So honestly what was holly supposed to do?
This was a big old library with tons of knowledge at it's disposal and while her Da's books were interesting she didn't understand them very well. She didn't know what to attribute them to or what some digimon were. So she'd have to take the time to learn these things; learn about digimon and that inevitably would lead into a spiral of reading that would just bring on piles of books.
She'd take a few dozen of them, read through them. Comprehension was difficult as she didn't have placement for a lot of the information she was reading through but that didn't much matter to her. It would come with time wouldn't it?
Books linked to other books, words explained other words. She found her friends in dictionaries, thesaurus' and other help it sorts of books. There were some books that were so dizzily difficult to understand she had to set them aside with a small post it note for her to come back later to. They wouldn't mind if she left it in the cover would they? It would help her in the future and might be helpful for people that read them down the line.
Right now she was pouring over this place called 'Terminus' and trying to learn about it's society; culture and relationship to humans as that seemed to be a huge selling point by the author of this book. Turning a page carefully and leaning to pick up another book that it referenced the meicrackmon had a lot on her plate but that didn't mean she wasn't approachable.
Heck it was probably rare to see someone like her down in a place not even a week or two ago she was calling 'scary' because of how many scents there were. Honestly she was more intrigued by the books than those extra scents that she didn't know.
It went to show it as it was starting to get really late; but she still didn't care. She had bundles of energy for this kind of stuff. She really wanted to know more and more about the digital world and if she couldn't travel safely the best way to do so would be from inside these hard bound covers.
"Trailmon stations are part of the large hub, there's aircraft and other sorts of transportation... do they not have a port? Is there no water by them? doesn't seem to list anything like that. How do they do major trades with whitewater? The more answers they give the more questions I have.. Meeeeiiii...."

For a cat that could see the future, Mae didn't expect to not have seen being told that this library was, while a great repository of knowledge, also a nearly infinite one. One that she didn't see herself reaching the end of anytime soon. At the very least, it gave her something to do all by her lonesome.
...At least, she had been keeping to herself. She had been ever since she got back from her excursion in the Labyrinth. Up until she devolved again. The Meicoomon had been occupying herself to the point where she had forgotten she had even become a Meicrackmon.
What Mae's walk throughout the library revealed to her was also something she wasn't expecting. Because for a moment she thought she was looking at a taller mirror. The Meicrackmon had been met with another one who seemed to be musing to herself. "...Do you think aquatic digimon just conduct that sort of thing all by themselves?"
Probably no way to start a conversation.

Honestly she could spend weeks in this place just going over a single simple subject, there was just so much information here that it'd be impossible to practically read it all. But what else could she really do? That and it wasn't terribly boring; it gave her something to do and kept her out of trouble.
It also made it so that she could keep her mind off of the fishing incident a bit even though she was told she did okay. She still couldn't shake the feeling that she was missing a few things about the incident as a whole. That there was more that she could of done. Her ears flicked a little bit as she heard steps approaching; a scent she didn't recognize following with it. Leaning back from the book she was reading the meicrackmon would rub her eyes and look in the coming direction of the steps.
She was greeted with the sight of a smaller version of herself; well same size if you went by meicoomon standards. It took her a moment or two to realize that the other had heard what she said and even made a comment about it. There was a spark of excitement in there but she'd consider what they said in response to her musings.
"Maybe? There's a lot of rivers and lakes in the digital world right? So maybe they use that. Or just stick to trailmon lines."
The meicrackmon leaned to get a good look at the meicoomon. This one was new, not related to her. Didn't smell anything like her parents; or her siblings. And smelled like other places she probably hadn't been to as well. Her excitement could easily be seen in her tail, her tendrils and the smile that worked it's way onto her face.
"My name's holly! What's yours? I've never met another meicoomon before. Didn't think there was that many..."

"It could be either. I've not had the chance to explore that much to see that in action..." Mae mumbled. She stared up at the Meicrackmon. This was what the not...scary version of her higher form looked like. At least, she was sure it was. This individual was...well.
Bubbly. It reminded her of Haru. Speaking of Haru, she had the same name as her...uh. Pseudonym. SO, that took her a moment to process. "...Oh. Um. I'm Mae. There's more than a few out in the world. They're...uh. Long story short, there's a lot more cats than just us two in the world."
Like a plague. "...Whatcha reading? Economics...? Infrastructure?" Words she was not that familiar with.

