It was quite funny when all one could do in a situation was to desperately cling to the back of someone you had only known for about a week tops and scream until you had lost your lungs. That was, however, the exact situation that Hitomi had found herself in, clinging to the back of Cybercursedramon's body and scream as loud as she could while the Digital World's vortex swirled around them. She caught herself praying not to fall off the Warrior of Steel into whatever horrible abyss awaited in the area between worlds.
It was over as fast as it started, and soon enough instead of dizzying whirlpools of colour, Hitomi was soon met with a rolling blue sky with large clouds, and a huge expanse of forest. In the distance, she could see a small plain which was where she guessed they were heading. "Oh, Woah." She gaped, she had no clue what to expect, but this was breathtaking. So this was what a landscape largely untouched by human hands looked like. It felt so wild.
"So this is the Digital World?" She guessed, looking around. "I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but I like it."
This was where she had been called to right? By that run-down Digivice they had found in the river last week. Speaking of that device, she had brought it with her and gave it a thorough scrubbing and clean as much as she dared to with all those broken wires. She didn't electrocute herself, so that meant she had probably done a good job. Most of the functions she had found didn't work, of course, nevermind that, its purpose in the first place had completely eluded her. Who or whatever had created the device certainly liked to work in mysterious ways. Hopefully, this thing would be repaired sometime soon. Before curiosity did indeed kill the cat...or human. However that saying was supposed to work.
In the meantime, she resolved not to voice her irks about how exactly they were launched into the Digital World sky until they had already landed and her carrier had transformed back into her human form again. Because oh boy, did she have some words.

Alicia sighed softly as the poor girl on her back screamed her head off. Maybe she should’ve given her some kind of warning...? She didn’t remember at the moment if she did or not. Oh well, it was bound to happen anyways, and most mons seem to become flight capable at some point in their evolutionary line. So she was just preparing Hitomi for the chaos that was flying early! Yeah, she’ll go with that.
“Yup, you’re in the Digital World proper now. Part of the reason I like flying when I enter is the view I get when I come through the portal. There’s also practical reasons, but that’s for another time.” Alicia answered back, her voice natural rough and deep from her current form even if it was still unmistakably her. “I just wish I had a different form available. Then we’d be able to run through some real impressive moves...”
Turning her head, she regarded Hitomi with two of her four glowing eyes and a small smile from the ‘organic’ half of her snout. And that was probably something she suspected the artist would have a... difficult time wrapping her head around. Along with the freedom Mercurialdramon had offered, it was a far less overtly threatening form. Not to say it was toothless, but it kept it’s teeth hidden until Alicia had need of them. Cybercursedramon on the other hand was openly threatening in it’s mere appearance.
A tilt of her four wings sent her into a gentle downward spiral, letting her gently bleed off altitude until she was able to touch down in a lumbering trot of sorts, before coming to a stop and laying herself down so that Hitomi could get on to precious solid ground again. Once she was off, the dark dragon lifted herself back up and seemed to almost stretch out with a soft groan. “Ha... still need to get used to this form... traumatic as it may be...” Alicia muttered under her breath, then with a small act of will, she was cloaked in black miasma again. Once it cleared, her human form was once more standing there instead of the much larger dragon she had been just a short while ago.
“Right then, we’re not too much farther, so walking’s not going to be a problem.”

"It's unbelievable, it almost reminds me of my hometown, but even Hakone didn't have this feeling," Hitomi said with an awed expression, taking in the sights around them as they landed. It felt like the meeting of a sci-fi movie and a nature documentary. She could definitely see the things that would indicate it was forest but also not. What a strange blending together, but somehow it worked astoundingly well.
Well, now that they were on the ground she didn't have to worry about spewing her guts all over the floor, it felt much more stable. Hopefully, her partner wouldn't have any flying capabilities because she never wanted to experience that again. Although she had a feeling, that with her streak of luck? He'd probably be a flight specialist. She heard what her friend had said about the form she had taken being traumatic, but didn't feel like it was her place to find out what she meant by that. So she decided to wait until Alicia was ready to tell her herself.
So instead, she looked to the road ahead and blinked. "We're walking? It's fine by me." She then took out the broken down Digivice she had discovered last week and blinked in surprise. "Hey, it looks better than I remember." It had regained its real shape and repair standard, however, it was still grey and lifeless. Perhaps it needed a Digimon's bond to start functioning as it should.

