The course of action was rather obvious for Talia and Carlos at the moment. To sum up, the ISR at Re-Re Island had received a stress signal coming from a device which technology had been associated with a certain piece of antiquity. An item that had allegedly come from Astrivia, according to what that Treasure Hunter had said over seven hundred years ago. Considering how it was almost obvious the institute had willingly covered the true meaning of that message and how they had data gathered about that mysterious sphere, it didn’t take much thinking to just know the ISR was the place to be right now. If there existed any clue that could lead them to Astrivia, it had to be there. Sadly, like many islands inside the Southern Tropics, the piece of land had an invisible force field that hampered the use of any kind of portals. On top of that, the Digimon Navy had issued a press statement where no digimon could fly near Re-Re island without a permit. Considering the Trailmons going there had also suspended all of their trips, this left Talia, Carlos, and their partners, with a single option: using a ship to get there. “I’m sorry, miss. Neither of our boats is going to or from Re-Re Island right now. The navy is applying very strict security policies and our company is not interested in going through those at the moment.” A fairly tall digimon that looked like a giant chocolate bear shook his head at the girl’s request. With that, their last hope seemed to have vanished. Or had it? While the group walked back through the docks of Whitewater City, a voice addressed them. “You seem to be very interested in getting into a boat.” It sounded like the voice of a female old lady. A quick glance would reveal the creature was a digimon around Dio’s height, although it was probably one they had never seen. Its more relevant feature was a pair of huge glasses and a straw hat. Her body seemed to be covered by a green sweater and her hair showed a bright, silver color. “If you’re walking away with such long faces, that must mean you wish to get to Re-Re Island.” The seemingly female digimon scoffed. Showing what could only be described as a smile plagued with smugness, the creature raised her arms, a pair of green, wrinkled old palms facing up. “You can’t get there through the air or by teleporting. There are also no trains or ships going into the island.” One of those hands extended to fix her glasses, sliding them up a bit. She lowered her tone of voice to utter her next words. “Well, except for one ship.” She added. Had this been enough to raise the group’s interest? Hopefully, it had.
OOC: Kayo! Welcome to your plot, Dio's Devils.
This is not, by any means, an static plot. Everything is going to be constantly changing according to the decisions you make! Although for plot convenience and in order to give you a little push I have established a first objective for your crew (getting to Re-Re Island, in this case) all of your actions and decisions will determine how the plot moves on and whether that objective changes or not. Alliances, friendships and gruesome battles: in Set Sail for Astrivia your objectives and the roads you take to achieve those objectives will change according to how YOU want it and the decisions YOU make.
So enjoy the ride! ~
With love, Erika.

News of the mysterious message spread like wildfire all over the place, so much so they reached the curious ears of a usually very uninformed impmon. Said digimon named Dio was quick to talk about (read: pester endlessly) said message to his tamer about the possible meaning. Said tamer by the name of Carlos would then send that message to the closest person in his life, the tech savvie Talia Brandt in an attempt to shed some light into it. Or at least make Dio shut up about it.
How had Talia managed to crack the code so quickly? Hell if he knew, he simply chalked it up to "some hacker trick" and left it at that, not really all that curious on the specifics anyways. The man wasn't big on puzzles, he was more about practical solutions. Point was the message sent them into an information search that led them to the same conclusion some other parties had apparently reached: a possible lead to an ancient mystery in an island, treasure, and more importantly: adventure.
An adventure Carlos was more than happy to take part in, specially if it meant healing the bond with his significant other he had neglected as of late. As such he took a leave from his "Research Club Business" and after packing up supplies for the trip both him, his partner,Talia and company met up in the city of Whitewater, were they would then try to find a ship that could take them there. This proved to be...rather harder than what he anticipated: they couldn't find a single boat that would take them there for some reason.
"Things can never be that easy, can they?" He'd sigh as he walked down the piers of the beachside city alongside the group, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance, before turning to face Talia and the rest. "Anyone got any ideas as to how else we could get there?"
"Duh, did you forget me and the fleabag can digivolve into forms that can fly? Carrying you all there should be easy as cake." Dio was the first to reply, a smug grin in his face and an equally smug waggle of his finger. Carlos could only roll his eyes.
"I didn't forget. Did you forget about the part of not being allowed to fly there without a permit? I'm not breaking the law over some sight seeing and maybe the possibility of a treasure."
Truly, their only way into the island was with a boat. Things seemed to have reached a standstill...until they heard the voice of an old digimon speaking directly to them. Were it not for the old tone of the voice and the "old lady-esque" look of the digimon Carlos would have expected her to try and sell them a counterfeit watch, yet what they seemed to be alluding to was a lot more interesting than that.
While the somewhat vague words from the digimon were more than enough to catch the group's attention, Dio wasn't particularly amused or entertained by the mysterious vibe the green digimon was trying to sell. He wanted to get to that island as soon as possible, and every second wasted was a second where other possible competitors got closer to the island before them. "Tch, out with it already, patience is not one of the Dark Lord's many virtues! Can you get us a ship or not?"
