Rough Beginnings [Haru+Tawna]

Mikemon didn't expect perfection from Tawna - that would have hardly been fair, considering the circumstances! But she was at least able to control herself well enough to not approach the table, to not risk having the egg tip over against the side of the incubator. The doctor observed from a closer distance, not trying to disturb the egg, only very lightly gripping the edges of the table.
The egg stopped. The light pulsed through the cracked shell... and there it was. The YukimiBotamon, giving her first loud cry into the world. Yes, it was more than a normal baby Digimon would have given off, but what could Mikemon expect? The very last vestiges of thought Haru had before being reborn might have felt like it was just a bare few seconds ago... not that Mikemon would concern Tawna with the thought.
Rather, he simply gave a nod to Tawna, allowing her to both open the incubator and pick up the cat-slime. She did well-enough, but the doctor was still quick to correct her: "Not just in your two hands like that. Here..." Stepping around the front, the doctor would gently guide Tawna's hands and arms, allowing her to more comfortably cradle the YukimiBotamon. Perhaps Tawna would have been reminded of when Haru held the infants in relatively the same way. Through his own tears, Mikemon gave a smile:
"Baby Digimon quickly grow to trust those who hold them in the first half-hour. I know its hard, but smile, and look her eye to eye, as best you can, alright?"

It... was a surreal feeling what Tawna was experiencing right now. She was more happy than she ever was in the past two weeks just being able to feel the soft, velvet-y fur of the slime ball that had just hatched in her hands... She had not even thought of how she was holding this new life might have been not proper. Fortunately, an actual parent was there to quickly fix things as she was shown how to properly hold the YukumiBotamon.
She did not feel ready for this. Her body wanted to just immediately retreat to under the bed and pretend none of this was happening... but she knew that wasn't an option. She had to remain strong... for everyone.
"I-I see..." Tawna hesitantly responded back to Mikemon, though her mind was occupied trying to comfort this small, scared creature in her arms. She has seen baby Digimon before, but none so freshly-hatched like this Yukumi Botamon. It... was a bit scary, even if she knew this thing was harmless. So why was her body shivering...?
None of that mattered now.
Tawna took a deep breath as she tried to begin gently rock the creature in her arms... her attempt at emulating what she had seen human mothers do for their own children. "... Its okay. You won't be hurt anymore." she gently whispered at the sobbing baby Digimon, their screams fading down to a weak whimper... they mainly just having already tuckered out from their cries. While the creature's eyes were shut mostly, they did gently open one eye to gaze at their surroundings... meeting eye to eye with Tawna first and foremost as their attention was drawn to the remainder of the picture.
An overwheming amount of information for a child... but something about the two cat digimon's presences after calming down felt comforting to the small Digimon.
For now, a gentle peace was acquired... Tawna too mesmerized cradling this small creature that was once her friend... and in a way, potentially her worst enemy.

Soft footfalls heralded Doctor Cross's presence as she crossed over into the lab and keyed in the code for the door into the room Haru and Tawna had been being held within. Only stopping to pause somewhat unsure at the threshold. The Doctor looked normal enough carefully hidden beneath her holosuit though the way she leaned against the doorframe spoke of deep exhaustion. Though perhaps more worryingly in Mikemon's case was the way she had been avoiding him. "Ah." Cas murmured her voice flat, nearly dead with it's lack of inflection as she stared at the small fuzzy cat slime held in Tawna's arms rather then meet Mikemon's gaze. "I see the egg has hatched." The Doctor spoke finally forcing herself into the room one step at a time, but keeping a wary distance between herself and Tawna and Haru. The little Digimon's reaction hopefully being telling enough to reveal whether her work had won out in the end or if...if she would have to do it again or worse...put Tawna down in her grief.

"There we go... nice and easy."
Guiding Tawna's arms into place, the Mikemon would give a light smile, to both comfort Haru and encourage Tawna. Now properly cradling the YukimiBotamon, she honestly looked, well, like she was 'used' to the part. With a soft smile, he'd peer gently over at Haru, not adding his own words, simply allowing Tawna to do what she needed to do. With the child's reactions, there was no doubt in Mikemon's heart that this was, indeed, Haru.
The confirming doctor, however, was quick to make her appearance. Mikemon's ear twitched, lightly showing his fangs as Cassandra made her appearance. He didn't mean much by it - if anything, the stress had gotten to him - but he was relatively defensive of the baby Digimon's condition.
Still, he understood. This was their agreement from the start, and Mikemon wasn't about to back down from it. "Yes. She has hatched." Mikemons' tone was careful - both not wanting to say something that would overstate their welcome, but also not wanting to upset Tawna.
Quickly, his mind pieced together a compromise. "If you can, scan her data without taking Haru from her arms. I appreciate your... hospitality, in all of this."

