For the most part, Paledramon was content to sit back and listen to what the others said. In fact, judging by the gleam in his eye when Cassie spoke, he was at the very least considering her offer. That gleam left his eyes as soon as Zachary spoke up. Paledramon's posture tensed up, and he took a shaky step towards the tamer. "Do ye think I'm content?" he hissed, voice as tense as a broken spring. "Do ye know the things I've risked? Do ye know the family I've lost? Do ye know how much I've seen?" Anguish bled into his voice as it raised, each footstep shakier than the last.
"I haven't slept in years. I've turned away Digimon who could kill me in an instant. I've had to delete my own grandfather, because I knew whatever woke up wouldn't be him," he shouted. His eyes trembled, a combination of a refusal to shut them and a refusal to let any tears escape. "And after everything I had to sacrifice, ye dare- dare!- to say I'm content?" His wings flared out to their full length, icy mist gathering between the icicles that formed them, and his claws tensed up as if trying to cling onto something ephemeral.
He averted his eyes for a precious second, then set them back onto Zachary. "Get off of this mountain," he hissed. "Part so I don't have to hear your voice again. And part so I don't have to be the one to bury your corpse."
His piece said, Paledramon took a deep, shaking breath. His claws clenched and unclenched, and after a few grips Paledramon turned to the remainder of the party. "I'll give ye this one chance to explain yerselves," he said, the anger in his voice giving way to a dejected tone. "Share yer ideas. Call yer benefactors, if ye must. I'll hear them out. But if they're as strong as ye say, we can never let them fall under the Beast's sway."
Combat Log Inclement Conditions - I'm running out of witty ways to mention that this hasn't been a problem. Can one of you guys do something stupid and catch frostbite already? A Cold Wind Blows - The winds aren't picking up on their usual schedule. Thank goodness for weather magic! Aura of Malaise - Unfortunately, Belphemon's mental impulses are picking up on their own usual schedule! At this point they seem to be at their strongest: no further movement short of leaving this mountaintop will strengthen or diminish them.

Cassie, initially, was optimistic about this. The Paledramon didn't seem all that bad; he was just old and tired, yeah? He just seemed like someone who needed a friend, someone to keep him company and cheer him up a little, even if it's only for long enough to give him a breath of fresh air! She was more than ready to offer to tend to his wounds and give him a little energy boost, to make friends, to do everything in her power to help him be happy while they were here!
But, then Zachary would rant at the Paledramon... And the Paledramon would, in response, quickly grow enraged; appearing to be deeply offended by the tamer's words. This spark in anger would startle Cassie - squeaking softly "E-eep!" in surprise as the dragon's wings flared out, claws bared and tensed - prompting her to stumble (Could a seal even stumble? It certainly seemed like she would make a good example of such, with how she seemed to nearly trip over her own flippers in the process.) away from the Paledramon and back to Ophelia's side, the Spadamon crouching down to wrap an arm around her sister protectively. It seemed that Ophelia was prepared to protect Cassie if they did end up coming to blows as a result of this, even against the old and aged Paledramon...
... though as the dragon said his piece, and would slowly calm, the tension in the air would lift; if only a little bit. It was still enough though, for Cassie to take a few steps forward in his direction, wanting to offer comfort... Though she'd pause halfway, watching him, trying to gauge whether he'd be okay with her coming closer. If he was, she would be more than happy to return to the Paledramon's side, and try to hug him. But if he didn't seem keen on letting her close, she would remain where she stood now.
Either way, the Gomamon-X would take a second to think over her words, to try and sort between her own thoughts and the thoughts brought on by the aura about then, before speaking up first, out of the two sisters. "I... I'm sorry about our friend - I'm sure he didn't mean it in that way..." She'd murmur to the Paledramon, trying to cover for Zachary. "I think we're all just... on edge, stressed, and overall concerned for you about this depressive aura that Belphemon's giving off; especially given how long you've been here for, on your own, and how resigned some of the things you've said sound..." Frowning gently, she'd look up to the dragon - adding "It all probably came off as being rather insensitive, though - with everything you've been through - and even if it wasn't anyone's intention to put it like that, our own issues doesn't make this any less not-okay... So again, I'm really sorry about this... I still want to try to help you and be your friend in some way though; even if it's only a little bit, if it's at all possible...!"
