"Pretty decent craftsmanship for someone you could consider a rookie at all of this."
"You seem a bit upset at that fact there."
"Honestly less so than you would think, more so than you'd expect."
Kan let out an earnest sigh and just simply shook his head. Sure the generator was a masterwork piece in it's own right. There was a few things that stuck out to him however, it was a short term solution in comparison to what the town really needed. They would need plenty of these things to meet the power requirement of a city that this place was inevitably going to turn into.
The human would run his hands over the framework of the generator and adjust a few plates so he could get into the wiring of the generator proper. If he was to get anything done he'd need to see just how much of this thing was working, where the problems were and how he could adjust them. He could already see a few imperfections in the wiring just from a glance. Some things connected incorrectly and there was even one that hadn't been properly grounded.
He hoped he didn't have to take apart the whole thing, but honestly it was starting to shape up like it. He was rather grateful for the fact that he had brought all his tools but by the looks of it this generator was missing quite a few key parts. Some cylinders were missing, a couple screws and the chassis the generator operated on was hitched incorrectly. Further still there were a few wires leading places that they shouldn't! This generator was a masterwork only in the fact that it didn't explode every time it was turned on.
He'd connect one of his tools to the wiring and turn the generator on, wincing a bit as the read out that he was greeted with was far less than what it should be producing.
"This is... ten? Maybe twelve percent?"
"That's good right?"
"I mean it's all right for short term stuff, but for a generator of this size it should be operating at a much higher capacity. But there's a lot of dangerous elements that left unaddressed..."
"Oh... That's not good. Where did they get it from anyways?"
"Some place out of rustport I think, but a lot of the stuff that they manage to sell is either junked intentionally or they aren't aware of the 'damage'."
Kan sighed softly and turned off the generator. His equipment was on par with the best or at least what he could afford. The spirit user looked around the room that the generator was hooked up in and set to work. There were plenty of places he could of worked at that paid better but that didn't matter. Rosewood needed this and there was still a ton of work to do. The room being one of them, there were a lot of things safety wise that needed to be addressed.
He didn't even want to get into the fact that having a power station like this made out of wood was a huge hazard but there were some supplies that still needed to be acquired before that could be addressed too. If he had his way he'd rip down this entire building and start from scratch!
"Generator first, then we can adress the rest of this room. What time is it?"
"...Bout five thirty. You've been at the generator for like, less than an hour. Most of it bein yanno..."
The MachLeomon gently made a wibbly wobbly gesture with his hands and went back to playing with his knife. He didn't seem too interested in the generator and kan's work on it. Unlike his previous spirits the Leomon variant wasn't super into it as he couldn't really do much with the electrical stuff. But that didn't stop him from asking questions or making conversation!

A brisk wind sent leaves and grass twirling across the ground and tried to tug a certain red headed woman's sun hat off to travel to parts unknown. A firm hand pushing down on the middle of the hat was enought to keep it in place.
The Kunemon on her shoulders that was raising his head to bump against the underside was not helping though.
"Knock it off Roger!"
"Oh c'mon, the gusts have been short, you wouldn't have to chase it far."
Hiroyo rolled her eyes and hitched her purse up higher on the shoulder he wasn't perched on. The wind died down but she kept her hand on her hat. Just because her sneakers and shorts were sensible running clothing didn't mean she wanted to run. She said as much and the Kunemon just tossed his head in the particular way he did when he wanted to roll his non existant eyes.
"So who's Kan again anyways?" Roger sounded bored but she knew he was interested. He wouldn't have brought the man up again otherwise. "You made a face when your heard the name."
"I did not make a face, or if I did it was because I remembered who he was."
"And who's that? An ex boyfriend? A one-night stan?"
Hiroyo rolled her eyes then flipped a piece of hair to settle over Roger's back. There had been a night of drunken socializing with one of Kan's spirits and maybe a little with the man himself but she wasn't going to tell Roger that. Not for the first time she wished Morgan had comew ith them to act as buffer but his offer to continue to assemble their research in the library while she and Roger stretched their legs had just been too tempting to pass up. She could only spend so much time looking at books before the words began to squirm off the page. "Do you remember Hookmon and the school in the real world? That was him."
