The records of the Digital World were far from clear at this time, but even before the world had established its modern cities, a great and terrible evil threatened to tear this world asunder. No-one knows why this suspected 'Spirit of Destruction' came to be, or even exactly how it met its end. But in these oldest of legends, that Spirit broke apart in magnificent fashion, sending its shattered remains across the land. This became a tale lost over hundreds of years, several generations...
... But those who poke around hard enough might find the story it had to tell. "Look, I get it, but are you sure its out here? If you ask me, the Devimon saying that story seemed like kind of a loon."
The Renamon found herself giving an audible sigh, shielding her eyes from the bright sun above with one outstretched arm. This wasn't the first time that Denryu had seemed enamored with the legends of this world, and this time, it brought him out to the near center of the desert, about a half mile outside the Ancient Ruins. Not only had they come way out here in the middle of the day, the General even thought it wise to wear his cloak and mask.
"Really? You've been with me this long and you think that I've come here on a wild goose chase?"
"Well, it wouldn't be the first time..." The Renamon gave a shrug, as the two made their way over the next dune. On the surface, this didn't look like any other area of the desert: there was just a largely flat, slightly-dipping area of sand. Kneeling down, the General sifted through it with a bare palm.
"That's what we're looking for. Its bleached from the sun like the rest, but these are sharper grains. More like gravel, much heavier than the rest... its why the sand here doesn't come to any hills."
"So, right here, then?" Angel cracked her neck, holding out a palm, as the General flicked a card through his Xros Loader: "Vikemon - Arctic Blizzard!"
At once, the warm temperature of the desert gave way to an icy gale, harsh winds thrust forth as they cut through that heavier ground in mass. It took a while, but with the strong attack of a mega-level card, the top layer of sand was brushed away - revealing a brief layer of small, grey pebbles, before finally unveiling a cracked surface underneath.
"Right on the money..." Angel sighed, shaking the back of her head in embarrassment, as her General stepped forward. It wasn't just an ancient floor, here: at about the center of the area, what looked like two aged chalk lines met at a perpendicular angle, before stretching off over that exposed mass, the rest of the shape hidden underneath the sand. He carefully ran a finger across that surface, as Angel kept an ear open to her surroundings.
"Just be careful, 'D'. That storm's bound to have drawn someone here."

[attr="class","xenica"]Laying down upon her stomach on a distant craggy rock formation, Xenica looked over the desert with a pair of protective binoculars, searching for anything that seemed out of place. She had arrived at this place only a few hours ago, right after leaving her friends back in that weird forest. The crimson-eyed girl began to wonder if they were having more success in finding what they were looking for. Despite the directions the Shadow Man had given her, this place was absolutely desolate. There were no glyphs here, let alone anything but sand and some old ruins. " You sure this the right place? Ain't shit here but dust and rocks, man." Xenica said into her Digivice, lowering her eyewear as she did, all but giving up on her search. As she did so, however, a massive storm of snow and ice unleashed itself upon the desert, before quickly vanishing as soon as it came. " Wait, scratch that, somethin' weird just went down." The youth was ignorant, but she certainly wasn't stupid. Ice storms didn't just sporadically happen in the desert, even in the Digital World. On top of that, Digimon capable of such abilities didn't usually dwell in this arid climate. Something was up here. When the dust and ice cleared away, lines etched into the desert using small stones and chalk became visible, clearly part of something larger. Yes - it was exactly what she was looking for! The Spirit User got up in such a hurry that she failed to scout out the human that caused this strange occurrence, and the Digimon along with him. She even almost left behind her bag, though a DemiDevimon, who had kept his mouth shut for some time now, managed to grab it and follow her down the rock formation to where the storm happened. Xenica trudged through the sands, eventually arriving at the glyph, and finally taking notice of her unwarranted company. It seemed that somebody else was looking for what she was - and they actually found it. She had no idea how this person knew about the Spirits, let alone this one's exact location. The DemiDevimon caught up to her, dropping her bag in a way that she was able to catch it, slinging it behind her back as she did. Her large, crimson red eyes glared at the stern blonde man, her waist-long night black hair catching the wind, blowing to the side in a dramatic fashion. Her attire didn't exactly scream "gang leader," consisting of a rugged leather jacket, a pair of ripped up old blue jeans, and a pair of calf-high boots. Since she and her demonic partner didn't exactly sneak up on the boy and the fox, they would have noticed them approach. " Hey, uh, there's already a couple idiots here. What now? Gonna tell em' to scram, eh? I hope, ain't nobody or anybody deserv---" The teenager roughly covered the bat's mouth with her palm in an attempt to get him to shut up. Unfortunately, the demon just kept talking, though not a word of what he was saying could be made out through the girl's hand.' " Don't listen to him, he has brain problems." Xenica looked the male up and down. He didn't seem to be armed, but you never knew in this world. His Digimon, a Renamon, seemed experienced, and if she was the cause of that earlier anomaly, she was certainly stronger than your average Rookie. Blindly engaging these two would be stupid. And as stated before, she may be ignorant, but she wasn't stupid. " Anyways, ya see, this is a little awkward. Me and my friends are kinda looking for something that's right here, and you also seem to be right here, looking for something." Her eyes looked over the glyph, trying to figure out the exact location of what she was seeking. " I'm sure we can work something out." "Well, speak of the devil and they'll appear..."
Almost as soon as Angel gave her warning, that 'drawn party' made their appearance. As this apparent tamer and her DemiDevimon partner made their way over the edge of the surrounding dune, the Renamon stepped forward, putting herself between the newcomers and her tamer. Denryu himself stood at the ready, holding his Digivice in his hand at the ready, keeping the front of the device out of sight to obscure just what kind of tamer he was.
All of this was just a precaution. It was clear that neither the girl nor the demon were trying to sneak up on them, and though the DemiDevimon was a bit mouthy, that was par for the course. Angel shot a glance to her general from the corner of her eye, and with a small signal from Denryu, the fox sheathed her weapon at her side.
Just because she wasn't going to escalate the fight didn't make her a doormat, however. "Awkward's a good way to put it. If you two are just a couple of opportunists, then I think we can just say 'we got to it first'." If it were really up to Angel, that might have been the end of the negotiations.
Denryu, however, was decidedly more interested: "I figured there had to be more to this than what that Devimon was letting on." Using that hint and a fly-over of the desert, he was able to locate the ruins themselves, but was there something that embedded these lines into the floor below? "To put it shortly, my current objective is to investigate this glyph itself and validate my informant's claims. If you have a better idea of what we're supposed to do here, then yes, I'm sure we can strike a deal - though to be clear, I'm not exactly keen on handing over what we find." Which was reasonable, at least in his eyes - he doubted Xenica could locate this glyph so quickly if she was just left to her own devices. Though, she was in the right neighborhood - best not to underestimate her.
"Tch. Hopefully we don't have to dig to the center of all this." Angel gave a glance to where the lines slipped back underneath the sand. Blowing away one hole was fine, sure, but digging through this whole part of the desert?
Borderline insanity. "At any rate, what was this 'something' you and your friends were looking for?"
