[IS 1] Conflict of Interest
|

"Well... well... Aren't you an interesting squad?"
The series of events that had led this group of human and digimon to this particular alley in Powder Island was definitely an interesting one. Right now, however, they were stuck. They needed a game changer to get closer to their objective. The search for Astrivia had begun. A series of messages had been issued around Whitewater and they all seemed to lead here. In the newspapers, on the radio, and even in posters spread throughout the city, messages from an entity known as ' The Midnight Blizzard' indicated that there was something of interest for those who searched for Astrivia in Powder Island. The messages were rather cryptic and it required an intelligence fairly above average to understand them and actually follow them here. However, once they had gotten to Powder Island, finding 'The Midnight Blizzard' or any clue about Astrivia had proven to be a lot harder. At least until this voice raised their attention. A Petermon sitting over a fence played with a knife, leering at the group and shifting his glance towards the blade now and then, exchanging these between the group and the item in his hand. "I overheard you were looking for someone. Finding The Midnight Blizzard is a lot harder than you might think of, isn't it? Gororo~" His voice was like the one of a teenager even if he spoke with authority. He mustered a mischievous smile, the knife spinning over his index finger. "The digimon here don't really know much about them. They are an evasive figure." He added. "Luckily for you, I've got exactly the lead you need." The digimon leaped down, standing in front of the group. His sole presence was imposing. He seemed to have calculated everything he was doing. A poster was handed at them. "There.""Goonberg Company. The experts in deep-sea exploration." Could be read. "I'm sure you've heard about them. They were a company in charge of exploring abysses and finding all types of lost items or treasures hidden in the deep sea. Initially, you could just call them and hire their services. But some years ago, they just... disappeared. No one knew where they were and their clients weren't able to reach them any longer. Many said that they had gone bankrupt and just stopped working. Guess what? They didn't." The Petermon started walking around the group. "You know the Digimon Navy? They are the strongest law enforcers in the Southern Tropics. They are in charge of protecting the safety of the Digital World in high seas and their surroundings. The reason because Goonberg stopped working and just disappeared from everywhere is because they were hired by the Digimon Navy, who wanted to be their sole clients. As you can imagine, they paid a good chunk of money. Now Goonberg is a secret organization that works exclusively for the Navy." That was sure a lot of information. Although it was likely the group couldn't help but wonder where was this mysterious digimon going with all of this. "Why did the Digimon Navy hire Goonberg?" The digimon mustered another smile. "Because they are looking for Astrivia too. And after completing expeditions through the whole sea during years, the Digimon Navy knew Goonberg had found information about the ancient city, and they wanted all of it." The importance of this whole story was about to be revealed then. "It's fairly obvious if you want to get closer to Astrivia, getting your hands in Goonberg's archives is a must. The information inside of those must be worth millions. Everyone knows they are hiding something." Now, he let out a sigh. "I know, I know, it's an extremely risky move. But, after all, you're in the eye of the storm already. Because Goonberg's headquarters are located inside this very island, Gororo ~"A game changer. Would the crew take this lead? They didn't have much to lose, but this one seemed like a hard task right off the bat. "If you're willing to try this, I can give you the information you need for you to have at least some teeny-tiny change at succeeding." OOC: Kayo! Welcome to your plot, Imminent Storm.
This is not, by any means, a static plot. Everything is going to be constantly changing according to the decisions you make! Although for plot convenience and in order to give you a little push I have established the first objective for your crew (Obtaining Goonberg's archives, in this case) all of your actions and decisions will determine how the plot moves on and whether that objective changes or not. Alliances, friendships, and gruesome battles: in Set Sail for Astrivia your objectives and the roads you take to achieve those objectives will change according to how YOU want it and the decisions YOU make.
So, enjoy the ride! ~
With love, Erika.

