It seemed absolutely unreal. Adrian couldn't believe how different things were this year than they were last year. For one thing, he met his best friend Shoutmon only a year ago after he suddenly showed up at Adrian's house. Ever since then, the two had gone on many crazy adventures, met so many new people, and gave Adrian more confidence in his life than ever before.
For another thing, Adrian has just graduated school. It was a wonderful and bittersweet experience, going through graduation and saying one last goodbye to his non-Digimon related school friends. He hoped he would one day see Jitsuko again, but he doubted that.
So to celebrate these two things, Adrian and Shoutmon decided that they would spend a day at the newly rebuilt Entertainment District. The two had seen it when it was demolished, like the old school was, but now it was fully rebuilt and bustling with activity. And of course, that meant Shoutmon had to wear a disguise yet again.
Only this time it wouldn't be the good ol' overly large blue hoodie disguise this time.
"Come on, Shout, it's not so bad," Adrian said as he tried consoling his Digimon partner. He was wearing a holosuit for the first time since the blue hoodie was too risky of a disguise. The once red dragon was now a five-foot-tall human with a bright red mohawk, still wearing that blue hoodie.
"You know I hate you right now, right?" Shoutmon growled.
"You can deal with it just for today, 'Shota'."

Kenny had heard rumours about the mysterious destruction of the Shibuya Entertainment District months before he and his dad were due to move to Japan, and how it was now nothing but a complete disaster, where only ruthless criminals and dangers lurked. But upon arrival, that couldn't have been farther from the truth. If anything, it was more bigger, and busier, than ever before, with lots of people moving around, and a lot of sights and scenery that made Parramatta seem minuscule in comparison.
Kenny had made notes to explore the Entertainment District more when he had the chance, maybe on a day off. Despite the fact that the entirety of Japan was literally much more smaller than the entirety of New South Wales (and the latter was just a whole state), this face felt a lot more packed than Parramatta could every hope to be.
Today was one of those days.
His D-3 was nicely tucked into his jumper pocket, with Skadi safely minimised. Of course, the second danger would up and rear it's ugly head, Skadi would be out faster than you could blink, ready to send it packing. An earbud was tucked into one of his ears, to give the impression he was on the phone, but in reality, he had his communication device on hand, keeping Skadi updated on what would be going on.
As he walked along the street, Kenny gave a light, happy sigh. "Man, it sure feels nice out today. I knew Shibuya was going to be big, but nobody told me it'd be that big." Him, being the former resident of the comparatively quiet city of Parramatta, was still trying to adjust to life here. He fit into his job just fine, but Shibuya just felt like a whole other kettle of fish. If anything, he and Skadi did at least share the same sentiment of being a little unfamiliar with their new locale.
Skadi gave a little chuckle in response, "That's what I was thinking when I got here for the first time." She joked. Her tone dampened a little, as she added "You know, it's days like these where I kind of miss being Mallimon. I at least could ride in the bag without any trouble, and could take in all the sights and sounds around me." Beat. "But then again, I know I'm virtually defenseless as Mallimon." Yes, Arkadimon was a one-off thing, but it was a thing nobody ever wanted to repeat ever again. "I wish there was some way I could still walk alongside you without attracting unwanted attention."
"Don't worry, Skadi." Kenny attempted to reassure her, "I'll try and find something, and before you know it, you'll be right at my side, once again, in public."
"Aw, thanks Kenny." It was hard to tell, but inside the digivice, Skadi was grinning from ear to ear. Speaking of, she felt her ears twitch again. "Hey, Kenny, I think I can sense another Digimon nearby."
Kenny's heart skipped a beat, once again. After all the shit with Arkadimon, he knew he had to keep himself on high alert. "Wait, you mean..."
"Don't worry! If they dare lay a finger on you, they'll be wishing they never crossed paths with us once I'm done with them!" She boasted. It was at this point Kenny had neared 2 people. One was a dirty hair blonde, not too dissimilar from Alan, but who wore goggles instead of glasses, and the other was a grumpy man with a mohawk. Dirty hair blonde was seemingly (unsuccessfully) trying to reassure Mohawk about... something?
At least they spoke clear English, if that helped.
At this point, Skadi's ears twitched more from inside the digivice. "It's close. Very close. I can sense it!" She commented. Kenny looked around in response. No Digimon visible. Kenny prayed that whoever that was, they weren't going to pull an Arkadimon and try to strike him down that easily.
Still, Kenny did feel this little urge to talk to them, and maybe help them out, if they needed any help. And if a Digimon was going to try and strike Dirty Blonde and Mohawk down, at least Skadi would be there to help them. Reaching out to tap Dirty Blonde on the shoulder, he asked "Uh, hi. Do you need any help or something?"

Even though Shoutmon was clearly against holosuits, Adrian decided the risk of not having one while hanging out was too great. So before they came to this district, they made a quick stop in Terminus City to purchase a holosuit. At least Shoutmon kind of got to pick what he looked like?
