The leomon-x blinked as she saw that flash of lightning through the edge of her vision. She'd turn her head and frown lightly, her own fur had stood on end for a moment before returning to it's normal composure. Silence flicked her ears and leaned slightly, still sort of pouring over her journal.
"Well I suppose you've got a good point there mom... but still he'll be okay. It's just a storm."
The leomon-x's brows rose just a little bit as the other spoke about her form. She'd look down at her hands and she felt her tail flick behind her as she pondered over the question that her mother posed.
"It is very comfortable. Feels right to be stronger like this but it feels wrong somehow, like I should be stronger or something. I can't really explain it. I liked being in renamon form and I like being in this but it just. I rest easy in this."
Silence found herself frowning lightly, Luminas was the holy city in the sky. One that had some pretty harsh history to it if anything she heard was true. The lion tapped at the table with an armored finger humming softly after a bit.
"I wonder if she went there, maybe she thought highly of the place or something. Hard to really tell. It's stunning if the place looks like this."
Then came the statement that the lion was hoping they'd avoid. She'd lean back a little bit, paging through things. Her hands idly starting to move on their own again, drawing another image. It was slow ponderous work, and she didn't seem too distracted by it while talking with her mother.
"I think she led a violent life. From that burning building, to other events it was like she never stopped. I don't quite understand it but..."
The lion held up the journal again, this time an image of a scene in a forest. It was gentle, peaceful, a single stump sat in a clearing with a soft back-glow of a tree that seemed to be forming over the tree. The elegance in the image seemed to radiate outwards and the lion bit her lower lip.
"She went to a lot of places, some meaningful. Some not. Every image and dream gives me more questions, every memory I remember from her makes me ask myself..."
The lion set down the journal, slowly etching out another page. It was still ponderous work, but this one seemed to be much faster than the others. It was a mountains in the far reaches of the north, gentle looking, peaceful, quiet, and somehow far more warm than anything else. The sun was rising over the mountaintops and silence could feel some sadness rise in her core. Prompting her to wipe her face to find that there was a bit of wetness there.
"What do I want to do? Who do I want to be? The answers are simple, I know I want to be a guard but I don't know who I want to be. I don't really have a goal outside of protecting rosewood. And that's more with the job that I have than a personal goal."

Hopefully Gazi would be fine. But honestly, Gato needed just about anything to distract her from the storm - so why not talk about her daughter's evolution?
It seemed that she was more comfortable as a Leomon, and honestly, Gato could see it. She seemed more animated, perhaps a bit more lively, and not restless as some might be in an elevated from - like Gazi was the few times he had to use Raremon. "Well, whatever makes you comfortable, dear. Though to think your resting state might be a bit higher than this is a bit stunning to think about." The Gatomon gave a soft chuckle, before returning her attention to her daughter's journal.
It wasn't just the flaming inn - ever since she became a Leomon, she'd spent a lot more time focusing on landscapes and the like, enough detail to suggest that she was seeing just a bit deeper into the memories of her old self. And she spoke with more clarity, starting to see her older self with some familiarity... and perhaps as the cat expected, her daughter didn't know what she wanted to be yet.
Or, well, even who she was.
"Honestly, its okay not to have the answer at this point, Silence... but I'm sure you've given it some thought?"

Silence knew that she needed to help her mother out, she could practically smell the worry from the other cat. It wasn't hard to pick up honestly and she was okay talking about this stuff. She'd pause after a few moments and tap her head thoughtfully.
"It would be interesting to see what form I'd rest in the most. It's kinda crazy I don't really struggle with this. Might be something left over or maybe just... luck? I dunno."
There were tons of memories that she had, tons of dreams, tons of drawings. She didn't know what to make of them really, well about half of them in comparison to others. The lion shifted a bit and frowned; wondering quietly to herself what she should do in regards to it.
Not having an answer was... strange to be honest. The lion knew that and once her mother addressed that point she'd bite her lower lip. Closing her journal now that the memories seemed to trickle to a stop.
"Just a little. I know I want to protect people, I know I don't want people to be hurt. I don't know what i have to be to do that, or what I really want to be. I might when I get stronger go talk to the wolf and see what he can tell me about her."
The lion leaned back and found herself frowning further.
"I know what I don't want; which... seems silly honestly."

