[PotT 1] The Age of Erika!

For every member of the crew –each in their own trench-, it should become evident by now this was the final stretch. They had to give absolutely everything to come out victorious. Fuu? She had taken the first step to that victory. Paying attention to the details of your past was a key detail to open a gate towards the future, and that was part of what being a pirate meant: knowing how to use any type of info at your reach. And it had paid off this time. One she managed to open the frame, she would be able to actually touch the picture. Its printing seemed old and a bit wore-out. How long ago had this been taken? If she turned the paper, she would find a gap at its backside. Something like a small pocket just adhered to the back surface. Inside, a piece of paper was folded. If Fuu took it out of the opening and actually unfurled the object, she would find a short note, written in digimoji. Can you mention two of the places I love?
What about two of the things I can’t live without?
If you want the secret passage to show
You just have to say those four things out loud! Judging by the way the riddle was written, it did not seem like the answers were unique. However, did Fuu know the things she was being asked in those questions? And, even if she did, could she find them inside her own memory? [Fuu has two turns to find a clue in Elecmon’s office] 1/3.
Two things were happening simultaneously: Kon, Warg and Koharu’s analysis of the environment and Bu’s desperate digging. While the human’s soldier-dragon wouldn’t find anything of interest by studying the trees or their branches (Pixie dust disappeared right before entering the clear where Mikemon was), the tamer herself would be able to find some things in the earth around them: One: The surface of the hole they had fallen into had already been sealed! It was like dirt had magically appeared to block the exit of its upper side. Kon had not been able to jump inside on time, and now it was much darker there. Two: the data that composed the surface of the clear above them was not… very stable. It had been programmed for something. For what? That part wasn’t easy to discern, its code was complex, but it seemed to be triggered upon contact, according to the words written on it. What did it mean? Probably scanning the rest of the soil in the clear could bring answers, but she wasn’t up above anymore to do that. Regarding Bu’s findings? After digging for a while in a straight line, she would be able to create some type of tunnel. If the Mikemon kept standing at the exact same spot, then they had probably gone right below him, just some several meters underground. Finally, the Ryudamon would find the dirt had softened again, meaning she had reached an opening! Where did they end up? Another hole, just like the one they were inside of just now. Was there another trap around the clear? If there was, it probably led here! There was something different around this particular murky, dark, underground slit. There was someone in here! Sitting on… the air, floating around five feet above the ground and with her legs crossed, Barbara had her eyes closed and her arms folded. When the sound of the dirt moving in front of her got to her ears, she just stared at whatever was coming from there. “W-What are you doing here!?” At first, she sounded shocked. Slowly, she seemed to be understanding what was going on, just by tying some ends in her head. What ensued was the same laugh that they had heard back in The Aftermath. Barbara was shrieking so hard it echoed through the hole. “I can’t… believe this! You fell for that stupid Mikemon’s trick, Kuru!” Just like the last time, she was having trouble to even speak, her own laugh interrupting her words. “So… pathetic!” She just kept laughing more and more. Well… What was she doing in here?

...That... was unbelievable. Did the thing got closed? Kon-chan glared toward where his teammates has gone to. Shit, this is a trap, huh... "Kon to Koharu, can you hear? I need your help here if possible... but I don't think it's wise to trigger the opening on that hole while you're there... if you can hear me, please dig some hole or another... see if you can move somewhere else..."
...If the communication worked, Koharu would answer Kon-chan obviously. But if not, she'll try to look on the ground herself. Thankfully her memory is good about position of the hole. She hopefully can trigger it again... but for the meantime, she tried to roughly scan with her eyes the differences between the now-covered hole ground and the normal ground...
...It'll be a bet...
Koharu meanwhile just stared blankly at Barbara. She's alone it seems.. where are her partner? "Oh, hi... errr.. Barbie!"
....Warg looked at her in disbelief. Koharu has always been such a person who pretended to misremember someone's name, just to make it easier to give them nicknames... he obviously knows this, but still...BARBIE of all thing? After a moment, laughed out loud. "What the hell!? BARBIE!? ALRIGHT, MAYBE I'LL CALL HER THAT TOO FROM NOW ON! Yeah that's good! Say, Barbie, how long as you been down here for? I mean, sure you can laugh at us, but you said 'too', you know? Aren't you laughing at yourself, practically? Anyway, why don't you cooperate with us for a bit? Pretty sure you want to go out, hmn?"
If Koharu can contact Kon-chan at this moment she would say that she's in different hole.
Now, this is an experiment... Kon-chan wanted to be sure what would the cat do if she decide to toss pebble directly to its head... while at the same time is positioned near the hole. Kon chan tossed the rock twice at the Mikemon. If he doesn't respond then... she guess she have to try opening the hole again with the trick of making the pebble fall on its place again.
If her tactic succeeded, she'll try to tell Koharu to climb out... but for some reasons, she's not... confident with her plan. What if he doesn't move now?