"Dio, what did I tell you about politeness and strangers?" The man quickly reprimanded in a tone more fitting of an older sibling scolding a younger, brattier brother, before turning to old digimon. "Alright ma'am, I'll bite. What are you selling us and how much it will cost us?"

“Hardly. If I had to describe it, I’d say that this place functions like a gacha subscription box service - gives you useless things you don’t want and rarely ever what you need.” After a ton of pride swallowing later Talia reluctantly agreed to go on this adventure with her boyfriend content that it would be just the two of them and their partners spending time alone and for once no one could take him away from her - no band managers, no science nerds, no fangirls, no nothing! “I suppose could hack a boat if they were electronic buuuut I don’t think speedboats have made it to this place just yet.” It did sound like a worthy business venture though come to think of it.... “Flying over the open ocean with no backup or supplies isn’t safe anyway - what if you got weak and reverted and we all plummeted into the sea? Then what would we do?” Typical Tohru always brutally practical enough to correct the egotistical dark lord whenever she thought he was wrong. “Hey I could pull that off...I’d just need a break occasionally.” Simba’s newfound bravery as of recently made him always eager to prove his big sister’s theories wrong thought it always seemed she was a step ahead with her knowledge. “Thats why its called OPEN - there’s no place for you to sit.” Welp. “I agree, it’s not worth getting the attention of all these new Respect my Authoritah esque groups that keep popping up.” She already did enough of that with Bad Request did she not? “But don’t go overcharging us either because I know a scam when I see one.” The digimon looked a bit uniquely peculiar unlike any Talia had seen which was why she was a bit suspicious but as Carlos said, if this was their opportunity then no reason not to take it. That and in movies taking things from sketchy old disguised looking creatures never ended well right? “You too Talia or she might not give it to us at all!” Simba for once was quiet not really understanding these grown up matters instead choosing to enjoy the salty sea air and wonder what being on a ship would be like and what they would see. Better yet, would the treasure involve pork cutlets? Tch, sure Tohru, say that when the ship they got was full of holes or rigged or something. Granted she didn’t exactly know that the rabbit was generally feeling the same weird vibes she was, she was just more tact about it than her human was - someone had to be right? In a way the three of them made up their own sort of properly balanced triad with Talia’s smarts, Tohru’s practicality and Simba’s kindness all filling the gaps in each of them. It was a bondship that maybe, just maybe one day Carlos and Dio could turn into a quintet. “Just one?”

The elder seemed to take her own share of time to stare at Dio after hearing his words. She let go an audible ‘Ummm…’ while she seemed to stroke her chin, although it was a bit hard to tell due to her straw hat covering most of her face. “The fire burning within the heart of the young.” She said, staring at the Impmon. “I can tell both your heart and your body has gone through an amount of pain than most digimon couldn’t even imagine. Pain caused by someone who made you who you are today."Then her gaze seemed to drift towards Talia. “Your heart has been aching too, I can tell. Someone you loved… hurt you.” Was there any way of telling if what this old digimon was saying had any truth to it? Probably only each of them would know, individually. “In fact, it is just one ship.” She managed, going back to the topic that was of interest for the whole group. “Taking that into account, you should head to the place where this ship is located as soon as possible. You won’t be able to go without this.” She handled a white envelope to the group, it seemed as if it contained a letter, almost like something you would find in the mail. A golden pin could be found sticking to its front side and the words ‘The Racketing’ were written in digimoji. Below that title, an address could be read. Anyone who had a bit of knowledge of Whitewater could tell it led to a place on the higher grounds of the city, very close to Caritas and all of those other wealthy nightclubs. Even if the address was written at the envelope, it was obvious this was not the main goal of this item. It seemed more like an invitation letter, something that would get you inside a place if handed at the entrance. “That… is your ticket to get on a boat. It won’t be that easy, but I can promise it will be worth your time.” The elder cleared her throat, fiddling with her sweater, apparently looking for something else. Then, she took out what seemed to be a small, crystal ball. It was shiny, seethrough and fit perfectly in a human’s hands. “If things get out of hand, I recommend you use that. Please don’t use it unless the situation really calls for it. You’ll thank me then.” Said she, walking away from the squad, seemingly not being interested in any payment or anything in exchange for her actions. “The ship is sailing around 4 o’ clock today. If you don’t manage to get on board, you might not get another chance.” She raised her gaze, to look at an old clock hanging at a wall right behind her. It showed it was around two o’ clock right now, so they probably should get going.
