Billy twirled slightly mid-air to narrowly avoid the second strike by the time the two of them were grappled together, though his 'wings' were seared slightly from it. "Smart idea, keeping a gunman from aiming." he said, struggling and thrashing a bit as if he was desperate "Looks like you caught me..." he said, though there was that slight smug tone in his voice.
In his struggles he attempted to lean back with her still gripped tightly onto him as he said in a low tone "Desert Rose." There's the distinct thunk of the grenade launcher before Billy attempted to clutch onto Angel's back in retaliation "Ready to fly?" he hopped up just a tad as the grenade went off, blasting him across the dunes and burning his coat. It banged him up pretty badly, but with any luck the force of the explosion would be enough to launch him out of the Lightning's area of effect. That, and if his grapple was successful, further damage Angel.
If Angel was within his grasp he'd throw her towards another dune before he crash landed. With a pained groan he would stand back up and roll his neck a bit "Phew! You're making me pull all the stops for this one." he said, offering them a round of applause "Look at us. Battered and bruised. Even with that fancy armor of yours I can tell you're hurting because so am I!" he said with a laugh. "Look. A hell of a lot worse than me is going to eventually come after you guys, you know that. I like people who can give me a good fight so I'm not trying to patronize you. Either way...you wanna keep going? Because I got all the time in the world."
-----------
Billy narrowly avoids the second lightning strike and launches Desert Rose at his and Angel's feet. It's his intent to drag Angel along with him by riding the blast of the explosion away from Devil's Lightning.
Desert Rose: Pulls back its sleeve to reveal a grenade launcher and fires an explosive out of it. The resulting explosion takes the shape of a large wildflower and damages foes in a wide area [3 Turn Cooldown]

There!
Perfect! Angel got her grip, and for at least a few seconds, the fox wasn't just going to let him go anywhere. Keeping a firm grapple around Billy's back, she let out a growl as the MagnaKidmon attempted to clutch around her own, getting a hold of the armor.
"Ready to fly?"
"Sinful Claw - Overload!"
Ouch, call that a no! Rather than take him up on the offer to dance, Angel instead wrenched an arm back, and try and drive it right into the MagnaKidmon's stomach! If she hit hard enough, she could hopefully escape the other Super Mega's grip, and would instead be tossed aside by the grenade into the sand. Which was fine: she held him long enough anyway. Devil's Lightning wasn't going to be in play to begin with.
Not with her 'Diamond Castle', anyway: those seeds that she planted before finally took form, and shunted up powerful, jagged pillars of crystal in the seeded area! They stretched a good thirty feet in the air, effectively making a makeshift wall behind the Kidmon. Propelled as he was, he might hit his back directly against a pillar, which would open him up to another 'spear' racing up from below to skewer through him.
Angel was never here to negotiate. Though the last arc of 'Devil's Lightning' would graze uselessly off the crystal itself, Savage would once more pull herself back up to her feet. Battered and worn, she spat right at Billy's words.
"Oh, you want to call it quits? That's on you, not me, 'Kid'." Still feeling Denryu's energy flow through her, she let out a snarl as she took back to the air. "Some piss-ant living in their ideal fantasy cowboy world ain't gonna scare me off."
Angel uses 'Sinful Claw - Overload' at point-blank range! Angel's 'Diamond Castle' activates!
Techniques: Sinful Claw - Overload Tensing one claw, the nails act as a base for a massive claw-shaped construct of crimson energy, before swinging forcefully at a target. Does massive spectral damage on hit, and eliminates move-generated shields in one hit. Three Post Cooldown
ULTIMATE: Diamond Castle Renamon litters the ground with a large number of seed pods, which burrow into the ground after activation. In the next after use, giant pillars of crystal, exceeding thirty feet in height, sprout from the ground in an attempt to eviscerate the opponent from below. Following this, the pillars remain for quite a while, acting as further cover to hunt down an adversary. Five Post Duration. Once Per Thread.

