Ticket to the Moon [Ayumi]

Arukenimon giggled, and waved after Mao. She likes cute clients, they make work fun~
As for Ayumi, she was still sitting in the shadow of the dome, wincing as almost every movement of her now heavily red skin hurt. Solomon sat next to her, giving her some of his self-made cookies as a pick-me-up. When Mao emerged from the dome, Ayumi got up, wincing again. "Ah, Mao, you're back! Ah, was it hard to get a suit? I hope you didn't have much trouble because of me..." Solomon got up, too, and stood by his partner's side. He gentle patted her dress, because he was sure that if he actually touched her skin she'd yelp from the pain.

As much as Mao seemed to amuse the Arkadimon, she legitimately left that shop a lot more flustered than when she came in, that much was for certain. She also didn't even know Vemmon themselves could blush, which...actually did a good deal to humanize the inhuman monstrosities in her eyes. Regardless, getting back to Ayumi with the suit was easy enough.
"It...Okay, it kind of was, but mostly because the spider lady that gave me the suit was...um. Kind of flirty...? She was tugging my collar and telling me weird stuff. Like spiders are wont to do, I guess? It wasn't that much trouble though. Here." She offered the suit out to the albino.
"It should fit. I think I did a good enough job actually describing your build and whatnot..."

Ayumi listened to Mao's tale, and blushed at the thought of a flirty spider lady. Though this time it was not visible thanks to the red hue of her sunburnt skin. She took the suit, and with Solomon's help slipped it over her dress, hissing whenever the fabric brushed too heavily against her aching skin. But, soon enough, she was clad in the suit, which was soft enough inside that she could move without causing too much pain. And sizewise, it was a nice and snug fit. Seems Mao had really paid good attention to Ayumi's body. She seemed to brighten up. "Ah, th-th-thank you, Mao, n-n-now we can continue our expedition...!

...Was Ayumi blushing or not? The Vemmon couldn't really tell whether or not she was thanks to the sunburnt skin and she was very much squinting for a moment or two. "...Sorry it took so long, I hope it fits well..." The alien spoke as the albino girl slipped the space suit on with some effort.
Turns out, however, that it actually fit quite well. Something that might have said more about Mao's eye for detail. Or eye for beauty. Really, it was a combination of both that led to this. It even had the benefit of cheering the albino girl back up. "Yes, we can!" The alien replied. "I...uh. I forgot where we left off, though. What were we doing before the sunburn happened...?"

"Ah, we were about to explore the lunar surface, I think!" Her enthusiasm rapidly returned now that she was able to walk the surface without burning to a crisp. She hopped back out of the shadow, and resumed her trek out beyond the domes. And soon enough, she did manage to find some of the silvery plants that they had seen in the tunnel, just growing out of some moondust near a rock. The girl's interest was piqued immidiately. "Aha, native flora! I knew it!" Solomon let out a quiet, monotone chuckle. "Give her something to examine, and her mood turns faster than a sail in a hurricane..."

Simply exploring the lunar surface sounded like a broad endeavor for just three people, now that Mao thought about it. The Vemmon didn't bother to devolve back into Mao. She had already decided to spirit evolve, might as well make the most use of the form she could at the moment.
"Same one from the tunnel. So it grows outside as well...?" Mao glanced up to Ayumi. Oh, right, the form of the alien was admittedly shorter than the albino herself. "Think it might be the same species or some variation that can grow with the sun hitting this place?" The spirit wielder mused while she moved over to the rock to get a closer look.

Ayumi, of course, *wanted* to explore the entire lunar surface, but even she knew that just the three of them couldn't do it. Even Solomon's intense speed at the Mega level couldn't help, as even he would need over a day to circle the moon. So, for now, she decided that the area around the domes was a good sample size. "We cannot know for sure unless we run a digital DNA analysis, but from a cursory glance, I'd say this is a subspecies! After all, a plant that can grow on artificial light would be overwhelmed by raw, unfiltered sunlight!" She gently lifted the fronds of the plant. They moved as if a breeze was running through them, slowly and subtly. "But they certainly also produce oxygen and can do well in the anemic moon dust! Imagine using this plant's hardiness as the genetic basis for new planets down below...we could reforest the desert!"

