“It’s great to have you on board.”
The king showed a smile to Simba as the dragon decided to go with them. Perhaps running away from the boredom of seeing his sister and Talia get dressed or just interested in what the Cookmon would show.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Carlos, Mr. Dark Lord.” He smirked, walking ahead of the group while they got out of the room through the wooden door and into a long hallway, beautifully decorated, just like the rest of the palace. Then, he chuckled upon listening to Carlos’ words. “Oh, I see. He is someone who likes to dream big, then. That’s my favorite kind of people, actually.” He confessed while they reached the end of the aisle and another door opened. “I was someone who dreamed pretty big myself when I was younger.”
The layout of what was behind that door would differ greatly from what they had seen before. It was a balcony! The sun shone above of them and different birds flew through the sky. From that spot, they could see a giant pond, which seemed to be located behind the castle. This made sense, considering when the crew arrived, they noticed what was behind the building was open sea.
However, it was what lied at this pond what would probably make their eyes glimmer. A sharp, brand new ship. It had perfectly shaped white sails and a very stylish design, almost like a combination between a modern human world ferry and an old pirate ship. It looked extremely clean, almost as if it had never been used. From what they could see, only two things represented a real difference from a regular ship, although they were easy to spot. First, the mast of the ship acquired a circular shape around the middle of its structure. From where they were standing, the white sails combined with the shape of these masts looked like cream-stuffed dessert. Besides, written on both sides, the words ‘The Firing Chiffon' could be read. Apparently, that was the name of the ship.
In all honesty, the vessel looked beautiful from up there. It had a very charming design and it looked ready to sail.
“So, what do you think?” The Cookmon asked, looking at the beautiful masterpiece in front of their eyes. “That is the ship you’ll be using to get to Re-Re Island, where the party is being held.” He said, proudly. “It’s been part of the Racketeering for years, but we haven’t used it much. Besides, we’re always taking care of it and repainting it so it looks this good. I’m sure you’ll be delighted with all of the functionalities you’ll find inside.”
The king cleared his throat before his tone of voice got a lot more serious. “Right now, our restaurant is going through a hard time. As you know, ours is a family of cooks. My mother was an amazing chef, and her father was too.” He had started to tell a very important story. “I was a chef during my prime, but now I’m no longer able to withstand the effort related to such a taxing job. Especially one that entails being the most important restaurant in a tourist paradise like Whitewater City. According to our family tradition, when the king or queen is no longer able to cook at its fullest, he must pass the restaurant to his child. Prince Kero is the inheritor of the legacy of our family. In his blood lies the strength and power to cook the most delicious meals in the whole Southern Tropics!” His tone of voice was intense and full of sentiments. “But… he refuses to keep cooking. Since then, our restaurant has been losing popularity, and the name of our family is currently at stake. People are starting to doubt we are the best restaurant in Whitewater, something that had never happened in hundreds of years of tradition.”Although still emotional, his tone of voice sounded a bit hopeless.
A pause ensued. Then, a sigh. “That’s why we need to do well at this party. The king of Re-Re Island hired us to impress the crowd.” Now, the Cookmon was talking about this as something that had been specified in the letter he had mentioned. “Since it’s a theme party about love, everyone has to attend with a couple, including the chef. And that’s why we need someone beautiful and charming like princess Tohru for him. Of course… I’m still worried Kero refuses to cook, when the time comes. Both things will be necessary for us to make a great impression and regain our prestige: We need prince Kero to cook the best meal ever, and we need him to be part of the cutest couple in the whole party.”
And, although everything he had said had probably make some things clear for the crew, it was likely his next words would be the most important ones.
“Just like I promised in that letter, if Kero makes a great meal at the party, and he and the princess win the prize to the best couple, I will be in eternal gratitude, and I will give you the Firing Chiffon as a thank you present.”
The possibility to get their own ship had appeared. But… how to make Kero to cook again?
It was clear Talia and Tohru weren’t in the most interesting part of the events happening in this castle. However, the room the female Ebi Burgamon had taken them too was quite impressive! Just like the rest of the palace, it was neatly decorated, it had many mirrors and a huge selection of all kinds of dresses. They all had different colors and sizes, making it a paradise for anyone who liked to get well dressed. It could be assumed Talia and Tohru would find just any type of dress in here so, due to the King’s orders, the Ebi Burgamons would just wait for them to come out looking how they pleased.
“We will do your hair and makeup once you’re done picking your outfit, urga.” One of them said. The other one took some steps forward to throw in a suggestion. “I know the king said you could wear whatever you wanted, urga. But… The king of Re-Re Island really likes colorful clothes and decorations, so maybe you could go with a dress with a very flashy tonality?”

"Hah! See? The King understands." The imp smirked with smug superiority at the human, glad that the King understood where he came from. His tamer acted like ambition was inherently a bad thing, something Dio couldn't help but feel was rather narrow minded.
Carlos didn't pay his partner much mind at any rate, this was hardly the time to discuss such petty things. Not that he even bothered to think about that, as soon as they reached a balcony the duo's eyes would be immediatelly drawn towards the large and frankly impressive looking ship in the pond. "The Firing Chiffon" was it's name, and according to the King that would be the way they would reach the much coveted Re-Re Island.
Really, the king didn't need to hear a word from them at this point, their look of sheer awe was more than obvious in their opinion.
