At a first glance, all seemed right with the world today. Rebecca Story and her Digimon were celebrating a peaceful News Year's Eve with her grandmother and older brother, who had gotten the chance to spend the holidays away from his studies in America and be with his family.
"Would you two care for some more cookies?" Rebecca's grandmother Mayumi asked Agumon and Gabumon.
"Ah yes!" "That would be lovely."
As the two Digimon enjoyed their cookies, Rebecca got a sudden ringing on her D-Terminal. She opened it up... and gasped loudly as her glued eyes widened. "Grandma, Agumon, Gabumon and I have... we have to go. Something happened to our friends."
"Wait, you're leaving already?" Rebecca's brother Iki asked incredulously. "You're not even gonna stay with us for New Years?"
"Iki, this is important. It... it's about him."
"Don't let us stop you, honey," Mayumi said with a warm smile. "Just make sure you get home safe."
"We'll try," Rebecca reassures her family. She hugged her brother and her grandmother before running upstairs to change into her White Wolf attire. When she was all properly changed, she and her Digimon (inside of the V-Pet) ran over to the Shibuki Forest, where the coordinates were said to be. But... there was no one there?
"I don't get it, where would they even be if they're not here?" Agumon asked as he exited the V-Pet on his own, with Gabumon following suit. Gabumon hummed as he thought more about it.
"Maybe they're... in the sky..."

The Pillar of Eternity was one hell of a lodging. The place was like the penthouse of a five-star hotel except for the fact that every lodging on every floor was equally luxurious. Theirs specifically was only one bedroom, but that was about choice, not availability. It seemed the trio were still not quite able to sleep apart, seeing as none of them ever had ever since meeting. On this night, though, that was a downside. The time divide between human and digital worlds meant that three-fifths of Haunted Threnody were in deep sleep when Leith's digivice began to beep incessantly from its nightstand. Leith's response was swift and immediate. "Whoever gets out of bed and throws my digivice out the window can have my share of breakfast."
Leith didn't seem to care that he was twenty stories above the cold, hard ground, and apparently neither did Shoutmon given how eagerly he arose to claim that prize. Lucky for everybody, Shoutmon actually had the sense to glance at the screen before tossing it out. His expression changed from mischievous eagerness to rising concern. "Leith, you're really gonna wanna see this!" Leith groaned. "Well, probably not, but get your ass out of bed already!"
Something in Shoutmon's tone, an unusual element of urgency, sent a chill up Leith's spine as he reluctantly rose and checked the device to find he was receiving, "A distress signal. Vee, get on your feet! Both of you find us snacks and water we can eat on the way. Fuck, where are my shoes?"
"What's all the shouting about?"
"Just hurry the hell up, blueberry!"
"We're leaving soon as I get actual clothes on. Move it!" Shit, we gotta start carrying go bags for stuff like this.
The digimon scrambled to prepare best they could in the time it took Leith to trade PJ's for clothes, shoes, and his ASCENSION hoodie for good measure. Digivice on the left wrist, analog watch on the right. Leith almost forgot he could use his phone in the real world, too. Then the group was off to catch the first Trailmon it could, seeing as they were just too far to fly all the way across the world to Terminus. It was while waiting that the group stuffed its faces with as much food as it had time to grab and run with.
Raidramon would be their method of transport soon as the train stopped in Shibuya. They ran the risk of trampling other passengers on their dash out, but too bad for them. "Leith, shouldn't we hide before we're above ground?"
"Not important. Just keep moving!" That was why Raidramon ended up sprinting down human streets at the tail end of rush hour. The great electric drake had to exercise his agility to avoid causing extensive property damage, but he also had to disregard red lights and onlookers to make good time. Well, there's no hiding we're here now. My parents are probably gonna see me on the news if AEGIS doesn't pull some strings. Shit, I didn't actually want to use my connections with them, but now I might have to make something with the fact that the co-chief of AEGIS is my boyfriend. Oh, well. Jail wasn't as important as a friend's life. Maybe it might have been in another time, but Leith wasn't passive and spineless anymore.
The young man considered sending Adrian a message with either real or digital technology but decided against it. Adrian didn't send one first, meaning it could have been impossible at best or dangerous at worst. The ride mercifully took the trio out of main streets and into a secluded forest area, but rather unmercifully there was someone just at their destination. In the dark, the person was too hard to see, so Raidramon couldn't stop his forward momentum in time. "Watch out!" he tried to warn, but they didn't have a prayer at dodging with the time given. Fortunately, Raidramon was able to jump over them. That led him and his riders straight into a tree, but the armored digimon had the agility to press his paws on the tree and kick off it it instead of plowing right through it. Unfortunately, the riders were unprepared for this maneuver and got thrown right beside the stranger. As they rose to their feet slowly through pain, Leith scrambled, "Look, get out of here! I know this is weird, but if you wanna live you have to-"
"-Wait a second!" It was Shoutmon who griped through a stinging in his elbows, "We know these guys! Agh... Man, that stings. Rebecca, right?"
"Rebecca?" Raidramon padded behind Leith and got the Tamer on his feet by pulling on his Tamer's hood with his mouth. Then he began looking Leith over for injuries as Leith went on, "Oh, shit, you guys! I remember you now. OK, what's going on here? Where're Adrian and his Shoutmon?"

