Integration into AEGIS had been... challenging. Tadayoshi came from a home full of rules and regulations and strict schedules, so he wasn't as thrilled to join this organization as he had expected to be with its rules and regulations and strict schedules. Of course, the work he was doing now was a lot more noble than simply studying, but it was also a lot more, ironically, hands-off. That meant most of his day was spent on babysitting duty.
And it wasn't even other digimon he was babysitting.
"Watch-"
"-your-"
"-head-"
"-General!" was Tadayoshi's warning to duck as four overly energetic Missimon zoomed to the left right, and over, and finally right at his head, once again engaged in their little game of tag. Yoshi supposed he couldn't blame them for their boredom given their natural energy and general lack of activity, but the problem was the way they played tended to get a bit... destructive. And Yoshi was not interested in paying for damages again. Still, he just couldn't be bothered to stop them this time.
Exasperated, glancing at the clock, the 16-year-old Japanese native took a seat in an office chair. Even on duty, the teenage General had elected to stick to civvies instead of the uniform with only his badge as identification for AEGIS. From behind, a Renamon approached and asked incredulously, "Again? Are they really-?"
"Yep," Yoshi nonchalantly confirmed.
"I can't help feeling restless myself." That was a deep-voiced Commandramon speaking from another chair a few feet away, who was in the middle of cleaning his partially disassembled rifle. "Things haven't been the same since Noble Aim."
"Idleness doesn't suit you," Tadayoshi couldn't help but agree. "Not sure it suits me either."

A few days had passed since Satoshi and Gabumon were spotted in Snowflake Village, extremely shaken by their time trapped in the Spyware Cavern. Since then, the young man had stuck to his room in AEGIS HQ, only coming out for brief moments to do the bare minimum of his work for the day, and maybe to occasionally eat.
Gabumon, meanwhile, had been doing his best to keep up on his training. He was also very shaken by the events of the past few months, and tried to bury himself in his activities to compensate. However, since his Tamer could barely manage to put on a clean shirt in the mornings, he was basically stuck at the Rookie level.
One day, Satoshi had stumbled out of his room to go down to the office space and get what little work done that he could when he noticed a small swarm of Missimon flying around the office. At the center of it all was a teenager with two other Digimon around him. Satoshi was a little shocked to see somebody other than John or Sophie at the office, but tried to be calm. "Um...good morning," he said, his voice a bit rough from disuse over time. "Can I...help you?"
The chances of this kid knowing about AEGIS' true intentions were pretty high, considering he had a small army of Digimon around him. Something about that calmed Toshi's nerves.

Commandramon was the first to notice the stranger walking inside. As he looked up with a small, "Hmm?" his eye contact with Satoshi quickly became awkward as he continued it while locking his clearly loaded magazine back into its proper place on the now fully functional weapon. At least he had the basic decency to keep the muzzle pointed at the floor while the safety was still on.
"Whoa!"
"Watch-"
"-out-"
"-stranger!" The four whizzing missiles all came dangerously close to beaning Satoshi, but they had barely the self-control to come to full stops on the ground just by his feet.
"Where are your sisters?" The Missimon all simultaneously shrugged as if it had been a choreographed action. "Bring them." At least someone managed to keep those little guys under control, for on his command they all flew out of the room. "Please forgive them," he then asked of Satoshi with a polite bow, "They're only children, after all."
"Oh, boy..." the teenager sighed at this display but finally rose up out of his seat to greet the other agent. "Have we met before? You don't look familiar." Tadayoshi plucked his badge from his back pocket and displayed it while explaining, "I'm Tadayoshi Teppei, and I guess I'm the new kid. That's Commandramon, Renamon, Hagurumon-" Perhaps Hagurumon wasn't the social type, for Yoshi had to hold up his blue-and-silver Xros loader to show an image of the gear digimon on the screen. "-plus the Missimon siblings Bonnie, Connie, Tawny, Lonnie, Ronnie, and Sid. There's also a cluster of MetalKoromon who we just call Alpha through Hotel like the NATO alphabet. I don't know where they are, but they aren't troublemakers like the Missimon." Yoshi let out a breath, as that was a long introduction to give without pause for breathing.