Fuu was many things, but dumb wasn't one of them. What she was, however, was an intellectual fox dragon turned pirate. An individual that took the words of her captain to heart. Opening the picture revealed that the picture was...far older than she had anticipated. Turning that over revealed a pocket with a piece of paper demanding four things. Two of which were places, and two of which were things that Elecmon possibly could not live without.
Fuu had to think quickly regarding this, and quickly, possibilities came to the Dorumon. Just speak them aloud, yes? "The Aftermath and the Research Building, and the students and the townsfolk." With what she knew of Elecmon, he definitely seemed like the perfect man to live here. Someone who loved people, and who loved his line of work. Would this reveal the path? "Yeah? If we 'fell for that dumb cat's trick', then what the literal crap are you doing down here too?" Bu opted to ask the obvious. Maybe riling the fairy up might get her to slip up and reveal more of her plan.
"Gah, where even is this?" The Ryudamon questioned as she tried glancing around. What was above Barbara, anywho...? If anything?

Denying that Fuu had gone very far for having very little information was preposterous. The Dorumon had, without a doubt, exceeded the expectations. Trying to push forward, she said the things she believed were fitting with what the riddle stated, just as the text indicated. The result…? It wouldn’t be evident right away. No, actually, it wouldn’t be evident after some seconds. Almost a minute had passed now, and… nothing. Ugh. Had she failed? It definitely seemed so. With the navy almost here, it was unlikely she could complete all of the steps in time. So close! Yet… so far
When faced with the imminent true, Barbara just… blushed. She blushed madly. “O-Of c-c-cour-se not! I…” But it was too late now, wasn’t it? “I-I didn’t…!” They had already seen through her deceit. Ugh! And what was that ‘Barbie’ thing all about? She was the one who usually put names on people! Not the other way around! “Shut up, shut up, shut up!” The fairy lifted one of her arms, charging up a bolt of energy right at the tip of her index finger. As soon as she swung her limb forward… the bolt disappeared before she was able to shoot it. Her eyes widening, she just stared at the outcome of her futile attempt. “I-It happened again.” Apparently, this was something she had already tried on her own before. Folding her arms again, she let out a sigh. “… Listen, Kuru! I’ve been trapped here for a while now!” Although still upset for having to work with them, she sounded a lot more willing to actually do it. “I think this place is blocking my techniques. Whenever I try to use one, I’ll feel tired as if the energy I needed for my ability was consumed, but it just won't cast!” What was going!? It seemed like a good time to listen to Barbara. She was about to tell them her side of the story. “When we arrived, I sent Zami to talk to the Mikemon.” She explained. “But I think he stepped on one of his traps. The ground just imploded and he fell into a hole, Kuru! It was frantic!” That sounded awfully similar to what happened to them, except they jumped into the hole! “After a second or two, the hole closed. I tried calling him, but got no response! So I stepped into the same piece of land and the trap activated again! However…”
This Mikemon was slow! When he got hit by the pebbles, it took him a while or two to react. However, as soon as Kon stepped on the piece of land where the trap had activated before. Boom. Once again, an explosion and a cloud of dirt, making way for a hole in the floor that Kon fell through. Inside? Absolutely nothing. A murky, empty slit. That would make sense, considering Bu and the rest had dug a hole out -and into another slit- but… the hole was not there. The surface of the wall of dirt surrounding the armed dragon was intact. Had she arrived a different hole although she fell into the same trap? “… There was no one here.” Barbara finished that sentence looking a bit worried. “It’s like he disappeared! The Mikemon keeps opening holes as traps but… once the holes are sealed, we’re taken somewhere else! I don’t even know if we’re below that stupid cat anymore, Kuru!”Who was that Mikemon? And what in the world was going on? Deciphering his system of traps was proving to be a lot harder than what it seemed like at first.
… Wait! What was that?
Something was making a sound! Fuu could actually hear something moving. And it was right inside the room! At first, the sound was a bit mild. However, a faint vibration would make evident something was happening!
If the Dorumon looked at the eastern wall… she would notice a certain area in it was moving!
It had worked! It really had worked! After the movement was over, a small passage (just big enough to fit an Agumon) had opened in the wall. Once Fuu went through it (she had to hurry!) she’d find out it consisted only of a small hall, barely illuminated by some bulbs adhered to the walls, and that would quickly reach its end. By the end of it, she would find a stone tablet and the last part of this puzzle engraved on it.
“First of all, I can only say… thank you, for being so interested in my work.
As I explained in my book, How to Read and Draw Nautical Charts. Beginners' Edition, using symbols and a cryptic language is necessary to hide any secret. Therefore, I made sure no one who did not know enough about me could find this tablet. If you’re reading this, it probably means I am dead or in a much-endangered position. It also means you know enough about me and my research to get you this far and, most importantly, you have a very interesting ability to see beyond what is hidden.
Sadly, I have one more trail for you. While I believe all types of information should be at everyone's reach, I also believe there is some information that can only be shared with people who proves to be worthy. If you go through this, then you would have gained the right to see the secret behind years of research and, in case I’m still alive, you probably will be able to find me in the only place I could be found.
Good luck’
Right below these words, a set of 8 stone buttons could be found. They looked like small plates that protruded out of the stone, each of them showed the image of a digimon, each of them with the shape of an arrow drawn on each side (up, down, right, left). They could be spun to face into any of the four directions, and they could be tapped too. Apparently, there was an exact combination of things you had to do to them, in a certain order, since each tap and spin seemed to be important.
Labramon, Caturamon, Piyomon, Swanmon, Mikemon, Dogmon, Soundbirdmon, Tortamon.
Below the plates, some more words could be read.
“Do not spin animals that are not asking to be facing somewhere in particular. Except for the tortoise, focus on the labels. Do not try to establis a correspondence with the text through their species, but through the names. Look for the names that contain what you must manipulate and ignore everything else.”

