Sun, Sand and Sunshine [Calliope]

Calliope remained facing the other way a bit flustered and twiddling her thumbs while she waited. She simply looked up towards the sky in silence waiting to hear some sort of response from him. Sandmon looked at her tamer before tapping her leg “you look lost in thought.” Calliope looked down at the Digimon before petting her head “I do that sometimes, I’m alright.” Sandmon purred at her pet then went silent once again. Calliope heard Desmond say she could turn around now, she paused for a moment before looking over her shoulder at him. Luckily he decided against removing his jeans, that way they both avoided a potentially awkward conversation. Sandmon looked at the boy confused “I thought you said-” Calliope quickly hushed her partner knowing exactly what she was about to say. She picked up Sandmon and approached him when he asked then sat down next to him. Being bundled in the jacket and next to him definitely helped fight of the cold air. She unconsciously nuzzled closer to him with Sandmon cradled in her arms. Looking on at the sky she saw the amazing array of colors that varied from warm oranges to reds to pinks.
It was a while since she sat on the beach and watched a sunset, but it was a nice scene none the less. When he said the sunset was beautiful she nodded in agreement “yeah it really is, I’ve always enjoyed the sunsets that are over water” she liked how the ocean reflected the light in the water. Sandmon quickly began to dose off while the sun was setting. Calliope looked down at her then responded to Desmond “same, just one of those things people take for granted, I guess.” She looked up at him when he was quiet, upon seeing him smile she smiled right back at him.
Calliope then went back to watching the colors fade through the sky as the sun finished setting on the day. The pinks, reds, and oranges turned to blue and then faded into a purple night sky filled with twinkling stars. She was amazed how natural the digital world’s sky looked, if she didn’t know any better she would have laid back and tried to look for constellations. It made her a bit sad that it wasn’t the real sky since it was pretty non the less. “wow, that’s… just wow” she really didn’t have the words to describe the sky. Calliope didn’t realize she was actually tired until he asked looking at him she nodded “a little bit.” To be honest she hadn’t been sleeping very well since she got to the digital world due to the fact she was always alerted by little sounds that went on in the night. When he offered to lay down she nodded, laying down next to him.
Now they were able to look up at the sky at their leisure. The sand was soft on her back compared to the dirt floor of the forest they were traveling “this is surprisingly comfortable.” She set Sandmon on her chest to let the Digimon sleep while they stayed up to watch the stars. The Greek girl easily became entranced by the stars tracing their lines into images that popped into her head. She looked over at Desmond when he was pointing to the sky trying to trace out an image, she giggled amused by his action. She wondered if there were Digimon who mapped out the starts just like people do or if they have their own perceptions. Hearing his statement regarding him not knowing which one he liked more, she shrugged, she wouldn’t know which one he liked more either. Upon him asking her she thought about it for a moment, which one did she like more? Thinking about all the past times she watched one or the other she finally thought about what she like seeing more “the stars… I always liked looking at the stars and hearing stories about the constellations in the sky” she looked over at him continuing on her statement “it might sound a bit sappy but I always thought the sun looked lonely compared to the stars, you only see one sun in the middle of the day but you see billions of stars in the sky, but I could just be over thinking it.”

Desmond was happy to know that Calliope was comfortable next to him. He too was comfortable and it has been a while since he felt that way. Looking at the stars above and hearing her say that she likes stars better than the sunset, the blond tamer had to agree as well. "I've never seen it that way, the sun being lonely." It was kind of poetic and cute at the same time. He continued moving his fingers from stars to stars while smiling. He had absolutely no idea what he was looking for but he could trace a series of stars into a heart. Or something that looked like one, very vaguely. It was most likely his crush on Calliope that made him see that. He began giggling to himself before turning his head on one side to look at the brunette. "Do you see anything?" He asked with a smile. In his mind, he wanted to say something cheesy but couldn't muster the will to do so. He was going to tell her that the stars looked lonely compared to her eyes. Or something like that. But he just looked at her with his rosy cheeks and smile. The Frenchman kept turning his head to look at her, hoping to see a glimpse of her beautiful eyes in the dim light provided by his partner, the DemiMeramon. But just seeing her face next to his was enough, just enough to make him feel butterflies. Okay, maybe a bit more than just enough.