Ophelia would exhale a little - stepping up to Cassie to ruffle the fur on her head, before glancing up to Paledramon and speaking next. "Only issue is that this fuckery that Belphemon is doing also messes with my D-Nexus; I can't really hear shit from them when it's full blown like this..." She'd mutter, scratching the back of her head as she tried to think out solutions past the haze from the malaise in the air. "... I'll try to see if I can't figure something out now, but... Otherwise, if we want to get you and our buds talking, we'd need to go down the mountain a little bit until the influence lets up enough, either having you come with us so that you can talk to them - albeit that means you'd need to see Zachary's mug for a little while longer, as much as you don't seem keen on that - or we can try to call them in ourselves and see if they can't have someone come up here to talk to you directly. You alright with either alternative, assuming the others don't have any better ideas?"
Either way, as she'd talk and ask the Paledramon, she'd bring out her D-Nexus once more, and mess with it - seeing if she couldn't get some sort of signal to the angels for them to bring someone in, or find some way to clear up the influence for even a little. Maybe if she just focused hard enough, (as harebrained of an idea that might be, though she wasn't sure if that was actually her thoughts calling it harebrained or not) then maybe she could figure out a way to get a proper connection going? Technology was confusing as fuck, is all she could say - and she didn't even need to aura to come to that conclusion... Gently thumping the side of the D-Nexus with the heel of her palm, she'd try to reach out to the angels. "Hey, any of you guys hear me? Iunno if I'm going to hear shit from any of you - or if any of you guys hear shit from me - but there's a Paledramon up here standing guard, who I think would like to talk to one of you guys if y'all think you can figure something out." She figured that even if the angels couldn't hear them, or give a proper response, that it was worth giving it a shot before they went to other ideas.

Arthur grimaced as Zachary began his spiel towards the Paledramon. He could feel the rage boiling up beneath the large Digimon's surface and he took a step away as the Paledramon stepped forward, giving him plenty of space to explode at Zachary. He watched the Digimon as he released what seemed like years and years of pent up aggression and frustration, wondering if maybe letting it out wasn't such a bad thing. From what Paledramon was saying, there was much sadness and stress tied to his position. Arthur felt sympathy for the mountain's guardian and an idea stewed in his head while Cassie and Ophelia presented their idea for how they could get back into contact with the angel Digimon down below.
"I think you should go with them, too," Arthur piped up, stepping forward again. "We want to help you in keeping this guy under control and keep the Digital World safe. You're the only one who could fully explain how dire the situation is to the Angels. Then, get yourself some rest. Zachary and I can stay up here and stand guard for a little while before the angels get here and take over."
A bold suggestion, yes, but maybe it Paledramon would take him up on it. Plus, he felt that Zachary and Paledramon should spend a good few hours apart. Mostly to spare Zachary from being torn to shreds if he ever said the wrong thing, but Arthur felt that three people staying behind would be better than one. They could keep each other accountable and, more importantly, awake.

(Not bothering with coding to be fast here)
The reaction from Paledramon was not what Zachary hoped for. The only fire he lit under his tail was one of anger and rage. It was enough to snap Zachary out of his own frustration-- and realize the error of his word choice and approach. "Okay... so the tough-love method is not the way to go..." he commented as he backed away.
Bagheeramon however growled at Paledramon's verbal lash, prepared to fight if things got bad--
-- Luckily, Arthur Ophelia and her sister were quick to try and calm him down. It was true, Zachary was at wits end as were they all and tensions had gotten a bit high. Realizing both their errors, Bagheeramon included, he stopped his growling and Zachary choose to just say nothing, trying to calm his own temper down and not fuel Paledramon's further. The idea for calling for help probably was the smart idea. What Zachary didn't like was how his words caused him to exclude him from the group.
Still pissed off at Paledramon's lack of taking action even with the tragedy that befell him, Zachary folded his arms to keep warm and turned away from them. "Fine, fine... I'll do it. I'll stand by for now." he grumbled.
Zachary and Aurthur would be able to nuzzle close to Bagheeramon's fur. The electric tiger would provide more than enough heat for them if they stuck close to the large cat.

"I made a vow to never leave this peak. May me body break before me vow does," Paledramon said, turning to Arthur. He clutched his claw tightly to his chest, dipping his head down and squeezing his eyes shut. "Someday, me data will be scattered to the northern winds. I know it be inevitable. And I ain't like me pappy, or those before me. I've got no love, no child, no successor of any kind. And ye know what? I like it that way. The idea of leaving anyone tied to this burden . . .
At least when I die, it'll be with a clear conscience."
The Paledramon opened his eyes, weakly smiling at Cassie. "Don't worry about me, lass. Worry about the Digital World, just like yer friends," he said. As much as he tried to sound reassuring, he sounded even more fatigued than he did when the group first arrived. How much had this Paledramon been through before the others' arrival, if he already sounded so haggard? "I may not want ye to bear my burden. And I may not trust ye to handle my role. But yer good kids. Maybe in a few years, ye'll do some good for this place."
