Red Skies & Various Cries [Dio & Bero]

Dio's gambit had somehow paid off, and he had succesfully avoided being quite literally roasted alive. And the cherry on top was succesfully restraining Bero, however momentary that solution was.
"Tch, all this pointless banter." Dio said, more annoyed than anything at this point. Bero was certainly a chatty fighter, wasn't he? That was starting to be...irksome, to put it mildly, Dio really disliked people with a bigger mouth and ego than him. "You're wasting your breath, mongrel-" His comeback was rudely and suddenly interrupted as something pulled from his leg, making him lose balance and sending him to the ground with a grunt. It would seem his chain had not completely constrained Bero down, as two of his cloak arms had managed to slip from their icy restraints and were now rapidly dragging Dio to the BlackGabumon.
If there was anything positive he had to say for Bero, it was this much: he was as resourceful as he was unpredictable. Unfortunately for him, Bero was planning on doing more than just throw the helpless imp around, as once he was close enough to him he'd give him a vicious headbutt right on the imp's back.
Dio snarled in pain, the blackgabumon's horn almost piercing the skin on his back. He fell to the ground on his side, one hand grasping at the recently injured back. His breathing was getting heavier and heavier by the minute, and his body was starting to ache from all the throwing and dragging it had been subjected to, the slowly accumulating pain plainly visible on his expression.
"You're...really starting to get on my nerves..." He'd snarl, his furious tone barely concealing the pain underneath it.
Somehow this one attack hurt far more than any of Bero's previous tricks, perhaps because it was far more direct and brutal of an attack, or maybe simply because Dio could feel himself starting to reach his limit. One or two more hits like that and he'd hardly be able to stand, much less keep fighting. He had to finish this fight now, else he'd be loaded and that would be the end.
The one silver lining was that Dio was slowly but surely he was learning from Bero's tricks, perhaps not enough to fully predict what he would do now, but he certainly knew what he was capable off. And if there was anything he could be certain off it's that (unless he somehow had more tricks up his proverbial sleeve) he had a bigger edge in close quarters, and while that cloak of his gave him some respectable range he could probably keep as far away as he could so that they would be a bit easier to dodge.
As such as soon as he got back up on his feet he'd jump away from his rival, not quite enough to be completely out of the reach of his cloak, but just enough so he would see it coming this time, his plan hinged on this. Of course as he backed away his palms would light up as per usual, the imp once again sending a dark blast of pure energy right at the BlackGabumon!
Dio is dragged by Bero's Superior Technique and headbutted on the back (decided using random.org thanks Frits :v), taking damage. He then backs away while aiming another Primordial Burst at Bero.
Primordial Burst: Combines both fire and ice magic to launch a sphere of dark energy from his hands. It’s considerably stronger than his other attacks, and as such takes more energy to perform. Two post cooldown.
Cooldown:

Bero watched as the Impmon was slung towards him, turned around at random due to the weird nature his two cloak claws had grabbed him by. Using two left hands was never the most convenient way to operate things, when it was metaphorical, or literal! Bero’s headbutt would nonetheless slam against the Impmon’s sprawled back, and bero would recognize it’s a good hit! As he had taken the Impmon closer to himself, the chains had loosened up slightly. The frost was vanishing, usually it’d do so slowly, but this Frost vanished rather quickly from the blue fire’s that Bero’s cloak could manifest without much hindrance or stamina drain. Freedom was close, and then the real fight would resume. Or so Bero thought. A real fight was constant, even with you being stuck for a moment and having attempted to leave your opponent reeling, a good opponent would recover and be starting his next move. And indeed, this Impmon counted as good opponent, apparently. Bero would have to prepare for this dodge to the best of his ability. Fortunately for him, the ice couldn’t be melted quicker than he did, thanks to the constant fire he applied to himself. Using his lower two claws to push against the ground, he found himself launched off to the left, the claws staying on the ground for a second. Dio could see as the primordial blast hit Bero’s lower claws, that the blue fire would vanish off of them. Bero’s feet also scraped on the primordial blasts’ range! Landing on his new position hurt his feet. Well, he wished it was just his feet which hurt, but it was everything which hurt. The two claws which had been damaged by primordial blast snapped back into position as if they had lost their elasticity, and hung limply from him as they were not ignited by blue fire. Bero stood almost stiffly on his new location, the pain clearly wearing on him as well, but that didn’t stop him from pointing at his opponent and raising one of his upper two claws, which were still fine. A streak of fire leapt out as Bero launched a Little Blue Hunter straight to Dio! Bero knew he was going to be a little slower, and not able to respond properly. He had to play it safe, but one more feint, and he’d be able to force an advantage. He let himself fall onto one of his legs, as if he hurt a leg too much to walk on them… which, in essence, was half true. His feet did hurt, but not so much he couldn’t use them for action. He needed Dio to just abuse this one lapse in strength Bero pretended to have, and he could turn the final bit of this battle. Bero dodged to the left, taking minor damage from Primordial burst. This also makes his lower two claws useless for a post as their hit by sheer damage. Bero fires a Little Blue Hunter towards Dio! Bero falls to a leg, pretending to have his defences down and being unable to leap away (actually that latter point is true lol)Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 7 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness. Bero starts each combat with 5 stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ and every round he is in combat he gains 2 more stacks. He can hold a maximum of 15 stacks. Using 5 stacks allows him to empower one basic attack to deal damage equal to a named attack with a 1-turn cooldown. This attack counts as Bero’s named attack (or one of his named attacks, incase he’s 1 vs twins) for the post it is used. Other passives may give him more stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ or methods to use it.
Flame Coat Combat Passive - Naturally capable of lighting his entire coat aflame, Bero makes sure to always fight with this fire backing him up. As long as this passive is in effect, Bero’s coat is covered in hot blue flames, and he can control the claws on his coat freely as if they were two extra sets of limbs. He can stretch out these limbs like rubber, using them to increase the reach of his basic attacks, and allow him to interact with objects or digimon from a distance. The elastic nature of his cloak allows him to attack up to 5 meters away, or about 5x the expected distance the limbs could reach. These limbs are strong enough for him to pull himself up by them or push himself off the ground using them. Due to being constantly aflame, they increase the damage of his basic attacks using these arms by 10%. While the hot flames of his coat are dangerous, they do not actually deal significant damage when merely touched. Active moves: Little blue Hunter(RAM upgrade) Attack - Initiating this attack, Bero charges a powerful blue flame in the tip of one of his cloak claws. Bero jabs his arm forward to point towards the enemy, and his cloak claw follows the gesture. A trail of blue fire erupts from the tip of his claw and heads towards his target. This blue fire can turn slightly to home in on it’s target as it travels up to 30 meters. This attack requires 2 dodges to avoid. If Bero uses this attack against an enemy within 2 meters, the fire trail stops after passing by them and returns to hit them again in the back. The attack does minor damage with each hit and has 1 post cooldown. Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: 3/5 posts cooldown passed Azure Zenith: Available now! Burning Brand: Available now! Petit Arena: 3/6 posts cooldown passed. Little Blue Hunter: Used this turn. 0/1 posts cooldown passed.

Dio wanted to be happy that his attack had landed. He wanted to cheer and laugh in the face of Bero as he saw two of his cloak's arms go motionless from the damage inflicted. He wanted to take pride in finally whipe the smile of that supposed murderer's face...but he couldn't. He was just too pained and tired to even think of doing such things right now. To make matters worse, Bero was just as stubborn as he was and just refused to go down without giving his all first, as the blue trail of fire thrown at Dio showed.
With great effort the imp would dodge (or rather trip) to the side, the flaming projectile barely grazing his shoulder, but still mostly missing him. He was almost ready to let a sigh of relief...though it never ocurred to Dio that said blast would come back the way it came, veering slightly to the right so it would hit Dio right in the middle of his (already aching) back, burning pain coursing through him as the blast made him fall on one of his legs.
With a hateful snarl he'd glare up at Bero's general direction...only to perk up upon noticing his foe was in a similar position to him, almost literally down on his last leg- This was it, the time to end things. Struggling back to his feet the impmon brought forth all of his willpower to power through the pain and rush once more at the Gabumon, his fist barely glowing like a slowly fading ember.
There were no witty comebacks. No annoyed remarks. Not even an evil chuckle. Just a pure, completely furious yell of rage as he lunged forward one last time, all his hatred and strenght going into this one attack, all or nothing. Of course, as he plunged his fist down on the ground in front of Bero there was a moment of hesitation where Dio wondered if this was all just another trick. Well if it was, it was too late to turn back now.
A moment later another fire pillar would erupt right under Bero's position, not as tall or hot as the one before, but still should be enough to finish the job. If this didn't work however, then Dio'd certainly be done for...
Dio dodges the first attack from Little Blue Hunter, but it's hit by the rebound and takes damage from it. He then uses his remaining strenght to attack Bero with Pillar of Fire.
Pillar of Fire: Punches the ground and either surrounds himself in a fiery pillar or creates a small wall of fire. Said fire can last up to one post. Two posts cool down.
Cooldowns:

Words were no more use. It was now just two digimon showing their final gambits and skills to win the combat. And a sly gambit, Bero always had. Bero smiled as the Impmon took a good brunt of painful fire from Little blue hunter’s effects. He had rendered the impmon hurt and by the second, combat would be harder for the Impmon to do. The accuracy of little blue hunter never betrayed Bero, and never failed to give Bero his smile. Would it fail now that he was so pained? No, Bero’s smile slowly returned on his face as the Impmon was clearly hurt.
But the fight wasn’t over, no, he knew this. Otherwise he wouldn’t have used this final gambit. ‘Wounded’, Bero’s grin faded as he gave the Impmon a struggled look, who seemed to have his energy revived, a strong force welling up inside of him. Bero knew this force of motivation well, and that’s why he was so ready to abuse it and trick the Impmon into gaining motivation at the worst time possible.
The Impmon showed rage, letting out a primal yell that would most certainly grab the attention of the entire training grounds around them, Fire gathering subtly within Dio’s fist as he launched himself forward. Bero grinned when the Impmon had jumped and it had been too late to go back. He stood up despite the pain, and blue fire gathered around his entire cloak, focusing towards his horn and spiralling into a small orb at the tip of his horn.
It all happened so quickly, Dio’s fist came to the ground right before Bero, but before the red fire even fully erupted from Dio’s chosen location, Bero’s blue orb of fire from Azure Zenith spread from his horn, the circular spinning fire rushing over Dio and pushing him with a forceful heat! However, small cinders of red and orange from Dio’s pillar remained around the spinning blue orb, and when the orb collapsed, the red sparks suddenly gathered to a blazing pillar of fire! Bero was blown back by the sudden eruption and revival of the pillar of fire even after the power of Azure Zenith had tried to repress it, the red fire rushing over bero’s front side.
Bero flew back a short distance and hit the ground, a spiralling tower of red fire with blue sparks, embers and streaks still spinning around it. The fires both started fading at the same time, vanishing in a collection of different coloured embers. Bero could only look for a second before he fell back and stared up at the sky.
Bero attempted to block Pillar of Fire using Azure Zenith, blocking the initial damage but taking damage from the following pillar that formed afterwards! Bero is defeated!

At this point of their fight Dio cared little about honor, or even "justice". All he cared for was taking down this dirty, murdering bastard of a blackgabumon. And seeing his opportunity to off him while he was on his last legs and on a moment of weakness only made it all the sweeter.
It was only when he saw the small embers of blue fire spiraling around Bero's horn that Dio realized he had gotten too cocky this time, underestimating his foe yet again...for the last time. Just as his fist landed on the floor and the accumulated energy began converging on the earth below the small imp was reached by the spiraling blue flames, the hot combustion of pure malignant energy landing with terrible power on his chest.
The combined inertia of Bero's attack and his own leap were enough to send the imp back a couple feet, his body crashing against the ground with a loud thud, small trails of smoke and blue embers floating away from his chest. Dio just...stood there, belly side up on the round, still too pained and tired to even move, he could only look up at the red tinted sky, waiting for his adversary to come and deal the finishing blow.
But surprisingly enough after a solid minute of waiting that never came. With great difficulty he would sit back up again...for all of two seconds, before he fell back down, heaving in exhaustion and pain. During those two short seconds however he was able to see Bero was laying in a very similar way.
"So...I might have misjudged you slightly...I'll admit it, you're a crafty little prick." Be said, before letting out a sarcastic (if somewhat pained) chuckle. "But you still won't get the satisfaction of loading me as well."
At least as long as else took care of Bero now that he was down for the count, of course.
Dio is damaged by Bero's Azure Zenith and is pushed back. Dio was (also) defeated!

Bero expected to get a huge rant on justice and whatnot. That’s kind of what the Impmon had been preaching at first, and there was no real reason the Impmon wouldn’t continue. He had been defeated and such, he could expect the Impmon to give him a rant on how he’d been treating others wrong. Bero stared up at the sky as the red slowly faded to a darker purple. The sun had almost completely set in the time they had fought and were now laying on the ground. The viral sun effect remained somewhat however, resulting in the two feeling like they were taking a refreshing nap in the sun… only, like, wounded and in pain.
“Loading… you as well? Did you safeguard your own libraries and forget the encryption, you filthy justice abiding idiot… I never loaded any Digimon. This power is all my own skill.” He said, pained himself, much less chuckling and thrilled than Dio was. He was still trying to get Dio’s angle in all this, a hard endeavour since even laying down hurt so much, let’s not consider how much thinking must hurt.
Bero managed the same as Dio, after him though, a quick look at the situation before hitting the ground again. It looks like they had both knocked another out of fighting condition, although both had remained conscious. An impressive feat. Normally Bero wasn’t used to going down without going out completely, but he supposed there was a rare occasion for anything, and this processor-lacking Impmon was sadly the exception of an enemy.

