Just how long had it been?
It had been a few days maybe since Shade's last biyomon prey, the wretched weave of feathers and the furious breathing as he coiled his tail around that delectable clutch of data. But the local flocks now had been wised up to him, posting watch birds waiting for those red eyes to appear, waiting for that deeper darkness in places.
Some of them even resorted to small bonfires making it difficult to approach them without giving his position up. Sure shade was capable of fighting one or two of them... but a whole alerted flock? Shade wasn't stupid. He knew what they were capable of if irritated, he had learned the biting drive of a stronger variant on his own time in this jungle. Heck he still had a few feathers of red from that fight, a few of them still in pristine condition. Resting comfortably around his neck on a link of vine. He thought they were pretty, they were nice. Something he could have or use.
All the pretty feathers in the world couldn't feed him though, they were pointless little bits of trash that did nothing to quell that insatiable hunger he felt when not around someone he could feed off of. Emotionally or not he was slowly getting starved out by the denizens here.
So it was when a small data signal grabbed his attention, low to the ground. Slow moving, either by weakness or by caution. But that spoke many different languages to shade. Someone new here wouldn't know about him, something weak also meant something stronger was in the area and fought it. Prompting it to lose.
Trap?
The shadow shook it's head uncoiling from the tree limb that he had been resting on. He'd cast around for a few moments, his eyes whirling, spinning and then focusing up higher. The few vestiges of sunlight creeping through the canopy told him the time.
Well it suggested to him the time, not like the exact hour but he knew it was in the waning segment of the day. Something he could use to his advantage. Grunting softly to himself the shadow would slip into those around him, speeding towards that data signal.
It took him maybe five or so minutes to get into position, a few hundred meters ahead of the prey in question. He'd close his eyes and simply wait in the shadows, occasionally popping one open to check if there was any change. The small clattering of feet drawing his attention and questionably drawing his ire.
Once that clattering of feet was closer Shade would slowly raise himself up from the shadows. Arms hardening together in a sharp array of claws, he'd smile slowly and a few of his eyes would lock on the target in question.
...oh.
He didn't know the species of the thing he set his eyes on; he knew it was lizard-like and knew that they came in a different set of colors. They were young creatures and the older shadow would let out a small disgruntled sigh. He couldn't rightfully eat something like this, it's data signal wasn't large enough to warrant being worth the effort of a proper hunt and it wouldn't give him any actual enjoyment of a hunt or fight.
"...Tiny Morsel..."

The little digimon in question was small and red. Not the soft pink of a Biyomon nor the rusty clay color of an Aquilamon or Birdramon. No the tiny in training Digimon was bright red like fresh data or molten rock, or those small brightly colored bugs who's gleaming shells and flashing colors screamed ' poison' for all the world to see. Big blue eyes only seemed to off-set the starkness of the Gigimon's coloring as seeing the shadows suddenly rear up manifesting claws and eyes the little creature had sat down. Her little tail tip twitching as she peered up at the taken aback Shade with guileless interest. "Hi!" She chirped, perching on her tippy toes to lick the tip of the shadowy creatures nose in greeting before deciding he tasted almost as strange as he smelled. "I'm Eris!" She introduced herself practically radiating excitement and pleasure at their introductions.

An exciteable morsel at best.
Shade scratched at his neck quietly, staring at the gigimon for a long few moments. Slowly sliding out of that shadow so that his entire form was now out of it. He'd be basically looming over the gigimon, though he'd lean and bend over to sort of inspect the smaller digimon.
Her signal wasn't very big, if anything it was tiny compared to his. At least that's what he thought, or immediately sensed. He'd tap his snout a few times and look at the gigimon frowning slowly at the lack of fear from the digimon. Some weren't affected by itt and that was fine, but it was usually stronger mons that had that be the case.
Then the smaller digimon did something he wasn't expecting, perching on the very edge of their feet to lick his nose which caused shade to recoil visibly in surprise. That didn't stop him from however returning the gesture, though his tongue was much longer and probably a little more drooly than the gigimon's.
She even told him her name. The wraithmon furrowed it's brow and slowly sat up drumming it's fingers on his snout for a few times trying to remember what he called himself. He'd stare at the gigimon with a few sets of his eyes thinking this through for what to say and it maybe took him a good five or so minutes of simply 'thinking' before he got fed up with trying to remember and just went with the simplest thing he could think of.
"...Shade..."
He'd lean and inspect the gigimon again, sniffing at them curiously. She didn't smell like anything around here, the smell of fire, brimstone, death and metal was apparent. But she didn't smell like that red either, or the anger from the dark area. No she smelled... pure. Sweet almost.
"...Why here...?"

