Promises were promises, weren't they? Even if Amelie had felt slightly sick and lightheaded for a couple of days due to what Mikemon had diagnosed as 'Spirit Dissonance', she was back in full force and that meant she owed her favorite (and for now, only) niece a visit.
Truthfully, Syre was a Cinnamon bun and the brunette regretted not being able to play a more active role on the young digimon's life, but founding a city was... as taxing as it could, especially in the Dark Area.
Those were thoughts for later, though! Right now, the plans were simple; just some quality time between the two of them! How, you ask? Well, simple! The two were gonna do some research on settlements that had withstood D-Reaper attacks and had recovered with a measure of success. It seemed like a nice plan, even if the good Doctor seemed to have been worried sick as soon as she mentioned it.
In the known that everything would go well, and if it didn't on their ability to get the hell outta any possible danger zone, the brunette was driving her car in the library's direction, promptly reaching a point near its entrance and parking there.
She opened her D-Terminal and began writing a message. AmyST: Syre~ AmyST: I'm outside the library atm. Feel free to come out when you're ready!

Hearing that Amelie was a little under the weather wasn't a good start to Syre's week. She was concerned about Amy, of course, but it also left her a bit cooped up in the Library. There was only so much she could do here before she'd end up stir-crazy for being inside for too long, and it wasn't as if the mission guild postings at her level were frequent enough to be a good outlet.
But it seemed that Amy was doing better! Right now, Syre was packing up to spend time with her aunt by a visit to the Dark Area. The idea had her nervous at first, but between Mikemon's (hesitant) permission and the fact that she'd have Amelie - and by extension, Delirium - to watch over her, well, she'd be a bit excited about the trip! She was always curious about the place, and getting any more information about the D-Reaper would be worthwhile to the club!
Hearing a car engine outside, Syre felt a vibration in her glove. A message? SGato: Oh, Amy! SGato: K, be rite on down! It didn't take her long: with a bag slung over her shoulder, she gave a wave over to the spirit wielder, a smile on the cat's face. As the door opened, she'd let the bag down inside, beneath her feet, before giving a smile towards her aunt. "Heh, been a while! How's it been going, Amy?" To Amelie, Syre might as well have been a ray of sunshine, the cat comfortable to be her casual self around the spirit wielder.
"And, this is the car... heh, looks even better than in the pictures you sent!"

Luckily, it seemed that the brunette would have to wait for too much time; it brought a smile to Amelie's face to see that her 'niece' seemed to be so excited about the whole trip. Truthfully, she had expected for some rift to happen between the club members and her considering that she basically had left the thing in order to work on her personal projects, but...
If at least this part of her relationships with the club remained more or less the same, that would be good enough for her; more than that wasn't... as important. At least in her eyes.
One of the car's doors opened, allowing the Syre to enter, the two females promptly exchanging greetings. "It really has." She admitted, the smile on her face not faltering. "I see you've done quite a bit of growing! Might as well be taller than your dad already."
Despite not being fully aware of that fact being true or not, and most Gato/Mikemons being roughly the same size pretty much at all times, it wasn't something that did any harm, anyway. "Been doing well, except for one or two days I took off due to being slightly under the weather; I should be fine now, however!"
After all, how dangerous could a little trip to the Dark Area be? Probably not much, right?
The car's engines started again, and the vehicle began a relatively short journey towards the Dark Area. Yet, once again, the teenager's own weakness to flattery managed to show up, even if just a bit. "I know, right? No pictures could make this machine justice, honestly."
This wasn't the main topic, and since they had some time until their arrival, why not... "So... how have you been? I heard that The Library had suffered an attack of sorts recently. Is everyone... fine?"

