As Junjo cowered behind Asher he found himself mortified at the sight. Of all things in the world it had to be a frog?! Wh?! He could hardly fathom the idea of a giant frog creature trying to grab him and pull him under.
Whisker's gun seemed to stun it temporarily but it just hopped back up and kept at its disgusting assault. "Agggh! Why does it want ME?!"
He complained as it seemed rather content on the teal haired spirit user more than the others. "Ew, ew, oh God, oh GOD!" He hated frogs. They scared him more than anything else.
As he was pulled a long he saw the look in its orange eyes and the way that its tongue rolled over disgusting lips, if one could call them that.
"Waaaah! Asher I don't wanna be frog dinner!"

Why did it seem to want Junjo so much? The frog almost seemed like it could sense the panic from the teal haired man! "Run! Don't stare!" Whiskers huffed, trying to get Junjo to snap out of the concern. She was concerned, too! There was no protecting people from something that barely budged when she shot at it!
"You're not afraid of frogs, are you?" Not the type to shame someone for their fears, Asher really needed to clarify this! It seemed like such an odd fear! Maybe it was just because it was such a startling event, with the monster surfacing from such an unsuspecting place! That had to be it, right?
Asher knew he wasn't going to look behind him. He didn't want to see if anything else came alongside that thing, and needed to focus on the pings of the digivice! Judging from how loud it was getting, it had to be close!
And he wouldn't see the swarm of mini Frogmons that were slowly surfacing and following their oversized 'leader.'
"Delicious," a disembodied voice hummed into Junjo's head. It would seem that neither Whiskers nor Asher could hear it! Or, if they did, they certainly weren't acting like it! Was... that the frog? Was it talking to Junjo in his mind?
That couldn't be good.
Luckily, Asher would continue dragging Junjo unless the teal-haired spirit wielder showed resistance! And, with that sort of perseverance, they would find themselves in the center of the thick-fog, with only the many eyes of their pursuers reflecting from unknown light sources. As time would progress, the largest would grow visible again through the haze. It was coming.
By now, the digivice was essentially screaming in their ears, trying to notify the two that they were there. But, all 'there was, was a large tree, old and scarred from years of abuse and violence. "But, where?" Asher mumbled, still holding onto Junjo to keep him from getting lost. "It says it's here, but I don't see any--"
There it was. A hole in the lower part of the trunk, with bark creating a lattice-like shield across it. Within? There was an obvious glow of not one, but two totems. It seemed to swirl in a pattern that matched how it warped across Sprixiemon's arm. Was it one and the same?
Asher didn't think about it at first, trying to slam a mud-covered shoe into it to break away the branches. But, it persisted without even giving the slightest flex.
"Junjun, I need some help. You have any ideas?"
After all, a Wood spirit should know something about getting trees to listen or something, right? Maybe, all he'd need to do was grab it!
Maybe, something else still wanted to grab him. The Frogmon was almost clear as day now. They would need to act fast.

Junjo felt his heart thumping in his chest as he was pulled away from the giant creature, at least by frog standards.
He heard it. What he assumed was its voice, piercing into his mind. Why was he always hearing things?! And worse it said something so horrible and revolting! "Ahh! It's going to eat me!"
He wasn't thinking clearly, despite being with Asher and being dragged along into the fog, he didn't feel safe. This was his worst fear.
"Please, please don't let it eat me!" If Asher hadn't figured it out yet, the answer to his question about Junjo being afraid of frogs, well, the answer was a big, fat, yes.
He wasn't listening, shaking his head as he fell to his knees. "No, no, no--!" He muttered to himself, overcome with fear.