Roger hmmed iby her ear before drawing himself up straight. He swayed gently from side to side, his head bumping against hers as he considered the quesiton. "Yeah I recall: spirit user, red hair, scruffy beard, taller than you!"
He leaned forward so he could leer in her face. She reached up to bop him on the beak with a scowl and he pulled back with a cackle. The cackling stopped when they reached the powerstation, a notion confirmed by the misspelled sign out side. The stripes on his face narrowed increduously. "Wood? Seriously?"
Hiroyo shrugged and pulled open the door to step inside. "Hello, Kan? We're here to help!"
She paused at the sight of the room, her eyes swapping onto the current presences she could see and then to the mechanical mess that Kan was working on. Even without any mechanical knowledge of her own she could tell it looked like a mess. "Is that duct tape holding those wires in place? Is that even safe?!"

Kan grumbled a bit as he worked to take the generator apart bit by bit, noting that there were many safety violations and some of the parts just didn't work. So he'd have to replace them in some way before being able to turn this thing back on. Suffice to say he was glad he brought something that would let him do just that. The shopkeep grumbled a bit and pulled out his infini storage. The town of rosewood had paid him to fix their generator issues, knowing full well that they needed this.
The human however couldn't even get five minutes of actual proper work in when heard something cackle. Not him, not snyder, and certainly not gretal. His hand shot down to his digivice, gripping around the stark white plastic of his D-1. Standing up as he heard someone speak. A familiar voice of a particular bug he had only met once or twice if his memory was good enough.
Then he was greeted by the sight of someone that he had... well seen only another time in comparison to the others. Besides the bus incident and the school, well... There was that night of drinking. He'd quickly stuff his device away and synder let out a soft rumbling chuckle.
"To answer your question. No it's not safe. Which is why it's not on, and it's probably part of the reason this thing is only producing ten.. maybe twelve percent of what it should be."
The man sighed a bit and motion for the two to come over. He was going to at least explain what he needed them to do and he'd have them do it as safe as they could.
"All we have to do is take this whole thing apart, figure out what parts are actually worth keeping and... well. Get rid of all the duct tape. Once we have a good feel of what we all have to work with I have enough materials to work with in my infini storage to build another generator but that's not what they're paying for. They were oddly specific about repairing this one."
The man gestured to a few tools that were lined up next to him, the standard fair like screwdrivers, wrenches and the like. There were a few tools that were of digital origin, one of them looking like a box that kan more or less avoided looking at.
"It's good to see you two again. I presume your other partner is out and about?"
Kan gestured towards snyder who looked bored again, the spirit giving a soft wave to the other two in the room before leaning up against the wall. Spinning his dagger lazily through his fingers.
"If I didn't know better kan..."
"Not now Snyder. We're working."
"Spoilsport."
The spirit snickered a bit and kan shook his head, managing a small smile as he picked up a few grounds. Looking for a good point to put them before he could start working on the electric portion of this generator. Unfortunately he couldn't do this a hundred percent safely.
"I'll need you to hand me some bindings once I've cut some wires, so I can put these grounds right where they need to go... Hmm. What have you all been up to, last I remember things were still going rough in the human world."

The approach Hiroyo took to the would-be-generator was a cautious one. The looks she gave it were a cross between confused and amused, there were so many wires and pieces attached that it was hard to make out what the base shape was under everything. Although she was so far out of her depth knowledge wise that she wouldn't know what they were looking for anyway.
The looks she gave Kan were relieved and cheerful, the looks one could expect her to give a friend you haven't seen in a while as if glad to know they were still around and kicking, even if they did look different from what she remembered. A lot had happened since last time they had met, a lot of close calls and near misses. Should she bring any of that up?
"I guess no matter where you go you have to give the customer what they want, huh? I can't say I have much mechanical expertise, but I do have hands so I've got one up on the worm." She grinned and jerked a thumb toward Roger, her tone light and teasting. Her pose was more relaxed than it had been before despite the few curious glances she snuck toward Snyder on the sly. Was the lion here to help or was something else going on? The polite inquiry about the third member of their group got him a flash of a pleased grin. He remembered! How kind. "Morgan's still with us, he's just resting today. Ate something that didn't agree with him yesterday."
