"I should of thought about how much these things would weigh... oof..."
Holly shook her head slowly and eased her way through the library proper, working her way upstairs in order to get to what amounted to the living spaces that her and her family were using. She had been out only for a few hours picking up a trio of packages she had put an order in for. She hadn't quite expected them to be so fast on getting them nor was she expecting them to arrive at the library so quickly which put her somewhat out of sorts.
The meicrackmon would ease one of her tendrils around the knob to her living space, pushing it open with a loud huff. Honestly why didn't she think to just order one at a time? Did she really need all of this raw material at once? Then again she also needed to know it's consistency and how it compared to the others. She knew that the biggest package was the one with the most in it so that at least made it easy to guess what the other two packages were.
She'd quietly trot into the living space and set it down on the mid-table. The same table that not even... two months ago she had sat down with a pile of letters to look over schooling. She winced as she heard the wood groan under the weight of the packages and worked about setting aside the two smaller packages before starting to tend to the bigger one.
"Definitely from the right source..."
The meicrackmon frowned slightly and started to cut away at the packaging, she wasn't going to bring these into her room. She'd just have to carry them further if she did. That and it wasn't like she was trying to hide what she was doing anyways! Though maybe she should of told someone she was ordering all these stuff.
"Notes notes notes..."
Humming to herself she'd quickly trot into her room, the glint of green easily seen through all the wrapping that she had pulled off of the package. She needed to check exactly how much she'd need to use for this first test anyways...

It went without saying that Holly's antics wouldn't go unnoticed for long.
Ever since Holly's time with Fall Lane, Mikemon had taken it upon himself to be more involved in the Meicoomon's life. And really, who could blame him: Holly had gotten wrapped up with an assassin group of all things, so of course he was going to keep a closer eye on her! But even if he was more lax with his attention, it was hard to miss something like this going on in the Library:
A MeiCrackmon, lumbering around with a giant package and two smaller ones. It was enough to make Mikemon peek out of his office with an expression that just read 'oh lord, what now'. Right, right, patience Mikemon: the doctor gave a sigh, taking a moment in his office to just pinch the bridge of his nose. Just go out and ask, doc. Just go out and ask.
Putting a small smile on his face, he stepped away from his desk, and followed Holly to the main living area - just in time to see the larger cat rest that package right on the table! Hearing the legs groan, Mikemon bit his lip: "Ah - put that on the ground, please. That cheap coffee table won't hold that for more than a minute."
Past that little dad-moment, though, he'd press closer, recognizing the paper around the packaging. Interesting: "Rocks? What for?"

Holly knew that her Da would need or want to keep a better eye on her ever since the whole fall lane assassin group. She didn't blame him in the slightest and she felt that he was rather justified in wanting to be around his daughter a bit more. She'd tut softly and flick an ear as she could hear the mikemon move about in his room. It wasn't hard, he wasn't hiding his steps. Why should he? It was his home and his family was about for the most part!
"Oh right! Sorry about that Da!"
The meicrackmon jerked her head to look at her father and placed the notepad on the table before moving over to the largest package. Grunting she'd lift it off of the table and then place it down on the floor. She'd exhale a little bit and just take a seat at the table scratching at her head before looking to her father.
"A project I sort of had in the back of my head, ever since reading those books in your office I had something nagging in there."
She'd pull the notepad to her and hold it up to her father with a small earnest smile.
"They're uh, Data centric bits of Jade Da. Rare in all three grades available, but they were decently priced on the market. Good for synthetic data structures. I thought having something that I could show off for when I go to college would be a good idea."
She'd tap at the largest amount and frown slightly, staring up at her da before offering him the notepad that she had grabbed from her room. The notepad went into great detail about how she was going to work the jade; what she was going to do with it and the potential uses this sort of project could have long term.
"It took the better part of the week to come up with the schematics there, but all I was missing was well... the stuff to make it."

