Today was going to be a great day. No. The BEST day since David came to Japan. Today was May 3, the premiere of Lupinranger VS Patranger VS Kyuuger. David had been excited for this day for a long time now. He had never been able to see one of these movies in a theatre back in the States, and now a lifelong wish could be fulfilled. There was just one problem in that this little American boy didn't know any Japanese. But even that could be overcome. After a bit of research, he had found a theatre in Fukuoka that would have a single showing with English subtitles. Fukuoka, as it turned out, had a somewhat large population of people who spoke English as their primary language, and so a lot of thing in the town tended to accomidate for these people.
Fukuoka was halfway across the country, however. It took days of meticulous planning and debating for David to get his mother to agree to let him take a trip that long. He had to provide proof that he knew exactly what he was doing and where he was going. The plan was to be dropped off at the train station in Harajuku, not far outside Shibuya and take the Yamanote line to Shinagawa, then transfer to the Shinkansen that would travel the rest of the way like that. It was only on this very morning that David had managed to convince her to let it happen. With some trepidation that David was way too excited to pick up on, she gave him a bit of money for train and movie tickets, and took him to the station on the condition that he would text every half hour, except during the movie, of course.
It took a lot more concentration than David was used to outputting, but this was too important. This was probably the biggest adventure of his short life and was both the most excited and scared he had ever been. But this child is filled with determination, and nothing could keep him from this Sentai premiere. For the first several hours, everything went relatively smoothly. David had saved a few Japanese phrases in the notes portion of his flip phone so he could at the very least know how to ask for tickets and how to tell when his stops were coming up. Once at Shinagawa, David got transferred onto the Tokaido Shinkansen, exactly as planned. This was the longest leg of the journey, so the boy wanted to get some sleep. He texted his mom, set an alarm to go off in a couple of hours, and got comfortable. As he drifted off, he couldn't help but think that this train he had just boarded didn't look quite right. He hadn't noticed it at the time, but nobody else had gotten on with him, and it looked bulkier than he imagined. And was that a face on the front of it? These thoughts were quickly dismissed as he soon fell into a deep sleep.
Several hours later, David was awoken by a sudden small shake in the train as he heard an announcement overheard stating that this was the end of the line. Balls. This wasn't where he needed to be. A quick glance at his phone let David know everything he needed, his phone had died and apparently he had just slept through the entire train ride. Well, this was a problem. He'd have to get off and try to find a route back home. By this time, it'd be too late to get to the theatre and catch the movie. Greatly disappointed at this turn of events, David wasn't paying any attention to his surroundings as he stepped off the train until he felt something weird underfoot. It didn't feel like a normal floor.
Sand? It was the only thought inside David's unusually silent mind as he looked around. This wasn't a train station. Somehow, when he stepped off that train, he had ended up at what looked like a beach. After taking a single step and pivoting around, he was met with another startling revalation. There was no train station. No train. No tracks. No signs of anything depositing him here. There was just a vast stretch of coarse tan sand. In front of him was a long stretch of tall green grass while behind him was the waterfront. "Where even...." He couldn't even finish the sentence. Was he even actually awake? A couple slaps to the face confirmed that everything here was real.
"If you're ever lost, just wait where you are and let an adult find you." It was advice that he had heard numerous times thus far, but it didn't seem like that was applicable here. As he looked around, David couldn't help but notice the severe lack of people. If this really was a beach, then where was everyone? He decided that he would walk along the sand near the grass parallel to the water until he found anything, making sure to drag his feet slightly so that there would be a path through the sand. By now, all excitement and anticipation was gone, replaced with abject fear, though there would be no stopping. No just waiting around for something to happen. As long as he kept moving, he was bound to run into someone eventually.

Bors couldn't help but smile with excitement as he watched the fish he had just recently caught cook over the fire, a small amount of drool leaking from the corner of his mouth. Originally when he had arrived in the archipelago he had been expecting a much larger crowd, much to his surprise he had really only run into a few people here and there. Either he'd arrived in an area that wasn't as popular, or it was an off season. Either way he didn't mind, in fact, he preferred it honestly, the fewer people there were the less likely someone would try to start trouble with him. He came here to relax, not snap and accidentally hurt people.
