Ticket to the Moon [Ayumi]

"Ooooh, that must be black opal, quite rare outside of areas with heavy Virus activity! That would make a cool souvenir!" She took the rook, and pulled out her wallet. "Lemme pay, I'm the expedition leader after all!" Once both rocks had been obtained, the three, or rather four, moonwalkers continued down this lively hallway. The air was warm, but not stale, very likely due to the mysterious plants. Soon, they reached a corner with a number of food stalls, offering familiar dishes, and a few local specialities for the brave. "Oh, it smells nice here! Wanna buy a little something to get some energy for our trip to the surface?"

Now hold up just a second, this thing's been found on earth before? And in virus-heavy places? Gosh, that was...actually something Mao didn't know about. Then again, she didn't study the geology of the world as much as her companion here. Moreover, she was actually more than a little shocked at Ayumi offering to pay for her.
"Well, ah...If you insist!" She had no idea how to process that. So, she just...did. Once that was done and they were proceeding onwards, they found a part of the hallway that had offered food. That...was interesting. Familiar plates and new ones alike. "You know what? Yeah, I do. Let's go see what's available here." Mao nodded, before she went off to go look at the local specialties.
Mostly because she didn't know when she'll be here next.

Solomon took the lead as the group looked at the food stalls. Being a gourmet and cook himself, Solomon was often made to choose the restaurant by Ayumi, the girl trusting his well-honed nose. There were many stalls, both offering staples like Yakitori or Ramen, and more exotic fare, like a dish made from a large, silver leaf, filled with minced meat and spices and then fried. This dish made Solomon stop, and sniff. "This...smells interesting. I would like to try this." "Ah, sure! Ah, Mao! You wanna try this too, or would you like something else? Mizu says Ramen is amazing, but I am more partial towards Okonomiyaki!" Ayumi smiled at her. She was so nice to someone she just met!

Mao had no knowledge of this Monodramon actually being an incredibly skilled gourmet and cook. So, she naturally observed Solomon's food sniffing with a look of...Hm. Basically, she had zero idea about how skilled he was. Thus, this looked incredibly strange to her.
The familiar dishes at the stalls, while calming for Mao, were nothing compared to the exotic leaf-meat mix. Buuuut... "Okonomiyaki it is!" The girl stated with a bright smile on her face! Sure, Ayumi was overtly kind to someone who might as well be a stranger, but Mao was someone who liked to do unto others what was done unto her.
This girl had been nothing but kind, if not a little awkward. She felt like she could empathize with that, some. "What about you?"

Ayumi tapped her chin. "Well, I could go for some Takoyaki! Haven't had any since the Osaka Science Fair three years ago! Lemme get us all the food!" So, the pale girl made sure to get the japanese pancakes for Mao, the weird leaf-meat dish for Solomon, and the Takoyaki for herself! The leaf-meat dish smelled *strongly* of herbs, but this just made the stoic dragon's mouth water. Soon, they sat down to eat. "Aaaaah, so far, this has been a great trip, dont ya think so, Mao? Sure, it was low on science, but man, I really love some good food!~"

Mao stifled a snicker. "Three years ago? ...Do you get out much? I mean, I don't. Uh...Sorry if that's rude or anything." Small talk. It wasn't a lot, but it was something. Regardless, it was actually quite gracious of Ayumi to get them -all- of the food. When they went to go sit down, Mao quickly dug in, actually having been quite hungry over the course of the trip.
After a few seconds, she looked up from her pancakes and glanced at Ayumi before swallowing. "Yeah, it's low on science but it's still a pretty introspective look at life on the moon. In the Digital World. I didn't imagine there'd be more to it than just a recreation of our moon, either..."

"Ah, uh, I really don't get out much...mum usually doesn't let me, she thinks I get sun burns whenever I spend even one second too much out in the sun..." She looked at her pale arms. Ah yeah, albinism did come with a heightened sensitivity to sunlight. She seemed rather upset by the thought, so Solomon quickly interjected. "She has been going out more recently, I made sure of that." "Oh, ah, yeah, he did! Whenever I don't have anything to research he insists I show him around the neighbourhood, show him how all the other rich folk live!"
Ah, science, now that was a topic that was bound to improve Ayumi's mood. "Yeah, the Digital World has means of taking the familiar and twisting it into its own unique thing! I find it amazingly fascinating!" She then stuck apiece of octopus into her mouth and chewed contentedly.