And then, he looked up again and saw something he never saw before. It was a bright shooting star crossing the sky in long arc. His eyes lit up in amazement. So this world has those as well. He was genuinely joyful to be able to see that. "Did you saw that?" He quickly while pointing to where the star went by for a second. "I think it was a shooting star!" He would keep his arm extended with his finger pointing to the night sky. "I think we should make a wish. That's what people do when that happens right?" He was going to make one anyway. But he wasn't sure if he was going to do it out loud. Instead, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a second. What should he wish for? He could wish for love, but rather, he chose to wish for her to stay for just a little bit longer. She might not share his feelings but as long that she's around, he was going to be happy. At that moment, he knew that he wanted not to be happy himself, but that she would be happy, with him. Sure, he wasn't going to ask to marry him nor even date him. He just wanted to be with her as long as she wants him around.
"I heard once that some people would go hunting for shooting stars. Like that it would magically fill a void or something." He began talking while looking at her. "I wonder what it would happen to them if they actually find one. Do they keep on looking to have more wishes? That sounds a bit sad to be fair. Hunting for wishes." Desmond knew that he did not have to hunt any shooting star if he was to be alone when he would see them. He was more than happy seeing this one, just because he wasn't alone and that he had the chance to be there, with Calliope. After a few seconds of looking at her, he would look up once more. "I doubt that it's going the be only one we will ever see, but I don't think that it's a bad thing." He was hoping that Calliope wasn't tired of him talking by now. Maybe it was because he felt so comfortable that he was talking that much. Or that he had someone to talk to for once.
"I wonder how many people saw that one shooting star." He then mused. He paused for a second and laughed softly. "Or more, what did they wish for." That was his not so subtle attempt at asking what she wished for.

Calliope chuckled at her own thought “it might just be a silly way to look at it but it’s just always how I felt, the sun is large and what brings us light but it’s all by it’s self… but then you have the stars who keep the moon and themselves company.” She shrugged her shoulder’s against the sand “I always grew up hearing myths about the sun god Apollo and after hearing about how many times his love life went awry it made me kind of feel bad.” She continued to look at the stars turning her head to address Desmond’s question “do I see anything?” she looked up and squinted “I see…” she paused before smiling “a seal!” it was a small cluster of stars that looked vaguely like the shape of a seal “they never fail to amuse me.” She was curious if there were Digimon in the water, maybe there was a Digimon that looked like a seal.
Calliope gazed up literally staring off into space, the scene in the sky was peaceful enough that she could doze off without a care. She suddenly became amazed when the star shot across the sky “I see it!” The Greek girl didn’t know that it would happen in the digital world “wow, it’s so pretty.” she brightened up watching it as it trailed across the sky “I haven’t seen a shooting star since I was much younger!” Sandmon jolted up at their speaking of the star, she looked up in absolute awe. The Digimon wagged it’s tinny tail when Desmond said it meant they needed to make a wish “really we get a wish?” before it could be confirmed or denied the Digimon gazed back up at the star and began to wish. Calliope chuckled and nodded at Desmond “The Greeks believed it was a sign that the gods would give us a wish if we asked upon the star.” Seeing that he was going to try and make a wish Calliope decided she was at least going to try as well. She closed her eyes and began thinking of what she wanted most in the world. Her thoughts were pretty silent, she knew of somethings but she for some reason couldn’t bring herself to wish for it. instead, she wished for "luck"… luck for her, luck for Desmond, and luck for everyone else in the digital world who was facing hardships. She opened her eyes to see a bouncy Sandmon “Calliope guessed what I wished for!” She smiled at the Digimon “what’s that?” Sandmon made herself look bolder as she stated “I wish that I’ll get stronger so Digimon like Allomon won’t bully or hurt you anymore.” Calliope patted her head “you’ll get there Sandmon I believe in you!” even if she was small now Calliope knew the Digimon had potential.
Calliope looked back at Desmond when he began talking about how people would hunt down shooting stars she was curious how far a person would go to get it “I have no idea what would happen if people found the stars they hunted after, I just hope they get what the need… but sometimes people need a little more to look for in their lives” she wondered what a shooting star would look like once it hit the ground “maybe one day we’ll run across one… maybe shooting stars are different in this world.” She smiled at the thought of finding a shooting star. Calliope liked the idea of watching the stars every night, it was so much fun to point out stars with someone and just be in company under a gorgeous night sky “I’m actually looking forward to it.” she stretched her arms and felt the sand on the back of her head. “I wonder just how many people are here in the digital world...” she smiled at his indirectly asking what she wished for “maybe they wished for everyone to be lucky here, that’s what I would wish for… what about you?”