True, Amy and Syre already had a bit of a bond at this point, one a little more 'important' than simply with team members. With how determined Amelie was to be a part of her life, and with how much Syre enjoyed both her company and tutelage, the two had definitely kicked it off on the right foot.
"Heh... haven't grown too much more since I managed Rookie, but I am a quarter-inch taller than him!" Oof, poor dad - just a few months into this, and already both of his kids were taller than him! Still, it seemed more of a casual comment than any sort of bragging statement. Her ear flicked as Amy mentioned why the trip had been pushed to today.
"Mm, dad did mention that you might not have been feeling well. Though, glad to hear you're feeling better. What kinda bug was it?" Professional as Mikemon was, he'd forgotten to explain 'Spirit Dissonance' to the cat - though, maybe that would have just made Syre more concerned? Eh, maybe - clicking her seatbelt into place, and raising the seat just a bit further up, she gave a grin. "Can't wait to see how this thing runs... hm?"
Oh... oh, right, the attack on the Library? "I, um, think so. When it happened, I wasn't in the Library itself, though things seem pretty normal - there have been a few contractors around to quote fixing the electricity in the place." Understandably, she was a bit unsettled by the whole thing - and since the attack, she hadn't seen her dad at all - nor had she seen Saku, Ayumi, nor Haru, either, so it was hard to tell. "Sorry I don't know the full answer there..."
Taking a look out the side window - sheesh, they were going so fast, and yet this ride felt so smooth! - Syre let the moment fade into silence, before asking a different question: "So, what's the plan for today? All I got is 'investigative work around Fragment Village!" A place she'd never been before, even!

So, her guess had been right all along; Syre was actually taller than the Doctor. The mere implication of how he felt about that development brought a small smile to the brunette's face, even though he probably was more mature than that. Still, it was a funny though!
"Just give it time. Maybe you'll manage to reach being an inch taller than your dad; wouldn't that be amazing?" Maybe not for Mikemon, but amazing nonetheless! Considering she had a Renamon parent, her growing a fair bit more wouldn't exactly be surprising, either.
Regarding what had gotten her under the weather? In all honesty... "I have no idea, but apparently it's something that happens when I exert myself for too long. Like exhaustion, but on the digital side? I couldn't chat a lot with the Doctor since I felt a little lightheaded, so my roomie has most of the details; I was pondering on bringing her here, but I think that might be a bit on the dangerous side, so she stayed at home."
Quickly, the car began to advance, leaving the Digital Core in what felt like a couple of minutes. Truthfully, Amy hadn't intended to bring the attack to the Library so early, but there was genuine concern in her voice. Any of her friend's getting grievously injured —or worse— was something she felt like she had to know.
However, the answer wasn't available, at least not from Syre. Despite her best attempts, the brunette couldn't help but to frown a bit. "I understand. Sorry for asking such an awkward question; I'm glad that everyone is fine, though. That's one big relief."
She stopped right on her tracks before asking who the likely culprit was, just to avoid making the situation the more awkward. Instead, she focused on their plans for this journey.
"Honestly, I don't know what we will find there. Just that." She made a small pause, gathering her thoughts about the matter. "What we know is that the Dark Area is the place that has felt the influence of the D-Reaper the most, which means that the settlements that had contact with it and are still... 'thriving' probably have at least something to offer in regards on how to combat its influence, or at least on how to more effectively weather it."
Sure, she had used the term 'thriving' very liberally since pretty much nothing could truly thrive in the Dark Area, D-Reaper or not. And that's what made the fact that some settlements were still there after an attack all the more amazing.

Sharing a chuckle with Amelie regarding her size, Syre let that positive tone flow through the rest of the conversation. Hearing about how Amelie was sick, Syre pondered over it for a moment: "Hm... well, when we overuse our techniques, we get fatigue and 'all that'. Maybe its something to do with that? I mean, the spirit might take most of the strain, but I'm sure you feel at least some of it..." Syre didn't know much about the topic, but it sounded right to her! Amelie would already know that the BlackGatomon liked to try and piece together these things in her head, even if they weren't always on point.
As for the discussion on the attack, well, if Syre knew more, she would have said all she could! She seemed a little disappointed that she had so little to say - though, her ear flicked at 'everyone is fine'. Honestly, that was just a good enough thing for her to hear, that she simply smiled and gave an "Mhm!", even though she never said that - or even knew if it was true.
Thankfully, she didn't have to dwell on it for long - though Amelie's plans seemed more 'off the cuff' than anything else. However, her reasoning was sound: those around the D-Reaper might have learned a thing or two about how it acts! With everything crazy going on about the D-Reaper, something as simple as that honestly slipped her mind. "Honestly that would make for a great article. If the stuff starts popping up in other places it could help a lot of people out!" Grinning from ear to ear, she gave a nod to her aunt. "Well, I'll help any way I can! If nothing else, I can translate if necessary!"
Syre didn't know much about the 'journalism' part of it, but she was still eager to help in her own way!

