Exploring the Server Woods was something of a hobby now for Owen the Gaomon and his son Bezil the Gumdramon. Their roaming familiarized themselves with the land further and further out from town of Rosewood, their new home.
Occasionally they were bothered by wild digimon and bandits, but, with Owen able to evolve to Mega, they were able to be dissuaded from harrying them with more than a few nasty words, which did nothing to them in the end.
Today, they would be approaching the Spartan Training Grounds, a forest arena not far from the Village of Beginnings. Owen and Bezil had been here a few times, but hadn't really explored the surrounding lands of the place. For this purpose, for convenience of travel, the two of them had hired a lever-operated railcart from Rosewood that would carry them through the extensive network of Trailmon tracks in the area. It wasn't normally a problem, just they had to avoid the main lines where Trailmon still travelled. Owen was dressed in his normal khaki tunic with the 7/71st unit badges on his shoulders, and Bezil in his normal red vest.
"Hm. I wonder where those tracks lead, dad?" Bezil asked, noticing a spur from the Trailmon railroad that led somewhere into the woods. The two of them often enjoyed following the tracks, it was always interesting where they ended up. Sometimes they could find caches of old supplies that could be brought back to Rosewood. Sometimes they found resources such as springs and quarries. Sometimes they even found mysterious abandoned villages that held exciting secrets.
It was a little bit of a spooky setting down this branch line. Other than the clattering of their cart, Owen and Bezil heard little other than the wind howling through the bare trees, leafless from the chill of winter. The tracks were overgrown with weeds and were rather rusted too, but they pressed on. There was little that could frighten these two.
Eventually, they came across a setting that made the dog and dragon digimon curious. The tracks began to branch off into something of a marshalling yard. And here, in the middle of the forest, they found a large assortment of abandoned Trailmon carriages in varying states of dereliction. Old wooden ones that were nearly falling apart from rot; rusted metal ones too. Some were in better condition though.
"Now this is interesting" Owen remarked, pulling the brakes on the cart and came to a halt. "Hmm... some of these look like they could be repaired and brought back into use" he mused. "What do you think, mate?"
"Yeah... could be worth it!" Bezil agreed. However, he smelled something... familiar. He sniffed the air. Owen did too, and came to the same conclusion.
"Looks like we're not alone here" he said. Bezil concurred. Owen would then cup his paws to his mouth and call out. "Hello!! Is anyone here?!" he asked.

If there were any pros about working at a bar, it's that the hours after your shift tend to be spent adventuring. At least that was what the Dorumon and the Ryudamon thought as exciting to do after they had gotten off work. This time, their adventures took them out to the woods and following an old train track they had found.
It lead to a...graveyard. Kind of spooky, at least Fuu thought so. Bu thought it was metal. "Man. They just...go out here to die? Or do they get hauled over afterwards?" The Ryudamon spoke, wandering towards one of the carriages and giving it a tap. "D-Don't do that...You don't know if o-one might be a zombie or not..." Fuu murmured, before someone called out, asking if anyone was there.
The twins remained silent for a few moments. "Hey. Hey, Fuu." Bu whispered. "Do your Dorimon voice, it'll be funny."
"...I'd rather be shot dead." The fox replied, something that elicited a sigh from the Ryudamon. Now was the time to use one of her lesser known talents. She called out, "H-HEWWO? M-MISTEW EWECMON IS THAT YOUW?"
It was a horrific cacophony of a voice that honestly made Fuu crave for death.

This indeed was a graveyard of sorts, but not necessarily a haunted place. When a Trailmon or Locomon faded away or was destroyed, quite often their carriages remained. Very few Trailmons were happy to be coupled to their fallen brethrens' rolling stock, so the carriages that were left behind were led to quiet, rarely used parts of the railroad network, and left to rest in peace. That was the case on this particular line after all. And, over time, it had been too full to continue to be used any further, so it was left to fade away over time.
Owen and Bezil had no idea what to make of that voice. It was a high pitched squeak with a speech impediment. The Gaomon and Gumdramon exchanged confused looks with their matching yellow eyes before Owen called out again.
"Not Elecmon! We're a Gaomon and Gumdramon, from Rosewood!" he called back. "Mind showing yourselves so we can introduce ourselves?!"
There was something eerie about this place. Bezil pondered the significance of it while they were waiting.
"There's no such thing as ghosts is there, dad?" he asked.
"There is, Bezil" Owen answered. "But don't worry, most of them are harmless. And those that aren't, we can hold them off". For the moment, they'd wait until they knew who they were dealing with here, standing near their cart in the yard, eyes and ears sharp for signs of movement.

