Bezil grinned in response. "Thanks! It was the other Shoutmon that taught me that lesson" he said, but only as long as they weren't currently flinging attacks at each other. Bezil remembered his father's words, 'Run your mouth if you want, but never take your eyes off your opponent'. Of course it all came as instinct by now. The many battles of Owen and Hikaru streaming through the Gumdramon's memory. By now he was registering many things about Shoutmon and his combat methods. The first was that he too used his mic staff as his primary weapon. But, it seemed that unlike the other Shoutmon, he could attack without it, so disarming him wouldn't be quite as effective. Then again, the attack was fire, and Bezil had little problem with that element. Bezil watched as Shoutmon approached, aiming a low strike for his legs. Ah, trying to trip him up? Bezil coiled his tail, slammed it on the ground, then sprang up high in the air, at least six feet, somersaulting his body once to build up momentum in his tail, then would send his hammer on Shoutmon's back. He didn't build up strength behind it, knowing this was just a spar, but the hammer was heavy... Bezil knew that Owen wouldn't approve of such a flashy move, it would have been better to jump backward, but, Bezil felt confident enough in his fighting abilities to pull this one off. Bezil dodges Shoutmon's effort by jumping high in the air, then counter-attacking him by aiming a basic attack with his tail at his back.Frosty Tail cooldown: 2/2

"I have loads of other tricks up my sleeve, though," Shoutmon semi-bragged, "so don't get too cocky now!"
When Shoutmon swung his staff towards Bezil's legs, he wasn't 100% expecting him to actually fall from it. He was a smart kid, he'd find a way to dodge it. And sure enough, that's what he ended up doing.
Bezil used his own tail to swing him upward enough to avoid the mic stand, and he was attempting to slam his tail right into Shoutmon's back. Of course it probably would've worked, if he didn't decide to somersault his body as well. Shoutmon had full eyes on the furred Gumdramon, and he could immediately tell what he was going to do.
And in response, Shoutmon held the top part of his mic-staff towards his mouth. "BELLOW BLASTER!" Shoutmon cried, charging his staff with energy before unleashing that energy towards Bezil as he came slamming down. "Ironic coming from me, but you gotta cool it with all the flash." Shoutmon counters Bezil's attack with "Bellow Blaster"

Yep... Bezil knew that Owen's advice would probably have prevented the problems that occurred, namely Shoutmon being able to gather those last few seconds of him somersaulting to build up power in his strike. Turning one's back to face the foe took considerably less time than that, and Bezil's only move to avoid the full blast of the attack was to dive down onto the ground, facing away from him, paws over his ears. Yep... this was why Owen told him to discard all urges to be flashy like this in battle. It was only his hard fireproof tail hammer that prevented Shoutmon scorching his furry white butt, and even then it was a close thing. But Bezil also learned another lesson from his father, don't let setbacks drag him down. So the moment the attack ended, the Gumdramon pounded his hammer back on the ground, using its weight to set him back upright. And thus he found himself close enough to Shoutmon to pull this strike off. Bezil wouldn't make any further bragging, from here on, he'd fight as his father taught him - like a soldier. No weakness shown to the enemy, no words until one party was neutralized. His tail hammer glowed blue as he prepared another Frosty Tail, only this time, he'd aim to hit Shoutmon with it directly, aiming his hammer diagonally as well as thrusting it forward to create the minimum scope for evasion. Bezil ducks and covers to try and take reduced damage from Bellow Blaster.

Nice going, Shoutmon, Adrian thought as he continued to watch the fight, seeing the stunt that Shoutmon had just pulled off, you managed to take Bezil's flashy moves and use them to your advantage. Just make sure that he doesn't do the same to you too, now.
Shoutmon felt proud of himself for that, even though Bezil still managed it so that Shoutmon's attack only scraped his tail. Maybe if I perfomed the attack a little bit faster, it'd have more of an effect, he thought.
Even with his minor success, Shoutmon was still focused on the fight itself. And it was a good thing he was, too, because right after Bezil's evasive maneuver he slammed his tail on the ground again to lightly launch himself up, his face going completely soldier-mode. Not only that, Shoutmon could see Bezil's tail glow lightly blue again:
Frosty Tail.
Worse than that, Shoutmon had no way of blocking or dodging this one this time. So if he was going to be struck, he was going to at least try to numb the pain a bit. He used his 'Fiery Fastball' move, only he didn't launch it. Instead, he was going to do something interesting: attempt to catch the Frosty Tail with his Fiery Fastball hand.
It was still freezing cold but thanks to Fiery Fastball's natural heat, Shoutmon's hand didn't go entirely numb. And he didn't exactly catch it, as it still launched Shoutmon back quite a few feet. However, as he flew Shoutmon began to glow. And when he landed...
"He Digivolved...!" Shoutmon attempts to catch/block Frosty Tail with Fiery Fastball, which reduced damage, but still hit him quite a bit. Shoutmon digivolved to SuperShoutmon!

