Luke was astonished that his lightning attack had done nothing on the fans. At the very least they should have short circuited? But, he realized, these ruins were ancient and stone. And stone rarely conducted electricity. Yes, if struck directly, it could explode and shatter, but if the mechanisms that operated the fans still remained intact, they would still channel their energy.
Fortunately, in this situation, Iki prevented them from activating their ultimate emergency technique by side-evolving to Angemon and reversing the wind current with a powerful technique. In fact, now that the wind was blowing the other way, Luke felt he could make the jump alone. He grabbed Bellamy in one arm and Colin in the other.
"Alright, get ready, guys!" he said, then when the wind was blowing at its strongest, Luke leapt with his powerful legs across the chasm, blown forward by Iki's wind, and landed on the other side. Now that he was in melee range of the fans, he would make his next action.
"Thunder Lance!" he snarled, then jammed his electrified spear forward into the shaft of the fan directly in front of him. Hopefully the chrome digizoid weapon would be able to hold the ancient mechanism in place long enough for Iki to fly across the chasm unimpeded.

Even though the fan's blades were strong, they weren't made of Chrome Digizoid themselves, and it did indeed get jammed when Luke inserted his spear into it. Before long, everyone had made it to the other side of the pit. Not needing his power form at the moment, Iki slide-evolved back to Falcomon.
"Come. We have quite a ways to go yet," Iki says as he continues on the path, here and there checking his D-Tector for the Spirit's location. He was really beginning to get sick of these death traps.
For example, they came across yet ANOTHER one! Although this one was pretty tame compared to the others, and only an idiot would manage to get killed by it. There would be a single, very obvious tile in the middle of the hallway. Stepping on it would spew fire into the room. However, Iki noticed this panel and simply jumped over it.
Not very threatening. Maybe they were closer than they thought?

"Phew, alright, cool" Colin said as it seemed they had passed through the wind chamber. Hopefully there wouldn't be much further impediment to their progress.
Then they came to the room with a single panel in the middle of it. Bellamy almost doubled with laughter at how ridiculous that was.
"Seriously?! That's it?!" he asked, chortling. Luke however was less amused.
"Careful, Bells, it might not be what it all seems..." he said. Colin was inclined to agree with Luke, but to their shock, Bellamy simply followed Iki, deftly jumping over to the obvious tile, with nothing happening as he did so.
"Don't overthink things guys, yeesh" he said. "It's what ya see, just gotta bite the bullet and go forward!"
Colin then remembered suddenly that Bellamy's crest was Tenacity, so obviously he'd think like that. And with digimentals at stake down here, well, seemed that was something he needed to focus on.
"Okay then..." he said, and he and Luke jumped over the tile. Nothing further opposed their progress to the next room. As they entered, torches seemed to ignite all around the walls. Its structure was laid out as a large cross, with areas to their left, right, and straight forward. All three seemed to result in dead ends, but there was something of a panel in the middle. Colin briefly thought on what they needed to do here. After a quick investigation of the room, the trio found there was nothing else for it but to step on the panel.
And then, the room seemed to burst into life.
To their left, the wall came bursting down, revealing a cage holding a small Dracomon, suspended over a pool of murky water. To their right, the wall fell again, another cage, holding a Labramon, suspended over a pit of pitch, tinder and flammables, which had suddenly burst into flame. And to the front, the wall rose, revealing two digimentals and a spirit totem.
"Oh my god..." Colin breathed, alarmed at the sight. Then, a moment later, all three parts of the room activated. The cages containing the Dracomon and Labramon slowly began to descend, while the wall in front of the digimentals and spirit totem also slowly lowered.
"Colin, we have to save them!" Luke exclaimed at once, as the Dracomon and Labramon realized their peril.
"Help me!" Labramon wailed as his cage neared the flames.
"N-no! I don't wanna die this way!" Dracomon yelped, struggling to get loose, but the cage didn't yield. Colin was suddenly faced with a choice. Save the digimon, or make a dash for the digimentals. It seemed they had to choose here.
But... while Bellamy's crest was Tenacity, Luke's crest was...
"Luke! Bellamy! We have to get Labramon out first! The fire's gonna kill him quicker!" he ordered. "Hold on, Dracomon, we'll help you next!"
Bellamy was momentarily surprised that Colin would do this, but, the kid had Tenacity and Compassion. Immediately, he and Luke did as commanded and rushed over to Labramon. Taking a closer look, it seemed his cage was locked shut. But... surely a key would be around somewhere? Surely... yes! Colin looked and saw a glowing hole in the wall. He ran up to it, and saw that the Key was there. But... some mechanism of the fire had made the hole hot with flame. To get to the key, one would have to reach for it through the fire.
Colin thought initially to evolve Bellamy to Flawizarmon so he could do it, but as Labramon shrieked with panic as the heat of the fire below began to be felt, he immediately lunged forward, grabbed the key, then pulled it out.
"AAAAAGHH!!" Colin cried, dropping it on the floor, his hand throbbing with pain. While he had only been in contact with the fire for a second, it hurt a lot.
"Jesmon Christ Mode, Colin, what the hell were you thinking?!" Bellamy snapped. Colin was hurt, but there was no time to waste.
"Iki, the key! Please, take it up there and unlock his cage!" Colin begged the spirit user.