If they did, they would find themselves in front of what seemed to be a medieval castle with the sea right behind it. The whole thing was white, with very elegant golden designs painted all over the frontal layout. It seemed like a place only very wealthy digimon could go to. The words ‘The Racketing’ could be read right at a sign hanging above a huge wooden door. The design of these letters was exactly the same than the one engraved on their envelope. Right in front of the half-open door, a small, pink digimon with what seemed to be a piece of bread on his head as a hat was standing. A close look would reveal it was an Ebi Burgamon. The only slight difference he presented from the rest of his species was the fact that he was wearing a cute tuxedo. “Hi there, urga.” He bowed, greeting the group. His voice was sweet and child-like. “Welcome to The Racketing, the best restaurant around Whitewater, pouring our soul and heart into our food for more than thirty years now.” He recited as if it was some type of slogan. “Unfortunately, we are not open right now, urga, as we are heading to a very important event soon, urga. But if you want to make a reservation, you can go ahead and we will set it for the closest date available.” He added. “Unless… you have other reason for being here, urga?”Maybe it was the time to hand something to the little guy. Inventory: -White envelope. [Crucial item] [Waiting...] -Crystal ball. [Crucial item] [Waiting...]
OOC: Inventory: The inventory shows what interesting or important items any member of the crew has at any time. Right next to the name of the item, you will find what type of item it is and who in the crew has it. If it hasn't been decided yet who took the item after being handed to the crew, the words 'waiting...' will appear. If an item is showed in the inventory, it means you can take your time to look at it closely or use it in any kind of situation. The fact that an item is in your inventory probably means you're going to need it. So don't forget to check the crew's inventory every time you have to make a decision or don't know what to do. You might have the item you need right there!

While Dio actually expected answers from the old digimon after his rather rude approach, he certainly didn't expect the type of answer she had in store for him. Apparently there was more to her than met the eye to get such a...disturbingly good read on him. It was vague enough for her to be referring to quite a number of happenins in his life, but it was still nothing short of odd.
"Tch, why you..." It was clear as day the digimon had struck a sensitive vein on the Impmon, her words holding far more truth than what she probably realized. But he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of acknowledging it, so he simply settled for huffing as he turned his head in the opposite direction, fuming.
Carlos didn't fare much better, his face glowing a slight tinge of red as the old mon mentioned someone dear to Talia having hurt her. Wheter that was how it actually happened or not, he agreed such a definition probably fit him like a glove right now. Luckily for them both she dropped that subject just as quickly as she brought it up, now going back to what they were actually after: a ship.
She was quick and to the point, letting them know what they had to do and where if they wanted to get their hands on a boat. How did she know all of this or why she had all the things they would need for it were just a few of the questions on the man's head as he received both the letter and the crystal ball from the digimon, but they were far from the most pressing questions.
"T-thanks a bunch but...why give us all of this?" There was that saying about looking a gift horse in the mouth sure, but he couldn't help but think this was...an awful lot of gifts coming from a complete stranger. Whatever the case there wasn't exactly that much time left to worry about that, so he soon began making his way towards the place, the others hopefully not too far behind.
The restaurant they soon arrived at reminded Dio of a similarly fancy place he had spent his Valentine's date at, though this one wasn't nearly as filled with customers and patrons as the other one. Though if the small burger like digimon's words were to be trusted, that was probably because the place wasn't even open to begin with. Seemed about right, who opened a restaurant before 5 PM?
That said, it seemed as if the Burgamon was expecting something other than regular clients, at least judging by his choice of words. Was this who they were supposed to hand out their letter to?
"Actually we aren't here just for food. Does this mean anything to you?" He asked the Burgamon, taking out the envelope out of his pocket and carefully handing it over to the tuxedo wearing digimon.

Irked by the strange person saying her private business outloud Talia couldn’t help but growl in frustration. “We’re here for a ship, not psychic readings but thank you anyway.” It made her so grumpy in fact that as they walked toward the restaurant, the girl couldn’t help but lace her fingers into his larger ones giving a gentle squeeze as she did. “You know what she said means nothing right? Stupid crazy old hag…” People who did that were just looking to take advantage of people’s curiosity to make extra money for themselves. “My feelings are my feelings but it...doesn’t mean I haven’t forgiven you too.” Whoever said hurt and forgiveness were an exclusive paradox after all? “Carlos...I...I” She had so much she wanted to say and yet couldn’t seem to place together the right phrases. “Mehhh.” Sometimes this kind of thing could be so much easier if she were a mute.
Being told to hand over the envelope in the restaurant was giving Tohru a sketchy sort of ‘bring this bag to the bus station’ mobster vibe but the risk of going into dangerous territory was the only way they’d get what they needed. ‘We’ll be fine anyway, there’s three of us set to evolve in a heartbeat so what’s the worry?’ She watched with an utmost curiosity as her human held the hand of the male, surprised if anything (and possibly a smidge proud) to see her being so open and interactive with a fellow human for the first time in a while. “It’s nice to see them making up but I’ll never understand human intimacy rituals.”
About twenty percent of that vocabulary processed in the dragons mind and his mammalian instincts lead him to one conclusion. “Does that mean they’re going to make children?” At that question his sister wasn’t sure to be embarrassed or start laughing or both at her brothers nonchalant innocence. “Dio, how do humans make children? Sis won’t tell me!” A while ago a vague answer would have flown over his head but now that was slowly but surely growing up, the dragon had a high aversion to being left of knowledge - he wanted the grown ups to involve him too!