"Oh. Okay!"
The meicrackmon blinked a little bit and looked somewhat uncertain for a moment before turning another page in the book. There was a lot here, it was pretty simple stuff. Stuff she could understand; it was just lists of locations and sometimes a map of an area. Crudely drawn or finely printed. But each one brought more and more questions of whatever location she was looking at at the time.
"Well I mean, I figured there were others! But I haven't met one! So it's kinda nice! A pleasure to meet you Mae!"
The meicrackmon gave a rather big smile, and probably would of given the other a hug if she wasn't sitting and currently looking at this book or the pages within it. But her excitement was still palatable, still easy to see. Her tendrils and tail didn't stop their motions if anything they seemed to kick it up just a little bit. At the query Holly blinked and looked down at the book.
"Nothing like that! Just maps and small little blurbs, some explorers manual I think. The cover was really worn so I couldn't really tell? What about you? What are you down here for? Need any help finding anything? I'm just.. sorta down here to read stuff cause I'm done with my chores and the books I have upstairs I read already!"
Holly was practically bouncing in her chair at this point, she'd tilt her head just a little bit and quietly stare at the meicoomon. She had tons of questions for Mae, but she wasn't sure which would be okay to ask or what would be a little out of place. She thought of a marvelously simple one and that brought a smile to her face far more than any of the others. If the answer was yes then maybe she could have a friend that wasn't a part of her family! Not that her family was bad but... she felt like most of them were busy bees and she didn't want to interrupt that!
"...Do you live here too?"

"I hadn't met one either before I came here. I'm still a bit shocked there's others like me and unlike me, if that makes sense." Mae admitted. This one seemed kind of...younger in mentality than she did. It was strange. "Oh, uh. I was down here to continue reading through the...selection here. I have a pretty huge backlog to get through and being able to see the future does not help with that."
Did she live here? Well, if she didn't then she wouldn't be here, right? "I mean, I call it home. It's more home than the woods that I came from...Uh, I guess you live here too? Did you get brought here by a human like I did?"
The Meicoomon decided to hop into a chair. Seemed polite.

"It does make sense! I'm sort of excited to meet more to be honest. Well. I'm just excited to meet more people to be fair."
The meicrackmon rubbed her neck and glanced down at the book that she was reading a little bit ago. So this other mei was the sort that liked to read too? That was something that they maybe could relate on!It was odd to think that most of the people that she knew were cats. Her father and sister were both Cats... and from what her mother shared with her she could turn into a cat too! Though something caught her attention and she'd freeze before looking at Mae with a sort of awe.
"You can see the future? How does that... Wow! How does that work? Does it mess with what you're reading sometimes?"
The meicrackmon's ears flicked a little bit more and she'd lean to look at the other Mei in a fashion of curiosity. She called this place home? She used to live in the woods and was taken from that place by a human? She'd blink owlishly for a few moments and glance back towards where her 'home' was located.
"My Ma and Da picked me up from the village of beginning. My Da is Mikemon and my Ma is K! And uh. Syre is my sister and Siris is my brother! So I guess I live here with my family. They're really nice, you'd probably like them! If you were picked up by a human does that mean that they're your tamer or...?"
Another question simple but felt a little toothy in comparison to the others. This mei's hunger was a lot different than most of her kind, it was a nasty thirst for knowledge. There was a pause and a small quirk of a brow as a few questions popped into her head.
"Can you grow like this too? Da said meicoomon was a champion form, but mine is a rookie. Is yours like that or? What's your favorite kind of book?"
She was practically on the edge of her seat, still bouncing in excitement. Her book lay forgotten at this point as her attention was more or less focused on Mae.

"It's involuntary in nature. People say I space out for a time, but it feels kind of like...well, my vision gets torn away from 'now' and I get a glimpse of 'what's to come.' The clarity of these depends on the form I'm in. And...to make a long story short? It does! It really does. Sometimes I get spoiled on something that's coming in a few pages. Kind of a bummer." The Meicoomon explained. It hadn't happened yet...Here at least. But it had kicked in so many times before. Shown her so many things. Things she should not have seen. "...I can't control what I see, either. Anyways. I'm excited when I meet new people here. Nobody's tried to harm me yet. Which is a good thing."
She listened to Holly's story. So...She was born at the village. The baby village that she had never seen. Moreover...Holly was a Meicoomon that had family...
Some part of that bugged Mae. She gazed at the table in thought. "...Ah. Uh. I don't...have anyone like that." Yeah. Let's go with that. "And it's...a long story. Basically the girl that brought me here asked me to be -her- tamer which is probably not how it works in the slightest but it made her really happy. I spend a lot of time in my holosuit outside of the library, so I guess it'd make sense when you consider the fact this girl spends a lot of time as a digimon...Spirit Wielders are odd." She took a pause.
Wait, this girl's Meicoomon form was a rookie...? "No, not at all. This is my champion form. Is...Is that Meicrackmon form your Champion state...? They're usually Ultimate...Oh, my favorite book's this big one I haven't finished reading. It's in French and it's called...uh...The Count of Monte Cristo. It's super old."