"Its alright, easy to forget. Easy, there..."
Looking on as Holly moved that package from the table back down to the floor, the doctor's ear flicked in interest as to what Holly was doing. Interesting - she was looking into jade as a synthetic data structure? Of course that sounded immediately familiar, Mikemon had tons of notes and books on the topic! "Heh, taking after your dad, then?" He didn't need to say it: simply stretching his arm out to the left, through a dark portal, Mikemon retrieved his red, spherical crystal, and carefully set it down on the table. He briefly traded it to Holly as he looked at her notes...
"And you've drafted this all in a week? Interesting... but you know you can always ask me for help with this, right?" Setting the pad down on the table, he motioned for Holly to look: "See this cut you have written here? If you do that, the entire thing will shear and split straight down the middle."
There was that, and a few other mistakes that the Mikemon could see at a glance. But looking at her work, honestly, 'dad' here was impressed! "Jade won't be clear like mine, well, not 'most jade' anyway. Hm... how do you plan to use it?"

"Is it? Did we have a stronger table before?"
Holly didn't pay too much attention to the furnishings inside of their house or at least she didn't pay enough attention. She'd gingerly run her hand along the largest package's contents, mulling over what steps she should be taking. She'd flick her ears and look up to her Da giving him a warm smile at first. But then he drew out that spherical crystal and her interest shifted quickly; she'd gently take the crystal and inspect it furrowing her brows and making note of just how hefty the item was.
"I suppose you could say that I am. It just felt right to write those notes and go for this project as it came into my head."
Then mikemon addressed the fact she had done this in a week. She'd dip her head in a small nod; she hadn't really done much this last week other than loaf around, train and figure out this 'project' of sorts. She'd lean over to look at the notepad; frowning somewhat when he addressed one of the important steps. That would cause it to shear? Well she couldn't do that then...
"I didn't want to bother you Da; I figured you had your hands full with stuff. You've been spending a lot of time in your office or out n about so... But yes I uh drafted it in a week, a lot of it came when I was laying down to sleep or just waking up. What would you suggest instead of the cut?"
The meicrackmon looked over her notes, her frown deepening and she'd trace her hand along the lines after the cut. She'd draw out a pen from her chest fluff and circle that particular section before writing down what her father had said. Another pause and she'd look up at her Da as he addressed the fact it wouldn't be clear like his and then followed with asking what she planned to use it for.
"Well the first two grades of jade are lower level in terms of grading and the last isn't a 'regular' type of jade by any means. As for the use? I'm... not entirely sure yet. I know the basis will lead to a synthetic core that will be directly linked to my own but past that I'm struggling to find a use for it. The data centric Jade would be highly malleable in that state so the sky is the limit."
There was a large pause and she'd slowly work on opening the two smaller packages. The middle grade seemed to be glowing softly while the finest seemed to be thrumming with a barely controlled energy.
"Healing perhaps? A weapon maybe? An synthetic core could also lead to an intelligence linked to my own. Information gathering? Something that could be used as a tool for the role I picked?"
The meicrackmon frowned and placed her hand on the finest grade, letting out a small sigh as she could feel that thrumming just past all that fur. What did she plan on doing with this exactly? It was an open ended project that she could reasonably do a lot with.
"Maybe that's just it though, maybe I don't have a plan for it and it'll pick on it's own based on my own needs. I don't know. But I'm very interested to find out what happens. What do you think Da?"

"Nope, same old cheap table as always..."
Which, of course, was why it was easy to forget. That thought soon went to the wayside - ironically enough - as Holly started to explain what she was doing, even saying that it 'came to her head', that she worked on it when she just woke up or went off to sleep. His ear flicked a bit in disbelief... but, well, that was Holly. "Well, when you're working with a cheap rock like this and you're just doing testing..." Mikemon stepped up to the package, set his clawed glove at a jutting piece, and broke it off with the rock still attached at the base. "Just try and practice with the cheap stuff. Try sanding it down to marbles and polishing it into spheres - you want as few 'seams' or rough edges as possible."
Ironically, that would be easier to do with a higher-grade and more expensive jade, but practice with the rougher stuff would do her well for it in the end! He offered his crystal to Holly to examine for comparison, as he listened to her intent. Really, a synthetic core? "That's a bit of a lofty goal, though I'm interested to see your notes on it. Core work is, well, rare in the medical field." It was about the equivalent of heart and brain surgery all in one, and Mikemon might have been one of the few specialists in the world on the subject.
Asked for his opinion, the cat gave a grin: "Well, I think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, is all! Even if your first few sets don't work out, cut jade is a cool thing to look at. Maybe you can keep a marble set from your test spares!"

