Desmond was sitting on a bench in the Trailmon Terminal with his partner, the DemiMeramon who was enjoying a chocolate bar. He missed the last train to the real world so now he was waiting for the next one. But he wasn't sure if he wanted to go back now that he took more time to think about it. While he did stay in the Digital world for a few weeks now, he had to admit that it was a nice vacation of a sort. Minus the fact that he almost got eaten by a giant dinosaur. But other than that, he met a girl that he liked but in the end, they decided to part ways. He was quite sad about it but ultimately, it wasn't that bad. So here he was, waiting for something to happen. He then heard a voice calling his name. "Desmond." The small Digimon began poking him. The blond tamer just slowly turned his head to look at the living fireball. "Uh?" The DemiMeramon showed him the empty warping of the chocolate bar he was eating with a smile on his face hoping that he would have more of it. "Sorry, I don't have more on me." The Digimon looked down and made a sad face. The human sighed. "I'll go get some at the next vending machines." And with that, the DemiMeramon eyes lit up and he joyfully began floating up and down. "Whee!"
The Frenchman then heard the distant sound of something moving. It must be one of the trains or Trailmon coming to the Terminal. He stood up and waited for it to come at them. It would take only half a minute for it to appear and stop a few meters to his left. "Alright, let's go home." He softly said to his partner before taking him in his arms. "Oh!" The Digimon began moving one of his tiny arms to one direction. Desmond stopped moving and turned around to look at what he was pointing at. It was a vending machine. Well, he did say that he would get him more chocolate. The blond tamer slowly made his way to the machine and looked at its contents. He took out his Digivive and passed it in front of a scanner thing and heard a slight beeping sound. He then pressed on a button and a long bar of chocolate came out of it. He bent down to place the Digimon on the ground and take the chocolate bar before removing the warping and giving it to his partner. "Take your time eating this one, okay?"
And with that done, Desmond turned around to look at the Trailmon that was now waiting for people to get in or out. He hesitated to get in. He could always come back, or at least that is what he heard. He only knew that he could get out of the digital world but had no clue how to get back. So he just stayed silent and still for a few more seconds. "Desmond." The little voice made him look down at the Digimon. "Uh?" His first thought was that he already finished his chocolate bar but it wasn't the case. He saw his little partner point to one of the doors of the wagons of the Trailmon. He saw the door open and for some reason, he just looked at it as a girl came out of it. She did look kind of lost, to be honest. "Desmond." This time the blond tamer did not move his head. "I think we should hug her." That suggestion made him roll his eyes and sigh. "We don't have to hug everyone we meet, DemiMeramon."
But it was already too late, the DemiMeramon was already floating toward the girl. "Hai! Hai!" He shouted with his bar of chocolate, that was now melting on his hand. "I'm DemiMeramon! This is Desmond. Can I hug you?" He had the look of an innocent child hoping that she would say yes. Desmond just sighed again before slowly making his way toward the girl as well hoping that she wasn't going to freak out seeing a fireball coming to hug her. "Hey. It's okay, he won't burn you."

The DemiMeramon head, or face, tilted on one side when the girl said that she didn't know that monsters liked chocolate. He looked at the bar and then back to the girl, who seemed to be afraid maybe? The Digimon inched closer to her and then extended his hand to show her the chocolate bar. "Do you like chocolate too?" He asked like a little child. "There's plenty there!" And he pointed to the vending machine a few meters away from them. Sam could now see Desmond with a hand on his face while sighing heavily. "DemiMeramon..." He began half whispering. Mostly to himself. "Here! You can have mine!" And he began floating up and down while waving the half melted bar in the air. He would wait for her to do something before waving it again. "It's very good!" He said with a large smile.
"DemiMeramon." Desmond said his face louder this time making his partner turn around. "Give her some space." The Digimon didn't really understand why he should do that. He was just offering him some good chocolate so he just looked at him with a confused look. "Also, your bar is melting." That made the Digimon quickly look at his hand and saw that it wasn't really a bar anymore but more of a puddle. He began licking his hand trying to salvage as much chocolate as he could with no real success. After realizing that he lost the battle, he shrank a bit and looked at the ground quite sad. The blond tamer sighed once more. "I'll get you another one." He didn't mind spending those virtual bits anyway. "Now, be gentle and give her a bit of space, okay?" The living fireball nodded and went to hug his leg and hold that hug for a few seconds. Desmond had to shake his leg a bit for his partner to back away from the hug and then began spinning around on himself.