The result of the Fiery Fastball colliding with Frosty Tail resulted in a small explosion, which would have most likely knocked Bezil and Shoutmon away from each other. Not only that, it would have surrounded them with steam, obscuring their view. Bezil gasped and was momentarily winded from the unexpected counterattack, but, he was still standing, still able to move, so he was ready to continue. Yet... something felt different. He felt... more powerful than before. He stood a little higher from the ground, he felt his little yellow wings were rather heavier, there was a red scarf around his neck as well, where did that come from? Then the steam cleared, and Bezil was revealed to be over a foot taller, his face much less childlike, his body with much more adult-like proportions. His wings were longer, stronger and broader. Yes, he was still a furred Gumdramon, purple and white as he had normally been, but, somehow more mature looking. And, as he looked at Shoutmon, he seemed to look the same. It was as though both of them had transformed in that hit. Bezil gave a triumphant smile as he realized. Not transformed... digivolved. "Heh. Seems we're both pretty fired up about this spar, eh?" Bezil asked the red dragon. His voice was much less childlike now, sounding like that of a teenager, although he still had the Australian-Scottish accent he inherited from his parents. "I'll admit... this is the first time I've digivolved to Champion. But... if you wanna continue, I'd be happy to, I'd like to see what this form can do". Bezil's Frosty Tail clashes with Fiery Fastball, reducing the damage to both.
Bezil's Fiery Heart combat passive activates, reducing damage to him further.

Shoutmon thought it was a pretty smart idea, colliding his Fiery Fastball attack with Bezil's Frosty Tail. The end result wasn't what he was really expecting, but hey, it reduced the damage and no parts of his body were frozen, so that was a win in his book.
When the attacks collided and the explosion occurred, Adrian could see two different glowing figures as each of the Digimon was knocked back by the clash. When the smoke cleared, both Digimon looked similar, yet older and more mature-looking. They both had Digivolved.
And Shoutmon managed to do it without Adrian's help at all.
The newly-digivolved SuperShoutmon looked up at Bezil to see that he had Digivolved as well. He made a quip about how they were both fired up for this spar, and SuperShoutmon had to agree. "Heh. Yep, I guess we are." He then asked if SuperShoutmon wanted to continue the spar some more. "Are you kidding? Of course I do! I need to practice in this form, anyways."
And thus the spar continued. SuperShoutmon summoned his new and improved mic stand, the 'Beat Baton' as he called it, and tapped into the microphone part of it a couple of times. He looked right at Bezil and smirked as he lifted it towards his mouth.
"MIGHTY MELODYYYYYY!"
SuperShoutmon began to sing into his mic, causing the top part of the stand to shoot a blast of energy right towards Bezil. SuperShoutmon uses "Mighty Melody" on Bezil.

So, the battle was continuing? Bezil grinned with enthusiasm. Man, his wings felt just so strong now that he had evolved. Could... could they...? He had to try them out! Probably triggered by Shoutmon flicking his new, bigger mic staff, Bezil stretched out his large wings. There was something about how loud those flicks were that triggered bad memories, particularly of how the earlier Shoutmon had nearly burst his eardrums with the sheer loudness of his attacks. And the Gumdramon was not going to take something like that so easily. So Bezil flapped his wings once, twice, then leapt from the ground, and to his sheer shock, the ground suddenly moved down beneath him. He couldn't believe it! "Holy crap I can fly!" Bezil exclaimed. He was so astonished by this that he was almost taken off-guard by Shoutmon's attack. Instinct quickly kicked in, and the furred dragon digimon evaded with all of his effort, so much that he couldn't think of a way to counter-attack. After all, he was just starting to get used to his new form. However, Bezil still flew about twenty feet above Shoutmon, practicing how to keep in flight with his new wings. Passive Ability: Flight - Bezil is able to fly in this form.
Bezil uses all of his effort to evade Shoutmon's Mighty Melody attack, so that he does not launch an attack of his own this turn.

The battle was getting really heated up now. Both Shoutmon and Bezil had Digivolved into champion levels. Upon his immense excitement, Bezil realized he could fly and flew right up into the air, perfectly dodging SuperShoutmon's "Mighty Melody" attack.
"Huh, so you can fly now, huh?" SuperShoutmon asked with a smirk. "Well don't you worry; I have a few tricks of my own. Cloak and Dagger!"
As soon as SuperShoutmon yelled that, he vanished right from Bezil's eyes. He suddenly appeared right behind Bezil twenty feet in the air, immediately kicking Bezil in the back as hard as he can.
"Hm, this fight is getting interesting now," A Falcomon named Nin remarked as he stood right next to Adrian. The latter did not realize that this Falcomon had even showed up, so he jumped when Nin began speaking.
"When the hell did you get here?!?" Adrian yelled, breathing heavily due to the fact that Nin had just nearly scared the shit out of the Tamer.
"Since the fight started," Nin remarked, shrugging as if it was no big deal at all. "Is there a problem with me simply watching a Digimon fight?"
"No, the problem is you just showing up all of a sudden with no one knowing you were there! Why are you following us, anyways?" SuperShoutmon uses "Cloak and Dagger" on Bezil.

