In all honesty, Amelie couldn't have asked for a better day in order to do some investigative journalism.
The premise was simple; a digimon that was thought extinct for centuries, if not actual Millennia had been sighted near one of the many islands that made the Binary Archipelago.
Mirage Island was how the locals referred to it. And Unagimon was their quarry's name. A gigantic, eel-like monster, a bit reminiscing of the Loch Ness monster depending on who you asked; most of the details surrounding this digimon were shrouded in mystery, but that was fine.
It was her job to uncover those mysteries, after all!
However, she wasn't alone in this particular venture; it was funny, but even despite the on-and-off contact she had maintained with Asher, they haven't been able to see each other for a fair bit of time. The reasons? Either work, or lack of time, or college, or other ventures the redhead wasn't willing to disclose through messages.
Not like the brunette had told him she was building a city, anyway.
She didn't know how, but the guy managed to be just the right amount of annoying at times. He avoided a timely slap by a hair's breadth one too many times. Or maybe... maybe Amelie was just a little too fond of him.
No way to know! Maybe that was one of the many things Amy hoped to find out in this outing, or at least be somewhat surer of what she felt.
Strange thoughts aside, the arranged time for their meeting was approaching. The place? Whitewater's No. 32 dock; they weren't traveling by boat, but being near the shore would come in handy, anyway.
Besides, watching the tide ebb and flow was a rather relaxing sight.

For once, it felt like Asher would arrive perfectly on time for his planned meeting. Normally, it seemed like the redhead was either far too early or too late. Then again, time moved strangely when shifting frequently between two worlds. It had definitely created a struggle in maintaining contact with some of the people he once spoke with.
And, that was why he was fairly happy about how today was going! Was happy the word? Excited? No. Excited sounded too... excited. What was the word? It was hard to say. But it had been quite some time since he'd had the chance to meet up with the person he had been failing at finding a reason to spend time with since--
Really, what did it matter? Should time really dictate how he felt about this? Even if he had probably broken some unwritten rule of scheduling any sort of outing months ago. Or, at least did more than just text! Somehow, that didn't seem to matter too much, though. Otherwise he wouldn't be helping on a hunt to solve a mystery! Right?
Not to mention that it was kind of refreshing to have a pre-planned event with a friend! Or something to that effect. Perhaps, that was what made him look forward to the remainder of the day.
Looking over the docks, the spirit user gave a small hum. While originally, he had been looking for the numbers, it was fairly obvious when he reached the proper one. After all, not every dock in Whitewater would have a brunette watching the tide!
If they did, it would be alarming.
Taking advantage of the chance that Amy was too focused on the water to notice anyone approaching, the ex-actor made soft steps toward her, trying to go unnoticed. And, once within arm's reach, he'd lightly grab both of her arms with a small, unsteady-ing motion. "Surprise!" If this sneak 'attack' succeeded, it would be obvious that his hands remained in place long enough to ensure that the girl wouldn't slip -- and if she showed any sign of doing so, he would pull her back to safety before anything could happen. After all, he wasn't mean enough to risk throwing someone in the water just for a joke!

Maybe a bit too relaxing of a sight? Amelie had pretty much lost any kind of awareness of her surroundings while she watched the tide go back and forth. A simple movement that the brunette hadn't appreciated so closely for a rather long time. She even went as far as to reminisce one or two vague memories of a doing this exact same thing near the shipyards of her birthplace.
Happier times? Sadder times? Probably just different, in all honesty.
Not like her reverie would last for long, anyway. Asher would've probably made a lot more noise than what he was currently making; Amy would still be none the wiser to the incoming surprise. Her reaction would be just as expected, more or less. The redhead succeeded with flying colors at both surprising and scaring Amelie, not to say that he did a pretty good job at robbing, then returning the girl's balance back to her.
The first response coming from Amy was rather obvious. “Eeek!” A panicked yelp escaped her mouth as her mind wrapped around what was exactly happening. Luckily, it didn't take her a lot of time to discern what was happening; before Asher could take his arms off her, she gripped them as strongly as she could before using the small measure of impetus given by the redhead himself in order to just... dive into the waver, rather unceremoniously.
If things worked like she wanted them to, the pair would be enjoying a refreshing moment right on this instant! Did Asher know how to swim, by the way? Amelie felt like she hadn't asked him that, even though that seemed like a pretty basic skill for an actor to have, so hopefully she wouldn't have to worry!
Besides, the water wasn't all that bad; wet clothes aside, it seemed like the perfect remedy for the slightly annoying sun! “Hey, Asher. It's nice to see you!” In case anyone wondered, the girl's tone was as irreverent as it could be. “How have you been? Long time no see!”
In all frankness, it was kinda hard to discern the intent of the brunette's words. Or whether she was annoyed at how the events had unfolded or just teasing back a guy who thought that playing a joke on her was a good idea.

It seemed that the scare had been a success! Perhaps, too much of one! While the redhead had been fairly sure that he had kept Amy safe, she clearly had other plans. Feeling Amy's grip was enough of a warning that something was going to come from this that he had been trying to avoid! Before he could even manage to relay the 'oh no' from his thoughts to his lips, he already found himself in the water.
Luckily, he knew how to swim! And Amy apparently did, too! Lifting his head, the teen's first reaction was to adjust his glasses, and shake his head to try to remove water from his hair. Would any of the stray drops 'attack' Amelie in their escape from him? Hopefully!
Hearing her talk, however, just made the teen begin laughing. What else could really be done at this point? Get upset about having wet clothes? He really should have expected this to happen! "I'm great!!" Asher responded after a moment, a wide smile attempting to replace the laughter. "A little wet! But, I can't figure out why! Do you think it rained?"
Pretending to squint at the girl that had thrown them into the water, he playfully added, "looks like you forgot your umbrella, too. Hope you don't mind wet clothes!" Good thing it was sunny out! They probably wouldn't freeze later, thanks to it! "Have to admit, swimming wasn't actually part of my plans right now!" Looks like it was happening anyway, though!
Waiting to see if Amy was going to get out of the water, or just spend the whole day there, the teen didn't make any move to leave until she would. Instead, he'd shift so that he could use a finger and flick water in her direction. "How about you? How've you been? Hunting aquatic monsters a lot?" Speaking of! "Do you normally just jump in and act like bait until you can lure them out? Because this seems like a terrible way to do things!" Teasing wasn't nice, when it was his fault -- in a way -- that they had taken a swim! He refused to take full responsibility for this, though!
This was probably the exact reason that Whiskers didn't come along for the adventure!

Had it been a good idea to pull Asher into the water, knowing that the chances of him losing his glasses weren't marginal? In hindsight, not the smartest thing to do, considering she'd be stuck with an almost-blind companion for the rest of her trip! Those weren't all that good at spotting rare digimons, in her experience.
Considering that there wasn't a single dry spot on her body, her companion making the best impression of a wet dog just next to her didn't manage to faze Amy. All that much, anyway; she couldn't say the same about his laughter, however. In a sense, it was contagious.
