A stealthy approach?
Immediately, Moeru seemed a little skeptical about the idea: "There's not really that much range to maneuver closer, is there? They should already be on alert, and its not like there's a lot of natural cover in the desert-"
"- But its not like we're going to accomplish anything this way. Considering our other approach is just to walk up and say 'how-do-you-do', its still an option to consider."
And, apparently, it was actually an option that they could take advantage of. The Datamon gave a small whir as Holly gave her three word response - and seemingly vanish off into the shadows, almost seeming to vanish right before the group itself. Well, that was definitely a thing, Moeru idly scratching the back of his head in slight embarrassment. "Well... keep our eyes forward, at least. If something goes wrong we should have more than enough firepower between us to bail her out..." Well, they should be paying attention to begin with, but a few hundred yards away, Holly would manage to get close enough to the opposing group to hear just what they were talking about. Despite the recent scuffle with the intruders, the air around them seemed remarkably casual, the Makuramon listening to Pajiramon's report.
"... Hm... so more than one or two ended up coming out?" The monkey tilted his head towards the ram, who gave a nod in response. "Curious. He only extended out the invitation to one person..."
"Clearly they were being cautioussss..." The serpent hissed. "Sso what did you make of it?"
"Hm... though I wouldn't put it past them, the one who reached out to us is probably not those researching idiots or their hired lap-dog of a tamer. As for the others - well, bunny and her tamer seem confused about it, and I don't think the guy with the dinosaur's anything more than a hired grunt, they seem completely out of place. And the Mei just seems like another of their violent type."
"In short?"
"Mm... thinking it through, its either the Datamon, that female Wizardmon, or the MeiCrackmon that ended up responding to him."
"Interessting... so what do we do with the exessss?" "Hm... even if our scouting goes off without a hitch, we're probably going to have to end up approaching at some point..."
Given that, was the entire risk a bit too much to ask for, as it was? "Honestly, I'm still uncertain that we have to take this so cautiously at all. If they're this organized, maybe they can be reasoned with to some extent."
"You sure you aren't just being a bit too hopeful, here?"

Honestly the fact it came down to her stepping back into the thing she hated doing just to progress didn't really sit right with holly. Sure she was damn good at it, probably would of been even better if she practiced more but why would a doctor of all things need an assassin skill set? Biting the inside of her cheek she'd flick her ears forward as the other digimon talked. They were being quite casual; even though there were intruders that they had to deal with.
The information she was getting from them seemed to imply that they were only expecting one or two. They were going over what had happened, putting forward the responses. Eventually when it came down to it... well it came down to either her or the Meicrackmon. Her of all people. Gritting her teeth she knew what the eventualy decision would be if they decided to continue forward with this topic. It was easy to see they'd probably try to fight everyone down to a standstill and make off with her or Cross.
Her expression darkened and as much as she wanted to go back she had to push forward. What she'd have to do is approach carefully, wait for an opening of sight lines to sneak into the camp and push forward for more information. When she got the ability to she'd simply send back one of her clones. There wasn't anything else she could do, as she would waste precious seconds trodding back to them.
What she would do is wait for that moment to leap over the radius of the lights that they set up, the light would only reach so high and reaching that crest wouldn't be hard with the speed she had. Thankfully her training also helped her quiet down her footsteps. Here was just hoping that one of them didn't have a ground sensory ability or something. If that was successful? Well there were a ton of tents she could check through and maybe just maybe she would find something....
But For now? Either her team would have to push forward on their own knowing that they had an ally in the camp they could run distraction for while she picked it apart for information or sovereigns willing...
Would find out just who 'him' was.
Log: -Holly waits for an appropriate time to jump over the light line of the outer-ing to get into the camp. -She deigns not to go back to the group, effectively figuring they'd come up with something to assist her from afar. -She will send back clones to inform the group of the situation when she can.

"A distinct possibility...I haven't seen enough yet to come to a conclusion, so...Here's hoping that you find out enough to make that not the case." Aya nodded towards Holly. "Of course..." She began...
"They could just be a band of lone Digimon." By far the simplest solution to be presenting, but in the event that the theory they came up with first was inaccurate, then perhaps Occam's Razor would take hold. As Holly departed, Coolmon looked to the rest of the group.
"So, if she gets caught...what's our plan? Going in guns blazing might be a bit risky, and two of us do have cards, so we should figure out a back-up plan.
...Actually, heck, what capabilities -do- we all have at our highest levels?" The rabbit inquired.

