It was one thing to trip into the Shibuya River. It was also another thing to end up being sucked into the portal it contained as well as a lot of trash. That was something Akemi Amaya had learned not all that long ago. For the unpredictability the portal held, the stench of the trash was not worth it.
In the slightest.
After she got over the shock of all of that, she tried to stand up to find herself...In a rather shiny locale. Islands above the clouds (one of which she was upon) and a shining city of gold in the distance. It didn't take a detective to know she was in the Empyrean Skies...Which was a place that was only accessible via flight.
And she didn't see Anzu anywhere...Where was she? A quick glance around revealed the Tsukaimon keeled over and shuddering in discomfort. "Hey, can we NEVER do that again? This place makes me feel sick..."
"...Right, uh...I can see that. And we need to get down from here..."

When it came to many Digimon, their motives could widely vary. Many Digimon followed their instincts and could be considered wild, whereas others grow and defy their inner nature to take on roles that the Digital World may have not originally intended for them. Not every Vaccine Digimon was a holy saint that pursued justice, and not every Virus Digimon was a machine for destruction. Bias and prejudice of course existed, especially in a place like the Empyrean Skies... but in the end, it came down to what an individual desired. What did Yatagaramon desire? The unrepentant smiting of every diseased creature that plagued the Empyrean Skies. It was second nature to the three-legged crow... She was an envoy of the light, and all the foul denizens were her mortal enemy. She possessed no love, nor hate... only a primal sense of duty. The giant avian glided among the fluffy clouds of this holy land, a bloodlust brewing in the bird. She sensed prey. Without hesitation or mercy, the bird let out a horrid shriek... one that echoed across the sky. She did not know who her new foe was, nor did she care. In the end, this is just the primal struggle of Vaccine and Virus Digimon. Society may have grown, but some held true to the old ways and never could let go.
Yatagaramon is approaching from high above the heavens at a startling speed.

Akemi moved to pick Anzu up into her arms, before she started to move. The Tsukaimon just whimpered in what appeared to be agony. Did just being here hurt that much for her? Well, she wasn't actually in pain. It was, legitimately, all in her head.
However. Before long, both her ears and Akemi's were assaulted by a shriek. A shriek belonging to a bird. A bird that Anzu could only deem a threat. "R-Run. A-Akemi, run, please..." Well, if the usage of a first name was indicative enough? This was dire. Of course, Akemi did have another idea.
"...You're not unable to evolve, right?" "M-Maybe? I don't know, just run!" And run they did.
Yet the Yatagaramon could definitely catch up to them.
They didn't even know what it was.

The holy bird let out a harrowing screech as it soon identified the individual in question that dared invade her territory. A mere Rookie level. Sure the power difference was vast, but the Yatagaramon was not one for fair fights. All Viruses were to be purged.
She cannot be reasoned with.
The crow cawwed aggressively at the Tsukaimon down below... a painful marking seemingly materializing on their skin. The bird's four eyes seemed to register they were being carried by some other individual... Not any they could easily identify. Another Digimon...? She couldn't tell if they were a Virus or not.
No matter. They were just another obstacle. As the bird began to descend downward, she paused briefly and stretched out her wingspan... light gathering in the golden weapons that adorned her wings. It was perhaps a good thing Akemi and Anzu had a headstart... because the resulting barrage of light missiles effortlessly punched holes in the clouds they stood on and creating gaps into the Earth below. Needless to say, one hit from something like that would have been EASILY game over for them right now if they didn't keep moving.
Anzu has been Branded. Yatagaramon unleashed Mikafutsu no Kami around the pair.
[PASSIVE] Brand - Yatagaramon at the start of combat targets an individual, a glyph appearing on their body. Yatagaramon gains a moderate amount of bonus movement speed while moving towards that target and her attacks burn them for additional light damage. Yatagaramon however is only able to focus on the target and is incapable of targetting others unless they are in the way. She can reassign the Brand at a 4 post cooldown OR if the target is defeated/dies.
Mikafutsu no Kami - Yatagaramon unleashes a barrage of light projectiles from the vajra that adorn her wings, covering a wide area and disinterating even

You know, this was oddly familiar to Anzu. The brand, at least. She whimpered and squirmed in her tamer's grip as the vile agent of the light branded her. For Akemi, however...She had read enough Berserk to know where this is going. That wasn't good. "...I think I need to fight that thing or this isn't going to go away."
Not to mention with the crashing of the Mikafutsu no Kami around them, they needed to stop or risk being turned into nothing. Stop, Akemi did. She almost ran right into one of those holes! "...Oh dear." Anzu had stated before she was capable of evolving. Now was the time to test that.
"Oi. Fried Chicken." The bean called out. It was a strained taunt, but one backed by a voice that grew far more menacing in nature as Anzu's form turned into mists in Akemi's arms before flowing out and expanding into the winged form of Mephistomon.
A double-edged sword. Everything she had been feeling before had only grown with the warp digivolution. But regardless, the baphomet flew above Akemi before she decided to begin this fight by uttering a prayer under her breath. A profane psalm that ignited her claw with a multicolored energy that she promptly fired as a beam towards Yatagaramon.
Anzu digivolves to Mephistomon and attacks with Black Sabbath.
Black Sabbath: Anzu’s main mode of attack in this form. One prayer for a festival of death and she fires a colorful blast from her palm. The blast is searing hot and great for destroying the environment around Anzu. One post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Black Sabbath 0/1