"Really she's just here to act as my thumbs." Roger replied, wiggling his front nubs to emphasize his point. He leaned toward the generator in the middle of the room, his face stripes contracting in concentration as he reached out with his electrical awareness. Hiroyo raised her eyebrows as she waited for him to finish. He had once described the feeling to her as something like a tickle for smaller currents and she knew from experience he was capable of tracing even small amounts in hotel walls.
It made finding a working outlet a breeze while travelling. It would be even more helpful in determining if the Franksteined mess in front of them was well and truly off. Roger let out a low whistle as he straightened up.
"Wow, that things is all kinds of messed up." Roger clicked his beak thoughtfully. Hiroyo tucked a piece of hair between her ear and smiled distantly but politely at Snyder while Roger talked. The Kunemon jerked his head to indicate a direction and continued on with his talk of business. "Honestly building a new one the right way would be faster."
"Mmm, that's a shame. I kinda get why they don't want to. Rosewood is still trying to prove itself. Overall the town has the, 'I can do it myself' feel doesn't it? Like it's trying to prove its adult enough to exist without a lot of outside intervention." Hiroyo gestured broadly and then tilted her head toward Snyder. "Also I don't think we've met? You and Kan seem quite familiar, have you worked together before?"

Kan let out a low chuckle and shook his head. The slow and cautious approach that hiroyo took to this generator was well warranted. But thankfully the man would make it far less dangerous as they went; after all he was one of the best mechanics or engineers in this parts! That he knew of at least! The man shifted and turned his head, the scar that was going down his face plainly obvious at this point. He most certainly didn't have that the last time they met!
"Yeah, though they're pretty gun ho and want to get things done, the generator being a prime example of this... and while you don't have mechanical expertise at least you can follow directions too!"
A small chuckle and he'd shake his head again, Snyder on the other hand noted the few curious glances and gave Hiroyo a small wink. He was still playing around with his daggers, seeming uninterested in the whole generator thing.
"Heh. Maybe I should build you a little chasis so you can have hands or something. Like a little metal vest with arms."
The man would tease reaching up to give the bug a pat on the head if allowed. He was far more gentle than what either would likely remember, far more teasing. Far more happy. He was like a whole different person and considering how buff he was in comparison to before...? He didn't slouch, there was confidence in his stature.
This kan had grown. He had stopped being steeped in the toxic nature of his spirits and previous digimon partner. At the mention of it being messed up the man let out a small sigh.
"Every-time it turns on it has a chance of backfiring and causing a fire. That's why we have a wood shack rather than the re-enforced building that was here before. The fire was so bad but they managed to 'save' the generator here. After I'm done with this I get to design a building to be built around it."
The man spun his screwdriver in his hand, playing with it for a moment before taking a supporting plate out of the generator. Furrowing his brow and turningg his head back to the two.
"The only reason they even called me is because I advertise a lot better in the digital world than in the human one. They think I have Two hundred some years of experience because I'm a thirty year old human!"
The man let out a laugh and snyder snickered along with him. The both of them howevered paused and looked at one another when the last question was presented. The smile faded and snyder scowled; kicking at the dirt.
"Tch. Name's Snyder! I'm Kan's resident dead mon. Pleased to meetcha!"
"Snyder replaced the other spirits when they were destroyed by Azulongmon. He's one that's fully concious and capable of minor interactions with the world as long as we're in the digital one but..."
Kan shook his head and sat back, leaning to sort of look up and back at the other two. He didn't look... terribly bothered by this fact; though there was an edge of sorrow in his voice.
"Well other than Silvermon-x at least. I've heard that he's alive somewhere out in the north. Thick fur and the ability to jump or fly makes him... well a good guardian of the north don't you think?"

Hiroyo sucked in a sharp breath at the news, the action mirrored by Roger on her shoulder. Her face flashing with pained surprise at the unexpected news. Unpleasant was a vast understatement for the news she had been told. She really had put her foot in it this time, but for once she couldn't really blame herself for it. She thought carefully before speaking again, contemplated the changes he had shown.
