We Forget but still Regret [Mission]

Gio's attention shifted from the pale Talia to her partner Tohru, just in time for him to forget about the petting he had been receiving.
"Yep!" He replied to the lopmon, beaming. "I've been learning lots from bro and Carlos, like how to use my holosuit on my own. Right?" He turned to look and nudge the Impmon, but Dio was too busy focusing on something far more urgent. Which was of course being rather bemused and surprised at Hiroyo not approving of his colorful choice of language. Something he would be quick to point out and complain about.
"Lady, I'm old enough to use whatever word I fu-"
"Alright alright, no need to antagonize everyone else, Dio." Carlos quickly interrupted the rude imp, giving an apologetic look at Hiroyo. "Sorry, he can be like that sometimes. And don't worry about it, I'm pretty much like their baby sitter anyways."
Their talk about that and what the Airdramon had tried to get across would have to wait however, as a sudden situation came up and grabbed everyone's attention.
Of course, it was never easy with kids around. Hiroyo's partners method for taking care of the situation was...questionable to say the least, but between that and the sudden influx of cakes it would hopefully take care of some of the problem?
"Guys, move now." Carlos stated simply, pointing at the Pagumon and his two companions. His partners didn't waste time moving into position...at least Gio didn't, seeing how he grabbed Dio by the scruff of his bandana and quite literally flinged him in the general direction of the MetalKoromon and Tanemon, ignoring the many protests and curses that came from the outraged impmon. After that, the dark scaled lizard quite literally poofed away into a cloud of black smoke. The vaguely guilmon shaped cloud was quick to slink close to the ground, rapidly and silently approaching the lone pagumon from behind. Once it was close enough, the cloud would reconverge again, the now solid and very tangible Gio lunging at the small in training with his arms open. He'd attempt to grab the small big eared blob and if succesful would keep him restrained in a tight (but warm and cozy!) hug.
As for Dio? He'd be landing right next to the pair of in trainings by then, luckily after regaining control of his momentum and not landing face first in the dirt...or at least he would have, had it not been by the sudden appearance of one of the many cakes thrown by Valt in the middle of the Dark Lord's trajectory! The imp would suddenly find himself with a facefull of cake, only for him to fall unceremoniously to the floor in front of the two kids, stunned by both the sweet tasting projectile of doom and the fall itself.
Not his proudest landing...but at the very least Carlos hadn't recorded it with his phone...
Gio throws Dio closer to the kids while he uses Shade Form to get closer to the Pagumon and tries to grab him.
Shade form: Gio turns his body into pure black smoke and disappears, before reappearing again at a desired location within 10 feet of distance. 2 post cooldown.

“That’s good! I’m very glad to hear it.” To be honest Tohru had been a little concerned about leaving the childish Gio in the hands of Carlos and Dio - not because they weren’t responsible but because the big exuberant dragon could be a handful at times (among other things) and she was on the fence about whether they could handle his...personality and everything that came with it. But Carlos seemed to have the right kind of patience, and out of everything that was the most important thing to have with these situations. “I missed you both! Maybe later we could all play tag again?” The less serious (and tail wagging) Simba was super happy to have his playmates with him again even through the dark lords tendency to be grumpy. Which made it all the more ironic Gio just seemed to fit right in with the two of them as if they were always meant to be together. It was no wonder in the end that they were his tamer and brother all along. “Simba and I actually have new holosuits too - a human form is much more comfortable than being a dog for some reason!”
And of course it wasn’t a reunion without Talia scooping up the small dark lord into her arms. It was basically routine at this point. “Carlos is right, you shouldn’t curse in front of ‘the kids’.” A routine that of course involved head scratches which the little imp seemed to secretly enjoy. “And you’re still as cuddly as ever I see Mr Dark Lord! Have you been well? Making sure Carlos doesn’t get into too much trouble I hope?” She knew he wasn’t particularly fond of cuddles so it was a quick one that maybe could have been longer had the unfolding events not happened. But right before letting the imp go the girl couldn’t resist the chance for a boyfriend tease, smug looking at him with the cute creature in her arms. “Hmmph, more like Dio is your babysitter Carlos!”
It thrilled her they’d managed to get a contact of someone experienced who could help the dragon with his flying. “Sure! Just remind me later.”
Tohru’s childcare instincts meant that Talia didn’t even have to tell the twins to go help keep the infants away from those holes with Simba trotting after her with the utmost confidence despite feeling a bit frightened of those glitchy looking holes. “Must be brave, must be brave! Oooh do I smell cake?” He was so enthralled by both of those notions that he deeply failed to see he was stepping in the remains of the cake that splattered like a grenade of pure and absolute sugary diabetes when Dio fell in it. “Hurry hurry Simba!” Moving into a small canter, the frosting and cake chunks which had stuck to the bottom of his claws might as well as have been equal to running on oil as he lost his footing. It was quite a sight with him scrambling in all directions as an attempt to stop the trip but proved to only give it more velocity. Aka, anyone who was within a radius was apt to get snowed with remains of cake and frosting, including a certain rabbit sibling of his who (if they allowed her) had picked up the remaining babies with either of her ears before rocking them in a playful manner as a means of distraction. But when she looked at the cakefaced Dio and her cake covered brother she did something she hardly did - let out a high pitched, uncharacteristically girly giggle.