The brunette found herself giggling a bit before the redhead finally began speaking. "It's good to see you're doing okay! I checked the forecast before coming, and everything pointed at a sunny day, but I guess that you can be mistaken every now and then, don't you think? Some rain won't hurt anybody, probably!"
She shook her head sadly at the mention of an umbrella. How could've she been so forgetful! A true tragedy, indeed.
"I have a feeling this day will be about adapting to unexpected situations." she added, smirking a bit. "Good thing that the first unexpected event wasn't that bad, was it? Swimming feels nice, and I haven't heard of wet clothes killing anybody... yet, at least?"
Getting water flicked in her direction was something that hadn't been done to Amy since... she was a kid, more or less; while the gesture prompted a small smile from her, the brunette thought a bit about the questions asked to her before getting to answer.
"Been pretty well! School and Digital World stuff can be taxing at times, but I still have time to hang out with friends every now and then, you know?" Sarcasm wasn't lost to Amelie, that was for sure! "Aquatic monsters didn't happen all that much, even though I was in a race of sorts that involved a lot of them. It was an interesting experience, for sure."
Speaking of which... "Do I look like an angler fish to you? I'm not the type that'd lure others like that! It's kinda cheap to play bait." Even if Amelie was faking a pout at the moment, her words were true! Unless yellow tangs from alternate universes were involved, anyway.
As refreshing as their chat was at the moment, the duo wouldn't get anything done if they stayed in the water. Nonchalantly, the brunette swam back to the shore, then tried to get at least some of the water out of her hair and clothes. Hoping that Asher would do the same, once they were more or less presentable, a keychain was thrown at his direction; attached to it were a car's key and an oddly-shaped fidget toy.
"Since Mister I-Don't-Have-Enough-Time-To-Hang-With-You-Anymore has finally decided to show up, why don't you tell me what you've been up to all this time while you drive us to the island we're supposed to go? If you know how to drive, that is!" That sentence was probably a bit accusing, but rightfully so!
After a bit of fiddling, Amy got her car out of her digivice, and, unceremoniously, took the passenger's seat.
Time for a small trip!

It was definitely lucky that Asher hadn't lost his glasses! Luckily, the teen was well aware of the dangers of being a blind person, and generally carried contacts in a worst-case scenario for trips to the Digital World. After all, it wasn't a safe place, and the risk of things falling or breaking seemed to be pretty high. He was pretty surprised he hadn't already at least damaged his glasses by now!
Luckily, Amy was laughing along with the conversation. It would have been terrible to upset her so early on! Even if it was her fault that they took a swim so early on! "Probably!" Asher teased, echoing the word back as Amy spoke. Unless they were the Wicked Witch of the West, of course! But, this would probably be a witch's worst nightmare if that was the case!
Adaptations was pretty obvious, considering they were already adapting to the water right now! "I sure hope wet clothes doesn't kill anyone, ever," the redhead snickered. Wouldn't that be terrible? 'Oh no, I died because it rained and my clothes got wet,' sounded like the worst afterlife explanation ever!
While it was terribly tempting to properly splash Amy, the redhead resisted such a mean act, instead letting her think on how she would reply to him. But, as soon as her first sentence was uttered -- and clearly direct at him -- yellow eyes flashed to the side, and then looked up at the sky to feign innocence. "Wha~t?" He questioned, tone pitching up to make it obvious that he was pretending not to understand the jab. The race sounded interesting, though! Looking back to the brunette, he had to find out an important detail. "Did you win?" Probably not, considering she didn't say anything about it. But who knew?
"I don't know," the teen began again, after the Angler Fish bit. "You lured me onto a dock just to throw me in the water! I think that sounds like you've had some practice baiting people!" Okay, so that wasn't how things really happened, but Asher was apparently willing to twist the situation to his favor! Because he was so innocent! Just like yellow tangs!
But, as soon as he saw Amelie returning to the shore, he was quick to follow. While wet clothes might not be deadly, they weren't necessarily fun! Once on dry land, the teen would wring out the bottom of his shirt, debating on if was awkward to outright remove it to get the water out. While he debated, he tried to squeeze water out of any baggy enough part of his clothing that he was able to do so. The debate ended after he had dried enough that keys were thrown at him. Fumbling a bit, the redhead still managed to catch the item, only uttering, "uh?" while holding the item.
A slight blush powdered the actor's face at being called out for being terrible at spending time with the girl. Instead of acknowledging the first bit, the young man picked a better point of expertise. "I definitely know how to drive," he chuckled. When about to inquire about the car that he was supposed to drive, one popped up from Amy's playing with her digivice! Well, that seemed like a convenient feature! Normally, the spirit user just took to flying with his wings! Not driving a car!
It was a pretty nice looking car, at that.
Eyebrow raised, seeing the girl get into the passenger seat. Soon, he'd sit in the driver's seat, throwing a curious glance. "Why am I the one driving, anyway?" Weren't people concerned about letting other people drive their things? Especially when Amy didn't have any prior knowledge of his driving skills! Still, he'd start the vehicle up using the key that she had provided. "Do you have directions for where we're going?" The sky certainly made navigating a lot different than it was on the ground! He wasn't positive where they were headed from this angle!
Once everything was set, and he knew where they were headed, he'd be able to begin their trip!
But, he had still left some of her 'demand' to be acknowledged after she'd tell him where they were headed. Fingers tapped on the steering wheel, trying to think of anything that Amy might find interesting. "For what I've been doing, though. School, work, Digital World," he started, with the predictable answers that Amy had mostly used also. "A friend started up a team to help the Digital World. So, I recently became part of that, too."
It seemed like a just enough cause, after all. And, Asher found helping others to be a pretty nice gesture.
Eyes shifted, looking at the scenery outside of the windshield of the vehicle. There was something else he needed to at least somewhat address, wasn't there? "Also, I meant to ask you to do something sooner, but," the redhead trailed off for a second. But, what? What kind of excuse was sufficient here? "I wasn't sure what to suggest." Terrible excuse, really. Was it the one he was going to stick with?
It seemed so! Would Amy accept that as a valid reason?

Over the months, Amelie had concluded on Asher being an undoubtedly... weird guy. Or maybe he just wasn't, and she just insisted on trying to find a logical explanation for his antics.
She preferred to not think about it at the moment, but... sometimes, it just felt like a waste of time. Deciding to just roll her eyes at him playing dumb, the brunette decided to divert her focus to happier topics; like the race! Interestingly enough, and even if she had found herself in that situation by mere chance, that event was among her fondest memories, at least on recent times.
A happy smile managed to grace Amy's face. "Yup! The team I was part of ended up winning the whole thing, and I even wrote a news article about it." Maybe she had missed another detail? The girl couldn't quite remember if she had told Asher about it. "But I told you about the whole becoming a freelance journalist of sorts. So no need to go back on that!"