"Very pathetic," Iki says, commenting about the trap. Surely whoever designed this twisted dungeon had run out of ideas at this point? Or maybe it was some kind of trick to leave adventurers unprepared for what was to come next?
Clearly it was the latter, as the next room lit up and two walls came down, one revealing a Dracomon in a cage descending into murky water, and another with a Labramon in a cage descending into fire. Right in front of them were two Digimentals and a Spirit totem which were also lowering.
Another piece needed to fight RedMagnamon.
Iki's eyes widened... what kind of twisted individual would trap Digimon like this?! Sure he didn't particularly care about Digimon at all, but it was still messed up to no end. Iki watched as Colin reached into a FLAMING HOLE to grab the key for the cages, instantly dropping it upon pulling it out.
Iki was faced with a difficult situation. He could either make a dash for his Spirit - the only reason he even came to this messed up temple - or comply and save some life he didn't care about. At first, the choice seemed easy. He began to run towards the Spirit, but thoughts suddenly came to mind.
Iki! I'm scared! Where are Mom and Dad?!
R-Rebecca?
Iki, please! They're stuck under this rock! We have to help them!
Rebecca, we have to go! Now! They're already dead!
No! They're breathing! We can't leave them! Please! PLEEEASE!
"Augh... damn it!" Iki yells, immediately grabbing the key and flew up to Labramon's cage, unlocking it. If he had time... he'd go for Dracomon's as well.

As Iki flew up to the cage and attempted to use the key to free Labramon, the lock turned and the door opened! Labramon was so panicked from the flames that he leapt out right away, his fur about to ignite. However, since he was 20 feet above the ground this was a little too high. Luke however instinctively dashed in and caught him in time, falling down from the sudden imbalance but protecting the rookie digimon from the shock of the fall.
Next, Colin turned to Dracomon. If Iki attempted to do the same and unlock his cage, it wouldn't work. It seemed a second key was needed for it. But... where was it? Colin, Luke and Bellamy searched quickly around the area, but, no other key was there.
"N-no! I can't swim!" Dracomon wailed, struggling at the bars as his cage eventually touched the water. "Get me out! Please!" tears were starting to roll from his eyes.
Colin by now had twigged on to what was going on. He had been forced to reach through the fire to help save Labramon, so to save Dracomon, he'd have to reach through the water. He was about to dive in when he felt something tug at his shirt. He turned and saw Bellamy glaring up at him.
"Colin, seriously. You have diving gear, remember?!" the Impmon snapped.
"Oh, uh, right" Colin said, turning red with the realization he was seriously considering diving down there without the ability to breathe. He touched his digivice and activated the Diving Gear program, forming a breathing mask over his face. "Dracomon, if you go under, hold your breath as long as you can! I'll get you out!" he promised, then dived into the murky water.
Colin could breathe, but... damn, where was the key?! He searched all around. He could hear the mechanisms of the cage above lowering Dracomon further down. He knew he had only about a minute to act, any longer than that, and... no, he couldn't fathom that.
Just how far down was this pit of water? It was cloudy and murky, so Colin couldn't see far. However, right at the very bottom, about fifty feet down, he saw a light ahead. There! Colin swam to the bottom and pulled out the key from below. Thankfully there were no further traps. He then immediately swam back up, then saw that Dracomon's cage was fully submerged. However, he could help him now. Colin unlocked the door, and pulled Dracomon out. Before long, the two emerged from the surface, Dracomon gasping for breath, alive and safe.
After helping him out of the water pool, Colin climbed out after him. Just as he did so, there was a loud "clunk" as the wall in front of the digimentals and sprit totem finished its descent, apparently barring them from accessing them.
"Damn it... we weren't fast enough!" Bellamy snapped out of frustration. Was that it? Had they failed?