"Wait, they're n--...Oh no, they don't get my joke! Rats!" Bu put her claws to her face in exasperation. Fuu let out an audible sigh. If she allowed this to keep up, Bu was going to end up making this get even dumber somehow, she just knew it. So, the Dorumon steeled herself. Steeled her dignity, hardened her resolve, doused her nerves, told the anxiety to shut the fuck up, and...
Ran in the direction she heard the voices. Well, not ran but she did walk in that direction, Bu quickly following her. "Hey, what gives?" The samurai asked. The fox merely replied, "Doing something right." Either way, Owen and Bezil would see a Dorumon and a Ryudamon. The former finally spoke.
"Hi, um. I'm Fuu. The moron's Bu."
"I came out here to have a good time, and I feel so attacked right now." Bu's reply was about as dry as British humor.

Eventually they were met by two other digimon. One was a Dorumon, and the other, a Ryudamon. For a moment, Owen and Bezil thought it might be Hikaru, but, these two were both female, so that couldn't be the case. At least the Dorumon's voice differed from Hikaru's anyway.
"Heya. I'm Owen, this is my son Bezil" Owen would tell them. "Honestly we weren't expecting to see others in this part of the forest. Nice to meet you two".
Bezil waved, then, noticed there was something he recognized in these two. Not that he remembered seeing them before, just... a kind of air about them that he felt similar to. It was difficult to describe. Sometimes his beast and dragon senses could clash with each other and make him pick up all sorts of weird things, but, with these two, he felt that he had to just ask.
"There's... something familiar about you two" Bezil admitted. "Have we met before? In the Village of Beginnings or Rosewood maybe?"
"Considering that we're not too far from either, that's something of a possibility, mate" Owen agreed, then for some reason frowned as Fuu called Bu a moron, as though someone close to him was being insulted. "Now now, no need for that language" he'd say in a firm tone, but not an angry one, which was odd, given that he didn't recognize these two either, yet... also felt something familiar about them. Still, he'd put that to one side for now.
"So then, about how long have you two been here? We just got here. Anything you've discovered about this place so far?" he asked, curiously.

"...If I were being honest, um, we weren't expecting others out here, either. We kind of just stumbled here on accident." The yellow-eyed fox explained. Upon being asked if they had met before, both the Ryudamon and the Dorumon were stumped for an answer. Sure, there was an aura of familiarity about Owen and Bezil, but...
They had no memory of them. Though, the ruby-eyed Ryudamon quickly stepped up. "Hey, hey, lay off of her, she's not -that- wrong. I ain't really that bright! Besides, it's like...sister stuff." She at least knew that Fuu didn't like to talk a lot, so she was far too used to just trying to dismiss being called dumb.
"We've been here for the past few hours and we haven't really found anything aside from the theory that Trailmon come here to die. But if they do that, then..."
"Then where does the data go?" Fuu suddenly interjected.

Owen gave a smile at the two digimon as they admitted their story was the same. "That's alright. Since Rosewood got built, lots of parts on this forest are getting mapped and explored. Guess we double-booked this spot, eh?"
Then there was an awkward silence at the question of familiarity. For a moment, Owen felt he was at the cusp of something, but, just failed to figure out what it was. He turned to Bezil for a moment, exchanging looks in their identical gold-colored eyes, then Owen looked back at Fuu.
"...Wait now..." Owen said, suddenly seeing something he hadn't noticed before. He looked quickly between Bezil and Fuu's eyes. Then something came to him. Bezil's eyes were the same color as Owen's. and Fuu's eyes were the same color as Bezil's. So, that could mean...
Not Necessarily. There could be more things at play here. Putting that to one side for now, Owen realized he was probably being a bit rude in presuming the nature of Bu and Fuu's relationship. "Ah, sorry about that". He didn't mean to randomly come across as a bossy big-nose just for being taller than most of the digimon present.
Then Owen looked at the Ryudamon, and he gasped. Those eyes... they were the same color as Hikaru's. That Fuu had his yellow eyes, and Bu had Hikaru's red eyes... their scents smelled familiar. They didn't seem to have been here very long. Owen had been with Hikaru recently... could this mean...?
Scents never lied. But Owen had to be sure here. He cleared his throat and looked at the two digimon. "My apologies for being nosy, but, how long ago was it that you two left the village of beginnings?" he asked. If they answered within his suspected timeframe, the Gaomon would probably be very happy indeed at the implications.
Bezil meanwhile didn't seem to be quite as hooked on as his father was and simply answered the question that was asked. "Well... from what I can see, seems the carriages remain after the Trailmons pass on" he said. "I don't know why that is. Maybe we should ask a few Trailmon perhaps?" he suggested.
All logical, which made Owen give a satisfied nod, but still, concerns like that kinda felt secondary here.

