The City of Night hummed with voices like a low lullaby. A constant rumbling noise to those who had managed to navigate the twisting maze like tunnels to reach the city itself, passing by the various strange mix of rough looking guards, to reach one of the entryways to receiving their first sight of Tenebrous.
It wasn't much to look at now. Not in these early stages. Just a bunch of tents and shanty houses made from scrap metal and junk that surrounded the gutted remains of the Chaos Arena. However, as the residents worked, with more and more pouring in at a slow trickle, the old shanties were taken down, the scrap sold or re-purposed with tents rising up in their place. A small market had already sprung up on the sands of the once gladiatorial arena along with a few rising tents that would house the cities essentials until things could be sorta out. Gazi and his crew had been quick to spring into action and after a short conversation between their leader and the Doctor the 'traders' had set up steady supply line.
It was here upon these sands up to her elbows in a crate where Doctor Cassandra Cross could be found...smiling. Not a grimacing show of teeth, not the baring of her incisors in a gesture that lacked warmth, no, really and truly smiling. Her face nearly split with the expression, wild blonde hair astray, the off-blue eyes of her holosuit flickering a little at the strain, but bright with joy as she barked out excited orders to the small swarm of digimon around her that worked to set-up what was gradually becoming apparent to be a military surplus Field Hospital Tent.

This was technically the first time that Kan had been here properly. His previous excursion into old terminus wasn't exactly something he remembered with absolute clarity as rough as it was. There were still bits that he and snyder had to work together to clarify. After all spending so much time in a spirit form you no longer had often had horrible repercussions if you weren't careful.
The rough looking guards met only a passing glance from the spirit user, his own mercenary sizing them up as they passed. She was in a no business sort of attitude with kan being unable to spirit digivolve. Every threat was assessed and every measure taken to assure his security.
It was somewhat frustrating with the way that this place was set up, it was easy to get turned around and if he wasn't careful it'd also be easy to end up with a knife in his back. But thankfully did things seem to look up as he inquired about a particular individual.
A certain Dr Cassandra Cross.
It took quite a lot of explaining and several promises that he wasn't here to do anything to the doctor before they even gave a lick of what direction she was in. Perhaps it was the fact she was a doctor, or perhaps it was the fact that she had helped them out so dramatically that they were willing to... Shelter her.
Well perhaps sheltering was the wrong terminology. She could stay here without worry, without issue without problems of the surface raining down on her head. In fact kan could enjoy the same, he felt less eyes on him than normal and well...
He was enjoying the sensation of peace aside from the excitement he could feel from Snyder. He reveled in this sort of place. He wanted to explore but without the safety of his form... Kan wasn't exactly going to be going anywhere soon.
Stepping underneath a flap he'd find that particular area that the guard spoke of with such hesitance. Seeing that swarm of smaller digimon around the familiar form of the doctor Kan stared for a few moments. That smile... He hadn't seen it before. He felt Gretal bump into him and make him stumble forward; glancing back at her only to find the WereGarurumon gesturing for him to approach the man sighed.
She's also working... but...
The man shook his head and slowly approached with a small wave to grab the doctor's attention. He was more focused on the fact she was smiling and it was... honestly reaching her eyes. It wasn't surprising so much as it was... well relieving to see. Some people were just happy in this sort of style. He cleared his throat and spoke rather quietly; he certainly sounded much better since they last met...
"Doctor. It's good to see you again, thought I'd drop on by."

At the sound of Kan's voice the Doctor paused, glancing up from her pile of crates and the one she'd been digging through to practically beam at the man. "The Reigning Hero returns I see!" Cassandra called out sweeping around the crates as she motioned for her helpers to finish up what they were doing and "Grab some lunch from the mess hall and be back in an hour." Her words resulting in a good natured cheer from her assistants as they finished up what they were doing and quickly hurried off. Leaving the woman to stride forward to greet him.
"Kan! Welcome to Tenebrous. It's not much now, but we're making rather rapid strides. How are you feeling? Snyder hasn't been pushing you too hard during your recovery has he?" The Doctor spoke welcoming and questioning him in nearly a single breath as she eyed the excited spirit while arching a brow. Still a soft smile gentled he words, the woman clearly in too good of a mood to be too hard of the rough around the edges Leomon and his host. Though her gaze did skirt over his shoulders to eye his Mercenary Escort with mild interest, concerned at the implications.