Yatagaramon had no care or reason to try and limit the damage on the Empyrean Skies; her sole objective was to delete all viruses, no matter the cost. This was a creature whose sole purpose for living was to strive towards such goal, they having little else to value in their life.
She would do whatever in her power to slay that Tsukaimon.
The Empyrean Sky itself seemed to disdain the Tsukaimon's presence, only growing in intensity with her evolution to Mephistomon. This was natural, for dark Digimon such as herself were shunned in this sacred land...
This did not mean though her presence was an abomination to this locale, unlike what the holy crow seemed intent on. Maybe the demon's soul was blanketed in sin, but a heroic resolve seemed to offer mild relief to the Sky's effects.
The crow screeched bloody murder at the newly-evolved devil goat, she flapping her wings to keep herself aloft... before recklessly divebombing talons first with all three of her legs at Anzu! If those sharp talons didn't look scary-enough, they being enveloped in that same destructive light energy from before was sure to make such an attack sting if it landed. The avian had little to any regards to her own safety, charging through the Black Sabbath blast... with significant damage of course, but she would preen her wounds clean at the battle's end.
Yatagaramon has swooped at Anzu and is using Three-Sun Strike on Anzu, though she took the full-brunt of Black Sabbath's blow. Her Sun Rejuvenation passive is also now active.
[PASSIVE] Sun Rejuvenation - The Yatagarasu is a symbol of rebirth and rejuvenation, and this carries over to Yatagaramon. After taking damage, Yatagaramon gains a mild regeneration for the next turn that roughly regenerates a fifth of the damage sustained.
Three-Sun Strike - A headlong assault Yatagaramon attempts using her light-enveloped talons to shred through all who oppose her. This attack leaves behind a bleeding effect for three turns, dealing steady damage over time. (Cooldown: 3 Posts)

There were two instances of hatred present in the air right now. The Skies' for Anzu, and Anzu for the skies. Come on, you overgrown sack of shit. Show me what you've got. The baphomet thought in regards to the hell raven. As the bird plunged down towards Anzu, the Mephistomon readied her claws and...
Flew straight at her?!
Akemi sure couldn't fathom the strategy behind this, but Anzu did go into this with some semblance of a plan. A self-destructive one but a plan regardless. The tamer hadn't seen her fight in melee much if any, but...There was something that both of them could do. One had cards and the other had melee attacks. Akemi scrambled away from the hole to start rifling through her cards. Something had to work here...
Meanwhile, Yatagaramon's claws struck true, eliciting a shriek of pain from the demon that seemed to carry throughout the area. Sure, she may have just been struck with her weakness...But she was now in close range and capable of retaliation. Though she was also unaware of the boon that the brand granted Yatagaramon. Regardless, those claws of hers glowed a bloody crimson as she attempted to sink them into Yatagaramon. Blood for blood, if you would.
Relevant Passives:
Baphomet: An unholy entity, Mephistomon is healed by any unholy/dark attacks thrown her way. In exchange, holy things hurt her for double damage.
Imperial Decree [Team Ability]: When a member of the Council wants to get a point across, denying that notion is just a bit of a hard task. Council members and abilities performed by them completely ignore the effects of passive defensive abilities that might affect them in any way.
Anzu is harmed by Three-Sun Strike, taking double the damage she normally would for this and beginning to bleed for three turns. However, she retaliates using Recoiling Strike, taking her pain and attempting to force it unto the Yatagaramon.
Akemi starts milling.
Recoiling Strike: Anzu gathers up all the pain she has been dealt in the past two turns, converts into literal energy focused into her claws, and dispenses it accordingly in an attack meant to cause lots of damage to her foe. This is generally meant as a melee attack, but can be fired as a shockwave of sorts by striking the ground. Three turn cooldown.
Cooldowns: Black Sabbath: 1/1 Recoiling Strike: 0/3