"That has to be somewhat... uh. Jarring then? I don't know what I'd do with something like that."
The meicrackmon blinked a little bit and rubbed her neck awkwardly, staring quietly at what she amounted to her first friend outside of family. She'd tilt her head just a little bit and look around in somewhat abject surprise. There was a small frown on her face and she'd scratch at one of her ears with a somewhat concerned expression after a moment.
"Why would anyone try to harm you in a library? Heck why would anyone do that in general? That's not very nice."
Then Mae explained that she didn't have anyone like that, she in fact had been brought here by a spirit wielder of all things? One of those things mentioned in the books she had been reading a while ago but not in detail or depth.
"I've never heard of something like that, that's... really interesting. I'm uh. Sorry to hear that you don't have anyone like that... Uh. Well. I hope you find someone like that soon!"
There was a surprising amount of bounce in holly still and the meicrackmon blinked a few times before slowly nodding. So not all meicoomon were rookies then? She didn't have anyone to compare to... well up until now at least.
"Oh. Uhm. That's a surprise and uh, yeah this is my champion state. They're usually ultimate? Think I might have a meicrackmon in ultimate too? OH! I've seen that somewhere! I think it was in the human section, I didn't pick it out cause I already had like six books... Super old? How old?"

"It's good for avoiding things...I guess. It'd be really rude to harm someone in a library. Or fight in a library." Mae shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know why people do that. I guess Meicoomon actually -are- that terrible or something like that. I dunno, I've been likened to a plague a lot. In theory, it sounds cool as heck, from what I've read, but at the same time, being associated with hurting people, ironically enough, hurts."
Was Holly trying to sympathize with Mae...? "Oh, I hope I find some parents too. Maybe some day." ...She wasn't about to admit she had some visions about one and...nothing to indicate who the other was. Maybe not yet. "That sounds normal. I can turn into one for my ultimate stage, and access the other variant of the form via the regular one. It's...kind of painful for me to do. I don't like it..."
As to how old the book was?
"And it's from the nineteenth century in the human world. So, this translates to...about twelve hundred and eighteen years in this world. It's a really old book...But it's still a good one. Really involved and complicated. Though, I'm not sure if it's healthy for me to be this ecstatic over a guy plotting the most involved revenge scheme of all time...But I get it. I understand why. I'd be mad too if someone threw me in the slammer over false accusations..."

"Well. It's a place of knowledge and learning, why would you fight in such a place?"
Holly paused and blinked a few times as Mae said something she didn't quite understand. That Meicoomon were terrible, that they have been compared to the plague. That they were associated with hurting people?
"That... doesn't sound right? Why would people think we're terrible? Or that we're like a plague? Well yeah.. hurting people is mean and... well. No one wants to be a meanie."
She didn't like how that rolled out, she didn't like that assumption. She wasn't bad, Mae didn't seem bad to her. Sure she had a desire for knowledge that was constantly fed to the brim with where she was living. Her ears flicked and wiggled and there was a look of discomfort about her with this comparison.
"Well I bet you'd be welcome to stay with my family if you need time to wind down and do stuff! Ma makes really good dinners and she's super friendly! Da uh. Well Da does doctory stuff and has told me a bunch of stuff I didn't know before."
The Meicrackmon leaned a little bit, as though she was going to reach out. But she stopped herself; she felt like comforting this other meicoomon but maybe it was just... wrong to do so at this point? What could she say?
"It's... painful? That doesn't sound good. Maybe you should talk to someone that knows about variant forms and stuff. What does yours look like? Any different than mine? I bet your fur looks pretty. Wonder what mine might look like..."
Holly blinked a few times as Mae explained that the book was from the human world, and that it was from a timeframe of the nineteenth century. So it was well over twelve hundred years in the digital world. Holly herself looked rather surprised and scratched at her ear with an eased curiosity.
"That is really old! The oldest thing I've heard of I think! I should give it a read when I get the chance. That... sounds actually pretty relatable. Getting blamed for something you didn't do isn't... nice."