"That's...pardon my French but that's one hell of a ship you have there, your majesty." Carlos said once he was over his initial shock, followed by the Impmon simply nodding in agreement.
"Fit for a royal family indeed..."
Of course, there was a "catch". Well, technically it was only a catch for them since they didn't know a thing coming in, but at least the King was nice enough to let them in on the plan for the night. The short of it was a party being held, where Tohru and the prince would be paired together for it in a plan to regain the royal family's honor and prestige. Also something about Kero having to follow in his father's footsteps and become a great cook... despite not wanting anything to do with it.
It was clear they had stumbled into quite a family drama, and Carlos could help but feel sympathetic for the King's plight.
"I see...did he say why he's not interested in cooking or...?" Was he being too nosy in asking that directly? It was clear by the King's tone however that he expected something from them in exchange for the ship, after all...
"That's why you wanted us to try and convince Prince Kero, correct?" He then asked, trying to be absolutely sure what the King wanted from them without asking directly. They were supposed to be in the known, after all. But really, did they have a choice? This was their only way to the island and it's treasures. But yet the man was a bit reluctant: Was he being too rash if he accepted before asking Talia?
Well, in the end he wouldn't be the one to decide. "The Dark Lord will be glad to assist in ensuring the Prince does his part in the party and makes his lineage proud, you can count on us." The imp proclaimed, complete confidence in his tone. Carlos almost wanted to be mad for him being so rash to decide...but really, he would have done the same.

“Noted.” Talia started going through the racks of dresses, trying to find something that didn’t look too old fashioned or cupcakey but would still fall under the category of ‘flashy’ and noticed an off the shoulder teal blue-ish dress lined around the sleeves and chest with purple flowers. “This should work enough.” Not that she wanted to really wear a dress at all (she only liked wearing them for cosplays) but did she really have a choice in the matter? Apparently not but hey if it was going to get them a ship she could suck it up for a few hours. “Nothing too long! Or tight, or scratchy please.” The rabbit sounded like a picky little girl clothes shopping with her mother. “I got this, don’t worry!” But should they match? “Hm, maybe something gold to match your colors!” For someone who claimed to hate fashion Talia seemed good at it, Tohru practically grumbled as the human put different styles against her, settling on a yellow gold one. “Go try this on!” Clothing wasn’t something she herself liked but digimon in cute outfits were definitely her weakness, and when Tohru stepped out of the dressing room wearing the slightly frilly gown she had to just about hold back from squeeing with joy. “I feel like a dressed up doll.” Her voice was filled with a venom sort of filled disgust as brown cheeks turned red from sheer embarassment. “Nonsense! You look adorable!” Right, cute and dainty, just what she wanted to be! Pfft! As if! “I think we’re all set now.” She left the dresses hanging so they wouldn’t get stained with makeup and hair products - the last thing Talia wanted to do was mess up this Kings property after all. It made her wonder, just who did all these outfits belong to since it seemed like there were no women living here? “I hope that King makes the boys wearing scratchy suits! If not, double standard I say!” Besides Dio was the royal - how come he wasn’t the one shoved into a little girls dress? Talia's dressTohru's dress

It was not hard to tell the king seemed delighted with the fact their guests liked the ship. After all, it was important that the receiving end found the payment satisfying. However, one of them who seemed a bit... quiet. The Cookmon turned his head to Simba, a smile slowly taking shape on his lips. "You've been quiet during all of this. Do you like the ship?" He asked. "You remind me of an old friend of mine. A Megidramon that used to wander these lands. I wonder where she is now..." He muttered.
Anyways! That was probably a whole different story. The chef took his attention back to the ship and the mission their guests were supposed to fulfill. His eyes seemed to acquire a certain glimmer when Carlos mentioned the possibility of them having a talk with Kero. "Y-You would do that for us?" With this, he got a tad closer to both the man and Dio. Now his excitement was fairly obvious. Maybe there was a bit of hope, a light at the end of the tunnel? "I mean... That wasn't really part of your mission, after all. You were only supposed to bring us a princess. But... now that I think about it..." Frolicking with his own mustache, he pondered about the matter. "If we don't manage to convince Kero to go there and cook, then there is no way we will be able to deliver high-quality food to the party, and our prestige will be ruined. So, in that sense, it is in your interest our prince agrees on cooking for this party." Well, when you saw all of this as a business transaction, that made sense.
"But... still! Thank you so much!" However, the king failed to do just that, and seemed like he could only see these people as their saviors. He cleared his throat, adding another sentence that seemed to contain the most honest of sentiments. "If all of this works, I will be forever in debt. Not even the Firing Chiffon will be enough to pay you for what you have done for my family."
Now, he decided to tackle the question Carlos had issued before. "Kero doesn't really talk to me all that much. I feel there are some things that make him sad about someone who was very important for him. And for me, too." Now, his voice seemed to have gone back to a melancholic ring. "I also feel it wouldn't be okay for me to talk about his feelings. You should ask him yourself when you talk to him."
Immediately after the king finished his sentence, a couple of Burgamon entered the balcony. "Yor majesty, urga." They bowed before they proceeded. "We took prince Kero to get dressed, but--" One of them began, being interrupted by the other one, who finished his sentence for him. "He refuses to wear anything and is causing a fuss at the male dressing room again!"