Everything kind of happened in quick succession. The only isolated case was the Hachi Hachi call towards the shy Chibimon and Kyaromon. And as is common with shy, young digimon, they were quite fearful too. In mixed confusion and scare, they ran away from the bees, back into the rest of the village of beginnings, where it was safe.
Now, the other situation was a bit of a mixed situation. There were 4 digimon and 5 cakes moving towards the Pagumon, Tanemon and Metalkoromon rather simultaneously. From their perspective, they noticed some flying objects heading towards their vicinity but not quite them directly. Then a impmon landed with the highest grace someone could land assuming they’d been hit by a cake while flying. The three might have wanted to sniff the sweet smell, but it was just a split before impmon happened, and then the Hackmon sort of sliding in, spreading more cake everywhere. At the same time, Gio had successfully caught Pagumon off guard in the chaos, and picked up the little rascal, eliciting some… colorful? Word use from the in-training.
“Aaaaa! You poopiehead! Let go of me, you cowardly meanie! I don’t wanna play with you! I wanna go see the weird thingiiies” The pagumon decisively ranted, Flailing it’s ears helplessly which softly slapped against Gio’s form and scales. The Tanemon and Metalkoromon were a lot easier to help, allowing themselves to be picked up by the lopmon’s large ears, nibbling a little at some of the cake which had spread everywhere.
The humans could only really watch as everything unfolded at the same time, a large mess but luckily, the baby digimon were now much further away from the portals. Whenever the digimon would let them go, they would head back to the safer parts of the village of beginnings.
Soon, the airdramon would return, a Gawappamon arriving near to them, his plush form having shook for a bit as he had been running the last bit to get here. He looked at the chaotic situation with all the cake and the baby digimon running away from the portals, and only blinked slowly upon observing them. “... I have a feeling you could all use a lesson in tact. Although, that’s not what you’re here for.”
“We appreciate the concern for the little brave ones’ safety, though… anycase. Let’s get to the situation at hand. You all are here to uh… help our unique case, aren’t you?” As he spoke, he looked towards the Bakemon, in it’s strange situation of muttering. With the Cake-tastrophe over, the sound of the universe fragging and glitching and the Bakemon softly whispering to itself took over once more. “He’s been opening these… things for a while, and we have no clue what’s happening. We checked the records and everything, and all we can tell is that something strange is up. Usually, when a digimon hatches as a rookie or stronger, we can tell something very weird happened in their previous life, or they were created by some event. But this is… this is well beyond what usually happens. We think the answers are in the portals, but we need some mons… or mons and people willing to brave them…”
“So that’s the mission. Head in the portals, look what’s up, and solve it.” he said, rather simply. He’d love to tell them more, but even with all the digging they did, they couldn’t come up with much more besides that.

