Terabyte Mountain. A peak with an unmeasurable number of secrets; probably higher than nine thousand. A place of many dangers, where many adventurers and tamers had lost their lives trying to unearth the many mysteries within.
One of such mysteries was what Amelie was sent to investigate, as per her newfound profession. Yup, this is when you ask; 'Isn't she supposed to be a journalist?' The short answer is yes. The long one? Journalism isn't very profitable when there's nothing to write about, so, for this time, she'd be searching the story herself!
What was it? A small, dark Dracomon. The poor thing had been separated from her mom, and he was afraid that she was lost in the mountain's caverns. For some reason, the two hadn't been able to reunite, and the small dragon had grown worried.
As an investigator™. It was her duty to uncover the truth regarding this situation. Yet... one question remained.
Why was she taking so long to enter? She should do it already. Or maybe she was waiting for someone, or something to happen?
Maybe some party members to join her?

"Oh why and why are we here?"
"Like I said I want to investigate if we can check if there is any... you know, hot spring source that we can pipe back home maybe?"
Two voices seem to be merrily (ha) talking among themselves as they walked. One is a young girl with rather cheerful expression, coated in thick fur coat, beanie hat and earmuffs. Oh don't forget the mufflers at it. The one that followed her is a Commandramon that is no different from her usual look... and slightly trailing behind them is a Guilmon X. This one unfortunately dressed like a walking pile of warm clothes.
"...Hrrr..."
"...It wasn't that bad in Ys," Kon-chan commented. "Why are you like this now?"
"In Ys we still can strip ourselves naked and not getting sick but this one would chill you down to the bone," Warg answered through muffled snout. He continued to drag the pile of clothes he is. "This place is worse than Snowflake by miles. MILES I tell you! And I'm not supposed to be poikilothermic at all!"
"Psh, so looks like today it's your turn to be the overreacting one between two of us huh? That suits me just well... But you know, this place just gave me massive trauma whenever I came back here. There were huge monster, riding something that I'm totally not used to, and chased by..."
...Her eyes widened. "...Oh Frickity Frack... what is a lady there doing with a Black Dracomon?"
"I think that's her partner or something?" Koharu suggested.
"Let's hope that's the case. If it's otherwise, let's fucking bail out and fucking nope out of here like we never before."

The mountain looked large and sister, much like Mae's temper on a bad day. Regardless, the holosuited Meicoomon had been asked to be present by her friend (who insisted that she got a tan--so she changed her holosuit to this cute girl she saw in a video game once to match) for a big ol' scoop.
Of course, nobody told her this would involve the one thing she hated the most. Dragons. It didn't matter if this one was small and harmless, or that it reminded her of Vulin. It still gave Mae the creeps.
Which was why she was largely hiding behind Amy. Even though the tan and slender woman was about as tall as she was. "...It's not going to do anything, is it?" She murmured, before she glanced over to the newcomers.
...Who were those guys?

Everyone seemed to be so afraid of the Black Dracomon. Was he that scary. She had no idea why Mae was scared. But Amelie would do her best to put her at ease. "Don't worry. Dracomons are relatively harmless, like most rookie levels. This one is just one scared guy who wants to see his mom again. There are few things as sad as a family getting separated, you know?"
In fact, the small dragon was obviously distraught; too young to understand the world outside his mother's tender embrace. In any case, it seemed like her tactic had worked. Immediately, the teenager, currently dressed in normal winter gear waved at the approaching girl and her dragons. Apparently, black dragons were a theme right now!
"Heeeey!" She seemed happy to see them, despite being complete strangers. "We were waiting for you three! Took you long enough."
This was a thoroughly tested tactic. It was bound to work, right! "We're getting inside this cavern. Are you coming? It'll be fun! And there's a reward of twenty-five hundred bits if we finish the career!"
If they rejected the offer, that was fine. If not, they could begin!

