The city of whitewater was usually the last place that Bero would be. He had no interest in the beach, no interest in parties and festivals! However, there was always something going on, which included the occasional challenge of some sort. Not too mention, when enemies used water, they challenged his flames. That was not today’s situation though. Bero had a few scratches, and had some rookies who had been chasing him. They had stopped when he had gotten close here, because the Kokuwamon he'd annoyed were not a fan of the water.
Rudely, Bero taunted them before running off deeper into the area where they wouldn't chase him. Just another day for the BlackGabumon. Honestly, Bero had taken more of a beating than he’d like to admit, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to antagonize them for a good fight some other time. Arriving in the outposts of Whitewater, he needed to think of something to do. Besides shaking Kokuwamon off his tail. He deemed it unnecessary to be on fire right now, so he walked around town, bright digital sun shining on his black body, creating a sore spot between all the colourful digimon. His gruff expression and combat-worn look didn’t help him much in that case.
Ignoring any looks he got, he eventually came upon a store which apparently specialized in gear, more towards the outside and away from the digimon trying to get 'friendly' with him. While away from the main crowd, he'd normally still dislike tech shops. After all, gear cheapened up the authenticity and danger of combat. And the natural power of it. Probably. Maybe. He might just be a tad miffed that he lost to enemies using gear today, which is exactly why he entered. Wasting no time or breath with making good impressions, he entered, opening the door and speaking up. “Oy, Who’s here and can explain me why so many digimon rely on this stuff?!”

It wasn't much of a surprise to him that digimon relied on gear, it wasn't a surprise to him that they would of course start using it to enhance their abilities. It wasn't even a surprise when they came to him asking him to retrofit existing enhancements, find them places they could purchase cards or even bump up their existing equipment to the next level. It was starting to get more and more popular among younger audiences to do so to sort of protect themselves.
It was a dangerous world and the human had no problem helping those along that wished it. Most of them were willing to look past the fact he was human, maybe it was the fact he wore his scars they way he did or perhaps it was the fact he was just so much more weathered than any of the youth that they had to deal with at any given time.
Kan was a rare breed of human, an adult that had been doing this sort of business for a long time. But he never really seemed to think any less of the individuals that came to him; which was part of the reason so many did. He'd always give them the benefit of the doubt and accept whatever payments they desired for his equipment or boosts as some liked to call it.
So when his door burst open the man looked up from the andromon's arm that he was working on and blinked a few times. He took in the individual that had entered in for a few long moments before slowly standing up.
To bero his shop was surprisingly immaculate; looking something more like a doctor's office than a mechanic or engineering place. Row after row of different types of equipment lined the walls and a few center pieces much like the andromon's arm sat in the middle giving anyone a clear line of sight of who was in the store had it any real proper windows for viewing. Wiping off his hands on a rag he'd manage a small somewhat weathered smile before explaining calmly just what the other had asked.
"Name's Kan. The owner and sole engineer of this place. To answer your question? Combat efficiency and strength are always variables that can be shifted one way or another. Equipment is becoming popular with younger audiences with how many mon's now day are capable of higher level digivolutions with less 'effort' as some would call it."
The man tapped softly on the counter-top and found himself frowning after a few long moments.
"Little increases seem to make the most of smaller skirmishes; something happen recently or did you see something you'd like?"