"Huh... maybe we could get a better table sometime?"
The meicrackmon ran her hand along the table; quirking a brow at the fact that the table itself was cheap. It certainly had seen and been through a lot in this household hadn't it? Holly wasn't expecting her father to take the experiment so well or at least accept it so easily. She'd manage a small smile and lean to watch him. Flinching visibly however when he broke off a piece that had been attached to the base.
"Gonna take a while to make multiple sets. That was the plan to practice with the smaller stuff. With... sandpaper or something or....?"
Holly leaned to break off her own piece, inspecting it thoroughly and flicking her ears as her Da told her that it was a lofty goal. She'd bury her lower half of her face in her fluff and just nod slowly.
"Well it just... well it's either that or some sort of mix or something it's... uhm. Well the notes I have are all right there Da. They would have to be based off of the books I read from your office."
She'd tap her head quietly and then perk up as he spoke once more. The apple didn't fall far from the tree? Wait was he saying he had done shady work before too? Or was that just meaning this? She'd roll her shoulders quietly and kneel down to look at the 'worst' grade.
"Or incorporate them somehow to the overall experiment itself. We'll see. Uhm... Well. Maybe I should take this stuff somewhere other than the main living space itself? But marbles could work... could be fun hmm hmm..."
The meicrackmon leaned to look at the best grade and compared the 'worst' to it, she'd frown a bit and scratch at her neck nervously. She wasn't sure how exactly she was going to go about this now that all the jade was in front of her but... just maybe she could figure something out in the long run? Or perhaps it would come to her in some fashion? She'd hold up the best material next to the sphere and tut softly.
"What did you make this out of Da? It's... definately a better grade than that I picked."

"Sandpaper's a part of it, but not the most important thing. I mentioned it before, but you have to consider the rock's shear."
Starting with that, Mikemon took that cheap rock, and tapped at a 'fault' in the rocky base, motioning for Holly to look closer. "Though the rock may be in one piece, you have to make sure the jade is all part of the same shelf - or it will simply split in half as you try and cut across it. You'll start by breaking off each 'fault'," Mikemon started to split the rock apart at each seam, "Until you're left with something like this."
He'd set it down, a green and black rock roughly in the shape of a cube. "From here, you'd cut it roughly into the shape of a twenty or forty sided shape - careful to keep it as symmetrical as possible - and then you'd sand out the edges to make a sphere. It has to be a sphere, too: any edge will decrease both its durability and its ability to efficiently coordinate data."
Setting that piece of rock aside, he'd give a nod to Holly as she explained her process. She worked off his notes to come this far, and even started to ask advice! "Oh, no, you're not doing this in the living room - or inside at all. Rock dust in the air is not a good idea, and ma picks up dirt in her fur way too easy for that kind of dust to be floating around." That aside, he'd inspect that best grade of rock, tilting his head curiously at it.
"Hm... judging from what I see here, it'll definitely incorporate whatever data you want to use it for. But given its size? You'd have two shots to get it right, at best..."