The imp stared at the slowly darkening sky, sighing. Its peaceful and muted colors were a pretty odd contrast to the agressive red that had been bathing the area not too long ago, and as the cold evening wind began blowing away the heat, Dio too slowly seemed to be calming down from his battle fueled adrenaline and rage...for all of ten seconds, until he heard the black gabumon speak again. He froze for a moment, blinking with a blank expression, before turning his head slightly to look at Bero with an incredulous expression. Was...was he hearing things right?
Bero said he hadn't loaded any digimon. Clearly that could only be a ruse to appear innocent and play the victim...except Dio only felt bitter sincerity behind the digimon's words, but still Dio didn't want to believe it. He refused to believe it! Otherwise that would have made their fight, their pain, this entire ordeal completely and entirely pointless! But...then again he never really stopped to ask those other digimons what actually went down, did he?
"...then why the hell did I just risk my hide fighting you?!" He spat, finally mustering up the strenght to at least sit back up, though he winced visibly as he did, a sore pain coursing through his back as he did so.
Knowing he had fought so hard over basically nothing honestly hurt him almost as much as any of the injuries sustained during the fight. Really this night could not get any worse even if Bero tried to throw him again.
"I'd say I'm sorry but we're kinda way past that point already..." He sighed, making his neck crack loudly as he looked at the gabumon.

There was a moment of silence as he spoke about risking his hide. Bero already knew the answer, but he didn’t want to waste his breath too much while breathing hurt. He took a second before talking. “Because your motherboard is filled with spaghetti, you digidumbass.”
He held back no venom at all in speaking to the Impmon. Knowing his life, the Impmon wouldn’t regret his decisions soon enough. The BlackGabumon let his body rest a little more before continuing. “Yeah, you don’t have to apologize for how you were made. Not all code can be written properly. We need the dumb to realize how smart the smart are.”
With the proverbial middle finger towards the Impmon established, Bero let out an annoyed grunt. He still wasn’t the strongest amongst even rookies. At this rate, getting to champion would be more of a hindrance than an aid, as he wouldn’t fight other champions with ease. He had learned some things from the Impmon which he was sure to utilise some other time. Luckily for him, he had more limbs than the Impmon. Even while tired, a thin ridge of fire formed around his black cloak. Onlooking in-training and rookie Digimon took a step back. They didn’t want to believe Bero still had fight left in him.
He didn’t. But they saw fire, and weren’t the smartest either. A mix of Bero’s 6 arms, 4 from the cloak, and two of his scaly body, had him standing up with more ease than the Impmon. He winced and preferred to use his strength to start moving away though, but he was slow enough the idiotic imp of justice could still yell after him, regrettably.

Any amount of sympathy or regret Dio might have felt for the Gabumon was dashed away as soon as he opened his mouth again, having the same amount of poison in his words as he did while they were fighting a moment ago. Were his body feeling anything other than pain, he would have probably flipped him off there and then.
On the plus side it meant he could drop any pretence of civility and let his anger loose, but unfortunately he was a bit too exhausted mentally and physically to manage even that.
Not that he didn't try, though.
"Oh in that case then you can just shove your so called "smart" remarks where the sun don't shine, you fleabitten imbecile." He snarled, glaring at Bero as he began limping away. Dio attempted to get up to do the same, but as soon as he shifted his weight onto his leg he found himself falling and tripping, his battered frame laying on the floor once again. He let out a resigned sigh, accepting he was probably going to spend the night recovering on this spot provided nobody tried to move him.
"That's right, you run away...and if I see you again I won't be as merciful!" He yelled one last time, if only just to have the satisfaction(?) of having the last word. After that though?
He'd simply let his eyelids close, letting the pain wash away as consciousness slowly abandoned him. He'd have to think of a clever excuse to explain to Carlos how he had gotten this badly beaten up again, but that was a concern for the Dio of the next day. For now he could at least sleep with the dubious satisfaction of knowing that at the very least he could still manage on his own without the aid of his partnered human.
That, and he would also never let Carlos know a digimon one head smaller than him had given him this bad of a beating. Or that he had been thrown around like a ragdoll. He still had some pride left intact. [Exit]