"Huh, that's true...Rosewood isn't too far off, isn't it?" Bu emitted a loud hMMMMMM, and tapped her chin. Something that prompted Fuu to do the same. "Maybe running into people more often does have a cause after all." The fox muttered. As the silence descended upon the group, she wandered over towards another decommissioned locomotive and wiped some moss that had been gathering on the side. There were serial numbers upon it's side.
"...Numbers..." She muttered. Meanwhile! "It's good! Uh, how long...?" The Ryudamon turned around. "Hey, Fuu, when'd we leave the village again?"
"Ummm...Five months ago. Why?" The fox replied. Bu raised her arms! "'Cause this guy wants to know!" The Ryudamon then turned around again. "I get it, it's because you're a dog! Fuu gets nosey too sometimes, it's pretty funny."
Speaking of Fuu, she had more or less taken to scratching off moss or anything on the sides of Trailmon carriages to see what they held. "Hmm...Yes, maybe we could ask someone at the city about this..." Was she saying that in response to what Bezil said? Definitely.

Owen stroked his chin at that answer. "Hm, so you haven't been to Rosewood?" he asked them. Yet they had heard of it. So they were residents of the forest.
"Aw man, you've gotta go and see it!" Bezil said, eagerly. "It's the best place in the Timberlands! There's restaurants and pâtisseries and a big park with nice gardens... then there's a new entertainment district and places you can learn things... dad's a teacher there, he helps out young digimon with learning combat and survival skills... although if you've been living out here all this time you probably would be okay with that, huh?"
Owen too looked at the numbers on the carriages. "Hmm... I might write those down actually" he said, reaching into his pocket for a notebook and pencil, marking down the numbers in question. Maybe those might mean something to a Trailmon or a Locomon?
So, it seemed Bu and Fuu were out of the village five months ago. "Ah, okay, guess we haven't met there, I left two and a half years ago" Bezil said. That made Owen frown a little in thought. If not Rosewood or the Village of Beginnings, where would he have met these two? He was sure they had, they seemed so familiar...
"Heh, does she now?" the Gaomon asked, amused. "Nothing wrong with that I s'pose..." he was still curious. "If I could be a little more nosy, would you two... have any memories you can't put your fingers on? Like... fighting in battles you weren't there for, or... being on an island" he then remembered the island. Bezil and Logan remembered it too. An island, lost long ago in a cataclysm. Owen remembered that place, and it seemed some of his children obtained data from those days, so they remembered images from it too. If they did, it would confirm his suspicions.

"No sir, we haven't!" Bu confirmed that pretty quickly, before she turned to Bezil. Man. That was a lot of stuff to be saying about a settlement they hadn't seen. Perhaps they should actually stop by there after this? Food for thought. Fuu, meanwhile, continued to take note of the numbers.
Why wasn't she writing them down? Perhaps she was that confident in her memory to recall at least one of these. Plus, Owen had been starting to mark down numbers himself. Bu, meanwhile, gave a nod towards Owen! It was enthusiastic in nature. "Oh...Uh. Memories like that."
...Why did she feel uncomfortable about that? Fuu had overheard that and just froze. "B-Battles, huh..." The Gaomon appeared to have struck a chord. "...We both have dreams about that." Bu began, breaking a short silence. "Images of an island neither of us are familiar with." Phantom pains. Battles they never understood.
The next utterance came from Fuu. "Why?"

"Good memories? Heh, that's the way" Owen said, somewhat proud of hearing of this trait. Wait, why was he proud? He didn't know these two. Unless... that lingering suspicion at the back of his head was confirmed.
Then what they said next made him stare as it all fell into place. Their scents, his beast senses were acute enough to pick up that they smelled similar to Hikaru, Logan, Haku and Bezil. Their eyes looked familiar too. And now their memories, that they too remembered the island like he and Hikaru did. The time seemed accurate, six months ago, Owen was with Hikaru in their pub in Terminus City. This had to mean the thing he suspected.
"Well... I remember them too" Owen said to them, kneeling down so the bigger digimon saw them at eye level. "I fought in them. Another digimon did too, Hikaru... he's my fiance".
"I remember as well, even though I didn't fight in them" Bezil admitted, then the Gumdramon realized. "So that must mean..."
"Bu, Fuu... I think that you two are my daughters" Owen finally said to the digimon, wondering what reaction they would have to this. He hoped it would be true. The Gaomon made an awkward smile... if confirmed, that would be wonderful. His first daughters... but it would need to be backed up first.