Deep in thought for five seconds or so, she pondered on whether it was worth it not to reply at her being compared to an angler fish. For a moment, she considered on formulating a serious answer, but in the end... Amy decided she wasn't falling for Asher's words. She was better than that!
"Darn. You discovered me." She found herself smirking at the description. "I thought that, if being sweet on our blind slash first date concluded on you not wanting to hang out for literal months, you'd rather like me more if I turned into an ugly fish with disproportionately big teeth. It's what any reasonable person would do, don't you think?"
Brilliant comeback. The brunette would pat herself in the back if she could!
With any luck, those mostly teasing remarks wouldn't turn into a true argument! Especially considering that Asher was now the designated driver; that'd be a bit problematic! Hopefully, he'd decide that getting worked up about that wasn't worth it, or he'd just react awkwardly like he'd been doing thus far. Who knows!
Why would be the one driving? That was a simple question, that would get a simple answer in return. "I've always wanted a chauffeur. And it seems like you work for free." The brunette responded as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "You didn't object, so here we are."
And, in regards to the second question? Gently tapping into the car's main, the maps with the necessary directions were loaded right in front of the redhead's eyes. "That'll do the trick. Think you can follow the maps?"
Without a hitch, their trip began and the car took to the skies. Amelie herself sat in a comfortable position, watching the clear afternoon sky before them; it was a very pretty and relaxing sight, especially when coupled by her driver's words.
"Hope both school and work have been going well." She remarked, sincerely. When mixed, both could be extremely exhausting; heck, Amelie already had her plate full just with school and the Digital World. Adding work on top of that would definitely overwhelm her. Her interest was piqued at the mention of a team, though! "That's interesting! Do you have a name already? Tell me all the details!"
A very curious person, even though her disposition became notably sourer in the face of what seemed, and most likely was a cheap excuse. Not being sure on what to suggest? Amy sighed again, even though, this time she wasn't really relaxed.
In fact, she felt a bit tense.
"It's fine. I understand." A nod belied a somewhat... disappointed countenance. "You know I'm not an obligation, right? Just because we dated once, it doesn't mean you have to bear with me if you don't want to. I know I can get annoying at times, but I understand the meaning of the word no. You can be sure of that much."
Whether that was a demand for a concise answer for a change or something else, that much wasn't exactly clear. For now, it was just the fact that those words had accomplished to make her... feel like a burden, for the lack of a better word.

The race was definitely a better topic to spend time on. And Amy seemed pretty happy about the outcome, too! Her smile seemed contagious, as Asher mirrored it. "That's great!" For being such an inconsiderate 'jerk' sometimes, he could certainly seem genuinely supportive. What a contradiction. "What kind of team were you with, though?" Was it just for the competition? Were they all Digimon?
It seemed that Asher wasn't actually aware of Amy's biggest project! The journalist bit was no surprise, of course! Considering he knew that they were here for that exact purpose! "I bet the journalism works even better when you win the race the article's on," he chuckled. Narratives had a tendency of being better when they were from the winner's side. Then again, winners were often the ones who wrote history, too! Perhaps, that was why people were so fond of reading from the perspective of someone who wins in the end. Or of heroes.
But, Amy knew how to leave Asher speechless. The actor simply stared at her comment on becoming an ugly angler fish. After several moments, he began to blink as if someone had dazed him by flashing bright lights in his face. Wow. What was there even to say about that? "You're too pretty to be an angler fish," he responded, voice strangely deadpan. Oh, yeah, she had thrown him off! It was probably obvious with the tone he used! "I think angler fish are pretty cool. But, I was comparing you more to their lure. Fish think they look pretty nice, you know," he teased, trying to bounce back as quickly as he could, "you're not hunting fish, though. Human Angler?" Asher wasn't saving himself here. But, at least he was more prepared in the case she tried to spin this angler fish thing back onto him!
As far as working for free? Well, that was hard to say. But, Asher wasn't going to argue it. After all, any excuse to drive a fancy car would be a good enough one! "You can't think I'd ever object to driving something like this, right?" The actor smiled, making a gesture at the vehicle. "I find driving relaxing, anyway." It was hard to drive around Shibuya some days, however, so it was a bit less relaxing since moving to the area. Looking to the map, he gave a nod, "I might be able to handle it." And by 'might' he meant definitely. But there had to be a bit of modesty right?
"They're going pretty well. I think I'm going to have to reduce my hours at work," he admitted, lightly, keeping eyes focused ahead. "I don't really need a job right now," he started, with a small hum, "but I like working there, with people." Did Amy understand that feeling? Was she much of a people-person? "But with everything else going on, it's getting hard to balance." Maybe it was weird to hear such a human answer from the redhead. Eyes flickered to glance at Amy, giving a smile, "and it's just kind of playing in a cafe. Doesn't make sense to spend too much time there."
Was he legitimately considering quitting his job? It almost sounded like it! Perhaps, he had actually been busy!
It was a little surprising at how interested Amy was in the team he had joined, though! Clicking his tongue to the roof of his mouth, the redhead mulled over the name of the team. What was it again? "Knights of--- uh," the was a pause, staring t the sky. "You know, I'm really bad at names," he admitted, with a laugh. "I think it's Knights of the Rose." Lips remained in a smile, "but that sounds a little cheesy, doesn't it?" What was more cheesy was forgetting the name of the team he was on! "It's for protecting people. Digimon. Pretty typical to the whole 'knight' name," he hummed. It was how he remembered the 'knights' part! "Think I'd make a good knight?" While it was a joke, he probably shouldn't be asking the girl that he shrugged off for literal months!
Especially when she responded to his excuse in the way that she had. Chest tightened, while fingers anxiously tapped the steering wheel. Biting down on his tongue, the redhead had to remind himself to breathe. And to focus on the 'road' and not on Amy. Yellow eyes remained fixed forward, an audible hiss of air escaping from his lips as he tried to process how to react to the situation he was in. Was it lucky, or absolutely unlucky, that they were trapped in this car together right now? There really wasn't an available escape. "I--" Mouth snapped shut, biting down on his lip. It was obvious that he had messed up.
Don't panic.
"I know." He finally stated, after another second had passed. Hand lifted to adjust his glasses, trying to think of some way to either buy time or avoid someone feeling uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the actor wasn't that good at impromptu when under this sort of pressure! "Don't call yourself annoying," he breathed, barely spoken above a mumble. Even an idiot would be able to tell that they had offended the brunette! "And, I never said no."
But, it was implied, wasn't it? He had never even asked to spend time with her as friends. It was easy enough to come to the conclusion that she had!
Anyone would have come to that conclusion by now, really. "I'm-- sorry if that's how you took it." Asher started, trying to sort out his thoughts, rapidly. Unfortunately, it wasn't much of a subject that he could eloquently approach in a crunch. "Look," he winced a bit, as if expecting some sort of backlash, "if you want to have this conversation right now, we can. But I can't take back what I'm going to say, and you're stuck in a flying car with me."