The stubborn old mon was not budging from his spot on the mountain. Perhaps some divine intervention would change. Ophelia's D-Nexus sparked to life, static overwhelming the screen but slowly fading away. Unfortunately, Ophelia wouldn't like what she saw: mission control was currently floored, Bagramon gracelessly flung into the corner and Rasielmon slumped right in the center of the image. The Inner Sanctum itself looked scarred by darkness and light, but the worst of it seemed to be over. Three victors stood: Adrian and his RedMagnamon, Katsura and her Mervamon, and a ZenCherubimon some may recognize as Toki. Meditating under their tense glares was a Mephistomon X, who seemed rather nonchalant for someone surrounded on all sides. The atmosphere was tense, but with a note of finality to it: whatever fight had transpired here had ended.
Paledramon looked in shock, jaw dropped a little. ". . . Perhaps this situation's a wee bit bigger than I expected," he muttered, looking towards the mountain behind him and nervously flexing his wings.

Ophelia would frown quietly at the Paledramon - a little troubled. So getting him to follow them down the mountain was very unlikely, given his vow that he made - their best bet would be to go down the mountain themselves, and call the angels in. That wasn't what necessarily troubled Ophelia, though; to bring the angels up here themselves was one of her initial plans after all, and she didn't expect the Paledramon to want to leave this place that he had vowed to protect all that easily.
Instead... What troubled the little Spadamon, was more how the Paledramon was speaking to them. The tone of his voice, the words he used - though he wasn't aggressive at all anymore, it was plain to see - at least for Cassie and Ophelia both - that the Paledramon seemed to be growing fatigued and haggard. If this digimon was going to be sticking to his vow to the end, then the duo had a slight feeling that his hypothetical end was probably going to be drawing close - if not today, then at least someday soon. And, well... What that end might entail, neither of the two had good feelings about, if people who lose their spirit here ended up Belphemon's.
But the troubling things didn't stop there, either. Initially, the D-Nexus only returned static; which, of course, was what Ophelia had expected. It didn't work then, why would it work now? Sighing, the Spadamon would've gone to put the D-Nexus away, but...
... a stutter in the previously constant hum of static would draw her attention.
Ophelia would glance down at the device, noticing how the static was starting to fade and die down. She could finally see, and hear, what was going on - yet... The sight wasn't a comforting one. The two angels that they had spoken to before - Rasielmon and Bagramon - were both unconscious in the sanctum, and unfamiliar figures stood in their place. Two tamers and their digimon, and an additional singular digimon - a spirit user not, that she knew that - stood on one side. On the other side, was a Mephistomon-X that was in quiet meditation, and contemplation. Both sides appeared to be at a standstill, for the time being - yet it painted a picture that wasn't very pretty; neither to the sisters, nor to Paledramon. "What... in the fuck...?"
Ophelia could only stare - left unsure of what exactly had transpired since she had lost contact with the angels, only being left to infer from what she could see now that... Some sort of fight had transpired, and now these five individuals were, perhaps, the winners - at least seeing as the Mephistomon-X was vastly outnumbered. She'd finally tear her eyes away from the screen to follow Paledramon's gaze towards the mountain - murmuring "Yeah, I... I didn't exactly expect this shit, either - but... I suppose you can understand why the angels would be particular about wanting to pinpoint the locations of the demon lords, and to deal with them in one way or another..."
"If you ask me... If the demons are bold enough to strike at the home of the angels that we've been helping, I think they'd be bold enough to push right past you to wake up or retrieve Belphemon... And even if it doesn't happen, I'm a little bit concerned for you. Cause you're sounding more and more tired by the second; at this rate, sleep'll take you before death does. And given what sleep seems to mean, around Belphemon..." Ophelia glanced in the Paledramon's direction - her expression was grim, serious, but also worried for the larger digimon. "Are you really sure you don't want to let us take over for you, until Belphemon's dealt with? Or to let us call in help? I highly doubt that the angels are going to hire weak-minded pansies for the job, I'm sure they and the digimon they send out will know just as much as you do about what they'll be up against when they move for Belphemon's den - and theoretically, you could help them out from the sidelines with your horn stuff, right?"
Cassie would quietly nod - her sister summed up their concerns and worries pretty decently, adding in question "I... I know you don't want other digimon to deal with all the troubles you have, but... If noone else is going to stand vigil here after you're gone, what's going to happen to the mountains? To Belphemon? His influence reached as far as the foot of this mountain, where a civilized digimon had been affected, too..." She'd make a soft, unsure noise in her throat - asking "If... If you're not here, will Belphemon's influence just get bigger? Will the storms just get worse, and more widespread..? Ophi, what'll happen to Mom if it happens? Or Dad? Or Lae?"