Of all possible things. He was being spoken to by a confident human, being told the answer to his question in such an accurate and well thought out manner, that he couldn’t refute it in slightest. Bero dropped his arms down to his sides in offended disbelief, staring straightly at the man. He aimed a vicious sneer towards the man as he spoke, although he did take the time to listen to what the man had said. “You presume to know an awful lot about digimon for a… whatever you are.”
He had forgotten the name of their miserable, weak specie. It wasn’t important, what was important is that he felt it was strange Kan knew such logical things. Bero thought about it, his eyes averting away from Kan, as he didn’t dare give the man a straight stare without showing him the contempt that in Bero's eyes, he deserved. What the man had said made sense, he couldn’t deny it. That may have been the worst part. Ontop of that, the way he got others to fight them gave them the right to use any tools they had on them, it was just incredibly lame when they did. How the man suggested he himself might use such tools was laughable at best, something Bero was sure to let him know with mixed anger and smug glee. “Hah, like i’d ever cheapen combat spirit using anything other than my own raw strength and skill.”
He let his cloak light aflame, although it did not burn brightly, a soft blue fire came from it, enveloping almost the entirely of it. Bero confidently, no, arrogantly crossed his arms and looked at the man with a demanding gesture. The fires seemed to leave Bero entirely unaffected, if not making his physical warmth more comparable to his fiery mood. the blue light had given the BlackGabumon a more unnatural colouration, no longer bathed in the light Kan had in his shop. Both lit up outside and inside by vicious flame, Bero spoke “And i highly doubt you’re looking around to give me tips on how to fight against them, since it’s probably all you have, isn’t it?”
Bero gave a sly, almost villainous grin. His tone was suggestive and had the meaning voice he could give it, as he clearly looked down on the man. He had no idea how their specie worked, for all he knew, this man had done exactly as he himself had just suggested and filled him with equipment instead of fighting a fair straight fight. Hell, Bero wouldn’t mind fighting him, ifnot only to learn how to fight against these tools better.

Kan raised his brows quietly at seeing the other stare at him in some manner of disbelief. There was a quick quirk of the brow and he'd shrug continuing to wipe off his hands with that rag now that he more or less had the attention of the individual in front of him.
"Human. And you'd be a BlackGabumon if I didn't know better. My ex-wife's rookie form is the Antibody version of you."
He was familiar with the species, rough fighters every single one of them. He had never met a gabumon or any variant of that line that weren't battle hardened. Hell his ex-wife was a Weregarurumon-x most of the time and could turn her freaking hands into chainsaws for a shrot time. He noted the quick look to one side from bero, prompting a small shake of the head. He'd shrug at the idea of cheapening the combat spirit from using something other than raw strength.
"Some people don't have the luxury of that choice. It's part of the reason why I give out what I do."
There was as soft rolling of his eyes however when the other lit his cloak aflame. It didn't burn brightly, but the blue fire did give the man a small pause. Blue fire burned hotter than it's orange or yellow counterparts did they not? Then of course he spoke and the man let out a small snort.
"I know how to use and develop my own equipment but I don't partake in my own supply unless it's for testing purposes."
There was a small shrug that followed suit and he'd hold up that almost strangely white digivice that had replaced his original one not too long ago. He'd tilt his head just slightly and give the BlackGabumon a small earnest smile.
"In terms of fighting strength a 'mere' human can equal out a rookie tier digimon without the use of equipment. But where you all have your moves we're only left with our ingunity. But for people like me I have my spirits I can rely on too. So no. It's not all I have."

Bero’s species had indeed been identified, Kan being spot on with his analysis. Apparently, Kan had known other Blackgabumon, including one he considered and Ex-wife. A digimon marrying a human? Well, Bero had seen worse conglomerates of pure idiocy, it wasn’t impossible. This was pretty high up there. Humans, Bero could almost spit at just thinking about the word. He had known them to be weak and shy away from combat. He wasn’t sure if there was some kind of digimon who protected them, but just incase there was, he never really beat them too much, just until they stopped reacting to him.
Perhaps he’d be doing the same here. Not that bringing this ‘Kan’ to a trailmon from his currently location was a smart idea, not in the slightest. Perhaps the engineer would be fine laying on the ground of his own shop. The blue fire had seemed to ellicit some kind of reaction, which Bero was happy to see. “Oh, You’re more a fan of fair combat, are you? Strange of you to sell the equipment then. And speaking of digimon who don’t have the ‘luxury’ of that choice… Do you think you’re doing the digital world some kind of service?”
He taunted, he wanted to see the man be afraid of his blue flames, not just softly acknowledge them. Perhaps he hadn’t understood yet quite how easily Bero could keep these blue flames alive? Actually, that might be a bad idea. The shock of Many Kokuwamon attacks was still fresh on his hide, and it showed as some parts of his cape were frayed and didn’t create as much blue fire quite as easily, not too mention some actual signs of damage on the parts outside of his cape. Then the man suggested he could fight on equal level without equipment, having a… spirit?
“I don’t know what this 'spirit' talk is, but i can tell you you won’t be having an easy time matching up against me, even if your physical strength can compare.” He said with a cocky grin. Smart ideas be damned, Bero wasn’t about to be taunted and beat up by a helpless human. Shame besides lacking in smart ideas, he also lacked in the necessary knowledge to determine what a spirit is.