Well this is problematic, he thought. The claw buried deep within him and violently gouged through him. He felt him impact against a nearby wall and felt another rise up and skewer into his left leg, effectively disabling the gun. He cried out in pain as he kicked away from the pillar to land somewhere else in the sands. He hissed a bit in pain as he stood up."Oh I'm not living in a fantasy. I've seen what those guys up there have up their sleeves and it ain't pretty. It's going to take a lot more than a coup to stop some of those rotten scumbags. I never cared about a bounty from them. I just wanted to see if you guys were ready to handle that sort of thing. As such..." he took in a deep breath and sighed to steady himself "I'm still going all in."
Once more he began to whistle as he staggered between the Diamond Castle's pillars. He twirled the rifle in his hands. There's no way he could guarantee that this would work, given how straightforward an attack it was. Angel's abilities were really elaborate and had a set up time...but it was worth it from the looks of it.
He groaned as he fell onto his back, rifle still in hands, a few crystals between him and Angel. It looked like he was down and out, but he waited for the wind. Once the wind kicked up the sand around him, he would finally say "True Dream." before the ear-shattering shot rang out across the desert once again towards the pillars. Though it wasn't towards the pillars between him and Angel. He fired the laser towards the ones that would curve around towards Angel. He never tried this before, but maybe the pillars were just the right material to redirect the shot and take Angel by surprise. This 'defense' could become an iron maiden. If it somehow managed to hit true, even the Chrome Digizoid armor would be shredded.
------
Billy takes massive damage from a combination of Sinful Claw and Diamond Castle. He's on his last legs. However, he finds the strength to use True Dream at one of the pillars with the aim to have it reflect all across the Diamond Castle.
True Dream: Takes aim with his rifle, whistling a soft lullaby as he does so. He then fires, the blast echoing in the distance as it shatters through armor and defense. [3 Turn Cooldown.]
Cooldowns: Bullet Showering Deluxe 2/3 True Dream 0/3.

"Tch. Do what you want - just don't blame me for what happens to you."
Even with those words, neither Angel nor Denryu could see Billy as anything more than an idealist, and a foolish one at that. Billy might have been aware of what Luminas could do, the worst that they could be, but that wasn't unique to him.
Denryu had seen it firsthand, and fought against it firsthand. The desert incident itself involved seeing a dear ally maimed by Azulongmon's lightning, and Luminas' response in the aftermath cost the General two of his closest comrades. He didn't need to be told or reminded of just how alone he was, how isolated his position made him. "Angel. He's starting his aim again."
"Good." Where Angel was in the air, it really didn't matter if that gun was trailed on her. Taking a relaxed breath out, Angel did something that was perhaps unexpected from her frontal assault style.
As Billy waited, Angel simply vanished from sight. Using Kohenkyo so many times before, perhaps Billy would have thought that she just blinked again - perhaps behind a pillar? But this time, Angel simply tensed her wings, and began to move forward, strafing slightly off to the right. Even if Billy fired at this point, he'd be shooting blind, and the pillars themselves wouldn't reflect. Rather, they would splinter at the impact of the shot, and come crumbling down right at the middle.
Welcome to my parlour, said the spider to the fly... With Billy wounded as he was, all Angel felt she had to do was get one or two more good shots in. Might as well be certain that she could land them!
In contrast to her aggressive style before, Angel uses Invisibility to vanish from sight, and attempt to move herself closer to Billy. Techniques: InvisibilityFocusing, Savage vanishes from sight, becoming invisible until a technique is used. Max: 2 Post duration, 3 Post cooldown. All Billy could do was laugh weakly to himself "Sometimes I'm too good." he coughed as he stood up weakly. He hovered above the ground "Looks like I've made my bed...might as well lay in it." he said as he closed his eyes and just listened. He realized that she was out of sight, but she wasn't gone. This was a major disadvantage to him. He had no way to keep focus on her right now.
How could he get through this now? He just waited. Listened for any possible noise or change in the air. "I kind of regret not approaching you all as a friend. I think we could have made it work...I like you guys." he said. Though eventually, he'd say "Powder Keg." before tossing handfuls of black powder around him in the attempt to coat Angel in some of it, even using his wings to spread it out further.
After a few seconds pass, he would ignite the powder and remain in the smoke and sand, not moving. Stalwart in his position, he could wait as long as was needed. He was in this for the long haul and he wasn't going to be taken down easily. All this guy was missing was a cigarette in his mouth.
What were they going to do to him if they won? Load him? Revert him to a digi-egg? Let him go? This could be it for him. But there was one thing he knew for certain. The people he helped out with his bounty hunting ways. Not once did he regret seeing those smiles. They gave him what was needed to keep pushing through these dire times.

Billy waits for any sort of noise or movement near him before activating Powder Keg and delaying the explosion.