White Wolf, Agumon and Gabumon waited there for a few minutes, wondering how the two would get a way up to the sky when they suddenly heard a voice yelling at them to watch out. White Wolf turned around to see a quadrupedal blue dragon coming right at the group. Thankfully, the dragon managed to jump over all three of them before the collision occurred.
"My life just flashed before my eyes..." Agumon gasped as he knelt down to the ground, breathing heavily.
"Okay, just WHAT is your problem?!" yelled White Wolf as she turned around towards the culprits of their almost-death. "You shouldn't be running that fast with all this snow on the ground!" And just like that, the human got off of their big dragon and started criticizing HER for being there. "Excuse me?! I am trying to-"
"White Wolf, hold on a second," Gabumon intervened before a verbal fight broke out. "This is Leith and his twin Digimon. From back in that village, remember?"
"...Leith?" White Wolf now had a better view of the group, and it was indeed who Gabumon said they were. Leith began asking what was going on, and where Adrian and Shoutmon were. "Leith, it happened. RedMagnamon has been resurrected, and I think he took Adrian with him. We need to stop him before something horrible happens. Adrian sent us coordinates of his D-Terminal, but... I think it's straight up into the sky."

"Redmagna- Oh, God, no." Leith started to pound his own fist against his head out of frustration and poorly channeled numerous emotions, but the one in his voice more than anything sounded scarily close to complete resignation. "I mean, I figured, because I couldn't think of what else it could be, but, fuck." As the digimon all recovered and stood, Leith started to pace a second and breathe harder. "OK, world's not destroyed. We got this. We gotta go up? We're gonna go up. Guys?"
"Raidramon slide digivolve to..."
"Shoutmon digivolve to..."
Both digimon morphed in order to become-
"ExVeemon!"
"Sonoramon!"
-while Leith adjusted his fingerless riding gloves. ExVeemon didn't have to be commanded to lay down prone so his Tamer could mount him at the base of the neck. "If you guys can't fly, then pick your ride. But, uh... take my advice and pick ExVeemon here." No matter who Rebecca and co mounted, then, the pair started to ascend toward the sky.

