I Want To Wake Up (Coolmon)

It's been almost a week now since Jiro had perished at the hands of his own father. Otohime was not in despair, or grieving as her teacher Keiji had feared, but her despondent apathy was almost as worrisome. The girl had spent more and more time just roaming. Masaki had suggested he spy on her, but the old man did not want to compromise the privacy of his child. Right now, otohime was in the legendary Shibuki Forest. Night was falling, as she leaned against a tree, her hands still clutching her Digivice. It had not vanished yet, but the screen was dark, and had a crack in it. She stared down at it. At night, her teach had said, the spirits of the dead arise in this forest. ...perhaps Jiro would arise, too.

A forest is a rather bad place to be in, alone. Much worse if you were expecting company. For Coolmon, though, she really just wanted to find her lunch. Wherever it was.
Or find something cool. One of the two. The Cutemon felt like something was to be found here...Though, the fact it was beginning to be nighttime made things more than a little creepy. Just to be safe, once she was surely in the forest, Coolmon digivolved into Lekismon. Nighttime was most assuredly her--Selene's time.
As the lapine hopped from tree to tree, she noticed an odd sight. A lone human staring at a digivice...Had she lost her partner somewhere?
The red-eyed rabbit remained perched on a branch, before giving the trunk of the tree she was on a tap. "Hey. You!" She whispered.

Otohime had been wholly sunken in thought when someone talked to her. She cringed, and instinctively pulled out her bat to defend herself. When she turned to the sound, she just saw...a bunny? The hell was a bunny doing here? Especially one that was so clearly a -Digimon-? Regardless, she lowered her bat, and turned away. "Who the hell are you? It's kinda dangerous for a Digimon to just be walkin' around willy nilly. There's people out there who get real mad about that." Her voice was abrasive, but quite empty of emotion. And her eyes went right back to the Digivice in her hands.

"Some call me Coolmon." The Lekismon spoke, simply. "I may be walking around undisguised, sure, but...It's also nightfall. And my species is traditionally nocturnal. I shouldn't be angering anyone...What about you? Why are you alone in the woods at nightfall, miss?"
Noting the lack of emotion in Otohime's voice, the Lekismon leapt down and gave her a once-over with big, concerned red eyes. "Are you well? Did something happen? Um...Where's your partner?" Coolmon stepped a little closer to Otohime and took a seat across from her.
She may not know much if any about what the girl had gone through but she would do her damndest to help her.

Ah, so the bunny's using the night to move around unnoticed. Well, as long as it works. And what she is doing here? "What I am doing? None of your fucking business." She then resumed staring at the sky, clutching her Digivice. "My partner...he ain't here. That's all." As she kept staring, a glistening trail ran down her eyes, reflecting the moonlight. While she was refusing to talk, her body did it all for her. The drooping shoulders, the subconscious clinging to the Digivice, the tears... ...something terrible must have happened to her and her partner, perhaps he was even dead...

"...I mean, I'm trying to help people so I imagine it's at least some business of mine..." The Lekismon said, trailing off a little before she continued staring at the girl. Was she...crying? Partner's not here?
Coolmon wasn't really the best at reading cues but this was painfully obvious to her. At least, it seemed that way. This girl's partner...had something bad happened to them. Or they died. That last one....That kind of hurt to think about, losing someone close to you. It'd be like losing Rinji or Amelie. Or Birdie.
Awful. The Lekismon moved to sit next to Otohime as her form glowed and dissipated to reveal...a sad-looking Cutemon. "...I'm really sorry to hear that. What...happened to him?" She sort of felt like she should try confirming first.

Otohime gave the Lekismon a sideways glance. Seems that this girl was not leaving her alone any time soon. Then she even sat down next to her and de-digivolved. Expressing sympathy, even. Heh, guess she's unused to anyone but her teach and Naoko caring about her. She looked down at her Digivice, and spoke without turning to Coolmon. "...he got killed. Murdered by his own dad. Fucking spiteful coward took him out with his last breath. And there was nothing I could to prevent it. It all happened so fast, I had no chance to react before it was too late..."