It was a relief that Mao's efforts to cheer Ayumi up had paid off. All the scientific language she could barely put a finger on was far better than the fact that the poor albino almost got cooked because of their own negligence. "Subspecies, then...Sorry if this sounds dumb or anything, but if it's growing with unfiltered sunlight, wouldn't filtering it cause it to grow differently? If, say, we actually tried to use it as a genetic basis to reforest the desert with, at least."
Mao didn't really mean to put Ayumi on the spot or anything, she was just trying to help figure out what one of the myriad of things that could be done with the plants here was. Mao took a glance back to the Dome, before she opted to pose another question. "...There's got to be plants growing along the walls of the dome, right? Wanna go over there?"

Ayumi blinked. But, she wasn't flustered or anything. In fact, she smiled. "Oh, amazing observation, Mao! I knew you were the best option for a research assistant! You are absolutely correct, it would grow differently in light filtered by the atmosphere! If we use it as base stock for a planetside breed, we would first need to find out how it performs under filtered sunlight, and how we can alter it to work with filtered sunlight as well as with raw sunlight! She rubbed her chin, thinking this over, but was soon pulled out of thought by Mao's suggestion to check out the domes. "You're right! Climbing vines are already hardy planetside, imagine a vine morph of these fronds, they ought to grow like mad! It was your suggestion, so you get to lead the expedition!" She smiled at Mao. It was genuine, if a bit pained from the sunburn.

Huh, so Mao really did know a thing or two regarding science after all. Interesting. "Well, yeah. I figured there's a difference between the two, so introducing that difference would end up causing its growth to be affected, right?" That being said, she agreed with the suggestion that Ayumi had put forth. That, of course, would likely come later.
Mao was also fairly certain that Ayumi putting her in charge of the trip to the Dome was really just because of the sunburn paining her. She didn't blame the girl, really. "Well, I do have claws to grab them with..." She muttered as she began to walk back towards the domes, before taking a detour to the right of one, looking along the walls to see if there were any vines along them. She was hoping Ayumi and Solomon were helping her keep an eye on this, too, considering Vemmon only had a singular eye...

They sure did, as Solomon eventually stopped. "Stop. I found some vines." Ayumi rushed to his side. And, indeed, there were vines. They blended in well with the white of the opaque parts of the dome. They were woody vines, growing the same, feathery fronds of the ground morph. They anchored themselves with darker roots, which slipped into the creases between two wall panels, and grew up to the top of the domes! Their grip was weak, however, as even Ayumi could easily pull one strand loose. "Aha! Low gravity adaptions! I am not sure why the plant would evolve to blend in with the domes, but that is just another mystery waiting to be solved! Any theories, Master Assistant Mao?"

Mao-as-Vemmon paused immediately as Solomon signaled finding some vines, the alien quickly darting to his and Ayumi's sides. After a good few moments of looking? "...Yep. You found vines, alright." Mao noted, the mono-eyed Digimon pausing for a moment to think of a GOOD answer to Ayumi's question, after the albino noted some evolutionary adaptations to the lack of gravity.
"...I actually don't know. Maybe if it didn't have such a weak grip, it'd likely tear from being pushed by...whatever lies here that'd push it off of the wall. There needs to be something more to it, though...If it's so weak, then how was it able to grow along the wall without much trouble?" She wondered aloud, a claw moving to start trying to find a possible source for the plant.
...Then again?
Mao had no idea where vines start to grow.

So Mao had no clue, eh? Well, no trouble! Not everyone had a theory ready at all times. She just gave Mao a smile. "Oh, that is simple! See, we're on the Moon! Gravity is might lighter here! The plant has to spend less effort to fight against gravity, so it saves this energy for other things! On Earth, it'd need a stronger grip of course, but here, a little bit of holding is enough!" She put a finger to her chin, wincing briefly from the pain. "That said, I do wonder if there is anything eating these up here! We know we got native flora, but do we have native -fauna-? A lunar equivalent to the many kinds of Digifish down below?" Her eyes start to sparkle. "You think there are -moon bunnies-??

You know what? That was actually something that Mao had not considered. If gravity were weaker here, then the plant would be able to grip onto surfaces a lot easier, which left energy to be used for other tasks. Though, Mao did have an immediate answer to Ayumi's question. "We could keep looking around for any fauna, that'd be interesting...But, given the absence of water on the surface of the moon, I think looking for fish would require a trip underground."
But, when it came to moon bunnies...Mao didn't have anything to dismiss that. "Maybe this is where the Lunamon species originated? Though, given their relation to Coronamon...That'd raise the question of where -those- came from, too." The Vemmon mused out loud.
"...Oh! Maybe there's moon-based iterations of Terriermon and Lopmon?"
