She simply removed her digivice from her pocket.
"Lantis, stand" she said, raising the digivice. And at once, an immense burst of light roared from the device, surely gathering the attention of everyone in this room. Lantis roared as he felt the power fill him.
"Leomon... Warp-digivolve to...!"
At once, a cape formed around his shoulders, but still bared his chest. A worn looking hat rested on his head, and if possible, his body grew even more bigger and muscular. The sword he wore on his back lengthened as well, and as the light of the evolution faded, he folded his arms, looking down at the table.
"BanchoLeomon" he finished, daring them to challenge him. Enkidu's eyes widened as he observed.
'Mega level? Whoa... these guys are the real deal' he thought to himself.
"To answer your question, Renamon..." Sophie said, trying to not appear woozy from the effort of doing that. She remained firm and professional in her voice and posture. "I am 19 years old and am a legal adult, therefore I do not need permission from my parents to act with authority. I admit, I didn't obtain this authority alone, but my grandmother has enough influence in the machinations of Tokyo to receive permission from the government to conduct operations regarding digimon. And, as I'm sure you can see, I am experienced enough in the ways of digimon to have the knowledge of how to go about this".
Sophie then realized all at once that this was the first time she had evolved Lantis to this level. Just... how did she do it? Normally digivolution required a moment of crisis or a desperate situation before it happened. Was... she that desperate for AEGIS to succeed? Well... feeling empowered by Lantis's continued presence, she continued.
"All of what you see here is real. We have the technology, we have the finances, and we have the authority, but we lack man and monpower" Sophie continued. Then the Commandramon went to the point, asking Enkidu directly why he had come here.
"Well..." Enkidu began, a little hesitantly from that display, but Lantis's cool blue eyes looked reassuring. "I come here because I have information of an imminent operation from a gang of bad digimon in Terminus. I... used to be a part of them, but, they've grown too evil and violent. And they see Earth as easy prey. They plan on coming to Earth like I did, disguised with holosuits, scatter around Tokyo, then go on and cause a state of bedlam. They think they'd be invincible here against your authorities, that they can get their way with violence, and they just want to cause as much chaos and disruption as possible, looting and stealing what they can, then escape back to the digital world through the Shibuya River".
Sophie listened to this patiently. "How many and what levels?" she asked at the end.
"6 rookies, 3 champions, and an Ultimate" Enkidu answered. "I was meant to be the 7th rookie, but it was too far for me. I came here as soon as I heard".
"Right, so 10 digimon. And with the time difference, the longer we remain here, the more time they'll have to prepare" Sophie thought out loud. "Lantis, your thoughts?"
"We must act as soon as we can, head them off in the digital world" Lantis answered. "If we try to stop them here, any one could escape, and it might be the Ultimate, and they could cause the most damage".
"My thoughts too" Sophie agreed. "What do you think, Tadayoshi?" she asked what she hoped would be the new recruit.

Tadayoshi's eyes turned wide. Hagurumon yelped. Renamon lifted an eyebrow, intrigued. Commandramon reached for his gun, getting a paw around the handle but managing to restrain himself from taking it off the table. Those were the group's reactions to witnessing evolution to the mega level. Perhaps they had seen one mega once before, but it wasn't nearly such a friendly one. Tadayoshi noticed that Commandramon was the last to calm down, though; he didn't let go of his rifle until the young man coaxed him, "Captain," gently, reached for the digimon's armored paw, and tried to slowly pull it away from the rifle handle. Fortunately, Commandramon allowed it.
"Well, well? The kitten has claws." Renamon said that while looking at Sophie before turning toward the newly evolved BanchoLeomon. "And so does her partner."
"Can we stay on track, please?" was the teen's attempt to both focus on the subject that mattered more and distract the room from the deep breath Commandramon had to take to get out of fight-or-flight mode. "Forget about some job offer for a moment; why are we even talking about that when there's a way bigger problem at hand?"
Immediately, Renamon objected. "Your personal problems are not ours. While I'm not being paid, I have no inclination to worry about someone else's world. We have our own problems." The harshest part? That wasn't for Sophie, Lantis, or even the canine digimon; she was looking at Tadayoshi.
But Commandramon growled back, "The General is risking his life for 'our own problems' and expected nothing in return. You could learn something from him. General? It's your call."
Tadayoshi didn't find that a very hard decision to make. "Please put a pin in that offer, ma'am; I'm more worried about a digimon gang in my neighborhood!" Tadayoshi didn't need a lot of thought to consider the strategy when asked; it seemed obvious. "Whatever you need from us, we'll do it, ma'am. You're right: anything that keeps digimon like that out of the real world is good. We should go there."
"Additionally, we have allies in Terminus. The three of us here are only a part of our group. If we link up with them, they'll be invaluable." Commandramon was, of course, referring to the band of Missimon and cluster of MetalKoromon who didn't have to hide in the real world for their own safety like the other three did.
"But I've been to Terminus, and I imagine a brawl in the streets won't go over much better there than here. I don't know where we could start when we got there."