Desmond smiled when Calliope's partner told her that she wanted to be stronger. "Oh, I'm sure you will be strong. Even stronger than that Allomon." He softly said as he looked at her. After hearing the brunette telling him that she wished for luck, the Frenchman nodded. "Luck sounds good actually." He then said as he looked back at the stars. "I wish for..." And he stopped himself to think. "I wish to... To not be alone." He decided to not tell her that he wanted to stay with her. "I wouldn't have wished for that a few weeks ago. But upon meeting DemIMeramon, and you and Sandmon, I can't believe I stayed on my own for so long without knowing what it is to have people you love around you..." He didn't realize that he said love and not like. He just smiled at and took a deep breath.
He began wondering if his own partner felt the same if he wasn't sleeping right now. Maybe he should wake him up just to ask him if he had a wish as well. Knowing him, he would have most likely wished for more food to eat. He had that childish personality but it wasn't a bad thing. "Should I wake DemiMeramon?" He then asked the girl next to him. "I mean, it is a pretty beautiful night sky. Maybe he would like seeing it?" The blond tamer hesitated for a moment looking at the stars. After a few seconds of thinking, he decided that it would be best for him to wake him up, if only so that he wouldn't be sad in the morning for missing the shooting star. Well, he would have already missed it but he was sure that he would be more than happy to get a wish. "You know, I'll go wake him up, just so he can make a wish."
And with that, Desmond stood up and made his way toward the sleeping fireball that was only a few feet away from them. He would squat down and place a hand on the Digimon's head. "Hey, wake up little buddy." The DemiMeramon lazily opened his large blue eyes and turned around to look at his tamer. "Look."And the Frenchman pointed up. The Digimon slowly moved his gaze toward the sky and his eyes lit up. "Ohhh! Are those stars?" He asked while pointed at the sky as well. "Yes, they are." The human then picked him up and made his way back toward Calliope and her partner. "All of them?" The little fireball asked while he was getting carried. "Erm, I guess? I'm not sure if they are all stars..." Or if they were stars at all now that he thought of it. But then he didn't want to confuse his partner. "I mean, yes. All of them and guess what?"
"What?" Desmond sat down next to Calliope with DemiMeramon floating on his lap. "You get to have a wish." The DemiMeramon was confused now. "Why?" He asked while still looking up. "Just wish for something, anything." He didn't really answer his question but maybe it was better if he kept it simple. "Anything?" He repeated after him. "Anything I want?" Desmond nodded and leaned back a bit. "I wish for..." The Digimon looked down for a second and then up again and would do that for a few seconds. "I wish for..." It was clear that he was having a hard time trying to decide what to wish for. The DemiMeramon began glowing a bit brighter and a smile drew on his face. "I wish for Desmond!" He then shouted. "And Calliope! And Sandmon!" He quickly shouted before his tamer could say anything. "What do you mean?" The tamer then asked with a slight hesitation.
"I want all of you to be with me!" That made the blond tamer smiled and then lay his back on the sand. "Well, I can promise you that I'm not going anywhere without you." The DemiMeramon was very happy to hear this. "And as for Calliope and Sandmon..." Desmond turned his head to look at the brunette and then the Digimon with a smile on his face and his cheeks still a bit rose. "You will have to ask them yourself."

Sandmon felt glee upon having someone other than her tamer believing she would get stronger “Oh boy, Stronger than Allomon? I can’t wait!” she bounced around excitedly. Calliope couldn’t help but laugh at her Digimon, her joy brought a grin to the girls face. She rubbed the back of her head when he said that luck sounded good “we need it in this world but we aren’t the only ones, I just hope the luck spreads and dosen’t run out.” She seemed kind of surprised that Desmond’s wish was to not be alone, she didn’t think he was the one to feel alone especially not with DemiMeramon, but she understood where he was coming from. She sat up and looked right up at the stars “well it’s kind of like the reverse of not knowing what you have until it’s gone, you know what I mean? It’s not knowing what’s gone until you have it.” She shrugged her shoulders and chuckled “I swear it made more sense in my head.”