"I still don't see why I couldn't just wear the blue hoodie," Shoutmon said, pouting while his arms were crossed. "It worked just fine before, didn't it?"
"No, not really," Adrian said quietly, to avoid having someone eavesdrop on them. "With that hoodie you just looked really off. We were getting a lot of weird looks from other people. You don't have to wear it every day, you can just chill in the V-Pet. But if you want to be involved with fun human world stuff, you have to wear the holosuit. Besides, by human standards you don't look half bad."
"Heh... thanks, I guess. I still despise this thing, but I guess I'll put up with it if it means we can have some fun." Right as they were done talking, someone came up to the two of them asking if they needed any help. He must've overheard them. Tensing up, they both just acted casual.
"Oh no, nothing's wrong, man," Adrian said, speaking in English since he did notice that the man was indeed a foreigner. "How about you? Do you need help navigating Shibuya?"

Even while stuck in the Digivice, Skadi could still sense something nearby, and both still were keeping on guard. After all, ever since the Arkadimon fight, both parties were on very high alert. For being just a Rookie level, it managed to inflict both heavy physical and psychological wounds upon them. Kenny was trying his absolute hardest to stay calm, and while he was doing a very good job at it in public, eagle-eyed observers could tell his breathing sounded a little louder than normal.
As Dirty Blonde addressed him and asked if the young man needed help to navigate Shibuya. "No, no, I'm fine. I've actually been here for a bit. It's fine, but thanks anyway." It wasn't exactly on Kenny's mind, in fact much of the layout of Shibuya had been burned into his mind at this point anyways. Besides, that metaphorical elephant in the room was at this point constantly jabbing at his chest and would refuse to relent. "Besides, I'm just wondering, uh..."
How was he going to word this to Blonde anyway? He did hear Blonde say 'V-Pet' to Mohawk, that could be a good clue that he was a Tamer. But what in the good name of God's green Earth was a holosuit, anyways? That sounded like some sort of fancy Sci-Fi technology that movies set in the future jumping the gun would claim would be real by then. But then again,
"I'm just wondering," He started again, "Have you seen any monsters around here? I- I mean, I've heard rumours that monsters have been lurking around the streets of Shibuya, and I don't know if that's true or not, but I want to stay safe, just in case."
Dammit, that was awkward.
He wasn't going to just up and mention he was a Tamer all of a sudden, but if anything, Kenny wasn't gonna take any chances. And monsters just up and devouring him alive, especially in the streets, was something he, nor Skadi was going to risk.

The two of them tensed up when the man had asked his question. At first, Adrian and "Shota" thought nothing of the guy, he just seemed pretty awkward. Still, they weren't really expecting him to ask what he asked, which was if either of them had seen any monsters around Shibuya,
Is... is he talking about Digimon? Adrian thought to himself. Is he a Tamer? No, no, he seems a bit too awkward to be one. Besides, unless he's hidden it really well I can't see his Digivice poking out of his pocket anywhere. There have been rumors about monsters lately, especially with the Scramble Crossing incident... I wonder if Shoutmon can work us out of this?
"Monsters?" 'Shota' laughed, as if the man had told a really funny joke. "You don't believe that garbage, do you? It's just something that conspiracy theorists conjured up in their minds to try and scare everyone."
"Yeah, exactly," Adrian agreed, relieved that his friend was able to swing it their way. "This spot was just the destination for a terrorist attack a few years ago, who have thankfully been caught. And Scramble Crossing? Gas explosion. No Godzillas coming in and destroying everything, so you have nothing to worry about. I'm Adrian, by the way, and this here is Shota."
"Nice to meet'cha."

Kenny looked a little disheartened as Mohawk (literally) laughed off claims of live monsters, which Blonde agreed with, but frankly, who could blame him? If it weren't for that faithful meeting with Skadi that day, he wouldn't have even known about these creatures. And as much as he wanted to just pull Skadi out right then and there to prove it, he knew he couldn't. Skadi, meanwhile, grew increasingly frustrated at each turn. Only God, Buddha and Arceus knew that she wanted to attest for Kenny, that, no, her friend wasn't some batshit crazy loon rambling about monsters. Something, or someone was nearby.
Skadi whispered quietly inside the device bitterly, quiet enough that, bar any supernatural hearing abilities, only Kenny would hear, "I don't know about you, pal, but I know that my partner is at least trying to save us from dying horrible deaths." Apparently, Arkadimon was still fresh on her mind. "
After both Blonde and Mohawk introduced themselves as Adrian and Shota, respectively, he realized, he forgot to introduce himself properly when he met those 2. Rubbing his hand behind his head, he chuckled a little bit, "Oh, yeah. Where are my manners? My name's Kenneth O'Hara, but you can call me 'Kenny'. Everybody does that, anyways. I moved here from Australia quite a bit ago because of my dad's new job, and I've just been adjusting to my new life here." He was a little more compromised now, but he still let out a bit of unease. Only Skadi knew a Digimon nearby.