Hmmm, so they're just trapped here? "Now now, temper, temper, Barbie. Don't be angry alright?" Koharu tried to calm down the fairy. Actually... she wondered if it have the reverse effect instead? Ah well. "Although honestly while I don't like being attacked, this pretty much says that we're unable to use any attacks in here... which is nifty and all, but mmmmeh? You got my drift?"
Either way... Kon-chan's transmission came suddenly.
"Haru, check the previous hole, see if any opening was made," she told her partner. Warg shook his head negative. He's not sure if it's any good to separate now... what if the tunnel got closed for some reason or another? That's not good.
"Warg said he doesn't feel anything. And... According to Barbara here, even same hole would lead to different holes.
"Barbara? There? Ah I got what this meant... ask her if there is any clue regarding this Mikemon. I don't think we find our cat. This is not the cat that look toward the sky."
"So you heard her... can you tell us why you approached the Mikemon? Got any sort of clue regarding the guy or something? Also, why is the wall that leading to your part of the hole is like... wet?"
Warg meanwhile decided to look for same opening... there must be wet part of the wall, similar to the one that connected them... or maybe another way... Koharu meanwhile? She decided to test if her grappling hook could somehow pierce the top of the hole, see if that can help Kon-chan to locate them.

Did...Did she do it right? Fuu waited with some strange mixture of dread and anticipation as she waited for something, anything to happen after she said the four things most precious to Elecmon. The Dorumon was sincerely hoping that something would happen.... Meanwhile...Bu didn't flinch as Barbara tried and whiffed a technique. "...Ah. So the pits 'silence' your ability to use techniques in here." She concluded. So, she wouldn't be able to fire a sword up to see where it would go. Perhaps she could try climbing out? Koharu meanwhile opted to test her grappling hook out, so Bu decided to try her hand at using the same claws she used to dig her way through the wall to see if she could try climbing up. Not out of the hole, just climbing up.
"Let's see..." Meanwhile, back with Fuu...
The Dorumon was swiftly alerted by a noise. Something, namely the eastern wall, was moving! "Eureka...!" She murmured as a passage opened. One she swiftly dove into and trotted down. The end of the trail was near, was it not?
It was. In the form of a tablet, and a message from Elecmon himself. "...Symbols and cryptic...Okay. I'll find you." She said, after a few moments spent reading through the Elecmon's writing. Fuu looked below to find a set of eight Digimon.
Labramon, Caturamon, Piyomon, Swanmon, Mikemon, Dogmon, Soundbirdmon, Tortamon.
Look for names that correspond with what she was looking for...But...what was she looking for? She looked to her D-Nexus' messages. Specifically any of the ones with information regarding the book...Then, there was that...odd message.
‘Look behind the sunset. Forget about the tortoise, feed the bird three times, pat the dog once and make sure the cat is looking at the sky.’
She already looked behind the sunset. It was time to apply the last parts about that. Ignoring Tortamon, she hovered a claw over the button representing Soundbirdmon. She tapped that three times. That, was as close to feeding as one would get here. Next, she moved her claw towards Dogmon. She pressed that once. Petting. Right? Finally, she moved her claw to rotate Caturamon's button upwards. Towards the sky.
"...Is that it?"