While still just a newborn, Haru appeared to have their infantile worries erased as they were softly rocked in the Meicoomon's arms, Tawna even trilling a purr as the maine coon Digimon weakly smiled... her eyes were flooded with emotions, but overall they were positive; the YukumiBotamon practically sponging up the attention. "See...? There is nothing to be scared of... Its just us." Tawna quietly whispered, not knowing as to what was going on in the Fresh level's mind, but the squeaky babbling from the baby Digimon seemed to suggest they weren't completely lost.
This reunion though was not going unnoticed either... Tawna flinched as doctor Cassandra made her entrance, for a moment the Meicoomon actually meekly unable to decide what to do or say. Science work was in order it seemed, and while she still had mixed feelings about everything that Cas had done here... if it weren't for them, they might have not had this chance. While her gaze was not drawn away from the now quiet YukumiBotamon, the twin doctors did have her full attention. "Is there... anything you want me to do?" the former aato asked, holding Haru closely to her person.
At least... she thought it was Haru. Those beady black eyes that this small blob had... they shared that same innocence that she had came to know about Haru. Still, WAS it really them? "... Let me know if there is anything wrong." the Meicoomon spoke, her ears tilting downward... her pessimistic nature not completely given up yet.

Cas paused pain flashing brief and bright through her eyes as she took a startled step back at Mikemon's unexpected greeting, before she gutted those emotions. Cutting them out like cancer as her eyes hardened flat and cold as metal as she finished her approach carefully standing just out of reach of the two cats and the fluffy blob of a digimon that may or may not be Haru.
"I have no intention of touching her." The Doctor intoned voice empty, curt, and business like as she leveled her advanced scanner at the little Digimon flicking it on as the device began it's work.
"Once the scanner runs it's course all I need from you Tawna is to lift her up so she looks at me. If there is no immediate murderous reaction it is likely safe to say it is Haru." Cassandra explained deciding it was perhaps best to leave out just why the Hunter would want to rip her throat out finding herself thankful once more that Tawna had been asleep for such an act.
"If that is the case then my team intends to release her and yourself into Mikemon's custody." The Doctor added knowing her Colleague would be able to handle whatever complications came from there. Though if the scans showed the newly hateched mon was relatively stable the risk of such would be decidedly low.

Mikemon didn't like this.
He didn't want to show his fangs to Cassandra, he didn't want to suspect her of anything untoward the group. But he was also largely brought to this place, not against his will, but shrouded in mystery. In fact, he had no idea where he had spent the last two weeks, his only communication being with Cassandra via the occasional Post-It Note brought along with the pop-tart boxes - and even that relied on his very rudimentary knowledge of written Japanese to understand.
Thankfully, Cassandra's actions simply fell within expectations: both a scan and a behavioral check to make sure that the child was, indeed, not Hunter. It didn't take long for the cat to relax. Still keeping his gaze on the doctor, he gave a small nod, and a slight, relieved breath out.
His eyes briefly flicked down to the white slime in Tawna's arms, Mikemon's expression gaining a soft smile. "We'll get to go home soon, don't you worry. Cas is here to help."
Dr. Mikemon had to believe in her, right now. After all, she had trusted him with almost as heavy of a task.

Tawna was protective of this small creature, but her overall attitude regarding all of this was... docile, perhaps a bit weak-hearted. It was a heavy sign of just how this entire ordeal affected her, and not completely for the better. Still, she complied with the woman's demands as she allowed the scan to happen; taking care to make sure the newborn did not fidget too much in her arms... fortunately the YukumiBotamon was a surprisingly calm patient despite their earlier outburst.
Regarding the scan, no active abnormalities were present... not a trace of foreign data was present in the tiny body of this white bean. Beyond just a heavily-compressed amount of data stored in their petite form (to be expected perhaps considering the amount the body's previous host had accumulated), they were nothing more but a healthy specimen of a Fresh level Digimon. A good sign for their continued health as there was no trace of D-Reaper data... but also whatever human data that had been prior absorbed was impossible to differentiate now beyond there being different wave-lengths between what primarily composed the body and what it had been prior.
The YukumiBotamon gazed at Cassandra as they were finished being scanned, held outward to be given a better look at the blonde woman... Favorably, a merely curious look on their face as they seemed to babble gibberish. It was impossible to exactly tell what they were saying, but it was at least not hostile in its tone. There was no gurantee that it was still Haru yet, but it at least seemed to Tawna that it was not the Hunter if Cas's theory of a hostile reaction signifying the Hunter's revival was true.
Still... it was somewhat a relief in Tawna's mind, especially with the knowledge that if Cassandra deemed things acceptable, they would be both free.
All in all, it could be said the process was nothing but an astounding success... Maybe a bitter victory, but a victory nonetheless at least. Tawna scooped the YukumiBotamon in her arms once more as she softly stroked their soft fur, she gazing at Cassandra with a pitiable look before shutting her eyes to stop herself from breaking up. "... Thank you. Thank you."