The castle like building was much fancier than Talia expected and in fact reminded somewhat of Cinderellas palace at disney world. “Huh, and to think I was expecting a rundown dirty looking shack.”

At first, the Ebi Burgamon just tilted his head, staring at the envelope. “Urga…?” This was the same envelope they had sent not long ago, looking for… …! Could it be…!? The little digimon’s eyes widened, he took the envelope and opened it quickly. If the crew was aiming for the item to have any type of effect over the little digimon in a suit, it had worked. After reading a letter inside the envelope, he leered back at each of the five members of the crew in front of him. His eyes went through Talia, Carlos, Dio, Simba, and, finally… “I-It must be her!” Said the Burgamon with intensity. Then, he took both of his small hands to his mouth to raise his voice. “The princess is here, urga!”A couple of seconds went by and, out of the half-opened door, a whole army of Ebi Burgamon started coming out! They were at least twenty. Many of them had the same tuxedo the one at the door showed, while others had a yellow flower above the bread at their head and a cute dress, indicating they were female Ebi Burgamon. Each of these digimon walked behind the group, pushing them to move forward and enter the castle. The establishment was as huge and pretty as it looked on the outside. Beautiful, well-decorated walls with paintings and antiquities everywhere, huge staircases and many doors that seemed to lead to different rooms in the palace. All of the Ebi Burgamon walking along them seemed especially interested in Tohru. And, although all of them looked similar, each of them seemed to fulfill a certain role. “The princess is here, secure the perimeter, urga.” A couple of Ebi Burgamon with sunglasses spoke through radios as if they were some kind of bodyguards or belonged to a security team. A group of female Ebi Burgamons swirled around Tohru, putting flowers on her head and putting dresses between her and their sight, just to imagine how she would look on each of them. “You are adorable; I am sure we can make you look absolutely stunning for tonight!”Some of the Ebi Burgamon had cameras and just took photos of the whole development. “The princess is a Lopmon that also looks like a dragon, the media is going to love her!”One of the Ebi Burgamon had a tablet and seemed to be following the instructions of a list. “Okay princess, you have a very busy schedule coming. First, we need you to meet the king, then make-up and dressing, then going for lunch, then…” He just kept talking and talking to Tohru while all of the Burgamon, along with the crew moved up the stairs. It was likely none of them understood what was going on but, at the same time, it was likely they couldn’t stop it. After all, neither of the digimon seemed to want to hurt Tohru or any of them. Except for… Once they had gone up the stairs and walked through a hall that seemed to lead them wherever this swarm of cute, well-dressed digimon wanted to take them, they would hear a voice, running through one of the aisles. “DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.”Moving fast like a bullet, being propelled forward, a blue digimon went by in front of the crew and smashed a fist against one of the walls, cracking it in the process. It was clear he was actually aiming to scare off Talia, Carlos, and their digimon. The group of female Ebi Burgamon squealed, running away scared, while two of the bodyguards placed themselves in front of the prince- I mean, Tohru. Immediately, they spoke through their radios again. “Price Kero is here, we need backup now, urga!”Two more bodyguards jumped at the Dokamon, trying to stop him. In a swift movement, the digimon smashed his iron fist at one and threw another out of the way as if it was a ragdoll. “Hey!” He pointed at the crew, his green eyes scanning each of the members. “Get the hell out of here right n...!“ He interrupted himself, right when his eyes found the Lopmon. He started stuttering and wasn’t able to finish his sentence. His eyes widened and a slight blush appeared around his face. One thing was for sure: Things had gotten real crazy real fast. Tohru was suddenly a princess and they were getting attacked! What would be the group’s answer to this ambush? Inventory: -White envelope. [Crucial item] [REMOVED] -Crystal ball. [Crucial item] [Carlos]

"I know, I know." He reassured Talia with a smile, squeezing her hand in response, though he still gave a sigh. "Doesn't mean I've stopped feeling shitty about it though, I just...need some time to get over myself, I guess." Even if she had already forgiven him, it didn't change the fact he had hurt her to begin with, and that was enough to tear the man up from the inside with guilt, even now. Hopefully he'd be able to forgive himself as well eventually.
"Heh, it's alright, I know what you meant." He said with a teasing smile, not one hundred percent sure what she was going to say, but the context was more than enough for him to piece it together.
Dio meanwhile didn't seem all that happy about their tamers' reuniting like this once again. Not so much because he was against it or anything, he just simply didn't care much for their public demonstrations of love.
"Blegh, what is there to get? Our tamers are just a bunch of sickeningly sweet saps, I feel like I'm getting cavities just by looking at them." He said in response to Tohru, shaking his head in dissaproval all the while. Though Simba's question completely blindsided him, the impmon looking back at him and blinking in silence for a good while, as if the gears on his head were stuck trying to simply process the question. "H-huh? And how am I supposed to know? Do I look like a human expert to you or something? Sides I'm sure it's probably real gross."