The tiny In-training Digimon would giggle as he licked her nose right back. Lifting a paw to wipe away any residual drool she'd grin up at him all small sharp baby fangs and big blue eyes waiting patiently for him to respond. Well somewhat patiently. At about the minute mark she'd wandered a little closer deciding he was unlikely to eat her and began sniffing at him and the shadow he'd come out of. At about the three minute mark she'd yawn flopping down on her stomach and rolling onto her back to peer up at him curiously showing off the creamy expanse of her belly scales as she waited for his response. Eventually brightening up cutely at his name. "Shade? That's a pretty name~" She'd chirp dissolving into giggles once more as he sniffed at her his nose tickling her stomach forcing her to catch her breath before she could respond once more. "Oh I'm exploring!" Eris exclaimed waving her little legs up at him before pausing somewhat embarrassed. "And am maybe a little lost. The jungle is just so big." She'd add with a sheepish smile before blurting out. "You have really pretty eyes! I wish I had that many eyes. Can you see really well out of all of them?" The Gigimon would question cocking her head to the side curiously where she peered up at him on her back.

The smaller digimon was somewhat excitable weren't they? He'd furrow his brows and tilt his head slowly. Some of the eyes blinking and some of them keeping an eye on their surroundings. The wraithmon let out a small exasperated sound at seeing the other roll, sniff and yawn. Honestly what was he supposed to do with a mon like this? Eating children type digimon was simply both not worth it and shade frowned on the practice as it was 'nipping the bud' a little too early.
She then called his name pretty, his sniff sending her into a fit of giggles that simply made him wiggle his ears. His frown deepened a little bit when she gave further explanation to why she was here. She was exploring? In the depths of the jungle? Oh.
She was lost
Well that made sense, she was a tiny digimon in the massive expanse. Clacking his teeth he'd lean down to help her roll over if she needed it. His tail coiled around the both of them in a long loop, giving her still plenty of space to move about but he wasn't about to let her wander off on her own.
"Exploring. Lost... It is big."
Shade would have to agree with her on that one, the jungle was huge. He still had yet to explore all of it himself and there were some places he wouldn't go into because of the mons that lived there. Then she addressed his eyes. Slowly and gently he'd tap near the largest eye that was on his chest.
"Best."
He'd tap at some of the smaller ones, the medium ones and some of the ones that were sort of half open. He'd clack his teeth together and consider briefly. He could technically see out of all of his eyes without a real problem, but there were some that required him to focus a little more.
"Yes."
His answers were short, his explanations shorter and his motions increased a little bit. He'd ease his tail away from the both of them preferring to sit on it after talking with her for so long. It'd coil in such an effect that made it easy for him to look 'comfortable'. He'd ask a question, it was short, halting and he'd trail off after a bit as though collecting his thoughts.
"If... exploring and... Lost. In big jungle. Trying to find way out?"

With Shade nosing at her side Eris would reluctantly roll back to her feet her little ears flapping at him as she regained her balance seeming perfectly content within the makeshift nest of his tail. Though she'd watch with interest as he coiled it beneath himself to form a seat. The little Gigimon glancing between his tail and her own curiously seeming to ponder if she could figure out how to do the same. In the end she settled for sitting down and clutching her tail like one would a stuffed animal. Nervously chewing on the tip as she cocked her head up at the Wraithmon and slowly nodded her agreement.
"Yeah. I was on a path, but I think I got turned around and then there was no more path and this Biyomon screamed at me so I ran and now I'm here." The Gigimon explained not a single breath taken between her words leaving the sentence to run on in a nervous stream before she came to a stuttering halt chewing on her tail once more as she hugged it tight clearly a bit more distressed over the whole ordeal then she let on.
"I don't like birds. They were really mean." She mutters under her breath.

The little mon explained herself further, how she was turned around. That there was no more path and there was a biyomon that had screamed at her. He'd furrow his brow slowly, those unopen eyes seemingly scrunching in thought. He'd lean and twist his head inspecting the smaller digimon for a few moments. Imitative. Smart. Fast. A few things he could see immediately. To any hunter of any sort they would consider this a protege. But the overwhelming scent of another pushed any thoughts of that aside. She was cared for, loved by something.
Something strong
But if something strong learned of him stealing away their child? They would come. But if the same strength learned that they helped? Well... Perhaps he would get lucky in that sense. Drumming the fingers again the wraithmon scowled.
"Frightened birds. I am a hunter. I hunted them. They are scared of something new. You are new. Do not... worry."
He'd lay it out plainly reaching down to slowly re-assure the gigimon with a gently rub of a weightless hand. If she so allowed he'd even go so far to pat between those ears of hers. Frowning slowly he'd slowly retract the hand.
"Know where that is. Not safe at night. Take in morning yes?"
The wraithmon let out a small sigh and looked upwards. It was still early enough to where he could make it to the edge of the jungle with Eris with no problem. But making it back to his home before the night creeped in? That was extremely unlikely. And while he was a being of the darkness without some light a lot of his abilities would make it difficult for the smaller mon to keep up with him.
"Take to home. Make nest for night?"

Eris would let out a low thrum at Shade's gently petting. Leaning her head lightly into his touch and going so far as to nuzzle his palm. Her scales were small, smooth, and soft like silk under his hand. No scars or roughness marring her hide and her ears wiggled happily at his touch. The little Gigimon nodding her understanding though she blinked up at him curiously as he mentioned he was a hunter.
"You can eat birds?" She questioned curiously, sure the Biyomons had smelled kinda yummy and she was hungry, but they didn't look like food to the tiny digimon who had only ever seen her meals pre-processed. Though she seemed to brighten up at the idea of making a nest.
"I'm really good at making nests! I make the best nests!" Eris chirped remembering her various pillow forts and blanket forts, and paper forts. She wasn't supposed to make paper forts anymore even if her Uncle Logane had gotten a kick out of it and thought the whole ordeal was hilarious.
"I don't mind waiting till morning. Though we'll need a lot of stuff to make a nest for both of us. You're really big." The little Gigimon exclaimed beaming up at him.

