Personality:
Yomi has a set of personalities, which she uses depending on the situation she's in. No individual has one personality, as our behavior changes based on the circumstances. One would not talk to a teacher the same way she talks to a school buddy. The girl acts just like that, using many masks. With adults and people she considers her seniors, she is very respectful, even a bit coy, and makes herself sound unsure, as if inquiring validation from them.
With peers and friends, she is typically a no-nonsense kind of girl. Usually the first to fade to the background when coupled with more colorful personalities, but frequently the only one with her mind on the objective. Yomi is surprisingly organized and is capable of coming up with plans and directing others towards a common goal, when all cohesion is lost. With people she doesn't like, or who annoy her, Yomi is loud and bashful, and is known for hitting people with her schoolbag.
These are all masks, however, which the real Yomi tries on to fit better into the surrounding environment. Behind them, the girl is a very self-conscious individual. She feels herself to be thoroughly mediocre in just about anything. She is not bad, persay, but not good either. Smart, but not a genius, sporty, but not an athlete. Not even loud and obnoxious enough to set her aside. A good friend, sure, but not the 'loyal to the death' type that is being written about in books. Studying in an average school, then probably graduating and going to an average Uni, and then ending up as a bank accountant. The future already laid out for her.
In her spare time, when not out with friends, Yomi plays computer games, and participates in the local drama club. These two activities have nothing in common besides allowing her to be someone else. Whether a dashing hero or a main heroine of a play, it helps her escape the normalsy of her life and be something she could never be in Shibuya.
At the same time, Yomi surrounded herself with plenty of friends she considers amazing in one way or another. Be that strength, sports, intelligence, imagination, or even loudness and the ability to cause trouble, she finds them to be interesting and so much better than her. Secretly envying them for who they were. And mimicking parts of their personalities on stage.
The girl is no hero and would rather flee than fight. Her coping reactions to stress are freezing and panicking at first, but if the dire situation persists, Yomi clings to her habits and maintaining an illusion of normality. It allows her to make relatively decent and well-thought decisions, so long there is time to think. Yomi enjoys games of logic, particularly chess. It is one of the few things she truly excels at. But, in her opinion, it's not enough to put her beyond normality. Won the Shubiya tournament for girls at age 14.
Appearance:
At school, the girl wears your typical school uniform, consisting of orange and red hues for winter and autumn, and white-blue colors for summer. The outfit consists of a shirt, a skirt, shoes, and black stockings, which cover her legs completely and are worn mostly for fashion. Out of class, Yomi has a leather jacket she likes to wear, and switches out of the skirt for jeans. She also wears a thick woolen sweater of blue color when the weather gets cold.
Yomi has a toned, slightly curvy build, and is of average height for a japanese girl. Her hair and eyes are brown, the hair extending past shoulder length. Straight posture, large-square glasses, which give her an appearance of a senior college-person or even a young teacher, if someone's young and impressionable enough.
FaceClaim: Azumanga Daioh • Mizuhara Koyomi • Nobuhiko Yomi
Personal History:
Nobuhiko Yomi was born to a middle class family in Shibuya, 16 years ago. Her mother, Nobuhiko Harumi, is a doctor, and her father, Nobuhiko Reijiro, is an aspiring freelance writer. They were good parents, in a way. Their girl was never really denied anything, as her wants were something that both parents could usually afford. Though, what she did not often get was their attention - they were usually working, and when home - too tired to pay attention to their daughter. From early years, Yomi was taught to take care of the house, to ease the burden on her family.
It also left her without much appreciation for herself. No drawings clipped onto the fridge, nor particular happiness for high grades. The love was there, but it was ... distant. It taught Yomi to get by on small amounts of it. But at the same time it slowly developed a sense of low self-esteem, as virtually nothing got an emotional approving or disapproving reaction out of them. Being a rebellious child did not help much- she passed that stage in grade school. It only changed things towards irritation and an occasional scolding, which was the opposite of what Yomi wanted.
In middle and high school, though, Yomi found happiness outside the house. She made friends with four of her classmates, each of them admirable in their own way. Chiko was the smartest girl in school, but incredibly helpful and modest about it. Kaya was a rambunctious brat with no sense of self-reservation. That one also turned out to be Yomi's best friend, as she made her look like a paragon of intelligence and self-control. Takeko-san was very athletic and tall, but possessing the heart of a gentle giant. And Orihime was a girl with very strange and unique ideas, which came across as inappropriate half the time. Yomi found her place in that crowd as a place of emotional balance, whether protecting Chiko from Kaya's bullying, helping Orihime from drifting off into day-dreaming, and pushing Takeko out of her quietness and solitude.
Yomi admired them... but also envied them, in a way. Secretly trying to outdo them, beat them in their own game. But it was pointless. 87 was a good grade, but Chiko always got a 100. Outrunning Takeko-san was an endeavor best forgotten. And she simply did not have the imagination or the wit to one-up Kaya or Orihime. School theater became a hobby on a whim, and it stuck. Yomi wrote a few plays for the club, and also frequently ended up among the main cast, which made her feel special, even though this was merely school theater.
So went on the uneventful life in Shibuya. Summer festivals, Autumn festivals, yearly student fairs, tests, classes, and hang-outs. In the second year of her high school, Yomi was slowly preparing herself for graduation. Knowing that years fly by quickly, and once that happens - her motley group of friends would disband, pulled away into different universities... different cities even! Or perhaps it was just autumn melancholy wearing her down. One day, sitting at the park all alone, she heard her phone ring. Yomi pulled it out of the pocket, only to discover something strange happening to it.
The color of the display changed, and it was making weird, glitchy noises... What could it possibly be?
Spirit Element:Edginess Darkness
Sprite Spirit:
Species: Renamon
Appearance:
Attribute: Virus
Family/ies: Nightmare Soldiers
Type: Beast-person
Fighting Style: Getting close to the enemy very fast and overwhelming them in furious melee.
Abilities:
- Spirit Weapon - Creates a weapon out of dark energy to be used in battle. The weapon delivers a damage output comparable to typical digital moves and attacks at this level of strength. Lasts indefinitely. Cannot form complex weapons such as guns/bows/catapults/etc. If used another move (except spirit dash) while using it, needs to be recast.
- Spirit Dash - Boosts the digimon's moving capabilities, allowing her to run very quickly, with enough speed to scale walls, and avoid incoming slow-moving projectiles, such as thrown weapons or grenades. Will not help dodging bullets, missiles, lasers etc. Digimon of the same level will not be able to outrun her, without a movement ability of their own. Does not affect Spirit Weapon. 3 post duration, 2 post cooldown.
- Spirit Armor - Casts a protective layer of dark energy around herself, creating barrier against attacks. The armor will withstand a hit of a digimon ability of the same rank, or up to 3 non-specialized attacks. Melee attacks against the armor will cause a feedback effect, making them bounce off and potentially knocking the attacker off their feet. 2 Post cooldown.
- Dark Sphere: The digimon lobs a sphere of dark energy at the target, which explodes upon impact, dealing mild damage, and covering the surrounding area of about 7m in diameter in a dark shroud. The shroud makes it hard to breathe and see through for anyone but the user. 3 turns cooldown, 3 turns duration.