"Sorry about that." He said calmly or at least tried to sound calm to let the girl know that he wasn't going to hurt her. "You are in the erm..." He wasn't sure if he should call it the Digital World seeing that it won't make any sense to her anyway. "The DigiWorld!" The DemiMeramon then shouted from behind the man. "Hmm... Yeah, DigiWorld." He didn't want to confuse the poor girl more than needed. From what he could see, it was certainly her first time here. Well, to be fair, it is a good place to land in this world. It was a safe place compared to the rest of that digital world. Desmond went to scratch the back of his head before pointing to the bench on the side. "Would you like to sit down?" He then asked. "Might be safer than standing next to the yellow line."
He would then wait for her to move before walking to the bench and sit down. "You can ask any questions you have. I might not have all the answers but I can promise you that you are safe in here." By here, he meant the terminal. And then he paused to smile. "I'm Desmond, Desmond Edmund." His partner told her his name earlier but he felt that he should present himself. It is always a good way to start a conversation. "I do have a question myself though..." And he paused for a second. "How did you get here?"
While he was speaking, the DemiMeramon came closer. "Psssh." And he began poking the Frenchman's leg. "Not now, DemiMeramon." He said without looking at him. But that didn't stop him from poking. After two seconds or so, Desmond would look at his partner not very impressed. "Ask her if I can hug her." He quietly said with puppy eyes.

"It is nice to meet you, Sam." Desmond wasn't sure if he should shake hands, maybe he should wait before touching her, that might be for the best for now. Instead, he just looked at her when she took out her Digivice. Well, it seems that everyone who came into this world has one. They seemed different in colors though. He took out his and showed to her. "I got one too. And yeah, it did appear from my computer screen as well." He then stayed silent and nodded at her when she told him that it led her to that train like Digimon. So there is a way out and in. Taking a mental note of it, the blond tamer saw her thank him and stand up. The blond tamer also stood up and was about to say something but his little partner went ahead and tried to hug one of her legs. "DemiMeramon!" He shouted at him with a fatherly tone. He wasn't mad at him, he also wanted to ask her to stay for a bit longer but the Digimon was faster.
The DemiMeramon held on her leg so that she wouldn't be able to run away. Sam might feel a gentle warmth and not a burning sensation she might have thought from having a fireball touching her. "Desmond! You scared her!" He screamed at his tamer. The Frenchman sighed and made his way toward the two and crouched down to pet his partner. "It's okay, you can let her go." He said. The Digimon looked at her and then at Desmond. "Are you sure?" He timidly asked. The blond tamer nodded and stood up. "Sorry, he's a bit clingy." He apologized to her. "But, you might not want to go away on your own." He made his voice as clear as possible. "I did say that it's safe here." And he paused before speaking. "But outside? Not all, Digimon..." And he then realized that he never explained what a Digimon was. "Erm... I might need to tell you something."
"DemiMeramon is a Digimon. There's a lot of them, not all like him. There's dinosaurs, machines, animals, plants... All kind of stuff and some of them will want to make a meal out of you." Again, a clear voice to let her know that he was serious. "I'm not saying that everything is out to get you but yeah... They are not all as friendly as DemiMeramon." He wasn't sure what to tell her honestly. He didn't want her to think that it's like hell outside but he knew that needed to tell her that it isn't heaven neither.
"So yeah, I wouldn't go outside by your own." Meanwhile, the little fireball was still holding on her leg. "Especially if you don't have a partner." And he pointed to the DemiMeramon. "Who can release your leg anytime now." The Digimon shook his head but didn't say anything making Desmond sigh. "Sorry, he must be worried that you are going to run away." And to that, he nodded quickly. The blond tamer sighed once more and made his way to face the girl. "You might want to tell him that you are not running away on your own." He then said while pointing to her leg. "He won't let go unless you tell him so."
"Just let us stay with you for a while? He just wants to make sure that you are going to be safe."

The DemiMeramon was now nuzzling Sam's leg but didn't let go even when Desmond told him to do so. The Digimon likes to hug people but he was pretty worried that the girl would run away. So he just kept on holding and closed his eyes. "DemiMeramon." He said his name once more but his partner did not answer. "DemiMeramon." He repeated but this time more firmly. "Let her go." Again no reaction but more nuzzling. The blond tamer waited a few more second before sighing and crouching down and put a hand on his partner's head. "It's okay. She won't go anywhere, you can let go now." He softly said instead of screaming at him. "She won't go?" He asked timidly to both of them. Desmond smiled and pat his little head. "No, she won't." And he moved his head to look at Sam's face. "Right?" He knew that if she would be the one saying it, the DemiMeramon would let go.