The delightful smell of strawberry and vanilla weren't quite enought to distract Hiroyo from the current crisis of 'children in danger!!!' but it did make her lower lip quaver as she watched some of the cake splatter across the ground.
Of course that turned promptly into shocked laughter as Impmon met confectionary mid air. She quickly stiffled her giggling with her hands. It was the least she could do after her earlier misstep.
Valt had a point about her and assumptions, even if she was loathe to admit it.
"You're suppose to eat it not slide on it!" Roger crowed, his antenna wiggling wildly as he cackled. The rough sound carried over the buzz, right up until Gawappamon appeared. He didn't even finish listening to the champion's assessment of the situation before he was snorting and interuppting.
"We know plenty, the brats're still intact aren't they?"
"...That was bad."
"Agreed." Morgan landed crisply next to his brother and then gave a polite nod to the Gawappamon. The trio listened quietly as he explained the job in more detail, line in Hiroyo's forehead becoming more and more pronounced as he mentioned going inside the portals.
"Uhm, problem! The little ones felt like they were going to rip my arm apart when forming...are you sure this is safe?" She lowered the hand she had waved in the air before speaking with a concerned look.
"'Are you sure this is safe?'" Roger mimicked and stuck out his tongue as he swiftly dodged Hiroyo's foot. "We just gotta go in when they're already open, duh!"
"That's a terrible plan! Look how quickly they're changing! We could get like, get our hair chopped off our something!" She retorted as she wrapped her arms around her self and shuddered.
"...The damage would be worse than a simple haircut." Morgan replied after a moment of the two bugs staring at her with expressions of disbelief. They were talking possible dismemberment and she was worried about a haircut?
"I'm trying to be the opposite of gross and obvious!"
Morgan squinted at her for a long moment before shifted back with a little 'oh' as the realization hit him. He almost promptly leaned forward with another suspicious look as said realization ran its course. "Discrete. You?"

That... was a disaster. He have no idea how come that their teamwork suddenly turned into some sort of a circus. As much as Ryouta wanted to laugh, he's also dying inside because this is definitely not his best day. He looked at Carlos. "Um, sorry about that cake... to your partner. I'll apologize properly to him later..."
"...I'll do that too," Valt commented, but he's definitely holding his snickers and barely successful at doing so. It doesn't help that the Impmon is caked in one of the cake that landed in front of the babies. Still, looking at some of them munching on the cake made him snickers even louder. Ah, typical brats. Cakes sure made everything goes round huh?
"I'm sorry sir, but tact is what I'm trying to practice... although I didn't thought that the effect would be like that, really," Valt commented. "Had I swooped in, wouldn't it looked like an adult is bullying a kid and that's a no no? Regardless..." another snickers "I'll keep those in mind. I just hope the brave ones are entertained somewhat."
...Especially at the Dork Lord receiving a cake on his cheek.
"I have to agree with Hiroyo-san, though... The portals looked unstable, is there any way for us to make it stable enough for us to enter?" Ryouta asked.
"Tear it open wide enough for it to just... gape open?" Valt suggested.
"That's a bad idea, and you know it."
"Okay, okay, jokes aside, what about if you scan the property of the portals?"
"...Not sure if it'll work, but eh... whatever." Ryouta flashed his D-Nexus scanner camera toward one of the portal. Thankfully he doesn't have to be so close up and personal with those... hair clipping gates. Few meters away should be great.

Well that had certainly gone off the rails quickly! It was any wonder if this would be an isolated incident or was just an omen of things to come. Carlos hoped it would be the former, but you never knew. At any rate however, it would seem they had all managed what they had set out to do and kept any of the digital childrem from getting harmed, so really all Carlos could do was try to stiffle a laugh that came after things finally settled down. Was it a laugh of relief, amusement, or trying to seem more at ease than what he actually was? Nobody really knew.
"Hey, don't think about it too hard, shit happens." He'd reassure both Ryouta and Valt, shrugging. It wasn't like Dio had noticed who threw the cake, so maybe apologizing wouldn't even be necesary. With that however, the man got close to the twins, kneeling down close to both hugging lizard and imp alike.
"Alright, let him go Gio, I think he's had enough." He said to the digimon, the blackguilmon pouting and huffing a bit, reluctantly letting go of the Pagumon. Ah well, it wasn't like he wanted to play with him anyways. "Hey, cheer up, you still have one of those to hug back home." The man added with a smile, glancing at the impmon who was just now getting back on his feet.
"D-did I get em?" He asked in an audibly dizzy tone, smearing off bits and pieces of the cake off his face.
"Well, nobody died, so I say we did." Carlos said with another shrug. While this all had been going on however, Gio had been inching closer and closer to the impmon, eyes glowing with interest.
"...are you gonna eat that, Dio?" He finally asked, pointing a single claw at Dio's face.
"Do I look like I'm in the mood to eat?" His brother replied, barely concealed anger in his tone. Seeing how the blackguilmon seemed to be actually pondering an answer, he was quick to clarify, "No. I'm not."
"Ok!" And with that the young digimon proceeded to take every little chunk of cake as he was able from his visibly annoyed brother's face, stuffing his mouth full in a matter of seconds.
Seeing how none of his partners were any worse for wear, Carlos suppressed the urge to help Dio out with cleaning the sweet treat away, not wanting to either embarrass him further or make his brother sad, so he simply returned to the group once he noticed the Airdramon had returned, this time with some company.
While the explanation from the Gawappamon was a lot clearer...it wasn't exactly any more reassuring thanb the Airdramon's spastic movements. Really? They were actually expected to go into these random portals that lead to god knows where?
"So is there any way to know if the portals all lead to the same place? I would love a guarantee that we won't get stuck if we go to the other side and the portal closes." The man said, joining the other two humans in voicing his biggest concern at the moment. And that was without getting into the other miriad of issues like what was on the other side and if the portals were even stable enough for someone to enter to begin with or indeed, getting split in half like Hiroyo suggested.