Even if it seemed like this infinite puzzle was finally over, things had just begun for the Pirates of the Treasure. It had been a truly exhausting, tiresome trip to this point, going through every bump Elecmon had placed in the way of those who seek to find him. The whole puzzle had been divided into multiple stages, making the crew find a new obstacle within each of them. Well, apparently, the answers they were looking for had finally arrived. Once Fuu spun the Caturamon to leave it facing north, the eight buttons started spinning and moving around the stone tablet, making a circular shape. The whole wall where the slab was located started moving forward, pushing the Dorumon away from the hallway (unless she ran out of it first) and returning the office to its original structure. Throughout the whole layout where the passage had opened, a video started playing, almost as if it was being beamed into the wall, except there was no projector. Fuu would be able to see different schemes and figures that outlined the explanation about to be issued. The GATE system. “Hi! My name is Elecmon. I’m a scientist and cartographer. If you’re watching this… It’s very possible I’m either dead or involved in a very dangerous situation. But that’s okay! I’m here to explain the most valuable project I’ve ever developed, a program that can change the Digital World forever: The Gear Alternate Terminal Extraction System, also known as the GATE system.
After traveling across the digital seas in an attempt to draw maps of the whole Digital World, my research brought me to build a theory about how the seas of data in our world work. That is what I called the Gear theory. Basically, the sea in our world works like a giant gear.I’ll try to explain this is a simple way: the outer circle of that gear represents the Digital World. That is where we all live. Naturally, traveling through that vast gear might take years, while there are some hidden places you can’t see and therefore you can’t access.
The reason why I compare the seas to a gear and not to a regular circle are the bulges. What do the bulges in the gear represent, then? Those are access points. When a digivice has the Digiport program, an access point is opened in point A, in order to allow the user to travel to point B, making the user travel through the bulges and then enter the outer circle again, which is our world. Of course, this significantly reduces the effort of traveling from A to B in a ship or any conventional method.
But you probably knew all of this, more or less, right?
Naturally, the limitations of the Digiport system are evident: First of all, you can’t travel to places you haven’t visited before if such places are not registered in the data of the system. Basically, you can’t go places no one has ever gone before. The second limitation is you can only travel, you cannot stay in the tunnel created between point A and B as no part of the gear is there, right? You would fall into the void and your data would be lost forever. Using the GATE to travel
What happens if you make the gear spin really fast, then? You’ll notice you can’t see the bulges anymore. It looks like it’s a single giant circle spinning. That is what the GATE system is about. The world, which is our giant gear, is actually composed of many, many little gears. If we manage to shake the data of our environment fast enough, we can make the gear we're stepping on spin really fast, creating an alternate dimension between the bulges. This is an alternate dimension located in the same physical space of the gear we're making spin where no one will find us! Once a bulge in the little gear is opened, the user will enter the alternate tunnel of that spinning gear. This is an entirely parallel dimension to that gear, created out of pure entropy. I'll call the areas of this parallel dimension bulges. Depending on where you activate the GATE system the bulges might look like holes, underwater shafts, and even buildings!
I have tested the GATE system in certain areas of our town, especially those no one ever visits. By convoluting the data in the area, I am making the small gear that area represents spin quickly. That way, I’ve managed to successfully create alternate dimensions where I can travel around that area. Isn’t that amazing?
It gets better.
The final stage
The final stage of the GATE program, which I am currently working on, allows you to make spin one of the small gears located basically anywhere around the world, regardless if you're physically occupying that area at the moment. This works as long as you have a piece of data that was created in that area that gear represents.
To put it simply, if I have ANY form of data that comes from B, I can make the gear that represents B spin, creating a tunnel that allows me to travel from my spinning gear in A to the spinning gear in B. If this stage is completed, the program would allow the user to go to the place where that piece of data came from, regardless if it's registered in any previous system like the Digiport or if it has ever been visited before.
For example, if I activated this stage of the GATE system by using the data of a Dracmon who was born in the Dark Area, it will instantly take me to the place where they were born, in the Dark Area. This would work with objects, digimon, and basically any piece of data.
Even civilizations or hidden grounds that had been lost for centuries can be discovered through this system!
Sadly, the final phase of the project is not completed, and I still need to conduct more research to get to a point where this is possible.
The persecution Eventually, disgrace stroke. For the past days, I’ve had the feeling someone is following me, and I can’t help but think they discovered what I’m working on. I've kept this to myself because I don't want my students to get involved. If something happened to them... I would never forgive myself.
Last night, when I got to my house, it had been completely torn apart. It seems like someone was looking for something. I don’t feel safe in my workplace anymore. I don’t feel safe anywhere.
I was contacted by the Navy. They invited me to visit them in one of their headquarters, located in Re-Re Island. Why? I did not tell them what I was working on but… I feel somehow they know. If feel they might be scared I might give this program to someone dangerous. I told them I would go next month and that I needed someone to watch over me here, so they said they would send a patrol and they would arrive within three days. Lately… I've been feeling I might not make it there.
I’ve created this record only for someone worthy to find it. The clues that lead here and to my location can be found between the Aftermath and a book I gave to my best friend, more than 20 years ago. If you’re listening to this, it means something bad happened to me, and someone might be using my program for evil purposes.
A program is not useful if anyone can deactivate it, and that’s why I erased all of my research related to this program, except for this record. To deactivate the GATE program, you need to activate the command console while being inside of the bulges. To do so, you must write ‘Command Console’ in any of the surfaces inside the bulge, regardless of the shape the bulge decides to take. You can write that with a marker, on the dirt with your claws or however you prefer. Trust me, it will work.
The command console will appear in a hologram, where you must type the code 0040. Once you do, you’ll be thrown outside of the bulge and back into the area where the GATE system was activated. To activate it again, my voice is required, although I have no doubts someone might find the way to hack into the program to activate it.
In case I am still alive, then you definitely should head to the Aftermath. There, talk to my friend Erismon and tell him: ‘I made the 8 buttons spin.’ He’ll understand.“
Just like that, the broadcast finished. If anyone entered the room now, they would find everything looking exactly like before Fuu entered, since the secret passage had been closed and the video was over. It was probably a good time for the Dorumon to think about all of the information she had received. Besides getting the hell out of that office, before the Hangyomons arrived! “Not at all. I don’t know who he is. At first, I thought he was some Navy soldier, considering the whole city is full of those, looking for Elecmon. But now… I think he’s just some random digimon?” Barbara pondered, sitting on the ground and trying to think. “Zami tried to approach him to ask him if he knew anything interesting, but… The traps activated.”
Then, the fairy glanced towards the hole made by Bu, which had already closed. “I did not know you could dig your way through the holes. It looks like they are constantly being changed of place.” Huh… it was almost as if the piece of data they were occupying right now was constantly spinning. Like a gear spinning. With bulges changing places. Although Koharu would be able to reach the ‘roof’ of the hole with the grappling hook, Kon would not be able to see anything on the other side. It was as if Koharu and the rest were occupying a different dimension right now. The piece of ground covering the hole would make the hook bounce back. The same for Bu. She could climb up the wall of the hole, but once she tried to dig her way out through the upper part, it would bounce her back to the floor. Barbara let out a sigh. “Of course I tried that.” She then looked at the rest of the crew. “So you really don’t have any info that can get us out of here, right?”