"It sounds painful. I'm glad you're still alive. And you're right, that sounds like the perfect job for him." An odd sentiment perhaps, but one that felt better than 'I'm sorry for your loss'. She had only really known Silvermon-x in any real capacity, how could she be sorry for the loss of the others when she barely knew them? And, something about Kan seemed lighter, like a weight had lifted.
It wasn't her place to say that though.
"Well! Awful news aside, it's a pleasure to meet you Snyder!" She put a smile.back in her face, a little forced, a little awkward, but still genuine on some level. They couldn't let the past keep them from work after all, but it also didn't feel right to mourn what was in front of what was current.
Her eyes slipped for a moment to the oddly silent Kunemon on her shoulder. He had nodded agreement when she had voiced her sympathy earlier but with the air of someone distracted. She wanted to let him sit, but they had work to do! "Hey, if you make Roger a suit with arms I require a remote for it! Do you know what kind of trouble he'll get into?"
"With your driving? Terrible idea." Success! Kan wasn't the only one who had changed, where in their first appearance the squabbling between the two had been vitriolic now it was something less acidic. It was more squabbling between friends. Part of this change had to do with Roger himself, the Kunemon had allowed the headpats with only an exaggerated head roll.
"You've never seen me drive!" Hiroyo exclaimed as she poked his cheek with a finger. She had changed too, or at least was in the process of changing. It was clear she was more comfortable around the bug at the very least.
"I've seen your walking and that's bad enough." Roger said with a short. He lifted his head, his antenna a twitch as he attempted to get them all back in track. Namely that bit about the fire. "I can believe it caused a fire with how badly wired it is, but isn't it weird it didn't take it with it? Especially if it was the start point of the blaze. It might be paranoia from the Demon Lord activity lately, but I think its worth considering."
For a moment it looked like Hiroyo was going to speak a rebuttal than a thoughtful look appeared on Hiroyo's face and she tapped her chin. "I guess that is probably weird? I mean, would that cause issues with the wiring? I've left my phone out in the sun before and the case got all bubbly and flaked off. The hard plastic underneath was fine, but the soft part on top flaked off."
There was a long pause as Roger considered these words then nodded. "I could see that. Although much would depend on what materials was used for the original building. How about it Kan, are we over thinking this y'think?"

Kan blinked as he realized that... well people would react to that sort of loss differently and he as a person had to cope time and time again with losing friends. So him losing silvermon-x was... just par for the course at this point. His hand gripped the end of the screwdriver rather hard up until he heard a sharp cracking sound. He'd look down to find that he had managed to split it's hard plastic casing clear down the middle. Huffing to himself he'd set it aside eyeing his hand, noting that there was a few flakes of plastic that had stuck to his hand.
"I'm glad too. I don't know what would of happened if I had died. Do people even come back from that sort of thing around here?"
It was an honest question, some humans he had heard could become digimon if circumstances were crazy enough but... Was getting smited by a sovereign something you could say was that crazy?
"Ehehe! Pleased to meet you too lass. Hopefully I can see more of yah, gets ol' Kan here less grim."
"Snyder..."
"Feh! It's not my fault you've been smilin like a buffoon from seein your friend!"
The machleomon waved a little bit and snickered into his hand, giving the other human a small wink. Leaning back to his original position to play with his dagger. Kan shook his head, not looking... well too bothered by snyder's teasing.
"I can see what I can do, mostly it'd be just for forearms or something..."
Kan chuckled lightly and went about taking out more and more of the generator. Eventually it would be almost skeletal, a lot of the stuff that was burned was on the outside but the heart and soul of the machine was still relatively intact.
"Well a lot of it was fire proofed, the people that made the add ons to it didn't ground it or use proper materials so it caught fire. Like using non electrical tape for bindings for instance..."
The man frowned lightly as he noted some of the tape was fine... while other lengths of it were not. Ones closer to where the fire should of started. He'd frown slowly and rub at his chin.
"There's a chance that someone tried to sabotage it but chickened out. Some of these places that should of caught fire are fine... so either it came from an extension, some outside force or there's parts missing that I don't have here. The original building was a mix between muck, mud, and insulated materials on the inside such as a light layer of specific type of concrete. The mix itself is fairly good at keeping things grounded but not... yanno."