"Reigning hero...?"
There was an audible tone of confusion at that particular mention and he'd share a glance with Gretal who simply gave the man a shrug. He hadn't thought what he did amounted to that sort of name nor... anything of the more recent activities. There was a small shake of the head and he'd give a small grin at seeing the assistants cheer at the idea of a lunch. Likely an early one if he was to guess.
"It's certainly unlike anything I've seen, a little... rough around the edges but some places are good like that. One of the few places I feel I can relax."
The man glanced at snyder who gave the doctor a thumbs up. His voice projected quite easier than last time, as his host was recovering very nicely. With all the things that the spirit had him do how could he not?
"Only as hard as is good for him!"
"I'm feeling good, snyder has been focusing on my recovery so it's been going quicker than on my own. We've been keeping busy in that scope since... the desert."
The smile wasn't off putting, it was... just simply something that the man hadn't seen enough of. It felt... right somehow to see her like this. She suffered enough the last few times that he had seen her, the few times that she had told him about things. Each seemed to open a little more than the last. And considering their last exchange well... He was glad to see her like this. Following her gaze to gretal; the weregarurumon-x blinked and gave a somewhat curt nod.
"Gretal or Bone-saw whatever you prefer. I'm Kan's Merc. Bodyguard. Whatever he needs. Sometimes front desk. A pleasure to meet you Doctor."
The weregarurumon offered her hand, carefully of course with the claws turned in such a manner to not slice up the hand of the doctor. Kan shook his head a little bit and gave Cassandra a small shrug finding his eyes sweeping across the area. He had a few questions of course... but they were light hearted for the most part.
"I see you've been busy. But in a very good way... How long have you been down here for? Nothing's giving you trouble I hope? Need any help maybe?"

"Well I wasn't the only one on the mission here. One must give credit where credit is due." Cas quipped with a smile, ease seeming to radiate from the Doctor who held herself with a sort of homey relaxation and quiet joy. A mix of emotions almost foreign to the woman who felt as though such feelings were from nearly another lifetime.
"And that's good. It's a pleasure to meet you Gretal." The Doctor murmured carefully shaking the Weregarurumon-X's hand even as she cast Snyder an approving nod now that she'd ensured he wasn't running her patient ragged.
"When you two feel your capable of spirit evolving let me know. I'd like to be on hand to ensure everything goes smoothly that first time. Otherwise please make yourselves at home." Cas added with a smile.
"I've been working to get my new office here set-up for the time being until we settle on a permanent place to put it. However, I've been splitting my time between here and my other obligations since our mission together. The City really is coming along beautifully. I called in a few favors to get some trade moving. Wolf right now is acting Mayor till a vote can be held and while he doesn't like the job he's rather good at it." The Doctor explained with a soft smokey laugh that rolled into a gentle chuckle.
"We're having the Arena grounds act as a sort of a city hall and market at the moment, but once we've figured out where facilities will be permanently there's been talk of turning it fully into a farmers market and city center. Maybe even converting the bleachers into walkways and stalls or putting a stage down here on the sands, but that's toe be decided in the future." Cas murmured beaming widely at her guests.
"Have the three of you had lunch yet? Right now we've got a mess hall set up near the edge of the city to feed all the workers and folks recovering. That's where Cloak is right now since he can cook. A lot of the new residents we have coming in are refugees from the Dark Area not to mention the Digimons that had been living here before and most aren't in great shape from being starved for so long. So it was decided that for the good of everyone it'd be wiser to all pool our resources for now to keep everyone fed while the building is going on." She explained her passion for the city clear even as she questioned in the two of them needed a good meal.