Kenny continued, "Anyways, I did hear about the mysterious destruction of the Entertainment District, yes, but nothing about the Scramble Crossing." It was hard to tell, but he was telling the truth about that. He genuinely was not aware of the district's destruction, nor anything about a Scramble Crossing incident, but that was for another day. "But that's besides the point. I mean, yeah, normally, I wouldn't be inquiring about monsters like this, because yeah, it does sound stupid." He shrugged at Adrian and Shota slightly, "But after what happened to me about a few weeks ago, I'm not taking any chances."
He reached down to the bottom of his shirt, but paused quickly? Should he really be showing 2 random strangers what he and Skadi now coined 'the Arkadimon scars'? "Should I?" He whispered quietly, like if he was muttering to himself.
"You should." Skadi reassured him. "It's the only way to prove you're not crazy."
"Yeah I should." Kenny whispered again. He mentally made a note in his head to thank Skadi later.
He lifted up his shirt only a little bit, just enough that both boys could see the scars. "This was when I was attacked at Miyashita Park by a monster a few weeks ago. Yes, it stung quite a bit, but luckily, I managed to knock it out before it could kill me." He really didn't want to downplay Skadi's achievements, how she basically risked life and limb to save him, but it was the only way he knew how.
Inside, Skadi mumbled slightly, before finally adding, "...we'll talk about that later."

Shota perked up his head when Skadi spoke to her partner from the hidden Digivice. Since Shota was secretly a Shoutmon, his hearing abilities were much greater than other humans or Digimon. Still, he could not tell where the source of the sound was coming from all too well. "Huh? Did anyone else hear that?"
"Hear what?" Adrian asked, giving Shota a look of confusion. "I didn't hear anything."
"Could've sworn I heard something... eh, must be my imagination then."
It was then that the kid introduced himself as Kenny, who moved here from Australia. "No wonder that accent sounded familiar. I have a friend who's from Australia as well." Of course he was half-lying; he did have a friend with an Australian accent, but it was Owen the Gaomon... not someone Adrian would talk about with random humans who didn't know what Digimon were.
Kenny proceeded to explain that he had heard what happened in the Entertainment District, but not Scramble Crossing. "It was like a silent terrorist attack. When people woke up on New Years this morning there was a bunch of damage all around the area. And two stories of an entire building were missing." Adrian darted his eyes in Shota's direction as he said that, silently blaming him for the incident once again.
Kenny then mentioned that something happened to him two weeks ago. Adrian and Shota looked at him with curious looks as he lifted up his shirt, revealing many big scars. "Oh my... how did this happen?" Shota asked, feeling a bit sick from the scars since he wasn't used to seeing anything like this. Kenny explained that this was because of a monster attack, and he "managed to knock it out."
Adrian looked at Kenny right in the eyes. "What did this monster look like? And who exactly saved you? Because if you're telling the truth you couldn't have knocked it out yourself."

Kenny looked a little surprised as Shota announced he heard something out loud. Skadi gasped a little herself too. As far as both man and lamb were concerned, they were the only ones who could hear each other. And yet, Shota managed to do so. Luckily, Adrian said he didn't hear anything, making Shota comment that it must have been his imagination. Kenny sighed a little in relief. The last thing he wanted was to expose Skadi to the public, as Akari said. "Yeah, it must be. I can't hear anything myself." He lied.
On mentioning that he knew a similar friend from Australia, Kenny seemed mildly interested in hearing about likeminded people like him."Heh. Wouldn't blame you for that." Surprising that Adrian couldn't catch that accent sooner. He did take that from his late mother. "Honestly, I'd like to meet him sometime, what's he like, anyways?" He asked, a sense of genuine interest in his tone of voice. If anything, it did indirectly tell him that he wasn't the only Australian around here. Skadi could feel her ears perk with general interest as well.
Then Adrian explained what exactly happened at the Scramble Crossing, being how the attack happened, before his eye's darted to Shota, like if he was blaming him for something. Kenny was very surprised to hear that. He came to Japan just earlier this year, and it somehow slipped under the radar. Still, a terrorist attack of any kind was bad enough. Lord knows Australia had it bad enough. "Sorry to hear about that, you two." He rubbed his hand behind as his head as he added. "I just hope to God nobody got hurt." That's all he could say about that. In reality, he would be saddened, but not surprised if at least one person died in the attack. Skadi's ears just dropped upon hearing about the attack. Truth be told, nobody told her about the attack there as well. While she did often hear about going on's in Shibuya before her arrival here, the Scramble Crossing attack was not one of them.