She laid back down raising her brow when he asked if he should wake DemiMeramon to see the stars “I think should, he would probably really enjoy it.” DemiMeramon seemed like the Digimon who liked whimsy “go ahead before he misses it.” she sat up and watched the Frenchman walk to his Digimon and wake the little fire ball. She waited eagerly to see his reactions to the shooting stars, the human giggled at DemiMeramon’s question. She was actually curious about his second one, was the sky just full of stars or were there other planets like with earth. DemiMeramon wouldn’t be the only one confused about the idea of what else was in the sky besides the stars. When Desmond stated the fireball would get a wish from the star Calliope nodded “where we’re from people wish upon stars, I see no reason why Digimon shouldn’t be able two as well.” She was curious if there were Digimon who wished upon stars or if the idea was foreign all together. She smiled when DemiMeramon asked if he could ask for anything “Anything your little heart desires.” The Tamer had no idea what the Digimon wanted most in the world it was fun trying to guess in her head though. Though she was initially shocked by his initial answer Calliope though it was adorable of him “Aww that’s sweet DemiMeramon.” She paused for a moment and then realized something “his wish is similar to yours Desmond.” The Greek listened to his further explanation on the wish feeling endeared by his reasoning, Sandmon even felt touched by his answer.
Sandmon wiggled back into the group of three as Desmond explained that he wasn’t going to leave DemiMeramon anytime soon. She didn’t know how her tamer would respond to being asked that because of the fact that Calliope is still dead set on finding her brother. What she did know was Calliope wasn’t one to give up on others. Calliope paused for a moment seemingly lost in thought by the question. But it only took her a moment to reinsert her mind back into the conversation “none of us are going anywhere DemiMeramon, We’re sticking together!” she looked at, then picked up Sandmon “right Sandmon?” Sandmon grew a wide bright smile “Right! And I’ll make sure protect you all-” The Digimon suddenly glowed in a similar manor to what happened when she became Sandmon in the first place "Because my wish is to become stronger!" Calliope placed Sandmon Back down then shielded her eyes from the light the Digivice in her pocket began glowing with a strange marking. After a moment the light faded from the device and the Digimon, what was left was an odd miniature T-Rex appearing creature. Calliope almost stumbled over her words “S-Sandmon?”

Desmond didn't realize at first that the DemiMeramon's wish was very similar to his. The blond tamer smiled at the fireball and laid down on the sand once more. He looked at the stars and couldn't help but to take mental pictures of that view. He would try to keep that moment as clear as possible in his mind. Perhaps one day, he will be looking at the stars and remember the view, the Digimon and of course, the girl. He would have taken his cell phone but wasn't sure where it was right now but didn't want to stand up to get it anyway. So he just scanned the starlit sky and take a deep breath before turning his attention to his little partner.
"You will have us around." The blond male would say to him after a short moment of silence. "This way, you can hug us every day." Hearing that made the Digimon very happy. The fireball inched closer to his tamer with his blue eyes wide open. "Every day?" He repeated with a smile. Desmond would shift into a sitting position and take a deep breath. "Yes, every day." The Frenchman extended his arms toward him. "Like now." His partner jumped on him and hugged his tamer and laugh out loud. Desmond also began laughing and looked at Calliope to see if she were as well. He would let his partner hug him for a bit longer before giving a gentle pat on his head. "Now, go see Calliope." He then said. "I'm sure she wants a big hug as well."
The blond tamer wasn't sure if she wanted one but hoped that she would play along. The child Digimon was about to hug the girl when he saw Sandmon digivolving. Both tamer and partner stopped moving while shielding their eyes. And then, a new Digimon appeared from where Sandmon was. This one was much larger than before and looked a small dinosaur. The DemiMeramon went to hide beside Calliope and poke her on the side. It wasn't the first time he has seen her change form but it was always impressive. "Sandmon?" He would timidly ask while trying to use Calliope has a shield. "Is she Sandmon?"
Desmond didn't know what was her name now but knew that she was on their side. "Don't worry, DemiMeramon." He would say before standing. He took a careful look at her new form and then smile. It seems that her wish to be stronger just came true. He would then make his way toward Calliope and his partner and sat on the sand next to Calliope and would grab him into his arms. "Nothing to worry about." He repeated to the fireball. "Why don't you go hug her?" He then proposed. Hearing the word hug made the Digimon turn his attention to Desmond and then Sandmon. "Can I?" He asked shyly. "Go ask her, you'll see." The DemiMeramon would float away from Desmond's arms and stand still for a short moment. He would then slowly move inches by inches toward Calliope's partner.
"Do you want a hug?"