The 'fatigue' bit made a lot of sense, Amelie had to admit. Truth was that she honestly had a problem in regards to 'when to stop'; always pushing herself to the limit, and never knowing when to take a break were bound to take its toll sooner or later.
It was annoying, since the time lost when she was under the weather wasn't coming back. "You're probably right. And even if the spirit takes the brunt of the exertion, it's true that human bodies aren't the most resistant stuff around, so... I guess it's kinda proportional, in a sense."
A human body taking strain meant for a digimon to endure would be no less than catastrophic. Seemed like the recipe for a rather short life. Luckily, that wasn't the case with her, right?
Doing her best to keep her mind away from the attack at the Library, the brunette nodded while her car took to the skies and began to traverse over the sea; by the look of it, they'd reach the Dark Area fairly soon! Then they'd be able to investigate a bit.
"I know, right? It seems a bit weird that nobody had tried to do this kinda stuff before." She said, a bit insightfully. "But I think that ebbs from the unwillingness of... pretty much everyone to deal with the Dark Area's inhabitants. A bit sad, if you ask me."
However, the moral stance of the majority of the Digital World's inhabitants wasn't something she was going to discuss with Syre; they were there to have fun (mostly)! And that wasn't something that she wouldn't willingly spoil if she could help it.
"I think that now that's clear that the D-Reaper is moving towards other areas of the Digital World, it's vital to gather as much information as we can." She paused a bit, only to smile and gentle pet her niece's head. "I'm sure you'll be an asset, Syre! And, if you wanna, I can teach you some bits about how to be a top-notch reporter! I'm sure you'll pick those quite fast."
If her mind was as curious as her father's, this would be piece of cake for her.

Well, hopefully that wasn't the case! Syre had the confidence that her aunt knew what she was doing, so the BlackGatomon wasn't going to press too much. Right now, they had a job to focus on - though Amelie had a good point about the Dark Area.
"Well, that's how it could be anywhere, right? Its just a matter of talking to the right person or... something like that, I would think?" Amelie definitely had more experience on the journalism front, but it was also true that some just wouldn't want to talk to journalists... or humans, or tamers hanging out with a rookie level. "Either way, I'm sure we can figure out a lot! Even if its just poking through their records, there should be something to find a lead on." Lowering her head, she gave a chuckle as that hand brushed through the top of her fur.
"Hehe... oh, looks like the road'll end about here. Guess it would make sense that we'd have to fly most of the way to the Dark Area..." Still, this was pretty good time - they'd already made their way past Terminus. And heck, now Syre could say she'd been in a flying car!

Amelie quickly nodded to Syre's words, finding a good measure of truth in them. "Yup; we're treading through uncharted territory at the moment. There's no way to know what will come up from this, but I'm confident in our chances. I'm sure that, at the very least, we'll find out at least some clues, or something that we can use in this... I guess that you can call it 'crusade'?"
The fact that this was probably something that was bigger than the two of them was fairly obvious, just as the feeling that they might be chewing more than what could swallow. Yet... what was life, without a little sense of adventure? Contributing to this cause just felt like the right thing to do.
By now, the car was flying directly into the black skies of the Dark Area. The Sea of Blood wasn't a pretty sight, but by now it was something Amy had grown used to. Who knows; maybe one day it could be purified into something nicer? Probably something to think about later. Now, onto the task at hand.
Slowly, the car began to decelerate, landing into a clear patch of ground. Fragment Village was at least a ten-minute walk away, and that was good; showing opulence through sophisticated gadgets wasn't the way to go in this place.
She got out of the car, and after Syre had done the same, the car would proceed to be digistructed back into her D-Tector. Stretching her legs and arms a bit after her relatively long journey, the brunette sighed after gazing at the panorama.
"So, here we are." She said, a bit nonchalantly. "We have two possible destinations; a nearby cave where sightings of lesser agents are rumored. Fragment Village itself. Which one would you prefer to check out first?"