"Of course this same key wouldn't work..." Iki growled, kicking himself mentally for not realizing that sooner. It didn't help that the Dracomon was balling his eyes out in total fear. Thankfully, Colin had a plan and was able to execute it well, getting the Dracomon out of the cage just in time.
However, it came at a price. The Digimentals - and the Beast Spirit - were now lost behind a fallen wall. Iki couldn't believe it... he had wasted his time saving a couple of useless beings and missed his chance only chance for revenge.
No... it couldn't end like this! IT COULDN'T!
"SLIDE EVOLUTION - ANGEMON!"
Evolving into his Spirit Form, Iki then charged his fist with energy and connected it with the wall... this wall was going to come down, one way or another!
"HAND OF FATE!"

Colin and his partners watched as Iki slide-evolved to Angemon again and aimed to blast at the wall. Well, it was understandable, but after Dracomon had finished coughing and Labramon had stopped shaking, the two of them also turned to the Angemon spirit, both smiling a little.
"That won't work" the Labramon explained. "Even if he gets through, those digimentals and the totem are fake".
"Huh?" Colin asked, astonished. "How do you know?"
"Because... we're the keys to the real ones" Dracomon said. "You see... if you had gone for the digimentals first without helping us, the entrance would've been closed off and you would've been trapped down here forever".
"Or a few years before it resets, but long enough for you to starve" the Labramon added. "But you all have passed the test. In ignoring the treasures and items of power ahead and instead rescued us, risking being burned and drowned in doing so, you've proved that you're worthy of the digimentals of Tenacity and Compassion, and the Beast Spirit totem of Wind".
Colin's eyes widened as the two rookie level digimon glowed brightly and turned to orbs of light. They then flew straight at the wall that Angemon was trying to break through, then the stone gate rumbled as it opened once more. It revealed the three fake objects, before they all shattered into data. And behind them... a second wall lowered, revealing three further objects. One was a silver and purple sphere, another a red and blue one. And the third... a spirit totem.
"So... that's it huh?" Bellamy breathed as they approached. While of course it could be a trap, well, what the captive digimon had said was believable. The Impmon had to admit, that was a damn brave and gallant thing that Colin did back there. And Iki was great for helping too. They approached the true relics, Colin then picked up the two digimentals, both of them glowing in response to his touch and soon disappeared into his D-Terminal.
Still in a small state of shock, his black hair and clothes still somewhat soaked through, his hand somewhat red from the burn (it would probably need healing once they get out of here), he turned around and gave a smile at Iki. "I think the other one's yours" he said, letting him get to it.

