Continued from The Last Light7:12 AM, Whitewater Medical Waiting Room.
For Dr. Mikemon, this was hardly an unfamiliar site. Despite running his own office, there were certain cases that were simply better to refer here - not to mention the fact that it was one of the few places in the Digital World that could handle extended stays for patients. There was only this, one facility in Terminus, and a handful in Luminas that fit the bill.
But today was far from an ordinary day. News of K's procedure had been kept quiet by the fox's request, but the filing still managed to cause a bit of a stir in the medical world, enough that there were a few eyes on the Renamon as she would make her way to the waiting room. Behind the scenes, preparing himself in the operating room, Mikemon double-checked his tools once more before he let out a long, exasperated sigh.
"Just two assistants. You think you'll manage?"
His ear flicked at the sound of the Stingmon, the insect himself reviewing the file. After a moment, the doctor returned a short nod. "Ideally, I wouldn't need any. But I need your eyes on me today."
"Its about the first time I've seen you in this room without an ounce of excitement in you."
"Y... yeah." He gave a sigh, shaking his head as he righted himself, before stepping out in the hall, to make what seemed like a long walk over to the waiting room. No need to call to the front desk - Mikemon would address this patient personally.

It was that morning of all things that K found herself feeling the most alive.
The strangest sensation honestly and the renamon didn't know what to make of it. She was in whitewater again, for the last time, under the care of her husband. The fact that news of her procedure had gotten around even with her desire to keep it quiet. Nothing crazy thankfully but still more people knew about it than she'd like.
The renamon took a seat in the waiting room, running her hands along her muzzle and leaning forward. The waiting was going to be the hard part. She had a lot of thinking to do about all of this, about the things she was leaving behind as the minutes ticked away.
She'd flick her ears a little bit as she waited. She had no need to talk to the others in the waiting room, even as some of them were there for more the watching portion than anything else. She'd raise her head however when she heard that familiar padding approach. Her eyes locking on her husband as he emerged from the hallway...
About that time?
There were no words that came to her, nothing she could say to comfort him. Nothing that she hadn't already said. The renamon slowly stood up, not even bothering to stretch her limbs out too much. She knew that she'd have to go through some paces before going under the 'glass' so to speak.

Maybe it was a strange sensation - or maybe, deep down, K's body was just trying to make the best of the short amount of time they had left. Where K felt alive, Mikemon already felt empty, a dull sense felt resonating through his core as he kept his focus... only to feel his heart pound in his chest as he approached the waiting room.
He opened that door, and gave a nod towards the Renamon, leading the fox into the back. Of course, they didn't go right into the operating room, but to an observation room just off to the right. There, the fox would be sat down, the Stingmon checking her vitals, making sure that the fox kept to that strict checklist yesterday.
There would be no issues. K's vitals would be within an acceptable range, and with a nod to the doctor, the insect would step off to the side, as Mikemon stepped on up.
"... Going to be honest, things are going to seem very quick from here." The doctor managed a low smile - honestly, he didn't even know where it came from - as he drew both a syringe and a black-labeled bottle from the table next to them, drawing a pink, clear solution through the needle. This was the stabilizer, a very dangerous drug in its own right. "Hold your right arm out, palm facing the ceiling. Just like that."
With a bare touch of alcohol before, the needle would sink right into a vein of her upper arm, the concoction slipping deep into her system. Almost immediately, she'd feel the difference, an incredible warmth welling up in her chest, her fur standing up on end at the shock of feeling her core halt in place. It was a drug designed to keep a Digimon in-tact, even when their very core was exposed.
It would make her feel right on edge - as if she was sitting on a set of icy pins and needles. "Well. Looks like it took well enough."

It was probably the latter of the two.
With the end approaching so quickly her body was trying to comfort her. The renamon's head shifted slightly as the door was opened; she could tell he was going to have a hard time with this judging just by the look on his face. The renamon standing up and padding after him; they eventually came to an observation room where they would check her vitals. She had adhered to everything that she had been told to the letter. The renamon thanking the stingmon for checking them before turning her head to her husband.
"Well we have a short time frame to act... but yes it will."
Her eyes sank down to the black labeled bottle, that pinkish clear solution being drawn from it. The stabilizer that was going to for the most part spell the end of her life. There was no hesitation when he told her to hold out her arm, there was very little in the way of emotion on her face. She knew what choice she had made and she would stick to it. There was no time for regrets, not at this phase.
She didn't like needles too much though, so there of course was a soft hiss as she felt it sink in and the concoction pushed into her system. It was an immediate effect, her warmth, her fur and the shock of her core halting in place. Her eyes dialated a bit and the renamon put a hand up to her head. Pins and needles, Icy and haunting. The renamon exhaled slowly, she felt good like this ironically but... She knew what it spelt for them all.
"Feels like it too."
The renamon shifted in her 'seat', sitting felt weird now and so did movement. There was a lot of things that felt weird and this was just going to get weirder for her. She wanted to hug her husband at this point, to try to get him to at least... relax a little bit she refrained. She knew too much would make this hurt more.