Oh no. Junjo was really going to do something like this right now? "This is a bad time fur a meowltdown, Junjo!" A huff came from the catgirl, with her sights still aimed through the fog. Was there any point in shooting? She knew it was useless.
She couldn't protect anyone, could she?
While Asher tried to kick in the latticework, it was becoming clear that he was getting frustrated. His spirit was in there, too! Why wouldn't it let him in? Could he burn it down? Or, did he really need the other spirit user's participation to get his prize?
"Jesu--" The redhead cut himself off, exhaling sharply. Don't get mad about people's fears. He had his own fears that he didn't like people to taunt. Frogs weren't scary, and neither were tiny spaces. But some people just found them absolutely terrifying. "Fine. Kill the frogs, then get the totems. Easy," he murmured, tapping his finger on his digivice. The best option was probably to go with the strongest he had, to get this frog out of the way!
Except...
Fractal code wrapped around his hand, warping, and then emitted a high pitched screech. A sharp pain shot up his arm, making the teen let out a hiss, and almost drop his digivice. "What the-?" It hurt. Why did it hurt?
H̶̨̛̜̹̱̮̪̦̰̤̙̿̄̍̆͗͘̚͘ë̵̢̺̥͉͔̗̪̬̙́̆͊̓'̵͔̙̙͚͇͑̔ś̵̖̱̪̝ ̷̠͓̖̖͙̥̯͖̥̣̇̍͌͑̅̀͌̈́̕M̴̢̛̠̫̭̎̂͌̾̍͗̈́͘͠i̴̩͚͎̓̕n̸̡̳͓̱͎̩͒̈́́e̴̢̻̿̌̽͋
A staticy voice echoed through the swamp. For a moment, it held the familiarity that Antylamon's voice did, and the vagueness of when he didn't know her. Except, it was someone else. And, the voice wasn't only in his mind. It was clear, from Whisker's expression, that the 'voice' was audible for anyone!
Fractal code flared around Asher's hand again. Had the voice been triggered by the coding? Or, had the coding triggered the voice? It felt like they were tied, somehow.
Ḩ̵͓̞̪͐́͊̿̐̽̈́̉͘͝ę̶̘̣̹̟̰͙͇̫̓̅̊̐̃̎̌͐͘͝'̸̡͔̣̯̬͉͙͎̈́̇̈́͛̕͝s̶̞̥̭̏͌͊ ̷̩͍̄͂́̀̄̊͒m̴̖̹͖̗̿̍̂͛͂̽̎̈́i̵̡̻͒̑͐̈́̆͊̊̿́͘ͅń̶̢̜͖͚͎̼͓̦̑̈́e̶̩̦̹̱̰̬͖̩̐̒̔̍̿̇̓̌͘͠ ̸̞͙͍͈̊́́̾̂̆́̎̉͗ţ̴̞͓̥̫̪̃̎̿́͘ͅǒ̶̪̙̪̼͍̠̤̋̕ ̵̞̦̤̭͙̦̜̭̫̔̽͒̂̀̇̔̆̐͝p̴͉̀͛͂̄̈͝r̷͉͖̫͕̕o̵̻̘̥͌̈́͐̒̀̓̔͝ẗ̶̤̙͔̞̬̻͉́̔̐̾̆̈́͝ȅ̶̡̞͙̞̞͕̭͛̆̅́͜͝c̵̜͙̹̫̥̲̝̺̣̪͗̍̀͑́̾̅̐t̵̲͉͔̑̑̀̈́̌̈́̈͘ͅ.̵̡͔̣͈̬͖̤̜̈́͂͋͝͠
Why did everything have to talk in nonsense garbles?
Asher gave an exhale, feeling the coding wrap upwards, soon cloaking his entire figure. And, as each piece of code crumpled to the ground, his Champion form would take his place. The Kinkakumon tested its hold on the spiked bat that it carried. And, without a word, the Champion-level lept at the Frogmon, swinging its bat downward. Except, Frogmon flickered much like the fog that it was in. Was it fake?
No. It couldn't be. The disgusting monster's eyes shifted to meet Asher's, seeming to grin. A hand reached out, to grip onto Asher's arm, seeming to plan to restrain him. And, unlike Asher's hit which had phased through, it was clear as day that this monster was solidly built. "Appetizer, then."
Meanwhile, Whiskers adjusted the positioning of her gun. Now, it was aimed at Junjo. "Snap out of it!" She hissed, finger wrapping around the trigger, "if Ashpurr dies because of mew, my contract is up, and I'll let that frog eat mew. Get the totems, or attack the frog! Just! Do something!"