His eyes widening initially, to then just turn into a tired expression, the king let out a sigh. "Not again." He turned his head to Carlos, Dio, and Simba. "Please, can you go talk to him now?" He scooted back to the door, pointing to one set of stairs that seemed to go down. "The male dressing room is going down those stairs, third door to the left. I will make sure the Burgamons get The Firing Chiffon ready so you can leave soon. Since you will be in the dressing room already, you might as well get dressed for the occasion. Some Ebi Burgamons there will help you out."
Well, time to get moving!
At the other wing, by the female dressing room, Talia and Tohru had picked up their dresses, which had been applauded by the Ebi Burgamon at the scene. "Nice job, urga! You two looked absolutely beautiful! We will get the dresses taken to the hair salon so you can get changed once your hair and makeup is done." Now that this was settled, the burger digimon led the way out of the dressing room and through the hallway, entering a door to the right. This room was way bigger, it had pink walls, beautiful curtains, chairs, and tables with all kinds of hair and makeup products around. Inside, a group of around five female Ebi Burgamon just stared at both Talia and Tohru.
At the same time, all of them let out a very audible squeal. "URGA!"
"THE PRINCESS IS BEAUTIFUL!" They chimed.
"I-I Know." One of the two Ebi Burgamon who had accompanied the tamer and her partner through the whole dressing process nodded. While the other one stood between them and the five Ebi Burgamon that were already walking to see the Lopmon from up close. "Stop, urga!" She ordered. "Princess doesn't like to be harassed, and her tamer seems to get nervous when they get separated. So please try to not come all at once, urga. The king said they are also choosing what they are wearing and the kind of makeup and hairstyle they're using, so please let them decide what they want." The little burger digimon stopped the incoming group right there. They all seemed to be having trouble to not just jump all over the princess and the human.
"Okay..." They all replied, lowering their head. A little underwhelming, but understandable.
"That's better." With this, only one of them approximated the duo. "What kind of makeup and hairstyle would you like?" She asked, lifting her head up to look at Talia. Then, another of the fashionists got closer too, throwing a question at Tohru. "What kind of decoration would you like to have over your head, princess? It can be something very simple or extravagant. It's your choice."

For a short, terrifying moment Carlos couldn't help but bite the inside of his lip, convinced the King had seen through their ruse. Much to his relief however the King, while surprised, seemed actually more than on board with the idea. And then again why wouldn't he be? Getting his son to listen to reason would save the family's name and reputation, and perhaps even more than that.
That much was clear since the King was willing to reward them even more than just the ship if they did that much for him...a possibility which got the small imp thinking.
"Well, when you put it that way..." The imp said with a smile, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, pondering what sort of riches they could ask for a possible extra reward. Something Carlos was quick to stop, of course. Trying to take advantage out of a King's generosity was probably a quick fire way to get everyone in even more trouble than it was worth. Besides they only really needed a ship.
"Many thanks but the ship would be reward enough, your Lordship." He said with a bow, before adding, "Besides, lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet, we still gotta talk to the prince."
Carlos however, while willing to follow along was still just a bit cautious about this plan, especially after hearing the King talking more about what could be possibly troubling his son. It didn't take the human much effort to figure this was perhaps related to the Queen...or rather her absence. Carlos knew better than to press for more info however, as if this was the case it was too much of a touchy subject to ask so lightly. Besides the king was right, he couldn't talk about his son's feelings, that was something for them to find out.
"We'll do our best your majesty." Really, that was all they could say at this point.
It didn't take long for them to know where to find the troubled Dokamon, and conveniently enough it was at the same place where they would have to get changed for the party! Fancy that. Seeing how they would clearly be separated from Talia and the "Princess" for a bit longer, Carlos figured he should at least try to let them know about what they were up to.
"Good news: Might have gotten us a ship but we gotta do a thing for the king first. Will give you the details later. U guys alright?" After the message was typed and sent the man carried on his way, the trio soon arriving in front of the door to the dressing room. Carlos and Dio exchanged a glance.
"Try not to fight this time, ok guys? We should see what his deal is before we try to convince him." He said, giving the imp and hackmon a stern look.
"Please, who do you take me for? Some common thug?" Dio huffed, offended. Carlos simply shrugged.
"Nah, just a smartass."
With that out of the way? The man opened the door slowly, peeking inside as if waiting for something to come barreling into him as soon as he opened the door.
Which knowing the way the prince seemed to treat his staff wasn't exactly something too far fetched.
"Prince Kero? Are you in here?"

“O-oh of course I do!” Simba had been so distracted by looking around at the decorations of the palace like a kid in the Disney store for the first time that he’d almost failed to notice the conversation going on. That and grown up matters weren’t really his thing. He hadn’t even expected the monarch to personally speak to him hence the mild flinch at hearing the directing voice. And maybe or maybe he wasn’t slightly embarrassed at being caught not paying attention. “Your highness, Sir? Talia knows how to cook really tasty food and I’m sure she would love to show the Prince something new and different to make in order to spark his interest in cooking again?” Maybe he didn’t understand adult stuff that much but he did know what good food tastes like! “I’ll help too!” Luckily Talia never made him wear uncomfortable clothes but maybe if they all wore something similar he’d be comfortable? “But I won’t bite his tail this time!”