"I mean I like giving people the benefit of doubt, but they were the first ones to attack, being cautious seems like the only right choice so far." Carlos commented as he took another quick glance at the camp, before shrugging and turning to the male wizardmon. "But...if you guys wanna try diplomacy be my guest."
It didn't hurt to try, right? Well that was unless things went south, in which case it would probably hurt. Really right now he was mostly worried about Holly making it back safely before proceeding, but the possibility they would have to go in there themselves was as certain as it was inevitable. And like Coolmon said, they had to have a plan, and what better way to start planning than to know what eachother was capable of?
"Well I uh..." Carlos looked into his pocket, taking a quick glance at the cards he had brought along for the mission. It was quite a bizarre feeling, knowing these things held so much worth and power despite their innocent appearance. Really, it wasn't much different than when he was looking over normal playing cards back when he was a kid. "Card wise? I have a bit of everything, couple good envirmental things and attacks. Most of those will only affect these two, though." He said, pointing at his two partners.
As for the twins abilities? "Close range offense and little else. Mega's more of the same, but with fire and better range." Dio said with a short nod, before glancing at his brother. Gio however seemed a bit unsure as to what to even answer.
"Uhmmm." Really, it was almost funny to see such a massive creature of flesh and metal struggling to arrange his thoughts like this, the Wargrowlmon scratching the back of his neck somewhat awkwardly before finally answering, "...I have like...lightning type stuff to his bad guys from far away? And...guns? Oh! Also a shield thingy, so in case they try to do the same to us you can hide behind me."
He paused for a moment, before adding with a sad sigh, "...I don't know much about my Mega. Sorry."
"It's ok bud, we're a big group so hopefully it won't come down to that." The man reassured him, patting his side. "How about you guys? Anything to add?"

"I'd rather not fight unless we have to though you're not wrong in that they did assault us first." Cross murmured adjusting her grip on her satchel, crimson eyes gleaming with a dull red light in the darkness as she kept the brow of her hat low to try to obscure them.
"Still if it comes to combat I'm rather good with data chips and am of course a doctor. I've got a few more tricks up my sleeves then just that, but I'd rather not say what they are just yet in case they're not needed." The female Wizardmon explained nodding to the rest of her party, but her eyes never left the camp. Her keen gaze tracking the movements of the troops as they went about their business while she tried to ascertain how long this camp had been established. If it was a long term base or...something new.

"The theme's a little too consistent for them to just be a band of lone Digimon... Deva enthusiasts, perhaps?"
The Datamon mused, briefly thinking to himself. Right now, it seemed like it was the time to consolidate what they were able to do, so the group had a better picture of what they were working with. Moeru gave an awkward chuckle: "Well, we should have figured that one out at the start, maybe..."
"Nothing to be done about it now." The Wizardmon shrugged, taking stock of what everyone could do. Carlos was a card user, Dio was a brawler, Gio was a mid-range vanguard, and Cross was a supporting type. Moeru was the next to speak up.
"No cards on my end, but I am a 'Red' user. Deputymon's attacks do more damage the higher level the opponent is, so he can leave a surprising scorch on even mega level targets. It just gets up-scaled when he goes to Justimon."
The Wizardmon nodded: "Neither Datamon nor myself are fighters. I'm an enchanter, spellcaster, and shield user..."
"... And I can alleviate airborne toxins and certain weather effects. We keep Moeru around for knocking people out, really."
Alright, a decent spread, at least. But what was the plan going forward? "Unfortunately, no matter which way we cut it, directly approaching the camp is best. A single Digimon might be able to sneak on through, but as a group, we'd just be spreading ourselves out too much. Besides, we shot at a Saberdramon when this whole thing started, it could have just been a warning shot."
Well, that might have been a bit optimistic... ... But considering the camp hadn't yet collapsed around an invader's position, maybe there was some weight to it! Of course, Holly was not easy to spot, the black-furred ultimate blending both well with the dark peat moss and the skies overhead. As she moved deeper into the camp, the conversation would fall out of earshot, the group collectively thinking it over as the cat effortlessly moved deeper inside. And as luck would have it, where she landed there would be a ton of tents for her to rifle through.
More than seemed necessary, actually. Dried food, supplies, water... just how long did they plan to be out here, this place was stocked like a small town! But as it was, nothing 'important' was in this unguarded area of the camp. No papers, no electronics, no trails, not even a map or a single pen to write down notes with. If she kept on with it, she'd find her way deeper into the camp - and eventually catch sight of another deva, the bull, Vajramon. But this one wasn't alone - in fact, directly across from him was a human (X), gently pushing his glasses right back over his head.
"I see... and is that all there is to report?"
The bull gave a nod, and trudged his way back to the front of the camp, as a Hawkmon flew right across the Meicrackmon's vision, perching himself on the man's shoulder. Floating next to the bird's right wing was a single crimson sphere, one that let off an odd sort of energy.
"So what do you think?" The Hawkmon gave a grin, the tamer returning a tired sigh. "Well, that poor ol' dear me can't be trusted in this day and age. And that its quite convenient that the 'old one' had this many still surviving. A dedicated lot, but a stubborn bunch..." He shook his head to the Vajramon, the Hawkmon rolling his eyes.
"Well, its not like we can keep holing up around here forever. How about it?"
"Let's see... two more Digivices and a lot full of at least ultimates. Maybe you can scrap together a second ball out of all that."
"Ff, here's hoping!" The bird chuckled - eyes turning to lock right on the Meicrackmon's position.
"Hm?" And if Holly stayed any longer, well, the tamer was going to catch on, too.