The Frenchman then stood up and readjusted his glasses. "Of course he's worried. We both are." He then said while smiling. "We wouldn't let anyone go without making sure they will be alright." To that, the Digimon nodded and released her leg from his hug. He still had a face full of worry when his tamer was speaking. He looked at her, then to Desmond and back and forth. "I am surprised that you don't have a partner, to be honest." He began looking around them for a quick second. From what he learned, everyone that had a Digivice also had a partner, or two, with them. "Maybe your Digivice can help you with that? Seeing that it lead you to this world." He took out his again to show her the buttons on it. "I am still not sure how to use all of its functions properly but it's a pretty useful device to have around."
"I can be your partner!" The DemiMeramon then shouted out loud while frantically waving his tiny arms in the air. Desmond laughed, he knew that it didn't work that way but it was nice of him to say that. The blond tamer looked at his partner that seemed very happy now. "Sure, why not?" And he shrugged before winking at Sam. "DemiMeramon is going to be your partner until you get one of your own." The Digimon began spinning on himself while stilling waving his arms. "Yay!" It was funny to see him go from worried to happy in a heartbeat much like a little child. The human laughed once more and hid his Digivice back into his pockets. "If Sam doesn't mind of course."
"Please?" The Digimon inched closer to her once more and looked at her with puppy eyes. "Can I be your partner?" He really wanted her to say yes and it was very easy to see that. Both Desmond and DemiMeramon would wait for her to either say yes or not. "But, if he becomes your partner, that means that you are stuck with us." The blond tamer quickly said with a smile. He was hoping that she would feel a bit safer now. He felt that she was still very lost in all this and to be fair if he was in her position, he would have been pretty lost and confused and very worried as well. "So what do you think?"
"Partners?"

The DemiMeramon was all smile when Sam started patting his head. "Yay!" And he went for another hug before she could stand up. "I have two tamers now!" He shouted in joy making Desmond laugh. The blond tamer waited for Sam to get back on her feet before looking at her Digivice. Being taller than her, he went behind her to look above her shoulder at the device. He stood silent for a second while his partner began spinning on himself again. He wasn't sure what the beeping was exactly. It was a strange device. "Hmm..." He then took out his own Digivice but the screen was still dark. He took another quick look at Sam's and touched the screen with his index finger. Nothing. He then looked at the direction the small dot or more or less what he thought it was from their position. There was a wall there meaning that it might be outside the terminal.
"I guess we could follow it?" He wasn't sure what could that lead to but it could well be her real partner waiting for her. They had to take this chance. "Yeah, let's try following it. I think we need to go out though." He double checked if the blue dot was on that side of the wall. Just to make sure, Desmond made his way to the wall and touched it. It is a wall. He knocked on it a few times. It was still a wall. He then slowly turned around and saw the DemiMeramon looking at him with a confused expression. "Desmond? What are you doing?" He asked with curiosity. The Frenchman did not answer right away as he realized that he might have looked a bit stupid knocking on a wall. "Erm..." He couldn't find a good excuse for it. "Nothing, I thought... You know, don't mind it." His partner was still confused. "But..." Desmond shook his head. "Let's get outside."
Making his way back to Sam and DemiMeramon, Desmond picked his partner into his arms and pointed to the entrance of the Terminus. "Alright, ready?" He asked her. And with a smile, he began making his way out. As they got closer to the entrance, they could see that it was rainy and foggy. Two things that the fireball didn't really like. Well, he didn't mind the fog that much compared to the rain. He made himself as little he could. "Desmond? Can I have your jacket?" He asked timidly. His tamer nodded and put the Digimon on the ground. The fog was quite thick, it was almost covering the DemiMeramon completely. Desmond removed his jacket and placed it on his partner before picking once more. A smile drew on the Digimon face as he was now hiding underneath the jacket.
To be honest, Desmond isn't very good at directions. And with this weather, he didn't really want to stay outside for longer than needed. But he didn't want to rush Sam either. Maybe they should go slow. That way, maybe Sam would feel less alienated by this strange world. He stood still and looked at her. "Are you alright?" He asked her with a soft tone to make sure. "Not the best weather." He said to her. Staying silent for a bit longer, he then looked around, there didn't seem to have anyone else near them. It seemed that people didn't go out in such weather. "So where do we go?" He then asked as he turned to look at her with a smile. "You can lead the way if you want."

Desmond had the stupid idea of looking up as the rain came down on his glasses. He felt the drops of water falling on his face and while it was somewhat cold, it was also somewhat refreshing. Unfortunately, his vision wasn't the best now. He tried to wipe them with his sleeve but it didn't really work. He sighed from behind Sam, seeing that following by only a foot or two. He saw that she didn't seem very comfortable leading but he didn't want to impose himself and take her Digivice and point where to go. That could be seen as a pretty rude gesture. So he just followed her at her pace and would look around him. The fog was getting thicker, or it seemed that way. It might just be him though. Good thing that he was holding his partner in his arms, otherwise, the poor thing might well be lost in that fog.