Embarrassed and self conscious from the attention of the burgamon Tohru couldn’t help but huff out a low decibel ‘harumph’ in pure irritation. “This is getting old.” It was getting old, and she was too old to be doted on like a princess! “Just hang on for a tiny bit longer Tohru! And you can throw that dress over the edge of the ship!” She would have suggested burning but fire and wooden ships didn’t exactly go hand in hand. Besides, Talia would be lying if she said these little guys weren’t starting to grow on her and maybe for Tohru too even if she wouldn’t admit it. It helped that she knew what their intentions were too by now - as in she didn’t have to worry about her partner becoming a mail order bride to the prince, so far anyway…
“Well I’m not much for silly updos but what about a teased up ponytail?” It would be fancy but also keep the hair out of her face in case anything went wrong. “I’m used to this stuff cause I do a lot of cosplays back home - its uh kinda like dress up for adults.” She didn’t miss much about the human world to be honest but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t miss doing all the nerdy activities she’d enjoyed as a pastime before the accident contracted her to be stuck here. “I-I’m not sure, I don’t know much about fashion to be honest.” That and the rabbit wasn’t really used to receiving attention in this context - she was always the caretaker, hardly ever the one being taken care of and found the opposite to be very uncomfortable if at all invasive. “How about just a simple silk flower? You don’t want anything that’ll get confused with that pretty dress. And as for makeup uhhh...just don’t make us look like clowns!” Could the ebi burgamons tell they weren’t exactly girly girls yet?

“That’s actually a great idea.” The king showed a smile to Simba. “Kero will go with you to Re-Re island, on board of the Firing Chiffon. So that might be a good time for Talia and all of you to know each other a bit better.” After all, they were going into a very important mission together. The Cookmon could only hope they got along well. Then, an elegant chuckle ensued. “I sure hope you don’t!” The monarch seemed to really like Simba. He was a funny Huckmon. A part of the possibilities of the crew getting along well enough was about to be decided now, with the three guys getting inside the male dressing room. What they would find was… exactly what they were promised they would find. Kero throwing Ebi-Burgamons everywhere, with only the upper half of a mini-tuxedo on him, while the servants kept running his way to try to get him dressed properly. “P-Prince Kero, urga! You have to wear this bow!”“Get away from me, I’m not — wearing — anything!”Nothing different from what they expected: total chaos. This little mayhem stopped as soon as the Dokamon noticed the trio’s presence. He put the little Burgamon he was about to throw on the floor, and just stared at the group for a second or two. The rest of the servants did just the same, upon their ‘battle’ being interrupted by the arriving squad. Silence. Awkward silence. A silence that was barely broken by some muttering issued by the Ebi Burgamons. “Oh, no…”“Not now…!”“Urga…”It was clear everyone thought this was going to get ugly. “So…” The prince finally spoke, still standing across the room. “… Tell me…” The tension on the environment was so thick it could be sliced with a knife! Every servant couldn’t help but feel a bigger war was about to break loose. Kero started to walk slowly towards Dio, Simba, and Carlos. Once he had finally arrived exactly in front of them, he… … … “… What is she like!?” ; “Are those dragon things actually part of her body!?”; “She doesn’t have a boyfriend or anything, does she!?”; “What kind of food does she like!?”Welp. They were right. Something had come barreling into them as they opened the door. A barrage of questions! The prince issued these and some other questions to the group. His attitude was still full of energy. But it was clear he was not interested in fighting this time around. He was too busy being interested in a certain princess. “Cosplays…”“urga…”It seemed like the female Ebi Burgamon were not only working but also learning about the human world from Talia. They all seemed to have a lot of fun just being around the tamer and her partner. Constantly marveled at the beauty of the princess and the eloquence of the human. It’s like they were big role models for the little group of fashionistas. Once the hairstyle and makeup of the two of them were done accordingly to what they asked, Tohru and Talia finally got to officially wear the dresses they had picked. And, with that, they were definitely all set to depart! All of the Ebi Burgamon just stood in front of the two of them to take a final glance at the masterpiece they all (including the princess and her tamer) had worked together to achieve. “BEAUTIFUL, URGA!”They all squealed at the same time. Maybe the burger digimon were a bit over the edge but… the two of them looked stunning. A combination of a lot of hard work with clothes, makeup and hair products of high quality had made Talia and her digimon look adorable and charming. More than what they already were! Talia and her blue dress worked in perfect harmony. The style of the dress meshed perfectly with the girl's attitude and looks. While Tohru’s dress was cute but not too simple to take importance out of her. Feeling satisfied with a good result, the Ebi Burgamon from the hair salon just waved their goodbyes at Tohru and Talia, actually looking a bit sad they could not join them at the party. Before they left, one of the Ebi Burgamon who had done their hair and makeup approached Talia. "I... I would like you to have this, Mrs. Talia. I know you're not fans of makeup but... We just wanted to give you this little gift as a thank you for letting us help you through this and allowing us to share some time with you. It was... really fun." She shyly extended her hands, holding what seemed like a small cosmetic case. The box had a light purple color. It contained different types of brushes and powders, along with a tiny mirror. It was a very adorable item, even if you did not really enjoy putting makeup on. Would Talkia take the gift? Who would stay at their side, however, were the two female Ebi Burgamon that had been accompanying them all along. Apparently, they were set to even be at the ship, in case any of the crew members needed a last minute change of clothing or a quick fixing of their makeup. These two female Ebi Burgamon would be joint by two males of the same species, who would approach the group after they got out of the hair salon. “The king says we’re ready to go on board, urga.”“Follow us, urga.”After going down some stairs and walking a very long hallway, a set of enormous doors would open, leaving them with the sight of… The Firing Chiffon! “This is the ship we’ll be using to get to Re-Re Island, urga.”A small accommodation ladder could be seen, deployed at a side of the vessel. All aboard! Inventory: -Crystal ball. [Crucial item] [Carlos] -Cosmetic Case. [Gift] [Waiting...]