White Wolf wasn't going to lie; she was legitimately terrified of this situation. She had seen first hand what RedMagnamon's minions could do; she wasn't ready for RedMagnamon himself... especially since he used to be a good little Digimon like Shoutmon. But... they had to try, right?
Leith's Digimon digivolved into two flying Digimon and he hopped on top of the ExVeemon. Leith had warned them to not ride on the Sonoramon, and White Wolf and Gabumon hopped onto the ExVeemon with Leith. Agumon, however...
"Come on, it can't be THAT bad," Agumon "reasons," getting on top of Sonoramon. "Besides, the blue one has too many others on them already." It would be Sonoramon's choice of whether or not Agumon would regret that decision or not.
If the others were to continue flying upward, eventually they would run into something none of them expected to see: a giant, red spaceship floating above the clouds, its size comparable to a luxury cruiseline.
"Oh my god..." White Wolf gasped as they approached the ship. Had this thing been over Shibuya this whole time?!

"I don't know if you've ever ridden dragonback, but it can be kinda tough but still easier than you think. You're gonna want to..." Leith tried to speed through the riding instruction like it was an airplane safety demonstration on cocaine to Gabumon and Rebecca. "...and there's just no preventing ear popping. Agumon, same for you, only I'd add making your peace and praying."
"You wanna say something to my face?"
"I wanna say you're not as gentle with your passengers."
"Are we going to get going or not?" ExVeemon had a point, so the sextet got airborne. The flight was blind for a few seconds, but a rapid ascent revealed where they needed to be pretty quickly. Leith was right, of course; moderate turbulence that didn't matter to something Sonoramon's size shook and rattled Agumon a fair bit. "What is that?"
"Where we're going, I guess."
"OK, better question. Why is that?"
Leith sighed. "Unfortunately, that is the better question." After some more seconds of flying, though, Leith cried out, "Guys, guys, stop! Take me down! Take us down!" panicking. They obeyed and lost some altitude.
"Leith, what's wrong?"
"I can't... agh, geez, I couldn't breathe. Maybe it didn't affect you 'cause, you know, dragons, but the air's too thin for people up there. We can't-" Before Leith could finish his point he found his face was covered by an oxygen mask covered his nose and mouth, and the addition of weight on his back must have been its tank. His digivice flashed in large, friendly letters, Oxygen Levels Low: EV SUIT ACTIVATED. "Whoa! Man, I'd be dead six times without this thing. Rebecca, slip one of these on before we go any higher."
Assuming she did, the group continued to rise and hover above the giant vehicle. "We're gonna find somewhere to put down, and... I dunno. Search blindly, I guess, or see if the digivices can mark him. Deal?"

You'd think that once they got onto the dragons that they'd just immediately take off, right? Wrong, apparently, as Leith decided he had to explain all the basic fundamentals of riding a dragon like they were in a school class or something. The way Leith had explained all of this made Rebecca, Agumon and Gabumon stare at him with faces of disbelief.
"I... got none of that," White Wolf said with complete emotion drained from her face.
"What the heck is his deal?" Agumon whispered to Sonoramon. "He does realize we need to GO, right?"
Eventually, the group did take off to the sky. Turns out that Leith was right as since Sonoramon was such a rough flyer, Agumon had to hold on EXTRA tight just to make sure he didn't fly off. When they saw the ship, Agumon couldn't hold it in anymore. He leaned over and vomited right into the cloudy sky, luckily not on Sonoramon at all. Hopefully that puke didn't land on anybody below...
After that, NOW he notices the ship. "Holy frick! What... is that a spaceship?!"
"Apparently..." Gabumon nods. It was right then and there that the toll of the high altitude had an effect on Leith and Rebecca, both of them not being able to breathe properly. Leith's EV suit activated, and Rebecca's followed shortly after.
"Alright, I'm good now... and yeah, Leith, that's as good of a plan as we can possibly have. Let's go."
If the group were to get closer to the ship, they'd find a perfect entry point near the back. It was a line of deck with a single door that led into the ship. Upon entering, the group would be faced with a metal, red-colored hallway with branching paths and silver metal flooring. The only question was... what next?