Ophelia would fall quiet for a second at the questions - the worry in Cassie's voice was quite apparent, and it was making it clear that the little Gomamon-X was growing unnerved, the stress was getting to her... Maybe she shouldn't have had let Cassie come with her on this mission? ... The Spadamon would quietly shake away the doubt - picking Cassie up in a great hug, prompting a brief "Eep!" squeak of surprise out of her. "Mom n' Dad're tough, like hell they'd get hurt or in trouble, if we can take this!" Ophelia would declare to her sister - adding "And if shit got fucky back home, I'm sure we could always move and find a new den! For now though, we need to focus on this. Okay, Cass?"
Cassie would peer up at Ophelia, her head tilted backwards to do so, eyes wet and shiny from the tears that had come up with the young digimon's worry, but... She'd blink them away and nod - "Mm... Okay," She'd respond - not quite as spirited, but she was feeling a bit better with Ophelia's reassurance. "... I'm still worried though. For the mountains, for the digimon here, and... I'm worried for you, Paledramon." Cassie would glance towards the indicated digimon. "What would happen, if something happened to you...? Things are getting all tense and worked up, and even the angels that we've been trying to help have been attacked... And even with demons doing bad stuff all over the place aside, you seem to be getting more and more tired... Do... you think you'll be okay? Do you think everything here'll be okay?"

Arthur frowned as Paledramon reiterated his refusal to leave the mountain top, but the Spirit User didn't push the issue further. The mountain guardian's stance was clearly final, one he had long since settled on and nothing some college age human could waver him from. He crossed his arms over his chest and sighed before a cold gust of wind blew past him, prompting him to bunch his collar up around his cheeks. The air seemed to only get colder and colder the longer they stayed at the peak of the mountain. Another problem he hadn't considered was how they would get back down, since the lift had long since fallen far below them and choosing to trek down the mountain seemed more like suicide than a real way forward.
Arthur found himself lost in thought for a moment until Ophelia and Paledramon's concerned remarks towards whatever had finally broken through on her D-Nexus. Please tell me whatever you just saw on your screen wasn't something we really need to be worrying about..." he said, looking towards the direction they had come from. He began to chew on his thumb nail again, despite not being much left to chew on.
"Ophelia's right, Paledramon. You can't keep this up on your own forever," Arthur said, looking back up to the larger Digimon. "As much as you don't want to share your burden with others, it's already too late for that. We all share this burden to protect the Digital World from all threats. So just let us help out, add in shifts so people can rest. Anything to help keep Belphemon sealed away. But," he paused for a moment, looking back down the mountain again, "I think we need to take control of whatever's going on down there, first."

Zachary had kept his distance up till now. As did Bageeramon. The last thing either one wanted to do was escalate matters, and Zachary's outburst in his frustration didn't help so it was best he took a beat to try and clear his head. He just leaned against Bagheeramon, the black tiger's fur keeping him warm along with his own jacket snug around his neck. He had his goggles on, keeping the snow from getting into his eyes.
He would have stayed-- till he heard the static and sound from Ophilia's D-Nexus come through. Curious, he and Bageeramon went over to look. The large cat clearly overcast a shadow over Ophilia, and they saw the chaos that happened back at the angel's HQ. Zachary's expression clenched up again as he saw things go to hell fast there.
"Oh--great. Great," he said flatly, raising an arm just to have it fall to his side in frustration. Despite the frustration he clearly was feeling, his tone betrayed a lighter tone of sarcasm. "Things keep on getting better and better." He strolled away to take a pace around the area, trying to calm himself before he accidentally said something to piss off the digimon further.
He listened to Ophilia, her sister and Arthur too, not wanting to cause any trouble, but the situation was much worse. To do nothing would only cause more trouble and just otherwise sit back and let things go to hell.
Taking a deep breath, Zachary approached Paledramon once more. "Look, I am very sorry how I acted, but things are just that bad. Now we can do a few things with the situation we have now?" he explained as calmly and clearly as possible-- to reinforce Ophilia's suggestion the best he could. "Things are going to get worse before they get better. We can honor your wish, and leave and save our own butts-- OR we stick together, keep Belphemon from getting out. If we all pitch in, we can probably stop his influence at least. So please stop being so stubborn-- and let us help you!" he said in slow, firm but true words.

Support. Encouragement. Reality checks. All that and more flooded Paledramon's ears as he heard what the assembled Digimon and humans had to say. Each one left him looking down at the ground more, gritting his teeth harder. They were right. Civilians were in danger. The Digital World was in danger. He was in danger. He listened to it all, eyes downcast and fangs bared, but try as he might he couldn't think of a single counter argument. It was only when everyone stopped speaking that he finally allowed himself to respond.