"Stingmon, you have the timer?"
"I'll let you know when sixty seconds has rolled by, yes." Mikemon returned a nod to the insect, and in that short span, Mikemon would return a nod to the Renamon. In those sixty seconds, K's core would fully slow down to a halt, the 'dizziness' felt in her head soon fading away to a new sense of normalcy - one that didn't feel quite right to how she was before, but felt right to the new normal in her body. Once those eyes were fully set into place, the Stingmon would give a nod, click the timer, and motion for K to follow him.
Mikemon followed right alongside the fox, turning to face her in brief, giving her a confident nod. "Less than an hour from now, that Wisemon will no longer be a concern in our lives." His eyes were now focused, even idly scanning K's core as they walked along. There could be time for hugs, love, and sadness later.
For now, the Stingmon would open the door to the operating room, and nod towards the table. As K would take a seat, Mikemon would step up right to her side.
He'd take his hand right into her's, with a confident smile, as the Stingmon would bring a clear mask to her muzzle.
"Breathe deep. Count to ten."

K flicked her ears as mikemon addressed stingmon, the renamon shifting nervously as she felt that short span start. Her core slowing, the dizziness fading, the new sense of normalcy. One that felt different than before. K blinked slowly as her eyes set into place and the renamon would stand up to follow after the stingmon.
"He had a nasty habit of intruding didn't he? But yes... I'm grateful for the fact he'll truly be gone."
K's core was as it should be considering everything, the dark patches as it was supposed to be. The small motes of light, the stoppage of her rotation. The drug had the intended effect on her and the renamon only halted in her stride when the operation table came into view. There was a lick of hesitation before she'd sit down on it. She'd squeeze his hand and return that smile before starting to count...
She'd barely get to three before she was unconscious.
Her body went limp and that grasp around mikemon's hand weakened completely before her limb fell next to her. Though of course her hand was still being gripped by the doctor so it was more like a wet noodle considering everything. The renamon looked surprisingly relaxed and at peace like this. One of the few rare times she'd be asleep when the mikemon wasn't...

There are some exciting tales to tell during surgery: nail biting moments, harsh decision making, knowing that any false move of the hand might complicate matters or send them spiraling out of control...
... But this procedure was not one of those times. Each motion was made carefully and deliberately, each incision perfect, each tool handed off with strict professionalism and precision. To those watching from the observation room, it was clear that there Stingmon and Mikemon made a perfect pair, both of them well rested and practiced for the procedure at hand. Her core was exposed, and with a mass of Mikemon's shadow tendrils piercing through, expunged fully of the Wisemon's data.
Well, over the grueling course of an hour, anyway - but K nor Silence would be conscious for a second of it. And as the morning hours grew, as the time slipped past 9:30, K would start to feel herself come to, with a harsh soreness across her chest and a mangled mane that was cut back to make room for the operation.
But that was the only sign that she would feel: the scars had long healed under Mikemon's touch. As the fox would stir awake, Mikemon would carefully take hold of the fox's hand, just giving her one nod.
"He's gone."

There was never any of that was there? Not for them. They always seemed to make the right decisions with the proper movements associated with them. She was well aware, or at least had been that her husband and his 'assistant' would do the best job that they were able.
She was under for what? An hour? And upon waking the renamon felt immediately the after effects of the surgery. A certain dryness of her mouth, dizziness from the trailing effects of the anesthetic and eventually? That sensation of touch against her hand. She'd turn her head slowly to look at him and hearing those two words the renamon deflated visibly.
"Then it's over then. We won. I presume oathgard took the data?"
K's voice sounded hoarse and tired; the renamon of course only had a scant amount of hours to live and these ones would be the saddest possible. She'd open her mouth to speak again but hearing a cutting crystal clear voice speak to her the renamon's mouth clamped shut with a brief 'tsk'.
I thought you'd be out too?
I was when you were. We wake and sleep at the same if I deign it to be so. I didn't need to be up but we have scant time here. I can't quite make it out but be prepared for something.
K shook her head and gave a small squeeze to the mikemon's hands before briefly smiling down at him. She was beyond happy in the fact she no longer had that data within her and risked having that madman come back.
"...Seems something is amiss. The world never changes does it?"

It was over - the two had won. Mikemon tightened his grip around the tired, groggy fox's hand, smiling as the first thing she asked about was the fate of that data. At this eleventh hour, though, the doctor wouldn't lie:
"The plans changed slightly - but Wisemon's data won't be a threat. Were we to simply lock it away in a totem, it might have just become a curse on some spirit wielder in the far flung future. After all, we busted into that sort of place once. But don't worry."
He gave a nod towards his wife. "The Digital World won't have to deal with his like again." He said that with confidence - and as her core gave a bit of a 'blip', Silence speaking up, the cat couldn't help but give a chuckle.
"There's always going to be something. But it seems that Silence is glad to be able to 'move' again."