"Do you see that?" ExVeemon pointed out the possible landing dock for the group.
"I guess that's as good a place as any. Drop and dismount, and break the door down." What did it matter that the door was probably unlocked? Leith didn't know what was on the other side. It turned out to be nothing, but both bipedal dragons shoulder-charged it with their immense weight, it turned out to be nothing... this time. "OK, we're not gonna be stupid about this. We'll split up, but don't leave your partners." Leith was more talking to Rebecca's company there; he knew his guys wouldn't separate from him even if he'd told them to, not that he wanted them to. "Fast, quiet, alert. Throw the first punch and the last punch. There's no way to predict where these ways go, so just rely on intuition and memory. Whoever finds him first... well, you have no radio, so that's gonna suck, but smaller teams are faster and quieter. Let's go." The young man seemed laser-focused and resolute, though hopefully his dictation to Rebecca and company wouldn't be too bossy.

"Alright, got it," Rebecca nodded. "If you find Adrian... or the knights... do not immediately engage. It should be pretty obvious why you shouldn't. Be smart about it." And with that, the first branching path came up, one going to the left, and one going to the right. Rebecca and company decided to take the left.
Since the plan was to split up, Leith and his Digimon would take the path heading right. There would be a lot of doors that lead to very standard rooms. A kitchen, the barracks, training areas, etcetera. Although as the group wandered, they would begin to hear strange machine-like noises. As those noises got louder, a giant, metal door with gold trimming would come into view.
If the group decided to open this door... they would not believe what they were seeing. Inside this room was like a mix between a factory conveyor belt and a prison. Large claws on a conveyor belt line would each be carrying a glass dome, and inside these glass domes were humans. Humans of all different nationalities, and all of them with beat up skin and torn clothes. Each human had a look of sadness and absolute fear in their eyes as they were waiting for their fates.
Inside this room as well would be another short brown-haired human that was free. She wasn't any older than fifteen, and she seemed to be... looking for something, or someone as she observed each glass orb. Assuming the group walked in, the girl would see the Digimon and her eyes would widen as she ran deeper into the weird factory room.

"Mother..." The sight behind the door was so shocking to Leith that even saying the curse properly felt like an understatement. He didn't have time to take in the sights, though, thanks to that girl. "Hey! Wait! We're friendly!" Too late. She was off. "Sonora, get her back here... gently."
"I'll try!" Sonoramon himself set off in pursuit of the girl, then, flying where there was room to fly and running where there wasn't. He tried calling after the girl, explaining that he was with Leith and a rescue team, but if that didn't work he was also prepared to try and physically force her back if it could be done without injury - or at all.
Meanwhile, Leith and ExVeemon remained where they were. "God. I'm gonna be sick..." Leith felt weak in the knees, but before falling backwards ExVeemon's foot propped him back up. "Thanks. So, uh... Rebecca said do not engage. I say we can't let whatever this is continue. Looks like you're the deciding vote."
"It's not a hard choice. Digimon doing this to humans is... unspeakable."
"Better get to work, then."
ExVeemon didn't need a second invitation. "Vee Laser!" The blue dragon's target was a row of those arms transporting people. Less arms meant less grabbing meant less... this. Hopefully. ExVeemon attacked the mechanical arms with Vee Laser. -Vee-Laser: Emits an energy wave from the "X" pattern on its chest.

"No! Stay away!" The girl screamed as she ran back. "You won't be taking me back there! I know what you're doing to us! I'm getting my sister and getting out of here!" The tone in which the girl screamed this had a sense of pure desperation and sadness. Who knows what that girl went through...
The girl saw the giant red dragon fly right towards her, and she screamed even louder. She took off her bag and started swinging it like a weapon, yelling even more as tears streamed down her eyes. "NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME! GET AWAY!"
And in an instant there was a sudden ray blasted away the mechanical claws that were holding onto these humans. Of course the glass orbs fell, but surprisingly they did not shatter at all. The people inside were freaking out as well, since of course these freaking eleven feet tall dragons were storming the place. And they also did not account that a ship like this would have ALARMS that would go off in the event of something like this.
"I'm not staying here and getting captured," The girl said as she ran past Sonoramon, exiting the room as fast as she could. It was at that moment that a swarm of Gladimon stormed into the area, aiming their swords right at Leith and the dragons.
"FREEZE," one of them yelled, "You are hereby under arrest! We command you to surrender your Digimon and turn yourself in!"