The fact that there wasn't anyone immediately onto her had holly in a somewhat odd position. She had anticipated a quick find on the foe's part, likely bearing down upon her even as she moved through. Her ears flicking a bit as that conversation moved out of earshot. She was careful as she moved through the camp, narrowing her eyes as she rifled through the tents.
The supplies here would last them a long time, far too long for the group to really make any honest use of them. She'd of course take a few samples, stuffing them away into her infini-store. It never hurt to know exactly what they kept around and if they could track the food to a seller they could find out more about the buyers with the right... persuasions. It was frustrating that she didn't find any papers or electronics, no maps or even a single pen. She didn't need those things but finding them would of been nice, to see what sort of history this place kept.
At the sight of the Vajramon the meicrackmon found her eyes running up and down it's form. Appraising it, she'd squat in the shadows. Her piercing blue eyes reading them like a book, at hearing the human speak her attention shifted. She didn't know the real difference in human psyology even with all of her reading. She knew that as they got older they changed somehow and this one was among one of the oldest she had probably seen. Raising her hand to her chin she'd give it a thoughtful rub. So this guy was the boss of some kind? Or someone that could direct the others? He would be a highly valuable target or find...
Tch...
The hawkmon that flew across her vision and landed on the human's shoulder made the meicrackmon shift nervously. She didn't know what to think of bird type mons. Some were ditzy, some were treats to work with and then there was the sort that you had to worry about. Her eyes slid off of the digimon and locked on that sphere. She'd bite the inside of her cheek and narrow her eyes. That energy didn't feel right to her. Something was off and she couldn't put her finger on it.
Then more talking, the hawkmon to the human. So the human was old and there was some sort of relation here with the digimon... with someone the human refered to as an old one? The meicrackmon's eyes narrowed into slits and she'd slide her foot slightly, she didn't like this. They were being too casual for people that...
Two more devices and a lot of at least ultimates? A second ball scrapped...
Holly's fur stood on end as she felt the bird's eyes turn to her. There was so much going through her mind at the moment.. There were more questions she wanted to ask and more she wanted to do regarding this but she didn't have the time. The enemy had located her without issue even with all of her training in staying hidden. They had some way to see in the dark. If that was the case the group of people out around the torches let her in.
She felt her heart sink and without so much as a word or second glance the meicrackmon took off back the way she came. She needed to warn the others about this, how they knew of them and had some sort of plan to make something using them. The odd red sphere would be a target and so would the old man. If they could punch that hawkmon down to size too well...
Hopefully they didn't think to fight her here, if they did she'd be forced to get a little more physical than she wanted to.
If they didn't? Well she'd be able to make it out the same way she came in, back to the group and hopefully be able to explain everything...