Koharu is thankful for everything Fuu has done. She's right to send that part about the code to her teammates. She could crack it! Amazing! Either way, she listened in to the recording. At first, her face looked blank, but the more she listened, the more her lips curved into full grin.
"'Determination', information received, over," she would declare to her D-Nexus.
She can't believe it. She already can hear Yuuki screaming in joy on how they must recruit Elecmon right here and now and that he'll give him protection he needed... pity that Erika will probably want the Elecmon to stay with them though. Either way, Ys is not something that can be easily breached, and probably almost impossible at that. The GATE system? Holy fuck, that's like what they want to learn about with MAYOIGA! Koharu wasted no time. Pity Elecmon isn't around...
...She know now how point entrance to Astrivia can be made. With how the data from that structure can be used as entryway... yeah, she got it now. Goddamn! For the first time in a while, she got fired up! This is how adventure is!
"No," she countered Barbara, grinning as she readied something. "I definitely know how to do this. I'm not telling you HOW though."
She quickly took out a chopsticks and write something on the ground. It's Digimoji, with the command being "Command Console"
...Should it activated, she'll obviously used the code she she learned. 0040 wasn't it?
Kon-chan meanwhile understood that Koharu would try what she has obtained. She readied herself. Could this Mikemon be the one who's responsible for the trashing?

When Archimedes had stepped into the tub and saw how the water level rose, the man exclaimed 'Eureka!' How was this important to Fuu right now? Well, she had solved the trail, and found Elecmon's magnum opus. Or something she would definitely consider worthy of being called one. A video had begun regarding a theory that Fuu found genuinely interesting, and she...got the D-Nexus to record that. Just...record all of it.
It was better than trying to frantically transcribe everything. Command Console, Gear System....The intricacies were a lot for Fuu to take in, but she was able to get everything down pat in her head as she finished recording, and sent it out to every D-Nexus in town.
...She needed to get out of here. The Dorumon stowed her D-Nexus away and bolted down the hallway, and into the office. From there, she would run back the way she came, hopefully unimpeded. If that were the case? She'd try to find the vent she came in from and go through it. Would that work? Bu's efforts to climb up to the top were met with her being propelled right back down, and as she landed? Her own Nexus buzzed with something as Koharu gained the -smug grin of a lifetime, holy shit.- The Ryudamon rose with a cough. "...Yeah. We have our way out of here." She looked to Koharu and nodded. She didn't know the thing considering she wasn't about to listen to the recording, but...
"Do it." She knew Koharu would. And she was trusting in her.