"That's fair...Um. I don't get out much either. I don't have much in the way of friends, and I only moved to Shibuya recently. Thankfully, that's one thing that carried over from Kumagaya. Absolutely nothing in the way of a social life." Mao tilted her head. Huh, she wasn't aware that Ayumi's albinism ended up earning her that sort of treatment from her family...
"Bet that sounds pretty fun. Anyways, yeah. You're right about that. Even the inhabitants twist the familiar around. I went on a mission involving a clan of monkeys throwing a wedding and...Yeah, apparently monkey-like Digimon can do that. What's the strangest thing you've seen here?" Mao inquired before she dug into her food some.

Ayumi chewed on octopus as she thought. What was the weirdest thing she's seen here...? "That's. uh, like asking what the wettest fish in the ocean is. This place has a *lot* of weird things. The floating islands of Luminas, the gravity of the planet that works like the gravity on earth yet allows a train to easily reach escape velocity, the existence of Digital Fiah like Digiseabass or Digitrout which do not seem related to Digimon in any way but only seem to exist to feed aquatic Digimon, the random vending machines you find everywhere...needless to say, this place is plenty weird to begin with!"

Mao had a feeling her question was misinterpreted some. "Well, yes. That's true. I...guess I should rephrase my question. What do you THINK the weirdest thing here is? Among all the stuff you've seen so far? For me, it's either the vending machines or the gangster monkeys. Though, I'll concede that the world itself's a huge, huge middle finger to our laws of physics. Floating islands used to be things you only heard of in video games or movies and here they're just commonplace. Heck, there's even a Digimon that's an island in and of itself!"
...She hadn't seen a Ceresmon flying through the sky yet but damn it, she wanted to know if those were real or not. "Sooo...which's your top pick of weird, Ayumi?"

Ah, so the weirdest thing *she* knows? It was an opinion question! How silly of her to not realize! She blushed a bit once again, then tapped her chin. "W-well, in my personal opinion, the weirdest thing is a Digimon so big it is an entire city on its down. Its name is Eldoradimon. I have not been there myself yet, but I have read many books on it. Mostly travel journals, but at least one treatsie on its probably biology! That such a giant being can exist and move without collapsing under its own weight is a physical impossibility that just exemplifies how physics takes a holiday in the Digital World!" Solomon chewed on his own snack. "To me, the weirdest thing is that cacti become tiny fairy women."

It was nice that they were able to clear that misunderstanding up. Mao pushed up her glasses and listened closely for Ayumi's answer, before she nodded towards her. "ElDoradimon...Vemmon's told me some about that. Mainly what everyone seems to know, though. It's been there, alive for as long as anyone can recall."
Speaking of Vemmon, the spirit manifested itself again. "Well, they're not just fairy women, they're literally blooming flowers at the top of the cacti. Now, I've existed for a long, long while...And the strangest thing I've seen in all my years is how there's a creature that runs around dressed as a Tailmon. And nobody punishes it. Or does anything about it. It perplexes and irritates me."
...What was Vemmon talking about? Mao looked to her spirit, then to Solomon and Ayumi, confusion ripe on her face!

Ayumi blinked at Vemmon's description, then groaned. "Yes, I am familiar with that one. I...try not to think about it. I feel like some Digimon were born from Digital Mistakes..." "This is an insult to actual digital mistakes. I have met some nice Numemon and Sukamon in my time." "Yeah, well, that Digimon Vemmon talks about is worse!" She seemed geniunely displeasured about this Digimon, must be a bad one!
Soon enough, though, the food had been consumed. "Okay, now it's time to check out the lunar surface! Let's take a small step for a human, but a large step for digital sciences!"

"Truly a horrifying specimen. One that should never exist. It's like a pox upon the world, like Meicoomon but actually far more harmful." Vemmon continued, before Mao cut in. "I don't...get what he's talking about, can...somebody explain?" She asked, a little sheepishly.
She didn't really like not being in the know about this, especially if it's a digimon they were talking about. Why, she could run into that at any point! Mao rose after finishing her food, and stretched a bit. "Well, I'm ready to look at the surface if you are." Only one problem existed, however...
"...I think we need to find an exit out onto the surface, first. I...uh..." Mao glanced around the area they were in. Stalls, sure, but...where did this tunnel lead?

"This Digimon...eh...it looks like a dude in a Gatomon suit..." "And it has a huge bul-" "I do -not- want to think about it, so don't put the image back into my brain!" Ayumi shuddered in disgust. Solomon shook his head. Must be a terrible suit!
As for the tunnel, well, eventually the stalls ended, leaving the bare metal walls and pipes, until a stairwell led up into another glass dome with a large door opening into the vast plains of the lunar surface. Digimon were walking around there, but most were mechanic or stony in nature. There was a small stall near the door run by a Kokuwamon. "Rebreathers" was crudely written on a sign above the stall. "...well, guess we check that out first!"