It was at this point, Kenny showed what he now coined 'the Arkadimon scars'. While Bellamy's healing skills were nothing short of phenomenal, even for a Champion level, the scars left still remained. Shota looked sick from looking at those scars, and after Kenny explained about his attack, Adrian looked at him dead in the eyes and inquired him about it, asking who saved him because he doubted that he could've handled it himself.
Welp, the jig was up. Even Adrian knew that Kenny knocking out Arkadimon (or 'the monster') was absolutely bullshit. He must have known what species it was. "Yeah... truth be told, I know you both are probably going to hate me for this, but I haven't been completely honest with you here. You see, I hadn't knocked out it all by myself, I had a little bit of help on my side. Mind following me? It's... well, let's just say it gets a little personal" He said, before gesturing Adrian and Shota to follow him into a quiet alleyway.
Once there, it was time he told the truth about the whole thing, "Well, to answer your question, Adrian, it was this weird giant mantis thing the size of a small child, but it had these giant claws on it's hands that swiped at us like this." He swiped one of his hands down on the air to mime one of the Arkadimon's slashes, "And it nearly killed me too. I would've died if it weren't for my Digimon partner." With that, he pulled the Digivice from his backpack and showed the two. "Yeah, I'm a Digimon tamer. Sorry I had to keep it a secret from you."

Adrian's heart skipped a beat when Kenny asked what the Australian friend was like. He was actually talking about Owen the Gaomon, a Digimon from the Digital World. Thankfully Adrian can just leave all that Digimon stuff out. "He's very brave and adventurous... and he's also very clumsy. First time we met him he slipped right down a hill. Although I haven't seen him for a while, as he's usually out of the country."
"Yeah, he's a pretty cool guy," Shota agreed. "I'd definitely like to have him by my side any day of the week. Maybe one day you'll meet him." He lied about that last part, since this kid didn't seem to have any Digimon with him at all.
Kenny looked distraught when Adrian explained what had "happened" at Scramble Crossing. He apologized and said he hoped that no one got hurt. "Thankfully no one did. They were mostly office buildings that were completely empty at the time of the attack." Wait, but then why would terrorists attack in the first place if it was empty...? Adrian really should have thought that through.
The two of them could not believe the scars on Kenny. No living creature on Earth could have made a scar like that; it had to be a Digimon that was behind it. Which meant Kenny was involved with Digimon. The two were even more convinced by the lame story that Kenny had cooked up, claiming to knock it out. "Nice story, Kenny. Now tell us what actually happened."
Why is everyone we meet somehow a Digimon Tamer? Shota thought as he and Adrian followed Kenny to a quiet alleyway, where no other humans could see them. He then told Adrian that the creature was similar to a mantis, nearly killing Kenny in the process. That's when he revealed that he had a Digimon partner. Adrian and Shota looked at each other after hearing this. They nodded and Shota turned off his holosuit, beginning to morph.
"We haven't been truthful either," Adrian admits. "Welcome to the community of Digimon, Kenny."
"Now that we're properly introducing ourselves, my name's Shoutmon," Shoutmon said in his true form, a red dragon with green headphones. "Who's your Digimon partner?"
Kenny's description of the Digimon left Adrian curious. He pulled out his D-Terminal and searched for Digimon with they key words "mantis" and "claws." A few results popped up, but multiple caught his eye.
All of them Arkadhimon.
Adrian showed the D-Terminal to Kenny. "Do any of these look familiar?"

Adrian and Shota's behaviour concerning the mysterious Australian friend was starting to get a little suspicious. They didn't give him a single name, or even bothered to describe what he looked like. All they said was that he was 'brave', 'adventurous', and 'a pretty cool guy'. Still, that didn't throw o ff Kenny that much. "Heh, he does sound pretty cool. Hopefully, I will meet him someday." He grinned. While Kenny internally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing nobody got hurt or killed, it quickly turned into confusion, wondering why would nobody be at the office buildings at New Years. Then he remembered something, "Oh, yeah, I forgot. People don't usually go to work on New Years, even in Japan. But still, why would terrorists just go and blow up buildings when they're completely empty?" He asked Adrian. He was genuinely relieved that nobody got hurt, but the fact that terrorists were blowing up random buildings just raised more questions than answers. It came to no surprise that Adrian, seemingly at least, didn't exactly believe he could knock out the monster all by himself, if him wanting Kenny to tell the truth was anything to go buy, but to be completely fair, even a dead goldfish would be able to tell that Kenny was lying. Luckily, he successfully managed to get Adrian and Shota to follow him. As they did, Skadi only whispered to Kenny smarmy, "You know, you gotta work on your lying sometime."Adrian had admitted that his side hadn't been telling the truth either and just welcomed him to the so-called 'community of Digimon'. Kenny just smiled and let out his hand to offer to shake Adrian's. "Heh, thanks Adrian. I assume you must be a tamer yourself, then?"Kenny didn't need to wait to get his answer. To Kenny's surprise, Shota started to transform from his ordinary human form. He looked on in confusion and awe as Shota shrank down to the size of a small child, not too dissimilar to the Rookie-level Arkadimon, but unlike Arkadimon, he now resembled a small, red reptilian-come-dragon, with gears that held his body together, and headphones, introducing himself as 'Shoutmon'. Kenny leaned down to Shoutmon's level, hand outstretched once again to shake with him. "Hey, uh, nice to meet you Shouta- I mean Shoutmon. Sorry, I'm still a little used to that." He chuckled to himself. "Kenny, I think he must be the Digimon I've been sensing." Skadi whispered again. Shoutmon would then ask about Kenny's Digimon partner. "Oh, yeah, my partner. Her name's Skadi, and she's a Valaismon. I'll just get her out right now. Shit, what were the buttons again?" He fumbled around with his Digivice before a flurry of pixels shot out of the D-3's antennae, composing Skadi's form in a bright flash of light. As the light died down, her scruffy lamb form stood right next to Kenny, waving happily to Adrian and Shoutmon without even hesitating.