Angel might have had the advantage, but the battle had reached a standstill.
After all, this wasn't their first time around using Savage's form, and 'Invisibility' wasn't foolproof. It was natural that Billy would attempt to track her via sound or some other means, which meant that Savage couldn't move at maximum speed - lest he heard the disturbance of the wind. Effectively, she was walking towards her opponent, her feet just a few inches off of the ground to avoid leaving footprints as she gave slow, gentle beats of her wings.
All Billy could do was blindfire, though he picked a good means to do so: Powder Keg! It was effectively throwing a veil of sand forward, and if it hit, it would likely stain the Renamon, making her plainly visible! Unfortunately for Billy, the black powder would simply settle right into the sand - and even the explosion wouldn't reach Savage at all.
God damn little...
Not that she wasn't in line with the attack in the first place! Perhaps unknown to Billy, Savage abandoned the invisibility as soon as that gunpoweder was about to hit her, and vanished once more with a Kohenkyo, putting her against one of the standing pillars - now only out of sight as she was in cover! Ideally, Billy would still think that she was invisible somewhere in front of her - and here, she had an idea: whispering into her earpiece, she asked for something specific, from the Knightmon and Mailbirdramon near Denryu.
"If you say so..." The knight, an observer to this point, decided to act: raising his sword, he began to bang his armored hand against the center of the shield, the reverb of metal on metal radiating throughout the battlefield. This only had one purpose: sound pollution, something to distract from what Savage was actually doing: a tight kick near the top of the pillar she was hiding behind.
And with that kick, the pillar (which had sprouted up from the desert's sand, thus having a loose foundation) would start to tilt, and come crashing down right on Billy's position. The noise would mask the sound of that impact, and hopefully - hopefully - keep Billy unaware until it was too late!
Angel trades 'Invisibility' to use Kohenkyo, vanishing behind a nearby pillar to evade Black Power.
Raider the Knightmon simply hits two large pieces of metal together to make noise. Angel pushes over the pillar near the top, in an attempt to crush Billy underneath!

He's been around long enough to differentiate sounds. Why would Angel be that far away, anyway? Though it did make it difficult if not impossible to hear the sound of the pillar being kicked. One thing did tip him off about this though. The lightning was no longer in play here, so why was it getting darker? He swiftly turned and swooped around the pillar, flying along the side of it before shouting "Gunholic!" before shooting charged shots from his fingers with each small approach he made towards Angel.
Each shot he tried to get closer. He had to overwhelm her defenses and keep her from getting away for just a few more seconds. Once he got close, he punched towards her and a shotgun emerged from his sleeve. Just as soon as it appeared, the weapon blasted energy right next to her.
Despite this attack, it was clear he was tired. Almost too tired to continue, and definitely too tired to actually dodge anything after this. He stayed suspended in the air next to Angel regardless of the result and just gave her a small grin before he went crashing to the ground below.
He slowly stood up, shaking as he took his rifle out to balance on. Data streamed from his body, though he seemed content. The question remained, would this be a draw, or a crushing defeat? At this point he didn't even care. It was a good fight. One of the best he's ever had. "If you're still standing after that one, then damn...I concede. You're the better fighter this day." he said, coughing out a laugh.

In a last desperate attack, Billy manages to swoop along the crystal and attack with Gunholic
Gunholic: Fires several high-powered rounds from his fingers before revealing a shotgun under its sleeve and blasting an enemy point-blank. [2 Turn Cooldown]

Good, Angel.
Despite everything else happening around them, Denryu couldn't help but be proud of Angel in this situation. This wasn't an order that the General gave, but something that the fox thought of on her own. It was rough and unpolished, but one that certainly had its impact: Billy was much slower to react than he would have been if he could have used his ears the whole time.
But he did realize it. "Angel, your left!"
"Tch!" She failed to consider the position of the sun in her attack - but this was fine! Eyes locked right on Billy, Angel noted his current state, and decided to press right on with her own assault. Kicking off, and using her already weakened left arm to eat the majority of the assault, she grit her teeth as she met the guman head-on once more.
One prepared a shotgun, and the other put everything she had into her right hand: "Vicious Claw!" Though weaker than 'Sinful Claw', red-tinged nails still slashed forward, intent on raking the gunman once more across the chest with her straightforward assault. Of course, the blast of the double-barreled shotgun struck home, the fox's face contorting as she grit her teeth in frustration.
Hey, Angel! Keep it together!
"Damn it..."
Slipping down to the ground, the Renamon held her left arm close to her chest, right arm still tensed as she looked down at the gunman, data openly dripping from her chest and arm. And even now, Billy was taking this lightly.
"Stupid little..." Rather than attack, the fox simply pointed a single claw to what she viewed as a foolhardy foe. "You barge in here, guns blazing, try to teach my tamer a 'lesson', and that's how you end it off? Fucking-"
"Angel."
"Eh?!"
Throughout that exchange, Denryu had already started to walk forward, and would soon be looking down towards that struggling Kidmon - the still-fresh Knightmon and MailBirdramon at his side looking right down along with him. With the General's declaration, she remained silent, Denryu looking right down towards that struggling Super Mega.
"The bounty. What, exactly, was on the report?"