These days an armored personnel character was Silence's preferred method of transportation, but the M1126 was not well known for its buoyancy. At the coast, Tadayoshi crammed himself into the cockpit of Submarimon, who guided him to Powder Island. Of course, there was a little conversation on the way such as, "Treasure hunting doesn't seem like our usual kind of job. We help people. How will this help people?"
"For starters, finding the city would be a grand archeological discovery-"
"-whose expedition is led by questionable people-"
"-though we're well aware being a criminal doesn't necessarily entail being unethical, not to mention that clearing some names would do them good."
"And if this all proves to be a setup? Or something more sinister? Or a wild goose chase?"
"We'll see if there's any kind of bounty on 'Erika' and go from there."
Once back on land, the 16-year-old Japanese native in cargo shorts and casual white T-shirt, backpack over his shoulders, walked alongside a Commandramon with a G36C, armor and body camouflage that fit the tropical environment, and one heck of a skeptical scowl after rendezvousing with familiar faces Alan and Levi as well as less familiar hired help, Viktor and Genesis. "The Midnight Blizzard. Never trust someone who won't give their real name." "Are you new here, captain?" "We were protecting ourselves." "Maybe they are, too."
That was about when the party had been approached by some Petermon. While Commandramon watched and listened quietly, Tadayoshi became skeptical and showed it by crossing his arms. Why would a shady stranger by chance both know and reach out to help? Yoshi took the poster and read it out loud for the others' benefit as well as showed it to them. "Goonberg Company: the experts in deep sea exploration. No, I've never heard of it. You guys?" he asked of his companions.
While the Petermon twirled his knife and walked around the group, Commandramon didn't back down. He made sure Petermon noticed him clicking his safety off even if his muzzle was still pointed downward for the moment. Only when Tadayoshi was finally able to sneak a word in edgewise did he speak, though first it was to his companions, not the Petermon. "I welcome your input on all of this," he began, "but I smell something wrong here." What was it? He was about to let the Petermon know. "You want something in return. You don't strike me as the charitable kind. Besides, you haven't explained how any of this will help us locate or identify the Blizzard... or why you're talking to us in the first place. Or who you are, for that matter."

The sun blazed in the cloudless sky, bearing down its warmth on the waters below. Waves crashed violently against the bow of the ship as it cut through the currents, it ferried only two passengers. A human and a Renamon. Two parents who’ve been on the hunt. Two hunters that had been following a lead for sometime, one they picked up just after meeting Shade. The clues were cryptic, the leads were dead, the rumors were false. But they kept pressing on, they kept their eyes on this Midnight Blizzard and eventually, they found their lead to Powder Island. ‘Island’ was a generous term. Viktor preferred ‘rock formation’ as it was little bigger than a city. But they were on to something;
”We’re almost there. How’s your head?”
”Still attached. Mind is clear too. Let’s take this one easy, hmm?”
Genesis nodded and smiled, tapping her Renamon on his slender back, ”Just don’t ask me not to poke a little fun at them~”
Viktor only shook his head as the ship finally began to dock. They paid their fare, and headed to the meeting point. The two had come prepared for anything, and Viktor, despite being relatively new to being a Digimon, could hold the Mega for a good while now. At least, he could theory. Each form held it’s own requirements, and like when he took Taomon, he knew when he was ready. But he had yet to take the form of Mega itself.
Eventually, Viktor and Genesis approached, not making an entrance or even so much as greeting anyone. One moment there would be nothing and the next... there they stood. Genesis only giving a cocky grin while Viktor stood, watching and assessing those who’ve shown thus far. Taking note and keeping it to himself. Furthermore, he very quickly realized they were being watched by a third party. No mention of this Digimon and yet... here he stood.
”Leaks... good.” he mumbled to himself.
The Petermon began to speak about their exact mission, and some company that supposedly went out of business. About their whole objective. But was truly off putting wasn’t so much that he knew, it was his attempt to be imposing. This was only met with a curious eye from the fox... surely he didn’t think to intimidate them? Viktor couldn’t suppress his power like Genesis could... The Petermon would be able to sense at least an ultimate level Digimon from Viktor. Perhaps that was the point? He continued, speaking of the Navy and explaining where to find their documents.
”You mean the same Navy that was almost decimated by the Devas? Or Deva I should say. Some enforcers!”
Viktor slapped her shoulder, to which she rubbed her arm and looked over; ”Right... things are better than they were. Stronger Navy. We’re scared.”
Viktor spoke, his arms still crossed and his mind skeptical, ”I agree with the child. What are you to gain from this? A cut? Your name in the findings?” he didn’t even bother facing the Petermon as he circled. A clear indicator he didn’t think too much of his imposing display.
This was not how Viktor wanted to start this mission. But, he supposed, he had little choice. Viktor wanted only one thing out of this:
Super Mega.