"Hi guys! I'm Skadi, Kenny's friend and Digimon partner! Nice to meet you's two!" She said cheerfully, "I was just sensing that there was a wild Digimon nearby, and I got my partner to warn you so we could help you." She looked at Shoutmon as she said this, Adrian would then pull out his D-Terminal, searching for something up quickly, before showing Kenny his screen and asking him if he reconciled any of them, showing quite a few mantis and clawed Digimon. However, 2 of them caught his eye, and instantly his and Skadi's blood ran cold. These were, or rather, that was, the Digimon that caused... well, lets just say quite the trouble for the duo. Kenny took in a few deep breaths to keep himself calm while Skadi tensed up from all the bad memories. "Uh, yeah. Two of them actually." Kenny admitted to Adrian and Shoutmon, "And they were the same Digimon, to boot." He pointed to the weaker of Arkadimon's 2 known forms he saw that day, the In-Training 'tick' form, in all it's simple yet horrifying glory. "That was the Digimon we encountered at Miyashita Park a while back. While we were having lunch, it tried to attack me and Skadi, but Skadi tried to defend us by trying to fight back, as an In-Training herself, no less. But it just got angry and suddenly digivolved to, well, that!" He then pointed to over to the Rookie 'mantis' form as he said this. "Skadi was far too weak to fight it off at this point, so I opted to try and save her, by grabbing a stick, and trying to knock it out. It didn't work, and it stabbed me in the chest." Skadi just started awkwardly twiddling her thumbs, not knowing what to say, "In response, she digivolved to her own Rookie form and fought back. She made quick work of it, but I let my guard down and got slashed across my sides." Sighing sadly, he added, "And to be honest, if it wasn't for those AEGIS guys, I don't think I wouldn't be here right now."Skadi just raised her hands to speak, to add to the conversation, "I kept promising Kenny I would protect him, but I couldn't." She was starting to tear up a little bit, "And after Arkadimon hurt him again, I was so overcome with grief, I lost control of myself. I killed Arkadimon... and I absorbed it's data fully, just to ensure it wouldn't hurt Cherrymon or my friends at the Village of Beginnings. I don't blame you if you hate me for doing that." And now the waterworks was in full force, as Skadi felt consumed by the guilt by the situation, and what she had to do. Kenny just leaned down, just to hug Skadi to calm her. "Skadi, don't you remember what Colin, Luke, and Bellamy told you earlier? You did the best you could, and we survived, and we'll learn from this, remember?" He stroked Skadi's fur, and her crying slowly devolved back into small sniffles. "Thank you, Kenny... you're the best." She smiled, as she wiped away a tear. Kenny then looked up at Adrian and Shoutmon, "I'm sorry, Skadi can get a little emotional at times when she has to recall, well, shit like this. She, or rather, we, wanted to warn you guys, just to make sure you wouldn't get hurt like we did."

When Adrian and 'Shota' followed Kenny into the alleyway, both parties had exchanged their secret, that they were in fact both Digimon Tamers. Kenny seemed relatively happy to find out that Adrian was like him in a sense, smiling and offering a hand towards Adrian. The goggle-wearing Tamer smiled and accepted the handshake. Even after all the crap he had gone through due to Digimon, it was still nice to find others who shared the same secret.
Shoutmon took note of how confused and surprised Kenny looked when he had deactivated his holosuit. Seeing a human turn into a Digimon is definitely an uncommon thing so he wasn't surprised by Kenny's reaction. Still, he leaned down to Shoutmon's level and greeted him properly this time, almost calling him by his fake human name. "Haha, it's fine. I'm still not used to the whole 'Shota' thing myself, if I'm being honest."