Junjo could barely think straight, everything in his mind and vision was growing dark. He could still here he words it had uttered. Everything seemed bleek and dismal as Junjo tried to face the fact that he was gonna be a Jun-kabob!
Finally, though, as whiskers scolded him, he looked up to see, what he thought was Asher, getting man handled by that goopy thing. "N-no. . .Asher. . ." His eyes went wide. He couldn't let this happen, Asher couldn't get eaten! No way!
フㄩ几フㄖ . . . 丨 匚卂几 卄乇ㄥ卩 ㄚㄖㄩ, 乃ㄩㄒ ㄚㄖㄩ 卄卂ᐯ乇 ㄒㄖ 乃乇 乃尺卂ᐯ乇.
A voice broke through to him, calm and stoic. "Be. . .brave?. . ." He clenched his digivice in his hands and grinded his teeth together. "Right. Be brave!" He nodded his head and pushed himself up from the ground.
"H-hey! Ugly!" He held out his digivice and became wrapped in code. Sprixiemon standing in his place.
"Y-yeah, you! You want a piece of me!? Come on barf-bean!" The little digimon stuck out its tongue and made an awful face. He wasn't confident in his plan, but hopefully he'd serve as a distraction in the mean time.

It seemed that Junjo picked the best time to react! Before the frog could actually cause any damage to the oni Digimon, a certain spritely spirit had emerged! And, anyone with half a mind would know that frogs really liked things that could fly. In an instant, the frog released its grasp on Asher's arm, turning to face the 'newcomer' to the encounter.
"Ugly?" The oversized Frogmon's eyes rolled back into its head, only furthering its unpleasant features. Licking its mouth, the Digimon slowly moved a step toward its new target.
Which gave Asher enough time to think about what was going on. "We need the totems," he mumbled, mostly to himself. For a moment, the Champion-level eyed his mercenary, who had her weapon trained on the Frogmon, seemingly waiting for a good opportunity. And, establishing that this was his best chance to do anything productive outside of fighting, the teen quickly moved back to the ensnared totems.
While he couldn't do anything to the tree as a human, maybe a little extra strength from his current form could force its way through. Not having too much time to consider the best move to safely extract the totems, the spirit user did the exact opposite of being safe. Pulling back on the oni's bat, the weapon began to flicker brightly, before it came crashing into the trunk of the tree. Explosive Funeral. True to its name, the second it had impacted, a booming sound emitted from the latticework, flashing as if a tiny bomb had dropped. And then, the tree pulsed. Rather than completely crumbling down, the 'cage' of wood melted away, providing the opening necessary to pull the treasures from their hole!
Reaching in, fingers wrapped around a smaller fragment, as if instantly knowing which belonged to him. And, sure enough, it did. A small glow emitted from the totem, before a new Digimon began to visualize alongside the tree. In just a brief moment, a translucent Baalmon flickered to life, static coursing over the image akin to an old video recording. It looked to Asher, and upon making eye contact, the Digimon looked to the ground and then... kneeled.
Was this what a decent spirit was like? Or, was it just going to be another trap from the Nightmare line?
The question didn't even have time to make it from Asher's mouth, before the Baalmon had completely vanished. And, as he did, so did the Frogmon.
And the fog.
While the trees remained old or dying, the area had cleared out in a matter of seconds, sunlight threatening to seep into the area for the first time in at least decades. Likely? Longer. Turning to look at his 'partner' and the Sprixiemon that had overcome fears to keep him safe, Kinkakumon shifted back to its human form, and the redhead gave a small smile.
"What? Evfurrything's gone," the catty nun commented, hesitantly lowering her gun. She had just been staring at the Frogmon. Where did it go?
Turning his own totem in his hand, Asher stepped to the side to allow Junjo to take his own. And once he did? The trees would immediately begin showing signs of growth, buds and leaves suddenly pulling themselves into existence. "I feel like," the redhead paused, not wanting to sound too cheesy with the initial line that had come to mind, "none of that was real."
It was almost like a nightmare, growing across an entire area. Perhaps, feeding off the power of the wood-element totem to only further its influence. After all, the 'bad' things left when the totem was removed, and with the wood totem lifted afterward, the trees would become alive again.
Surely, that was too complex of a theory. It was probably something more logical.
Either way, the redhead would give his teal-haired friend a pat on the shoulder. "But, you were actually going to fight for me, even though you were scared. That takes some courage." Flashing a smile, Asher gave a gesture to follow him, so that they could begin their leave of this refreshed area. "I think you're going to be really good at this someday."

Approved.
The word count has been met, and the scenario is pretty much finished. Up to Junjo to decide if he wants to post an exit to the thread or not.