"It very well could've been just a warning shot, but they still attacked us..." Coolmon mused, before she nodded at the Wizardmon. "Then a direct approach it is. I don't know how I feel about approaching a camp of Deva enthusiasts, though." Aya cleared her throat.
"Pardon me, but...I don't think I'm aware of what specifically the Devas are. I've read they're essentially the hands of the Sovereign, right? So we can dismiss them being the real thing, considering...I don't think they'd need to hole up here at a camp. Holly should be coming back soon, I hope, so we should see what she found and act based on that." The armored girl nodded. "Otherwise, we approach directly and try patching this up...if it can be. And barring that...Then we go in guns blazing. But that's as a last resort, okay?"

"We're not going anywhere however until Holly returns. Please keep your sensors primed though in case she gets into trouble. We may need to move in and give her backup if things go badly or she gets caught." Cross murmured crimson gaze never shifting from the camp for a second as she strained her senses for any sign that something might have gone wrong.
If something happened to Holly because she took a false mission that Cas herself had posted she's fairly certain her brother might very well skin her alive.

"Yeah, dunno if these are those Devas either. If they were related to the Sovereigns I think we would have noticed: their energy signature would probably be through the roof." Carlos mused, after all the things he had heard about the recent Sovereign sightings were...let's just about as subtle as something that was revered as a God would be. It would only make sense that their Devas would be on a similar level. By contrast these were significantly less impressive, at least at a glance.
But then again, stranger things had occured before, so it was probably wise not to dismiss that possibility entirely just yet. That said, they were still pretty much stuck in their place for the time being, at least until Holly came back...or the camp spotted her.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there, let's wait just a bit longer for her." The man said, looking at the camp somberly. Did he want to avoid unecessary conflict? Or was he simply worried for Holly? It was hard to say, but both possibilities were about as likely. Dio however, could not have made his intentions clearer.
"If they so much as look at her funny I'll rend them apart." It would be an understatement to say he cared a great deal for her nieces.

"I say, something catch your eye, Hawkmon?"
"Hard to say." The bird gave a chuckle, as Holly slipped out of view - playing it off as if nothing had happened. "The cat used a few clones earlier, right? Hardly worth our time chasing a phantom."
"Hm..." But was it really that simple? Somehow, Holly would manage to slip right back the way she came, edging across the edge of the camp through the darkness, and even make her way back through the group. It was best that she try not to chance eavesdropping at the front again, especially with the Hawkmon alert to her presence. With that, as she came back, she'd be able to relay everything that she found.
The species of Digimon there, including the otherwise-unseen Bull deva. The tamer, with his partner Hawkmon, the strange red ball around the bird, and something about making a second ball. Wizardmon would ask for a bit more information in regards to that last detail, and slowly try and piece the narrative together.
"Hm... I wonder..." The Wizardmon gave a sigh. "The Devas' comments are a bit curious, as if they were expecting at least one of us to be here. Could it be that one of them submitted the mission to the guild in the first place? No... no, if it was just the mission, it wouldn't add up..."
"Well, that's not the only thing..." The Datamon blinked, data scanning past his lens. "Red ball, Devas, outright loyalty... its a bit archaic, but the Sovereign of the Dark Area's a strange one. These Digimon were all originally his servants - and the Phoenix's spheres are red."
"Wait, that's what we're going with?" Moeru tilted his head. "Its a Sovereign. How likely is that even to be the case?"

Holly found herself frowning and shook her head. She didn't think that anyone here was the one that gave out the mission. The fact that the devas comments were the focus of scrutiny also made her wonder if they were just talking like that to lead them on somewhere.
"I doubt that they would of been the ones to submit stuff like that. The mission itself was left vague for a reason right? Wait wait."
Holly found her blinking lightly at the idea of the fact that the Phoenix's spheres were red. She felt her data run cold and slowly some things sort of clicked into place. Perhaps that's why the mon could see her so easily even with her training, perhaps that was what was with the red balls. She'd bite her lower lip and then bring up a finger to rub at her chin.
"Given the circumstances we can't say if they are or if they aren't. For safety reason we should assume that they are, which puts us in a bit of a bind doesn't it? We don't know the level of capability a sovereign would have. Suffice to say those that we do know of are the supposed Deva's down there. I don't expect a full on fight to go well but... Tch. We might not have a choice. The fact that they're looking for someone is odd but also something that they could be talking about to just throw us off. They knew we were coming in some capacity, had scouts of their own. How do you guys want to go about this?"
Holly turned her head to stare quietly at the other team members. Cracking her knuckles lightly and biting down on the inside of her cheek. She didn't know much about Sovereigns but if there was one down there what the heck was it doing in the middle of no where?