Satoshi wasn't prepared for the amount of activity in the office. As the four Missimon nearly crashed into him, he flinched a bit, but luckily they didn't bump into him. "Woah, there! Sorry about that!" he said, trying to be calm.
After that, the Tamer looked over at the boy's Commandramon partner, who was finishing up cleaning a rather sizable rifle. Normally, Satoshi would've been unsettled by this, but lately he was finding himself incapable of being unnerved about more minor things like that.
After the Missimon raced out of the room, the boy at the desk introduced himself as Tadayoshi Teppei, an AEGIS agent. Well, that certainly changed things. Satoshi relaxed a bit, taking a deep breath in and out. "It's nice to meet all of you," he said. This kid sure had a lot of partners, and a strange Digivice to boot! "My name is Satoshi Himura, and I'm the head of technology here at AEGIS." He showed off his badge and Digivice to assure his newfound coworker that he did indeed work there. "My partner's name is Gabumon, but he's elsewhere right now." It probably would be unprofessional to say that Satoshi actually had no idea where his Digimon partner was at the moment, so he kept quiet.
It had been a while since Satoshi had really interacted with anyone else, so he wasn't sure what to say next. Luckily, he wouldn't have to, as an alert went off on the computer at his desk. It was rare for them to have an actual job to do, so the notification startled him a bit. "Just a second," he said, waving awkwardly as he lightly jogged over to his desk and checked the screen.
"It seems there's reports of an electrical disturbance out near Yoyogi Park," he said, summarizing the details. "Chances are it's just a freak occurrence, but the symptoms do also point to a Digimon being somewhere it's not supposed to be." He looked over at Tadayoshi and his small army of Digimon. "Want to go check it out together?"
Normally, Satoshi would never be out in the field, instead opting to stay in the office all day and fiddle around on his computer. However, he hadn't left HQ since returning to the human world, so he probably needed some fresh air.

"'Gabumon?'" was the first thing out of the teenage General's mouth. That was a name he recognized even if he'd never met the one Satoshi was referring to. His mind flashed back to one Rebecca Story's Gabumon, the one who helped him not have a nervous breakdown when introduced to the digital... and the digimon attached to one of his favorite idols. You know what? I should try again to get an autograph some- Too bad the young man's fantasies were interrupted by that alert and Satoshi's suggestion in the face of it.
The fact that Commandramon's eyes got that fire in them again in an instant wasn't lost on Tadayoshi. "Eager, are you?"
"I'm not meant for an office." Commndramon almost looked like he wanted to spit at the thought, cocking his weapon and therefore prepping one round in the chamber. "Withdraw me, General."
"Easy, Top... we don't even know this is a digimon yet, let alone one you have to force." Nonetheless, Yoshi commanded, "Commandramon, Renamon, withdraw." Soon as they joined Hagurumon inside the Loader, he spoke to the loader itself. "MetalKoromon, Missimon, report to-" Yoshi couldn't even get the command out before the Missimon formed a horizontal single-file line six digimon long by the boy's feet. "-that was fast."
"We're-"
"-bored!"
"Let's-"
"-kick-
"some-"
"Watch the languge? Please?" Tadayoshi pleased from the sextet. Mercifully, they did. It was a couple of seconds after they withdrew that eight MetalKoromon floated a few inches off the ground from another room in a two-by-four pattern in perfect uniformity. Satoshi might have caught that each had a western letter A through H painted in red on their backs before they, too, were digitized. To Satoshi, Yoshi warily addressed, "I'd be honored by the company, but... are you OK? You look... rough."