Kan shrugged and slowly stood, rubbing at his head and slowly counting the pieces. This generator type should have about two hundred smaller pieces but he was only adding up to about a hundred n fifty. There was a whole segment of this generator missing which would also explain...
"We're missing a fourth of the generator basically. So you're on your game. Now if I was a person who didn't want this generator to work where would I take a piece of equipment like this and stash it..."

'Ohoho! Now isn't this a surprise?' Hiroyo mused as she watched the spirit tease her friend. Her delightful expression shifted into something more thoughtful as she considered the differences from before. During her interaction with Silvermon-X it had only been man or the 'mon when she spoke to them. There had been more spirits than just Silvermon-X. The cheerfulness faltered for a moment.
She hadn't known those other spirits, only felt their loss through the empathy she had for their previous wielder. It made certain thoughts easier to think but she knew better than to voice them.
"Oh c'mon Kan! Is it really that bad that you're happy to see me?" She teased as she leaned over his shoulder to let Roger have a closer look at the mess Kan was examining. She rested a hand on his shoulder to steady herself as Roger stretched out to examine the tape Kan was looking at. Privately Hiroyo was glad he appeared to have temporarily forgotten the mechanical forearms.
Other than a couple of short nods to show that he was following Kan's line of reasoning and the flick-flick-flip of his antenna, Roger was eerily still for being extended so far off Hiroyo's shoulder. Whether it was because of his own bodily strength or her almost-instinctual shifting to help with his balance or a bit of both he didn't sway nearly as much as one might expect from such a long bug stretched out.
"Y'know, I was gonna say that the parts that didn't burn were probably the only ones that weren't poorly made, but your theory of sabotage is soundin' a lot more interesting." The Kunemon said as he recoiled back to 'stand' more squarely on Hiroyo's shoulder. She felt the shift of Kan's muscles beneath her hand and stepped backward as he prepared to stand, giving him a playful wink but not otherwise distracting from the serious consideration of the situation.
"Thinking it's more interesting if someone commited a crime isn't a good reason to suspect that happened."
Roger huffed and gave a flip of his head. "It's more than just that, obviously. Like how Kan said the parts were missing - even if they melted from the heat of the fire there should still be some sign of them! Like ashes or melted plastic-y bits or literally anything."
The explanation was given more matter-of-factly than dismissively, and Hiroyo seemed to accept it int hat veing with a little "oh!" of understanding. She hummed quietly and tapped her chin as she rolled eyes upward and thought about the question Kan had posed. If she was a devious mastermind what would she do with this?
"We-ll, if its hard to move or risky I wouldn't take them far so around town maybe? If the pieces were big they might not be able to hide them all together either!" She brought her eyes down to Kan's face and smacked her fist into her palm with a self-satisfied grin. "Like in the spotted dog movie when they were trying to sneak the puppies onto the truck! They disguised them then moved them in smaller bunches."
Roger stared at her for a moment, the lightning bolts on his face squinting smaller.
"Huh," He finally said before giving a small nod. "That uh, that does check out logic-wise I guess. Its mostly rookies around here as well, so the perp might've been on the smaller size to boot. Why would anyone want to sabotage Rosewood tho?"

Kan and snyder definitely bickered like two friends rather than whatever forced relationship kan had with his previous spirits. Sure silvermon-x was a kind and gentle soul but up until they found a way to seal the rest of the spirits till they were purified... Well. They had no real choice. Snyder's ear flicked and his gaze shifted to Hiroyo for a split second at feeling that cheerfulness falter; something was up but he wasn't going to point it out... Not yet at least. Kan on the other hand paused when she teased him.
"Well when I said it was good to see you I meant it. So no, it's not bad."
He deigned to leave out the part where he was worried about her vanishing on him like the rest of his friends. It was a lonely existence that had only been made recently bearable by the shift in spirits. Kan grimaced a little bit and he'd glance back at hiroyo when she leaned over him.
"It also is a lot more fucked Roger. Rosewood can ill afford people trying to sabotage it."