A 'crusade', huh? "Well, a 'war' against the D-Reaper, at least!" This was going to be a lot of help for both Amelie's own cause and the science club - well, provided they could pull it off, anyway!
It didn't take long for the skies outside to change shade - from a beautiful blue to a ghastly orange, all the way to the pitch black tone of the Dark Area. It was both curious to look at, as well as somewhat frightening in its own right - until Syre got used to the atmosphere around here, the cat figured that she would stay pretty close to Amelie. N-not because she was scared, but because she had to protect her auntie!
Right? Right!
Soon enough, the two were stepping out of the vehicle, Syre giving a quick glance around as Amelie returned the car to the D-Tector. Without the headlights to guide them, the only light around were a few torches, marking the path to Fragment Village. "Hm..."
Where to go? "I'd say... Fragment Village first. If the sightings are rumored, then someone around there's bound to have seen 'em already - let's see if we can prepare ourselves, aunt... I mean, Amy." Right, Syre had to get used to that: one of the agreements she made with her dad to even come out here was to pretend to be Amelie's partner. Calling her 'auntie' out here was bound to draw some attention. Still...
"... Going to have to get used to that one, I guess..." She gave a small chuckle, then moved to follow alongside her 'tamer'!

However one wanted to call it, truth was that one could say that the cause against the D-Reaper covered plenty of fronts and was taking a collective effort.coming from the majority of the civilized Digital World. One the saying goes, a common cause can gift you with the most unlikely allies
It was true that the path ahead of them was slightly foreboding, but that was pretty much how most of the Dark Area was. Sooner or later, every being that inhabited this place (or visited it frequently enough) got used to that feeling.
Going to Fragment first seemed like a good choice, even if that would bring Syre's first interactions with the denizens of the Dark Area. Nodding, Amelie began to step ahead. "Let's go, then; time to investigate a bit."
The brunette couldn't help to chuckle at the BlackGatomon still struggling to not call her 'aunt', even though that was expected. Ever since she had the ability to speak, that had been Amy's designated nickname, even though that had to change, at least for a little bit.
"I'm sure you'll get used to it soon enough; for now, don't worry about it. What you should worry about is not caving in the face of... this village's inhabitants. They can be a bit judgmental, but act as if nothing were happening. That's the best way to go about it."
Of course, treading into Fragment Village wasn't the easiest of tasks. Foreigners, walking in with mostly friendly expressions? That was something that could only be met by wary and suspicious eyes. And even if there hadn't been any kind of open hostility just yet, the stares made it known that they were being observed.
Amelie walked on, her steps not being neither too slow nor too quick; their destination? Fragment's only tavern, of course! That's where most of the talkative folk decided to hang out, anyway.
Place was small, but it had a relatively cozy atmosphere. A hearth burning, ten or so tables with various digimons playing a lot of different games.
Making a beeline to the bar, the brunette sat in the closest empty seat she could find, procuring there was another free for Syre just in case. Looking straight at the Evilmon who was acting as the barista, she gestured at him. Once their attention had been caught, she began to place her order. "I'll have the house's special and... what about you, Syre?"
She knew that her 'partner' probably was forbidden to drink anything with alcohol just yet, so what to get depended on her, mostly.

As Amy gave her chuckle, Syre gave one of her own, as well as a nervous scratch at the back of her head. "Right, hopefully that name will just come to be. And... 'act as if nothing is happening." The cat considered that for a moment: did Amelie think that there would be something untoward going on inside of Fragment Village?
The cat read that as more 'try not to stick your nose in their business' - and after a moment, Syre returned a nod. "It'll take a bit of getting used to, but I'll do what I can, A-Amy!" With that, it wouldn't take long for the pair to get into Fragment Village - though the rather positive tone the two had was quickly mellowed out by the atmosphere, the sheer attention that the two had simply walking into town.
Even if they otherwise looked the part, Amelie was still, unfortunately, human. She'd draw eyes no matter what, and their temporarily cheerful disposition did little to help them to fit in. Stepping in-line with her impromptu tamer, Syre was glad to get off the streets and inside, somewhere - a building that was just called 'TAVERN', via a crude sign out on the front.
The cat largely kept her head down, but did peer around the room for a quick moment. Surprisingly, this seemed to be more a 'village center' than a full-on dive, with several laughing, playing games, stacking chips as they played their cards. She quickly recognized those playing Poker, Bridge, and Euchre - and she briefly wondered if getting in on one of those games would have been a good idea.
Bah, maybe not. Taking the seat next to Amelie, she gave a nod towards the devil-type Digimon: "Just a soda." No specifics, no mix - she knew enough not to try to order anything too fancy, especially when the drink wasn't going to have any alcohol in it. Still, her tone betrayed that she was just a touch nervous about the environment: was it too much, or was it just the anticipation or tension getting to her?
Calm down... Oh, were it so easy to just flip a 'switch' like that!