One thing that was made quite clear here... Neither Ultimate level had little to any regard to their own personal safety. Sure the Yatagaramon's attack was aimed true, sinking into the fem goat's flesh with a horrid pain that would wrack through their body... but could it compare to the gore that Anzu would soon inflict on the crow?
Honestly, the Yatagaramon didn't know what hit her. Sure the Mephistomon took heavy damage... but all that meant was that the resulting claw strike back was nothing short of devastating. One single blow was all it take to gib the crow's left wing into data, causing her to shriek in agony.
The fight was perhaps going to end quicker than initially intended...?
Yatagaramon was intent on making sure she was the victor.
The avian's four sapphire-blue eyes gleamed as she aimed her three legs to try and grapple whatever limbs they could manage on the demonic entity... Akemi able to quickly catch a giant swirling hellhole being torn out of the space behind her partner, and more horrifyingly... the Yatagaramon actively attempting to push them into it.
Yatagaramon was using ALL of her strength to try and shove Anzu into the portal... the air crackling with power from the rift's mere presence.
The Recoiling Strike dealt extremely heavy damage to Yatagaramon, enough to outright destroy one of her wings! Recognizing its terrible condition, Yatagaramon called upon its Golden Gate and is aiming to shove the Mephistomon into it!
Golden Gate - An attack that is comparably described as "dragging the foe to hell"; Yatagaramon in a last-ditch effort creates a giant portal of celestial energy a distance ahead of her and tries to viciously grapple her foe, attempting to outright push them into the portal. A foe targeted by this attack will need to struggle out of her clutches, or else dire consequences will occur... Anything shoved in will take cataclysmic damage and potentially be outright vaporized if they are weak enough. (Cooldown: Once Per Thread)

Anzu rarely ever got the chance to engage in melee with someone, but when she did it was usually quick and brutal for one party. Usually her. This time, though? This time, it was brutal for both combatants. Anzu suffered an insane amount of damage, sure, but the 'bleed' incited by the previous attack from the crow took effect in the form of...Bits of Mephistomon's frame literally sloughing off and turning into dust.
Akemi did see that gate and...Well, she did find a card she wanted to see the effects of. Algorithmic Reach. That gate, as far as she knew, posed a huge threat to Anzu. But also, to the raven. Maybe something could be made of this. Meanwhile? Anzu growled before the goat tried to grapple with the avian in an attempt to shove her into her own attack. Effectively, this was a stalemate. Until, something that could possibly turn the tide was presented in the form of...
"Digi-Modify: Algorithmic Reach, activate." A cold first from Akemi, really. She slid the card through her D-Arc and watched as the exposed wireframe portions of Mephistomon were replaced with writhing vines that aimed to wrap around Yatagaramon and aid in pushing her into the portal.
Anzu tried shoving Yatagaramon into the Gate! Akemi swipes a card!
JT-33 Card Name: Algorithmic Reach Type: Upgrade Rank: Platinum Duration: 3 Posts Effect: Vines sprout from the target Digimon's body, writhing around like those of Algomon. They are strong yet flexible, whether used to whip at opponents or to grapple with them.
Cooldowns: Recoiling Strike: 1/3

Yatagaramon thought victory was overall assured. She was heavily damaged, but so was the fiendess... and her grip was firm on Anzu's frame. All she needed to do was shove the Ultimate level into the gate, and the fight would be over. Sure she was half-dead, but it didn't matter if the virus died first. She would be victorious[/b].
At least... she thought she would be victorious. With how she was pushing back the Mephistomon's own attempts to shove her into her own attack, there really was no way that Anzu's own efforts would work... Had it not been for Akemi's efforts, things could have gone very poorly if Anzu faltered even slightly.
With Anzu gaining vines that reinforced their own grip on Yatagaramon, the bird seemed to for a moment panic as their own grip on the Mephistomon was torn off (albeit causing some mild damage from her talons raking across their flesh)... All it took one bit of momentum for the baphomet to slug the crow backwards, and into the rift. With no way to actually slow herself, the crow screeched bloody murder before vaporizing into data on contact from their own technique.
For once, Yatagaramon found peace.
Yatagaramon was yeeted into Golden Gate, being deleted in the process.

Akemi's gambit with her card proved fruitful in ensuring that her partner did not meet another bitter end. The Mephistomon found herself facing further pain from the talons raking across more of her flesh, but the vines helped her. They helped her overpower this beast. They helped her WIN.
The vines dissipated upon releasing the crow and Anzu could only watch with a pained satisfaction as Yatagaramon met a swift end by her own hand. She drew a spell in the air to load some of the data before she found her grip on her digivolution slipping.
And in the span of a second, there was a Tsukaimon that was just as torn up as the Mephistomon descending. That was Akemi's cue to run in and catch the falling bean!
"...Nice card..." The Tsukaimon muttered. She did say something else but it was practically indiscernable. Akemi just knew that they had to keep moving to get out of this mess. Maybe a way down existed somewhere here?
Anzu loads some of Yatagaramon's data before dedigivolving. Akemi LEGS IT.
[Exit...?]
