"Well, having a map is one thing! But one must also know how to read it, and tell where they are. I think we failed in both, though. Oops. But, don't worry. We can learn, can't we?" Nereid told Karin, with the hope that her words were able to keep the group's hopes up.
She did light up at Andrei's desire to visit her birthplace, though! "Of course! Come by anytime! It's essentially an always-moving building, which might make finding it a bit hard...But at the same time? It's super huge, so it's hard to miss." That last part was directed to Karin and Freya. Anywho, Andrei asked another question. Her moms? "Oh, one's a Betamon--toad fish dragon thing, and the other's a Tinkermon. Which is a fairy! They're the best moms. Um, Mizu, the Betamon, lends me video games sometimes and Titania, the Tinkermon takes me to the Human World sometimes too!"
Whether or not Nereid was adopted or the actual biological daughter of two slovenly-ish Digimon was anyone's guess, but the truth still remained the same. That was how her moms were. "Well, perhaps your partner might come to you? I don't know. Let's keep going!"

"Well at least the interface is easy enough," Karin commented to Nereid, crouching down and showed her the screen. it's pretty accurate, with slightly transparent icons of tree, bridges, and all that. The map looked like any minimap in games tho, with mostly light blue for the 'walkable lands', and deeper blue for lower and higher elevation, with proper arrow to show if they goes up it'll be higher or the reverse. The unwalkable paths are marked with deep, almost dull dark blue.
"Ara, what partner do you have? Well... it can be anything honestly. Digivice color is no indication of what partner you may have. it's usually just your image color. Digimon partners can be anything to be honest. But I sure hope that they will be kind to you, or at least acts as a compliment to your character."
"Is there any pattern?"
"None whatsoever. Usually not even 'common goal' is a pattern. There are actually cases of partner Digimons and their human clashed so bad. But usually, because the theme of 'Linked' are bonds, that means eventually you must get over it."
"...Sounds complicated."
Freya laughed. "You can say that again. Also Reid-chan, I'd love to sometime visit if that's fine with you. As for you, Andrei... well, partners attract one another. It might won't be today or tomorrow, maybe it'll take a week or a month, but sooner or later you'll meet them. Trust me. And trust your Digivice."

So Nereid's parents were a... Fairy-digimon named Titania, and a weird frog-fish-whatever named Mizu? Andrei couldn't help but smile warmly, genuinely, and nod as Nereid talked about how great they were, listening closely. "Family's a wonderful thing, I'd think, and it, uhm, it definitely sounds like you have some wonderful moms, too!" He'd muse out loud to the little clam, shoving his hands in his pockets as he did. "A good family, people you can feel happy and close to, is something worth treasuring." He couldn't help but think back to his parents, though... It'd probably be some time - especially if time in the Digital World passed faster than in the real world - before they'd notice that anything is wrong... But it still made him a bit uneasy, made him kind of miss his family back in Louisiana, that he was so far away from them.
He didn't dwell on it too hard though, he had gotten upset enough earlier as it is. Instead, he'd listen to their responses about him wondering what his partner might be like, and whether he'd meet them anytime soon, nodding slowly. "... Yeah, I.. certainly hope that my partner meshes well with me, too. Geez, though - I guess my partner could really be anything, huh?" He smiled a bit sheepishly, hopefully - he couldn't even begin to imagine what type of digimon are out there, with how varied the digimon he'd already met were. Would he get a flower digimon like Freya? A clam-fella like Nereid? Or even a digimon like Nereid's parents? Andrei couldn't help but think it over, continuing "I don't wanna keep them waiting for too long, like I said before, but it's good to know that we'll likely meet someday - even if I don't find them immediately.." as they walked along.
Though, as he pondered over his potential partner, another question came to mind. "... ... What's it like being partners with each other, by the way?" He'd ask Karin and Freya, glancing to them. "What's it like having a digimon partner, in a place like this?"

