Blackened Sky [Carlo&Dio/Eris]

Right, she had not forgotten about her friend Alpha. Frankly, Carlos would have rather taken her straight to her home, since that required less searching on their part...but she clearly cared a lot about finding her missing friend, there was no way he'd say no to her about such a thing.
"Sure, we can help you look for them. A silver Dorumon, right? Should be easy enough to find, Dio here has a great sense of smell." He reassured her with a smile. Dio, perhaps wanting to regain some of his lost pride, perhaps wanting to make Eris feel at ease (or perhaps both) simply chuckled a bit to himself.
"Hah! Of course, the Dark Lord Dio would have no trouble finding anyone. I'll chase them to the ends of the world if its necesary!" He proclaimed, his voice filled with nothing but confidence and arrogance.
It wouldn't last, as Eris quickly closed the distance, and began interrogating him about...the color of his face?
"Huh?" At first Dio was just plain confused by this, until he realized what she meant. Almost as on cue, his face seemed to only grow more and more red. The imp hated whenever his blushing was put on the spotlight. Demon Lords didn't blush, god damnit! It was unfit of him to do so! "W-what are you talking about? What colors? I feel fine!"
It was also clear nobody believed a word he was saying...or at least, Carlos didn't, as the man could be heard making muffled chuckles, trying his best to not burst out laughing. Dio could only cover his face in disbelief. Had he known it was "make fun of the Dark Lord" day, he would have taken his chances with the storm some more. With an annoyed huff, he'd reach down to pick up the fallen bean, holding her close to his face as his face practically glowed red with anger and embarrasment. Mostly the latter one.
"Hmph, and what about you? The only one that seems sick here is you with your constant sneezing!"

This close Eris could pick out the flecks of gold in Dio's green eyes. Her own sky blue ones wide and guileless as she blinked at him in confusion. Unsure what she had done to upset the Impmon. Though she thought this sudden treatment of herself was awful unfair. After all she'd just been worried about him, but maybe Dio was just being grumpy again and needed someone to show that they cared? "It's ok Dio-Dark-Lord-Sir. When I don't feel well my cousin Vivian kisses the ouchies away." She explained reaching out with one paw to gently pet his nose before leaning in and pressing a tiny kiss to the tip of it with a soft "Mwah!" "There!" She murmured beaming at him. "All better," Eris added before she promptly accidentally sneezed right in the Impmon's face. The little Gigimon looking as startled as Dio likely felt before she let out a soft sniffle. Apparently it was perhaps more then dust causing her sneezing.

The entrance to the labyrinth that this daring du- no, trio? Yeah. Trio. Whatever. They had decided to linger here to hide from the storm. It was a pretty smart move, sure. Except they (understandably) didn't seem to check if they were alone or anything.
At least, that's what the stranger thought. Far enough from the group, he was. And the three could hear footsteps approaching them as the darkness was illuminated by flames to reveal an Agunimon with a small wisp of flame in his palm. Intimidating as he may have seen, the question the warrior of flame posed was at least a genuine one.
"...What are you doing?" For all the stranger knew, this was just an in-training trying to make two others feel better about something. While a storm raged outside.

Despite his best efforts, being this close to the small bean was making it oddly hard for Dio to stay mad. And before he could even question why, Eris once again did something that utterly confused and surprised the imp. Being pat on the nose was already unexpected. Being given a kiss too? To put it simply, was completely disarming. Dio's blushing reached critical levels as his face seemed to scrunch up a bit, as if he was making an effort to keep frowning instead of...well, looking absolutely flabbergasted. What was this warm, cozy sensation he was feeling deep in his core?
Even the ensuing sneeze did little to more to change his expression, though he would sigh a bit and try to use his bandanna to clean up his face, still holding on to the bean with one hand.
"The dark lord appreciates the gesture." He replied, softly patting the gigimon on the head.
Damnit, he was the Dark Lord, how was a kid like her affecting him so much? Was this her power? Was her cuteness generating a field that inhibited clear logical thinking and replaced it with a feeling of general giddiness?
Before he could do more about it, a voice rang out close to the trio, startling both Dio and Carlos. Right, it was probably silly for them to assume such a big place would be completely deserted.
"Who goes there?" The impmon said, glaring at the newly arrived digimon while instinctually holding the gigimon closer to him, as if to protect Eris from any possible danger. Truth be told he didn't even do it consciously, it came naturally to him, as if...he had done so before?
Carlos meanwhile, was quick to get up, slowly inching closer to Dio while never taking his eyes off from the Agunimon.
"Easy there, we're just staying here until the storm passes, we don't want any trouble." What he was saying was true after all, the last thing he wanted was for things to get out of hand, neither he nor Eris would have a good place to hide if something bad happened due to the crammed space of the room and their only exit leading out to a storm.
But hopefully this digimon would also be friendly?