Kan set down his rag and felt his brow raising slightly as the other spoke. Was that surprise that he felt from the other to that admittance that he had once been married to a digimon. If gretal was around at the moment maybe he might of had a little more of an idea of what sort of digimon he had a tendency of hanging around.
"Mhm. I've got to make a living somehow you know, and many people need things fixed or made for them. So I suppose in a sense yes I am giving the digital world a service."
Kan made a shrug at the idea; he wasn't really bothered by the taunting. He could sort of feel where this digimon was trying to go. Then of course the other claimed that he didn't know what a spirit was. He'd raise a brow quietly and shrug again. The other saying that he wouldn't have an easy time against him. Carefully kan would walk around the counter, flipping up a divider between him and the 'floor' of the shop.
"I suppose I'll have to show you what a spirit is so you can better understand it then."
The human wasn't really bothered by the amount of taunting that was going into this nor did he feel like actually fighting this digimon would accomplish much past a few nasty welts or burns on his or their parts but he'd be damned if he would let them run around with this mindset about humans. That and he really did need a good stretch so to speak, it had been a bit since he had actually fought in either his human or digital form!
"How bout we find out? Behind my Shop is more than a sizable plot for a rookie tier fight."
If the digimon accepted his offer he'd of course take him to that back yard. After all, it was very sizable being on the outer limits of the city. With it being the only real building around that particular place... Well you could say it would be even more comfortable for maybe up to champions if they so deigned!

Kan made his comment about making a living. Typical, he could have figured that human folk would act just like weaker digimon, offering services instead of using their own power to earn their livelihood in a more indirect manner. However, Kan didn’t seem bothered by Bero’s taunting, nor afraid. He offered to enlighten Bero about spirits. After all of Bero’s taunting, he calmly offered Bero the fight, giving him a location. Bero shrugged “Sounds good to me, let’s see if you’re all bark and no bite, human.”
Bero followed him, outside of the meticulous, cleaned shop, back into the fresh whitewater air. The moment he was outside, Bero let the flames on his cape go into full effect, no longer being wisps of small fire but now fully eclipsing him in the powerful blue flames. He followed Kan to whatever area he had ready for him. “I can respect that you’re up for a scrap. Makes you different from other humans. Can’t imagine you’ve earned your place here, but i suppose you’re just about to prove if you’ve earned your spot just as much as i have, aren’t you?”
Bero dusted off his shocked parts and ran his hand through his cape a bit, right through the blue fires, the fire melding around his fingers and not even licking at him. He smiled and now with his cape correct a bit, he was ready to scuffle, his hands calmly resting at his sides as his 4 burning coat claws raised up in a defensive position. Despite his small size, his relaxed posture and uncaring eyes attempted to sort of look down on Kan. He didn't know if Kan was about to bust out in sudden action or wanted to talk some more first, but either way he was prepared to fight, be it dodge or attack first. Maybe it'd be nice to start a fight fairly for once. Could learn something from it.