The blonde-haired boy and his small, draconic friend in a grey ivy cap had arrived via the vessel of a hooded ferryman. "Pleasure doin' business with ya!" he waved as the pair stepped onto land. "You don't have to wait here, you know," called the Veemon back to him.
"Oh, nonsense!" insisted the chipper figure. "What sorta honest business would I be running if I left you stranded here?"
"I appreciate the thought," said the human, "But we can just take a shortcut back through the human world." Alan held up his digivice: a D-3, colored blue, white, and accented with gold.
"If you say so..."
The ferryman seemed almost dejected at having to make the trip back unaccompanied. "He was really nice..." the tamer and digimon agreed. "...but we still need to be able to travel without needing to pay people one day."
A short walk onto shore would bring them close to a few faces, some familiar and some not. But before they could respond, the company was practically ambushed with information from a surprisingly loose-lipped informant.
"Woah, woah, woah, hold on!" Alan tried to interrupt. "First of all, put the knife down, Mister Pan. Second of all, you forgot to say 'for a price.' Third of all, I'm fairly certain we were supposed to be looking for some place no one's ever found before, and immediately we get you talking to us like you're certain where and what clues we'll find. Is this a hunt or some kind of Alternate Reality Game?" Levi put a hand on Alan's leg. "Excuse him. He gets set off easily when he doesn't get to figure things out for himself. We appreciate the information. You were saying?"