As Bezil hovered above, he awaited Shoutmon's next move, his tail glowing a frosty light blue as he readied himself for what would happen next, thinking he would use his ice attack to prepare. Good, he still had that - a gift from Hikaru. In the end, that was what made him able to counter-attack Shoutmon's kick. As Bezil gasped, the frosty hammer on his tail jolted upwards and smacked into Shoutmon's other leg. Unless he had a means of getting rid of the effect, the leg would freeze up in ice crystals. Probably not a very pleasant experience for his opponent, especially that they were 20 feet in the air. Still though, the kick was hard and sharp and Bezil's wings were forced to slow. The Gumdramon descended down onto the ground, panting. "Whoa... that's a bit of a nasty attack you have there..." the furred dragon said to Shoutmon. "But attacking me from behind isn't usually a good idea".He noted there was a Falcomon there watching now. He thought they were an onlooker at first, but it seemed that Adrian knew them. Bezil would have greeted them, but he was paying too much attention to the spar. Damn, Shoutmon had some crafty tricks indeed. Bezil is struck by Cloak and Dagger and temporarily has to land.
Bezil counter-attacks at point-blank range with Frosty Lasher, aiming to freeze Shoutmon's leg.
Frosty Lasher - Bezil's tail glows an icy pale blue, then he swings it, casting a wave of ice at one opponent. If it strikes, it immobilizes them on the spot for 1 turn. It also works if he attacks at melee range. [Cooldown: 3 turns].

SuperShoutmon honestly should've expected Bezil to keep that Frosty Tail attack in some shape or form. That thought didn't even cross his mind when he went in for the Cloak and Dagger attack. He did manage to get a pretty damn good hit on Bezil, but Bezil got an even better hit on SuperShoutmon's other foot.
"AAUGH!" SuperShoutmon yelled in immense pain as his foot began crystallizing with ice. Both he and Bezil fell to the ground hard. SuperShoutmon did not get up initially, because he was too busy holding his foot in pain, which was encased in ice.
"Interesting turn of events," Nin said, rubbing the bottom of his beak, "I did not expect the Gumdramon to have that attack on him while he is in his Champion form."
"He really looks hurt," Adrian says worryingly as he gets up. "Guys, I think you've had enough-"
"No!" SuperShoutmon yells, getting up slowly, "It'll be all right, the pain's gonna go away eventually. I still got my heart in this." He takes a step with his good foot and holds out his hand out as a fireball forms. "I guess I'll have to attack you from the front then. Enhanced Fastball!" SuperShoutmon then threw the fireball right at Bezil, which was not only more powerful, but much faster than before. SuperShoutmon is struck by Frosty Tail.

Bezil panted as the pain in his back began to make itself known as a lingering, dull ache. But he still felt bad at what he had done to Shoutmon. Seeing just how much in pain he was at having his leg frozen made him realize that maybe he had taken this a little too far, and would have stopped if Shoutmon wanted to. "Sorry, Shoutmon... are you okay?" he called. But it seemed that Shoutmon wanted to continue. Bezil acknowledged this with a nod, keeping his guard up. Alright, if Shoutmon wanted to continue this, then so be it. And so the fight continued. Shoutmon conjured a fireball once more, only this time it was much too fast to be flung back at him like before. But Bezil still grinned. This was his chance to strike! Instead of dodging, he ran forward, crossing his paws over his face to shield them from the hit. The fireball struck and exploded with heat and light. Bezil flinched, but his momentum was not stopped. The pain hurt him less than it would other digimon. Bezil might be covered in fur, but he was still part dragon, and he charged forward, still able to fight. "It'll take more than fire to stop me, mate!" Bezil declared, scorch marks on the back of his paws as he closed distance with Shoutmon, then flung his tail hammer. Had this been a real battle, he would have shown no mercy and made it burn, but, he only wanted to prove himself as a fighter here, not seriously hurt Shoutmon. Bezil is struck by Enhanced Fireball. Damage is halved by Fiery Heart.
Combat Passive Ability: Fiery Heart - Increases Bezil's resistance to Fire elemental attacks by 50%, and protects him from the effects of heat. However, increases the damage he takes from Water attacks by 50%.