Taking a sniff of the fish and letting out a pleased sigh at the smell, lifting the stick it was speared on off the fire, followed by him swiping his tail across the sand, sending some of it onto the fire and putting it out. Chomping down on the fish, he let out a pleased hum. "Looks like that guy wasn't exaggerating after all, this really is some of the best fish I've tasted." As he went in to take another bite he paused, his nose catching a new smell in the air. He frowned, it was a smell he didn't smell often, but it was familiar enough, it was a human. What was unusual was the fact that there wasn't the smell of a digimon mixed in with it, was he alone? Frankly he probably shouldn't investigate, but his curiosity was getting the better of him. Letting out a sigh he scarfed down the rest of the fish before rising to his feet and dashing off in the direction the smell was coming from.
Cresting over a hill he came to a stop, seeing the human walking along where the grass and sand met. Well, this is unexpected. He thought to himself as he watched the human. The human was young, possibly even one of the youngest he'd seen before. He was short too, probably didn't reach any higher then his chest. What stood out to him however was the look of fear on this humans face. While he'd usually try to sneak off without being noticed, the look on this human's face made him think otherwise. He couldn't just leave him like that, no matter how uneasy he was about being near people.
Dashing down the side of the hill, he came to a halt several meters away from the human. After mulling it over to himself, he called out to the human. "Uh, h-hey, er, human? Are you alright? Is...is something wrong?" He called out uneasily, raising a hand and giving a small wave.

Despite the fact that David was supposed to be looking for someone to help, he was actually barely paying attention to his surroundings as he trudged through the sand, head tilted slightly down. Too many thoughts went through his head to concentrate on the world around him. How did I end up here? I got on the right train, right? Where is here? The edge of Japan? How can I call home? How do you ask to borrow a phone in Japanese? ect. Even as Bors approached and spoke, his surroundings were little more than a blur, pushed to the back as panic took over.
"N-no. I me-Yes, I-" David looked towards where the voice had come from. The sight before him made everything stop for just half an instant as his brain failed to process what was directly in front of him. Is that a tiny red T-rex? Under other circumstance, David may have found the creature cute. However, in his current state of mind, being confronted by a goddamn dinosaur in the middle of a beach only compounded the anxiety he felt at the situation. David took a half step back, but words still spilled out of his mouth between sharp inhales as he rapidly dumped all his problems onto the Demityrannomon that had appeared.
"I-I just wanted. To go see a movie. And the train dropped. It dropped me here. And I don't know where here is. And my phone is dead. And my mom is probably mad. And now I can't see the movie. And I can't get home. And there's no train. And you're a dinosaur. And. And. And...." What started off as a somewhat normal speech pattern, despite all the sadness, rapidly increased in pace until he was practically not stopping between words or sentences at the end before just devolving into an inability to speak through tears. It was as if actually saying all his fears out loud compounded them and made everything suddenly very real as if it hadn't been before.
David just dropped to his knees in despair, feeling the coarse sand dug into his soft skin. There really was nothing to do, was there? He's stuck in a weird wherever this is with no way back, no food, no contact while his only companion is a miniature red dinosaur that he's probably hallucinating. David looked down at the sand again and closed his eyes and tears kept streaming out between sniffles. He wasn't full blown ugly crying, but it would probably get there before too long. Alright, clearly the kid wasn't okay, based on the rambling he was doing now. From what he could gather the kid had gotten onto a train to go see a movie somewhere, but instead of getting on a regular train he must of ended up on a trailmon. From there the trailmon must of dropped him off here and not at his intended destination. I probably should be thinking this, but what an asshole. It could of dropped him off at one of the cities or something, not in the middle of nowhere. He thought to himself with a grimace. From there the child rambled on about how he couldn't go home, see the movie, how there was no train, and-oh no. Oh boy, now the kid has collapsed and is sobbing.
Bors's grimace softened. Here this kid was all alone with no understanding of where he was or how things worked here, not only that but he didn't have a digimon, nor did he look like he'd be one of those spirit users. This kid needed his help, even if he had his concerns. He'd never be able to look his friends in the eyes again if they knew he'd abandoned a child.