Right now, the Petermon seemed legitimately amused by all of the questions and… strange comments being thrown his way. He decided to tackle those, one by one, before proceeding with his explanation. Before doing this, he crossed his arms and leaned against one of the dirty walls at the alley. “I’m afraid you are mistaking the Digimon Navy as an organization. I don’t recall any incident with a Deva. And trust me, I’ve been around long enough.” That, was for Genesis. Regarding Alan and Levi… “I didn’t forget anything. There is no price.” His eyes widened a bit at the last part of the boy’s statement. “That’s an interesting point of view. I think this is a hunt. And the information I’m giving you is not something that anyone except for those in my crew know about. So it is pretty valuable.”
Oddly enough, the fact that it was valuable didn’t mean he was about to charge something for it. That much would become clear now that he was about to tackle the questions coming from Tadayoshi and Viktor, which were honestly not that different. “I suggest you forget about finding the Midnight Blizzard right now.” He raised his gaze, looking at the clear morning sky. “As for this moment, I don’t even know where she is. Whether those messages she issued around Whitewater were related to this potential lead I’m giving you or not, I can’t actually know the answer. She’s always been the mysterious kind.” He let out a sigh. “That’s why you should focus on the lead I am offering.” He added. He wasn’t really annoyed by the group wanting to find Midnight, but it did seem like he saw that individual as a rival. “About who I am… I am a Pirate. A Treasure Hunter, to be a bit more specific. I know our name has been tainted for centuries and this might make you trust me even less but… in the end, I am your only lead, am I not?” He scoffed as he started to walk to a side again, just roaming around the alley. “About what I gain from this?” A predatory smile could be seen drawing even a bit above the mask that covered his mouth, him turning towards the group. “Chaos.” He simply said. A pause ensued. “The absence of order is what I live for. Seeing Goonberg and the Digimon Navy being robbed by two different groups of pirates, connected by the single string that is you. That would be absolutely amazing.” The pirate’s eyes glimmered just from him saying this. He seemed to be enjoying the sole fact of thinking that might happen. The potentially chaotic outcome that this could have seemed enough for him to be interested in this endeavor. Now that all of these doubts had been cleared off, the Petermon decided to move forward to explain the rest of the job to the group. Even if his previous answers could only raise some more questions, the group wouldn’t get a chance to get an answer to those. “Now listen closely, because I’m not going to repeat myself.” For the first time, the pirate stood at the center of the group of humans and digimon. “I’m not going to lie to you: your chances don’t look good.” His tone of voice had turned a lot more serious now, although he seemed interested in the group getting the best results. “Now that Goonberg belongs to the Digimon Navy, their security protocols have been heavily upgraded. They have employed a lot more of digimon to protect their headquarters. Although you seem strong, you shouldn’t be going in expecting to engage in direct combat.” For this next sentence, he looked directly at Genesis and Viktor. “Listen to me as I cannot stress this enough: You will not win on a direct fight against these guys. Even if you manage to steal the documents that way, starting your trip being a most wanted criminal will put you in an extremely bad position. Right now, everyone is trying to keep a low profile, because that’s what will get you far enough. Being chased by the strongest military force in the ocean will get your ship sank in a couple of days. The key of this job is getting in, getting the documents, and getting out without the Navy knowing who actually robbed them.”Hopefully, that was clear enough. “Speaking about ships: I heard the Navy has been sending confiscated ships to Goonberg for them to use them in their expeditions. It is likely that there are some good vessels in the docks of their headquarters. You should try getting into one of those to escape, once you have the documents. After this, you'll be able to keep it, which is definitely a win.” The pirate took another pause to provide the rest of the information. “Now, in order for you to be able to pull this off without you ending up in the most wanted lists of the navy, you’ll need a bait, a decoy.” With a swift movement of his arm, the Petermon hurled his knife at one of the walls, the blade sticking to it immediately. The dagger was holding two small, rectangular cards against the wall. One of them was black, with a red missile drawn on it. The other one was red, with a black skull with bats as a design. “… those will get you close to a couple of pirate crews who are already wanted by the navy. They are dangerous guys, and they are planning to steal from Goonberg too, just like you. They are both looking for allies to work with them in their heist. With those invitation cards, they’ll take at least be willing to let you join them. They hate each other, so they working together is not a possibility. The Rocket Pirates are big, massive digimons specialized in war tactics and combat; they have the vehicles and the weapons for these types of tasks, although their approach might be too aggressive. The Dusk Pirates are smaller digimon, specialized in stealth; they are not fans of fighting and their antics could probably be useful for this endeavor, although maybe the fact that they are not prepared for combat is a huge flaw in their scheme.”Finishing his speech, the hatted digimon started walking away from the group. “How to proceed from here on is completely up to you. Pick which of the two you want to ally with and pay them a visit. You’re a big group, so maybe you want to send some of you to some group and some to the other and play double agent? That sounds risky, but intriguing. Remember they have the same objective that you do, and they’ll think you’ll be working for them. So when the time comes, you’ll have to betray them to keep the documents, or maybe you can find a way of negotiating with them?”
Right now, the possibilities were infinite. And the Petermon seemed to be thriving for that. “It Is definitely going to be something fun to watch, no doubt. Gororo~”
With this, a gust of wind blew and the Petermon just vanished in front of their eyes. If the group approached the cards and read them, they would find an address written in each of them. Rocket Pirates. Powder Island, Dock # 2. Approach the shortest of the trees.
Dusk Pirates. Powder Island. The Lost Droplet Bar.
Inventory:
-Rocket Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Waiting...] -Dusk Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Waiting...] OOC:
Inventory The inventory shows what interesting or important items any member of the crew has at any time. Right next to the name of the item, you will find what type of item it is and who in the crew has it. If it hasn't been decided yet who took the item after being handed to the crew, the words 'waiting...' will appear. If an item is showed in the inventory, it means you can take your time to look at it closely or use it in any kind of situation. The fact that an item is in your inventory probably means you're going to need it. So don't forget to check the crew's inventory every time you have to make a decision or don't know what to do. You might have the item you need right there!