“Then it sounds like your hometown is quite pretty itself.” Alicia commented off hand with a small smile as they started walking. She could understand the surprise and awe to be honest. The Digital World was a place of impossible wonder after all.
Of course, she also picked up on the subtle unconscious cues people make when they’re relieved and worried about something. Her spirits’ pointers in such matters had been helping tremendously. And with what had occurred she could easily guess what was going on in Hitomi’s mind. “I suppose it’s only fair to inform you. Off the top of my head I can only name like... five evolutionary lines that don’t involve a Digimon becoming flight capable somewhere in the line. All the dozens upon dozens of others gain some kind of flying capability in one form or another.”
Fair warning was fair at least. And then Sol chose that moment to appear. The Steel-armored dragon cast a glance at the other girl’s Digivice as he did. ”It’s good to see the device is indeed beginning self-repair at the moment. Hardy pieces of technology all around, a must for the kind of things their bearers can get into.”
“Hopefully it’ll be fully ready when we arrive. The Elecmon there is quite busy with all the little ones and unhatched eggs.” Alicia mused a bit off hand, shaking her head.

"...awwwww." Was the whine that escaped the young Tamer's mouth when she heard the news that it was most likely she was going to be getting a Digimon that could fly, or might even just exclusively fly. She was going to have to get used to high speeds at high altitudes after all then.
She was sure she could eventually adapt to that right? The artist really hoped that was something she could adapt to with relative ease. She was walking around in a world apparently built out of the internet with only a few questions after all!
...what did Sol mean by "things their bearers can get into"? "I'm sure I'll be fine." The female shook her head, before tilting it at the mention of this strange creature called Elecmon. "Elecmon? What's that, I'm guessing some kind of a Digimon?" Sounded like the poor guy was a bit overworked if he had to take care of practically all the baby Digimon on his own. Were they even sure her partner was going to be there? What if it already existed elsewhere in the Digital World?
Though maybe she shouldn't be second-guessing herself too much, it was a habit she was still trying to get a handle on.

Alicia allowed herself a melancholic smile at the whine. “It could be worse. I’d take a flying partner any day over some of the more... objectionable creatures running around.” She severely hoped she never met any kind of ‘sludge’ Digimon. The descriptions she got when she carelessly inquired left her sickened. “And no, you don’t want to know.” She finished before Hitomi could make the same mistake.
Sol took over for the question about their contact. ”Elecmon are Rookie-Level Digimon, and most are red and blue furred ‘rodents’ of notable size with a fan of feather-like fur extensions for a tail. As their species name suggests, they have access to electrical abilities. While I’m at it, I should explain what I mean about levels.
Outside of external influence, a Digimon’s life cycle is divided into several stages and they can choose to naturally grow into the next stage with a long enough life and enough energy. They begin hatching at, fittingly enough, the Fresh level, and quickly progress to In-Training. From there follows the mentioned Rookie stage, which is the level most Digimon are at rest at. They can then evolve further to Champion, Ultimate, and Mega stages, each one more powerful and complex then the last. A rare few even attain enough experience and power to transcend into the Super Mega stage, but that is quite a ways away. The power gaps between each stage are immense, though, so avoiding combat with a Digimon of a higher level then your partner is advisable, albeit not always possible.
A tamer, notably, can cause a surge of power to flow through their partner when conditions are right, allowing access to a further stage earlier then normally possible, but do be aware that careless use can cause exhaustion or worse. Digimon are hardy but even they have limits.”
Then he sighed to himself. He hoped he didn’t have to impress upon Hitomi that jumping into a Digimon fight personally was a generally bad idea. Only Spirit Wielders and maybe Xros Generals could get away with those shenanigans. ”I’ll be happy to answer any further questions to the best of my ability. Though do forgive me if I get to rambling, please.”
“Might want to make any further questions snappy. We’re going to arrive fairly soon.” Alicia noted off hand, shrugging. Already the sound of youngling Digimon laughing, playing, and just being children in general would start to reach their ears. “Then again, we’re on your time table here Hitomi; so I suppose questions can take priority.”
The red headed spirit user clutches her bandaged arm tightly at that, looking away from all of them. She had finished with such a depressed and quiet voice that her last line might even be missed if one wasn’t paying attention.
”Alicia... I’ll say it as many times as I have to. It’s not your fault.” Kisara whispered to Alicia privately, and the red head sighed softly at the phantom embrace the ice maiden gave her.