He wasn't lying just to get off explaining either, he genuenly never had thought about it, nor was he interested in finding out. Human biology was weird enough already, he didn't need any nasty details.
What followed right after Carlos handed the envelope was...a bit of a chaotic rush to be blunt. He wasn't quite sure why or how, but after barely a couple seconds they were all being pushed along inside the castle by a large crowd of digimon, who took Tohru to the side claiming she was a...princess? Honestly it was too much for the man to even properly process what was being said or done, and he barely put up any kind of resistance as he was pushed along. Though after a good minute or so of chaos he finally got his bearings, or at least enough so he could finally speak again.
"Wait, time out! Can someone, anyone please tell me what is even going on anymore?!"
Funnily enough, Dio didn't seem to question Tohru being reffered to as a princess, but rather he really took offense that he wasn't getting any special treatment. After all he was the Dark Lord!
"Hey! I'm the Dark Lord, I should be the one getting all the nice treatment, not her!" He'd angrily proclaim, trying to make himself heard over the overwhelming crowd of Burgamons. At any rate this parade of sort would come to an abrupt stop, as suddenly a Dokamon would burst into the picture, smashing a wall in front of the crew and punching away the Burgamons trying to contain him.
If his intention was to scare the five of them off, he wasn't exactly succesful. At least, not with Dio, who was quick to take a single step forward as if to shield the humans, eyes practically glowing with intensity and defiance.
"And what's your problem, Big Hands? That how you treat your guests?!" He was clearly not amused by any of the insane happenings so far, but being threatened out of nowhere by a Dokamon, royalty or not, was the straw that broke the camel's back.

“Works for me.” Was all Talia said as she laid her head against the tall mans shoulder while they walked, still grasping his hand. “Heheh, besides you know me, I’m good at explaining how to get a virus off your laptop, but not when it comes to feelings.” It was she couldn’t help but sneak a kiss to his cheek as they went along their business. “Is it okay if I kiss your tamer, Dio? I promise you can have him back when I’m done!” Poor imp, today was apparently the day for people to discuss matters of intimacy with him. “Nothing I guess. Frankly I’m just glad to see Talia is happen again - she won’t admit it, but I think she’s been really missing Carlos all this time. And who knows, it might even help with…” She’d trailed off, wondering how to explain it. “You know, the condition....” Unfortunately Simba wasn’t quite giving up yet. “But you and Tohru know tons of grown up stuff that I don’t! Are they born in eggs like digimon are?” The ebi burgamon moved so quickly that Tohru hardly had any time to process what was going on before dresses and flowers were being shoved in her face while the creatures called her princess which was utterly baffling and somewhat embarrassing for a lopmon of her maturity. “I do apologize but I believe you have the wrong - HEY, personal space here!” The way the security dressed ones were closing was making her highly uncomfortable to the point where she started to search for Talia and Simba, the former going into protective mode as she ran towards the gathering and possibly unintentionally kicking a few of the ebi burgamon out of the way thanks to her adrenaline speed. “Tohru! C-carlos I have to get her back its-” She would reach out to scoop up the rabbit in her arms safe from separation and whether unsuccessful or successful, pleading tears would well up in her lavender eyes as she begged. “Please, I need her, I -”It was interrupted by a very loud bang followed by the appearance of a dokamon and the little burger people running everywhere in mayhem and when Talia tried to keep the rabbit close it was no use as she ignored the security guards, in fact jumping over them like it was nobody’s business. “I don’t know who you think you are but you better leave these guys alone - sure they’re smothering but they didn’t do anything wrong and-” Amidst the chaos, her brother had snuck up behind the terrorizer with every intent to sink his teeth into his tail, grabbing on tight in an attempt to neutralize him if the action worked. “Don’t worry, he’s not going anywhere with my jaws of steel!” Sorry prince, but the princess has a fire breathing tailing biting protective brother, oh what’s a pretty boy to do? Although all of the Ebi Burgamon seemed extremely interested in Tohru, Talia wouldn’t find too much trouble getting back to her bunny. They weren’t deliberately trying to get her away from her group, and that much was clear. Right now, chaos had broken loose inside of The Racketing, while Kero was trying to get them off the castle. The Ebi Burgamon with cameras kept taking pictures of everything that was happening, even when the Dokamon kept sending more of those security guards flying across the place. “Is that human protecting the princess too!?”“It must be her mother, urga.”