Slowly approaching the child, he lowered himself down, taking a seat, only about a foot of distance separating them. Slowly lifting a hand up, he gently placed his palm atop the child's head, gently petting him. Jeez, he's smaller then I realized, his head practically fits in the palm of my hand.
He then spoke, using a gentle and comforting tone. "Hey, I know you're upset and panicking about this, but I might know a way to help you relax? Try to clear your mind, and then slowly take a deep breath, then let it out. and keep repeating that until you calm down, I've done that a few times myself and it usually helps. Once you can get your thoughts together you can ask me any questions you have."

With every step Bors took towards David, the sound of sand crunching between his feet echoed in the boy's head. What was this thing going to do to him? T-rex were carniverous weren't they? Was he dropped here only to be eaten? Japan is a crazy place. Why does anyone even live here if they have trains that do this? And then it sat down. Even then, it was huge. David couldn't see with his eyes still closed, but he could feel the imposing presence as it loomed over him so closely, almost double the child in height.
And then, a touch. David immediately tensed every muscle in his body as Bors set a hand on his head, but this wasn't aggressive. It was soft. Gentle. A tender caress atop his small head by a monstrous hand with talons easily as long as his own hands. Somehow it reminded him of a mother's comfort and cleared his mind of negative thoughts a bit. David opened his eyes a wiped away the remaining tears with his shirt's short sleeve. As he regained focus, his head was still tilted down, so the first thing his eyes landed upon were Bors' humongous bright red legs. His head slowly turned upwards as he got his first good look at the digimon, sizing him up. It spoke with a voice far more serene than its appearance would indicate as it attempted to calm David down.
Taking the advice of a dinosaur had not been on David's list of things to do today, but at Bors' behest, he began to take several deep and slow breaths before giving a warm smile. It was obviously forced and quickly faded, but it was just meant to show appreciation. From what he had said, it seemed that his newfound acquaintance was going to be helpful, answering any of his questions. But where to start? His mind was still too muddled to think of where his priorities should be, so instead, he asked the one question that seemed like it could fix the most problems at once with a positive answer. "Do you have a phone charger?" David held up his dead flip phone as if to show off what a phone is.
If things turned out favorably, he could charge it up, call home and hopefully explain things. He knew his mom would be pissed, and he'd have a lot of freedoms taken away. And after all the hard work that was done to convince her that this was a good idea. But at least it would be a step towards getting home. Hopefully. Luckily the kid seemed to be taking his advice, as he began to slowly take deep breathes and let them out. He eventually looked up at him and gave a smile, though it quickly faded. He had a feeling it wasn't a true smile, but gave his a smile and nodded his head in return. When the kid finally spoke he was expecting him to ask what he was, where he was, or something along those lines. However, the question he got kinda surprised him. "Do you have a phone charger?"
Yeah, that had kinda been unexpected, but he couldn't necessarily blame him either. Staring at the flipped open device...he called it a cellphone right? Yeah, a cellphone, he stared at the flipped open cellphone's black screen, and gave a shake of his head while lifting his hand off of the kid's head. "I'm sorry kid, but I don't have a charger for a 'cellphone', I don't exactly have any pockets on me to carry stuff." He scratched at the side of his head, thinking. "I mean, maybe at one of the resorts around here there might be someone who has one. Thought it's probably more likely you'd find one in cities like Terminus or Whitewater." He then tilted his head slightly, staring at him with curiosity. "I'm actually kinda surprised that was your first question, I assumed you were gonna ask me where you were or what I am."

Terminus? Whitewater? Those weren't cities that David was familair with, despite all his looking over maps the last few days to try and find his route to Fukuoka. They also just didn't sound like the names of other cities in Japan. They had a different pattern or cadence, but he wasn't quite sure.
"Well," David looked at the phone still in his hands "I just thought that if I could call someone, I could have someone pick me up and take me home." David stood back up and put the phone back in his pocket before leaning over and brushing off all the sand and debris from his exposed legs. Bors had inspired a bit of confidence in the boy. Perhaps the dinosaur could be of help and get David back to some sort of civilization where he could just catch a train back home.