"Did that guy seem untrustworthy to anyone else?" Tadayoshi crossed his arms and scowled, but it didn't accomplish a whole lot. Petermon, after all, had already vanished.
"Do we have any choice?"
"Going home is always a choice." As Tadayoshi stepped up to the wall which now contained two knives, he sighed and decided, "But that 'mon did claim there's something tangible in it for us if this isn't a trap: one free ship, courtesy of the Digimon Navy."
"Submarimon isn't ideal as a manned vessel."
"Not even a little bit." Tadayoshi seemed to agree with that very emphatically. Which crew? Which crew? Well, splitting up seemed wrong. If the two crews clashed, Yoshi and co could get caught in the crossfire either figuratively or literally. "Is anyone here scared of ending up on a Most Wanted list?"
Commandramon pointed out, "The city of Luminas probably isn't thrilled we took their money and never brought back their fugitive."
"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about that." After darting his eyes between the two knives a couple of times, he plucked one from the wall with a good hard tug. "Well, this is an easy choice at least. Not being known is always the better option. If they can't fight? Well, we sure as heck can. We'll compliment each other. Hold this." Tadayoshi held the knife and Dusk Pirates card out toward Alan and Levi. "Here's what's about to happen: we're going to join these Dusk folks, use them for our own purposes, and get gone. Getting in anonymously is obviously the better way to go, not to mention I'd rather double-cross people who can't fight over people who can. Heck, if we're lucky, the oafs might just show up at the same time and draw the all the fire." He turned heel. "I suppose we're off to the bar. Viktor, Genesis, maybe we can actually get to know each other a bit on the way."
The matter settled, Tadayoshi and the soldier turned and headed for the Lost Droplet. It seemed like a safe assumption that his crew would follow him, so he didn't look back. After all, why wouldn't they? They were invited by him. This was his show, so he thought. He hired them. Viktor and Genesis sure carried themselves like professionals in particular, so while they had less trust than Alan and Levi per se he felt confident they wouldn't just disobey.

If this were any other mission, any other time, Viktor would have walked away. There were quite a few red flags already; The unknown third party having a vested interest in their mission, his cryptic answers, his even more bizarre motives. But... he needed this. He needed to push himself into that next step. Into that ascension once again. Kajunemon was on the cusp, that feeling of raw power slowly returning. Pulling away from fights and experience wasn’t how he’d achieve his goal.
On top of the red flags, Viktor wasn’t a fan of theatrics. The Petermon only garnered a tired sigh from the once human fox, who had seen this a thousand times before. Genesis almost laughed at his vanishing and then placed a hand on her hip;
”Well at least he smells nice.”
It was clear how little the Petermon actually knew, which was concerned the information he passed to the crew. If he didn’t know about something as large as the Devas, how could he be trusted to know anything else. This was confirmed when he looked to a duo who was known for infiltration and told them they wouldn’t survive a fight head-on.
Viktor rolled his eyes and shook his head, turning to Tadayoshi as he spoke up, asking if the man was trustworthy. Viktor wouldn’t answer, and instead continued to listen. His ears perked a tad as he heard about Luminas, as city that he was well versed with and had a lot of trouble. Not that that mattered anymore.
His bounties were useless now, given that the city had no government to enforce it. Viktor could have explained this, but it was irrelevant, they needed to focus on the here and now. The fox would follow them to the docks, moving as silently as he approached.
Genesis, on the other hand, was not so silent. She smiled to Tadayoshi and the Commandramon; ”Good luck! Viktor isn’t exactly an open book.”
Viktor would stop and turn to the human, speaking concisely; ”Perhaps we should split. While these Dusk pirates cannot fight, I doubt the Rockets will likely let us walk away either. I will take Genesis and we will join the Rockets, then when it is time to strike, we will hit them both.”
Genesis leaned, crossing her arms and chuckling, ”That’s his suggestion of course. My partner here is pretty strong. He can handle himself against the Rockets. But, this is your show, friendo.”
This was angled at Levi and Alan as well. Whatever they were going to do, they needed to have a solid, step-by-step plan to infiltrate, take their assets and leave before anyone knew what was going on. Otherwise, they might as well just attack outright.

Alan blinked in mild astonishment as his train of though was interrupted by being casually given a knife to hold. "Uh, okay..." He stood for a few more seconds, nibbling through his lips at one of his knuckles, until he had decided that he should speak up. "I agree that pirates specializing in stealth would be perfect for a stealth mission, but just a reminder: specializing in stealth may mean they're not good at fighting, but all that means is they strike first to ensure they don't have to. These two crews didn't get to be rivals for nothing. That's all."
"But I was going to suggest that splitting up would have benefits, too!" interjected the Veemon. "There are all sorts of opportunities for... chaos! Like that guy said! We could betray everyone and get away with the stuff in the confusion! Of course, we'd have a lot of details to work out so we don't get confused ourselves... eh heh heh."
"In any case, Levi and I'll be going with you like you said, Tadayoshi. I think we've got a good setup here." With that, they headed off with the army, monologuing quietly to himself as he walked: "Chaos... it's not a noble objective in the least, but it's simple. It's honest. Ah, I think I'm going to enjoy this, too..."