Sonoramon wanted to continue the pursuit, but the Gladimon brigade presented a more immediate problem that forced him to let the girl get away. Maybe the claws were stopped, but now Leith and company were the ones in immediate danger. When the dragons couldn't make a move, surrounded, Leith knew they had the disadvantage. So, unfortunately, he was forced to throw up his arms and lay his hands on his head. "Whoa, whoa, OK. I ain't a digimon. I can't hurt anybody." Leith sank to his knees, but his calm and even voice was his attempt to maintain dignity in his undignified position. OK, this sucks, but I've played this game before. First, mock surrender. Then...
Both Sonoramon and ExVeemon were reluctant to drop their fighting stances, but as they backed up toward Leith they were forced to let their bodies relax and arms hang by their sides (not that it mattered for digimon whose arms were not their primary attack points). Hopefully that would fool the Gladimon, but it sure as hell didn't fool Leith. He didn't even need a verbal signal; his notification to drop and cover his head was when both digimon began to transform.
"ExVeemon-"
"Sonoramon-"
"-digivolve to..."
Both digimon assumed their most powerful available forms, hoping for the edge over these champions.
"...Plesiomon!"
"...MegaSeadramon!" Lucky for them, one-stage evolution was fast enough to loose an attack. MegaSeadramon's choice was, "Hydroshock!" which for him meant he shot a beam of extremely high-pressure water from his serpentine mouth in a circle around himself, long body curled protectively around the Tamer.
Plesiomon coordinated with, "Light Beam!" His ability an targeting pattern were nearly the same, but his weapon was a beam of white-hot light instead of water. Sonoramon digivolved to Ultimate MegaSeadramon.ExVeemon digivolved to Ultimate Plesiomon. MegaSeadramon attacked the Gladimon squad with Hydroshock outside of water. -Hydroshock: This digimon opens its mouth and shoots water at the opponent like a hose at such high pressure that it's meant to cut through water to deal water damage. If this ability is used used land, the lack of water resistance boosts this ability's damage by 20% but also adds a cooldown of one post.
Plesiomon attacked the Gladimon squad with Light Beam outside of water. -Light Beam: From this digimon's mouth, a beam of light is emitted that deals light (the element) damage. When used underwater, this move's damage is increased by 20% due to the magnification effect of the water but also gains a cooldown of one post.
Hydroshock must cool down: 1 post remaining.

The girl did not feel entirely happy about leaving those poor fools to die at the hands of the Gladimon, but she had no choice. Her escape from that prison was pure luck and coincidence, and she couldn't risk being captured now. Not until she found Mitsu. The girl ran in the opposite direction from where Leith and his Digimon walked, as fast as she possibly could.
Meanwhile, Rebecca and her Digimon weren't having that much luck. All they found were barracks. Just a lot of bedrooms, really. "Yeah, this miiiight be the barracks section of the ship..." she admitted as she sweatdropped. And just like that, the alarms went off from the event earlier. "God damn it, Leith... I ask you one simple thing. Come on, we have to move!"
"Are we heading TOWARDS the alarms or away from them?" Agumon asked, as he was perfectly fine with either. Before White Wolf could answer, Gabumon heard footsteps coming from down the opposite way of the hall.
"Hm?" With curiosity, Gabumon looked down the hallway to see what that noise was. He was surprised to see another teenage girl running down the hallway. "White Wolf, someone is coming! Another human!"
"What?!"
Back with Leith and the Gladimon, things seemed to be working out for the latter group. The former thought they would have the advantage for a bit, as they suddenly both Digivolved to Ultimate forms. Both were preparing to attack, when the leader Gladimon pulled out a device. The same mind control device from back in Frontier Village.
"If you must persist with the attack, then we will be forced to use this. Either surrender, or have your friends fight one another!"
The group now had two choices. One of which was to back down and let themselves be captured, but have their minds still intact. The other was to go ahead with the attack anyways, but risk becoming mindless slaves again. What were they going to do?