"Trust me I'm not all bark."
The human would shrug a bit, there wasn't much he could really say to that considering the entire motive here of the other seemed to be to goad him into a fight. The human looked about and glanced back at the BlackGabumon with a raised brow of course. They seemed highly doubtful of him having earned his place here. The human sighed a bit and shook his head, what was he supposed to really say that?
"You'll see."
Kan stretched a little bit and took a moment to remove his shirt. The swath of scars that criss crossed his arms and trailed all the way to his back were made painfully obvious. He'd turn to place it on a a nearby container which would just simply give the view of that nasty scar that started on his face and worked it's way over his skull, down his neck and trailing the course of his back until it vanished into the back of his pants. Some of the burns from his arms even linked up with the newer scarring that he had gotten from that lightning smite from that sovereign not too long ago. He'd roll his head and crack his neck before turning to the other.
"Lets see here..."
He'd eye bero for a few moments and then crack his knuckles marvelously. He wasn't sure if bero wanted to fight him or fight the spirit but... He figured he'd probably get called out for using his spirit outright. But whatever. He didn't much care. He'd thumb the device and that light of digivolution took over his body. For all the impressive muscled nature of the MachLeomon it didn't seem to be as much of an increase as one would think. A mane of hair, a more defined snout and well... two knives later the spirit would be standing there spinning it's knives thoughtfully.
Unlike it's human counterpart however it didn't have the scarring, no this spirit was pretty much unblooded past the spars it had with a punching bag and training dummies As the human didn't want to hurt someone without really needing to. The spirit would give Bero a toothy grin before flipping a knife in it's hand, jokingly mimicking the motion to throw it at bero...
"And this is my Spirit. A MachLeomon."

Bero had followed him outside. The man had been unresponsive, which had given Bero mixed messages. On one side, he stated a level of respect, which the man had basically shrugged off, but he had given a non committal response to Bero’s taunt. Was this guy even dedicated to the fight? Bero had hoped he had seen the danger of the fight, and would take it seriously. Even from a human he could learn something, especially if it’s willing to fight. “Well, at the very least, i can see some proof of trying to fight.” The swath of scars caught Bero’s attention, looking upon them, some were even unnaturally large. You’d have to piss off a large digimon or an eager digimon wielding a sword to get something like that. At the very least he was brave, foolish or both. Probably both, considering the scars he had actually gotten. Bero watched him crack his knuckles and prepare for the fight, something he refused to do in the same fashion. After all, there weren’t many knuckles too crack in his main fighting limbs. Violet eyes sharply viewing him. Only seconds later, did Kan reveal an alternative form, Bero’s eyes widening and him staying in a defensive stance that happened. Had he just been a digimon in disguise? No, he had taken the insults much too personally to do so. He was fighting to prove something here. He was earnest. “Well, the logic flies by me. But you’re a digimon now, and i don’t back down on a fight i accepted, even if you do look champion to me. Let’s get down to business.” Bero got in a more aggressive stance, his feet planted behind him. In a single move, the fires on his cape went into overdrive, covering his body in a powerful fire and dashing closer. He felt the air rush by him as he started zig zagging a bit while getting closer. Every stop he had taken was done so he could suddenly jump back if the MachLeomon went into it’s attack! If he was given the chance, Bero would start swiping with his flaming claws at Kan's legs and feet, not using the stretching properties of his coat quite yet. His assault, would it happen, would be defensive, measuring Kan's reactions more than trying to actually hurt him.
Bero activates Accelerant Ignition! Bero approaches Kan quickly but methodically. If his approach succeeds, Bero makes basic attacks towards Kan's feet, although he remains ready to block/dodge.
Accelerant Ignition Buff - Stoking the fires of his cape with raw energy, Bero covers himself with raging fire which allows him to move about 30% faster and makes touching his cape quite harmful, to the point of enemies dealing minor damage to oneself upon striking Bero with a melee attack. This buff lasts 3 posts and has a cooldown of 5 posts.