Kenny explained that his partner was Skadi, who was a Valaismon. Neither Adrian nor Shoutmon had heard of that Digimon before so they were excited to see what they looked like. Then Kenny started acting like an idiot trying to figure out what all the buttons on his Digivice did. "That looks very sad. Hand it to me, I can show yo-"
And right then and there a stream of pixels shot out of the Digivice, changing into the form of a small Digimon. It looked a lot like a sheep, in Adrian's opinion. She introduced herself as Skadi, explaining that Shoutmon was in fact the Digimon that she was sensing the whole time. "Huh. Even when being sensed, the holosuit can still help me not be caught. Even better, it might cause other Digimon to think they're hallucinating! I like it a lot more now!"
After Adrian had shown Kenny and Skadi the images on the D-Terminal, they had explained their story. They encountered the first form of Arkadimon at Miyashita Park, where of course Skadi attempted to fight it. But things got bad when the Arkadimon digivolved. It just tossed Skadi away and got a good hit on Kenny. They claimed if AEGIS never showed up then it would've been even worse for them.
"AEGIS, you said? I have some friends that are in AEGIS. Who showed up? Johan? Sophie? Tadayoshi? That one kid's name I don't really know, er... Colin, was it?"
When Skadi spoke up next, Shoutmon understood what she went through. She had promised to protect Kenny and she couldn't. She ended up killing the Arkadimon and absorbing its data. "I understand, Skadi. A few months ago I failed in my mission to protect Adrian as well. In fact, I... ended up kidnapping him. It was a very long story I don't really want to tell right now, if you don't mind."
"Everyone goes through their own set of problems, I guess..."
After many seconds of the area being silent from the depressing mood, Shoutmon's stomach growled and broke the tension. "Oh right, we haven't eaten lunch yet! I'm starving!"

To both Kenny and Skadi themselves, it came as a definite relief that the Digimon in question was a friendly reptilian one incognito with his tamer, rather than something along the lines of a vicious hellhound. And that friendly, willing handshake from both Adrian and Shoutmon (along with a friendly quip about the 'Shota'/Shoutmon thing) practically evaporated all sense of paranoia out of them, as indicated by the relieved smile he had on his face as he shook both.
Admittedly, he did look dumb as he tried to get Skadi out from the Digivice, but then again, could you blame him for being confused on how this thing worked? It's not like this thing came with a proper manual when he got it. He was about to say something to Adrian about how it was fine (which was completely and utterly horseshit, but whatever), but Skadi's emergence and subsequent introduction earnt her a quip for Shoutmon about the 'holosuit'. Wait, so that's what those thing's called? Kenny thought to himself. Note to self: ask Adrian and Shoutmon later about.
Skadi, however, was a little embarrassed herself. For all her attempts to try and warn Adrian and Shota!Shoutmon about a potential Digimon ready to attack them, little did she know, they (or at least the latter) could defend themselves. Still, in cases like this, she was a little happy to admit when she was wrong, "Well, I'm glad you found something that works for you, Shoutmon."
So Adrian knew who AEGIS was, huh? And he knew some of these people? Kenny looked on with intrigue as Adrian told him this, "Yeah, Colin. Skadi told me that she used the D-Terminal to try and find anybody who would help us. And Colin just happened to be the first person to respond to it. To my surprise, he has like two Digimon on him. And apparently, they're twins." He still was a little surprised to know that twin tamers were a thing, "Bellamy used his magic to heal me, and Luke provided quite a bit of emotional support to Skadi."
"Understatement of the freaking millennium." Skadi whispered. Luke's words about the situation and her concerns started to echo in her head, like if he suddenly materialised right next to her out of thin air to remind her. Even if he actually did, she didn't mind. She needed to remember them for her own good.
Luckily for Skadi, Shoutmon wasn't roasting her over the coals alive for perma-deleting a Digimon, even if it was an Arkadimon, but he proceeded to lead into, and hint at his own time he failed to protect Adrian himself. Even if Kenny or Skadi were going to honour Shoutmon's request not to go on further about it (even ready to point out they would), neither could get the words out at first to say anything. Finally, Skadi spoke up, walking over to Shoutmon, to pat his shoulder if he would allow it. "I'm... I'm sorry to hear that, Shoutmon. I..." She could only let out a sad sigh.
The sudden, unannounced growling, courtesy of Shoutmon's stomach (thank God, Buddha and Arceus it was that and not another potentially hostile Digimon), and subsequent comment did elicit some chuckles out of Skadi, and even Kenny couldn't help but smile a little at that. "Heh, yeah, you're right, Shoutmon." Kenny said with a small shrug, "I'm feeling a little peckish myself? You too, Skadi?" He asked his fluffy friend.
"You kidding? I haven't eaten since breakfast." The plucky lamb replied, "I could go for anything at this point. And to be honest, I'm kind of sick of having cucuumber onigiri for lunch almost every day. I just want to try some new human food for once." The onigiri was practically a staple for her at this point, mainly due to the fact that she was a sheep and sheep don't eat meat. But she was also a Digimon, and Digimon didn't usually obey normal laws of nature and why didn't either Skadi or the Digivice come with a manual free of charge when he first got them again?
