WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM.
( tag: none ) The stomach held all truths. Boss knew this fact well along his life and it proved itself yet again when Chenjin tried lying about the apples filling him up. The white maned man rolled his eyes and smiled lightly. Try as he might, he couldn’t fool him. “Course they didn’t. I know a nice place not too far off here that sells a good sandwich.” Boss advised, glancing behind him to see Chenjin change into his holosuit.
He took the appearance of a teenage boy with bright red hair and black bangs wearing a blue sweater. Pretty par for the course, and a stark difference compared to the mountain of a man that Boss was currently dressed as. However, before they could start walking, Chenjin began to stumble a bit. The disguised dragon let out a sigh. He never tried walking in it? Boss quietly walked back towards Chenjin, extending a hand to him. “come on, can’t have you stumbling around unless you’re drunk, which still aint a good look.” Boss chuckled as he offered some support while they kept on walking out of the station.

"Sand... wich?" Chenjin asked curiously. He had never heard of this "sandwich" during his research on the Human World, but then again he never even looked at the cuisine category. He was excited to try a new food! He wondered what it looked like...
Now was not the time for questions, believe it or not, as Chenjin was stumbling around in his holosuit. He was not used to having long legs and it felt like he was walking on stilts all the time. He immediately took Boss' hand when he offered it to him, saying the stumbling made him look drunk.
"But I am not drunk... I would never ingest alcohol, ever. I have to learn how to walk in this thing..."
Finally, the big moment arrived. The two had left the train station and had entered the Shibuya district. Chenjin could not believe his eyes! So many tall buildings! So many lights! So many HUMANS! He simply just wanted to explore every bit of it, observe and learn as much as he could!
...but first, he better eat that sandwich.

WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM.
( tag: none ) “To be short about it, it’s a combination of meats and other foods all piled together. From the times I’ve been here, it can be heated in a lot of different ways and should be good enough for you.” Boss explained as they were leaving the train station. As they were walking out, Boss couldn’t help but notice the occasional stare or glance from the other pedestrians. He normally had looks on him anyways due to his sheer size and stature, but the fact he had a kid on him was a whole other thing entirely. Some were probably assuming that they were related, or something akin to that. Boss simply shrugged it off and continued until they arrived outside.
Chenjin’s eyes lit up as he expected. Shibuya wasn’t that fancy compared to the other parts of Japan, but something so vastly different was bound to have him interested. The bigger parts, he’d probably compare to Terminus but to a lower scale, but it was still a heck of a sight. “Welcome to the human world, kid.” Boss chuckled. Hopefully, they would continue walking for a few blocks, Boss leading the way until they arrived at a small corner store. This part of Shibuya had a bunch of stores and places to eat for people on the go or for those looking for a small snack. The corner store itself was just that; incredibly small, but the food here was always good and they had a few things like sausages rolling, sandwiches wrapped in aluminum and labeled and rows upon rows of other things.
“Take yer pick.” Boss extended a hand towards everything. “Just don’t make yourself go broke.”

"Oooooh, a sandwich sounds delicious!" Chenjin says. The Human World must've been filled with all KINDS of delicacies you couldn't find in the Digital World! Chenjin didn't notice all the people looking at him and Boss; he was too busy observing all the humans!
And he could not believe how big and bright these buildings were! Chenjin saw some of the buildings show off things, like something called "Coca-Cola," whatever that was. He didn't know why names of random things like that were plastered everywhere, but that made him want to find out even more. He just loved to learn!
Chenjin followed Boss into a pretty small store, filled to the brim with yummy foods and snacks to buy. Chenjin was in awe by how much food there was to buy. Boss told him to pick out what he wanted, and so Chenjin did just that. He grabbed two sandwiches, a big bag of gummy candy, and one of those Coca-Cola things he saw being advertised earlier.
It was a strange, brown color... would it taste good?

WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM. ( tag: none ) Once they stepped into the small corner store, the clerk greeted them with a small, polite bow. Boss returned it with a wave as he and Chenjin began to explore the store for something to quickly eat and move on with their day since the kid had a big one ahead of him. The concept of a sandwich seemed good enough for him that he was completely gung-ho for it and the various snacks around on the shelves. Boss wandered off by himself for a moment towards the back of the store and eventually came back to the stand with a few cans of beer and some sandwiches he'd asked to grab while he was in the back.
When he returned to the front, he saw Chenjin with a few aluminum wrapped meals for himself, a bag of candy and a soda. Boss couldn't help but raise a brow, but he eventually decided not to bring anything up. Who was he to say what he could and couldn't eat? Wasn't like he was his dad or something, plus he'd probably like the sugar high. "Not a bad first choice. I'm not big on too much sweets here, hah." The white maned man said, patting his chiseled stomach under his tank top. Shortly after, Boss finished off his payment, fetching out a few small bills to the clerk who asked if he was also paying for his grandson.
Boss gave him a look that probably would have set him off at such an accusation, but he simply turned to Chenjin and gave him a a look that said 'go along with this'. "No, he wants to pay for himself. Isn't that right?" Boss said tersely, eye twitching a bit. Going along with this was a dumb idea. Better than having something happen if he admitted to just being some random dude guiding a kid around.

"I've never tried anything here before," Chenjin admitted to Boss, "so I really do not know what to expect. The closest thing here to something in the Human World is 'Nume-Cola.' Would you like some of this candy? It looks really good."
All seemed well and good, with Boss paying for his individual items (Chenjin noticed that he had a couple beer cans with him. He hoped Boss knew what he was doing,) and was caught completely off guard when the clerk asked Boss if he wanted to pay for his "grandson's" items as well.
Chenjin tried hard to not show his surprise. It seemed like Boss was going along with it, and Chenjin trusted Boss. "Er... yeah, I do!" Chenjin handed the clerk his own payment and walked out of the store with Boss, going to immediately sit at a table. If Boss were to join him, he'd begin to talk some more.
"Was it really a good idea to go along with that? I was just as surprised as you were..."

WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM.
( tag: none ) Much to his luck, Chenjin seemed to pick up what Boss was throwing down in the face of the human clerk. Before paying, he asked if the stuff he was buying tasted any good, and the man could only nod. “Yeah, I’ve had a few myself, just not too much of a sweets fan.” He reminded him. He silently watched the disguised Digimon pay for his product, Boss following suit once they grabbed their stuff into a white plastic bag and left the store to find a place to sit. This part of Shibuya had a lot of tables around for people to relax while waiting about, and the two of them found a small table with two seats for them to relax.
Boss slumped down into his seat, quickly finding one of his chicken sandwiches and taking a bit as he watched Chenjin sit down in front of him with a concerned look. “Yes, it was.” He said while taking a few bites into his meal. “Humans have weird notions when it comes to what looks like an old coot like me and a kid like you hanging out, and I’m not in the mood to get in trouble.” he explained, taking another bite before obliterating the rest of his sandwich and moving onto the next one. “Besides, doubt we’ll see them again, so no harm. If anything, I’m only mildly embarrassed. Not really one to have kids and gods know we barely look alike.” Boss chuckled, rolling his eyes.

After paying for his little meal, Chenjin and Boss immediately sat down at a nearby table. There, Boss explained to the kid that humans had suspicions about people young-looking like Chenjin and old-looking like Boss hanging out, unless they were related.
Chenjin didn't understand it, though. "Why should something like that matter? So one human is older than the human they're hanging out with, and suddenly that's wrong? That doesn't make sense..."
Chenjin then looked at his own meal. He unwrapped one of the aluminum-wrapped sandwiches, which had turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on it... not that Chenjin knew what any of these things were. Regardless, he took a bite anyways. He then immediately chowed down the rest of the sandwich. "Wow! That's good! I'm glad I bought two of these!" The disguised Digimon then did the same thing to the second sandwich.
Now came the sweets part of the meal. Chenjin was real curious about the drink, so he opened it up and took a sip. He then immediately had a look of sheer pain, but it quickly faded. He began to cough a bit. "Ack! This drink burned my throat..."

WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM.
( tag: none ) “Like I said, humans are incredibly judgmental,” Boss remarked, taking another bite out of his sandwich and sighing with a roll of his eyes. In his time in the human world, Boss had seen several good things and bad. Thing that would probably make some lose their faith, but he wasn’t about to tell this kid that right off the bat. He seemed smart enough to hopefully figure his way around this place mentally. If he didn’t, he was gonna have a tough time. When he asked further, Boss simply shrugged.
“Lotta things don’t make sense or don’t have a real solid answer, kid. Like I said, best to just watch yourself and not be stupid than accidentally rock things too much and get exposed.” Boss grumbled. “I aint saying the Digital World aint perfect, but this place has it’s shares of bad along with the good. Like the food for example.” He said, lobbing the last bit of his meal into his mouth, watching Chenjin start drinking his cola. Immediately he started coughing and his face contorted into a look of paint. Boss couldn’t help but laugh right on the spot at him.
“It’s incredibly fizzy, probably should have warned you. Tastes good going down but if you’ve never had it, it packs a bit.” Boss managed to finish after chuckling a little bit more at the kid’s slight misfortune.

"Hey Boss? Do you have any human friends?" Chenjin asked, finishing the rest of his sandwich. "You spent a lot of time here in the Human World you said, right? So have you ever befriended a human? What are they like if you did?"
Boss did make a good point, however. Right now, humans were essentially scared of Digimon; now wasn't exactly the time to reveal who they are. The humans had to be eased into it first, that was all. Chenjin could probably figure out a way to do that at some point!
WOW, that Coca-Cola was really fizzy! It really caught Chenjin off guard, and it didn't help that Boss was laughing at his misfortune. "You coulda warned me beforehand!" He puffed. He took another sip, knowing what to expect this time. Turns out that the drink was still pretty good, despite the fact that it sorta burned to drink it.
"So, uh... do you know the way to the school at all?"

WHO'S THE BOSS?
I AM.
( tag: none ) Once they began to wrap up their sitting time, Chenjin proposed a question to Boss that he hadn’t heard in…quite a long while. He asked if he had any human friends and what they were like if he did. He didn’t necessarily know how to answer that that wasn’t an outright no. He knew some humans and they recognized him whenever he went bar hopping or wandering around the city, but he wouldn’t have constituted them as friends. He did visit the human world often, but it was more of as a tourist than planning to be a resident, thus making ties here. Ultimately, he just shrugged.
“Not really. Wouldn’t consider the bartender that knows me or the humans that flirt with me as friends. Some of em are nice, but I wouldn’t hang out with them, if that’s what you mean. Rather keep around my own kind and enjoy what’s here since I don’t stay for terribly often. Most I do is get some food and drink to take back home.” He answered. Boss ignored the snap back about the drink and scowled for a moment. He guessed that the little guy was trying to probe him about the world and maybe go into some tirade about not judging humans too much since he was just trying to be nice the entire way. Admirable, but not really his style.
“…Fine, come on. What’s the name of the school? There’s a lot here, so you’re gonna have to be a lot more specific.” Boss grumbled, scratching at his white beard some. “Probably might wanna invest in a map or something too.”

"Do you... do you ever wish you had human friends? Because I've been wishing that my whole life. Does that make me weird?" Indeed, Chenjin had wished that he had human friends his whole life. He always felt like he was different from the other Digimon, as he just was not interested in what the Digital World had to offer...
Anyways, now was the time to actually find out where the school was! Chenjin hopped off of his chair and threw away his trash, following Boss down to the school. All in all, today was the best first day in the human world anyone could ever have.