Kan gave a small somewhat quizzical look at Hiroyo at that wink and snyder nudged the spirit user giving a small wink of his own to follow suit. The man huffed a little bit and rubbed the back of his head. It wasn't hard to spot the faint blush on his cheeks; maybe just once he could honestly engage in some kind of gentle flirt but they had more on their hands than meeting a friend.
"With that in mind, it's likely they wanted to prove to rosewood that they need help from other places in order to make them angry. Rosewood is a very much so a 'do it yourself' sort. But even then they were willing to talk to me about this. I'd say we look around town a bit in places someone child sized would put things in hopes of other's not finding them."
The man hummed a little bit and patted the tamer's shoulder with a chuckle. He knew exactly what movie she was talking about; in fact he had seen it a few dozen times when he was a kid. Not by choice of course as you really never got to pick out what you wanted to watch at an orphanage.
"101 dalmatians is what you're thinking of. Had to watch that at the orphanage all the time when I was younger. Roger can you track residual electricity or just a current flow? Rosewood doesn't have a huge amount of electricity yet so anything out of certain veins would stand out. Realize that some of the older mons might also want some things to fail too so that the younger ones learn but... This isn't that sort of sabotage. It was 100% intentional and malicious."
The man would put his tools away into his infini-storage, humming to himself and glancing at snyder who gave him a shrug. The two of them were definitely fit for one another but the digimon spirit ended up vanishing from the spot and his voice piped out of the device afterwards.
"Just if we get into a fight or something be careful will yah? Last time all my liqour got set on fire!"
"That's not how it ussually works but... Yeah. I'll try."

The general air of cheerfulness faded as Kan wemt on to speculate about who might have stolen the generator pieces. So just because Rosewood was trying to do things on their own someone wanted to prove them wrong? Her lips curved into a frown and she put the backs of her hands on her hips. What a disgrace! It sucked for the bad guys but this kind of clear and tidy case was right up the alley of what Hiroyo thought she and Roger could handle.
"Whoever did this is in for a surprise! We won't let them get away with it!"
"Once we find 'em, sure." Roger replied distractedly. His head was still pointed at the generator as he considered Kan's words. He ground his beak in anticipation. Someone who was resorting to such petty tricks might be much of a fight, but there probably would be a fight. It was a shame Morgan wasn't here but he was looking forward to letting lose.
"Ah, yeah, 101 Dalmations. Its been so long I forgot the name." Hiroyo flashed an uncertain grin at Kan, not really knowing how to respond to the rest of that sentence. He said it so matter-of-factly, should she even comment on it? Luckily he had a question for her shoulder buddy so she was able put that decision off as Roger swung his beak back in Kan's direction and promptly began answering in a precise manner more befitting his brother.
"I typically only track active flows, but if it had a lot of charge pumped through it recently I can probably track the residue. Crowds will be an issue though, or other places with lots of powerlines or appliances runnin'."
"Well that's better than nothing, and it's not like whoever did this was expecting you to be here so they weren't guarding against you." Hiroyo reached up to give Roger's side an encouraging pat. She gave Kan a determined nod then paused as Snyder abruptly disappeared. "So how do you want to do this? Maybe circle around the quieter outside parts of town then work our way in? Or do you want to look around here for more clues?"
The easy back and forth between Kan and Snyder was good to see and it fanned Hiroyo's own desire to one day reach that kind of easy camradiship with Morgan and Roger. Sure they were working well right now but the moment trouble started their tenuous peace would be put to the test.
She just hoped they wouldn't let Kan down.

Kan mulled over the possibilities of where the 'perp' could of put things. He had to think between a mix of young and old... and suffice to say that the list of places it could be was astronomical. He'd grit his teeth a little bit as he wondered if this was even the generator at this point and just some haggard mess they threw together... His eyes slid down to his digivice and snyder let out a deep chuckle.
"If it's that... well then they certainly had a good plan didn't they?"
Kan grimaced a little bit and turned his head to look to the other two. Well they couldn't let them get away with it if they found them. If they didn't find them they'd need to get rosewood to assign guards to the power station here... Kan cracked his knuckles and he'd sigh. He didn't expect either of them to really have a reaction to that; but it was something he was only really comfortable with sharing to people he trusted.