"Wow, that looks pretty innovative! ...I do kinda wonder how the Library would appear on that map. Or if it'd track it's movement in real time...Things to find out later." The Syakomon noted as she continued to slide along as though it were nobody's business. She was in agreement with the notion that there was no actual decided-upon pattern towards a chosen child's partner.
So, with that in mind? It could turn out to be anything. "I do indeed have wonderful moms. Um...There's this day called Mother's Day in the human world and I'm not sure what I should get them." She let out a pretty audible hmmm before looking to Karin and Freya. "You can visit anytime. I'm usually at the front desk. Lounging around on a pillow. It's very cozy!"
She was curious as to how Freya viewed partnership, however...

"...I'd like to know about that too," Karin added to the talk about partners. "...Some... people said that Freya might have a past life... and the more I see you in action, the more I think this is true. The more I think that there are something underneath that all... You're... you're some chosen's partner in the past, right?"
Freya, hearing this, sighed softly. There are something melancholic in her smile. "...Well, yes, I'm someone who was partnered to someone before."
"I knew it..."
"...But I guess that wasn't all. You see, I remembered three past lives... but you probably would rather I just talk about my old partner, yes? It's simple honestly... It was my second life, I think...? I was born an anomaly. An anomaly in where past data merged with a newborn Digimon, so i counted my 'second life' as that moment. My first meeting with 'her'... was something that wasn't at all happy.
I was an empty shell, a doll without feeling, bars my desire for revenge. Perhaps she pitied me, perhaps she felt that she's stuck with me, but she awkwardly let me lives with her. She's impulsive, brash, awkward... yet at the same time behind that coldness is her own brand of gentleness. I don't get it why she would stick so long with me, but she did. During the way, we made enemies, we made friends, we made close friends, all strange weirdos that sticks to us for whatever reason... And more and more, I felt like I'm slowly become whole. I'm not 'the old me'. I'm 'someone new'. I dropped my revenge as time goes on...
Our partnership was like that. You might find this weird, but... as much as she needed my protection, I needed her presence to stay the same. It's like having a person that you can confide everything to, and they would still stick with you."
"...But then... why? Why are you with me instead of her again?"
Freya smiled sadly. "Not everything should stay the same, Karin-chan. Can you truly call this me the same as the past me? Reincarnation isn't that 'easy'. Rebirth does not mean a Digimon stays 100% the same. They kept their identity, but at this point, the past me is no longer "this me". You can think me as someone who have read an entire journal of a journey of another digimon."
"But... but then isn't it excessively cruel to the one left behind?"
"...Humans are stronger than that, I believe, Karin-chan... Plus I believe it's better if they forgot 'the old me'. I... I might be a bit pretentious when I said this, but our co-dependence was to the point of something not healthy. As much as it breaks my heart to say this... it's better that we go on our separate way, to new beginning. Separation can come anytime, and at that point I hope it won't cripple any of us."
...It was a heavy talk. Freya sounded less composed than she is usually...

Andrei would smile warmly at the mention of Mother's Day, and Nereid's uncertainty over what to get her two mothers. Figuring out gifts was pretty hard; god knew he'd been there before, figuring out presents for his parents but being stumped on what exactly to get. He'd scratch the back of his head a bit as he hummed with her in thought - before suggesting "Maybe you could, well, look at the things they're interested in? There's this one book series that Dad likes reading, and I once got him one of the newer books he was missing - and I got it signed for him."
Andrei would think for a second longer, adding "Could also simply surprise them with something like a nice dinner, or see if there's ways you can help out around the Library or, well, wherever. Really though, as long as the effort and thought is there, I'm sure they'll love whatever you decide to do as a gift for them."
As far as the talk of Partners went though, Andrei couldn't help but... Well, he got a little uneasy at how heavy of a talk this turned into. He wasn't even sure what to say to everything - especially since it painted a different picture of partnership than he had expected. Would his relationship with his partner be anything like the relationship Freya had with her first partner? Something unhealthily co-dependant? Something semi-dysfunctional...? Andrei frowned uneasily, and he honestly felt bad about his question having brought up this sort of subject.
Scratching the back of his neck uncomfortably, awkwardly, he'd mumble out a "S-sorry..." as the nervousness from before seemed to start to leak back into his demeanor, that comfortableness he had before starting to fade away as he glanced aside. "..."