Post by Talia and Tohru & Simba on Jul 2, 2019 3:27:19 GMT
Tohru continued to distract the babies by bouncing them with her ears. The ironic part of her tendency to be stoic and mature was that she found herself to be quite gifted (and patient) when it came to handling children, as if it was natural. Which seemed other considering she didn’t recall being a mother in any of her past lives. “Thats right, just focus on playing hehe, auntie Tohru’s got you…” In fact she was focused on the childcare she took a second to notice the mess Simba made. “Brother I told you if you wanna get on our level you have to move fast-” She was cut off by the sensation of something sticky sliding down the side of her face and realized it was all over the place, her face squinting with an uneasiness at the knowledge she was dirty, she did not like being dirty!
Talia meanwhile deduced a theory that had a chance of being possibly useless, possibly brilliant, and maybe made watching all those monster hunting shows useful. “Hmmm. Well I don’t really know very much yet about how the life cycle in the digital world works, but yes ,traditionally, ghosts come into apparition because they have unfinished business left in the world of the living, and in this case, a previous life I imagine. And sometimes they can be vengeful spirits if they were wronged while living - say, if they were murdered. Out of curiosity Mr Gawappamon, does he have any special toys or items he favors, or places he likes to go?” Could his emotions and sadness be triggering the holes?
She shook her head at Hiroyo’s digimon suggesting they go into the hole, speaking to the duck digimon as well in the process. “I don’t think it’s a good idea either. What we should focus on is how this happened and see if we can communicate with the Bakemon to get at least a clue or two as to what happened in his old life. What I’m thinking is that those portals are just unstable data reflecting his own emotional instability.” Maybe without getting too close too…”But we need to somehow show we’re not an enemy.” She was speaking to not just the girl and the duck but to everyone at that point. Could the portals have been a defense mechanism of sorts?
“You alright there buddy?” Simba meanwhile had walked off (not literally) the cake remnants. “I’m okay! Don’t worry about me,” he’d said when Talia knelt down to wipe off some of that cake, Tohru too occupied playing Mary Poppins with the digimon babies in her ears to help at the moment. Sure it was a little bit embarrassing and maybe in another situation he would have cried but he was trying to be more brave and crying wasn’t very brave! And as she tried her best to clean up the dragon, Dio’s dark, sharp tone that she’d never heard from the imp caught her attention. Particularly because it was a ‘go away you’re annoying me’ one, it was a “im at the end of my fucking leash with you” sort of verbally venomous inflection of a tongue.
It was uncomfortable, to say the least.
It was why once Simba was okay that she went to Dio, kneeling down wiping some of the cake off him with the same alcohol wipes she’d use on the dragon. It wasn’t much, but it was handy to carry them around for situations like this. “If you’re not feeling up to say anything that’s okay, but I wanted to help you get cleaned up, show I’m here for you, ya know? Talia is always on your side!”