"I don't like splitting up," was Tadayoshi's knee-jerk reaction to the proposition, "Why do we have to worry about both? We don't even know that the Rockets and the Dusk intend to raid the archives at the same time." But Tadayoshi stopped walking for a moment as the lightbulb in his head went off. "Sir?"
"We're taking a fifty-fifty chance choosing one crew. If the other beats us there - and they're successful - we might be left with nothing."
Commandramon saw where this was going and spoke up to complete Tadayoshi's thought. "But by manipulating both crews, someone is bound to get the job done."
"So, if we stay in radio contact-"
"-we can all be aware of the other crew's moves, both before and during the raid."
"And I suppose we'll be ticking off the same number of pirates in the end, like Viktor said." Tadayoshi turned to face the others directly and amended his earlier orders. "Since you're volunteering, you'll be the ones to join the Rockets. Go back and get their card. I guess this means we won't get to chat on the way after all." And as for Alan and Levi? "No disrespect to you two, but I'd feel better if you came with us. Levi, I haven't seen you fight directly, but I have seen you take care of yourself in one chaotic battlefield."

It seemed Viktor misjudged Tadayoshi, this younger leader, who was saying everything right. While he didn’t directly speak it, these were thoughts Viktor shared. Two pronged attacks could lead to a much more... efficient result, if done correctly. Of course, that was easier said than done. Alan and Levi also made valid points, but... Viktor kept his disagreements to himself, for now.
”Okay,” Viktor spoke as Tadayoshi ordered. Normally speaking, he wasn’t a joiner and scoffed at orders given, but he knew that in order for this operation to flow smoothly, the fox needed to do this. He quickly walked back and collected the card, flipping it in his hand then handing it to Genesis, who pocketed it, ”We will be in contact. If we need to take the ship, so be it.”
Genesis leaned and looked over the other team; ”We have our missions, then. Viktor and I will join the Rockets and keep you informed.”
Viktor held a gloved hand up”We need breakaway words. Phrases to let the other team know that they’re approaching the objective or to abandon ship.”
Genesis nodded, then chuckled, ”Maybe all this coming hard work will get Viktor finally to achieve Kajunemon again!”
Viktor rolled his eyes, ”If there’s nothing else? Relay those words over the communicators.”
Genesis would wave as the two collected their bags and headed to the meet point for the Rockets. The teams had their missions, they knew what was expected of them. It was up to them to execute it right.

Alan snapped his fingers and pointed at Commandramon excitedly. "Yes! That! He said it better than I could have!" He seemingly had failed to notice that both the soldier and the general both came to the conclusion in unison.
Levi lightly kicked the ground and folded his hands behind his back, glancing downwards in response to hearing the extent of what Tadayoshi had to say to them. "D'aw, I'm happy you took notice! And don't worry-" both the human and the dragon stood in a simultaneous salute. "We'd feel better if we came with you, too!"
The only issue that remained before they would follow Tadayoshi's group was the question of code phrases in communication. "Well, if I may suggest," started Alan, "In this book I read once, the main character had an agreement with a captain that if he sent a message with anything other than the exact words, 'everything is ship-shape,' then that would mean something is wrong. But I'm sure we can work something out amongst ourselves later."