“T-The queen of their kingdom!?” More pictures ensued, flashes popping everywhere. After he got rid of a couple more security guards, Kero turned towards Dio. “You are NOT my guests. I don’t want any of you in here!” The prince took a fighting stance. “So it’s up to you. Are you going to leave this place right now or do I have to- OUCH!!”His eyes widening, the Dokamon turned towards the Huckmon that had his jaws on his tail. “Did you just… bit me!?” What was wrong with these people? The Dokamon didn’t seem to be filling too much pain from that, for some reason. However, it is understandable having a dragon biting your tail must not be a comfortable sensation. “L-Let go!” Kero started wiggling his tail, from one side to the other, thrashing to get Simba off him. Whatever sensation of fear he tried to incite on the group with his original approach had definitely been lost and the whole thing was just… a bit funny, right now. “ENOUGH!” The Dokamon yelled. “Get out of this palace right no-““KERO!” Without them noticing, a taller figure had appeared behind the prince, swinging a frying pan at him and sending him jutted against a wall. Why was everyone fighting between themselves in this place? "Y-Your majesty!” The Burgamons gasped. Kero stood up, rubbing his head after receiving that shot. “O-Ouch…” He pointed his iron finger at the digimon who had struck him. “Why did you do that, old man!?”“You can’t treat our guests like that, fool!” The digimon had an elegant, flamboyant voice. With his left hand, he frolicked with his mustache, while he held his frying pan in the other. He slowly studied the group of digimon around the Ebi Burgamon. “Although I don’t understand why we have any guests, to begin with. I thought we were closed for the day.”One of the Ebi Burgamon rushed towards the king, starting to whisper something at his ear. “Huh… Okay. Yes, yes. I see.” He muttered while he listened to what the servant was saying. His voice acquired a different ring to it when he heard the end of the story. Color him completely shocked. “T-They are…!?”The Cookmon cleared his throat, trying to recover the regular sound of his voice. “It’s a pleasure to have all of you in The Racketing. Please, follow me.”“B-But, old man…!”“You will stay here, Kero. And you will behave.” It was almost as if a fire was burning in his eyes when he issued these words. Enough fire to keep Kero’s mouth shut. He probably didn't want to take another of those hits with a frying pan. “I will take care from here, Ebi Burgamons. You can dress the princess for the occasion later on. Let’s try to avoid overwhelming her.” The King addressed all of the servants in the room, even those security guards that had been thrown around. If the group decided to follow the Cookmon, they would go through the hall until they reached a set of massive doors, entering a beautifully decorated room, with a throne by the end of it. Two Ebi Burgamon stood next to it, and the king just stood in front of the chair to talk to the group. “Please forgive my son’s behavior. It’s truly a pleasure to have you here today.” He nodded, his eyes going through all of the human and digimon, stopping at Tohru. “I must say your princess is truly beautiful. I am sure she and Kero will be a great couple for tonight’s party.” He declared. “Our ship will be sailing with all of you to Re-Re Island in a couple of hours, so I understand you must get ready.” Did he just say Re-Re Island? THE Re-Re Island they had been trying to reach? “However, if you have any questions before departing, I think this is the right time to ask those. Although I believe everything has been explained well enough in that letter I sent you.”A very interesting decision was ahead of the crew right now. Apparently, people at The Racketing believed they were someone else and were about to take them to Re-Re Island. Should they keep quiet and play along to reach their objective and look for answers later, or should they explain the situation and ask those obvious questions, although it might mean not getting to the island?

While there was very little Carlos understood about the current situation, one thing was abundantly clear right away: keeping Tohru away from Talia was a recipe for disaster. Or at least, getting his significant other incredibly upset. Whatever the case he wanted to avoid either one of those outcomes as fast as possible, so did his best to help the pale girl get closer to the Lopmon, likely pushing some Burgamons out of the way. Not that they were putting up much resistance, it didn't seem like they were actively trying to keep them separate.
As for Dio? He did nothing but scoff at the Dokamon's attempts at threatening him. Scoffs that soon turned into rather obnoxious snickering and laughter as Simba lodged his jaws on his tail and would not let go. Not the most dignified of situations indeed.
"Bweheheh, ah Simba, you rascal you..." He'd wheeze in between laughs, trying to keep his composure, though this proved impossible to do...at least until a figured came practically out of nowhere and sent the Dokamon flying against the nearest wall via frying pan. That was more than enough to immediatelly silence Dio's laughter and freeze his tamer in place, face riddled with surprise.
As if one member of royalty wasn't enough, it would appear the Dokamon Prince's father was also here now! As if this day couldn't get any weirder. And weirder it got, as it didn't take long for the King to be informed that the group were indeed guests in their palace. "Fair enough," Carlos thought to himself, "but what's this whole princess nonsense?" After the king dispatched the burgamon and his son away, he gave the five of them a far more formal greeting. Perhaps still shocked by the sudden events, or simply a bit unsure on how to proceed when being faced with a king, Carlos simply stood in complete silence, nodding every so often at the Cookmon's words. It was when the mention of a ship sailing for the fabled Re-Re Island (as well as a party later that night) came up that a metaphorical light bulb lit up inside the man's head.