"...That could work. Given I'm...made of half of each of them, I could probably be able to ascertain their interests and get something for them based off of that." Nereid mused, a bubbly noise emanating from within her shell. However, the notion of dinner definitely got her attention! "Yes! I could go see if I could get them some pizza!" Wait, why pizza? "I do help out around the library when I can! But Miss Usako--a robo-rabbit called a Calcumon prefers doing literally everything herself." Never mind that.
Nereid had a DECLARATION TO MAKE. "Don't be sorry! You wanted to know what it's like being partners with a Digimon! That's only one way it could turn out, and I think you're gonna find a great one! Trust me! And you two will definitely be as close as Freya and Karin are!" As sad as it was to hear that Freya's past experiences as a partnered Digimon had not gone so well, they couldn't just dwell on the bad.
There was obviously good to be found, right?

"Well... no, I'm sorry too," Karin apologized, rubbing the back of her neck. It's rare for her to get that emotional...
"Well, for me myself I'm just hoping that second time is a charm, you see."
Still, as close as they are? "...Um, that would be awkward considering that we just met and all that... If possible I want them to be closer than us," Karin admitted. "I still haven't really... gone to accept this truth about being chosen and whatnots. It's still very vague to me you see... And honestly, I can't say the trust is there yet. Freya is... still much of an enigma to me."
"Each humans are called to Digital World for unknown reason. I feel in the end, what you get after you entered the Digital World and then grow from it... it's like a rite of passage. Passage into the better you. So in the end, it's like another trial of life!"
"...A thrilling trial of life."
"Alright you got me there," Freya chuckled. "How close are we at the moment?"
"Quite, but not there yet. Probably few minutes more."

Andrei couldn't help but chuckle a little at the thought of her getting her parents pizza - it might not have been a fancy dinner, but he supposed if her parents really liked pizza, it could work! He'd look a bit curious about this Miss Usako, though - a... Robot rabbit? He took a second to ponder it over, what such a digimon might look like - before nodding in acknowledgement to Nereid. "Pizza sounds good - When I said a nice dinner, I was meaning something more like a fancy dinner at a place your parents like, or whatever. But if you think pizza would work, you could do a pizza party or something for them!" It's the thought that counts in the end, after all - and if they're happy, then they're happy!
Though then came Nereid's declaration - and Karin's own response, both of them reassuring him over his apologizing. Andrei... Still felt bad for bringing all of this up, in the first place, but... Their encouragement did help him smile a little. "I... suppose we'll see when I meet my partner, then...?" He'd guess out loud - wondering what this whole trial of life or rite of passage would mean for him. How might he grow, from a situation like this - and what would even happen, living out here in the Digital World...?
Well... It was hard to say now - but at Karin's mention of them almost being there, Andrei would glance up and ahead - trying to see if he could spot their destination.

"Yeah, but did you know that FANCY PIZZA exists? I should know, I've done a lot of research on the subject! I know about many kinds of pizza and what kinds are good and what kinds suck and all of that! So yes, a pizza party would be the fanciest dinner of all." Nobody, of course, had been implying anything like this whatsoever as far as Nereid had known. But she did think this'd make her parents happy.
"I wanna meet your partner when you find them." Nereid stated, after a brief silence to allow Karin and Freya to offer their own input on this matter (well, offer further input, really.) "I wanna see if they're a good partner or not. Um...Would you be okay with that?" She forgot to make sure if she was imposing where she shouldn't or not. Silly child.
"...Also, what do you guys think we're gonna find in terms of Trailmon stops?"

...Fancy Pizza? Karin turned on her D-Nexus and scrolled on the result. What she found would be... a pizza so ridiculously expensive in look that it goes up 2000$ in price. Even when she showed it to Nereid, her expression looked so absolutely disgusted at how expensive it is.
"That if you want fancy pizza, but if you ask me, just make multiple pizzas in bigger than large size. Like XXL or something. Each pizza is with different toppings. Or maybe you can just gather them, make it some pizza life cooking or something, like... bake the pizza together, putting the topping together... that's far better than to just sit and cook."
"Ufufu, that would be a fine idea indeed! A food created in togetherness would bring happiness no matter what, I feel! And Andrei, don't worry, meeting partner is just like love. Whether you fall in love in progress, or whether you fall in love the moment you met, no one know, but either way... you'll be partner. So I hope the best for you."
What would the stop will be?
"Most likely some platform, like a bus stop or something. Nothing too fancy, but one where we can just sit."
...Unfortunately, it's not yet visible on sight. The foliages are still too thick.