His choice was little more than a single, bitter laugh. "Don't ye get it? This ain't a war we can be winning," he said, voice rueful. "We lost the second the Beast was sealed away in that mountain. Aye, he's been poisoning the land ever since. Those who tried to hold him back succumbed. Those who tried to fight him fell. Not even a Mega can withstand his might. Even those that took that step beyond could barely stand a chance. And if the demons be attacking the angels in their own homes, what chance do we even have? I was trying to break it to ye easy, but the truth is? We be doomed. Soon the whole thrice-damned tundra's gonna be as iced over as his lair be. The best chance we have be to run for the bloody hills.
I'm a dead 'mon walking. Don't follow me. Or do. I won't be around much longer to care."
And yet, clearly not everyone subscribed to this level of pessimism. The humans on Ophelia's Digivice stood tall, even as a massive GranDracmon touched down in front of them. A Cherubimon materialized behind them, casting golden light from their hands to revive the fallen angels and heal the wounds of those on the battlefield. If they could stand tall against one of the mightiest demonic Digimon, why was Paledramon hiding from a mere presence like this? He averted his eyes, scoffing, but he found himself turning back to the Digivice again and again.
". . . This is what the Beast wants, isn't it? To break down our wills to wee pieces," Paledramon muttered. That last moment of weakness seemed to be just what Paledramon needed, if only so he could see how quickly he was approaching rock bottom. "I've been a fool. Nothing but a goddamn fool, just playing into its hands. I wasted the prime of my life withering away, and for what? To lie down, die, and let the beast finish the job? Now I couldn't stand against it if I tried! Oh, such a damn fool!
. . . But not ye. And not the ones ye fight for. Maybe the best thing I can do is admit this just ain't me fight anymore." Paledramon sighed, a weary, guilty smile on his face. "I'll keep the winds at bay with me horn. Just a little further down the mountain, now. The seal be right behind me." He turned and pointed towards a large wall of stone, one of the last portions of mountain before the peak. It looked just like the rest of the frozen rock, but on closer inspection seemed to have eye-like notches spaced equally apart from one another. Sheets of stone and ice formed jagged edges along the wall, almost like the maw of a great beast. The whole wall seemed to glare down at those beneath it, as if it were alive.
Even if it weren't, however, something beneath it was. And for the time being, that something was sealed away as it should be.

The two sisters would watch, as Paledramon spoke - at first trying to stand his ground and keep up resistance, but... Soon, the icy dragon would deflate, would begin to falter, as he gradually realized the error of his ways - and saw his self-destructive behavior for what it was. Ophelia and Cassie were both sympathetic to Paledramon's issues, though Ophelia would be the one to speak up in sympathy this time - stepping up and reaching up to pat the dragon.
"Frankly, if you ask me? Y'ain't a fool. You're just tired." The Spadamon would begin, crossing her arms. "You've been through a hell of a lot, anyone can tell that much at just a glance;" She would briefly pause to nod towards Paledramon's injuries, "and any Digimon would probably come out of the shit you've been through feeling at least a little tuckered out. This might not be our fight, but you're damn strong for having fought it for so long, and damn stubborn - maybe even more stubborn than me!" She'd bark a laugh with this, grinning up to the Paledramon. "Hell, I imagine you've been at this since before I've even hatched, with how damn big you are! Frankly, I should be learning from ya, how to stand up to all this mindfuckery that Belphemon puts out - I'd like to think that my willpower's pretty impenetrable, but..." She'd briefly tap the side of her head. "... I admit that the asshole got to me a couple of times, here and there."
Cassie, too, would come up to give Paledramon a hug, mentioning "I imagine that we'll have to wait until we pass the message on back to the angels, since they seem to be busy with the other big digimon right now... So maybe we can keep you company, until it's time for us to let them know the good news? I'd like to talk to you, and get to know you some more!" She'd pair this with a bright, cheery smile - planting herself down next to him and nuzzling against him. "You seem like a really nice digimon, deep down, even if you're rough and tough from guarding this place for so long - and I wanna be your friend, if you're okay with it!"
Whilst Cassie would snuggle up to the Paledramon though, Ophelia would glance out towards the seal, that Paledramon had been guarding. A stone wall, etched with notches that almost looked like eyes... Ophelia would stare to it for a few moments, pondering; though wouldn't go near it, instead giving it a healthy berth. Frankly, she didn't trust getting too close to it - even if Belphemon's influence seemed to be plateuing out here, who knew what might happen if she got to close? Instead, she'd decide to work on collecting together information for the angels; bringing up the camera function on the D-Nexus to take a picture of it, as well as noting down its location on the map function. More information, the better, she'd suppose.