Kan rolled his shoulders quietly and raised his brows. Something about proof of trying to fight? He didn't simply try to fight, he did and he figured he did it pretty damn well. All things considering and all the places he had been. Exhaling a little he'd shake his head slowly. What could he really say to this guy?
"I don't think I could call what happened with the sovereign a fight."
The spirit wielder snorted and rolled one of his limbs, staring at the other. So the logic of what he was explaining was lost to the other? Well he was a digimon now and he didn't back down? Well that made sense. He'd quietly quirk a brow and simply shook his head.
"If I was a champion this wouldn't be a competition. It'd miss the point entirely."
A small shrug and the other got into their stance while the spirit user seemed quite all right with the stance he had currently. Somewhat relaxed and he'd even go to spin the dagger he was holding in one hand. Though the other dashed forward the MachLeomon's brows rose a bit. Zig, zagging and well... It would make throwing his knives pointless and the other started making swipes at him with those flaming claws!
Grunting a bit he'd hop back lightly on one foot to avoid the first swing, meeting the second with one of his knives and a somewhat of a 'really?' look crossing his face before the MachLeomon made a lazy swipe with one of his own knives.
Honestly he wasn't sure what to do for the moment, as Bero wasn't really... Well. He wasn't really how to approach the smaller mon. Huffing in irritation he'd jump forward, rotating and twisting his body to kick bero squarely in the chest with a kick looking to send him sprawling backwards.
Log: -Kan lazily moves out of the way of most of the swipes, blocking one of them with one of his knives. -Kan uses Crash-course to try to send bero flying. He doesn't seem terribly bothered.
Passives: Rang-Blade[Passive]: This digimon is capable of throwing it's blades like a boomerang at targets within twenty feet of it. These are not pin point accurate and have a long arc. Any blade that is thrown returns in the following post to the last location of the MachLeomon.
Drunken-Fist[Passive]: This digimon drinks quite often, off of the job, on the job, out of fights, in fights. As combat continues this digimon's intake of liquor also continues increasing; making the digimon hit harder. It often does things that others would consider somewhat risky but there isn't much in this life without pay off right? Increase in attack by 5% per post capping out at 25%, lowers defense by the same amount.
Move: Crash-Course: Performing a somewhat standard jumping kick where it rotates it's body to apply full spinning force to a target this digimon is capable of sending digimon of similar level sprawling or even flying away from it. Deals high damage. Two post cool down.
Cooldown: CC: [0/2]

Bero was glad to see that testing the MachLeomon’s speeds ended up well. The MachLeomon had no issue parrying and avoiding the various long sweeps of Bero’s claws. He seemed to even not take this battle much seriously at all! This thrilled Bero, knowing that he could at the very least do his best in this spar. The merchant seemed to have issue finding how to properly land a hit, which would be his problem above all else! Nonetheless, Kan figured out how he wanted to attack, opting to try to kick Bero away! Bero didn’t mind being hit away, after all, it could give him just the cover he needed. Bero called out, activating a move just as he was about to get hit. “Petit Arena!”
A ring of tall Fire surrounded the two, right before Bero took the damage of the hit in full, the flames from his cape slithering over Kan’s legs to deal some damage in return. Bero vanished behind the blue fire, it bending around his form to not damage him. It left Kan standing in the middle of massively tall walls of Blue fire. Bero meanwhile, Hit the ground on the other side. He growled at the damage of the hit. He had underestimated how much damage one kick would do! That wasn’t good for his side of the battle, but perhaps he could still salvage it with good use of Petit Arena! Speaking of good use, it was time to try and get his first use out of it! While standing outside of it, Bero stretched his claws and slashed right through the wall of Fire, trying to sneak an attack from outside of it to hit Kan with!
Log: Bero sees Crash Course winding up and uses Petit Arena in response! Bero is hit and takes the full damage from Crash Course, flying out of Petit Arena Bero takes a short moment to recover, before making a long basic attack swipe at Kan from outside Petit Arena
Abilities used:
Petit Arena Utility/Attack - Erupting flames from his coat, Bero has the flames trail across the ground to circle him and an opponent within 5 meters of him. These flames form a high wall of fire, creating a small arena of Fire which is difficult to escape. This attack cannot automatically connect or damage Bero’s opponent upon activation. Touching the fires makes anyone except Bero take minor damage, forcing them self through the fires to escape the arena (or someone else forcing themselves into the arena) deals severe damage. The Arena lasts for 2 posts, and has a 6 post cooldown.
Flame Coat Combat Passive - Naturally capable of lighting his entire coat aflame, Bero makes sure to always fight with this fire backing him up. As long as this passive is in effect, Bero’s coat is covered in hot blue flames, and he can control the claws on his coat freely as if they were two extra sets of limbs. He can stretch out these limbs like rubber, using them to increase the reach of his basic attacks, and allow him to interact with objects or digimon from a distance. The elastic nature of his cloak allows him to attack up to 5 meters away, or about 5x the expected distance the limbs could reach. These limbs are strong enough for him to pull himself up by them or push himself off the ground using them. Due to being constantly aflame, they increase the damage of his basic attacks using these arms by 10%. While the hot flames of his coat are dangerous, they do not actually deal significant damage when merely touched.
Cooldowns/effects: Accelerant Ignition: Turn ⅔. Petit Arena: Just activated, 0/6 posts cooldown had.