Kenny only sighed, "Not to worry, I'm sure we'll find someplace nice to eat today. My treat. Wait, that reminds me..." He knew about that proverbial elephant in the room looming over him. "You guys know how we can disguise Skadi so we can have her go out for lunch with us?" He didn't need to ask how to disguise Shoutmon. He was practically set at this point.
"Well, the other day while I was watching TV, I saw this show where this human girl won a plushie at the arcade, and it was pretty large, too. Maybe I could pretend to be a plushie myself?" She suggested. Kenny had to admit that didn't seem a little implausible. As far as he knew, Japan still loved their arcades, and their cute stuff.
"Yeah, you may have something going on there, Skadi," Kenny agreed, "But if you want to actually eat with us, we kind of need a better disguise than that." He turned to Adrian, "You have any good ideas? Or do you want to stick with Skadi's plushie idea?"

Adrian listened as Kenny described who exactly from AEGIS had saved him and Skadi from the Arkadimon attack. He said that it was indeed that Colin kid who had showed up, along with his twin Digimon. He seemed surprised that Colin had two Digimon with him. "Some Tamers are special like that. Two of my human friends are Twin Tamers. One has an Agumon and Gabumon pair, and the other a Veemon and Shoutmon pair."
"And it's not just traditional Tamers who are involved with Digimon," Shoutmon added on. "There are Xros Generals, who lead what is essentially a Digimon army that can fuse together into more powerful Digimon. The most unique Digi-Humans, in my opinion, are the Spirit Users. They can actually turn into Digimon themselves."
It was back to the sad stuff when Shoutmon brought up a little bit of his own sad experiences with being unable to protect Adrian. He didn't blame Skadi for absorbing Arkadimon like that, even though a year ago he would have. He felt Skadi pat his shoulder, saying she was sorry. Shoutmon sighed. "It's fine. The past is the past, right? Besides, Adrian is still here." There was that optimism that the red dragon was known for!
And all that optimism was now replaced with sheer embarrassment as Shoutmon's stomach had growled. His face blushed bright red as he heard Skadi and even Adrian laugh about it. "S-Shut up... I can't help it..." Damn, all his pride and confidence flushed down the toilet due to bodily functions.
Kenny and Skadi had both admitted to being hungry as well, the latter going on about how she wanted to try new food that wasn't just "cucumber onigiri" again. After a minute or so of thought, Adrian came up with an idea. "You haven't been here that long, have you? There's a great restaurant around here that serves amazing Japanese food."
"That sounds so good right now!" Shoutmon cheered, his tongue sticking out with a bit of drool. "I'm gonna eat until I pass out!"
"Another thing you should know, Kenny: most Digimon are just walking stomachs," Adrian joked. Kenny then asked Adrian and Shoutmon how they were going to disguise Skadi. "Well what disguised Shoutmon was something called a 'holo-suit', but you can only buy it in the Terminus Mall in the Digital World."
Skadi had brought up an idea to just act like one of those giant stuffed animals that people would win in arcades all the time. Five months ago Adrian and Shoutmon would have agreed with this idea, since people could be fooled like that. However, DATS was back, and they had to be more careful.
"Not a good idea Skad," Shoutmon bluntly told her, "A group called DATS is back, and they know what Digimon look like. Agents could be anywhere, and if they see you they will find a way to send you back to the Digital World, away from Kenny."

As if Digimon couldn't get any weirder than it already was, Adrian told Kenny that he had friends with twin Digimon ('Twin Tamers', as he called them), and their own set of Digimon, with Shoutmon piping in about Xros Generals and Spirit Users, notable for having the ability to actually transform into Digimon. Skadi didn't seem as surprised, like if Adrian and Shoutmon were just commenting on the weather, but Kenny was practically lost the second the latter mentioned Spirit Users. Scratching his head, he asked "Wait, slow down. Did you really just say people can transform into Digimon?"
"Yep!" Skadi interjected herself, "They do that with the use of spirit totems and special Digivices called D-Tectors. By using these totems, these people can spirit evolve into Digimon, and sometimes even combine their spirits to become even more powerful Digimon."
Now Kenny was just a little bit more lost, "Okaaaaay... now we're just throwing people transforming into Digimon into the mix now. Sheesh, the more I learn about the Digital World, I swear, the more I get lost trying to comprehend all this."
Concerning the sad stuff, Shoutmon tried to lighten the mood himself, by informing her the past was in the past and Adrian was here. Skadi simply nodded happily, reminding herself mentally that even after what happened, Kenny was OK. But Kenny felt a little pang of jealously inside of him. He himself had issues letting go of the past, but he felt it wasn't the time to interject.