The red-eyed kabuto dragon was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she wasn't an idiot in the slightest. She was starting to pick up on something. Bu may not be as astute as Fuu was but...She had been starting to suspect a relation between them and the Gaomon (and Bezil too).
"You...fought in them?" The yellow-eyed Dorumon inquired, before she raised a brow at Bezil. And with Owen's next words, a suspicion that both twins were fostering had been confirmed. A relation did indeed exist between the four present.
Family.
Nevermind how odd it was that three of them had memories they couldn't explain, Bu had something pretty apt to just ask. "...Hey, Fuu, did we just get a dad?"
"I guess...? I mean, I believe it. And a brother too." And then -that- made Bu do a fist pump! "Fuck yeah!" "H-Hey, watch your language!"
They seemed like they were processing the fact of the matter.

Owen confirmed the question with a nod. "Yeah, I did" he said, trying to repress the emotions that came with remembering the fact that he had tried so hard to bring peace to that island, but all of it ended in failure. All he knew was the island was no more. He didn't remember if he had been vaporized in the explosion or been thrown out to sea to drown. Either way, that place had been a part of his life, something he would not forget, and it seems, neither would his children.
And it seemed the fact was backed up no less! Owen gave a small cough that was more like a sob. Yes, he could see it now. He knew it! The Gaomon knelt on one knee, offering his open arms to embrace his new children. After all, it was more than a creepy old Trailmon graveyard that brought them together here, right?
Bezil was delighted too, the Gumdramon having to hold his hammer-tail to prevent it from wagging too hard so that it'd start smashing things. "Oh wow, I have sisters! This is so cool!" he cheered. Then Bu swore, making him gasp, but Owen chortled.
"I'll let that one go for now, young lady" the Gaomon said, smirking. "But best keep the potty mouth under control, especially in Rosewood, alright, mate?"
"You have more than one brother though" Bezil pointed out. "There's Logan and Haku too, I can't wait for you to meet them!"
"Easy now, let's take this slowly eh?" Owen advised. "So then... anything we still wanna do now that we're here?" he asked, a little awkwardly. "Although I guess the better question is, is there anything you two would like to know, Bu and Fuu?" he supposed that was important too.

To say the twins were emotional right now was a slight bit of an understatement. They weren't sure what exactly brought them all here but it certainly had to be for a reason. The twins ran up to the Gaomon and embraced him as any daughters would. They embraced him as the memories of a sunken island faded away to show what was now.
And now? Now was primarily family. It was a big family, too, Fuu actually looking somewhat shocked. "So...Altogether, there's...five of us?"
Interesting. Bu, however, had her mind made up. "Nope! Fuu wrote down the trailmon stuff, so we can just go and do whatever we want, dad!" That was gonna take a bit of getting used to for the Ryudamon, but it was...something that felt nice to say. But, anything they'd like to know?
Fuu tapped her chin. "...What's Hikaru like? And our other brothers?"

Owen knelt as his daughters approached and he embraced them both, holding back tears of joy at their first meeting. Yes, now that they were in contact, he could feel a warmth he had only felt when embracing his other known children, Logan, Haku and Bezil. That he felt the same feeling, it was proof enough.
"Oh... I'm just sorry I couldn't have met you earlier" the Gaomon admitted. "We have so much to catch up on... hey, if you need a place to stay, I have a house in Rosewood. We could live together for a bit if you like, and there, I can help you girls out. I'm a teacher you see, I help young digimon learn survival and combat skills, I've taught Bezil almost everything I know, and, I'd be glad to teach you two the same. It's only fair, right?"
Bezil meanwhile was a little taken aback to see his father behave like this around other digimon. So far he was only used to him being like that to him, but... he supposed that in the end it was fair. He had spent the better part of 3 years being his father's precious protege, and, he knew that wouldn't last forever. In fact, the Gumdramon recognized this as the moment when he should probably step aside from being his father's baby and seek his own fortune in the digital world. Still to bring honor where he could to his family, but also let his father spend as much time with his sisters as he had devoted to him. That would be fair in his eyes.
Then Bu and Fuu asked what Hikaru was like. Owen was only too delighted to answer. "Hikaru's a wonderful, confident digimon, full of life" he explained. "He might come across initially as a bit of a braggard, but, that's only because of the showman inside. Once you get to know him, you'll find he's full of love, full of life, and only wants the best for everyone he cares about. And that includes a vast majority of the digital world, but, of course, just a little bit more for his family".
As for their brothers? Bezil answered that. "Logan's kinda quiet, and doesn't really put himself where the action is, but, he's studying hard with his partner in the human world. And Haku's really fun and playful, but strong as well" the Gumdramon explained.