If there was anything that the duo could say about the exciteable Hackmon it was that he was certainly not dumb nor slow. If anything, his suggestion of involving Talia in helping with the prince was nothing short of brilliant: who else to help him spark his interest in cooking but arguably the best cook they knew?
Carlos was decent in the kitchen but nothing to write home about, Dio...was better left away from any fire sources, and the twins probably didn't even know how to use an oven. But Talia? She made it all look easy. Before they opened the door to the changing room Carlos made a mental note to tell Talia about this later, hopefully she wouldn't mind sharing her wisdom.
"Heh, great idea kid! Maybe you're not such a dumb fleabag after all..." Dio chuckled, giving the closest thing to a compliment he was capable of.
But that was, of course, after they dealt with the Prince...who was as expected, doing much of what he had been doing earlier: punching the living daylights out of his staff. Soon however his rampage was cut short as he took notice of the trio and began making his way to them. Dio was already on guard, ready to throw down as soon as the small monarch made the first move.
Of course, nothing could prepare them for what actually came out of Kero's mouth.
"Uhh..."
"Uhh..."
Both human and digimon shared a collective moment of stunned silence, not knowing quite what to make of this situation. It would seem the Prince was...somewhat interested in the "Princess" Tohru. That was a bit unexpected for them, but it didn't took the two long to figure they could probably use this to their advantage! What better way to break the ice and ease tensions with the energetic Dokamon?
"Well for starters..." Dio said, scratching his chin thoughtfully, "I'd say she's responsible and just a bit on the serious side, but not too uptight either."
"And yes, she is part dragon, and no, she doesn't have a boyfriend as far as we know." Carlos soon added.
"I'd say she likes pork cutlets?" Granted, that was the only thing he had ever seen Talia cook, but hey, that human knew how to make some delicious cutlets.
They were at it for a bit, but seeing how the questions didn't seem to be stopping however, Carlos tried his best to put a stop to them in the nicest way he could.
"That said your majesty, I think those questions are things her brother here could answer better than us though." He said, giving Simba a gentle pat in the head. He wasn't just trying to get away from the questions either, after all Simba probably knew Tohru better than herself! Maybe. Hopefully. But they weren't there to gossip about Kero's possible crush.
"I think you should know that we didn't come here just to tidy ourselves up for the party. however." The man said, clearing his throat. Now for the tricky part, how should he approach this? Would it be too blunt to say outright they were here because the King sent them?
Not wanting to add "broken ribs by metallic fist" to his ever growing list of digimon related injuries, he tried his best to approach the subject from a...lets say less direct angle. "Prince Kero...what do you plan on cooking for the party?" He paused, before adding, "If anything?"

“Awww thanks Dio!” He’d come to find that nicknames from the imp meant that the dark lord tolerated you to a degree, hence why the dragon didn’t correct him or point out that his cat holosuit had fur. Nah, the only time to stay out of his way it seemed was when he ignited a fireball or was eating pork! Simba actually quite liked when Carlos and Dio were around because as much as he loved his partner and sister, it was nice to have brother figures around too to play with! “Well I don’t really know what boyfriends and girlfriends entail except that there’s tons of kissing and cooties, yuck! But no, she doesn’t have anyone like that. Why? Do you want to like, kiss her n stuff?” So much grossness! What was even cooties anyway? In actuality the dragon had no idea but since he and his sister learned so much about humans from television they’d come to see that kissing was associated with the word! “I’ll tell her you want to go on a date with her though if you like!” The dragon sat on his haunches with a curious kind of look, turning his head to the side in a rather cute manner. He wasn’t even trying either - more like...struck because this was the first time he’d seen someone interested in his sister to this context. “Well duh! Tohru and I are twins, we came from the same egg so she inherited some of my genetics, and I her, kinda?” What exactly that was still needed to be discovered - his gentle personality perhaps? Come to think of it, he wasn’t as aggressive as some other dragons he knew. “Pork cutlets, yes! The best thing Talia makes. And maybe ramen noodle soup too.”
Talia couldn’t help but feel a little bit embarrassed when all the digimon squealed, though she did admit they made her look quite presentable with their hair and makeup skills. ”Ha...thanks! Not bad, not bad at all.” In fact for the first time in a while the woman felt...pretty in this new body? Was that the term? Not just pretty in the physical way but they made her feel emotionally connected to herself again if but for a brief second. “And don’t you just look adorable Tohru!” She scooped up the rabbit in her arms unable to resist giving the cute bunny who now looked like a dressed up stuffed animal a hug. “Watch the dressss, I don’t want to get wrinkled before we go to the ship. I may not like this outfit, but I’m still a lady and we should present ourselves as such.” Granted she had tried to teach Talia basic manners before - no elbows on the table, chew your food slowly, sitting with legs crossed, etc but the tomboy managed to prove that you could put the girl in princess, but putting the princess in girl was a completely different ballgame. “Thank you all again, so much! We truly appreciate your help and if you ever need anything in the future, feel free to send us an email. Lets keep in touch!” With that, Tohru handed them a business card with the Bad Request email on it. And as if this couldn’t get more bittersweet, one of the little digimon handed the girl a tiny compact of what looked like makeup brushes. “Ah...I wasn’t expecting this! That’s so sweet. I appreciate it. I’ll certainly make use of them.” It was such a simple yet special present that the silver haired female wanted to give her something in return but didn’t know what! She finished around in her bag, looking for something she could offer up in return. Well...this should fascinate them right? And the twins had grown bored with the pinwheel so they wouldn’t miss it. “Have this! It’s called a pinwheel, you blow on it and it spins, see?,” she said demonstrating it before handing it to the burgamon, offering a headpat in the process before she followed the others ones out to the ship still carrying Tohru. “Talk about sailing in style!” She wouldn’t deny it, the Firing Chiffon was a piece of art! It was needless to say the Ebi Burgamons were just as shocked as the males of Dio’s Devils, upon seeing the prince acting like this so sudden.