Satoshi was surprised to watch Tadayoshi return his partners into his Digivice. This was a technology he hadn't encountered yet! So many thoughts of studying the device, and possibly getting a practical use out of its functions raced through the technology engineer's head. For the first time in a very long time, Satoshi cracked a genuine smile.
As the Missimon and MetalKoromon shuffled in, Yoshi made a comment about Satoshi's current state. He seemed pretty perceptive, which was a good thing for an AEGIS agent. "I'll be alright," Satoshi assured him, smiling.
The door to the office opened again, and Gabumon could be seen walking in, wiping his face off with a towel. He was sweating a bit, which clued Satoshi into the fact that he had just completed a workout. He had walked in with his eyes closed, but when he opened them, he was a little surprised to see Satoshi.
"Ah, you're out of bed!" Gabumon grinned. "Are you ready to join the world of the living?"
"You got it, bud," Satoshi grinned back. "Now get ready to head out, we've got work." He went back to his desk and gathered the rest of his things, and turned over to Yoshi, waiting for him to finish getting ready.

"Hmm?" Tadayoshi looked over his shoulder just as he finished assembling his entire 17-strong army into his Xros Loader to find that Gabumon walking into the office. Nope. Definitely not the Gabumon I know. This new one was better built, for starters, no doubt the result of many workouts like the one he was obviously coming from. The voice was different, too, even though the sex was the same.
Ouch, though. What terrible timing. Gabumon was still sweating, and suddenly he was on the job? Yoshi couldn't help but feel a little bad for the fur-coated reptilian. He was probably worn out. Then he remembered Satoshi's own obvious fatigue, no matter his attempts to deny it. For Tadayoshi, the math was simple. We're going to have to watch their backs, and I'm not convinced they can be counted on to watch mine. Then again, they are our seniors. Still... With a simple nod, Tadayoshi acknowledged, "We're ready. Oscar Mike."

Sure, Gabumon had just gotten out of a workout and was getting thrown into a mission, but he was just excited to see Satoshi up and around. Hopefully this meant they could move on from their ordeal and become stronger for it.
"Let's be off, then," Satoshi said, after confirming that everyone else was ready. Satoshi threw some clothes from his desk at Gabumon, who quickly threw them on. In lieu of a Holosuit, Satoshi had improvised and gave Gabumon some highly covering clothing to do what he could to keep his Digimon from being discovered.
The walk to Yoyogi Park was longer than originally planned, but Satoshi nearly had a spring in his step. It had been several days since he had been outside, and the fresh air was doing wonders for him and Gabumon.
"There's a chance that we might end up in a combat situation," Satoshi muttered. "It's been a little bit since Gabumon and I have done any fighting, so we might be a bit rusty. That said, we're more suited for CQC, so if you have any ranged combat options, those would probably be beneficial."

Maybe I miscalculated. Satoshi, contrary to presumptions, was acting and looking reinvigorated after getting out and about, and Gabumon was not showing the exhaustion that the Xros General had expected of him. I guess Gabumon is just that fit.
Tadayoshi could hardly argue. Being cooped up wasn't his idea of productivity either.
From within the digivice in Tadayoshi's back pocket, Commandramon's voice responded, "We're more than capable of operating from most any distance or any terrain... or lack thereof."
Tadayoshi agreed. "I won't pretend I know everything about humans with digimon, but I'm pretty sure of this: Tamers like you are pairs or trios who tend to specialize. Your options are limited, but you're the best at what you can do. I've never met another General like myself, and I'm not even sure one exists, but in my experience my team has proven extremely adaptable and versatile. I could count the things we can't do on one hand."
"Number one: walk the streets like normal people," Renamon bitterly hissed.
"Yeah, and speaking of which..." Tadayoshi tentatively preluded, "I respect you two's seniority over us in AEGIS, but is it a good idea to walk together openly like that? Besides the obvious reasons, I'm afraid a hostile digimon, if that's what this is, will sense us coming."