It was then that Carlos finally put two and two together. Clearly that letter (whether forged or simply stolen) wasn't so much a simple invitation, but somethign that apparently was good enough to convince everyone that Tohru was a princess, and the rest of them either their entourage or guardians. Without a second's hesitation (and perhaps a bit inspired by the many tales he had read as a kid about capricious kings) he went along with it.
"The honor is all ours, your majesty. While I can't speak for the princess I'm sure she's just as delighted as we are with this warm welcome." He said with a bow, giving a subtle wink to the other four to do the same...as well as somewhat unsubtly pushing Dio's head down with one hand, knowing he wouldn't be so keen to bow to someone else. The imp grumbled a bit, but decided to get a small shot in the most polite way the situation allowed him to. "I do hope your son will be a bit more polite with the Princess once the party is underway."
That aside, Carlos hoped Talia and the others would catch the hint fast enough.

“Well frankly WE don’t want to be here either, and I wouldn’t want my partner to date a tactless jerk like you, Freakazoid jr!” Talia had stomped up to to the angry prince without an ounce of fear ready to put him in his place with her tongue. Sure she was a human who’s power to dent the energy of a digimon equalized to that of a wooden baseball bat but at the same time the whole being gutted experience thing changed her perspective of fear was, and a butthurt raging rookie digimon didn’t compare to that whatsoever. “That’s right, teach him a lesson Simba!” Maybe it was correcting the wrong behavior but Talia couldn’t help but feel like a proud tamer seeing how brave the little dragon was becoming as most of the time he would run and hide in a situation like this!
“I sure did! You messed with the wrong family!” And as the digimon started to thrash around Simba only clamped down harder pushing with stubbornness into every part of his canine that was hooking itself into the dokamons tail. “Especially my big sister!” His grip was lost when the Cookmon hit the prince which resulted in the dragon managing to get whacked in the face by the metal ball on Kero’s tail sending him flying back stumbling for a second. “OWIE!” Luckily it was minor enough he shook it enough without Talia and Tohru apparently feeling the need to worry.
“Your majesty, if I may,” Talia followed the king with the others being very quiet and polite the whole way despite having the urge to protest pretty much everything he was talking about. That old hag scammed us, I knew it. At least we didn’t sign any contract I guess. As there was no way she letting the rabbit become a mail order bride against her will to some random prince. In fact she wanted to tell them that she wasn’t royalty at all but it seemed like if she did so it would be either A: no ship, or B: they get arrested by the King for treason? Either way they were pretty much screwed. “We’ll agree to all of that. Princess Tohru will be your sons date. On the condition that you let us dress ourselves and also agree to let her brother and myself as her...private guardian that we can intervene if Prince Keros behavior becomes unacceptable.” Giving a look to Carlos that said, I got this. If running Bad Request taught her anything, it was how to negotiate and fish for what the other person wanted.

Although the scene was far from being perfectly clear, the crew had started making some guesses. That mysterious female digimon seemed to have gotten them exactly what she said she would get them: the only ship going to Re-Re Island that was leaving in some hours. However, the consequences of that deal remained to be seen, and questions about how had the old lady gotten that letter that convinced people at The Racketing so easily were still on the air.
However, the group had decided to not ask questions right now, and just play along. A smart move, probably. Risking the chance of getting to the island everyone wanted to reach right now just for the immediate necessity of getting answers was probably not a smart move.
The king seemed pleased at Carlos and Dio’s attitude, seeing how they were willing to make this work. He showed a smile at the pair. “As I said, it is our pleasure to welcome you all here today.” Then, his eyes went to Dio, who actually had a fairly valid point. The king himself couldn’t agree more with it. “Yes, please forgive Kero. He has gone through a lot…” The Cookmon’s voice sounded saddened. “He actually still refuses to go to this party. I wish there was some way to convince him. Up to now, I’ve felt confident we’ll work through it, but the truth is that, without the prince, we can’t go to the party at Re-Re Island.” Apparently, it seemed like their trip there was not completely guaranteed yet.
The king then listened closely to Talia’s words. “That’s marvelous. So Tohru is her name… She is gorgeous. As I said, I think she and Kero will work great as a couple for tonight’s party at Re-Re Island.” He nodded repeatedly. Then, his eyes widened a bit at her request. It wasn’t that he was entirely against that, he just found it a tad surprising, apparently. “W-Well… of course. If you really want that, you can be with Princess Tohru at all times.” He noted. “Actually, considering we are a bit tight in terms of the time we have…” The king clenched a fist and knocked a couple of times on the frying pan he was holding. Immediately, two female Ebi Burgamon entered the room.
“Please take Princess Torhu and miss...” He would wait for the human to complete the sentence with her own name. “… to get dressed.” He ordered. Then, he turned towards Talia again. “I know you said you wanted to dress yourselves, but I hope you don’t mind if we offer you our vast selection of clothes for your choosing. This is a high-class party and we would like to offer you the best. We have a fine-quality selection at your disposal.” He then addressed the Burgamons. “Please let them wear whatever they want. Don’t force them into wearing anything in particular. I’m sure these ladies have a lovely taste.”