"Not a surprise, it sort of just fades out after a bit doesn't it? Hmmm. Well if he or she was smart they'd avoid places that had a high density so what we're looking for is somewhere they can hide things out of place. Since rosewood isn't huge the residual shouldn't be too difficult to find. For now focus on following a charge that's roughly... Six to seven hours old if you can tell the timeframe."
Kan stretched a bit and looked about, he'd frown lightly at the idea of searching for more clues here. What else would they find? He had been over this place time and time again... He'd tap his head thoughtfully and then give it a small shake.
"Lets start from here and see if Roger can follow the trail. Us circling around might end up alerting who ever did this to what we're up to but if we're straight to the point they won't have a chance to move the generator or it's pieces again. I've been over this place a few times before you arrived so..."

With a no d the Kunemon agreed to search and then fell silent. It wasn't a long silence, just enough to put all his information into words. "It'll be best if I'm out in front, the further in front the better but I don't walk that fast."
"I can hold you out in front. You don't weigh that much and I'm strong!" Hiroyo offered with a wink and a flex to show off her arms. She wasn't as toned as she usually was, a year of back-and-forth between the two worlds had all but killed her gym schedule, but there was still enough that the muscle being there was obvious. She held her arms out in front of her and stepped outside, lifting an eyebrow at Roger's chuckle.
"Are you showing off?" Despite the cheeky question he crawled out onto her arms and stuck his head out the door, his antena twitching. "Yeah I'm picking something up. Large concentration to the left, and some mixed signals."
Hiroyo nodded and obediantly turned to the left. The path they were on skirted away from the town proper. Instead it led them closer to the forest-or at least a short distance to where the edge of the forest had been pushed back. Lines of highly regimented trees grew in careful rows, the saplings slender trunks marked with color-coded scraps of cloth. It had been a short walk from the generator. "This close? You're sure?"
Roger nodded absently, his head slowly moving side-to-side as he scanned the rows of young trees and also the older growth around it. He paused and then jerked his head forward at a particularly old tree who's branches swept back away from the young growth. At the edge of the clearing for the new trees was undergrowth that had grown thick but in several places around the large tree it bore the signs of something passing through: broken twigs on the shrumbs, small woody-stemmed plants that had been trampled, dents in the otherwise uniform wall of tall grass. There were four or five such places, not enough to explain all the missing pieces.
"Here. The trail is pretty concentrated up until this point, so even though it's old I was still able to follow it. After this it starts breaking up and it's going to be harder to trace."
Hiroyo nodded and kept her arms steady. "How about you two? Can you like, sniff anything out or is that more of a dog thing?"

"Then out in front you'll be."
Kan gave a small smile to the Kunemon, he wasn't about to interfere with Roger's way of tracking stuff and he figured that they'd need the space to do his work. Kan couldn't help but laugh at Hiroyo's teasing, he'd even go so far as to make a little momentary fawning moment one that brought a steady chuckle from snyder.
"All right strong-arm lets go."
Kan gave hiroyo a gentle pat on her shoulder and followed after her, his hands in his pockets. One of them was clutched around that stark white digivice; ready at a moments notice to turn the spirit user into his machleomon form while the other simply rested there. He looked pretty relaxed in comparison to the other two probably.
After not but a few minutes they would come to the breaking point and kan looked around. Turning his head this way and that; a frown creasing his lips as he noted a few things. First of all the broken twigs on shrubs, trampled plants... Dents in the uniform wall of tall grass. Kan stepped forward to kneel down, checking over a few of the places and narrowing his eyes.
"To an extent, it's more of a dog thing. If gretal was here she'd probably be able to sniff them out accurately but she's not. Running the shop with my new hire right now I think."
"There's three constant scents here and two new ones. But the 'newest' one wasn't in the generator room. So we're looking for the older of the two..."
"...Or snyder can just blow me out of the water on that one. All right then. What are we looking at?"
Snyder didn't respond for a moment and without even a bat of an eye the man was replaced with a mach-leomon. The digimon snarling and throwing himself off to one side as a knife sank deep into the ground where he had been just a moment ago. That same knife gathering light for a moment.... Berfore kan kicked it up into the sky, the knife detonating above the canopy of the trees they were standing in.