Satoshi listened as Tadayoshi spoke about his team's versatility. He had to admit, he was quite jealous. If he had that kind of adaptability to any situation, it would be much easier to do things that he and Gabumon just couldn't do on their own.
However, the Renamon and her "general" brought up a good point. Covering Gabumon up in layers of human clothing at least did an okay job of hiding the Rookie on a surface level to most humans, but if a Digimon was out and about they'd most likely be able to sense him. There were definitely methods to alleviate this, but Satoshi had never found time to explore said methods. "This is the best we've got to work with at the moment," he explained. "We'll just have to adjust our strategy accordingly."
Gabumon stayed silent, but that Renamon's comment and tone succeeded in pushing his buttons. Who were they to speak down to him, let alone Toshi? He silently fumed a bit as they walked into the park.
As the group wandered farther into Yoyogi Park, they noticed a slight haze begin to form around them. "This fog seems...familiar," Satoshi noted.
Gabumon sniffed at the air. "There's definitely a Digimon nearby," he said. "This scent is very potent-" he stopped dead in his tracks, and Satoshi looked back to see an expression of pure terror on his partner's face.
"What's wrong, Gabumon?" Satoshi asked, concerned.
"The enemy is extremely powerful," he said vaguely. "We have to evacuate the park-" Before he could finish another sentence, a loud crash echoed through the park, causing both Tamer and Digimon to take notice. They took off in the direction of the noise, hardly thinking of their own safety.
"Tadayoshi, get the nearby civilians to safety!" Satoshi barked, trying his best to be a leader in this situation. "Give us support from range if you can, as well!"

"I can't think of any reason why isolate fog would be familiar," Yoshi responded, "but I do know there's absolutely no reason why only this park should be shrouded." Unfortunately, it seemed to worry Gabumon enough that he went and ran off with his human partner. "Isn't it a little presumptuos to order an evac?" Yoshi muttered to the digivice in his back pocket.
The loader muttered back, "Gabumon seemed certain. I think you should trust he sensed something the rest of us didn't."
"I'm still not convinced, but I'll trust your trust in him. All Missimon, deploy."
"Yessir!" they all eagerly agreed before pouring out of the digivice an lining up three-by-two.
"You guys can't have civilian contact with you guys, so you; have to clear the area the old fashioned way. Something tells me that won't be a problem for you." Tadayoshi knew the kids would love to get let off the leash. They smiled. Yoshi smiled. "Gonna stand around all day or what?" They didn't. Every one of them jetted upward and flew in a circle once just below the top of the fog before dispersing perfectly equidistant in six different directions. From there, each flew straight at the ground, collided with it... and exploded.
Tadayoshi shouted, "Gas explosion! Look out!" and by the sounds of fading screams around him that the explosions scared people off while, hopefully, Yoshi's cover would obscure the truth. It is weird fog, after all. The General commanded, "Top, Renamon, Alpha through Hotel, deploy and standby for fusion."
"Yes, sir," Commandramon dutifully acknowledged.
"I'm ready," Renamon answered.
The cluster of fresh level digimon didn't answer with words, but all present knew their excited beeping noises were an affirmative. "Gotta identify a target first. Top?"
"Precision Shot." The handle sight on the dragon's weapon transformed into a short scope whose front lens was colored red: an infrared vision sight. This let him see heat signatures past the fog. "All civilians cleared. Visual on two friendlies and... one unknown. Equine-shape. Pegasusmon by my guess. Reccoment X2 for minimum collateral."
"Agreed. Ready for-" Every member of Silence present recoiled when one of the power lines above let a jolt of electricity like a lightning bolt strike dead ahead of them. "Captain!"
"Pegasusmon drew power from the grid. It's digivolving!" The red shape of the digimon morphed before Commandramon's eyes. "Sir, it's Indaramon! Ultimate level!"
"X3 then. Satoshi! Gabumon! Target is Indaramon!" Hopefully they could still hear him. Minimizing collateral still mattered, of course, so the choice of fusion was obvious. "Fuse!"
All ten deployed digimon became shiny balls of light that collided in midair to form, "Scorpmon, locked and loaded." Scorpmon lay down prone on the grass and trained his rifle on the enemy. "Acquiring target."
But Indaramon struck before Scorpmon could. He stood tall and proud before Yoshi... and looked down on him with a sort of arrogant indifference. He attempted to bring a hoof own and simply squish Satoshi like a bug. Commandramon used the non-combat effect of Precision Shot to gain infrared vision. -Precision Shot: The current sight or scope of this digimon's rifle disappears to be replaced by one more appropriate for the current range that automatically corrects aim for wind, distance, and target motion, and it even provides weak-point analysis. This digimon aims the scope or sight, then fires one highly precise energy bullet to deal damage. This attack's accuracy is boosted by 30%, and its damage is boosted by 25%. Outside of combat, this ability may be used at any time without triggering a cooldown to access various scope types like night vision, infrared, and long-range zoom. Cooldown: 2 post.
Commandramon, Renamon, and MetalKoromon fused to become X3 Scorpmon.
Indaramon attempted to stomp on Satoshi.