It was taking some time for Fuu to get out of the Research Lab. The road was clear but… it made sense it would take her around the same time to get out as it took her to get to the point where she was previously, right?
As a matter of fact, what the Pirates of the Treasure had accomplished was truly worthy of applause. They had managed to go through all of the obstacles and crack the mystery about Elecmon and its disappearance. Or, at least, almost to its fullest. But… what must a pirate do when deceit is the only thing waiting at the end of the road? “Wait… you do?” To the words issued by the Pirates of the Treasure, Barbara only blinked twice, tilting her head. “Well! What is it? Tell me!” She leaned her body forward. While she was being ignored, she just yelled louder. “Hey! Are you listening to me? I demand you to tell me now!”As soon as Koharu called for the Command Console with that chopstick, a holographic keyboard and a screen appeared in front of her. Once again, as if it was being beamed from somewhere. Oddly enough, the human could press the keys perfectly. If this wasn’t all the confirmation they needed that they were, in fact, inside one of the GATE System’s bulges, the sound of a ‘beep’ as soon as the human pressed the code echoed inside the hole. Elecmon’s voice could be heard again. ‘GATE System Terminated’
With that, they would notice how their surroundings had decomposed into a bunch of data, just before a white light blinded them and they felt their bodied being pulled and spit out. Immediately, they would be able to tell this had had some effect on them. They would feel very, VERY dizzy. All of them would be unable to move for now, just out of their head spinning all around and their body feeling extremely heavy. Bu, Koharu and Warg would be able to tell they were, once again, outside of the hole, right in the clear where it all had begun. Kon should be very close to them, and that Mikemon too. The cat had sat down on the floor now, looking fairly nervous. Some feet away from them, Barbara and that Zamielmon, who the Tinkermon referred to as Zami. “We’re out.” The fairy’s partner noted. “I feel a bit dizzy. It must be a secondary effect of whatever that was. Ew. Rookies and human must feel like crap right now.” Apparently, the side effects of the program were less damaging on stronger digimon. Instead of paying any attention to her companion, Barbara pointed at the Mikemon. The cat flinched to then starting running away. Like a bolt of lightning, the female pirate crossed the whole scenery, giving chase to the beast digimon, who seemed to stop in front of an invisible wall, only for the fairy to catch him. Something was off about Barbara, though, she looked… different. “Damn it!” For the first time, the Mikemon had talked! And his voice was… oddly similar to the voice of someone they had heard speak just some seconds ago. Zami, still rubbing his head, walked towards the fairy, who was holding the Mikemon by his lower paw. “Why did you stop?” He asked the cat. “The system… it needs to rebuild the data of the gear where it was used, so it won’t let anyone get out for 10 minutes.”Zami grabbed a pebble and threw it to the horizon. It bounced back as if it had hit an invisible force field. “That’s a shame. That means we’re trapped here for some minutes.”“No…” Barbara, who had remained quiet up until now, muttered. Her voice was different, it sounded less like a teenager and more like a woman. “T-That’s actually… perfect.” A line of fractal code made the bow on Barbara’s head vanish. As she turned, the group could see how her face was changing shape. “You know when you actually don’t plan for anything, but everything comes out exactly as you would want it?” The fairy’s voice started breaking. “It is so much better than when you plan for something. When you mock your enemies, when you make them help you, when you hide a piece of information from them all along. All of that... all of it makes it...” As she turned to face the crew, the red marks on her cheeks disappeared too and those sea-blue eyes turned bigger. “... That makes it even more chaotic, Kuru... And you know...?”
By tapping the Mikemon with her index finger, she made another fractal code engulf him. When it disappeared... It revealed what the Pirates of the Treasure probably knew already by this point. “I love, chaos!”“Agh! Let me go!” Elecmon wiggled with all of his strength, trying to break free from her grasp. Immediately, she threw the electric digimon to Zami, all of the time being aware of their surroundings, so they wouldn’t be surprised by the only enemy crew member who was not dizzy. “Just finish them off quickly, okay?” Catching the scientist, Zami looked for his place on the branch of a tree, sitting on it. “Oh, Kuru... I can only promise…
... IT WILL BE CHAOTIC!”
BATTLE: CHAOS PIRATE BARBARA (UNLEASHED)
Although Barbara’s size had not changed, she seemed faster and bulkier. Her resistance seemed to have increased, too! The fairy started laughing maniacally as the combat began. The blonde extended her arms, holding her red spear tight. With a swing, she duplicated it! Now she had one in each hand! In a movement that began as sluggish and ended up like almost impossible to see, Barbara started spinning to create a sort of giant twister. The wind started revolutionizing the whole environment, creating a gust that traveled around the stage, without the fairy moving from the same spot. From her position, spears would start flying in the direction of every digimon member of the crew. They weren't just two, however. While she kept spinning, the spears kept being thrown and the wind kept blowing with more intensity! At this moment, the crew should have stopped feeling dizzy from the effects of the GATE System. However, they had a lot of things to worry about now! Combat log:
-Battle begins! -Kuru! activates -Barbara uses Chaos Twister -Barbara uses Spear Massacre
Kuru! [Passive ability]: Barbara can use two active abilities at the first turn of any battle or each time she dealt damage to two or more opponents with the same technique last turn.
Chaos twister: Barbara starts performing some dance that only denotes her loss of sanity, increasing her speed as she spins and thrashes. The faster she goes, the stronger the wind blows around her, creating a shield that reduces the damage of projectiles in 50% and nullifies any physical damage from a champion or lower. The gust of wind grows up to a 40 meters radius, protecting Barbara and slightly destabilizing small members (most rookies).
Spear massacre: Barbara spins in her own axis, throwing many red spears to up to three enemies around her. The spears deal medium damage and pierce through any passive that aims to hamper or nullify the damage caused by them.

Oh, oh that makes sense... but now they're pretty much locked in this huh? Koharu heaved some air as she and Warg barfed. Warg might have data amount of Ultimate stage, but he can't yet access his forms above adult... And seeing Barbara and Zamielmon holding their future important team member... it made him seethe. Warg looked at Kon-chan who nodded. The two Digimons evolved, coating themselves with cocoon of data. The moment they came out, it's as Black Growmon and Sealsdramon.
Koharu... slowly brings out something from her pocket. At first it looked like a normal stick... but the moment she thrust it out, the stick extended into pole, with three petals banner. She inhaled. Despite the incoming danger, she know what to do. You don't challenge a child of determination with that sort of thing.
"KIZNA, TO ARMS!"
At this point, Koharu's D-Nexus sent signal to Fuu's, alerting that they're in combat.
Kon-chan was first one to act. Being not dizzy from the break of GATE system, she decided to first dodge the attack from Barbara. This bitch, she's perfect stage isn't she!? Kon-chan seriously had cold sweats running down her cheek as she dodged the attacks... Had it not because her passive increasing her speed, she would probably get hit. The Sealsdramon moved in such speed improbable for one of her bulk on land.
Even then however, she have no time for any of her usual schticks. Even if it doesn't give any beneficial effect, Kon-chan dropped a huge crate, which quickly unravel itself into a turret. She set the target to Barbara. The turret immediately fired at her.
Warg being the one who had experienced the dizziness, is late to the action. He dodged to the side, but Barbara's attack managed to leave a gash on his arm, drawing arc of blood.
"GH!?" Pain, pain pain pain... it's been a while, but he's not going to falter! Warg grinned and wagged his clawed finger at Barbara. His target? Obviously for her to attack him, not Kon-chan. A mark appeared on his chest, which signifies his skill activating. If they attacked Kon-chan even after his challenge, he'll sure to give them some surprise.
Kon-chan used Assassin's Creed passive! 30% increase in speed! Kon-chan used ADST (Anti-Digital Support Turret)!: Cannot be used with Aerial Mine+. Kon-chan deploys a turret. Once per tun, the turret will fire one suppression round at opponents (Two max) and if hit will damage them moderately and lowers their defense by 10% (stacks per hit). Three turns duration, the defense lowered works until fourth turn, four turns cooldown.
Warg uses Forced Assault: Warg can pick up to two targets and issue a challenge to them. Should any of them rejects his challenge and attacks Kon-chan, he can strike them with improved, but nonchargable Pyroblaster. Two turns cooldown.