"I didn't really do much other than run around like a chicken with it's head cut off but all right..."
Kan let out a smooth chuckle and shook his head, an easy grin spreading across his face. Seeing cas this relaxed well... This was an absolute good thing, a treat to her and those that knew her. Seeing her like this? Would put many individuals that knew her as of late at ease, perhaps this would even let her recover... Hadn't she been running herself ragged?
"A pleasure indeed. I've heard only a little bit about you Doctor but all of it spoke well of you. Perhaps in the future when I need assistance you may be inclined to provide? For a proper sum payment or favor of course... After all, kan's medical expertise is more inclined towards machines than flesh."
The weregarurumon eased her hand back and gave a toothy smile of her own even going so far as sharing a look with snyder. The latter of which was practically holding back a laugh of his own. However at the mention of the spirit evolution kan sighed.
"With him running recovery as much as he has been... it'll be a bit before we can properly spirit evolve. We tried a few days ago and well..."
"It just didn't work. I don't have enough energy as of yet to digivolve."
"They had the outline for maybe a split second before it was just kan awkwardly standing there."
The weregarurumon shook her head and glanced behind her. She was still on guard even if they were in a 'safe' place. She wasn't going to let that go down, not after everything they had been through.
"No kidding? You certainly do have your hands full. A new office would do you good in this place, considering how well it seems to be coming along. And really? he's acting as mayor? I was figuring maybe someone else but... Can't really argue with results."
There was a small shrug and the man blinked quietly as she spoke about the Arena grounds turning into a farmers market along with a city center. Snyder grinned from ear to ear and seemed excited while kan rubbed at his head.
"A farmer's market would go a long way for the people here... considering what we've seen thus far."
The three shared a look and shook their heads at the first question. Kan didn't even know that Cloak could cook! The information kept piling on and kan's expression fell a little bit to hear that most of them were refugees from the dark area... as well as individuals that have been in terrible shape from living here.
"None of us have eaten yet no, we had a breakfast but that was... back near my shop. It's good to see so much be done for these people. If... You need anything in the way of fixing mechanical or digital stuff let me know. Engineering is my strong suit."
"Engineering, computers, if it's mechanical in nature and he has ample time... well I bet he could fix cybernetic digimon if you gave him the chance. Might just surprise you what he can fix, I know it did with me. Have him to thank for the jetpack and chainsaws after all."
There was a light snicker from Snyder and Kan sighed shaking his head a little bit. He was skilled yes but his skills only went as far as his equipment did. And there was a lot that he needed to cover still.
"I've... never seen you like this Doctor. It's... It's good to see this, you like this I mean. Good to see you here, helping these people."
Kan rubbed at his neck somewhat awkwardly and gretal gave the man a gentle nudge which only prompted a shake of the head.
"Planning for short and long term eh... A lot that could be done down here... Heh. Maybe get some of your business partners to look this way Kan. Seein how they're all prim and proper professionals now days."
"I somehow doubt they would be interested in helping somewhere out this far from whitewater..."

Cassandra paused at Kan's words her expression soft and eyes thoughtful. "It is...soothing to build rather then destroy. I became what I am to help people, not to destroy them. It's good to build again." The woman spoke voice surprisingly gentle as she motioned for them to follow her out of the arena turned market and into the city itself. It was a strange, but beautiful place. The Digimon were still as much of a strange and rough looking mix, but those that had shuffled with their heads held low now walked with ease. Tents had begun to replace the less sturdy buildings. Some brightly colored and others nearly the same shade as the stone with a few crowded around by some younger digimon as they painted or sewed little details on their new homes. Those structures that were of decent make remained with hung cloth covering once gaping windows and doors. A few dirt covered digimon with mining gear even strode past and as they neared the outer edge of the city where the tent that served as a kitchen was set up, the outside crowed with a variety of makeshift chairs and tables, Kan could spies holes being dug in the cavern walls. A few even appeared to already have residents.
"It's going to be beautiful when it's done...Tenebrous that is. The two of you are always welcome to come to me should you ever need treatment. I obviously specialize in trauma injuries and not asking too many questions. I'd prefer to keep the City relatively quiet for now, but as a free city I doubt Luminas will be terribly fond of us." The Doctor explained answering Kan and Gretal's previous question as she lead them towards a snaking, but rather quickly moving line that ran along the length of the cooks tent where the various cooks were spooning out the food for the day and handing out bowls or plates.