Pause.
"Keeping that in mind. Do you want me to talk about it?"

At least the duo had decided to converge on a topic both of them had found more or less enjoyable! The race, even if a very peculiar chain of events, was something that Amy saw as a great experience. Even though... she wasn't sure on if she wanted to repeat it or not.
Asher displaying so much genuine interest about it managed to surprise her greatly. Would the brunette ever be able to truly figure him out? That seemed so unlikely at times. "Our team was... a girl around my age named Katherine, her partner, a Lopmon named Jazz, a Candlemon named Liquid and me." She made a small pause, chuckling at her own words. "Don't ask why the Candlemon's named Liquid, I don't really know; we met by chance on Whitewater and decided to participate on the whole thing. I haven't gotten to see any of them again, but I'd like to think that at least we're friendly acquaintances?"
That was an... interesting term, wasn't it? Its meaning was rather nebulous, yet somehow lukewarm and pleasant. All while managing to show a notable lack of compromise; those were little more than idle thoughts, however. Deciding to focus on the situation at hand, she found herself in the receiving end of a compliment. It always threw her off-balance; how he could do something like that so casually.
As confusing as it got. "Anglerfish are weird. Did you know that the ugly ones with lots of teeth are the females? The males are very small and weak, and depend on finding a female for survival. If you can call it survival, that is." She wasn't delving too much in the matter, that was for sure! "So, I'm an anglerfish lure, huh? Except I'm supposed to attract... people? Interesting. Who knows! Maybe you're not mistaken."
Considering how quickly her city was taking off, and how it was supposed to be located in the darkest bowels of the Digital World, the description was somewhat fitting. With her mood somewhat improving, the teenager made a mental note regarding that; she hadn't told Asher about Deeplane, if her memory served her right.
For now, they seemed to be a bit busy; naturally, Amelie smirked at her companion saying he didn't mind driving the vehicle when necessary. That was a good sign! "That's a true chauffeur's attitude if I've seen it!" Her tone became surprisingly light. "You can drive as much as you want. I see the whole deal as a necessary hassle to save time, so... be my guest."
In all honesty, if Amy could get around with her own two feet and go where she wanted within a reasonable timeframe, the car would be collecting dust somewhere. But, obviously, reality couldn't be more different. At least Asher had gotten used to driving the car with relative ease; that was a good thing!
Work seemed like a tricky matter for the redhead; something he did because he actually enjoyed it, rather than necessity. That was a pretty cool mindset, even though that kinda... clashed with his plans regarding that. "I've never seen somebody contradict themselves so quickly. I trust you on taking the best decision for your personal growth, but progressively abandoning an activity you enjoy doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Besides, I've still got to visit you at your job. Don't even consider on quitting before I get to do that, okay?"
Ah, the Knights of the Rose once again? That group definitely was picking up steam. Not to say that K seemed to have a pretty keen eye on potential members! "I've heard about it. The group, I mean; K's in charge, isn't she? I've talked to one of their members in the past; a guy named Luke. Maybe it rings a bell? But, you're right; I told him that the name sounds corny as hell, and I still stand for that statement."
Giggling a bit at her own remark, she stopped only to consider the redhead's question; the brunette knew it was most likely a joke, but she still wanted to answer it seriously. "I think you'd be if you take the responsibility seriously. It'll be a daunting task, but I don't have any reason to doubt on your ability to be a fine knight."
Had Amy's statement regarding how she felt been... too much? It didn't take a genius to sense the distress Asher was feeling at the moment, and for a second, she even considered on apologizing and proposing to forget about the whole event, but settled on standing by what she had said. After all, those words had been exactly how she felt. Would they change the way their undoubtedly weird friendship worked? Most likely, but... Amelie felt like she needed answers, and that the potential price she would pay in order to get them was acceptable, all things considered.
She remained silent, slow breaths being the only sound her body managed to emit as she listened to what the teenager had to say. At plain sight, it just looked like a garbled collection of what sounded like more excuses and a desperate attempt to get more time in order to think properly. For a second, the teenager wondered why he was trying to this extent, but she finally settled on not wanting to know. This whole ordeal was already way too taxing as it was.
The only emotions that coursed her mind were a mix of sadness and disappointment. Deciding that she wanted to hear something that actually made sense, she heaved another deep sigh, before finally nodding.
"I'd like to, yes." She responded, not bothering to deal with anything he had said before the actual question. "You'd have to outdo yourself for me to feel even worse than how I do at the moment, so I doubt there's a lot for me to lose."
Maybe she was being unfairly harsh with him, but... that didn't make her words any less true. "I'm listening. What do you have to say?"
Why was Amy insisting on feeling hopeful? This was dumb.

Liquid, the Candlemon. Sounded like a solid name. "Well, hopefully your candle friend hasn't melted or something," Asher snickered, raising an eyebrow. Digimon could have such weird names sometime! But, hey, if a melty candle helped her win a race, it didn't sound too bad! "Sounds like you make a lot of friends," he hummed, thoughtfully. Amy came off as the type of person that was pretty good at meeting new people. Or, maybe Asher was just bad at meeting people. It wasn't a coin toss.
Why didn't it surprise Asher that female Angler Fish were the terrifying ones, though? "I'll pass on being an angler fish, then," the redhead pointed out, smiling. It seemed that he had succeeded at keeping Amy off of the topic of his avoidance of her for now! Though, his earlier statement about her making friends only seemed to carry over to being an Angler Lure. Funny how that worked! "But now that you said you might be one, you can't be upset that I called you a lure!" Oh, yes she could! Asher clearly didn't understand the mentality of a woman!
But he could definitely get behind the mentality of letting him drive! He'd wait until he was inside the car to point out, "you know I turn into a giant bird that could have flown us there, right?" The actor flashed a cocky smile, obviously waiting until it was far too late for them to switch modes of transportation! They were already moving now! "I kind of want one of these now, though," he added, throwing a glance around the interior of the vehicle.
As far as his job went, it was strange to hear Amy's opinion on it. Maybe because he didn't voice his thoughts on it to many people! Or, anyone, really! "What can I say? I'm great at being a contradiction," he hummed, thoughtfully. It was true that leaving someplace he enjoyed was probably a bad idea. Perhaps, he'd have to consider it more. Though, her final demand on the subject could only make him laugh. "Fine, Princess," he grinned, using the term that his job referred to their female guests with. "I'll text you my work schedule sometime. So you can know when to visit." How thoughtful! Or, strange. Then, Amy would have access to all of the days he wasn't at work, too!
Onto a different topic, for the time being, though...
It was a little surprising to hear that Amy already knew about his team, though! And members/leaders in it, too! "Yeah. I've known K since," there was a pause, as the teen tried to think. "I think around the time we met. At the park." That seemed like a good enough way to judge things! It might have been a little afterward, but he wasn't going to bother going too deep into details! "Luke?" Head tilted, trying to place the name to a face. But, no face came to mind. Why was it so familiar?