Apparently, the option that granted greater chances at success was also the most dangerous. Was that possible? the recently formed crew had decided to find out. They were going to both The Lost Droplet and Dock # 2 to talk to the two groups of pirates interested in stealing Goonberg’s files.
Walking towards the southern side of Powder Island, Genesis and Viktor would eventually get to the docks. Unlike the rest of the small citadel inside the island, most of the buildings were made of wood. Most of them were small huts where fisherman digimon seemed to live. The roads were lonely and only the crashing waves smashing the shoreline could be heard across the whole area. Each dock was located along one hundred meters from one another. They were very simple in nature, a wooden platform with a white rectangle made from an unidentifiable substance that seemed to hold ship’s anchors. The human and her Renamon would start walking the shoreline from the western side, so they would pass by each dock from the highest number (which would be the sixth) to the lowest. Once they got to the dock with a wooden sign that had the number two written on it on digimoji, they would know this was the place. A fairly small ship was anchored to the dock, while a small hut could be found by the end of the platform, some meters away from the shore. Around this house, many long palm trees could be seen. For some reason, the coconuts at the top had a bright, red color. Some type of very unique fruit from the Digital World, apparently. ‘Do not touch the coconuts.’ A sign could be read, next to the door of the hut. What should the duo look for around this dock, exactly?
Getting to the lost droplet wouldn’t be very hard. Although it was fairly away from the back alley where they had met that Petermon, many signs around Powder Island seemed to have arrows pointing in the bar’s direction. Apparently, it was a fairly popular place for both tourists and residents. If the group decided to ask any digimon, they would also point them there quite easily. Everyone knew the bar; everyone knew where it was. Upon getting there, they could start realizing why. The place was absolutely enormous. It was like a palace made of stone, except it was fairly obvious it was some sort of tavern. From outside, one could see the light of firing chandeliers just by looking at the windows, which gave the whole place a kind of medieval vibe. Once they entered, it wouldn’t be different. Digimon singing and playing songs with different types of instruments on one side, some others sitting around a table, drinking and telling stories. The place was as lively as it could get. And even if it was not nighttime and it wasn’t even close to being at its prime, it was fairly full! Which was amazing, considering how big it was. A set of stairs by the end of that level seemed to lead to the upper floors, while another set of stairs seemed to lead underground. Although the latter set was blocked by a couple of WereGarurumons, wearing brown hats and coats. If Tadayoshi, Alan, and the rest had to guess, they would say the wolves were part of the security staff of the bar, considering there were many scattered around the establishment, dressed the exact same way. At the eastern side of the place, a pretty crowded counter. There were so many people placing orders it was even hard to see who the bartender was. So many possibilities… What would they do? Inventory: -Rocket Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Genesis] -Dusk Pirates Card. [Crucial item] [Alan]

With the help of Silence's own navigation and a couple directions from the locals, the General and team did not have an issue getting where he wanted to be. Along the way he thought of Alan's suggestion, "Let's try something we do have to say instead of something we do have to say that's easy to neglect or fail to work into conversation as an exit phrase easily in case things go bad before the call can be made. Let's go with..." It took a little thinking, but his conclusion which he announced over the comms was, "'...under control.' If someone says 'under control,' it's time to get out. Say it twice as a discreet distress signal, too."
But the place wasn't the seedy tavern Tadayoshi had expected. The Droplet was unexpectedly upscale - and packed. "This is a pirate's den?" "Have you ever known a pirate to turn down a drink?" "Fair point." So much ground to cover, though - and no sign of the crew, at least from a first glance from the outside. "Alan, Levi, head upstairs and look around. My team will take this floor. Oh, and... try not to look too innocent." Tadayoshi faced his Xros Loader away from himself. "Renamon! Angel! Jetmon! Jekyll! Hyde! MetalKoromon! Deploy!" That command caused five digimon to appear before the General. "Here," was a female Renamon's curt response.
"Boss!" an enthusiastic female BlackTerriermon exclaimed.
"Sir," a female Jetmon stiffly answered.
"Yes, sir!" one male Rocketmon politely resounded. "What's up?" a second male Rocketmon more grumpily replied. The MetalKoromon, eight of them, didn't speak, but they each beeped once in sequence. At a different pitch. "MetalKoromon, sir?" Commandramon questioned. "They'll have a special job. Everybody, take one with you. Alpha, you're with us." The tiny MetalKoromon levitated into Commandramon's hand only to be stuffed in the one of many pockest. Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, and Foxtrot, each joined Renamon, Angel, Jetmon, and Jekyll and Hyde respectively to wind up stealthfully stashed away in a backpack or, in Angel's case, under an ear. That left Gulf and Hotel awaiting Alan and Levi to do what they would. "We'll all canvas the place, listen in, get to know the locals, try to find our crew. Something tells me they won't just introduce themselves, though - they are the quiet ones, after all. So we'll plant bugs on people we find 'interesting.' These small MetalKoromon can stick to someone without being noticed, and their antennas can transmit the content of their conversation as airwaves straight to my Xros Loader. Just don't be seen planting one. Let's go."
Walking inside, Silence split up. The captain stuck dutifully by his General's side as they picked the most crowded table. "May we join?" the captain asked as a mere formality before snapping his fingers and calling, "Round of terabyte tequila over here!" Hey, who couldn't be bought with a little booze? The WereGarurumon security, possibly. So Renamon took a different approach. She walked by them once, trying to use her natural vixen beauty to get their attention but pass it off as innocent. A minute later, she would attempt to walk straight between them asking, "The bathroom is past here, right, handsome?" though not too aggressively; she'd stop cooperatively if told. That was OK, too; maybe the guards would tell her what really was down there in the process. Angel made for the counter, crowd be damned. That little bunny was unafraid to push and shove her way to the front so she could hopefully shout across the ruckus, "Gimme a nice, tall glass of whatever will get me the drunkest the fastest!" That, Yoshi knew, wasn't just for the sake of the mission. Jetmon seemed to prefer wandering, listening instead of speaking, hanging around in one corner for a bit, then another. Jekyll and Hyde mostly kept to themselves, too, wandering among the middle of the place. "It's rather noisy in here..."
"I know! Isn't it great?"
"Well the music is wonderful!" Jekyll felt the need to stop a moment and admire the musical digimon, and Hyde being the dutiful brother he was stayed by his side.
And now... we listen.