Post by Kazuya and Royland on Dec 11, 2018 1:02:18 GMT
So there was a new city around huh ? This piqued the interest of both Kazuya and Royland, the duo saw nothing that can convince them to not visit it for fun. Taking a break every now and then would be fun and something everyone should do, Kazuya and Royland stopped at Rosewood first and picked up Julian there patamon friend. In order to help gain experience he needs to achieve his dreams, so this day should prove to be fun at the very least. Everyone reached the city and immediately turned into a group of tourists, admiring the scenes of the city. Greeting everyone in their way, each and everyone of them had a unique way to do so. Kazuya was nice but clearly wished to have some distance, Royland was honest and open, Julian was pure and curious. They got mixed reactions but all in all it was positive.
Sooner rather than later Kazuya would notice someone familiar at the corner of his eyes, she went passed them. He turned around to find that he did saw a familiar face, it was none other than the drunken doctor, but this time she was not with her scary digimon partner. But this time she was a giant man, Kazuya thought it would be safe to assume that the two might be a couple. But whether this was true or not did not change the fact that Kazuya was happy to see the doctor was fine, but alas he wanted to continue his tour. But he forgot that Roy loves company, the Spadamon turned towards and began to rush towards their side. "Hello doctor Cassandra, it's been a while nice to meet you." Royland stood in front of the three and wore a big smile on his face, he then turned towards the two strangers. "Oh forgive my rudeness honorable people, in my excitement in meeting a friend I seemed to have forgotten my manners but allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sir Royland, nice to meet you." He said as he bowed down as a show of respect.
Kazuya was hesitant but he slowly walked towards them, Julian the patamon rested on his head. The golden eyed man decided to introduce himself. "Ahem, my name is Kazuya Oda nice to meet you. And doctor I am glad to see you are ok and sober." The man said with a soft chuckle, Julian however raised his hand and made a casual greeting. "Yo, I am Julian, how are y'all doing today" ?"

"I know exactly what you mean."
Kan blinked a little bit and followed after Cassandra, which prompted gretal to follow suit almost immediately. Seeing the mons here again was... strange. The last time that he had been here it had held such a different vibe, they had been downtrodden and beaten but now? They held some hope in the hearts, some desire to move forward. There were little things that caught his attention; the smallest of things would build onto one another. A single hung cloth now would be a window later, a single door on it's hinges could become a gate...
A kitchen tent could turn into something far more than what it was and it brought a small smile to his face. He'd rub at the back of his neck as Cassandra answered their questions, told them the name of this place. That cassandra would prefer to keep this place quiet. He couldn't blame her nor did he even think twice about how luminas would think of this place.
"Seeing how things are up there... no. No they wouldn't be."
There was a smooth sigh and stretch a little cracking one of his arms after a moment. He'd pause however when a particular Spadamon greeted the doctor. Kan would blink a few times and simply shake his head, holding up a hand in a somewhat friendly but dismissive manner.
"It's fine trust me. My name is Kan this is Gretal."
"Hey."
The Weregarurumon-x raised a brow and tilted her head slightly at that bow. It was rare running into what she presumed to be a self proclaimed knight of sorts. She somehow doubted royalty as they weren't strapped with enough gold.
Then of course followed suit, the partner of the Spadamon no doubt? Or perhaps someone that ran them as a mercenary as there was a patamon rested on their head. Kan would repeat his greeting albeit with a glance at the doctor. As it seemed these were people she knew and not he. Though gretal answered Julian's simple question. Though she ended off with a question that'd only end up making the human rub his temple with a small quirk of a smile on his face.
"I'd like to think well. What do you think Kan?"
"About as well as you'd expect. We're alive and still kicking."