Oh. Right. K had mentioned him. "I haven't met Luke yet. He joined before I did, though. So we'll probably have to meet soon. I think." After all! It wasn't much of a team if nobody knew anyone else! Corny name or not, Asher still approved of what the group stood for, though!
He didn't expect such a serious response about being a knight, though! "Believe it or not! I can take things seriously!" Soon, she'd surely believe it. "Wonder if I can get a reflective outfit. Knight in shining armor," he joked, to give one more hint of playfulness before the seriousness would come to light.
And, when it had, and Amy had responded, the first thing Asher could do was give a heavy exhale. "Right." He owed her that, didn't he? It seemed like he had seriously upset the brunette. That had never been his intent! "I hope it doesn't make you feel worse about yourself," he added, with a weak chuckle.
Suddenly, the redhead was painfully aware that the inside of a car was really just a large box. And, suddenly, he was feeling like it was a little too cramped. That was unfortunate. Reaching out, he'd adjust the air conditioning in the car to a slightly cooler setting, in some attempt to avoid becoming panicked from his sudden assessment. Normally, vehicles weren't a problem. He had to face the fact that this subject was just making him find reasons to become distressed!
"It's probably going to sound dumb, no matter how I say it," he prefaced. Surely, there would be no excuse in the book that could console Amy. And, that was why he was going to just... tell the truth. What was the worst that could happen?
He'd rather not think about it, actually.
"I'm not really great at -- I guess -- 'letting people in' or," he paused, still seeming to try to gather his thoughts, "whatever people want to call it." Surely, that was a given, considering how a lot of conversations between the two was relentless teasing! He was trying his best right now. Hopefully, Amy would realize that, and wouldn't completely shut down this terrible attempt at rationalizing something!
Just like this conversation stressed him out! But, that wasn't stopping him! "The day after our date, I wanted to ask you--" A hand lifted off the steering wheel, to rub the back of his neck. This all sounded awful. "--And it kind of clicked. And I panicked. By the time I realized my problem, it felt tacky to ask about your current dating life."
For a second, eyes shifted from the windshield to look at Amy again. "They're still bad excuses, I guess." There was no skirting that most people wouldn't establish this as a legitimate concern for the actor. What actor was afraid of letting people be close to them? "I never meant to make you feel bad about it." Deep breath.
Eyes returned to the sky, while his hand moved from the back of his neck to cover his mouth. "I'm--" There really wasn't turning back from this. Up until this point, he was capable of twisting his words to save himself if he needed. If he finished stating this thought, it was acknowledging something that his mindset wanted to stay buried. If he didn't acknowledge it, it couldn't hurt him, right? Feelings couldn't hurt anyone unless they accepted that they were real. Yet, here he was.
"I'm really fond of you. And, I'm trying not to mess things up more."
Even though admitting that, alone, was probably enough to ruin anything he'd already worked toward, if that was what Amy decided. Be it their friendship, or anything else. The metaphorical ball wasn't even in her court now. He had basically set it in her hand.

Amelie giggled and waved her hand dismissively at the notion of Liquid melting. "Guy was as quirky as they come, but we made it out alive. Else I wouldn't be here, I think." After a pause, the girl pondered Asher's next question for a bit. Was... she? "Do you think I am? I've only made one close friend since moving to Japan, and sometimes I think she only hangs out with me to borrow my class notes and slash or money."
That last statement was made jokingly, even though there was no denying on Kanae being an utter mess of a person. How she managed to function as a human being was something that the brunette pondered every now and then. There was no doubt on her heart was in the right place, however.
Being completely honest with herself, Asher's reasoning on Anglerfishes was as weird as it could, yet... she decided to let go of it for now. No point on insisting for now, probably. It wasn't a topic she'd let pass so easily, but souring the whole gathering while they were still in water didn't seem like a sensible course of action. Waiting a bit seemed like the smart thing to do.
Because forcing somebody into what would be a very awkward situation was a smart thing to do, right?
Just like... the whole deal with Asher using his bird form to carry the brunette around. Guess it was time for Amy to... reveal a small secret? "Well..." Pink was already making a presence in her cheeks. "I'm actually..."
Darn, she couldn't bring herself to be straightforward with it, no matter how much she tried. After a sigh, the girl tried to recompose herself. "I'm afraid of heights." Sure, it probably wasn't a big deal overall, but it was for her! "It's not as bad in the car because I can't see what's below and... being inside what amounts to a flying can kinda makes me feel safer than up high, feeling the wind on my face and that stuff."
There, said it. With any luck, Asher wouldn't think less of her for that silly fear. On the other side, it made her feel a bit better about herself in regards to how she was technically flying at the moment and didn't feel any ill effects. Besides embarrassment, of course! "I got mine at Rustport. There's a car shop there that has some really nice models. We could go there and pick one for you someday if you feel like it."
It could be a nice plan for the future, if anything! Just like visiting Asher on his job, or being called... princess. Even if it was part of the guy's job, it just sounded a bit awkward and somewhat embarrassing to her. "You can probably eschew the title if you want to. A complete schedule isn't necessary, but it's not like I'll complain if you still want to do that."
Was the constant teasing managing to keep the brunette's personality somewhat subdued? Maybe, or maybe she had her mind elsewhere. It was hard to know, given how the conversation managed to go back and forth, wildly change its topics and shift from relaxed to... well, not-so relaxed.
"K's a really interesting digimon." She remarked. It was true that she hadn't seen the Shutmon since a fair bit of time, but considering how fast she managed to grow, the logical thing to guess was that she had reached super mega by now. Or maybe an even higher level, if that was possible? "I would've considered joining, but I feel like I'm not a very knightly person. Hope everything goes well, though! I think it's a pretty cool idea. This world definitely needs all the help it can get."
Humming in approval, Amelie seemed thoughtful for a second. "Luke's a nice guy; I think you'll get along. His digimon partner is very interesting, too! He looks like a werewolf of sorts. Not a surprise he gets along well with K." Funnily enough, she had just stumbled upon the thought. Maybe weird anthropomorphic wolves had a knack for knighthood? It seemed somewhat likely, at least!
Watching the team's progress would be an interesting activity, if anything. She had already gotten an invitation to their headquarters, and honestly? The brunette was looking forward to that; it'd be a good way to measure how serious the whole team was about their knightly endeavor.
Had Amy looked forward to the argument that unfolded right afterward? Unlikely, but still felt like a necessary step to take; going forward without certainty of how Asher felt towards her would only get progressively unbearable. Especially after the series of mixed messages she had been receiving.
She listened intently —yet silently— to everything he had to say. Even if the girl wasn't making a sound, her mind was racing with every word said, what they could actually mean, and what the whole message meant for them. Her expression seemed to be frozen in time, unchanging as the thin line her mouth had become, almost as if it had been forced shut.