"So, you said you'd answer any question, right? Should Bors give any sort of positive responce, David would take another deep breath before just pelting out question after question without seemed to take any breaths. "Where are we? Who are you? I'm David, by the way. Are we still in Japan? Do you eat people? Where is everyone? How do I get to Termninums? We should go there. Do you wanna go there? Can I ride you there? Is that rude to ask?" Now here was a far more normal David. From that last streak of questions, it seemed that he had only one thing on his mind now. Get to a town. Charge his phone or find a train. Get home. When the boy said he had hoped he'd be able to call someone to come pick him up and take him home, Bors winced slightly before quickly going back to normal. I don't think it'd be that easy kid. He thought to himself grimly. Then the kid stood up, and Bors did so as well, staring down at him. What soon followed was a spew of questions Bors barely kept up with, but understood for the most part. Giving a chuckle of amusement, Bors proceeded to squat down. "My name is Bors, and yes, you may ride me. And yes, I'll help you. I'll answer your other questions as we are going" After answering David climbed up onto his back, He then called back to him to hold on tight before he began running, heading in the direction he remembered seeing a resort.
"Now, as for your questions. First off, we are on a beach in the Binary Archipelago, a popular tourist destination in the Southern Tropics of the Digital World. Speaking of which, there are two worlds. The Human World, which is where I am guessing this Japan place is, and the Digital World, you are currently in the Digital World. As for who I am, I am a Digimon named Bors, specifically a member of the DemiTyrannomon species. Digimon is short for Digital Monsters, which is made up of various creatures who can transform into other digimon of various shapes and sizes." Bors paused, leaping over a log laying in front of him.
"Sorry. As for where everyone is, the resorts here in the Binary Archipelago seem to be rather quiet right now, guessing it is an off season. That is probably why you haven't seen anyone else. As for how to get to Terminus, that is a bit problematic, we are currently in the southern region of the Digital World, Terminus is located at the center of it and is the capital. Hopefully one of the resorts will have a trailmon station nearby and we can simply take a trailmon all the way there, as the only way back to the Human World is through the Trailmon station at Terminus, at least that is what I've heard." As they peaked over a hill of sand and grass, Bors stopped running, allowing himself to slide down the side of the hill, launching forward once more when they reached the bottom.
"As for if I eat people, no. I only eat fish, meat that grows from plants and trees, and the occasional fruit." He then glanced back at David. "I'm curious, have you tried turning on your phone since you got here? Maybe it isn't actually dead."

Elated by Bors' approval, David quickly mounted the bright red dinosaur. After getting situated and Bors began moving, David would have just the biggest smile on his face as the pair rode around. This was something akin to a dream come true. He had always wanted to ride atop Gabutyra from Kyoryuger, and this was probably the closest he would get. Bors moved a lot quicker than David ever had, even when sprinting. This feeling of wind on his face as they sped towards a resort was just exhilirating.
David's new friend began expositing quite a lot of information in response to his own dump of questions, and it was quite a lot to process. Not only was he not in Japan anymore, but he wasn't even on Earth? And this world was all Digital and inhabited by monsters who can transform? These were concepts that, had he explained in more detail, would have been far beyond David's ability to rationalize. However, the highly simplistic way that Bors had explained it made it easy to digest. What Bors described as a 'bigger problem' didn't seem too bad. Getting one Trailmon to go to another to go home. It sounded a lot like just hopping from train to train, much like what got him into this mess in the first place.
Suddenly, the two were sliding down a hill. It knocked David to the side a bit, and he struggled to hold himself on, accidentally digging into Bors' hide a bit in the process. The jump afterward didn't help matters at all, as he held on tight, his small body bouncing off his partner's back a couple of inches before landing back in the center again, a bit roughly. And yet, light chuckles were the response David gave to nearly being thrown off. "Do it again. Again."
Though David instantly forgot about it after what Bors said next. This was an important discovery, one that could revolutionize the world if it could be brought back home. They can GROW MEAT here. ON TREES! That is just incredible. The thought made David's mouth start to salivate and his stomach emit a long low growl. He hadn't really eaten since breakfast this morning and it had been, well, he wasn't really sure how long. At least 5 hours, but he wasn't sure how long he was asleep on the Trailmon that brought him here.