Satoshi and Gabumon reached the target in time to see a lone Pegasusmon drawing energy from the power grid. Before the two could even react, they were stunned when they discovered that the enemy had managed to use the excess energy to Digivolve into Indaramon, an Ultimate level.
Satoshi wanted to act, he really did. However, the mere thought of fighting again really sunk in, and he panicked. As the Indaramon brought its foot down on the young man, he merely cowered and shielded his head and face. He fully expected to just die, but it seemed that someone else had other plans.
"Gabumon Matrix Digivolve to...WereGarurumon!"
As Satoshi slowly opened his eyes, he would notice WereGarurumon using every ounce of his strength to stop Indaramon's hoof from squishing the both of them. As his muscles rippled and strained against the force, he looked back at Satoshi. "We can't keep doing this," he grunted. "You can't keep just throwing yourself into danger at the first opportunity and get yourself killed! I'm supposed to protect you, and if I can't do that, what good am I?"
Satoshi was still in somewhat of a panic state, so he was unable to respond, but deep down he knew his partners words were accurate. Ever since he had arrived in the Digital World, fighting was something that he would honestly have preferred to avoid. However, due to the nature of his job, and the nature of being a Tamer. He had also never really taken the time to consider Gabumon, his partner. The two initially felt like a mismatch, one preferring to avoid combat all together while the other would rush in headfirst. However, after their ordeal, Gabumon seemed to be more cautious, while Satoshi became a recluse all together and didn't know what to do with himself anymore. Maybe they weren't ready for this, but it was time to make the effort!
Gabumon Digivolves to WereGarurumon and stops Indaramon's stomp.
WereGarurumon and Satoshi are pinned down and require assistance!