The pagumon accepted defeat at the hands of the power of hugs. Truly, an inescapable force of nature. As a result, once let go, he fled the scene. The baby digimon with Tohru happily remained pampered by her though, enjoying it.
Gawappamon, meanwhile, was staring into the void at the helplessness of one of the two bug digimon. They had really been desperate for assistance with the portal issue, had they not? He considered their various questions, and replied. “Yeah so, that’s the problem… we can’t really ensure the portals are safe at all. That’s sadly, kind of down to you.”
Luckily, both the scans that Ryouta were setting up, and some devices that Kan was setting up were starting to prove their use. Scans proved that these portals were complicated, but were best compared to, say, an infinistorage. They lead to somewhere that was ‘bigger on the inside’, only in this case, that somewhere didn’t seem to be stable. In no time though, Kan was messing with the portals, and he managed to create a portal on command, and make it slightly wider, although not wide enough for anyone to go through yet. He was making fast progress though.
“As for any advice on what to expect, we can’t say much. The Bakemon’s been like this ever since he hatched, and there were already lesser glitched occuring before he hatched. In the beginning, we managed to decipher some of it… but the only thing we learned is that it seems he’s being… bothered?” The Gawappamon looked with a shrug. It seemed the programmer was making rapid pace though.

Science had not been Hiroyo's best subject in school but she thought she was keeping up well enough! She had felt first hand how the portals had felt. She could understand "dangerous" and "unstable".
...granted she understood it in terms of hillsides and rocks but the difference between falling down a cliff surely wasn't too different from...falling out of reality?
'I'll just keep that comparison to myself.' Hiroyo thought as a drop of sweat slid down her face. It wasn't an unpleasant temperature: the sun was warm and bright and there was a vague breeze ebbed and rose in intervals. It was a blessing when it was there but not for the heat, the breeze helped stifle the ever present droning from the portals.
It was a constant irritation.
Luckily Hiroyo was quick to find something else to occupy her attention. Talia and the newly gained parade of baby digimon made Hiroyo stuff a hand up against her mouth as her eyes sparkled in delight. Cute! So Cute! Talia really had the air of a patient baby-sitter watching over her charges, and it made Hiroyo just a bit jealous.
A glance at the rapidly retreating backs of the babies Morgan had bullied made her sigh. There was no way she was going to get cute baby snuggles after a stunt like that!
She straightened up as the giant ginger man set up something and Ryouta and crew scanned something and the others talked, a lot. She could follow along mostly with Talia, and that all seemed rather plausible to her.
"Wait!" Hiroyo's eyes lit up as the Gawappamon explained what they had deciphered. She turned to the rest of the group with a delighted expression. "What if its haunted instead of bothered? What if he's like, dealing with ghosts in his brain? What if he has brain ghosts?"
Morgan gave his tamer a flat, silent stare. Roger threw his head back and groaned loudly.
"That's the stupidest thing." The Kunemon complained. "Why don't you go stick your arm in the new portal and see if it falls off?"
Hiroyo huffed and put her hands on her hips but Morgan spoke up before she could say anything.
"Putting something through the new portal would be a good way to test its stability before we go through ourselves." He remarked. He gave Kan an acknowledging nod. "It is not that I doubt your skills just that I do not trust the erratic nature of these portals."

"Mmmm, infini-store like place... I guess that makes sense, but brings question of how strong is this Digimon to cause this sort of phenomenon... or whether there are something that resonates with its feeling that it causes all these rifts. Well, I'm not really a scholar like Yuuki is, so I guess this is only the limit of my deduction..." Ryouta commented. "Either way, I guess I'll wait for the portal to stabilize to enter... but..."
he let out a small hum. "Say do you think it's wise to tie a rock or something, make it like some makeshift animal, pull it with a string and see whatever happened to it?"
"What if there is something there?" Valt countered
"Something?"
"I don't believe that we're going to be just having some picnic inside of that. I think there's great possibility there are anomalies inside... Whatever inside will most likely acts differently than how we're used to... if whatever inside happened to be pulled outside by that sort of method, how should we deal with it?"
"...Well that makes sense, but how else should we try it?"
"........That's true... sending attack inside might will cause something to retaliate back. A decoy might be safer... gee, if only we have something like camera to attach on it, maybe we'll know what happened on the inside..."
On the idea on communicating with Bakemon tho, Ryouta just... took a step back instinctively. "Um, if you want to talk to him, uh... I, I opt to just listen the gist of it if you don't mind... Paranormals always gave me heebie jeebies seriously... ugh..."