While thinking about that miracle of science, Bors asked about his phone. It was true, David hadn't actually tried to turn it back on. The thought hadn't occurred to him. In an effort to do so, David reached into his pocket and pulled out...something. "This isn't my phone." Examining the device closely, it looked like some sort of handheld game, but the screen was way too small, maybe only two square inches. It was mostly black and grey, but had some gold trim around the screen and buttons. How had he gotten it? Was it put into his pocket while asleep on the trailmon? "Hey, Bors, what's this?" David leaned forward on Bors' back and wrapped his arm around in front of the mon's face so thet he could see the Digivice for a few seconds before pulling it back and sitting up.
However Bors responded, David would be preoccupied pushing the buttons, trying to find out how it works. Eventually he pulled up a screen with several concentric circles. In the middle was a bigger dot and a smaller dot a few circles away. It made a faint rhythmic beeping noise, like a radar ping. He had heard this sound in a few TV shows, so it was familair and he knew imediately what to do. "Let's go that way." As David said this, he pointed out towards a large bit of taller unkempt grass. Bors glanced back over his shoulder briefly when David said something about having something that wasn't his phone, however he quickly returned his focus to what was in front of him. He couldn't risk tripping over something and falling, it'd be bad if David were to fall off, or even worse have Bors fall onto him. Before he could ask David to show him what it was, David held it out and asked what it was. Glancing down at the device his eyes widened slightly, in his hand was a digivice, the things that those tamers and spirit users used. "That...that is a digivice! I mean, it's kinda different from the ones I've seen other humans have, but that is definitely one. Humans that have a digivice are tamers usually, people who are partnered up with a digimon and help them to digiviolve or power up. If you have one David, that must mean that you are a tamer as well." Now it made sense as to why a trailmon would have randomly dropped David off in the middle of nowhere, he was suppose to find his digimon here apparently. However, that led to the question of who the digimon was. Wait...it can't possibly be-
Before he could finish his train of thought however he could hear a beeping coming from David's digivice, before David then pointed in the direction of unkempt grass and said to go that way. Ah, looks like I got worried over nothing. With a nod of his head Bors change direction, reducing his speed from a sprint to a light jog as they went into the grass.

Digivice, huh?" David mumbled to himself as Bors exposited about things he didn't understand. Thoughts spilled out, as talking things through always seemed to be the better way to understand things. "So if Digimon means digital monster, then digivice is a digital, um.... visomething? And people with one have a digimon friend? Is it you? Are you my friend, Bo-OOF" Suddenly, a streak of pink shot up out of the grass as soon as they were within a foot of it an impacted David sharply in the chest, knocking him clean off Bors' back and onto the ground below.
"Ugn. What?" David could feel the soft warm ground under his back in a couple areas. The fall and subsequent slide must have ripped the back of his shirt a bit. He didn't feel anything sharp or stinging, though. That probably meant he wasn't bleeding and didn't have to worry about infection, which was at least good. Slowly, the boy opened his eyes to be greeted by a very round very pink face with a literal ':3' shape to it. David couldn't help but stare, as he had never seen this particular facial structure in real life.
"Hi."
Once it spoke, David couldn't help but tense up as panic struck again. With that one word, the mouth that was not even a foot away from his face revealed teeth. Oh so many teeth, and every one of them sharp like canines. Now THAT was a meat eater's mouth. However, two things brough David back down to reality. First was the realization that eatible meat grew on trees in this world, meaning that things probably didn't eat each other like they did in his world. The second was where the pressure on his chest was. From it's placement, it seemed that whatever this was is tiny. David lifted up the creature by just putting his hands under its front feet and lifting before sitting up himself.
Now that it was sufficiently away from his face, David could get his first look at the thing. It was just an oblong ball of pink with two ears or antanae that looked like two strips of paper that had been idly folded at random, and four tiny nubs that passed as legs. Quite unimpressive as a digimon when compared to a tiny, yet flashy, Tyrannosaurus Rex. "So what kind of monster are you?"