Kan raised a brow as he watched Bero be launched away by his attack, a ring of fire popping into existance around him. Kan shook his head a little bit; if he was younger perhaps he'd still fear the flame. But to him fire was just something you got used to. If one could even say that, as his burns told a long term story of many fires he didn't have control of.
He raised his blades as the claws slashed right through the wall of fire, his reaction time wasn't the best so one of them managed to get him pretty nastily on his arm while the other bounced off of his blade.
"Shoulda guess you used fire. What's the term? Fight fire with fire?"
The fact that Bero used fire created an arguable problem. The fact that he used fire too and that he would likely be immune if not resistant to the attacks he had that were based like that. Not to mention that his barrel lob wouldn't do anything to someone on fire naturally.
But that was neither here nor there, as he found that his flask was raised to his lips. He forgot how thirsty this form always made him feel, just how much he needed to drink and how much it messed with him out of it. So he'd just roll with it and spinning one of his blades around he'd give it a throw!
If Bero was outside of the ring he'd quickly notice that knife propelling itself out next to him, dangerously close to where he was before the blade swept on by. Spinning in a large lazy loop, these blades were capable of returning to it's owner!
Log: -Kan took a hit from bero's claws -Drunken-Fist has raised his attack by 5% [5/25] -Drunken Fist has lowered his defense by 5% [5/25] -Kan launched a knife using his passive Rang blade!
Passives: Rang-Blade[Passive]: This digimon is capable of throwing it's blades like a boomerang at targets within twenty feet of it. These are not pin point accurate and have a long arc. Any blade that is thrown returns in the following post to the last location of the MachLeomon.

Bero felt the hit of his claws slash at the other digimon’s form, mouthing a soft ‘yes’ to himself, as the rubbery appendages snapped back to his sides. The force of the snap was something he had gotten used too, luckily, Standing stable, he noticed one of the boomerangs flying around ready to strike him. He’d try his best to dodge but as the boomerang had lept through the fire he couldn’t see through himself, he had just as little time to react as Kan did. As the boomerang scraped by his side, him being slashed at, but relieved to find it wasn’t too extreme of a blow. The fiery arena raged on, and Bero could actually use the Boomerang as a good estimate of where Kan’s position was now, since it returned to him even through the fire. That was, assuming it did return to him. Bero had to assume as much though, as he couldn’t really see through the fire. Using the cover of the Arena and the speed granted to him via Accelerant Ignition bero latched onto something with his claws to launch himself towards the Machleomon, flying off like a pencil shot by a rubber band bow! The Gabumon came barreling through the blue fire, as it parted to not harm him once more. Bero put out his foot to kick Kan in the chest, hopefully send him tumbling to the arena of fire right before his flames would fade. Right as he made impact, he taunted in return. "If you want to fight fire with fire, your better bring the flames!" Bero took damage from Kan’s basic attack! Bero launches himself using his flame claws to flying kick Kan in the chest! Passives: Flame Coat Combat Passive - Naturally capable of lighting his entire coat aflame, Bero makes sure to always fight with this fire backing him up. Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: Final turn, ends at start of next turn. Cooldown not started. Petit Arena Final turn, ends at start of next turn. ⅙ posts cooldown had.