“What did he… say?”
“Urga?”
Completely perplexed
While Dio and Carlos replied to some of his questions, the Dokamon nodded firmly, paying full attention to them. Then, once Simba actually started complementing some of their answers, he turned his head towards him, nodding too, until he mentioned kissing.
“K-Kiss her!?” Kero’s eyes widened as he took a step back. Was he blushing again? Talking about kissing was… so embarrassing. “I-I mean, I…” But Simba kept talking. Wait, telling her he would like to go on a date with her?
“NO!” The prince jumped towards the dragon, using his iron fists to grab his snout, trying to close it well-shut. “Don’t you dare say anything like that! Or…” Wait, this was the same dragon who had bit his tail earlier, wasn’t him? Knowing better, the prince just moved his hands out of the way. He also lowered his tone of voice a bit, noticing there were several servants around them, staring.
“Don’t tell her anything!” He whispered intensively. “We need to keep this between us, you hear me, dragon?” This was actually the princess’ brother! If he wanted to actually like her, it was clear he should not mess with him. Well, because of that and because some biting incidents that had taken place.
Once Carlos had added his last comment, Kero stared at the man for a moment or two. “So you are going to that party.” He made a pause. “That means she agreed to go too, right? The Ebi Burgamons said we would go together, as a … couple.” This last word was accompanied by some more blushing and the prince looking at the ground.
That being said, and considering all of the information he had gathered, his next answer would be crucial. Would he be cooking at all at the party? And, if so, what kind of delicious dish would he be preparing for the Aka-Koka family? Most of the Ebi Burgamons remained quiet, just looking at the development. Some issued some more whispers.
“I’m going to prepare…”
“W-What? Prince Kero is going to cook?”
“What is he going to make, urga?”
Finally, the silence was broken by…
“I think I feel like making some perk cutlets and roman needles.” He answered confidently.
“Y-Your majesty! You have to cook to please the Aka-Koka king! Not the princess!” One of the guards remarked.
“He didn’t even get the names right, urga…”
“I-I’m not cooking to please her! I honestly had been wanting to prepare those two dishes for a while now.” Kero stuttered, his cheeks getting a red tonality once again. “It has…. Nothing to do with her.”
It was pretty obvious he was lying. Blatantly.
But, still, it was likely the crew would notice they could use this little crush in their favor. They just had to do some tweaking.
A couple of Ebi Burgamons approached Dio, Carlos, and Simba.
“While you discuss everything with prince Kero, we should start choosing your outfits for the party.”
If the group had any idea in mind, they would find basically any type of clothes inside this room. If they didn’t, the Ebi Burgamon would just pick up something nice for them and get them dressed up real good!

“That means she agreed to go too, right?"
Kero's words gave Carlos a momentary pause. Had Tohru agreed to this? That was a good question, and one Carlos wasn't exactly sure how to answer, so he tried to be as honest as it was possible.
"Well we can't really speak for her right now but that was the idea, yeah. Hopefully you're fine with being her couple for the night, Prince." Of course, if he had to be honest about that, it was probably best to be honest about a certain elephant in the room, however. "There's a possibility that you may not have given her the best first impression a while ago however, but I'm sure she'll come around once you two get to know eachother a bit." He said, trying to seem as encouragin as he wanted. There was probably going to be one or two bumps in the road ahead for Kero, for sure, but Carlos was confident the kid could pull through. He already seemed on better grounds with Simba at least! Mostly.
Even considering the fact he had been planning on punching them out of his castle less than twenty minutes ago, Carlos couldn't help but finding the young prince somewhat adorable in his clear crush for Tohru. In the end, he was still just a kid, though the man dared not treat him completely like one, not wanting to incur the wrath of the prince.
Between all the blushing and stuttering it was blatantly obvious Prince Kero was not a good liar. The duo shared a glance for a moment, a short knowing smirk between the two. Good to see Kero would be relatively easy to work with, all they had to do was lead him along and keep him confident. Even if his choice for a what to cook seemed somewhat odd for the Ebi Burgamon.
Dio nodded approvingly at Kero, smiling and even swinging his arm around the Dokamon's shoulders for a short moment. "That's a great idea, actually: Talia can help you make those dishes the best they can be so that you can impress both the princess and that Aku-Konga king. Everyone wins!"
"Aka-Koka." The man corrected his partner, then turned to the Dokamon, "Pork and noodles is a good idea, but I do think maybe we could spice it up a bit more just to give it a bit more...let's say "royal" presentation? This is a fancy event, I'm guessing. Is there any other meal you're good with cooking that could go well with that?"