"Basically, there's a...lot of Meicoomon around. So much so that people are generally confused about them. And the thing with them is that a lot of them...have this hunger. It's ravenous in nature. They can't control it, so they're led to do bad things to sate that hunger, such as hurt people. And so many are like that that I guess people view them as what we are in general. Monsters."
The worst part about saying that for Mae was she could actually describe that hunger because she FELT it before. In the Labyrinth with that Groundramon...For a brief moment, Mae had a thousand-yard stare. Something equatable to that, at least. "Oh, I've met your father before. He's...kind. Well-learned. I dunno who your mom is, though. Is her name seriously just...K? Like...Potassium?"
On the subject of the other form... "Well, I first assumed it because I was pinned under a rock with a Groundramon ready to eat me. So I associate it with pain. I...got a look at myself in a puddle of water after that. While I was still in the form. It looked like I was...redder to some amount. There were bits of gray energy stuff around me. But my fur had this...red glow to it. My eyes were also red, too. It was like I was seeing red...My regular Meicrackmon form does look just like yours, though. I can confirm that much."
It felt a little uncomfortable recounting what she could recall about Vicious Mode...Ah, well. "I think it has another message in it, too. At what point does...revenge stop being revenge and just plain cruel? At what point is it considered 'too far?' But...I'll wait till you've read it for yourself. Don't wanna spoil anything...And yes. False accusations are indeed infuriating..."

"Oh that? I've got that too. But uh. It's just for knowing stuff. Just means we have to be more careful then right? And prove people wrong!"
The meicrackmon beamed a little bit and flicked her tendrils; when it came down to it Holly herself had never felt the hunger that the other was talking about. Perhaps she didn't have it in the same way or maybe it was just something that hadn't come to her yet. Either way? It would take some time to actually find out.
"He's really smart! Her name is just K! Though to be fair there's a lot of people that just use their mon names as their own so I guess there isn't much room to judge. Uhhhh... She's a team leader! I don't know much about her team other than they're out alllllllllll the way in rosewood."
Holly paused a little bit and looked down at her hands frowning quietly as the other explained why they felt that way and why they associated it with pain. She didn't know what a groundramon looked like but if the latter most portion of the name was anything to go by it was a dragon of some kind?
"That sounds awful. My first uh... digivolution to this was cause of a... mishap in a fishing trip."
Honestly holly didn't know what to say about that trip still, she was still trying to understand what it meant to hurt. What it meant to be hurt, in a way she couldn't really explain. That angry gnawing at her stomach and chest.
"So it's a story that has a lesson or two in it? That's really neat! Mmmmm!"
The meicrackmon leaned so that she could stand up scratching at her ear again. She wanted to go find this book now but she didn't exactly recall where it was.
"Revenge isn't nice though, Ma explained to me that it can eat you up really bad."

"Different sort of hunger. And yes, it does mean we must be more careful." Mae felt weird speaking like this. "...I mean, my name's just Mae. And when you factor the fact I'm a Meicoomon in...Uh. Yeah, my name isn't the most original either. Rosewood...I've never been there before."
She would have to look into this in more detail later, evidently. The cat frowned at Holly's story. Not story, but...a blurb?. "...That doesn't sound a lot better, Holly. Are you alright? I mean...you -are- standing here now and all."
Mae's expression continued to light up as she got to talk about her favorite book. "Mmhmm! Lots of things to be learned! Though...I guess your mom does have a point. The Count's quest for revenge doesn't come without consequences. That's all I'll say." Can't spoil someone on a good book, right?

"It's really weird sometimes. But hopefully if we are careful it won't be such a problem for people either!"
The meicrackmon rubbed at her ear and blinked a few times. Mae claiming that her name wasn't the most original and that she hadn't been to Rosewood. Holly eased out a soft sigh and she'd shrug her shoulders quietly.
"It's a nice place, felt kinda small. Or at least that's the vibe I got from it. Like it was just... getting ready for stuff."
Holly closed her eyes a little bit and let out another sigh. She wasn't all right, not in the slightest. She had this gnawing agony in her chest and in the pit of her stomach every time she thought of that trip. It didn't affect how much she wanted to fish and such but...
"It hurts thinking about it. I don't. I don't like thinking about it. So I try not to. I didn't get hurt. My sister did. It was my fault and there's no getting around that. It aches. In a way I really can't explain. I don't know if I'd even want to if I could."
The meicrackmon wiped at her eyes, were these tears again? Every time she talked about this to someone she felt her emotions run thick and her eyes would water up. She even felt her voice shake a little bit from all of that. Holly didn't really know what else to say about the topic of Mae's favorite book, she'd rub at her neck and eyes trying to stop those annoying tears.
"No... you really can't...."