"The shear?"
The meicrackmon blinked and leand to look at where her Da tapped. She'd frown slowly and consider what he told her. If that was the case she might get more or less out of this stuff than she initially anticipated. Tutting to herself she'd flip through her notes and circle the refinement process, adding in a few lines about the shear and the sanding. It was mostly just re-iterating the information that her Da had just told her but a few other things she was considering. She'd draw out on her notepad a small example of the shearing before placing the notepad back down.
"So finding the faults, making sure that it doesn't shear and sanding it down to meet the 'smooth' requirement. Slow methodical work... hmm?"
Wait... Twenty or Forty sided shapes? That was a large difference between numbers and holly herself blinked as she examined the rock that her Da had set down. Furrowing her brow as he continued on about how it needed to be a sphere. She'd flip through her notes to the shape segment and frown, she had only listed a sphere as a possibility not an absolute. The cube or triangle formation seemed more right to her but... She wouldn't argue with her da on this one. She'd put a little X next to each of the shape segments that weren't the sphere and then a checkmark next to the 'sphere'.
"So the sphere formation is the most efficient and durable. Symmetry would be easy to spot but... sanding it down and keeping it even on both sides might be difficult... slow and methodical. Watching out for edges..."
The meicrackmon ran her hand along the jade portion that her Da had set aside, mulling over the information that he had given her. She'd quickly jot down a few separate entries in her notes and then bite on her lower lip. The best grade of Jade seemed to react to the nearest core to it, thrumming in tune as it tried to match the same wave. It's cut and shear was very fine. Though something was somewhat off about it; perhaps it was a little too fine. She'd frown slightly however when he stated she wouldn't be doing this in the living room or inside at all. So where was she supposed to do it?
"Where would you suggest that I do it then? And... Yeah that would make sense. Her fur being as white as it is. She'd look a bit green if I did that here wouldn't she?"
There was a joke about being sick in there somewhere and the meicrackmon giggled softly. Hell she'd be looking a bit green herself! She'd lean and run her hand along the best grade of jade, shivering as she could feel it thrumming still. It had been the most expensive, hardest to find a proper buyer and with Iris' help she had managed to find someone that wasn't simply trying to get her bits. Heck they had even been through a proper channel!
"So I have to make it count..."
Holly gently picked up the Jade, staring at it quietly. She'd bite her lower lip again and move it slightly so she could inspect each of the flat surfaces. She'd breathe out softly and turn her attention to her Da.
"I don't think I could of picked a better material for this."
The meicrackmon set the jade back down into the packaging and just stared at it quietly. She had a few things she had in mind for the end game of the project but that would require it to work in the first place. She'd tut softly and just shake her head.
"Earlier you asked how I planned to use it and well... "
No point in really lying to her Da here, not with all the items sitting here and staring him in the face. No? Just a deep breath and she'd exhale it out in a slow somewhat exasperated way.
"I want it to supplement myself in some fashion or another. Healing, Weapons, Artificial intelligence of some kind maybe? All of my forms have regeneration or abilities that can keep myself going. But nothing that can really help others. My forms are very 'physical' and ever since getting the ultimate level they've been more instinctual and been good at keeping myself safe. Hundreds if not thousands of possibilities."
There was another drawling breath and she'd rub at her neck.
"But I can't help but think of the Doctor I want to be and look at this... 'core' and wonder if I even need to choose?"

"Its tricky, slow work, and that's before you even consider the enchantment. Depending on what you want to do, you'll need to figure out what size and quality you need."
That part was definitely a bit abstract, at least in thought, but Holly was catching along fairly quickly. She seemed disappointed that it had to be a sphere (made out of jade, essentially a giant marble), but she seemed to understand the reasoning well enough. As to where she could do it? "Mm... outside, backyard? We can set out a good ol' work table and you can go through as many samples of this 'scratch rock' as you want." Tapping the big lump of mineral, and chuckling at Holly's mention of K being 'green', he watched as those gears turned in her head.
She had to make it count. She had to figure out how to use it... and she already had an idea, or, well, several. "... I take it you're leaning to figuring out how to heal, then?" Mikemon considered that, and picked up his own red crystal: "This one here is a catalyst. When I use it," Mikemon let his right hand pulse green with healing energy, "it refines the data signal I push through it." He let that healing hand grasp the orb - a powerful green light shining through, its warm, radiant glow felt almost across the entire room!
"That's how I started with it, anyway. But it eventually branched out." He changed the signal - and the crystal sphere became a jagged one, bits of red crystal falling off onto the floor before dissipating into thin data. "It's a shield, a weapon, a lens, and an 'accent'. There's definitely a fair bit you can do with your own."