Digesting everything proved to be a difficult task; once the redhead was done with his lengthy speech, yet another sigh escaped Amelie's throat. The whole situation seemed so complex, yet so simple at the same time. Maybe the way she would tackle this wasn't the correct course of action, but she figured that remaining silent would only make matters worse.
Gingerly, the brunette placed a hand on the steering wheel, right on top of Asher's. "I... understand." Despite the warm gesture, those words were erratic, almost dubious. Was that doubt directed at him? Or at something or somebody else? "Seems like I'm really straightforward on this kind of situations. I probably could have been a bit... softer, I guess? I'm not sure."
The hand remained in its position, unmoving. At times, it would almost seem like it wanted to squeeze Asher's, but decided against it at the last moment. Doubts swirled around Amy's mind; was it okay to risk even more on this situation? Getting hurt yet again wasn't the most enticing prospect.
"I'm glad that you decided to be sincere with me. I really appreciate it." Her voice shook a bit; was she getting emotional over this? At least outwardly, the teenager seemed to be doing a mighty effort to try and get a hold of herself. "However..."
Brace for impact? This was going to be a bit harsh, yet something more or less necessary for the teenager to move on.
"I can't really understand the underlying reason of why you did what you did. I know I'm most likely missing some pieces of the puzzle." Against her better judgment, the brunette finally squeezed the redhead's hand tightly, yet tenderly. "I won't pry further unless you want to talk about it, but... in regards to you not wanting to 'mess things up more'? I'll just say that actions speak way louder than words."
Funny how a small smile began to draw on Amy's face as her hand finally abandoned the steering wheel. "No offense, but your track record on the action department has been awful thus far. I guess you're lucky, though; just for this time, I'll overlook that."
Guess the girl wasn't that good at maintaining the solemn atmosphere, but if she was willing to forgive and move on, this much was probably a necessary coping mechanism. Once again, her body relaxed on the back of her seat; if the maps were correct, they were pretty much reaching their destination at the moment. "If you're wondering why, I guess it's because... I'm really fond of you too."

Only one close friend? That was hard to believe! "They don't need to be close," he pointed out. While the teen had considered fake-pouting and asking why he wasn't a close friend, he knew better than to open that can of worms. Angler Fish or not, there was no way he was going to walk straight into that conversation! "I guess they're all just 'friendly acquaintances' that you make?" Close enough. Friend. Freindly. Asher wasn't going to argue where the difference went when it came to an acquaintance!
"Money and class notes," he hummed, playfully, while shaking his head. "That sounds like the best kind of friendship you can have!" Who didn't want all that stuff? Luckily, he could pick up on the joke before anyone might find it a concerning statement.
Just like some people might find it concerning that Amy was afraid of heights. And yet not afraid of them when associating it with a flying can! But, Asher had no room to judge irrational fears. After all, comparing the car to a can definitely wasn't going to help his claustrophobia any! In fact... "A flying can," he repeated, slowly. Lips pressed tight to try not to laugh about the statement. Or to find a reason to panic about the idea that cans are small. Cars are small. And, thus, he was in something small. Windows were a lifesaver, there! "I get it," he answered after a second. There was no reason to make Amy feel awkward about her fears! "Everyone's afraid of something."
As far as getting his own flying can deathtrap? "I might take you up on that sometime," the redhead smiled. Would Whiskers approve of a car? Did cats like car rides? There was one way to find out! "No flying SmartCars, though." Those tiny clown-cars were just death waiting to happen. How they didn't blow away in the wind was beyond him, and he certainly wasn't willing to sit in one!
Surely, Amy wouldn't be driving this to the cafe though. That would be just strange, unless she really wanted to catch people's attention! Would she feel weird if he sent her his entire schedule? Maybe. It hadn't really crossed the teen's mind! For titles, though? Asher had a few more suggestions! "Not a fan of Princess?" A toying smile fell onto his face, as he placed a few extra suggestions. All of which he had been requested before. "What about Queen? Mistress? Honey?" People certainly got weird about their choice of names! "I usually just take pictures of the schedule anyway. Unless you don't want to know the whole thing," he shrugged. "If I tell you when I work, I expect you to visit me sometime, though!" Of course, that was the plan anyway!
For now, they were back to how Amy knew everyone in every world, ever. With her knowing both K and Luke! "She definitely is," he agreed. It was weird to think about having met her when she was only a rookie, considering her level now. "What? You? Not knightly?" Oh, here was more teasing. The best way to avoid having an upset Amy the whole trip! "You're probably more knightly than me!" Said the person who had just been talking about essentially having a tinfoil knight's outfit. Yes. Anyone would be more knightly than that!
"A werewolf, huh?" How did werewolf Digimon look? One could only wonder. But, the first thing that came to mind was, "Whiskers is going to be terrified of everyone on this team." Flashing a brief smile, he added, "she's terrified of dogs." Poor Whiskers! She could never catch a break! Fears seemed like a pretty notable topic today. From Amy's fear of heights, Whiskers fear of canines eating her, and now onto Asher's fear of taking anything seriously! Was it Amy's job to settle those fears? Or make them worse? Honestly, the answer was neither, yet both duties seemed to drop into her lap today!
Was it unsettling for the silence from her side of the vehicle? It was odd. But, probably necessary for Asher to ever finish this convoluted train of thought! And the sigh that broke that silence was enough to cause his chest to tighten again. Feeling a hand resting on top of his, the redhead resisted twitching in response. Yellow eyes remained forward, trying to avoid establishing if this was some sort of reaction of pity. Or, was it something else?
Best not to think on it until she'd fully answer.
Should she have been more gentle on the subject? Even if it hurt her feelings? While not wanting to interrupt her, he still gave a small shake of his head to disagree. Some things needed a direct approach. Especially considering the person she was speaking with!
Hearing the 'however' was enough to convince him that talking was probably the worst idea at the moment! There were plenty of mixed emotions, trying to understand just exactly where Amelie's mindset was at the moment. Especially feeling her squeeze his hand. For a moment, he shifted his gaze to look at it, debating on moving his hand to be able to reciprocate the gesture, but ultimately decided against it. And, when she'd retract the hand, he'd take a glance at her face before returning to focus on the 'road.'
Had he noticed a smile on the brunette's lips? It seemed like a strange time to be smiling.
Shifting the car to begin lowering it, it felt like everything stopped. Perfectly timed with bringing the vehicle to a descent, it seemed that Amy dropped something that made even Asher's thoughts silence.
Nothing ran through his mind, and everything was strangely light. There were no sounds from his Spirit, who would normally take advantage of such a moment of piece. It was almost like She didn't even want to interrupt this brief moment of realization. Should Asher have been surprised by this response?
Considering how he'd been acting, more than likely.
"...Yeah?" It seemed like the teen had to process it for a moment, voice a little airy. And then, a soft laugh, as he shook his head. "I'm kind of an idiot, huh?" Lips remained in a smile, an indication that this question wasn't a form of self pity. He was just admitting that he was dense!