The pink ball of squishy flesh had been flailing about and giggling madly as David examined it, obvously being very tickled by the boy's small hands under what could presumably be arm pits. Only after David had asked the question did it manage to shake itself free and land a few feet, facing the boy. "I'm NOT a monster. I'm a digimon." It seemed that term irked it, though not enough to have any vitreal last beyond that one statement. "I'm Tokomon. You're David. You're my tamer."
The statement was so matter of fact that it caught David completely off guard. All he could do was shift his glance back to Bors and utter a single word. "What? Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

Before Bors could even think of a way to explain David's new questions, a pink blur shot out from the grass to his side, smacking into the kid and knocking him off of Bors's back. Spinning in the direction that David launched, Bors let out a shout. "DAVID!" Several thoughts ran through his head, was he alright? What was attacking them? Would it try to run off with the kid? Was it a threat that might require him to digivolve? However, those thoughts came to a halt as his eyes landed on David and his attacker...could he even call it that? After all, the thing that was standing, or was it sitting, he couldn't tell with these digimon, on David's chest was pink little ball staring at him. A Tokomon if Bors's memory was correct. It didn't seem to be acting aggressive towards David, so Bors relaxed somewhat approaching the two.
As he made his was over to check on David he heard the tokomon introduce itself, say David's name, and then claim that he is his tamer. Ah, I assumed correctly, that beeping must of been his digivice telling him his digimon was nearby, explains why he said to go this way.
Coming to a stop next to the two, Bors couldn't help but grin when David looked to him in confusion and said 'what?' "Don't you remember? I told you that humans with a digivice are usually tamers that have a partner digimon. I don't know how it works really, but most digimon usually know who their tamer is before the tamer knows them. In this case, it would seem that this Tokomon" He points to the pink ball "is your partner, seeing how he knows you and called you his tamer."

Several long seconds passed as David, without moving his head, shifted his eyes between Bors and Tokomon. Time seemed to almost stretch on forever in what must have only been five seconds at maximum. Eventually, David's eyes settled on the Tokomon in front of him before repeating it again. "What?" Clearly he was clueless. It was written all over his face, from his slightly agape mouth to the eyes that seemed to look right through to something a thousand miles off.
"Do you..... Do you not want me?" Tokomon took a couple of slow steps back and puffed out his lower lip, which David didn't even know he HAD, as water began to well up in his eyes, appearing akin to a sad puppy. Taken aback by David's seeming refusal to deal with reality. If his partner didn't accept him, it meant that his purpose no longer existed. He had a literal destiny that could not be fulfilled. "Am I not good enough?" Clearly a reference to Bors, whom Tokomon had seen David having a good enough time with immediately beforehand.
At seeing someone else sad, David couldn't handle it. Instinctively, he wanted to comfort the Tokomon. Friend or destined partner or not, David couldn't stand to see anyone be upset at anything, much less something he caused."NO! I just..." He quickly reached out to Tokomon, but his hand only stretched about half way before he just let out a heavy sigh and dropped it to the ground. "I don't get it, but I was brought here to find you, right?" David took himself up onto one leg, both bracing himself and putting himself in a position that would make it easier to stand up, and outstretched his arms towards Tokomon, with a slight bend at the elbows. "So let's go home. Partner." Admittedly that last word was a bit forced. It's a word he hadn't used very often at all, as he rarely had reason to outside of school projects that required pairing up. And he had certainly never used it in this context before. However, it'd seem he'd have to get used to it. Still, he gave off a true, genuine smile that could warm even the most fridged of hearts, and welcomed Tokomon into his arms, and into his life.
Tokomon, of course, immediatley lept into David's waiting arms before they curled up and held him against his tamer's chest. "Yeah. I can explain everything better later." He shifted a bit before relaxing his diminutive leg nubs and putting the full weight of his body onto David's arms.