"Size and quality... Well I want to use as much as I can, but from what you said I only have two tries at the best quality? So what could I do with the best quality?"
Depending on the limitations of the data centric Jade that would hopefully help iron out what she could do with it. She considered the idea of the different shapes for a few lingering moments and simply shook her head. It was pointless to doubt her Da about something that he knew so much about. She'd flick her ears a bit and then bite her lip slightly as he suggested that they should do it outside in the backyard?
"I think keeping the shavings of the different kinds of jade will have some merit in the future one way or another Da. I'd like to be able to collect them somehow..."
The dust itself could be used for a lot of different things too couldn't it? Maybe something to help her later if she needed it. Never knew what you could use such a dust for after all. There were a few things that could be linked maybe? It would be hard to really grasp it without actually.. having the dust in front of her.
"It's something that would make the most sense right? My body naturally heals the damage that it takes but I'm unable to help others. But barring the ability to use it for healing I don't mind it being used for other things."
The meicrackmon leaned slightly when her Da used his orb in tandem with a pulse of green energy from his hand. So this thing was a catalyst? She'd consider that for a long few moments and then adjust some of her notes on the subject. A catalyst could be useful for her abilities or for others too... Then another flicking of her ear and she'd stare at him. It started out as a catalyst then branched out?
"So as it got more used to you it filled your needs? I.. Yes there is I suppose."
The meicrackmon sighed a little bit, staring at the crystal sphere. It turned into some sort of jagged length and the meicrackmon was greeted with some of the crystal falling off. She'd lean to look at to where the data had fallen and would frown slightly. Flipping through her notes she'd write on the last page the steps that her Da had suggested.
"One of the more final steps in all of this Da is linking it to myself. The one part of this I'm not even... sure how to go about. But the more I think about it the less it makes sense and the more ideas I have. It's weird."
There was a distinct pause and she'd run her hand along the medium grade; tinkering with a few ideas in her head before smiling to herself. Stooping down she'd pick up the 'worst' grade with a grunt seeming ready to get this project underway.
"Lets get a work station up and going then... I have a feeling I'm going to be at this for a while! Heh..."

"That's why you're doing tests on these other rocks, Holly. Don't rush through your thinking so much."
Holly was smart, but by god was she impulsive at times! Still, this was fun for the doctor: Holly was taking an active interest in one of his specialties, and whether she knew it or not, this sort of data work would go a long way in the medical field. His ear flicked at the idea of Holly saving the scraps, the cat giving a shrug as if to suggest 'maybe', as he wasn't sure how much would be usable in that sort of shape.
Of course, the Meicrackmon was interested in Mikemon's own orb. Yes, he branched out with it: "Yes, but to be fair, this ruby is a higher grade than that jade, both with simply 'being a ruby' as well as its overall quality." That, and it was the sphere affixed to his staff as a Barbamon, so he knew most of these tricks by heart, anyway.
"Mm... that's why you have to cut the tool yourself. You'll understand how the jade responds to your data the more you work with it. And besides, you'll have a lot of time to think: edges don't round themselves out so quickly." He gave a nod, and would lead on downstairs! "I think we still have a few tools in the cellar. Let's see what we have to work with."

