It seemed that Sunny was finding herself at the Infinity Coliseum more and more these days. She had never really been ‘in shape’ before, but not completely physically inactive either. Light jogging and walks had kept her healthy enough till now, or at least she had thought so. Her spirit partner thought otherwise, and here they were again at the arena trying to improve the human’s form and technique.
Punching was something new to her. It seemed like such a brainless movement at first glance, but in the past few few days Aurelia had been teaching her many nuances that she took for granted. How to turn your wrist when you strike. How to properly step forward and lean into the blow without throwing yourself off balance. How to control her breathing during the motions. Having never gotten in a serious physical scuffle before it took Sunny some time to get used to these basics.
Soft thuds sounded off of the standing punching bag as the woman struck it in a trained rhythm. Left jab! Left jab! Right cross! Left jab! Left jab! Right cross! Standing on top of the punching bag a transparent Lunamon watched over Sunny diligently. After it started to become clear that Sunny was starting to lose steam Aurelia spoke up.
“Alright, take a breather. You’re getting better with your form.” The digimon paused to glance down at the human’s bandage wrapped hands. “How are your knuckles feeling?”
“They’re fine!” breathed out Sunny as she wiped sweat from her forehead with the back of a hand. Despite her heavy breathing she grinned up at Aurelia. “See! I told you these hands weren’t too soft to work hard!”
“I’ll remember that when you reach for your lavender scented lotion when we get back home,” ribbed the Lunamon with a small smile as she rolled her eyes. Her partner huffed in indignation, but they both knew better than to think any outward hostility was authentic.