Hmmm? What was tha... eh? She was waited on? What's the meaning of this? Has she somehow made any sort of arrangement prior when she still have her memories intact? The human looked at her Digimons for reassurance, but their expression looked slightly on guard.
"...Sketchy," Kon-chan muttered.
"It's damn well is," Warg echoed.
"Should we approach?" Koharu asked, quite unsure.
".......When you said should we approach, did your feet somehow did not get the memo and stop right there?"
That's right, despite how she worded her question, Koharu already approached the trio. Kon-chan noted that the other human has Digimon smell on it... Someone holosuited? Well, she had no idea what's the need of it, but she won't say anything. People are allowed to be fabulous at any time. Rather than the two human looking people, she's more interested in the Dracomon though...
"....Ahh this is bringing PTSD..." Kon-chan muttered under her breath. Warg was the last to approach, still dragging his mountain of clothes and waved his sleeve.
"'Ello, ladies. Rather than waiting on us, I guess it's more correct to say that you're waiting another party member to join you or something?"
"...Before we decide to join or not, I'd like the full story please."
"Finally, some sensibility," Kon-chan muttered at her entourage's reaction.

"I'm aware. Just...I've not had good times with dragons in the past. Do I not have a right to fear them a little...?" The tanned cat spoke, before she nodded towards Amy. "...That said, even with my fear...Um. And even with my lack of biological family, the little guy does remind me of my brothers..." Though she was loathe to admit it, she didn't want something as small and cute as this to suffer.
Mae glanced towards the new trio, before tilting her head. "I think my friend can provide the full story. As she said, there's a reward involved and we'd actually be really happy to have you along." ...She decided not to inquire about the mountain of clothes. Or the PTSD.
Maybe they'd explain if they so wanted.

Gently, Amelie began to pat Mae's head. "There, there. It's okay to be afraid, and I admit that most grown dragons can be pretty scary, but what we have here is a scared child first and foremost, and just then a dragon. Maybe if you think it that way, you can get over your fear temporarily. Besides, Dracomons aren't that bad; there are way worse dragon species out there; I'm sure you're aware of that one!"
Lowering her hand from her now-tanned friend's head, Amy gazed in the two digimon and the human's direction. "Aren't those terms interchangeable, anyway? Sides, the way I phrased it sounds obviously better, doesn't it?" A bit of a smug smile ended up gracing Amy's features. "Weren't just waiting for anyone. We were waiting for the first group of capable individuals that stumbled upon us! And you look pretty capable if you ask me!"
She was sounding like a recruiter at this point, but that was okay! Similarly, asking for a story was okay as well; it wasn't like it would be honest to just pick these guys up without something like that, anyway. "Well, you see; little guy over here." She pointed at the Dracomon, currently hiding behind her leg, near the spot that Mae might've been occupying at the moment or not. "Got separated from his mom when traveling from the far ends of Northern Prominence to Snowflake Village. They decided to take a shortcut through the mausoleum, but a sudden cave-in made sure to throw a spanner in the works, and now we've to reunite the pair; that's more or less it!"
And, after a small pause, the obvious question was uttered. "So, are you in?"

"Did my excessive apparel baffled you, miss?" Warg asked to the tanned lady. "Let's just say I have bad case of winter chill."
The term being interchangable? "I think context matter here," Kon-chan replied. "If you're waiting for us specifically, I'd like to ask why and what, but considering that you're just waiting for someone who strikes your fancy I feel the number of questions that I will ask will be reduced significantly."
And looks like her... fear button just pressed. "...If Homeostasis exists, I ask Him to bless me and strengthen my heart... this is so trippy that it's not funny. I just hope her mom wasn't one that tried to eat my partner and me."
"Wait what?" Warg looked alarmed.
"Never you mind. Anyway... you said that we'll be returning this little one to the mother, and they're going to the Snowflake is it? Well, I don't think the dragon lady back then was any way intelligent, neither is her brood... So if this one is smart, I guess the two are unrelated. What says you, Koharu?"
"...Well, we can't exactly leave a kid like that here, right? It's... dangerous place after all."
"...I guess that's decided," Kon-chan heaved a sigh. "Ladies, we'll join you."