David carefully picked himself up, careful not to disturb or provide discomfort to the digimon in his arms and moved back over to Bors. "Sorry." That whole exchange had to be at least a bit awkward to watch when none of the people, or beings rather, involved really knew each other. "Let's keep going." If allowed, David would climb back onto Bors' back and let him keep travelling onwards. Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

Bors's smile was quickly lost once he noticed that David simply repeated 'what' again, this time to the Tokomon. Shit, had he not explained it well enough for the kid? Sure, he looked young, but he seemed to be grasping everything else that he had been explaining just several minutes ago. He then noticed that the Tokomon wasn't taking this too well, based on the puffed out lips, watering eyes, and questioning if David didn't want him. However, what REALLY worried him was the Tokomon's question of if he wasn't good enough. Now, Bors couldn't read mind, but he was pretty sure that that comment was in relation to himself. Oh Jesmon, please for the love of all that is holy David, you better not say he isn't. I do NOT want this digimon to come back later looking for revvenge because he blames me for being the reason that his partner didn't want him.
To Bors's immense relief however, David was accepting on the Tokomon as his partner, though something seemed a bit off in the way he said partner, however, it wasn't anything that really raised much of a concern in his eyes. After picking up the pink ball David came back over to him, apologizing to the dinosaur. Shaking his head, Bors gave a reassuring smile. "It's alright, he's your partner digimon. When it comes to him, his feelings should be more important to you then mine." He then squatted down, allowing David onto his back before turning back towards the path they had come from and running off. As he ran, he glanced back at the human and pink ball. "Perhaps you two should get to know each other better until we get to the resort."

Bors resumed his hightened pace towards the resort, while David was uncomfortably quiet. He knew he should say something. He knew he should talk to Tokomon about things, but quite a rare occurance has happened. He was unable to find words. Inside his own brain, he was racking himself trying to overcome this mental wall. He had understood what a tamer was. That was easy enough. It was the fact that HE was a tamer that seemed to be impossible to grasp.
Ok, so, a tamer is someone with a digimon fr-partner. Got it. They have a digivice to do.....I'll ask about that later. Digimon know who their partner is. From birth? Questions for later. Easy peasy. David has accepted these facts completely. And Tokomon is mine. And therein lay the doubt. It raised all sorts of questions that didn't have answers. How did I become one? Why me? How did he know I would be here? How did the train know to bring me here? For that matter, what happened to the train I was supposed to get on? Who gave me the digivice? How could he possibly be a tamer if he knew so little? This didn't feel like the proper place to ask. David wanted to wait until he was back home, probably in his own room, where they could converse in private.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Even if David couldn't seem to wrap his head around exactly what a tamer was, having a new friend in real life would be a blessing. Since they were so young, keeping in touch with his old friends from Kansas through the internet wasn't really a viable option, and he hadn't met anyone new in Shibuya yet. And if they were destined to be together, it meant that they must share some common interest and be compatible, right? Plus, maybe his mom would be on board with having Tokomon in the house. When they left their home, they had to give away their two cats and hadn't gotten any pets yet on this end of the Earth. Of course, Tokomon was sapient, so he obviously wouldn't be like a pet at all.
A few minutes passed in relative silence. By now, Tokomon was resting peacefully in the space between David's legs that were draped over the side of Bors, occasionally shifting a bit to get more comfortable as subtle shifts happen while they moved along. David had one of his hands resting lightly atop Tokomon's head, idly giving soft scritches near one of his ears. Finally, he broke the silence with a question. "Tokomon is the kind of digimon you are. What's your name?"
Tokomon tilted his head backward into David's hand as he looked his tamer in the face. "Name?" He hadn't really thought of it before. Most digimon didn't have names, per se, and were generally just referred to by their species name, after all. Certain special ones, or those who wanted to be different, would give themselves names or have one assigned, but those were somewhat uncommon. "I don't have one. You can call me whatever you like, David."
Now that just wouldn't do. Everyone needs a name, and David couldn't just keep calling him Tokomon. It'd be like being called "human" all the time. David cocked his head upwards a bit and put a finger on his chin, thinking. On the spot, he couldn't think of any name in particular. Or rather, he had too many names, as the name of every friend he had passed through, as well as the names of almost every single Power Ranger or similar. For a brief moment, he almost settled on Ryutaros but decided against it. "I'll have to think about that later." David then turned forward again and raised his voice a bit to get over the sound of air rushing by. "Are we there yet?" Everyone is searching for a world where they belong.