"Well with the D-reaper slowly spreading further and further afield across the Dark Area the refugees need somewhere to go. It's not like they can stay in Rosewood. I hear they're attacking any Virus types that try to settle outside the city." Cas murmured with a tired sigh her smile slipping somewhat at the mention of the turmoil filled situation that had embroiled the aboveground.
"I suppose I should be grateful for such things as it's bringing more and more good hard working Digimon who's only fault was being born a virus type into Tenebrous, but I can't say I'm pleased with the recent state of affairs." The Doctor added running a hand lightly through her hair as she nabbed them a spot in line only pausing when she spotted a familiar mop of hair. Surprise leaving her blinking at the sight of Kazuya and Roy, her memories somewhat fuzzy in regards to the two though she clearly remembered them not having a Patamon.
"Ah yes well you weren't terribly sober yourself, but it's good to see you both again as well and err...hello Julian. I'm Doctor Cassandra Cross, but you may call me Cas." She spoke greeting them with a small smile and a nod towards the little orange and white winged Digimon.
"This is my friend Kan," Cas added nodding towards the looming man beside her, "How are you three finding Tenebrous so far?" She questioned seeming to brighten in regards to the topic of the City.

Roy then curiosity bowed down to both Kan and gretal, the young spadamon did not see those two before but Roy was never one to shy from meeting new people. "Nice to meet you Kan and Greatal, its a pleasure to meet you two. Any friend of doctor Cas is a friend of mine, I look forward to getting to know you two better." He said with a smile on his face, the thing about Roy is that he is totally genuine, despite not knowing the good doctor for too long he viewed her as a good friend of his.
Kazuya however on the other hand, was more laid back than his very excitable lion knight, the golden eyed man chuckled at Cas's statement she was not wrong at all. "Ha, well this time we will talk without the sweet influence of Alcohol, its good to take little breaks from that stuff. And nice to meet you Kan. " Kazuya said as he extended his hand for Kan to shake it, after the situation resolved itself Kazuya noticed the patamon be a little excited even compared to Roy.
"Oh yeah we never met before the city looks nice but we just got here, my name is Julian the digimon who will become the strongest hero in the history of the digital world." The young kid sounded a little confident in himself, the wide smile on his face was telling, yet he was too lazy to get off Kazuya's head.
The man then decided to explain the whole situation to Cassandra more so than Kan, since he knew the doctor might be confused about the new existence of Julian. "Oh yeah Julian was not with us when we first met Cas, its a long story and I am afraid the details are a bit risky to explain, but to summarize it Julian here is an aspiring hero who wants to study under Royland to become stronger and fulfil his dream." As Kazuya explained the whole situation Julian had a smug and confident smile on his tiny face.

Kan blinked and found himself frowning slowly; he had heard about rosewood cropping up and getting things going but why would they turn away potential settlers in that place? It was too young to harbor any hatred towards others yet. It would be something to look into if... well if he was in the position to even do something like that. Perhaps the situation was more complicated but he didn't know.
"Odd that such a new city would do that, do they really have the choice of turning away potential settlers? Sounds like a mess that needs to be looked into."
He'd shake his head a little bit and blink as Cas then led into the fact she should be grateful for more hands. More hard working digimon; truth be told this place did look better since the last time he had been in here. He'd quietly follow after her with a small curious look.
Then of course there were the new individuals that had arrived. Drawing attention from the matters in a somewhat thankful interruption for the time being. It wasn't always good to focus on the negative or the problems after all. Gretal sported a grin however when Roy spoke about getting to know them better.
"Careful now, we might bite!"
A small chuckle pushed out of gretals lips as kan shot her a small worried look. Kan dipped his head in a nod and took that hand offered for a shake. His grip was quite firm even though he was still recovering; after a simple count of 'one two' the shake would end and the man would glance at the patamon.
"A pleasure I'm sure."
Gretal's eyebrows raised a little bit however when Kazuya explained about the patamon. She'd shake her head slightly at the notion of a 'hero' it was a nice dream to have but ultimately was one that would be frustrating to some. It was better in her eyes to try to protect what you could rather than everything. Then again she wasn't getting paid to protect everything, she was getting paid to protect kan.
"Not a lot of those these days. Mostly just people trying to get by and do what they can to protect who and what they can."