"We're NOT!" Bu yelled right back at Barbara as Koharu inputted that series of commands to terminate the system. That? Was the last thing she said before the system practically spat them back out at the entrance to the forest. The dragon felt like crap, yes, but she was slowly regaining her senses while...chaos slowly began to creep its way into this situation at the moment. She was barely able to register the damned fairy's quick movement, only to reveal that Mikemon had been Elecmon this...whole time.
And then, the fairy finally attacked! SHIT. While Fuu received the alert that they were in combat (something which prompted the Dorumon to immediately make a break for their location), Bu snarled as she got moving to try her damndest to avoid the spears being thrown at them.
So, the Ryudamon needed to reveal her trump card a bit early for her liking. Earth coated her form as sparks ran along it, before the Ryudamon was replaced by a mass of fractal data that quickly elongated and shifted into a quadrupedal and sinuous lizard. Ginryumon, for the uneducated. Bu was not one to announce form names, but she was summarily struck by a spear. A spear, which actually -hurt.-
The Ginryumon snarled as she propelled herself towards Barbara at a rather high speed, using her Boujinha to hopefully slam herself into the unleashed Tinkermon! Bu does her best to dodge and digivolve to Ginryumon, before being struck by one of the thrown spears. Her response is to retaliate with Boujinha.
Boujinha: Ginryumon makes a charge for the enemy, using her armor to take any attacks being thrown at her at half-damage while aiming to slam herself into the enemy. Three turn cooldown.
Cooldowns: Boujinha: 0/3
Meanwhile, Fuu's on her way! ...Probably gonna take her a bit.

With her rotational speed increasing by the second, the spears kept flying from the center of the dome of wind Barbara had created around her. Apparently, they would continue to fly around the stage until the Pirates of the Treasure finished their counterattack, which had started with Kon’s turret. Honestly, the attack had been somewhat effective! Although the fairy did not stop spinning –or laughing in a very disturbing way-, the projectiles shot by the soldier seemed to be reaching her, hopefully causing some damage. Different results were to be expected from Bu’s body slam. First of all, the swirling wind would make it hard for the dragon to reach the blonde pirate. While it was true her armor made her able to somewhat withstand the damage of the lances being thrown her way, the effort was definitely not worth it, considering the number of attacks she had to receive to actually get to Barbara. What was worse? The slam not only failed to stop the Tinkermon from dancing… Bu would be able to notice it had no effect on her! No damage at all. Now what? Well, now Barbara had stopped dancing, only for a second or two. The cessation of movement was also accompanied by her frenetic laugh to stop for a moment too. “I’m sorry.” She apologized, that perturbed grin still in her face. “All of this chaos… I can actually feel it, Kuru. It’s going through my body and feeding my insanity, you know?” Again, she stiffed a laugh, trying to contain herself. “It’s just that… you two thinking you could mock a Treasure Hunter… For such a mistake... you must pay…” Her right arm over the floor and one leg stretched to her right, she opened her eyes widely with a malicious grin, her eyes shifting between each member of the crew while she spoke. “… With your life!” In the blink of an eye, the pirate issued another burst of quick movements. First, she lifted her left arm, aiming towards Warg. A burst of electricity flying at an enormous speed was shot straight against the giant dragon. The blast had a radius of, at least, 15 feet. Considering the speed it traveled with, it was not, by any means, easy to dodge. “That idiot.” Although it would normally be easy to miss, the silence of the forest would let the crew hear Zami’s voice, while she was still sitting on that tree's branch. Did Barbara not have any technique that did not affect a wide area around her target? But Barbara was far from over. In another move that could be easily missed by just blinking, she was jutted towards Bu, jolting herself from the ground by using her leg, which was covered in electricity now, to dash towards the dragon. As soon as she reached her target, Barbara floated in the air to launch a brutal kick covered in bolts, which was directed downwards and attempted to stamp Bu into the ground. By now, the crew would probably notice this battle was about surviving the hurricane that Barbara was. But what was the best strategy to accomplish just that? Combat log:
-Barbara takes reduced damage from Kon's ADST -Thanks to Chaos twister, Barbara takes zero damage from Bu's Boujinha. -Barbara damaged both Bu and Warg last turn, therefore Kuru activates -Barbara uses Chaos Blast -Barbara uses Frenzy Kick (powered by Kuru!)
Kuru! [Passive ability]: Barbara can use two active abilities at the first turn of any battle or each time she dealt damage to two or more opponents with the same technique last turn.
Chaos Blast: From her hand, Barbara shoots a massive electric beam straight towards the opponent. The unleashed electricity moves fast and represents a real challenge to dodge. 2 turns cooldown.
Frenzy Kick: Barbara electrifies her leg and uses it to be jolted towards an opponent. She unleashes a brutal kick. If the enemy has contact with any bolt of electricity coming from Barbara's leg, they cannot move next turn (they can use abilities). If Kuru! activated on the same turn Frenzy Kick was used, this technique does twice as much damage. Three turns cooldown.
Cooldowns: Chaos Twister: 0/1 Spear Massacre: 0/2 Chaos Blast: 0/2 Frenzy Kick: 0/3