And then the breeze hit his face too. The wetness of his skin made the breeze much harsher making him shiver for a second as well. He, however, did not hide it. But he was behind Sam anyway so unless she would have looked behind, she might not have seen it. The blond tamer would follow her for a bit longer while looking left and right for a sign of life. The sudden humming coming from the DemiMeramon made him jump a bit. Desmond was so focused at looking left and right that he completely forgot the presence of his partner. Looking down at his jacket that was covering the small Digimon, he could now hear more clearly the humming sound. The Frenchman began cradling the Digimon making it giggle. He was still bundled under his jacket, safe from the rain and quite happy about it.
It didn't take long for them to stop just underneath a tree. Desmond almost bumped into Sam when she stopped moving. His arms were barely an inch from touching her back. Looking left and right, all the tamer could see was a tree next to a wall which was a bit father. Maybe that was the wall he touched from inside the terminal. Just to make sure it was a real wall, Desmond slowly made his way and touched the wall. He would then knock on it a few times before stopping. He was there, facing the wall without saying anything, most likely while looking like a fool. "Desmond?" The DemiMeramon peeked out of the jacket upon hearing his tamer knocking on a wall. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Hmmm..." He didn't answer. Instead, he turned around to face Sam. "I don't see anything..." He said as he made his way back to her. "Are you sure it's here?" He then asked Sam to make sure.
And then he stepped on a twig and heard a cracking noise. He looked down at his foot saw a broken twig in a small puddle of water. He looked at it for a second before slowly moving his head to look at Sam once more. "It must be around here... I think?" All he could see was the tree and the girl. He looked back down for a second. "Maybe it's underneath us?" He began tapping the ground with his left foot for a second. Nothing. It was clear that Desmond would be a terrible detective. "I'm not sure what to do next..." He then said a bit defeated. It would take him a few more second of randomly tapping the ground around the tree before slowly moving his head to look up. He squinted his eyes for a second but couldn't see anything right away.
"Erm..."

Desmond didn't have the time to react when the pink Digimon leaped off the tree and straight to his head. He let go of the DemiMeramon and felt the ball of feather starting to peck his hair away. The fireball stopped few inched above the ground seeing that he is always floating a bit above the ground. The little Digimon was still under the jacket and now had a hard time trying to get out of it. Meanwhile, the blond tamer closed his eyes instinctively to protect them and started flailing his arms around trying to get the Poromon off of his hair. For something that small, it had a pretty good grip. Desmond began shaking his head left and right vigorously making his glasses fly away and land on the wet ground a few feet away. Even with that shaking, the small pink ball of feathers was still pecking his hair. It wasn't that it was hurtful more that it was annoying. "Get off! Get off!" He shouted making quite a funny scene.
The DemiMeramon finally managed to get out of the jacket, that was now partially damp and looked at his now screaming tamer. He wanted to help but Desmond was too tall, he had absolutely no chance of reaching the Poromon. So he just went to get his tamer's glasses and then hide behind Sam just to poke her leg. "What do we do?" He asked timidly while seeing his tamer with both arms into the air. It would take him a few more seconds before being able to grab the pink Digimon. He tried to pull it but the Poromon was tightly holding on his hair with his tiny beak. After a second of shaking it, he finally managed to get him off and threw it on the ground.
Desmond began holding his hair to make sure that they were still there before realizing that he didn't have his glasses on him anymore. He blinked a few times and tried to look around him. His partner was still hiding behind Sam's legs while holding Desmond's glasses in his tiny arms. He did not realize that he was looking for them. Desmond had to squint trying to find the pink Digimon and could only see a blurred ball of pink feathers. He then heard Sam telling them to stop, not very loud but louder than her usual tone. The tamer looked at her direction and the fireball made his way to his tamer. He would poke his leg and wave his glasses for him to notice.
The Frenchman very slowly crouched down while keeping an eye on the other Digimon. Or at his general direction. He took his glasses, took a quick look if they were damaged. Fortunately, it was still pretty much intact from what he could see. He quickly put them on and waited for something to happen. Desmond was ready to fight, his partner wasn't so sure of it. He didn't like the rain falling on him or the thick fog around him. So he just clung on the human's leg and also waited for something to happen. After not moving for a second, Desmond and the fireball began circling around the Poromon to get next to Sam just in case that the pink Digimon would try to attack her.