Eris wiggled happily in Dio's grip. Her little tail lashing back and forth with her joy if a little more lethargically then it had before as the Gigimon sniffled a little. Only to find herself suddenly and quickly tucked against the Impmon's side as another figure approached. Flame lit up the cold dark interior of the stone hallway they had been taking refuge in. The fire dancing in the palm of a new Digimon as the little Gigimon craned her head to peer around Dio's side to blink curious blue eyes up at the newcomer.
"Hi!" She chirped with a blindingly bright smile.
"The sky got really angry and we were looking for a place to hide." The Gigimon quickly explained, "We're sorry. We didn't realize someone else might already be hiding here too." Eris apologized somewhat demurely wriggling a little bit where she was tucked under the Impmon's arms in her excitement to greet and inspect the Agunimon.

"Ah. A storm. I had the feeling one was coming given how...dark it seemed to be earlier in the day." The stranger spoke, casting his gaze between the party again. As though he were searching for something. "I live here. I don't hide. I'm not even in a position to seek a lot of trouble right now, either. I'm only here because I thought I felt an old..." The Agunimon inhaled a bit.
"Friend nearby. Though that...didn't seem to be the case." The warrior held his flame and took another glance around the area. "Where..." He murmured, before his eyes returned towards Eris. The kid felt familiar. Why...
Could that be it? It felt weaker than what he recalled....

It was only logical to assume the Agunimon was telling the truth about living there, but what was this about looking for a "friend"?
"Friend? We haven't seen anyone else in here besides you." Carlos replied, standing just behind Dio. It was mildly amusing to see such a tall man looking for protection behind a digimon that was less than half his size, but knowing what his partner was capable of he'd be crazy not to. "What do they look like?"
Meanwhile Dio's grip on Eris only tightened when he felt her wriggling after greeting so the fire digimon so innocently, possibly trying to break free to inspect the Agunimon closer. He didn't seem immediatelly hostile, but Dio wasn't going to let Eris get close to him just yet. Or ever.
"Well if The Dark Lord sees your "friend" he'll be sure to let them know you're looking for them." Dio said warily, not entirely convinced of the tall digimon's words. And why was he looking at Eris like that?

"Oh~" Eris murmured her voice going soft with sympathy, "Did you lose your friend too?" She questioned her big blue eyes gentle with concern as she canted her head to one side, a familiar gesture, as she observed the Agunimon. He smelled like dust and sunlight and something familiar she couldn't quite name that left her scrunching up her brow in thought before she dismissed such musings for a later time.
"I got separated from my friend Alpha during the storm. He was helping me to get home, but I made some new ones in the meantime." She explained her little tail twitching, "We're sorry for intruding in your home," The Gigimon added, ever polite or at least raised well enough to mind her manners.
"I'm Eris by the way and this is Carlos and Mister Dark Lord Dio Sir." She added quickly introducing them all as she pointed first to her, then Carlos, then the Impmon currently clutching her a little too tightly against his side to the point the Gigimon's scales were smarting a bit.

The stranger shook his head. "I meant friend as in a..." He trailed off. Okay how the hell was he supposed to explain he thought a former friend showed up and he was there to deal with that signal? Furthermore, again, WHERE was the signal? "If a knight like that Gigimon shows up...Let me know."
Yeah, that was probably better. Though, the stranger still felt like he had some clarifications to be making. "My home's further in. This cave's just the...mouth of things. Leads into the Labyrinth proper. I haven't been there in some time--The noises that come from there are...Nauseating, to say the least. Anyways. My name's Ares. I'm...fairly certain that name holds significance amongst your kind somewhere."
He pointed towards Carlos, before looking to Eris. "And where is home?"

The stranger's words, while somewhat unsure, at the very least sounded genuine, though the description of his friend was just a bit vague. A knight like Eris... "You mean like a Gallantmon, correct?" Dio asked.
Indeed, the stranger's name held some meaning to Carlos, though not necesarily the happiest of meanings. "So the same name as the god of war. Fancy." Carlos nodded, more amused by his name than anything else. First Eris, now Ares. What was it with them coming across with digimons named after Greek deities today?
Mentions of "nauseating sounds" aside, the duo had been slowly grown less wary of the armored humanoid, who despite his name was acting rather calm for someone not only named after a god of war, but who also lived dangerously close to a rather unpleasant sounding place. Not nearly as bad as the Dark Area, but still pretty bad. Point was if Ares wanted to hurt them, he probably would have done so already, right? The imp carefully sat back on the stone floor, gently releasing the gigimon from his grip, but still keeping a close look on the Agunimon just in case.