Syre being so insecure was a bit endearing; this probably was her first 'serious' mission, and that probably made her a little anxious. That was fine; eventually, she'd get used to it and even if... at least until then, even in her insecurity, she was playing her role well. After all, who'd think that she was something other than an inexperienced digimon partner? For now, that was good enough for the brunette.
Amelie herself had noticed how eager Syre seemed to play some of the games that the other digimons were playing, and for a second herself, she thought that might be a good idea for her to calm down a bit.
Some things were first, though. For example, a short yet nice chat with the barkeep. As soon as their drinks had been served, and after the teenager took a sip, she'd gaze at the bartender.
"I've heard some some things."
The Evilmon gazed back, but paused. Almost as if expected for her to elaborate; Amy twirled a strand of her hair, glad to see she had gotten the reaction she wanted.
"Y'know, recent events? Rumor has it that there's been a bit of a ruckus over here as of late."
Lazily, he just pointed out at a table where a lone PicoDevimon was sitting, apparently playing solitaire. "She was there. She doesn't talk to humans. Suit yourself." As short as the exchange was, Amelie slid some bits in his direction, then looked at Syre, a knowing expression adorning her face.
Guess it was time for the bird to leave the nest. Had been kinda soon, but everything for the sake of their investigation!

It definitely took Syre a little bit to settle into her role - and even then, she wasn't entirely comfortable with the setting around her. Still, she didn't entirely look off, even sitting next to a human - at the very least, she was a virus type among other virus types! Taking a silent sip of her soda, she silently looked on as Amelie started to chit-chat with the bartender. For the moment, the cat seemed content to simply sit out of the way. If it were as easy as paying for the information, so be it-
Ah. It wasn't going to be quite that easy, was it. The black cat's eyes were drawn over to that DemiDevimon as well - someone who seemed more engrossed in her cards rather than the tamer-and-Digimon pair in front of her. If she didn't talk to humans, maybe she'd be equally unlikely to talk to an Aato - but was she even looking up enough to know that Syre was next to Amelie? Giving one nod to her aunt, Syre pulled away from the bar, and took a moment to look around, before pulling right up to the winged rookie's table.
"Still looking for a person to play?" Keeping her tone relatively neutral, she'd pull herself up to the chair opposite her. With any luck, she'd be able to get in on some sort of game - she had a few bits to bet, if it came down to a sort of wager!
That would be how she started, anyway - might as well try and make a connection before asking such a heavy question, right?

Amelie made sure to gaze somewhat furtively at Syre's direction every now and then as she quietly sipped from her drink. Even if she trusted her niece to handle herself, it was a commonly known fact that PicoDevimon's could produce syringes filled with dubious fluids from pretty much nowhere; and that was slightly concerning. Feeling moderately powerless in this situation wasn't the best feeling, but there wasn't much to do about it. Just wait and hope.
Syre seemed to be faring more or less well, however; the digimon gesturing for her to take a seat. "Somebody to play with, huh..." The decidedly feminine tone that the PicoDevimon was using sounded amused and somewhat uncertain. "Sure, I think I can play with somebody. Take a seat, take a seat..."
Nevermind the fact that the seat had been gestured at moments. "Now, now, let's see." Quickly scooping up her solitaire match, she proceeded to take a very different deck, colorful enough to recognized from a mile away. UNO.
"I take~ that hairless monkey over there taught you how to play, right?" Side comment aside, she deftly began to shuffle the deck without waiting for a response. "Let's see what you've got."
Things were getting interesting! At least to some degree