It was around then though, that an idea would occur to Cassie. The lot of them, they've all been trekking around this mountain for awhile now, and Paledramon, well... He was visibly worn down, and was probably pretty exhausted, too! Her first thought was to heal everyone, before they began wrapping things up - but... As much as she took pride in her ability to heal, she also knew that she probably wouldn't be able to heal everyone sufficiently before she tired out. So, instead... Cassie would focus for a moment - trying to call upon those abilities that the angels had entrusted to them, before calling out "Cherubimon! Do you think you could give everyone a pick-me-up, Paledramon here especially? He's been through a whole lot, and I'd really appreciate it if you could, please and thank you!"
Ophelia, in the meantime, would return to Paledramon and Cassie's side, eyeing her D-Nexus for a moment, before glancing over to Arthur, Zachary, and Panthermon. "Hey, guys, c'mere - how about we do some selfies?" She'd ask, holding up her D-Nexus with a wide grin. "If we're gonna be friends, the lot of us - you included, Paledramon! - I want some photos to remember it by!" Frankly? This mission went pretty damn well, and it had her in high spirits, Belphemon's influence be damned. They were doing it, they were making the first steps to dealing with this Demon Lord crisis! She could only begin to imagine how the angels would feel, about all of this, once they were ready to receive the news.

Arthur smiled as the others also worked to cheer up and reaffirm their support towards the Paledramon. Even Zachary made an effort to recover from his earlier blunder. It seemed they were finally getting through to the larger Digimon, though unfortunately it did not seem in the way they had intended. Arthur frowned as Paledramon seemed to be residing himself to a pointless fate and giving up entirely. on his self appointed mission. He sighed in disappointment, just about ready to give up himself on trying to convince Paledramon, otherwise.
That was when he looked to Ophelia's Digivice, following Paledramon's gaze to the screen and seeing the positive turn of events at the bottom of the mountain. His smile returned and it only grew wider as Paledramon grew more confident and aware of the mistakes he made through his life. Ophelia and Cassie were quick to encourage the larger Digimon further. "You're a real hero, Paledramon! Standing against the force of Belphemon all by yourself for so long!" he said. "But even heroes have to rest, at times. So, if we can get someone up here to help you out, take a break down the mountain. Namely, a long nap."
The young American looked past Paledramon towards the stone wall he had indicated. He trudged through the snow slightly until he reached it, joining Ophelia as she took a picture. Arthur scratched his chin as he gazed at the etchings in the wall for a moment before gently running his fingers across them. "So, behind this is where that monster resides. Just a bit of magical stone keeping something that powerful sealed away," Arthur mused, looking over to Ophelia and rolling his eyes in amusement as she invited them for a selfie. "I think I can get behind that."

After much deliberation, grumpiness and calming dwon... the old dragon digimon finally allowed to be cooperative with them. At first, Zachary wanted to smack him upside the head to snap him out of his slump but his attitude soon changed. He soon saw its what the beast wanted to just give in to dispair. "I been a fool." Being something Zachary couldn't help but stifle his breath at and covered his mouth to stop the natural "like I said." reaction. Panthermon would of done worse. After finally making sense and direction of where to go-- it seemed Ophelia finally got things to work and make them all friends. The pushy little white lion urged them all together to get them into a group picture-- of which Zachary reluctantly joined and nuzzled in close with Panthermon beside them as the cat sat down to fit into the shot. FInally, the old dragon digimon revealed the place which he guarded. He would use his horn to keep the evil winds and whispers at bay while they would investigate. Finally, Zachary smiled-- just in time for the picture by the way. With the picture done with a memorable shot, Zachary turned to Paledramon and bowed his head to him. " Thank you. I promise we will do all we can." he said and joined the others. Both Zachary and Bageeramon looked upon the stone slab-- that contained the great evil within. " I wonder how this thing was made. It must of took many Digimon to even move this in place, let alone enchant it. So what should we do now? We got the position, but now what do we do? It's clear the angels have their hands full down the mountain. We could keep guard here till they show or... " Zachary mused aloud. Bageeramon approached the stone and sniffed it-- which he then recoiled his head back. The guardian of darkness within him made him cringe at the corrupted energy the stone radiated. " This thing is ancient-- and worn down. No wonder the demon beast's influence is so strong. We either need to replace or reinforce it. Out of respect to Paledramon, I wouldn't entertain the thought to fight this thing. But if we understood what was used to create the barrier, we at least could contain its evil indefinitely. " he explained. Zachary turned to Paledramon, curious about something. " Paledramon, do you know by chance how Belphemon was contained in the stone to begin with and what was used? Until more support comes, we could try to reinforce it with our own effort. " Zachary said as he held his Digivice. Perhaps... maybe... their Digivices held the key? (Incert plot device )

A ghostly image of a Cherubimon appeared, looming over the assembled Digimon with a weary look in their eyes. "When it rains it really pours, huh? I swear, by the time I get a free moment . . ." they grumbled. Nevertheless, they spread their arms wide, a warm light shining down on all those present. Frostbite, wind-blown cuts, and ice-hammered bruises mended, fatigue ebbed out of their bodies, and a sense of warmth and peace washed over them. Once their job was done, Cherubimon tipped an invisible hat and blinked away into nothing.