Fancy pizza...? Andrei hummed a second, but.. "Well, I suppose you've got a point, eheh!" He'd laugh gently, figuring that Nereid wasn't necessarily wrong. There probably was some real fancy pizza out there somewhere! Though he was more familiar with the times when he and his family, or he and friends, would order out for pizza. Though, Karin had a point, too, as he glanced to the screen on her D-Nexus, and... 2000$?? Yeesh! He couldn't help but wonder what they must've made a pizza out of to make it quite that expensive - gilded pepperonis?
But Karin had a point, too, about them making the pizza together... "Yeah, that seems like it could be fun - you could all work on the pizza together, and have a nice dinner together!" He'd muse happily - he personally remembered how he'd always help his mom and dad make dinner, when he was younger. "If you wanna go that route, maybe you could start by figuring out what toppings everyone likes?" He would suggest, smiling warmly as he thought back to when he still lived with his parents. He did hope he'd be able to at least hear from them soon, once this was all dealt with...
With Freya's and Nereid's questions and reassurance, though - Andrei would smile to them a little; seeming at least a bit comforted. "... Yeah... I just, will have to wait and see how it all goes, then. And yeah, I'd love to introduce my partner to you, when I meet them, Nereid." This was probably going to take time for him to adjust, but... He knew he'd figure this out sooner or later.
Nonetheless though, it seemed that he couldn't see anything beyond the foliage quite yet. Andrei would frown a little, but picked up the pace a hair - he was ready to get out of the swampy bayou, and take his first steps in getting home...

...Nereid couldn't see the D-Nexus from here, so when Karin actually lowered it so the Syakomon could see, her eyes kind of widened! So expensive...Must have been some damn good pizza. She looked pretty interested in the idea of just making multiple pizzas so it'd be one big pizza, though...That sounded cool. "Mmhmm! I'm gonna ask my moms the moment I get home." Nereid told Andrei.
Now, they had some work to do. They couldn't quite see through the abundance of foliage, so the group had no real idea what was ahead of them, if anything. While everyone else attempted to peer through the brush, Nereid simply tried to slide and push herself ahead to see for herself what lay beyond.
...Did she find anything?

Nereid was the first one to manage to press against the natural barrier. At first the thicket would impede her quite a lot, but thanks to Freya communicating with the plants, it slowly revealed what's behind. The bog no longer dominates the field, just a bit of wet ground, and a bit of puddles here and there... but close to where she exited, there is a small platform, complete with a place to wash the passengers-to-be's feet or even bodies. There are shower rooms here... why it's there? No idea but that's Digital World for you.
Karin who saw the shower room looked perplexed, but Freya calmly walked to the foot cleaning station and turned on the faucet. Rather than cleaning herself it looked like she instead decided that it's time to photosynthesis. There's about thirty minutes before the next train coming here, apparently, as it's written on the board, with a digital clock display above it.
"...Um... I think I'm going to shower a bit if you don't mind," Karin declared. "We have thirty minutes after all."

"That sounds like a plan!" Andrei would respond to Nereid, smiling warmly and brightly. "See? We figured out something you could do for them for Mother's Day, no problem!" As they pushed their way through the foliage with Freya's help, Andrei would be a little surprised to see the the train platform beyond. Whilst the small size of it was to be expected, what he didn't expect were the shower rooms and whatnot, for people to wash up while they waited! "Eheh... I suppose this is kinda convenient," He'd muse to himself, looking over the shower rooms for a second before glancing to the schedule and clock displayed to one side - it seemed that it'd be awhile before the next train would get here.
At hearing Karin's declaration that she'd go take a shower, Andrei would nod - "Yeah, I probably should wash up, too..." He'd remark, glancing down at himself, and the mud that was in his clothes; particularly his pants. "I'm a bit of a mess, heh!" Maybe he could wash his clothes, while he showered... They certainly wouldn't be getting any more wet than they already were!
Andrei would pick out one of the empty shower rooms, opening the door to it and stepping in as he began to wash up, whilst they waited for the train to arrive.