Finishing landing the vehicle at the destination that the map had pointed out, Asher shifted in his seat to properly look at his passenger. "I don't really want to talk about the reasons I did it. Right now. But," clicking his tongue to the roof of his mouth, he continued, "someday, I promise I'll explain. I don't want to drop that kind of thing on you right now." Would Amy find this an acceptable compromise? She said she wouldn't press the subject, so surely this would sound reasonable. At least, in Asher's mind it did.
"The actions, I'll work on now. We can only work up from Wasabi Beer, you know?" Oh, don't even bring that up right now! Lifting a hand up, the redhead reached out to gently lift the brunette's braid. There was a thoughtful moment, before he'd brush it against her cheek if she hadn't already pulled away, flashing a playful smile. "Now, maybe you'll take me seriously when I say 'I'm cru~shing on the prettiest girl around.'"
Would she remember making him 'admit' to that? Or had Asher been the only one with enough memories of the night to recall it? It was a coin-toss, but it would surely make a funny reaction either way, regardless of if it jogged a memory!
Lowering her braid, the teen leaned away, putting a hand on his door, to open it. "We should probably find your monster, though. Hate for you to have to write your article on missing what you were here for, just because some guy kept harassing you in your car."

A small shrug was Amy's response. Yeah; not every friend needed to be of the close kind, even though those were the most likely ones to help you when you truly needed it of just saying they're busy or something. Ultimately, it wasn't a topic she wasn't too keen on. The bonds would happen when they would; rushing or forcing them probably would result in the opposite.
However, it wasn't like discussing the things that made her afraid was really a time she wanted to linger on for too long! Considering Asher's answer, he probably had fears of his own too, but Amy wasn't the type that would go around asking 'what are you afraid of?'. If he wanted to tell her about it, she'd listen. Anything more was undue.
On the other side, buying a new car would be a fun experience! Even if the brunette had gotten in an interesting adventure when buying her own, she couldn't complain about the results. It may be a bit materialistic, but... she really liked her car. "I mean, if it's gonna be your car, you should be the one deciding how it should look, don't you think? Whether you want something like mine or maybe a bigger or smaller model, that's entirely up to you."
Now, regarding his job? Those titles were a bit... embarrassing, in all honesty! Amelie knew they weren't said seriously, but she still couldn't avoid blushing a bit at them. "I won't be able to get something normal, will I? Amy would be just fine, or Miss if you insist on being formal due to work etiquette. Anything more seems either overkill or.. just plain weird."
She wasn't going to pretend she was somebody's queen, or honey. Or... 'mistress'? Talk about the employment of rather risky nicknames! "Just said I wasn't going to complain, and I stand for that statement!" A small smirk graced her lips. "And I kinda said I'd visit, didn't I? I've never backed down from a promise, so you can count on that."
It took every ounce of the girl's self-control to not guffaw at being called 'knightly'. Instead, she just laughed at the moniker. "I'd say that your theoretical knight outfit would be more apt to be a knight than me. But that's fine, I think! I'll try to help this world in my own way. One that not involves corny names or shiny clothes."
Being an archetypal cat was surely tough for Whiskers, considering how the Knights' leader fancied being the equivalent to an anthropomorphic canine! "Has Whiskers ever seen... K's Shutmon form? That sounds like something that'd terrify her, at the very least. Poor thing." Maybe the Meicoomon wasn't a true animal, and she hadn't even met her just yet, but if the girl had a weak point, that were 'pets'. No matter their form or shape.
Had it been a good idea to address this topic? Asher obviously wasn't comfortable with it, and even if Amy had given her best effort at conveying how she felt without sounding too harsh, her mind insisted on her attempt not being enough; those thoughts nagged at her mind, opening a pit inside her stomach. It wasn't until Asher responded that those doubts were eradicated from her mind.
Amelie smiled. That was definitely an answer worthy of the redhead. "Yeah. I'm glad that you were smart enough to recognize how much of an idiot you are, at least." Slowly, that smile began to transform into a smirk.
This was just how they were, weren't they? Some things would never change. Except maybe the two of them talking about what could be considered 'serious' topics more often. Something that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, to be honest!
"Won't repeat myself. I don't mind waiting. You being comfortable with the pace of... whatever we have here is what I care about the most at the moment." She remarked, a bit soothingly. "Pushing you for something that doesn't affect me directly would just make me look like an ass, and probably wouldn't end on a happy note for either of us. I don't know if anyone would want something like that."
Was it a bit too naive to think that things would change for the better from now on? Maybe, but it wasn't like the brunette cared about that. Especially when she thought it was kinda cute how he played with her hair, even if his intent had, ultimately, been to tease her.
"Huh. You took those words pretty seriously, didn't you? You know I wasn't being serious, right? Can't complain about the results, though; maybe I should start making more statements like those and see if they keep on working." Both non-serious and slightly inebriated, but she wasn't going to throw more fuel to the fire. At least that memory was more or less intact. Or that's what Amy would like to think!
Asher was right, however. The duo had to catch an elusive digimon! In tandem with him, the girl exited her car and proceeded to dismiss her back into her digivice; tracking a gigantic aquatic eel was going to be an interesting quest, considering they didn't have any clues, except for a rough location! Guess their best option, for now, was just... walking to the shore?
Unceremoniously, the girl began to tread in the sea's directions. "Yeah; harassing. Let's call it that." Taking a second to giggle at the comment, she let out another sigh; a confession was something she hadn't expected in the light of this situation. And while her feelings being requited made her happy, it had also brought its fair share of doubts. "It may be too soon to ask about it, but..." Prying further into it felt like something it could have mixed results, but Amy felt like she needed at least some elaboration regarding what had just happened! "Where does this leave us? Are we friends, or... something else?"
Maybe 'being in a relationship' was a bit too much at the moment, but... did the redhead really want to start dating? Being 'exclusive' and that stuff? Amelie wasn't sure, but she really wanted to find out.

Cars were definitely a sense of pride for some people! Asher was guilty of the same thing! He actually really missed his old car from the States! "Probably, but some people like to give opinions," he suggested. After all, opinions were why people usually brought along others for car shopping! Or for assistance paying for the vehicle. But, Asher really didn't need that sort of help. "Nothing much smaller than this, though," he hummed, falling back to their previous conversation, "I can't stand small spaces." Flashing a smile, he added, "the only reason I can even get in cars is because of the windows." Thankfully, cars really needed windows to actually be functional and legal! Otherwise, he would never go near another car again!
Soon, he'd give a fake pout, and huff. No fun names? That was actually fine by him. "I guess I'll just call you Miss. Or Amy. If you really want." Maybe a normal table would be a refreshing experience. Unless Amy became a nightmare to deal with as a guest. But, he doubted that! If only they had phone reception right now! And he wasn't driving while thinking about it! He'd just send Amelie a picture of his schedule right now! 'Alas', he was stuck playing chauffeur in this really nice car!