At the heal, Paledramon sighed, slumping against the cliffside wall. "Well, ain't this the best I've felt in ages!" he cheered, although he still looked a lot more haggard than the other Digimon. The lingering effects of Belphemon's presence couldn't really be whipped away in a single night, and it was clear Paledramon was trying to keep up a brave face. "I'll go off and resume me watch. I might teach ye a thing or two while we're up here, and maybe we can even reinforce the seal. It's just a bit o' magic, nothing one of ye won't be able t-"
"That's not gonna be necessary."
Bagramon's voice spilled out from Ophelia's D-Nexus. Negotiations with the GranDracmon seemed to be reaching an even point. All Digimon assembled had laid their arms down, and now Bagramon and Rasielmon were free to resume their roles of mission control. "Let's be honest here. Keeping this thing sealed away? Nice idea. Been helping here and there. But clearly not sustainable, unless you kids want to take Paledramon's place. And that ain't happening," he said. "No, no, we got what we needed. And now we can plan how to take this thing down."
"Ye can't!" Paledrmaon shouted, wide-eyed. "The beast will warp yer minds! He'll drive ye to nothingness! And with the seal gone, he'll warp the mountains a thousand times faster than before! Yer gonna get us all killed, ya-"
"Worry not, guardian! We will plan extensively before making landfall within the mountain," Rasielmon assured, her voice calm and soft. "We have ways of entering without disrupting your wards. And with the expertise of Ophanimon and Cherubimon backing us up, we'll have plenty of information on how to best kill a Demon Lord. I can assure you, we aren't your average rag-tag batch of heroes.
I'll smooth things over with Paledramon from here. Perhaps you should all head home. Admirable as it is that you wish to keep Paledramon company, the longer you stay in Belphemon's presence, the worse his presence in your mind will linger. Although . . . perhaps I can allow one selfie before recalling you." A large, golden gate opened in a nearby wall, sending Paledramon jumping away in shock. "Excellent job today! We couldn't have done this better ourselves."

Cassie would smile brightly up to the image of Cherubimon as they worked their magic - healing everyone's fatigue and aches, and healing Paledramon's extensive wounds. "Thank you bunches, Cherubimon!" She'd cheer to the angel, the other's presence seeming to make her mood even brighter as it was. As Cherubimon finished up their work and left though, Cassie would note how the healing would leave her feeling a little more spry, a little more energetic - and Ophelia, too, seemed to share in this notion. The Spadamon would be idly stretching her limbs as she grinned faintly to herself - feeling ready for a whole 'nother trek, if she felt so inclined.
It seemed that Paledramon would be more or less feeling the same way as well; though it was clear that he was still feeling out of it and exhausted, even past the healing. Ophelia, though, would still come over to the ice-dragon to sit down next to him - purring briefly and contentedly - before mentioning "Hey, maybe we oughta have a nice friendly spar sometime! Get your blood pumping and whatnot," with a playful grin; her tail swishing. "I'd certainly like to see what you can do - given that you must be a pretty strong digimon!" Cassie would be unable to help a brief giggle at Ophelia's eagerness, and would take the time to hug Paledramon - resting against him with a happy hum.
Though, both sisters would prick up as they heard a voice from Ophelia's D-Nexus; Bagramon's voice, to be specific! Ophelia's ears would prick up as she took out the D-Nexus once more to look at the screen - noting that everything was calming down, and that Bagramon and Rasielmon were free to talk to them once more. She'd listen briefly as Paledramon and the angels conversed - Paledramon clearly not feeling keen on letting people face Belphemon, even now. But Rasielmon was quick to reassure him, and Ophelia would speak up as well - mentioning "It's like I said before, I doubt that the angels would send people out here unprepared; it'll be fine." with a confident grin.
Though, there also came the fact that the five of them likely shouldn't linger any longer than necessary. Rasielmon had a point, in that Belphemon's presence and aura were still very much here, and very much real; though Ophelia frowned a little, unsure of whether they should leave Paledramon all by his lonesome. The Spadamon would glance in the ice-dragon's direction, then at Rasielmon on the screen, mentioning "We can move out once we get things wrapped up - but do you guys think you could get Paledramon here some company? Even if not directly? I don't really want to leave him going at this solo if we can help it, even if it's only for a little while." "Yeah, being up here on one's own sounds super lonely... I don't want him to be lonely any longer," Cassie would add with a sympathetic voice - nuzzling Paledramon as she did.