The burger-digimon nodded firmly. “Yes, your majesty, urga.” Then, they went quiet, and their eyes drifted towards Simba. “Oh, I’ve been told that’s Princess Tohru’s brother. He and the rest of the group, are completely allowed to stay by the princess' side at all times.” He added. Then, his eyes went to the Huckmon. “However, if you feel you’d be bored seeing girls trying dresses, you can stay here with us.” He explained, referring to Carlos, Dio and himself. “I would like to show the rest of your group something you’ll definitely love.”
Once the girls and (maybe) Simba had left the room, the king would start walking towards the eastern side of the room, heading for another door. “Please, follow me again.” He indicated. “I would like to know your names. After all, you’re basically our saviors, considering the situation we find ourselves in right now.” The Cookmon said, speaking to Carlos, Dio and (maybe) Simba.

All in all, despite the rough start it would seem the group was starting to get somewhere. The king seemed convinced by them and much to Carlos' surprise (and relief) didn't seem terribly upset about them calling out his son's behaviour, if anything he seemed painfully aware of it. His mention of him "having gone through a lot" was enough for Carlos to feel both curious and somewhat concerned, but decided not to press his luck by asking for details, as it seemed as far too much of a personal problem for him to get mixed up with. At least for now.
At the very least, the King seemed like a fairly reasonable autorithy figure for now, so that helped ease some of Carlos' tension. He didn't even seem bothered about Talia wanting to stay close to Tohru at all times, even while they got changed, he was even willing to offer them proper clothes to use for the party! Talk about killing two birds with one stone. Though it seemed the King had something else in mind for the males of the group, something that had really piqued Dio's interest. And while Carlos was not against this, he was somewhat worried about how Talia would do on her own with just Tohru (and Simba should he choose to stay with her.)
In fact he felt a bit guilty having to leave her behind again, seeing how this had all been initially planned as an excuse to spend time together...but hopefully he'd be able to make it up to her later. Carlos got closer to the girl for a moment, and grabbed her gently by the hands for a moment, giving them a soft squeeze as he gave her a reassuring smile.
"Be safe, ok? We won't be long, I'm sure." He whispered, before somewhat hesitantly letting go and returning to his own partner's side.
Once Simba had made up his mind both tamer and digimon would follow after the Cookmon, Carlos listening intently to what he had to said while Dio, while still paying attention, seemed just a bit more interested in looking at their surroundings as they walked down the halls. Since they already knew Tohru's actual name, it was probably pointless to use an alias at this point, so Carlos decided to be honest with the King.
"My name is Carlos Rey, your majesty." He said, straight to the point, if still somewhat unsure how he was supposed to act in front of royalty. Was he supposed to give his full name, or would that be too formal even for the king?
And while he certainly felt a bit flattered, he wasn't sure if the King's words of thanks and encouragement were exactly earned. "Your saviors? I wouldn't go that far..."
As for Dio? His lips simply formed into his usual smug smirk brfore replying, "And I'm the Dark Lord Dio, but just Dio will do your highness. No doubt you have heard of me." Despite his tone being filled with his usual arrogant tone, there was a surprising level of respect in it as well. After all, he was engaging in conversation with a real member of a royal family for a change, even for someone like him it was customary to maintain a minimun level of courtesy.
Somewhat worried such an ominous title would only bring them trouble, somewhat out of habit Carlos will carefully lean a bit closer to the king's ear, and whispered in a hushed tone that was still perfectly audible for the imp. "Don't feel obliged to humor him, his is somewhat of an "honorary" title, really." He wasn't entirely wrong either, considering how Dio wasn't ruling over anything.

Once all had been settled Talia followed the burgamon down a hallway being lead to who knows where. She figured as much that it would be to some kind of closet or dressing room but she was too much of a cynic and had watched too many movies to not hold at least a suspicion that foul play could very well be a possibility. The same went for Tohru, who while not near as cynical as her human, was always ready to protect her whenever she needed to. “Stupid Simba, he knows we’ll be weak without him if something happens.” She kept the thought to herself, as Talia had been the one to suggest he go with the boys to perhaps ‘branch out a little independence’ at her suggestion.
Besides he would be fine under the watch of Dio and Carlos right? Maybe Carlos wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed at times but his imp was strong enough, and it wasn’t like the castle was so big that it would take them forever to get to them if they needed to. Nah, what the woman was most concerned about was if the King was trying to get a wife for his son and had his eyes on Tohru. “I hope we’re not secretly going to a wedding chapel!” She couldn’t help but tease the bunny a little knowing how much this princess thing probably irritated her. “D-don’t even jinx that!” Plus in a way she felt kind of bad for the dokamon after his father had mentioned him going through a hard time. Scooping up the rabbit, Talia gave a pet. “As I’d let you get married like that! Do digimon even have weddings anyway?” They had to have some kind of ceremony right? “Thats for me to know and you to find out!”