"S-sorry Da, I can't help but get a little ahead of myself..."
Holly let out a small nervous chuckle but honestly could you really blame her? She wanted to do her parents proud at this point after the kerfuuffle with the assassins she felt like she was becoming the problem child. At the shrug with her suggestion of keeping them she felt a touch silly. But she wouldn't know what she could use them for without actually trying...
"It must of taken a while to work on too.."
Holly stared at the sphere for a few long moments, quietly hefting the jade as she mulled over what she'd have to do with it. There was a lot of steps and thankfully she had someone that would be able to guide her through all of them. She'd blink a bit however when he addressed the fact that was why she needed to cut the tool herself. Then of course, yes it would take a while which would give her even more time to think about it!
"I can imagine, but it probably would vary material to material!"
She'd smile sweetly and follow after her Da, trying to make sure she didn't drop the jade by accident and grunting quietly as they managed to get to the 'ground' floor.
"Think I should put this down somewhere first before we go grab the tools? I can just have a clone watch it while we look."
The meicrackmon rubbed at her face with one of her tendrils looking somewhat out of sorts. Ever since the whole assassin thing she had been using her clones less and less while relying on herself quite a bit more. She didn't see it so much as a crutch per say but she did realize that the effort might be a problem if she grew to use them too often...
"I think it's interesting though. Ma has her Saberk, you have your Orb. Sis has saberkish stuff and I got uh... Uhm. Well. Something and then Bro is a renamon! We all got something from the both of you. Though the both of them being in the knights is... well a little... erm what's the word?"

"Mm? Oh, just set it out back, near where we're going to set up. We'll have to get a couple of things."
Mikemon didn't object to the use of a clone, but at the same time he didn't really see why it was necessary. It wouldn't take long to get the items they needed, either, though admittedly not everything was on-hand. They would soon bring an old, sturdy workbench out to the back along with some sandpaper, but that was hardly everything that Holly would need to use. So as the MeiCrackmon would set up the workstation, the doctor went on a small shopping run.
A few chisels. Rock polish. A dustbin. And a few other small, manual cutting instruments, to help Holly as she would work on shaping the rocks into place. As he brought those tools in, he gave a flick of his ear at her words. "Mm? Well, its not just us: you got your lightning from ma!" He gave a smirk, but then blinked as she mentioned the Knights.
Well, yes, that was interesting: "Its in line with what Syre wants to do, and Siris really needs that structure and discipline. But don't think that you have to join just because they did - you can do what you want, and if that's 'being a doctor' then I'll help you out however I can with it. Now..."
The doctor stepped back, looking at the set-up. "How's this look for you?"

"Oh! Okay!"
Holly would perk up a bit and smile at mikemon before sending her clone off with the large hunk of jade. The latter of which made a grunting sound and glanced up to their 'host' before trotting off to where they were going to set up. Thankfully it didn't take too long for them to get that sturdy workbench out to where they needed it. It'd take her most of the time that her Da was out to get the workbench set up properly as she kept on wanting to turn it or shift it in some other fashion.
"Wait ma can use lightning?"
The meicrackmon blinked dubiously but then he continued on about how it was what Syre wanted to do and how Siris needed structure or discipline. She didn't really know why he needed both of those, was he really lacking in that department? She'd lean quietly and tilt her head slightly as he told her as she didn't need to join because of them. But... that was three out of the five family members they had in there!
"I'm... just asking because I just found it.. strange? Strange. Maybe strange. I don't know it's hard to really explain. But yeah I don't think I'd be a good fit for it, I like the idea of being a doctor. And I'm grateful you're willing to help me Da."
The meicrackmon rubbed at her chin and stared at the workstation now that it was set up properly. Furrowing her brow she'd move forward to sort of poke at all the tools that he purchased or brought along. Her clone of which was sort of standing off to one side with her arms crossed.
"It looks like it'll work for what we have in mind. Do you mind if I go now?"
"oh! Right yeah. Sure! Thanks~"
The meicrackmon clone snickered a bit before just simply vanishing in a puff of smoke. Holly blinked a little bit and then turned to her Da with a furrowed brow.
"But like she said it looks like it'll work for it! First I have to break this all apart and then sort out the different sizes... then I can sand them down. Might be a touch difficult at first but we'll see..."
Holly would then turn to her da and give him a firm hug before going back to her jade. Looking into starting her work on it, lord only knew how long it's actually take her to. But she'd start with breaking apart the jade rather meticulously. She even seemed to be mumbling to herself!