Both Carlos and the twins let out a sigh of sheer relief (Gio admittedly only doing so because the other two had) as the black feline returned to the group unscathed, though the intel she came back with, while not entirely substantial was enough to get the man more than slightly concern. It would seem as there was the possibility were expecting them, and that they were either led by or in cahoots with an elderly human.
The man was at a loss really, not quite sure what to make of any of this info, or what it could all mean for them and the mission.
"Why would they submit the mission to begin with? They should be well organized and capable on their own, why bring a different team? Something doesn't add up..." The demon mused, just as puzzled as the rest, though his brother didn't seem nearly as bothered, or intrigued. If anything he seemed more confused by everyone else's confusion. Why were they thinking so hard about this anyway? That wouldn't solve the mission faster!
"Well, if it turns out they really wanna fight us, we just beat them all up! Easy peasy." Gio shrugged, clearly not aware of the predicament of the situation.
"It won't be "easy peasy" if they're actually the Devas." Carlos shook his head, staring at the camp with a feeling of unease. Were they really cut out for a fight against such a thing? They didn't even have much of an advantage in numbers anymore... "Well, we can't really go back at this point right? And if they are expecting us then a surprise attack doesn't seem like it would make that much of a difference, so I think we should just figure out now if we go in guns blazing or try for a less aggressive approach. Any ideas?"

Mikemon would not forgive her if she killed and or damaged his daughter and while Holly admittedly set Cross on edge the cat did not know her real identity and she wasn't inclined to harm her Niece. K would likely also be upset if she were to harm Dio, Carlos, and their newest tagalong. The Datamon and Wizardmon would be a loss of contacts in her varied information network that would hurt, but she could live with. Ayaka and Coolmon though...well she wasn't exactly in favor of killing kids and unless she managed to restrain them all and modify all their memories, tricky when it came to humans in the digital world killing off her team wasn't a palpable option. Even if she could have faked that the Deputymon and Trainer had gone rogue due to the D-virus and killed them all, faked her own death, and disappeared like smoke on a cloudy day. She could likely even frame the Deva's below and kill two birds with one stone.
Cross considered the options before her with the mechanical coldness she'd long ago come to associate with her more Reaperfied instincts. The part of her that was all logic and manipulation and didn't care how much blood and data she spilled so long as the end suited the means. Yet the digichrome crest that hung about her neck by a thin platinum chain hidden beneath her robes weighed heavy against her chest. She'd died for this world. She'd died for these people and mons even if they would never know it. She'd fought for them, killed for them, thrown herself bodily into the sky with nothing, but desperation and a heretics prayer on bloody lips if it meant saving them.
They didn't know she was their savoir. They didn't know she was Cas. They would never know if she had her way, but inevitably she knew that eventually they would learn that 'Cross' was Reaper-X depending on how subtle or unsubtle Lee was and she knew that she'd likely need to burn this identity and retreat quickly once things were said and done. Even if her mission partners were good people her identity as Reaper-X was still sitting on the Top-Ten Most Wanted individuals in the Digital world and that was only what certain individuals were publicly willing to pay. She had no reservations about how much individuals with 'private interest' might be willing to shell out for information on the Tamernet myth. She took so many precautions for a reason.
"I think retreating is a perfectly reasonable idea. I don't know about you, but the mission contractor paid me to come out here and investigate, not to die. I say we say hello all reasonable like and if they so much as twitch at us wrong we bolt." Cross suggested her voice curt and more then a little surly with the annoyance of someone who didn't like being tricked by their employer and sure as hell wasn't going to die for this sort of nonsense. More importantly though she had no intention of letting her team die for it either. She'd hired them as a smokescreen, not as sacrificial lambs.

Well, that report certainly put the notion that they were possibly dealing with something a little bit stronger than they had expected in Aya and Coolmon's heads. Again, the tamer and the digimon put their hands under their chins. "...We'd have a difficult fight ahead of us they really -are- the Devas." Aya noted. "So, a retreat after saying hi would be advisable--I don't think I want to deal with that today. Not that I'm doubting how strong we are...But still. Less trouble, right?"
Coolmon made a hmmm in response. "...So what's stopping them from just attacking us as we approach? They know we're here. They know we're coming. While we -can- approach...It's super risky." She concluded. "Then it's a risk we'll need to take." Aya then stated, quite firmly.