The smootheness of her scales wasn't lost upon the wraithmon. It spoke of a small controlled life, one that was just starting. It made him frown slowly as he recalled that he never had something like that. Not until he got stronger. More marred. Weightless. He'd blink a few times and shift slowly drumming those fingers on his snout.
"Yes. You can too. Hard though. Small."
Shade brought to hands together indicating just the size difference between him and the Gigimon. He'd blink quietly and think to himself for a moment slowly standing up and uncurling that tail of his.
"Good. Then we go?"
He'd scratch at his neck, gazing down at the gigimon. She seemed to think that he needed a nest. It was amusing to him and he'd let out a small rumbling chuckle that sounded more like a pot brought to boil than an actual laugh.
"Nest is home. Not need nest. Have things for warmth."
He'd split out another set of arms and sort of make the motion of a big blanket with the four that were there for a moment before one of his hands extended down to her without the rest of his body moving along with it. It was easily large enough for the Gigimon to sit in it comfortably.
"Should... take hour to nest."
Shade scratched at his snout again, mulling it over. With him being the one doing the walking maybe it'd take even less. Well he wasn't really walking even. More sliding along the ground than anything... Well. Walking sliding... whatevering. It was his fastest mode of transportation outside of just taking the smaller mon into the shadows with him. If the biyomon scared her, well that would probably scare her too.

"I'm stronger then I look. I could catch things. Maybe. With practice." The little Gigimon chirped, but didn't hesitate in clamoring up into Shade's palm. Circling twice before she settled down in the middle of his hand wrapping her tail around herself as she peered up at him with inquisitive unexpectedness. Eyes wide at the idea of big fluffy blankets and a giant, at least to her, nest. Though more curious still about Shade's sudden extra set of arms.
"This is so cool! How'd you do that? Do you think I could do that too?" Eris murmured and gasped nosing at the Wraithmon's palm and fingers as she inspected his new limb up close and personally. Finding it didn't smell much different then the rest of him. Like midnight dew, earth, and something that could only be described as darkness. A sort of loamy earthy scent, but not at the same time.

Shade paused when the gigimon chirped out that she could catch things with practice. He'd lean down and inspect her, sniffing at her for a few long moments. She could indeed be a strong hunter, she could be just about a strong anything. A guard? A fighter? Perhaps like the forager...
"You... smell like fire. Should be with fire. Hunter... would be waste... Can teach you how... hunt. But... not all hunt."
It was hard for him to really explain it out as well as the blackgatomon did to him. He'd clack his teeth thoughtfully and slowly slide along the ground. His 'sturdy' passage through and around the trees made them look like they were simply sliding on by. Then came that question. It'd make the shade halt and he'd look down at her furrowing his brow, making his closed eyes scrunch a bit.
"Could... maybe...? Shade always... could do."
He'd mumble a bit and slowly continue on, it'd take them maybe an hour of travel to actually get to his home but when they did it... Was extremely dark in the cave he was taking her to. But rather than just go on in he'd set the small gigimon at the mouth of it.
"Will... fire.. Wait."
The wraithmon slid into the darkness of the cave and inside of it things could be heard being moved around. Mumbling to himself he'd strike a match three or four times before it'd light. He'd then turn to a fireplace in the center of his little 'abode' and light that up. He was quick about blowing on fire itself to help it gain strength, not so much that he'd put it out.
With the fire up and going several things could be seen at once. A snowglobe of some place called 'chicago' that was sitting carefully next to a swath of blankets. A empty picture frame with golden and copper trim... A large sack that had some wooden toys peeking out of them sitting a good ten feet away from the fire and some containers that smelled like salted meat.
This was his home.

"Oh my Dad. He smells like fire." Eris chirped her eyes widening with understanding even as she yawned nodding her agreement. "I miss my Dad." She'd mumbled watching the world slide by with interest as they traversed through the jungle only blinking up at Shade to tilt her head thoughtfully at his explanation. She supposed that made sense. She couldn't really explain how she could wreath her fangs in flame she just did it.
Though she was quick to comply in hopping off hi hand as he set her down to go inside his abode to light a fire. Not that Eris really needed it to see, but Shade was already gone before she cold explain such. Though it was starting to get rather cold and before either of them knew it Eris as following the Wraithmon inside on his heels. Leaving him to turn to find the little Gigimon sitting right behind him as he went to collect her. Her eyes wide as she took in the sight of his home her little nose twitching as she wandered over to gently poke the bag of wooden toys. Cocking her head curiously to the side as if trying to piece more together about her new friend from his abode.
"It's a very nice house Mister Shade!" She exclaimed beaming up at him brightly even if with her exhaustion it lacked her usual thousand watt shine.