Yes, Talia was right in thinking Dio's patience with his brother was slowly but surely wearing thin by the minute. Having to look after a kid twice his size but with half his maturity was as hard as it sounded, and he was ready to let his dumb brother hear about it...until the human girl approached him, that is. He'd look up at her with curiosity, and much to his surprise would find himself getting his face cleaned by the pale girl. He'd squirm just a bit, but otherwise would make no attempts at shoving Talia away as she wiped away the remaining cake from him, all the while she'd give him encouraging words. Surprisingly, that seemed good enough to get him to calm down.
"...thanks Talia." Was all he would mutter, a mild blush in his face as he looked down at his feet, not wanting to lock eyes with the human else she saw that awkward side of him yet again so he quickly made his way back next to his own partner. Carlos quietly moved his lips, giving Talia a "thanks" of his own for being able to look after his partner like that. Last thing they needed was having him lash out before the mission even started. Having been done with that he turned his attention back to the Gawappamon and gave a soft sigh.
"Figures, it couldn't be that easy." As expected, nobody quite knew what to expect on the other side of the portals, but there were quite a few of theories about it. Hiroyo's brain ghosts related theory while...out there, seemed about as logical as any of the weird events happening around the odd digimon. Ryouta and Valt's meanwhile, reached the pretty logical conclusion than the other side was probably a rather dangerous place to be, so going in without thinking would probably be a rather poor choice.
As for Gio's take on it?
"Maybe I could take a peek?" The guilmon said, already heading for one of the portals before the man grabbed him by the tail, stopping him.
"How about we stop shoving body parts into portals without knowing what's on the other side?" He shook his head, before turning to the group again, "Honestly, unless anyone has a way of checking the other side safely I think our best bet would be just all go into the same portal as soon as it's stable enough, just in case they don't all lead to the same place." He shrugged, not entirely sure that was a plan worth following but it was better than standing around stalling for any longer.

“Anytime buddy.” She could see the imp was highly embarrassed and in a way felt sorry that he perceived it as such because the girl wanted him, more than anything, to understand that she wasn’t here to judge or laugh at him, she was here for all the support he needed and then some - whether that be in the form of a mother figure or older sister figure. Personally she preferred the latter since the term mother was...kind of associated with being old right? To be honest it didn’t really matter to her though that much, as long as he would hopefully one day understand and trust that she was here for him, as much as she was Carlos and Gio. Would the gentle headpat and stroke behind his ears she was giving him at least be a start? She would have loved to pick him up, he was just so cute and petite! But she liked to think one of the reasons for their bond was that Talia respected his dignity and didn’t treat him like a small child or stuffed animal (most of the time) so as tempting as the gesture was, she quietly resisted.
Mission first, imp cuddles later. Frankly the woman was getting frustrated by this groups lack of ability to make decisions and or pick one thing to do - granted, dealing with the bakemon was starting to feel like she was taking 75 hairpin turns. “What about a cleansing ritual? Or some kind of exorcism to get rid of the bad aura?” Looking back at the group and the ghost digimon, Talia looked at the twins before moving closer to the bakemon with the two of them - it was highly risky, yes? But what was moving forward without risk? Plus she had the twins for protection! Maybe they couldn’t go through the portals, so why not try talking to the source itself? “Hi, my name’s Talia, and this is Tohru and Simba, we’re here to help you, don’t be scared!” They kept their distance far enough for a degree of insurance but close enough to still be personable. “If possible, can you show us something of what happened in your previous life?”