As the two walked along the shoreline, they began counting down... they were looking for "two". All the while Tadayoshi was explaining the word he wished to use. The large amount of radio space taken was enough to warrant Viktor chiming in:
"Just the word, next time. We do not need an explanation, break" he gave a slight pause and then spoke back up, "Our call signs are-"
"Fox team!"
Viktor shot Genesis a look, who giggled as he finished a bit more disgruntled; "Fox team, out."[/b]
Genesis giggled again as the two examined the small, run down and wooden huts. Clear the ocean breeze was not kind to the dwellings. This hut was a tad different... more than the worn huts or the docks. This basic ship for someone like the Rockets? Viktor didn't think so. But that was a card he would play later. The fruit was another dead giveaway, and likely more than it appeared. But, again, this would be something Viktor would attempt later.
Genesis smiled; "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
Viktor sighed and looked over the sign warning of the coconuts' "I hate games."
The human leaned on one hip, patting her fox on his back; "Why not just call them out? They're about power right? Flex a little... but not too much. Give them a run for their money but... don't outright kill them."
Viktor sighed, shaking his head; "Calling out bandit pirates in the open seems like a surefire way to not get paid. Let's try the simple first, hmm?"
The fox raised a gloved hand and started knocking on the door, at first gently, but then with much more force. If anyone was on the other side, they would no doubt hear this entrance. But this wasn't on accident... he was already onto their shams, it was just a matter of getting in contact now.
Viktor held out his hand, which Genesis already placed the card before he could fully extend his fingers. She was on the same page... good. If this went wrong, Viktor would have a lot of fighting to do. But he was hoping otherwise, this was about getting in and fitting in, not killing the crew before anything even started.
"Hello? This the join up spot? I was told you guys were strong."
Here went nothing.

Alan frowned a bit at the suggestion for a code. "It sounds a little... too easy to work into conversation. But usually, that phrase is only used when there is reason to believe something went wrong. Guess we'll just have to be careful. Appearances?" The partners looked at each other and had to stop themselves from smiling. "Yeah, too innocent," Levi agreed as the human pulled his hood up, and all Levi could do was adjust his grey ivy cap into a lower position on his eyes. "Look like you've got someone you don't want recognizing you, but that otherwise you're just here for leisure. Now if you'll excuse us..."
They left Tadayoshi's army to do whatever they did before they had the chance to be confused. Rather excited to have a bit of free reign of their area, the pair made their way to a higher floor, trying their best to keep out of the way of others' paths, and scoping out their surroundings as they walked. "Feel free to keep up the explanations, Tadayoshi. Some of us haven't done this before," retorted Alan, implicating themselves over the communicator.