With Rasielmon's okay for a quick selfie though, Ophelia would be quick to hop on it - bringing up the camera function on her D-Nexus. Initially, she was unsure of what to do - because she quickly realized, that she wouldn't easily be able to fit everyone in the frame! It wouldn't take too long for her to figure out an idea, though - setting up a timer on the camera, as she set it against a rock; angling it towards everyone. "Alright... Lets group together, everyone!" She'd call - running back to Paledramon and Cassie, and practically flopping against the ice dragon with a gleeful smile; Cassie reflecting that glee with the way her tail and back half would excitedly wiggle - like how a dog with a short or stubby tail might.
It'd be shortly after everyone interested in joining the selfie would get into place that the timer would finally tick down - an audible click coming from the D-Nexus to signify that the photo has been taken. Ophelia would run over to retrieve the device, her tail eagerly swishing and swaying as she went to check the photo and how it'd come out - before giggling happily. "Look, it came out pretty nice!" She'd chirp, running over to show the others - "Do you guys have anyplace I could reach either of you, so I can send the photo to you guys, too? I've been learning to use Tamernet, and it seems a lot of digimon and humans use it, so..." She'd ask the others - particularly Arthur and Zachary. As Ophelia showed the photo though - Cassie would lean over Paledramon's torso a bit so as to see. "Eheheh, my tail's all blurry!" The Gomamon-X would giggle - adding "I guess I got a little excited, huh?"
Once Ophelia was able to exchange contact info with Arthur and Zachary though (assuming that they were interested in doing so), the two sisters would sadly have to part from the Paledramon, to head home. Cassie would give the Paledramon one last hug - giving the dragon a practical bearhug with her front flippers with impressive strength for her small body - murmuring "Be safe, okay? I wanna meet you again sometime, once all this Belphemon stuff is done!" before she'd turn to make for the portal. Ophelia, too, would add "Hell yeah - we better have a good spar, once this is all over!" in the dragon's direction, grinning and flashing him a thumbs up - before turning her attention to Arthur, Zachary, and Panthermon.
"And you guys - this has been an awesome trek, even if it got a bit hazy in the middle!" She'd call to her traveling companions. "I'd like to wrassle with all you guys, too, sometime - even you Zachary! See y'all!" "Bye-bye guys!" Cassie would wave a flipper to everyone else as they neared the portal - her tail still waggling all the whilst. Once they neared the golden doorway set in the wall, the two sisters would glance to each other, and hold hands; before finally stepping through - Cassie casting one last glance and wave back at everyone else all the while.

Arthur breathed a heavy sigh of relief as Cherubimon appeared above their heads, smiling up at the angel-like Digimon. His eyes closed as he felt the healing energy wash over him, the cut on his hand closing up. Seemed a bit convenient that help only came through at the very end of their mission, but he couldn't mad about it. They were done and they were successful. There wasn't much else he could really ask for, except a way off of the mountain and a cup of hot chocolate to finally warm up. Arthur stretched his arms over his head as he watched Ophelia excitedly talked with Paledramon, who was looking much, much better than when they had first reached the summit.
Arthur turned his attention to Ophelia's Digivice as Bagramon and Rasielmon spoke to them through it. He looked back to Paledramon as the larger Digimon protested against the restoration of the seal. It seemed that the Angel Digimon were more set on ending the threat permanently as opposed to simply keeping it packed away for the rest of time. It was a bit disappointing they wouldn't be able to keep their promise of standing guard for Paledramon as he got a chance to rest, but Arthur definitely wasn't up for defying the Angels. He was still pretty fresh to this world and stepping on the toes of the big bosses of who he was sure were the good guys probably wasn't the best way to make a first impression on being a supposed hero for the Digital World. Arthur looked down at his D-Tector for a moment, wondering what it all meant before looking back up at Ophelia, Cassie, and Paledramon as he was beckoned over to join in a picture. He rolled his eyes, a smile returning to his face as he joined in for the picture.
Arthur exchanged his contact information with Ophelia, then looked back towards Paledramon. He gave the large Digimon a two fingered salute, his smile broadening. "See ya around, space cowboy," he said as he walked to the golden gateway. He looked to Zachary next. "Stay out of trouble. If you ever want to meet up in the human world, we can always meet at the station. Or wherever. I'm not picky." He laughed, waving as he followed Ophelia and Cassie through the door.