Murdered? By his own father? Coolmon gulped. "...That's...awful. That's...genuinely awful..." Sure, she didn't have any parents...at least she didn't think she did, but...Why would someone do that to their own flesh and data? "...What a crappy dad. I'd beat his ass if he somehow survived."
...Bravado. Bravado that only lasted a few seconds, unfortunately. "...I don't think blaming yourself's the best way to cope. Besides, all...Digimon come back, right? He wasn't loaded or anything was he?"
Oh god please let that be the case. She really hoped this girl didn't have to suffer being alone, especially in a world like the Digital World.

Otohime looked back down at her Digivice. This Digimon was trying really hard to cheer her up, she could appreciate that. Been ages since a stranger was nice to her. But... "...he never came back. He didn't leave behind an egg, and his father explicitly said he won't be reborn. That's why he killed him. To make sure nobody could use my partner anymore..." She fell silent again, then she looked back up. "...but I refuse to just give up on him. He's a fighter. He won't just let himself be erased from existence. Especially not by a scumbag like this father."

He wouldn't...What? Coolmon found herself giving Otohime a blank stare, yet if one were to look into her eyes you could likely see a pit of sadness forming. That was heinous. The rabbit wrapped her tiny arms around Otohime's arm for a hug. A brief one. The girl probably needed it more than anything. Though, Otohime's words did make the rabbit think for a few moments. Long, thoughtful and slow moments.
Never coming back...
Not being reborn...
Some digimon suffered that. Coolmon knew that much. But did they ever truly stop existing? No, not really. Spirit Wielders existed for a reason... "...Fighters don't ever really stop existing like that. As long as you remember him, he'll always exist." Maybe that's what makes the spirits that those few humans toted around important. Nascent. A thing. The fact that they'd be remembered to some capacity...?

Otohime listened to Coolmon's words. She stifled her breath when she got hugged, not expecting that from a stranger, but she did not push the rabbit away, either. Her words, however, seemed to be striking a chord within her. As long as he is not forgotten, he won't stop existing...? Did Digimon work like that? She had no idea...but it was a strengthening impulse to the last shred of hope she had kept. "Ya...ya really think I can still find 'im if I keep believin' hard enough...?" Of course, she had completely misunderstood. But this misunderstanding seemed to have briefly improved her spirits...

Coolmon felt like she had some kind of point here. As long as you remember someone that died, they're not really dead. That's how she saw it. "Yeah! As long as you believe, he won't be dead!" The Lekismon stated, a small smile gracing her face! "Just...hold on to the hope that maybe one day he'll come back. Despite everything."
By Homeostasis, this was so much bullshit but even if it helped JUST A LITTLE, it would be enough. "Um. My name's...Coolmon. Some call me Selene. But it's actually Coolmon, what's your name?"
She hadn't even given her name, that's by far the most uncool thing of all.

Coolmon's confirmation reignited Otohime's willpower. If another Digimon is so convinced that Jiro is still out there, then he -has- to be out there! She just has to find him! She was about to dash off to do just that when Coolmon introduced herself. She stopped, and scratched the back of her head. "Oh, uh, nice to meetcha, Cool Selene! I'm..." What name should she give her? Well, Coolmon did kinda help her a whole heaping lot right now... "...Otohime, buuuut ya can call me Ryuko cuz that's cooler!...an d Jiro always used that name, too." She looked back down at the Digivice, hoping for even the tiniest sign.

Cool Selene? That was...pretty odd. But it was a combination of what she just told Otohime. "...Actually, just Coolmon works." THAT was less stressful to remember or repeat, in her honest opinion. "Mmm...Ryuko...Like...uh. The girl in that anime with the scissor sword?"
She was pretty sure it was that one. "It's a pretty cool name. Your partner probably thought the same, too." The rabbit nodded. But...why did she look like she was ready to run off? That's what was bugging her, in truth.
Coolmon glanced at Otohime, more than a little concerned. "...So, Jiro, huh? Sounds like a good friend..." The rabbit was baaaad at this...

Otohime stopped. The bunny was still talking. It'd be rude to just run away while someone was talking. She remained antsy, and rubbed the back of her head. "Ehehehe, alright, Coolmon it is!" And now the bunny was talking about Jiro. Otohime looked down, sullenness returning to her face. "He was the best fuckin' buddy one could have. He was so smart, and friendly, and soft, and nice, and deep down he had such strength, such confidence. I wanted to help him harness that, but...then he died before I managed to. Fuck man, I failed him hardcore..." She wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
