Now that everything seemed to be slowly calming down, Katherine, Jazz, and Arthur looked at each other. “Miyu!” They squealed at the same time.
How was their Chinese friend doing after such a brutal explosion? Were she and Bloom okay? They could only think that the outbreak had happened close to where they were, so they just started moving towards the crater that the blast had produced. Stopping above the hole caused in the ground, the three of them stared at the duo.
“Bloom...” Katherine took both hands to her mouth, gasping. The plant digimon seemed to be in awful shape. It was unsetting just seeing her like that. Jazz’s eyes widened. What could have happened? What kind of battle could have taken a strong, sturdy digimon like Bloom to… well, this?
Epox, accompanied by Kokatorimon and Okimi, arrived too.
“Mr. Epox! We need to help her!” The Spaniard shouted, raising her gaze to meet the Seraphimon’s.
“Doctors!” Answering to his call, a couple of MudFrigimon went down the crater and approximated the Tanemon. After a quick inspection…
“Boss! She’s in really critical conditions! She needs to be taken to a hospital but... I doubt she will make it, even if we fly there.”
Looking a bit desperate, the chief of the police department stopped to think for a moment or two. “We’re too far away from Whitewater City. Even myself, flying at high speed, won’t make it in time.”
“N-No…” Arthur muttered. Was Bloom really going to die here? Wasn’t there anything they could do.
The voice of Kokatorimon broke the reverie the group was in. “The Gem…” He said.
“Huh?” The whole group, Okimi included, turned to face the rooster.
“It can take us to the hospital.”
“What are you talking about, dad?” The daughter of the archeologist questioned.
“The gem. It has… a very powerful skill.” He stared at the piece of jewelry in the angel’s hand. “It can teleport things or people to the place the one who's holding the gem thinks of. That’s what I used to come back when I replaced the one that was buried with a fake one.”
“That’s why the one I unburied was a fake…” Lowering her gaze, Okimi muttered.
On their side, Jazz and Katherine looked at each other. “That’s right!” They said at the same time. “The Ochre Zoid Gem can change the conditions of the environment. Apparently, every Zoid Gem has a unique power.” The Spaniard reached a conclusion.
“Kokatorimon, can you use the Zoid Gem to take us to the hospital?” Epox asked.
“It definitely can't take us all there. But maybe it can take us five and the two little girls.” He answered, obviously referring to Bloom and Miyu.
“I’ll stay here, then. We need to put the rest of the passengers into safety, and put any enemy that can be left around into custody.” Epox gazed at the unconscious Gigadramon, in front of the train. “There are still many things left to do. Please, take those girls to a hospital, I’ll see you all later.”
With this, he handed the gem to Kokatorimon. The group went down the crater and approximated Miyu and Bloom.
“Miyu! We’re saving Bloom.” Katherine stated as soon as they arrived.
“Everyone, close your eyes.” To Kokatorimon's voice, the whole group obeyed. “I just need to think of Whitewater City hospital and…”
A glow of blue energy started swirling around Okimi, Kokatorimon, Arthur, Katherine, Jazz, Bloom and Miyu. Before they noticed, they were all gone. Once they opened their eyes, what they would find were the white walls of the medical facility.
“A-Amazing…” The power of these gems never ceased to amaze her.
A couple of hours went by. While they waited outside of the emergency room, Katherine, Jazz, Arthur, and Miyu explained everything to the archeologist and his daughter. Coaltmon didn’t take long to get there, also helping explain to the birds everything they had been through to save them, and telling the group how he had decided to call Epox when he found out what was happening in the train.
Thanks to all of this, both the Piyomon and her father were able to understand everything this group had been through to save them, the whole thing even bringing them to tears. The reunion at the Golden Eggplant, the fight at Alley # 2, the planning inside of Coaltmon’s house and the heist inside the train. Now that they had started actually telling the story, Katherine was realizing everything they had been through and what they had accomplished.
Well, not like they could call this a victory until…
A Centaurus digimon went off the emergency room into the waiting room. He was wearing a robe. Katherine’s D-Terminal revealed it was a Centaurumon. He was the doctor taking care of Bloom.
“We had to perform surgery to rebuild your friend’s data.” He stated, looking at Miyu, while the rest of the group was gathered around her, listening at everything from up close. “If you had arrived some minutes later, too much of her data would have vanished, and she would not have made it.” A short pause ensued. Then…
“She’s out of danger now. Plant type digimon usually heal faster, thanks to their digital structure. She’ll just have to stay here resting for a couple of days and she should be good to go.”
At this, the whole group cheered, hugging each other, tears in their eyes.
Now this, was a victory.
“Would you like to go in to see her? She’s conscious now. Only three of you should go in, though. We don't want her to feel overwhelmed.”
Katherine and Jazz gazed at Miyu. Would she like them to go with her, or would she prefer to go in by herself?