Sure, appealing to Tohru's tastes was probably the best route to take regardless, but at the end of the day they still had to get Kero to make something worthwhile for a big party, something that could delight both the Princess and actual royalty alike, else they risked not getting a boat, and therefore making this whole endeavour pointless.
And there was still the whole deal regarding the Prince's inner demons, but Carlos figured it was probably too loaded of a subject to touch just now, specially since Kero already seemed cooperative. Besides, the Ebi Burgamon brought up another important point: they still had to get dressed.
"Ah, but of course!" Dio exclaimed, rubbing his gloved hands together. This was something that he was unironically looking forward to, surprisingly! "The Dark Lord is a reasonable one, so anything that's not brightly colored will work, unless it's some nice shade of red, perhaps even purple. Also a cape would surely look great, or maybe a cloak..." After all, this was the best chance he'd get to publicly indulge in his Dark Lord schtick, and to dress the part too.
Carlos of course could do little else than to roll his eyes, asking "Perhaps something a bit less...extra than that would be better, Dio?", but besides that he didn't say anything else. If this made his partner happy, then so be it.
"I don't want anything too fancy, if at all possible, just anything that formal enough for the event that won't make me pop out too much." He said glancing at the Burgamons, his tone making it clear he wasn't expecting something nearly as extravagant as his partner. Something nice but practical looking would be good enough.

Now that the adrenaline passed from the previous moment Simba had gone from tail biter mode to cute tail wagging puppy. It was why when the dokamon charged at him that the dragon bolted like a cat from tin foil, hiding behind the legs of Carlos and Dio. He wasn’t done though, nope, the dragon had some verbals insurance up his cloak. “Maybe I won’t tell her that, but I can tell her you’re a meanie head! And I have witnesses.” Despite the power he displayed, he was still but a child at heart and as brave as he tried to be, part of that courage would only come with the timeline of growing up. Word of caution Prince Kero, if you’re trying to land someone, be nice to their little brother. The dragon resisted snarking about how she was only going with him as a pity date but even he knew this situation was too tender to push further. “It’s PORK, not perk, p-o-r-k, geez don’t they teach royalty how to spell? And rah-men, not roman.” Weeell he couldn’t hide all the sass right? “I’m already in a cloak, do I still have to dress up? Just make sure its nothing itchy if I do…”
Waiting for the boys to join them on the boat, Tohru and Talia looked over at the water together admiring the scene, with the girl even thinking back of her home near Puget Sound in Washington a little. “Hope you’re not prone to getting seasick Tohru!” Nah, the only thing that could make her seasick was the little girl dress she had on - hopefully the ship didn’t have any mirrors? “Also if this Prince tries anything funny I swear I’ll kick him!” She sounded like a mom sending her daughter to her first school dance. “And watch your drink! And make sure he has you home by 8- oh…” Apparently Tohru wasn’t the caregiver anymore. “Well don’t you three look handsome! And here’s it’s usually the women that come later.” With the joke flying over his head Simba was just thrilled to be reunited with his human and sister again. “Hi Tohru, hi Talia! You both look like disney princesses! Don’t worry, Carlos and Dio took good care of me, I promise.”

Crap! Kero’s eyes widened as soon as he heard Simba issue his sentence. “NoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNo!” He moved his hands nervously in front of him. “You wouldn’t tell her something as crazy as that, right, dragon?” An awkward smile on his face and some erratic motion still showing his nervousness, Kero wrapped an arm around Simba’s head, even behind Carlos’ leg. “You and I are friends. Friends, right? Right?” Right? Well… maybe not! But he could try! “I’ll cook whatever you want for you! I swear!”While the EbiBurgamons got everyone dressed up, the conversation continued. Regarding Carlos’ question… well, the servants could not help but snicker a little. Why? Well… “Just like the rest of his family at their prime, Prince Kero is probably the best cook around the Southern Tropics, no, around the whole Digital World. He can tell the ingredients on something and the way it should be prepared just by looking at it, urga.” One of them noted. “Every digimon who has tried his food claims it tastes like something made by God itself, urga.” Another one added, with a smile. “So he’s good at cooking absolutely anything. His food is amazingly good, urga.”Apparently, the King was not kidding when he said the cook running The Racketeering had to be the absolute best. All of this swarm of compliments was only interrupted by a loud sigh, coming from Kero himself. “Ugh. I think I’m ready to go.” He said, walking out of the dressing room wearing a small, black tuxedo with a red bow. He sounded a bit annoyed but… more than that, he sounded… sad. His mood seemed to have changed drastically from one moment to the other. Why did his voice acquire that melancholic ring out of the sudden? “W-Wait…!” One of the servants tried to stop him, but he was gone already. “Prince Kero…”“Urga…”The whole group of servants seemed to have gotten a bit sad, honestly. Once they were done with all of the dressing, the EbiBurgamons waved their goodbyes at the crew and pointed them towards the embarking platform. Once they got there and got through the accommodation ladder, the group would find Talia and Tohru! How did they look, though? Well… Carlos was definitely on the simple side of the spectrum. Black, tight jeans and a white shirt, accompanied by black moccasins and a black and white hat to top it off. It was... well, simple, but it blended very well with the man’s silver hair. Dio had a black cape. It was not like a superhero cape, but like a… villain cape, with the twisty edges at the top and the big neck. It was very flashy and it tied to his scarf perfectly, making it look like a single piece of cloth. Very cool, no doubt. Simba, on his side, also had a hat. He looked like he was the boss of a group of gangsters from an 80’s movie! Except that with... a very adorable twist. If he decided to use the hoodie of his cloak, the tip would barely fall off the top of the hat, which gave it a very cool vibe. He was also wearing a dark-blue bow stuck to the neck of his cloak. It matched his sister’s blue pattern! The question remained… Where was Kero? One of the female EbiBurgamons on board approached the group. “We’re almost ready to sail, urga. The king will come out to the balcony in a second to wave his goodbyes. Once we sail, one of us will show some of you around the ship, while the other one will teach some of you how to drive the ship and use nautical charts to know where we’re going. The King says if you’re going to keep this ship, you have to learn how to sail, urga.” That made a lot of sense. “So you should probably start thinking about which one of you will be the sailing master, or which ones of you will be, in case you want to have more than one. Also, it’s a good time to decide who is going to be the captain, since that is important, too.”