When the YukiBotamon failed to react in a hostile manner and the scans returned clean some of the tension the Doctor hadn't even been aware she was holding melted from her frame. Lifting her D-terminal with a nod she activated it with careful fingers only flinching briefly from the pressure before the low humm of a portal charging filled the air. "As I told you before you shouldn't thank me, but you are welcome all the same." Cassandra murmured offering Tawna a small nod before turning her gaze to Mikemon once more settling her eyes just on his ears rather then meet his gaze directly. It was better this way. Easier.
"This portal will drop you back at the location you were picked up from. I apologize for the secrecy." The Doctor spoke voice flat, mechanical, tired...
"If there are further complications you know how to contact me." She intoned as the portal opened with a soft hiss and whirl of power.

Thankfully, the YukimiBotamon's scan returned clean.
During the process of the scan itself, the tension in the air could have been cut with a knife, so much so that the doctor avoided Cassandra's gaze as much as he could - instead, largely keeping Haru distracted from the light 'static' feeling from the scanner. Well, that wasn't entirely it: Mikemon's own eyes were also scanning Haru's data, as if to get his own 'data set' in case it would have disagreed with the doctor's.
It wasn't necessary. His result came to about the same as Cassnadra's, and the YukimiBotamon's incoherent babbling was about as typical a response as they could expect. Soon enough, the portal was open - and Cassandra's broken eye-contact wasn't missed.
He gave a nod, not responding with words... before breaking his own 'eye contact', looking off to the side.
"... Thank you." Those two words sounded sincere, and even apologetic. "We'll talk again later. Hopefully in a better place than this."
He gave a nod, and would help Tawna through the portal - just back outside the Library. With one more relieved sigh, his expression brightened, carefully bringing an arm around Tawna's shoulder. "C'mon. I still have Syre's nursery stuff set up. We can get her nice, settled in, and comfortable."

You could perhaps hear a pin drop with the tenseness in the air as the diagnosis was complete... Tawna honestly was hesitant what she would do if things came out poorly, but fortunately that conclusion was not to be as Cassandra seemed to give things the clear; readying up the portal back home.
Tawna managed to breath a bit easier now knowing that at least things were looking up now. Things were not going to be good for a long time... but they'd all get there, wouldn't they? The Meicoomon softly nodded at their host's words, gazing down at the YukumiBotamon in her arms... Haru letting out a soft yawn in the Champion level's arms. Giving one last look to Cassandra, Tawna followed Mikemon through the portal... they arriving back at the library.
How long has it been since she was here...? It was honestly intimidating to be finally back, but here she was... Giving Mikemon an unsure glance as his arm wrapped around her, Tawna felt somewhat overwhelmed about what she was being tasked doing. She had to help care for her former tamer and hide the incident from their fellow members. She... she wasn't ready to tell the truth, not yet. "... Doctor, I just want to ask you one thing. Can you promise me you will not tell anyone the truth about this... Not yet. Haru needs to recover first." she asked, though deep down... she couldn't help but worry that recovery was not a possibility.
No... They all would walk away from this, one day or another. For now... They just had to endure.

Thankfully, the two would find themselves on the other side of the portal without an issue - and to any casual observer, perhaps the three cats would look 'natural enough'. The Meicoomon cradled the yawning, tired kitten, as Mikemon looked on with his own exhausted smile. It wouldn't be long before they were inside...
... But at that request, Mikemon's ear twitched. He considered it for a moment, before giving a nod. "Alright, I promise. For now, she can be a... niece, or someone I'm looking after. Holly?" That seemed to fit, if only as the first name that popped into his head.
This... well. This was going to be difficult for all of them.