"...Um...I had a bad experience with a Groundramon trying to kill me once." That was all Mae felt like she had to say in regards to this. No, wait. "But...I'll try." She'd try for the sake of the poor little thing. Plus, Amy did have a point in that there were far worse. Nevermind the fact that Mae was purring for every headpat administered.
...Mae had zero comment for how Warg was dressed however. But she also at least felt a little vindicated (was that the right word?) with one of the other two of that trio seeming a bit spooked. "Yeah, the plan's to get this one back to his mom. Um...It's nice to have you along. I'm Mae."

A smile graced Amy's expression as soon as Mae began to show resolve. Not to say that those purrs were utterly adorable. "Good girl. I'm sure that, at the end of the day, we'll end up with a very thankful Groundramon. Who knows! Maybe that'll help you to fear dragons a little less? That'd be a good thing!"
It was quite obvious, but the brunette ended up waving dismissively at the Commandramon's statement. She was thinking about it too much. "But if I wanted for you to join me? Wouldn't that count as if I were waiting for you? Sides, it makes you all sound as if you were important! If somebody as important as I wanted the help of somebody as important as you, then it makes this journey look like some kind of epic, dungeon-crawling adventure where seasoned adventurers venture inside a treacherous structure just to return a lost kid to his mom. Doesn't that have a nice ring to it? I'm sure it does!"
Maybe she had gone a bit overboard? It seemed like the digimon had suddenly grown very scared, even though any kind of outcome was possible in a world as weird as the Digital World. "Don't worry about it. How bad it can be? It isn't like there's a giant monster living there or something. We'll be fine!"
Said and done, and after scooping the Dracomon within her arms, Amelie entered the mountain. What was inside? A narrow passageway, barely able to fit two beings walking side by side. Of course, it was completely dark inside, so the girl took out her trusty flashlight.
"So, if you see signs of a recent cave in, or movement along the corridors, just point me there. Chances are that we'll hit the first clues pretty soon."
Without a doubt, even. Further down the road, some claw marks would adorn the wall. Who would notice them first?

"...This girl, she sounded like the old Anego, isn't she?" Warg commented, rather amused.
"As crazy as it is, yes. She goes in tangent to the most outrageous way as possible, and somehow it managed to make people interested... Too bad we're a bit too used to it though, so we know how to deal with it, somewhat."
"...Am I really like th--Hey wait, that's rude!" Koharu uncharacteristically tsukkomi'd.
"Well you're the type that used to go 'Adventure is out there!' and charges headfirst to danger... seriously. Either way, i don't think there's any merit in thinking the semantics. You've decided, and we'll follow, that's just how it is. Either way I think not knowing names would be a bit of problematic. Nice to meet you miss Mae. My name's Kon-chan, this is my brother Warg, and that's our partner human, Nakano Koharu."
"Haru is fine," Koharu replied with a smile. ...Admittedly she felt like she could agree with what the other girl said, but she'll not say it out loud...
"...But please don't raise flag of some kaijuu encounter," Kon-chan deadpanned. "Homeostasis-damned Murphy's law."
The SWAT attributed dragon took the helm in her group with Koharu using her D-Nexus' flashlight to light the way. She looked at the wall, tapping it slightly to feel its structure, and at times activating her camera.
"...How is it?" Kon-chan asked.
"...Wait a second, the scanning is on process... I think we saw some claw marks here..."
"...I hope this is not connected to any mine shafts."
"Should we evolve?" Warg asked. He has since took off his mountain of clothes and is slightly shivering. He breathes out flame now and then to his paws to keep it warm.
"Negative. I think you'll be faster in that form rather than Black Growmon X in this cramped space. It's not like any of us have rideable form at the moment. Our armors... are unusable."
"...Well, frick."

Mae honestly didn't care that much about pleasing a Groundramon. The cat was more focused towards getting this little black creature that reminded her of some twins home. Speaking of twins, this twin tamer sure seemed like quite the character. They just bounced off of each other verbally.
It was somewhat interesting. "...Amy, every time someone says there can't possibly be something big and scary here, there usually is A-Anyways, let's just get moving." She mumbled as they proceeded into the mountain. "Hm..." She mumbled as the claw marks came into view, inevitably. Mae couldn't see that well in the dark at first, but after some time, she was able to start making them out.
"Yeah, I see some." The cat uttered, supporting the trio's finding. "...Also, let's not do more caveins while we're here. If we find claw marks, what then? Do we just follow them?" She inquired, looking to see if everyone else was doing okay. And if the Dracomon was holding up well.

