It was New Year's Eve in the human world, and Adrian could not believe how much of a wild ride this year was for him. It was only nine months ago when he first met Shoutmon and was plunged into the world of Digimon. Now, he just can't picture his life being any different at all. Today, Adrian just wanted to be thankful for how much Shoutmon had changed his life, so the two headed to the forest to hang out in secret.
"I really like this scarf you gave me for Christmas," Shoutmon tells Adrian. He was currently wearing a long golden scarf that looked like two half-capes blowing in the wind. "It's totally my style."
"Thanks," Adrian replied. "I'm glad you like it. And I'm glad that I met you. You really changed my life."
"You still want to be my partner even after all the crap that happened because of me," Shoutmon halfheartedly chuckled, "Like those dumb knights, or even Leith almost getting killed?"
"None of those were your fault alone, Shoutmon. We just... happened to be getting chased by a bunch of psychotic criminals that want to use you for evil things."
"Yeah... even though I used to be evil in my previous life." Shoutmon stopped talking as he closed his eyes, a tear running down his face. He didn't want to believe he was actually like that, but it made too much sense; the memories, the knights, the journal...
"...you wanna know something? I bet Lia is proud of you right now, the you that you currently are. Omni let his emotions cloud his judgement like that, going bonkers and annihilating other humans. You used that information to make sure you never do things like that again. That's really admirable, Shoutmon."
Shoutmon blushed as he laughed it off. "You sappy son of a Biyomon, stop..."
"Come on, you know it's true," Adrian laughed as he playfully punched Shoutmon's arm a little bit. Suddenly, Shoutmon perked his head up. He had a look of dread on his face.
"Something's coming..."
"Are you sure? ...wait, could it be?"
"We need to run! NOW! WE GOTTA-" Shoutmon never got to finish that cry as a sudden X-Beam came right at them. Both the human and Digimon managed to get out of the way at the same time. However, when Adrian got up he saw that his friend was... not so lucky.
"It's you..." Adrian gasped in horror as he looked upon the Grademon, the same Grademon that had attacked him and his friends previous times before.
"Who were you expecting? Your precious friends?" Grademon laughed as he held Shoutmon in his left arm tightly, the red dragon struggling to escape.
"LET... ME... GO!"
"Oh sure... just as soon as your friend here is dead," Grademon said, preparing to throw a sword right at the human, as well as hiding a smirk as he hid his true plan. He knew how to unleash RedMagnamon...
"No... NO! YOU LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Suddenly Shoutmon's eyes began to light on fire, and his voice became distorted.
"Oh no..."
"Oh, yes..."
"It's happening!"
"ADRIAAAAAAN!" Shoutmon yelled before becoming surrounded in a bright light. As this was going on, Dianamon and Knightmon then joined Grademon as the digivolution process began.
"Shoutmon, double warp digivolve tooo..."
Before long, the Shoutmon that Adrian had known was now long gone. In its place was a fairly scary-looking Digimon, with red scales and red eyes, but also covered in golden armor. His eyes no longer had a spark of humor and life, but now a glare of hatred and pure evil. As he finished digivolving, the newly evolved mega looked down at the three knights, who all bowed in his presence.
"Ello dere, boss. We saved ya..."
"Hmph. Good. I congratulate the three of you for doing as I have asked of you. But now... there is a problem of the human. I need him to stay in this form."
"Shoutmon, no..."
"Just take him, I say. He has those card thingies that can power you up, anyways. He might be useful."
"Excellent point, Diana. You, human..." RedMagnamon grabbed Adrian with his right hand, squeezing him. "You're coming with us."
"Shoutmon, please!" Adrian pleaded, trying to get out of RedMagnamon's grasp. "You know me! You can't do this!!!"
"'Shoutmon' was nothing more than a vessel. He does not exist. Now there is only me... and soon, there won't be any humans at all."
"You're going to appreciate what we've set up for you, boss," Grademon says as the four Digimon begin to fly up into the air. Unbeknownst to them, before Adrian was grabbed, he sent his D-Terminal's tracking location to a few certain people...
It was up to them now.