Billy closed his eyes and expected the end. But then something happened. Denryu ordered Angel to stop attacking and approached him directly. To honor this gesture, Billy threw his rifle to the side and knelt down with his hands behind his back so none of his weaponry was aiming right at him. He cleared his throat as he began to list the report on the bounty "Ah, where to start on that list...defiance of Luminas protocol, multiple charges. Theft of information and critical resources...an attempted raid on Ceresmon...bribing officials in Luminas, Terminus, and Whitewater for that information...let's not forget the icing on the cake, the whole desert incident itself which threatened the safety of the surrounding areas, including Rustport. This was ruled as an intentional disaster due to tampering with forces could have caused far, far worse problems if it was completely left unchecked."
He chuckled "That's quite the list there. Though honestly you sticking it to Luminas just makes me smile. Though I'm gonna ask you something. Something that I'm sure not a lot of people have since I can't imagine very many people giving you the benefit of the doubt here...why did you do it at all? What exactly were you hoping to accomplish with all of this, if it's all even true to begin with?" he asked. "And uh...sorry about the whole shooting at you deal. Truth be told if you could manage all that nonsense you'd offer a good fight and well, you did."
Despite his loss, he seemed to be in good spirits over the ordeal. He highly doubted that Angel and Denryu thought the same way, but why give up on trying to lighten the mood now, especially with Denryu approaching him the way he was.

Every bit of that report was true, from top to bottom, either performed by a member of his team or the General himself. To hear it rattled off by Billy in such a casual manner was a bit jarring, enough for Angel to give a derisive snort, but Denryu didn't bat an eye at a single word of it. He briefly held his Xros Loader out towards Angel, the five 'lights' that made up the creature breaking apart, before sinking into the device.
"You're far too kind to try to make a living as a bounty hunter." Denryu's retort was rather terse, but judging by the current situation, it didn't seem like he was interested in adding another notch to that list. Slowly, the crystal towers around them would begin to vanish, light bits of trash data beginning to whirl away in the wind. Billy took those few moments to ask a question that he'd definitely handled before:
Why do this at all?
"I hardly believe that we're given Digivices to simply sit on our hands with them." Denryu gave a sigh - was he really getting into this again? "You look at the world and see the problems - and how we might be able to band together to 'make it a better place'. Unfortunately, when you really want to make a difference, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty."
... And that was it. Denryu turned on his heel, not really interested to answer any more of his questions, briefly leaving the Knightmon standing over the MagnaKidmon.
"Don't seek us out again." The knight's words were toned as a threat. "Don't think for a second he's alone. Not with all of us around him."

Billy was a little surprised at the reasoning. To be honest...Denryu wasn't too far off. With the awakening of the Sovereigns, the hidden problems in the Digital World started to become a little more clear and steps were taken to fix things. His methods may have been extreme, but it seemed that Denryu's intentions were at the very least noble in his own way. "You've got guts. Can't say you're wrong though. You and your crew have set some pretty interesting things in motion, that's for sure."
He laughed when he told him he was too kind to be a bounty hunter. "I typically bag the loaders and the killers, friend. Someone like you? You had more motivation than some power hungry or murderous crazy. So I've still got plenty of targets out there. And after today I think I've only gotten stronger." he stood up and gathered his things.
Knightmon's threat was met with a casual two fingered wave as he walked away "I see that, big guy. Don't you worry, you won't see me again. At least not in a threatening way. Take care, now." With that, the strangely optimistic bounty hunter disappeared into the sands towards Rustport to treat his wounds and more than likely get a few drinks to dull the pain. He looked at the bounty note that got torn and battered in the battle and burned it away with a quick spark from his gun "That settles that." he muttered to himself.

Billy leaves the area. Metal Drive is victorious.

"The Loaders and the Killers? You'd do better as the police, then."
That was really all Denryu had to add to that - if Billy wanted to keep up as a bounty hunter, he wasn't going to stop him. The Knightmon gave a sigh of his own, and only after the gunner turned did he turn his own back, quickly catching up to his General's position, the man checking his Xros Loader.
"How is Angel and the rest?"
"They'll live." Denryu's comment was calm, briefly showing the screen to Raider, to show him the state of the Clinic Program. "At the very least, Angel got the actual practice she was looking for... tch, but now the freelancer bounty hunters are on us."
"Someone in old Luminas must be funding the hunt. Well?" The Knightmon looked down at him: "What are you going to do about it? Tenebrous might not be able to protect us forever."
That was a good question. Between this and DATS, Denryu didn't have a good answer to this for now. A simple portal opened up, leading to the depths of Underground Terminus.