The dragon trio's antics were met by a small shrug coming from Amelie, even though the small Dracomon seemed entertained by the exchange. At least somebody had found it funny! Mae's strange, yet slightly alarming remark didn't do a lot to the group's motivation, but that was okay as well.
Oh, right! Introductions. She had totally forgotten about them. "Pleased to meet you, Haru, Kon-chan, and Warg! My name's Amelie, but just Amy's fine. You already know about Mae, and this is Dracomon. He's a bit shy, but don't worry. I think he's a good guy."
Like planned, the group had gotten in, the twins finding something highly suspicious; claw marks. Their meaning was uncertain, even though the Dracomon seemed to become... hopeful? He leaned in and began whispering into the girl's ear. The result? Amy smiled.
"He says that those are his mom's claws, even though he's not sure of why she would've marked the walls. Maybe she wants to be found out? Or maybe it was a way for her to navigate the labyrinth without getting lost. Anyway, I think that our best bet if following them."
If nobody objected, that was exactly what the group would do. What would they see? Right after turning, they would find the whole passageway collapsed, and instead just a sharp slope leading down into the unknown darkness. Not... a good sign to say the least. "Well... I guess we won't have to deal with narrow corridors anymore." Silver linings! "What could've caused something like that? It must've needed a humongous amount of force to just... smash down a whole corridor on its own. Should I take the lead?"

"We'll draw that conclusion about the child's nature ourselves when we're done from this little escort affair, Miss Amelie," Kon-chan answered, perhaps slightly coldly, but that tone is quite neutral for her. She just really have bad times with these brood of that Black Groundramon after all.
"Kon-chan was that necessary?"
"For me this is necessary."
"If you keep that up soon your hairs will fall out you k--"
"I DON'T HAVE ANY HAIR ANYMORE IN THIS STAGE ANYWAY, AND EVEN IF I DID IT'LL FELL OFF FROM THE STRESS BECAUSE HOW ABSOLUTELY UNAWARE OF DANGER YOU ARE!"
"Now that's better" Koharu answered with a teasing catlike smile.
"You little... Fine, I'm sorry. That was unnecessary."
Following the claws eh... "....Hmmm... well, I guess that's reasonable, but... I wonder if it's a wise choice..." Koharu found that the claw mark has indeed some matching probability that it belonged to a Groundramon but... just how big is this Groundramon? "Well, it's not like we have any other clue anyway! Plus we can backtrack if something goes wrong, right? I have the automapping function ready here!"
Some alarm in Kon-chan's brain goes off when she saw the slope though... "....Ahhh, Kyo, how I missed you at this moment... I don't even now anymore if this is that same slope that caved in where that beast showed up.... for fuck's sake..."
"...What was that?"
"Nothing don't mind me. Anyway, should we evolve?" Kon-chan asked.
"I think that's bad idea personally," Warg answered. "We're here in peace. The last thing I want to have is some mama Groundie attacking us because she thought we're here to attack or something."
"...But at the same time we can't really fight hmmm... Koharu, how deep is the slope?"
"Checking now." Koharu aimed her D-Nexus to the depth, hoping to at least find answer to that.

A breadcrumb trail? Interesting. Something Mae herself would've done if she were in such a precarious situation while also suffering the woes of being a dragon. "Agreed. Let's see if we find anything--or my startlingly flippant ability to divine the future does anything." At least Kon had similar worries to her regarding these...dragons. Despite dragging dragons around.
Following the claws, of course, led to an impossibly large hole...So, what happened there? "...You two can evolve if you want, I think I know what I'm doing." The Meicoomon uttered as her holosuit dissipated, and the cat became enveloped in a bright light, before in her place was a Meicrackmon taller than even Amy.
"I vote we take the lead. I'd normally be okay with you leading on, Amy, but the Dracomon might be safer behind us...What do you think?" She asked of the rambunctious trio near them.