A few moments later a star like digimon dropped out of the trees, in one hand was a mess of wires and in the other was another knife much like the first one. He had a bandoleer of the things across his chest and a nasty look on his face.
"Shoulda left well enough alone Skins. Now I'm gonna have to gut yah. Nothin personal, business is business!"
Kan growled a bit and drew out his own daggers, looking to hiroyo and giving her a small nod. They had found their culprit early and it seemed that it was fully intentional. The blast had likely alerted the guards so they had a small timeframe to act before the opposing individual would try to make good on an escape... But kan was at rookie level, this mon was an ultimate at least?
Log: -SuperStarmon appears with a surprise attack! -Kan was able to kick the knife away to avoid the three of them getting hurt by the explosion.
Move: Explosive Knife: Superstarmon is capable of throwing one of it's many knives at a target. This knife when it strikes takes a few moments to prime before exploding in a very small highly damaging explosion. Fifty foot range no cooldown.

"Did, did that knife just explode?" Hiroyo gaped at the cloud of smoke in the sky and the pitter-patter of the few remaining fragments raining down on the leaves of the trees.
It sounded like rain.
She pulled her arms toward her chest as Kan stepped up. Her friend's spirit form looked strong: a bipedal lion with thick flowing mane and a knife. Was he strong enough though? The star-shaped digimon in front of her was new to her and judging by the exploding knife a rather sizeable threat. "Roger can y-"
"On it!" The worm bunched himself up then launched himself into the air with an acrobatic roll before landing on the ground. He curved his tail over his head to point it at the SuperStarmon. His voice was a tense rumble. It probably wasn't the wisest of ideas to antagonize the menace in front of him but it was pretty clear they weren't going to get out of this without a fight. "Why you gotta be so vicious? We're just out for a walk through the orchard hoping to pick up some freshly grown generator parts! I don't suppose you'd know anything about that hm~?"
Behind him Hiroyo dug into her purse and pulled out the chipped and scruffed digivice and lifted it high overhead. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before reaching deep inside of herself as she felt the digivice begin to awake-a tug in her guts as it siphoned energy from her to Roger. 'I want him to protect me.' The screen lit up with the thought and Roger's form disappeared into an amorphous blob of light before shifting, changing. Wings formed, then the massive legs and the massive beak as the light faded away to reveal the Flymon.
"Hey, how strong are you right now?" It was a quiet aside to Kan as the Flymon launched himself into the air to hover near the spirit-user's head, his wings kicking up dust and stray pieces of grass as he hovered. He kept his senses focused on the opponent as he mentally reviewed the set up. He was almost always down for a good brawl but that was when Morgan was around to pull Hiroyo out of the line of fire if she needed it. Now he that he had to babysit this fight suddenly looked a lot less fun.
The mon in front of him wasn't a push over either. The pressure coming from him wasn't the worse Roger had ever experienced but it certainly wasn't Champion level. The Flymon ground his beak together and then, upon receiving Kan's answer, rose higher into the sky. The markers on his wings began to glow and the innocuous droning from his flapping would become something harsher and more grating to the SuperStarmon as clashing soundwaves flew in his direction. "Bug Buzz!"
Behind her friends Hiroyo opened her eyes and lowered her hand to her chest. She stepped back from the fight, her body tense as she prepared to move. Like Roger she was acutely aware that only one of the bugs was with her. She nodded to herself, her face a mask of determination. It would be up to her to keep herself safe while she provided the power needed to let Roger keep his form. She could do this, she had to believe it.
No, they could do this.
--------------------- Roger evolves to Flymon Roger whisper-questions Kan then flies up a little higher Roger uses Bug Buzz
================= Move info Passives
Active Bug Buzz -- Roger creates an awful buzzing noise with his wings that damages a target and causes them to loose their balance and have a harder time aiming. He has to be close and personal with the target to use it, and requires a small break between uses.
TLDR: Moderate damage to target and lowers a Champion's accuracy by 50% for 1 turn. (25% for Ultimates and 10% for Megas). Two turn cool down.
Cooldowns Bug Buzz: 0/3