Dio’s Devils had to give out roles! Very interesting. It was also a good time for everyone to catch up about what was going on around all of this party before they sailed towards Re-Re Island! Inventory: -Crystal ball. [Crucial item] [Carlos] -Cosmetic Case. [Gift] [Talia]

"Simba, please don't torture the small monarch." Carlos jokingly reprimanded the Hackmon, shaking his head in amusement as the poor prince tried to make peace with his crush's sibling, before turning to the Burgamons. So basically it would seem as it didn't really mattered what Bero cooked, as long as he cooked it well. And if his lineage was of any indication, he would.
Though apparently...that wasn't something Kero was particularly thrilled about, if his saddened tone as he left was of any indication. Carlos couldn't help but bite his lip as he saw him walk away without any chance to stop him. Right, they still had to deal with...that. Hopefully they'd get some time alone with the prince before the actual cooking started?
At any rate, after the duo waved their goodbyes to the dressing crew they finally caught up with Talia and the "princess" just on the embarking platform.
"Why thanks, I do look fancy! They say the "clothes don't make the mon", but they sure as hell help!" The impmon replied with a grin and a deligtfully over the top cackle, clearly besides himself now that he got to look like a stereotypical saturday morning villain, dark cape included. As for Carlos? Well, he took it in stride, though it was clear by his slightly stilted way of moving he wasn't completely accostumed to be wearing something this tight and fancy.
"You're one to talk: you two girls look great!" He smiled, even going so far as carefully holding Talia by the hand and giving her wrist a gentle peck kiss.
That said Kero was nowhere to be seen, which worried the man a bit, but before he could ask about it they were approached by a female Burgamon, who was quick to tell them something they...hadn't quite thought about. The crew needed a captain and a sailing master! Clearly a decision that needed to be thought out carefully and with time...which of course meant Dio was the first to exclaim,
"Of course The Dark Lord Dio should be the captain of this mighty vessel! If I can rule a nation, I can easily run a ship!"
Carlos understandably let out a sigh, but really...was there anyone else that wanted to have such responsability? Perhaps it was better to let the imp live out his fantasy for once, and worse case scenario well...mutinies were a thing for a reason!
"Could be, if nobody else disagrees...what about it, Talia? Princess Tohru? Any one of you want to be a sailing master? You could be like Anne Bonny and Mary Read!" Was Carlos overselling the role? Perhaps, but it was better than to risk giving the small megalomaniac that was Dio complete control over everything.

The small dragon continued to hide behind the legs of Carlos like a small kitten although not without giving the Prince a narrowed look while moving away from his shoulder. “Simba…” he mumbled as his legs wobbled. “My name is SIMBA, not ‘dragon’ you you...you p-pompous asshole! OH.” He covered his mouth realizing the curse word that had just flown out of his mouth, and didn’t know whether to be satisfied or embarrassed by the outburst. On one hand, he took pleasure in telling the prince what he thought of him but on the other it wasn’t like him to have such fits and therefore receive attention in that context - as in the royal staff staring at him like he’d just grown a second head was super awkward. “Too bad, I only like it when Talia cooks for me. Besides, I bet your food tastes like hamburger helper.”When the trip finally caught up with the girls on the ship Talia practically squeed over the two digimon in their costumes, especially Dio who looked absolutely precious in his small cape. “Oh my gosh! Look how adorable and handsome you two look!” Poor Carlos got ghosted for but a second as the woman bent down to hug both Dio and Simba, giving them headpats in the process. “I can’t help but be proud.” A bit of a shaking sound came from behind the woman, with a rabbit uncomfortably peeking out to glance at the newcomers. “D-don’t laugh.” This was embarrassing, feeling like a dressed up doll! “Don’t worry Tohru, no ones judging, come out." “If you say so…”The poor rabbit practically stumbled out, guh she could barely move in this thing! So much so that she felt one wrong move and either the thing would rip or she would trip. “Awww you look good too Carlos.” She blushed while the man kissed her head and felt a bit impatient, if annoyed for him being subtle, was that weird? “Don’t give me that. C’mere dodo.” And with that, the girl pulled the man down for a real, energetic and thoughtful kiss. “It depends, can I change out of this dress if I do?” Then again Tohru didn’t want the responsibility of sailing the boat while she was watching Talia and figured if the dork lord did something dumb they could step in right? So after a quick consideration the three of them figured that was best, the woman winking at her boyfriend. “I say Dio too but don’t worry, we got this Carlos.”