Sophie took a careful glance at how the others looked at this gesture. She was at least glad that they now seemed to take this seriously. Even though there was nothing for Lantis to attack in this form, he at least took the moment to make his presence known too, folding his arms and lowering his head as though in thought here.
Sophie, Lantis and Enkidu listened as Tadayoshi spoke his mind. He seemed to agree with Enkidu that the problem at hand was pretty big after all. Renamon didn't seem to be bothered by it, but her general was. They remained silent for the time being as they figured out their problems.
Then Tadayoshi made his decision, that they would work to stopping this digimon threat. Enkidu was pleased, and Sophie was impressed.
"My thoughts too" she answered him. "Even though it would temporarily render our operations on Earth vulnerable, we can't have AEGIS be successful if we remain fully reactionary. And especially with the time difference, we need to make ourselves act quickly".
Of course, Tadayoshi raised the issue of his allies acting in on this causing chaos somewhat in the digital world. Sophie understood this. "Of course. We'll do what we can to isolate what actions we make there" she said. "But ultimately, it seems we do need to make it our primary action to stop them. And it seems that action is only doable via a direct movement to Terminus City. So, would you all be ready for this?"
She hoped this would be answered in the affirmative. If so, she would begin arrangements for them to be transported there at once.

"...Alright. Let's go." Tadayoshi stood up, which his digimon companions apparently took as their cue to in turn stand up. Hagurumon continued levitating over the floor instead of over a chair, Renamon stood stiff with a frown and a glare at the General, and Commandramon picked his weapon up off of the table to resume holding it by the handle on top of it. Then, Tadayoshi began to give orders. "Renamon, go ahead of us and find the others. Sounds like we're jumping right into the action, so have them meet us in Terminus."
"And how do you expect them to get to a meeting point so fast?" Renamon demanded with her arms crossed. Standing up it was apparent she was eight inches taller than Tadayoshi, yet another reason she didn't care to take orders from him.
"There's a time divide, remember? You'll have seven times however long it takes us to get there." Renamon looked between Tadayoshi and Commandramon, who with a simple facial expression confirmed the order, before finally giving up. At that point the fox managed to practically disappear before the humans' very eyes with her raw speed and stealth. "Don't worry about her; she doesn't need a holosuit to be invisible."
Next, Commandramon claimed his magazine from the table, slipped it inside his rifle, and checked the firing chamber to make sure there was a round inside it. There was. "We should still be cautious and travel in the Loader while in this world," he advised.
"No argument here. Commandramon, Hagurumon, withdraw." When Yoshi held out his aqua and silver Loader toward the two digimon, each entered the device. "Let's consider this part of the interview, then. You can see how we operate, and vice versa. I don't know how much time we have or how much you lost for our little test, but we're ready to leave on your command, Ma'am."

Sophie took note of Tadayoshi's thinking here. His first order was to send Renamon to the digital world in advance; reasoning that she would secure them a safe position due to the time difference. She had honestly not considered that in her calculations, and honestly thought that was brilliant. Yes, if Renamon was sent in advance, she would be able to act seven times faster. However, that was only true if she was able to remain unseen. However, according to the database, Renamons were very agile and stealthy and difficult to be seen if they didn't want to, so Sophie trusted that part was safe.
A moment later, Lantis got her attention. "As impressive as it was that you evolved me, Sophie, I... don't think it's safe for me to enter the digital world like this" he admitted. Sophie gave a nod to his concerns, then raised her digivice to him once more, and he glowed and reverted to his form as Leomon.
"Whew... that... certainly was exciting" the anthro feline admitted with a grin. Sophie grinned back, but there was no time to linger over this. Tadayoshi then withdrew his remaining partners into his Xros Loader, then expressed the wish to continue. Sophie acknowledged this, then again held her digivice in her hand.
"According to my tech workers, my digivice has the ability to activate a portal for 2 humans" she said, raising it. "Lantis, Enkidu, my apologies, but I don't want you to be disrupted by its effects".
"Of course" Lantis said, then consented to be withdrawn into Sophie's digivice by the V-Pet mechanism. Enkidu meanwhile glared with more suspicion, but, supposed there was logic in that. But he would promise, if Sophie meant to trick him with imprisonment beyond his consent, that would be the end of their working together, and he too consented for the moment. Then, with that safely done, Sophie activated the next function of her digivice.
"Digiport Open" she said, then created a portal in front of them. Through this portal would take them to Terminus City, hopefully in the place that Renamon had scouted out in advance. Inviting Tadayoshi to follow her, Sophie advanced through the portal, entering the digital world.
[Thread Exit for now].