Still, that out of nowhere tummy rumble courtesy of Shoutmon and his subsequent protest made it hard to restrain her chuckles, threatening to mutate into full on laughter, and even Kenny was stifling a giggle or two. It just felt good that something had to come in and lighten up the depressing mood, "I'm sorry," Skadi said between badly stifled giggles, "It's just..." She couldn't finish that before it devolved into uncontrollable giggling, lasting about a few more seconds before calming down.
Adrian had suggested about going to a Japanese restaurant he knew of, of which Shoutmon cheered and cried about eating til he passed out. Kenny chuckled again, as he said, "I hope not. You don't want to get sick now, right?" He just hoped Shoutmon was just joking. Shoutmon was joking, right? Adrian then added that most Digimon were just walking stomachs. Another understatement.
"You're telling me." Kenny joked himself, "The other night when I was playing Smash Ultimate with Skadi, she went up to get a snack for herself. And by that, I mean she proceeded to raid the fridge for all the sweets she could." Cue Skadi playfully ribbing Kenny constantly to get him to shut up, "Luckily, ow, I managed to, ow, pull her away before, ow, she could, Skadi quit it ow, bleed it dry, ow!!" He rubbed his side, which was only now aching slightly from the constant ribs.
"I thought we agreed we weren't going to speak of that again." Skadi whispered.
"I'm sorry, but you know Adrian had a point there." Kenny pointed out, "I didn't think you Digimon'd be that gluttonous." For being what boiled down to a walking, talking lamb that could summon pillars and send shockwaves with a single ear-splitting bleat, she had quite the sweet tooth herself. A large sweet tooth.
Adrian had also told Kenny that Shoutmon's human disguise was a 'holo-suit', and he could only buy it the Digital World's Terminus Mall. The mere mention that the Digital World had a mall made the place sound a lot more civilised, especially with walking talking monsters, "Terminus Mall, huh? Well, maybe when I go to the Digital World soon, I'll probably give it a look."
Upon hearing Skadi's plushie suggestion, Shoutmon immediately shot it down, telling her that DATS were around, and if she was caught, she'd be sent back to the Digital World, and away from Kenny. Oh right. Shit. They forgot about that. Skadi sighed sadly upon hearing that. Ever since her arrival in the real world, Kenny had become not only her Tamer and herself his Digimon partner, she also became a great friend and quite possibly the weirdest roommate imaginable, and for either to lose each other had slowly became one of their greatest fears. She slowly bowed her head sadly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Shoutmon. I guess I tried a little too hard to forget about that." She admitted. She wanted to forget it. She wanted nothing more than DATS to be nothing more than a bad dream, like an imaginary boogeyman who could only frighten her, and nothing more. "I just wanted to hang out with you guys today, y'know, as myself?"
Kenny just looked at Adrian again, "Say, Adrian, you have any idea how we could disguise Skadi? Like, the other night, she found this pink hoodie on the ground, and used it to cover herself up. I could buy a cheap one for her, if we can." He suggested. He was planning to make a trip to the Digital World when he had the time, so he had to keep the holo-suit idea in mind.

When Kenny commented on how more information on Digimon and the Digital World confused him, Adrian and Shoutmon looked at each other and laughed. "Oh Ken, you're gonna have a rough time figuring out how the rest of the Digital World works. Hell, not even most of the Digimon know a lot about it all."
"It's true, you know!"
"Kind of like how we still don't know a lot about how Earth works yet, you know? Sometimes you just gotta accept it and move on. Otherwise you'll sit there and just give yourself a headache."
Now was still the time to move on to more pressing issues: lunch. Shoutmon was still very embarrassed by his bodily noises, and Kenny and Skadi's laughter was not helping at all. Seeing the bright red blush on Shoutmon's red metallic cheeks even made Adrian start to laugh as well. "You know, I'm not the only one who gets tummy rumbles here and there! Besides breakfast wasn't even that filling today for me anyways."
And no, Shoutmon was not joking about eating that much. He really did mean it. Apparently Skadi had a similar appetite as well, if Kenny's story was legitimate. Which apparently it was, given that as he told it Skadi kept trying to bite Kenny. Adrian sighed; he knew that scenario all too well. "That is quite bad. One time Shoutmon managed to eat fifteen fullsized cheeseburgers within three minutes. Who knows how farther it would've gone if I had bought more. Digimon truly are gluttons when they have access to food like we humans do."
Kenny had suggested a plan to have Skadi and Shoutmon act like plushies from an arcade as they went to get their food but Shoutmon promptly reminded them of DATS and shut them down. Kenny asked how they could disguise Skadi, suggesting a pink hoodie that he had found. "Shoutmon had one of those, but why do you think I opted for the holosuit? DATS isn't stupid, they can see through shit like that. But how about this: Shoutmon and Skadi hide in their V-Pets for now, and we can get takeout? Take it to a safe area?"