He could talk about really nice, shiny clothes, though! "Maybe you could still have shiny clothes. Don't they make sequin dresses, or something?" While it was a funny thought, he had to admit that Amy might look cute in a black, sequin dress! Then again, unless she was in a weird Fast Food Mascot costume, he'd probably think that. ...Or he'd think that even if she was. It was really hard to say for sure, but he didn't really want to imagine Amy The Hotdog or anything remotely similar!
"Oh! Yeah!" Amy's concern was more than valid for Whiskers' fears! "She wouldn't go anywhere near K, until K turned into... some sort of big cat." Digimon names definitely weren't Asher's forte. And Meicrackmons definitely weren't part of his interests! It was just another cat monster! Hopefully, Whiskers would never turn into the same thing. That would be awkward. "I'm not really sure if Whiskers will ever trust K when she's not a cat, though." Probably not. With K even having a dog in her lines, it was hard to say where Whiskers' trust would stand on the Digimon as a whole. She seemed alright with her as long as she was Meicrackmon, though!
But right now? The focus wasn't on the fears of anyone else. Was it even really on Asher's fears, anymore? Hearing Amy acknowledge that he was dumb, the redhead could only laugh. He wanted to pretend to be offended at her agreement! But he just couldn't! Perhaps, he was relaxing too much, considering how much pressure had originally been placed on him! And, he was definitely glad that Amy was fine with waiting for his story on underlying reasons to be an ass.
Her words did remind him, however, that they were not establishing what they were. Friends? More? A topic to worry about later.
For now, teasing was the main goal. "Hmm," the ex-actor hummed, thoughtfully. "I'm pretty sure I've been calling you pretty since we met," he pointed out, with a smile. "Has to make you wonder when I'm serious, doesn't it?" It was always a wonder when Asher was serious. He had this interesting way of mixing jokes and legitimate statements together, to leave it impossible to distinguish which was which! In this case, though? He was going to take advantage of past words, regardless of what their original intent had been.
After all, it wasn't like he'd have called her pretty if he hadn't thought so to begin with!
Once the car had been exited, and then shuffled off to who-knows-where, Asher would offer Amy's keys back to her, before they began their adventure toward the water. He wasn't entirely sure what they would be looking for, but it had to be somewhere, right? Be it clues, or a giant eel monster!
It sounded like the brunette wanted to find something else, too. Even if it was just an answer to a question, that she was seeking. Too soon? He couldn't say that he wasn't expecting the question. They were going to have to talk about it, or it would even drive him crazy over time!
Changing his pace so that he could walk alongside the girl, he'd brush his hand against the back of her's. "Depends," he answered, in a less-than-straightforward manner. But, that was probably expected by now. Less expected was probably a more straightforward explanation. "I know I hurt your feelings by avoiding you. So, I don't want to ask too much." But, what was considered too much? "I'd like to take you on a date, at least." That was about as straightforward as he could get! There was a tightness again. Would the nerves ever settle when discussing this sort of thing? "If you're interested, we can do that before really thinking about it. But," hesitance, "I think an actual relationship sounds... nice."

Amy nodded at Asher's remarks about cars. They were interesting machines, for sure; especially considering that both had their own reasons behind using them, and that those were so different!
"I mean, if you want my input, I can give it. No issue over here." A small smile took over her face; her own taste in cars wasn't overly specific or fancy, but she wasn't refusing the chance. On a different, but not less important note, his confession of sorts was somewhat important, despite the fact that it had been expressed so casually. The brunette made a mental note of it. Getting him in cramped spaces equaled to a very bad idea from now on. Unless the place had windows.
At least Amelie had gotten the redhead to not call her any weird or creepy nicknames. In all honesty, she couldn't possibly imagine anyone calling her mistress in a legitimate, non-teasing way; it was a relief for the topic to end right there!
What about shiny clothes, though? She had to admit, Asher's taste on them was very, very interesting. For a second, the usually plainly clothed brunette imagined herself donning a fancy dress, and couldn't help but to blush at the notion bit. "Yeah, those exist." Amy said, barely concealing how she felt about it. "Do you think I'd look good in one of those? Aren't they a little too shiny? I don't know."
Being nervous about flashy clothes was natural, after all! What if they didn't look well on her? She'd just catch everyone's attention and they'd laugh at her. That'd be nothing short of an utter disaster.
Whiskers was definitely an interesting individual, though; just as K! How she could trust or stop trusting somebody based off how much they resembled a cat was something extremely intriguing, yet kinda weird at the same time. Did it matter if a being's form changed, but their personality didn't? Was Whiskers aware of that and was a prisoner of her instincts, or fully embraced them? Those were questions without an answer just yet! And not something she was willing to ask for the time being.
It was a relief that, overall, everything had finished more or less well. Was well even the right word? And an exchange of sentiments that could only be described as... completely unexpected ended in their current situation. But that was ultimately a good thing, wasn't it? He liked her; she liked him. Some doubts remained, but Amelie hoped that things would work out eventually.
"Did you know that, despite your ability to be extremely annoying almost all the time, you can be really sweet every now and then?" A half smile, half smirk was the expression currently sneaking into Amy's face. At least on that regard, his attempt at teasing her had failed kinda completely. "I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd almost say it's part of your charm."
By now, it was obvious that she mostly didn't mind any of this. The reason for this sudden... outburst —for the lack of a better word—, had been Asher's half-hearted attempt at keeping her away while still insisting in their 'friendship'. Their combined antics had never been an issue, as far as she was concerned. "You can keep on calling me pretty, though! It has a nice ring to it."
For all what she knew, no girl disliked that compliment in particular!
A short while after retrieving her keys and while they were on their walk towards the sea; another question was posed by her; what she felt was the natural follow-up to their first statements. She had withstood doubt for enough time, and while this time the answers would reach her fairly sooner than the last, they were no less interesting.
Amelie had to admit that despite Asher's reluctance to 'let people in', as he liked to call it, the guy really knew how to display affection in a way that made her feel special. Could she really remain pissed at him for long like this? Good question!
In a quick gesture, the brunette's hand took the redhead's. "That sounds like a good plan to me. There's a condition on my side, though." Just as swiftly, the hold loosened and her body spun, the two humans being face to face now. A small grin was the teenager's expression, her gaze boring directly into Asher's eyes.
"Dating is a good first step, but!" Unceremoniously, she leaned in, close enough for her breath to caress the redhead's ear as she softly whispered into it. "You're gonna need way more than that if you want to be my boyfriend. After what happened the last couple of months, I won't let you go so easily..."
Another sudden motion, and her back was now facing his. In an instant, Amy had disengaged and had beginning to run in the shore's direction! "Sides, you can't have a date with me if you can't catch me first!"
Her trip to the shore would have otherwise been quick, if it weren't for the fact that Amelie, in a moment that anybody would've missed if they did so much as blinking, disappeared without leaving a trace. If anyone came closer to that spot, and stepped carefully, they'd notice that the sand was notably loose there, almost as if it were quicksand... or a trap.