The Gawappamon shrugged at their suggestions “i mean, Brain ghosts… are… as good a guess as any. Although, they’d be more like intrusive neurodata inserted into him in his previous life… although, i’ve never heard of any digimon having such complicated code myself. All just myth and science fiction, as far as I know”
It seems that they settled with trying to communicate with the Bakemon while they waited for Kan to stabilize a portal. However, even with Kan’s best efforts, there was no safely approaching the Bakemon within speaking distance. Talia felt the same fuzzy feeling Hiroyo did a few times over, each time helping her predict what would happen and making it easy to move out of the way… but making it impossible to get close.
“Yeah, we’ve been having no luck getting closer recently either. But yeah, he keeps saying stuff like ‘leave me alone’ and ‘please stop’. So i guess being ‘haunted’ fits the bill nicely.” Gawappamon said, thinking about it. Haunting seemed about right. How spooky, how weird. What kind of code would cause something like this.
As they all had a moment of what seemed to be to settle with the sound, part of the glitchiness stopped. The sound wasn’t as crackling and disturbing anymore. Kan finished adjusting something on the hardware he had brought, and a portal ripped open not far off from the Bakemon. It was suddenly a bit quieter, but a constant sound came from the portal. It was like the sound of a flat shoreline heard from far away, a constant “shsssshhh”.
The portal only supplied nonsensical visuals, but it seemed stable, and the area around the Bakemon felt less destructive. All the energy had been stabilized into the portal. The sight in the portal was a slow moving twist of digicode against an empty backdrop which slowly changed in colour. Somehow it reminded any digimon who had digivolved of digivolution. Although for no exact reason...

Gawappamon started talking about intrusive neuro-whatits and Morgan looked really attentive so Hiroyo just, stopped paying attention to the weird plush-kappa-mon. She couldn't follow that and she could count on him to keep track.
She was much more on board with the ideas she could follow!
"Hey, that doesn't sound like a bad idea." She fished around in her purse and pulled out a spare shoelace from her sandal and held it out to Ryouta. "This probably isn't long enough, but maybe if we tie it to a stick? I mean, I trust our engineer but better safe than sorry, right?"
She gave him a cheerful grin. She had considered just jumping through the portal once it was declared stable but after the way one of them had tried to eat her arm earlier? Maybe not the best choice.
It wasn't like she was procrastinating going into the portal! She was just...giving everyone else a chance to make their observations!
The mention of exorcisms was brought up and Hiroyo perked up and nodded at Talia. It was a good idea but the red head didn't really know any. "Maybe we should say a prayer or something? I don't know who you'd pray to over here, or if praying to the gods back home would even reach them."
"Yggdrasil would be the most obvious choice." Morgan remarked. He kept to the ground as he came over to stand by Hiroyo and his eyes shifted from each tamer and digimon assembled. "The suggestion to stick together is a sound one, physical contact might be the best way to accomplish that. Like a guideline for climbing."
Hiroyo brightened at that, she knew climbing! She considered the shoelace then her purse. "Uhm, well I don't know if we've got a rope big enough but we've got my purse which at least three of us should be able to hold onto. If I'm carrying Roger that's one less issue too." She preemptively unslung her purse and fished her digivice out and transfered it to her pocket before zipping her purse back up. "Maybe, humans hold the purse strap with one hand and onto their partners with their other? It's going to be a bit short though..."
"What is this, grade school?"

"Tie it to stick, really?" Valt commented, looking at the two as they're seem to be intent on doing this. "...Oh c'mon, Aniki! You got a bait program..."
"Bait program is more likely to attract a Digimon and leave something for them to eat, not 'I want to test the depth of the danger we're facing'," Ryouta countered. "Also I don't know. It's been a while since I last do any sort of shinto blessing whatsoever... Speaking of which, Valt swears under Homeostasis, right?"
"And I'm called heretics by some thanks to that (lol)," Valt commented. "But either way, are you sure this is safe?" he once again asked as he saw Ryouta already finished with the makeshift bait. After making sure that it stabled enough... He... obviously tossed it in!
"You know, you could have blessed this place a bit for the moment... or something..."
"Like I said, I'm just grandson of a shrine maiden, not the actual, bona fide priest! You want me to try to chant?"
"Why not?"
"...Valt, you... fine... Hi fu mi yo i mu na ya ko to mo chi ro ra ne..." Ryouta began chanting a simple norito, hoping that it would bring some protection... But for obvious reason, he's feeling silly to be doing this... It's short one, but he's not sure if it'll give any sort of good effect.
"Anyway, if it comes to rope, I guess I got some in my infini-store... After I pull this shoelace with the pebble on the end and if it's clear, let's probably tie it on our body like... when we're going to hike I guess, just in case something gone wrong, another can pull us somehow."
"Well, that's better idea than nothing I guess..." Valt commented. "Anyway, for the order..." he scratches his head "...I'm guessing I and Aniki will be at the front?"
"...It can't be helped I guess."
Ryouta took out the rope from his infini-store and distribute it to the rest. He believes that the rest would know what to do with them.