Iki had failed to destroy the wall that was separating the spirit totem from him. However, it did not matter as the Labramon had revealed them to be fake.
"Wait... what?" Iki asked, more confused than angry. The two Digimon revealed that it was all a test that they had passed, and that they were the real keys for the Spirit and the Digimentals. Iki grimaced to himself: his lust for revenge almost cost him his prize...
What would he do when the time actually came then?
Right now that question didn't matter, as the two saved Digimon became shining lights, revealing another wall which had the real Digimentals... and the real Spirit of the mighty Holsemon. That is when Iki, for the first time, revealing his human form to Colin and the twins.
The man was obviously in his twenties. He had silver hair, and golden eyes that lacked any emotion. His mouth a constant neutral state, wearing a black trench coat with a dark green shirt underneath. This man looked... troubled.
Iki walked up closer to the Beast spirit, his D-Tector beeping. It is time...
The Spirit User held his D-Tector towards the spirit, causing the device to absorb it. As he did, the wind in the area began to pick up more and more. Now was the time...
On Iki's left hand, a jumble of fractal code appeared, which he would then scan with the D-Tector in his right hand. "EXECUTE! BEAST SPIRIT EVOLUTION!"
As soon as Iki yells this, the wind around him picks up to insane levels, forming a mini non-destructive tornado. Colin and the twins could hear Iki scream within the tornado, as his body was shifting much more than normal. Finally, the tornado gave way, revealing a new Digimon...
"Holsemon!"

Colin and his partners stared as the Angemon seemed to turn back into a human for the first time. As expected, he seemed a bit older than Colin, with silver hair. Bellamy raised an eyebrow.
"Can never get used to spirit users I gotta say" he muttered. Not that he had any malice against them, just it was always somewhat alien to see a digimon turn into a human and vice versa. They observed as Iki took possession of the spirit totem, and immediately used it to access his Beast Spirit form.
"Colin, Bells, get back!" Luke advised, the Teslamon pulling Colin and his brother back from the tornado before they were caught in it. The wind blew at the flames of the fire and made the water ripple, but caused no real damage. Then the evolution stabilized, and Iki's Holsemon form was revealed.
"Huh, cool" Colin remarked, but didn't have much more to say than that, until once again he felt Bellamy tugging on his shirt.
"Can we try out ours, Col?" he asked eagerly.
"Well..." Colin supposed there wasn't harm in trying. He accessed his D-Terminal, selected the digimentals, then activated them. Light shone from the D-Terminal to his D-Arc, then he raised the device high. As he did so, Luke de-digivolved back to his rookie form. "Digiarmor Energize!" Colin called.
"Impmon armor digivolve to...!"
At once, Bellamy grew to as tall as he was, four silvery wings forming on his back, coated with glass panels. Two large guns formed in his metal hands, and a large hat formed on his head. Dressed as a cowboy, he tipped the front of his hat up, revealing his face. "Satellamon" he finished.
"Elecmon armor digivolve to...!"
Luke grew even taller than Bellamy, and much larger in bulk too. His face grew longer and more canine like, the spikes on his tail disappeared and then reappeared on his shoulders. Leather armor covered one of his shoulders, spiked knuckles appeared on his fists, and for the first time of his life, he was wearing pants. "RedWeregarurumon!"
"Whoa, damn, Luke!" Bellamy exclaimed, hovering around his brother. "You're freakin' packed! Wow, ya could grate cheese on those abs!"
"Heh, come on, Bells, I'm not that big" Luke said a little shyly. But he did like how strong he seemed to be in this form. "And you don't look too bad yourself... might want a smaller hat though?"
"Nah, this feels right". While the brothers were bantering about their new forms, Colin turned to Iki.
"Well, thanks for helping us through here" he said. "It was good working with you, Iki. Hope we can work again sometime".
"Hm? Ah, right, yeah" Bellamy said, nodding. Luke concurred as well.
"Right then... I suppose we're all done here I guess" Colin said. With that, he and his partners departed the chamber, carefully going back the way they came. The fans were not reactivated, the spiked passage did not trigger, and they were able to leave via the hole they had entered. With that, they parted ways, looking for the next part of their adventure.