Hou what's that? She took his challenge? Good. Warg gritted his teeth and braced for damage. The smile never left his face. Why should he even risk to dodge when he know that he can't dodge it anyway? The attack hits him straight on... it hurts, it really is hurts... but risk of fast hitting attack is that it's not as damaging compared to attack of same power but less hard hitting... He uses the impact from the attack to position himself slightly closer to Bu.
By the way, Kon-chan is close. Of course she's going to move in to attack. with her being THAT close, she knows what the result would be. The moment the attack zaps through her, Warg's crest glows bright. The dragon shot out empowered Pyroblaster. Not stopping just there, Warg actually used his Limiter Release to make it EVEN MORE PAINFUL. Kon-chan followed soon after, knife drawn. For the moment, with the zap still coursing through her body, she need a bit more time to stabilize.
Warg meanwhile is ready with another of his move. "TAKE COVER!!" he roared to the other dragon, hopefully Bu got the idea and hide behind him rather than attacking Barbara for the moment. Warg spreads a barrier-like thin veil... It's purple in color. Should the attack hits him while he's like that, Barbara would find out that... Virus has nastily spreads inside her body. The barrier was a ruse, it doesn't protect him! it's a debuff!
...But it's not time to celebrate. With Warg takes most brunt of attack sent by Barbara, Kon-chan activated their link to transfer some of his damage to her own, and aimed a stab toward Barbara's flank with her knife. To make matter worse, the turrets immediately activated afterward, see if that give her some damage!
Actions: Warg takes damage from Chaos Blast! Kon-chan takes damage from Chaos Blast!
Warg's Forced Assault activates, empowered Pyroblaster counter! Warg in addition used his passive, Limiter Release to increase it's damage! Limiter Release: Toggleable, three turns cooldown between activation. Warg can increase damage of his attack as if they're one cooldown higher.
Warg used Dirty Trick to pretend that he's covering for Bu! Warg either imbue an ally's shield with virus, or create a faux shield himself. This faux shield cannot protect him from damage, nope. This tricky move is instead a trap that would inflict virus to an opponent if they physically attack it. Drops their defense by 50% and their strength by 25% for three turns. Three turns cooldown. The virus only lingers for one turn before vanishing. If Barbara's attack hit: Warg takes damage!
if Barbara's Frenzy Kick hit Warg: Kon-chan activated shared passive Linked Core (RAM Upgrade Twin Giga) Kon-chan and Warg can distribute their status effects and damage between each other as they please. Between activation this passive have three turns cooldown, and both must be at most five meters away from one another. (distribute Barbara's last attack damage to her instead by 50%)
Kon-chan uses Assassination Stab to hit Barbara's flank! Kon-chan stabs the opponent, dealing moderate damage and moderate bleeding damage for three turns. Unless healed, the bleeding damage stays. If the enemy is mineral type, or something unbleeding, such as machines that doesn't work with fuels, the bleeding damage is negated. Two turns cooldown.
Kon-chan's Turret attacked for the second time!
Cooldown: Warg: Linked Core: 0/3 Limiter Release: 0/3 Forced Assault: 0/2
Kon-chan: Linked Core: 0/3 Assassin's Creed: 1/3

So what did a brazen charge into a spinning fairy yield to the Ginryumon? Well, it yielded nothing apart from putting her in range to receive an honestly devastating counterattack that WOULD have hit...If it weren't for Warg coming to her rescue. The dragon would leap behind the cover provided by Warg being...well, a BlackGrowlmon X. Seriously, those guys were huge. "We'll just have to pay with yours instead!" the Ginryumon uttered.
That was how she was able to avoid the rather savage kick that Barbara threw her way. Of course, simply taking cover meant she couldn't really attack for the moment, which was more than a little inconvenient for her. As well as frustrating.
And where the hell was Fuu?! So, after taking some damage last round, Bu's entirely on the defensive. She makes use of her newt-like form as Ginryumon to narrowly avoid Frenzy Kick. She does not attack, however, taking cover behind Warg. For a ploy.
Cooldowns: Boujinha: 1/3