"The Gumdramon is going to win, no question about that," Nin said with great confidence as he observed the spar. This of course had Adrian looking at the Falcomon with a confused look.
"What makes you so sure of that?" Adrian asked the ninja.
"It's elementary. Pull out your D-Terminal and scan the Gumdramon."
"His name is Bezil, you know," Adrian said before taking out the D-Terminal. Upon scanning the purple-furred Gumdramon, his eyes widened. "What?! 'Fiery Heart'?! SuperShoutmon's main moves involve fire! Wait, how did you figure it out?"
"I didn't, really. I just saw how unaffected he was by the 'Enhanced Fastball' and just put two and two together."
Back to the fight, things weren't looking too good on SuperShoutmon's end. Bezil was tougher than he thought, and now a giant swinging tail was coming his way. Maybe if he timed it just right, a certain attack would throw off his aim...? He at least had to try; he was getting attacked either way.
"MIGHTY MELODY!" SuperShoutmon screamed into his micstand, launching musical energy right at Bezil to attempt to throw off his attack. If it didn't succeed, or at least not as much as he hoped... well, he was getting a hammer-tail to the gut. Which will indeed hurt. SuperShoutmon uses Mighty Melody in an attempt to throw off Bezil's aim. If it fails, then SuperShoutmon is struck by the basic attack, causing damage.

Over the past three years of combat training in Rosewood, Bezil had learned a vital principle that would be the key to victory in combat. After all, with his strong body, resistance to fire, and bold tactics, it was clear that to win, he must not be afraid to get hurt. That was a lesson the furred Gumdramon had embraced from the start. He wasn't nervous or shy on the battlefield, he'd go where he wanted - up close for melee attacks, fall back for ranged attacks, and with this, he didn't hold back. Shoutmon's attempt to counter-attack him did hurt, but Bezil gave a loud dragon-like roar of defiance, continuing to close in. The damage registered on his body, making his ears ring, but he followed through with his hammer strike. As it connected, Bezil fell back, panting, holding his throbbing ears as his sense of hearing was temporarily shut down. This could be problematic... but Bezil had an idea what was coming. Still, he supposed Shoutmon was in bad shape after all these hits. "I can't hear anything, Shoutmon, so gimme a signal if you wanna continue!" he called. "Nod for yes, shake your head for no!"Not lowering his guard, Bezil prepared for both possibilities. Bezil is struck by Mighty Melody. His hearing is impeded.
Bezil is preparing something.

SuperShoutmon's counter attack didn't go exactly as he had planned. Yes, he did successfully hit Bezil with the Mighty Melody attack, but Bezil was still able to collide his tail with SuperShoutmon's gut, launching him back a little bit away.
"Augh! Dammit, that did not go how I was expecting it to," SuperShoutmon growled with pain as he clutched his abdomen where Bezil's tail struck. "How are you doing over there, kid?"
Turns out that Bezil wasn't doing alright at all, as that last attack ended up causing him to lose his hearing. SuperShoutmon's eyes widened; how could he be so stupid like that?! And Bezil STILL wanted to keep going! Although now all of SuperShoutmon's fighting spirit was all but gone.
"No no no, that's enough," SuperShoutmon says, shaking his head no since Bezil could not hear what he was saying. Devolving into Shoutmon, he ran up to Bezil. "That's enough, kid. You fought well."
"Wait, what's going on? Why is it ending?" Adrian asked Shoutmon as he and Nin came running down.
"Bezil lost his hearing. If we went on it could've been much worse." Shoutmon turned towards the Falcomon with a confused expression. "What are you doing here?"
"Do I need a reason? I noticed the fight and I came to watch."

Huh? It was over? Bezil blinked for a moment as Shoutmon indicated he didn't want for this to continue. This threw him off for a moment, he was just starting to get really involved in the battle here, but, he realized, yeah, this was meant to be just a spar. Furthermore, there were no healing digimon nearby, so, it would be best to stop now. Bezil took some deep breaths to calm himself, and as he did so, he relaxed inward, returning back to the rookie Gumdramon he had been earlier. "Whew! Thanks! That battle was awesome!" Bezil exclaimed to Shoutmon. While he couldn't hear what he was saying for the moment, the gesture of Shoutmon de-digivolving and approaching with a concerned expression was body language enough. "I didn't know I could fly in my champion form! This is fantastic! And I so had a plan if you wanted to continue too, I was expecting you to use Cloak and Dagger again so if you did that I would've turned around and counter-attacked!"Bezil then realized that he probably shouldn't be making conversation while his ears were out of action. So from there he said to shoutmon "Excuse me for a moment..." then turned around, poked fingers into his ears and began going "Mawp... Mawp..." until he could hear again. This took about a minute, but, his hearing returned, much to his relief. "Whew... okay... that's done now" he breathed in relief, then turned back to Shoutmon. "Well then, that's made me pretty hungry, how about we finally have that lunch, eh?"
Bezil ends combat and de-digivolves back to Gumdramon (Child).