That... was problematic. It was too late to stop the attacks, but it wasn't too late to aim them safely upward and avoid harming the knight digimon (as much as it turned the stomachs of the digimon involved). Hopefully that kept the tension just low enough to let the group consider its options. All of them were grim, since the consequences of each were negative. Leith was thinking a million miles per second trying to work something out. Either way we're being controlled, but that little device could kill us all! The light bulb refused to turn on. ...fuck. We're screwed. The least screwed we could be is actually surrender here. Damnit!
That machine gave Plesiomon especially instant pause. He didn't forget what that device made him to, but now he was ultimate level. In addition to harming MegaSeadramon, he could kill Leith with the flick of his tail if he lived long enough to see the end of the fight. He, too, understood the safest option was surrender. "Don't hurt hi-"
"Whirlpool Spin!" MegaSeadramon didn't get the memo, seeing as he proceeded to lunge forward and began slithering rapid laps around one of the Gladimon... the one who was holding the device. This served to create a whirlwind in the absence of water around the knight digimon.
That forced Plesiomon's hand. He used, "Light Beam!" again on the same target. This was just a survival reaction, however; the true genius of the serpent's move didn't sink in until after the move was made. He's not being reckless. That was a calculated risk! We're a lot faster than a champion, and if they only have one mind controller on them and it's destroyed, or the user is, they can't use it on us!
But that didn't occur to Leith. The best he could do was try and stay low again. Sonoramon attacked the Gladimon holding the device with Whirlpool spin outside of water. -Whirlpool Spin: If used on land, This digimon slithers around an opponent a small tornado that damages opponents with wind damage. If used underwater water, this digimon swims rapidly in a circle to create a whirlpool that sucks in opponents and deals water damage. Using this ability underwater boosts this ability's damage by 20% but also adds a cooldown of one post.
Plesiomon attacked the Gladimon holding the device with Light Beam. -Light Beam: From this digimon's mouth, a beam of light is emitted that deals light (the element) damage. When used underwater, this move's damage is increased by 20% due to the magnification effect of the water but also gains a cooldown of one post.
Hydroshock is ready to use.

As the teenage girl was running, she saw something coming up. It looked like another human... and even more of those monsters that held her captive in the first place! Stopping to a halt, she screamed more. "AAAAH! Stay away!" She was about to run again but then she took a good look at Rebecca. "...White Wolf? Is that you? They took you too?!"
"Took me?" Rebecca asked, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"You don't know? Those... THINGS..." she pointed towards Agumon and Gabumon, "they've been kidnapping people! And... putting them in these glass balls like hamsters! Every now and then, someone is taken, and... and..."
"And what?"
"..." When the girl said what happens to those humans, her jaw dropped to the ground, and she began to feel weak in the knees. They had to find Leith! NOW!
Speaking of Leith, he and his Digimon were in a pinch. The Gladimon had threatened to mind-control them again if they attempted to attack unless they surrendered. For a while, the leader Gladimon thought that they had this Tamer scum cornered. Suddenly, the MegaSeadramon lunged forward and trapped the leader into a water whirlpool before he could activate the device!
"WHOOOOOOOAAAA!!!" The Gladimon screamed as he was flung around inside the whirlpool, getting more sick from the ride every second. Then Plesiomon fired a Light Beam right at the same Gladimon, which destroyed both the Gladimon and the device.
The rest of the Gladimon troop watched this scene play out in horror. "The boss is dead... Let's get out of here!" And just like that, the Gladimon troop ran right out the door. However, it would be a matter of time before one of the actual knights showed up, like Grademon or Dianamon.