Well at least they can reach the rank we need, but- Satoshi and his companion were clearly not in a good position, even if at least Tadayoshi and his army seemed to be momentarily safe. "How the heck did something like this slip so far past all our surveillance?"
The disciplined sniper did not immediately answer. He was just then inhaling his last of three breaths as a display within his scope gave distance, wind, movement, gravity, air resistance, and Coriolis effect data all to assist him in lining up the perfect shot. His cross-hairs moved across the scope dynamically according to all these factors. So, as son as Tadayoshi demanded that explanation, the only verbal answer he got was a stone-cold, "Firing." The soft warning got Tadayoshi to cover his ears in time to spare himself ear damage from the absurdly loud crack of the gunfire. "Let the technical analyst worry about surveillance."
"Well he can't well do that if he's crushed, now can he?"
"No, he cannot." Scorpmon had been aiming straight for where he suspected the digicore would be on this digimon, but a sudden increase in force down on Weregarugumon that forced his hands downward a few feet. This also caused the horse's body to shift just enough that the bullet pierced through even that armored chest cleanly, putting a nice big hole in it, but preventing a lethal shot. Still, that made the big horse release the pressure on Weregarurumon and stumble back, one hand over the wound. "Nonlethal hit. Reacquiring."
"Satoshi-sama! You've got to move!" Yoshi still couldn't be sure he was audible, but he had to try. Shoot, I don't know how we're gonna pass this off as a gas leak if gunshots are ringing. Hopefully Satoshi and Sophie won't be too mad we're skipping the arrest and moving straight to lethal force, 'cause this is crazy!
Indaramon hissed and growled, but through the fog he wasn't able to see the one who had wounded him. He was, however, still able to see Satoshi and Weregarurumon. "Get out of my way!" he boomed at them both, and that was their only warning before, "Lightning Shock!" On the declaration, an aura of electricity burst out in every direction in every dimension from Indaramon as the epicenter that seemed to electrify the very air around him on its path outward, only dissipating a few dozen feet away from himself. Scorpmon attacked Indaramon with High-Velocity Penetrator. -High-Velocity Penetrator: This digimon fires a single metal bullet at an opponent out of his rifle. This bullet is capable of shooting through several trees, buildings, some sheets of metal, and even multiple digimon with minimal change in velocity. The energy this round carries ups its destructive power by 50%. Cooldown: 2 posts. Indaramon was hit by High-Velocity Penetrator. Indaramon attacked everybody too close to him with Lightning Shock. -Lightning Shock: This digimon looses an electric blast in all directions from his body in an outwardly-expanding sphere shape.
High-Velocity Penetrator must cool down: 2 posts remaining.

If Satoshi had known how this Digimon had managed to slip past surveillance, then it wouldn't have ever happened in the first place. However, he would later attribute it to his own lack of attention on the matter after returning to the Real World. That, though, was low on the current priority list. What mattered at the moment was neutralizing the threat and returning to safety. Finally shaking himself awake, Satoshi managed to run away before Indaramon let a powerful electric blast loose on the surrounding area. He dove out of the way just as he got out of the maximum range of the blast, feeling the electrical current surge near his feet. Panting heavily, he looked to see how his Digimon partner was holding up. WereGarurumon obviously didn't take kindly to the attempted electrocution, but he wasn't looking too much worse for wear. If there was anything anyone could say about Satoshi's partner, it would be that he was resilient. He managed to get away from Indaramon in the shuffle and stood, sparks still flying off his body, with a look of pure contempt. "The timing of this couldn't be better," he spoke with a low growl. "I've got some shit to work out." As he stared down his opponent, his eyes seemed to turn from their normal yellow color to a blood red. The world around him disappeared, and all that remained was the Indaramon that had tried to stomp on him and his Tamer. With a roar, he charged at the equine beast, his outstretched claw glowing with a searing red energy.
WereGarurumon is hit by the Lightning Shock, but powers through with his Mythril Fur passive. -Mythrill Fur (Passive): WereGarurumon's fur is extremely durable. "Firing." Bang! With another trigger squeeze, the disciplined sniper remained perfectly still while another lightning-fast bullet whizzed toward Indaramon.
"Hit?" The General asked his soldier, unable to properly see given the weather conditions at hand.
"I missed."
"How did you miss?"
"Two undesirable moving targets are in close proximity of only one acceptable moving target." Scorpmon said that like it was just a casual fact instead of a life-or-death situation at hand, not letting himself be bothered by the implication that it was a shot he was expected to make. Scorpmon could only control everything up until his bullet left the barrel, though. In between the shot and the hit, Indaramon stumbled backward from the pain of a strike straight to the body at close-range, something he did not expect after an attack meant to ward others away. Naturally, the other pair were just too far back to be in the danger zone.
"Work this out!" Indaramon jumped back, then, behind one of the poles supporting the power lines. From there, he proceeded to whack the line with both his front hooves, causing sparks to rain down and the pole itself to tumble toward Weregarurumon.
We are so fired for this. Commandramon attacked Indaramon with Scorp Sting. -Scorp Sting: This digimon fires a metal bullet out of his rifle to deal damage.