"Ares. That's a nice name." Eris stated beaming brightly up at the Agunimon. "I'm named for the goddess of chaos. My Dad's named for the god of forge and fire. There's this one guy I know named Lancelot, but I don't think he's ever actually read the book it's from cause he's not much of an actual Lancelot." She explained wrinkling her little nose at the thought of the WarGreymon's poor naming conventions, but he was stuck with it now. She personally thought he would have made a much nicer Gawain.
"I'm going to be a knight one day like my Dad." Eris chirped stretching a bit as Dio finally set her down. "Well that or a big dragon like my Mom." She added after some thought as the tiny Gigimon shook herself off shedding dust and water as she resettled her scales. Only to blink up at the Agunimon's strange question. Well she supposed it wasn't that strange. After all she did say she was lost and trying to get home. Maybe he even knew the way!
"I'm from Icy Fate! It's this big fortress on this floating island in the Empyrean skies!" She explained taking a seat next to Dio. Her little tail tapping out a soft thump thump thump against the stone with it's wagging.

"...Precisely like a Gallantmon, actually. But more like the kind with an axe. Except lacking the axe."
Haha, what? He was named for a god of war? "...Heh. That's funny." The Agunimon put on an amused expression, before letting out a low chuckle. "That's actually pretty funny." His bemusement was quickly lost, however. A knight for a father hiding in the skies...Sounded like someone familiar indeed.
This was a bit of a wild guess to make. He only knew Hephaestus. He had no idea who the big dragon was. But the little Gigimon did kind of...
"You're a child of Hephaestus?" The Agunimon spoke, seeming a combination of curious/accusatory in his tone. He looked to Carlos and Dio before jutting a thumb at Eris like 'can you believe this bean.' The realization seemed a little baffling!

Geez, was mythological naming this common for digimon? Well, at the very least they were certainly more deserving of such grandiose names than any human named after a Lord of the Rings character, or at least that's what Carlos thought. He certainly was glad his partner didn't get to pick his name, else he would have probably gone with something needlessly ominous like Mephistopheles or Faust. At any rate, Eris' mentioning some digimon named Lancelot that wasn't too fond of his original namesake was rather amusing to him for some reason.
"So he's not a fan of a womanizing deadbeat dad? Imagine that."
He did wonder what Ares found so funny about the origin behind his name, though it was slightly amusing he wasn't aware of who Ares was until now. Meanwhile, Dio wasn't all to sure what to make of the Agunimon's reaction to Eris' being Hephaestus' daughter. Was Eris' father famous or something? Or perhaps...
"Do you know Hephaestus?" Dio asked, curious.

Eris was torn. On one hand she didn't dislike Ares. He was certainly gruff and smelled like maybe he could use a bath and a few nights not sleeping in a dank maze like dungeon, but he didn't smell bad. Not that Eris was entirely certain what 'evil' of all things would smell like. He seemed grumpy and strange, but he hadn't outright attacked them those his casual dismissal of her as if he didn't believe she was her Father's daughter of all things rankled the tiny Digimon.
Puffing up her little chest the Gigimon's face went solemn as she tried to remember the way her own Father spoke to very important people when he need to ascertain that he was who he as. "I am Eris. Only child of Hephaestus. Daughter of the Dread Dragon Nyx. Ward of the esteemed Order of Icy Fate." Eris recited doing her best to look refined and formal like her Father, but found herself having a difficult time not pouting at Ares for failing to believe her.

Consider those suspicions...Confirmed. "Dread Dragon Nyx..." Only name that the stranger didn't recognize, in fact. "You know what? I believe that. Your signals are similar enough. Yes, of course I know Hephaestus. He used to be a dear friend of mine before we had a falling-out." He said, the latter half in response to Dio. Notably, he did have to stifle a snicker at the comment on Lancelot.
Ares kind of...tensed up a bit at the memory of that. "...Wasn't very pretty. 's also why I'm down here. And an Agunimon rather than an Aldamon. Or KaiserGreymon. Or EmperorGreymon--Really, they're the same." The Agunimon gave off a sigh. "I'm going to cut to the chase, the only reason I came out here was because I thought you were your father. But weakened somehow. Thought I could get some sort of petty revenge."
The fire on his fist briefly intensified before calming down. "That, however, is not the case. I don't have any quarrel with either of you. Only with Hephaestus. I suppose I could at least figure some way out to tell him his bean-shaped child and some friends of the questionable variety wound up at my doorstep.
...Probably see if I can't get him to pay me some bits so I can go find some amenities for this place. Or some food." Was he actually telling them that or just thinking out loud at this point?