K smiled softly as she felt that hand tighten around hers, at this 'darkest' moment they had finally done it. They had done what many had failed to do and she was proud of that fact. Even though she lay here, basically a broken mon they had won against someone that had stretched back much further than either of them. But the idea of him being a totem for someone... the renamon shuddered a bit.
"Let us hope he ends up with someone that is kind hearted and won't let his corrupting influence take them."
K shifted a bit at the notion that they wouldn't have to deal with someone like him again. The renamon bit her lower lip and then managed a grin as her husband addressed the fact that 'there was always something'.
"Oh she is. But it seems like she found trouble. Or is in the due proccess of finding trouble."
K chuckled lightly and slowly shifted so that her feet touched the floor, feeling a touch woozy. She'd put a hand up to her head and then sigh softly; how many hours now? Eight? Ten?
"So what now?"
K didn't know what they were going to do as she waned, but she wanted it to be something that they both could enjoy fully... Mikemon certainly deserved that much considering what had to be done to his wife.

"Here's hoping."
Mikemon gave a sigh of his own, finally taking the chance to stand up and stretch out his arms. The deed was done, and now, the two were to spend the next few hours together, and enjoy what precious time the Renamon had left. His ear gave a twitch about Silence sensing trouble, but he mostly shrugged it off, focusing more on that last question.
"Well, whatever you want to do, of course - though, if I may, you're probably starving at this point." Nothing to eat since a light lunch the previous day? Nothing to drink since last night? Sheesh! "We can hit the hospital cafeteria or head on home, whip something up - or really, anywhere you want to go."
They had a few good hours, at least - might as well spend them comfortably!

K stretched a bit and flicked her ears as her husband shared her hope in it. She'd tilt her head a little bit as he sort of shrugged off the trouble thing. Whatever she wanted to do? Well she was hungry and the renamon didn't really know what she wanted. Though silence herself had a suggestion.
Something nice, fancy, and preferably full of calories.
K blinked and voiced this, feeling a little odd taking her 'inner' self into account. Honestly she had never really been into fancy stuff but considering everything... well it would be one hell of a last meal.
"It doesn't have to be expensive but... filling. I think silence intends something. Which... is odd to think about."
K shrugged a bit and leaned down to kiss the top of her husbands head, cradling him for a moment before standing up tall. She needed to stretch out quite a bit, even if it had been only an hour it was an hour of her not moving at all and oh boy was she sore!
"Which... I don't usually get fancy. But I think it's fitting?"

... Nice, fancy, and full of calories?
It clearly wasn't K that made that suggestion, but the inner spirit lying within her core. The tone caught the doctor a bit off-guard, though it seemed that K was willing to oblige her request. He gave a blink, nuzzling just a bit against the Renamon's muzzle as he considered the request.
"In my experience, 'fancy' is just going to get wasted if you just want to fill up on something. But if you want to get rid of the hunger pangs that badly... hm..." It took him a minute to think of something. He didn't want to get anything that would make K feel sluggish - nothing full of grease, too laden with sugar, or anything like that. And honestly, an extensive sit-down restaurant seemed like a waste of time - so he'd meet her in the middle:
The hospital cafeteria. Just one floor down, he'd flag the Renamon into the worker's section, and she'd have a nice, limited buffet to work with. Sandwiches, simple meats, salad, water and simple juices - everything to keep a doctor or practitioner satisfied without bogging them down.
"Don't think this checks 'fancy', but it should work out for ya?"

K rubbed at the back of her neck, she knew for a fact that her husband knew that it wasn't her that considered this. That it was silence inside of her, she'd smile sweetly and rub her cheek against his rather affectionately. He wasn't wrong however when he said that fancy was going to get wasted if she wanted to get filled up on something. She'd nod slowly and then mull over what the options were really.
And of course they went to the cafeteria! The renamon looking about curiously before taking part in the somewhat simple if not filling buffet! She'd grin at him and give a small nod, loading up her plate with various things. Sure a lot of it was simple and a lot of it was going to get burned up she figured...
"It works for me! Honestly I'm just really hungry. Must be how holly feels before meal times."
K snickered lightly and took a seat at an empty booth, stretching her limbs before starting to eat. Her plate was piled rather high and after a bit she'd clear of not one, not two but three rather healthy plates! She was starving in terms of things but at the end of that she'd lean back with a content sigh.
"Honestly I don't eat that much as it is, I bet that's probably something that I would of needed to address in the future..."

And who could really blame her? The fox hadn't eaten in a little under a day, of course she was hungry - and as a fighting Digimon, though K might not have realized it, she really had quite the appetite!
Though, maybe not a Holly level of appetite. Sharing just a chuckle at her daughter's expense, he had a nicely filled plate himself, looking on with a bit of amusement as K filled up. Thankfully, she would be satisfied in the end, the cat even rolling his eyes a bit.
"Oh, you're fine. You don't get to be a cook as good as you are without having a taste for this sort of stuff." Chuckling, he'd stand up. Now K was right in mind and had her hunger stated, so they could really get the rest of the day going.
"Anything you want to do in particular?" He felt he was parroting himself, a bit - honestly, he didn't have an idea himself. "We could wind down a bit at home, or, really, anything you want. I don't really have a preference right now."