"Well, whatever you end up as, we're all for it." The Gatomon beamed, at least for that moment, but as the conversation shifted back to the journal, to Silence's wants and desires, the cat listened in caring and earnest.
Her daughter wanted to protect people - but why was she saying that? Was it because of her thoughts in the journal, or was it all she knew in her short life? She even seemed to want to follow up with that wolf, crazy as that idea was in the Gatomon's head. Whisked away by the strange comments of a stranger?
"What makes you so certain he knew who she was?" Aside from that, the cat would give a sigh. A thought occurred to her:
Was she holding Silence back in this small town of Rosewood?
Caught on that, she almost missed her daughter's comment - giving a blink and an 'ack' as she finally caught the conversation again! "Oh! Um... okay, what don't you want to do, then?"

Silence grinned to her mother and reached over to give her a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. She was too big for a real proper hug at this angle so that's what she had to do for the moment. The lion wanted a few simple things and then at her mother's question the lion paused; she bring her hand up to her chin idly scratching at it.
"Well. The way he talked, the way he looked at me. Like he knew a me, but not a me. I think if anything he worked with her enough or perhaps knew well enough about her. What harm could it have talking to one of the knights out of that place?"
Silencce gave a small shrug, flicking her ears to either side as the rain started to come down. The lion giving a brief tsk as she knew that'd only impede her father further. At the following question the lion sighed and rested her head on either hand.
"I don't want to just watch the world pass me by. I don't want to watch people I know get hurt and... Well I know I don't want a passive existance or just scrape by."
The leomon set down a handbook that was often passed around in the mission guild, frowning lightly before turning her head to her mother.
"I want to start taking missions out of the mission guild, but only after I get a little bit stronger and more experienced. Travel around a bit and find out stuff about the digital world. Cause there's one thing that sort of sits wrong with me..."
The lion shifted and looked back to her journal, biting at her lip and just giving a shake of her head.
"I've read some of the more recent news and with all this crazy stuff happening I've got some questions I need answered that you and dad don't have the answers for and that's okay. It's... really loaded stuff too."

"That familiar, huh..." Strange, what was it about that wolf that got to her? The Gatomon couldn't piece it together at the moment - nor would she ever really be able to. What she could understand was her daughter's desires.
She didn't want to sit back, or live a cozy life. She wanted to do something, protect people actively - and even take on the mission guild. Honestly, that made the cat's heart thump a bit in her chest, that feeling of a soon-to-be-empty nest. But to hear that her daughter wanted to 'take on the world', in a way...
... Heh. The Gatomon gave a chuckle, and sat down, mulling it over. "... I guess I just never prepared myself for it - or that it would be this soon. Silence, you're the light of your father and I's life, but ever since you hatched, you've proven to both be a handful and an outgoing Digimon. And Rosewood, well, we're small. A farming town for those to live peaceful lives from the Village of Beginnings, with a simple Guard that concerns themselves with community events as much as protecting it. And, well..."
She bit her lip.
"... I guess, just know that you'll always have a home to come to, if you need it. Alright?"

"It's weird honestly..."
Silence sighed a bit and shook her head, everything about that wolf stood out to her. She didn't know why and she didn't know what he said that just stuck to her but it really just... Did. She wanted to get stronger, maybe to just prove something or perhaps just to prove to herself that she could.
The idea of her taking missions probably didn't sit all too well with her mother and the lion shifted in her seat. Stowing away the journal in a side pocket before turning her attention more at her mother that who took a seat near her.
"To be honest I didn't really expect it until late myself... eheh. Yeah. It's a wonderful little place isn't it? It deserves this, it really does. A place of peace and a kind will."
Silence rubbed her neck a bit and at the last bit the lion blinked, leaning to give her mother a big old hug. She knew that this must be hard for her mother, but the lion wasn't planning on leaving anytime soon... She had to get a bit stronger first!
"Don't worry mom, I'll make sure to visit. It might still be a bit though, I still need to get stronger before going out there. I'll only be able to rely on myself at first I'd think. Especially in the thick of things."
The lion gave a shrug, honestly she didn't know how cruel the world was or how things really worked in other places. So she'd have to take them as they came...

"Oh, Silence... you'd better."
Stuck between a smile and tears, the Gatomon would return her daughter's hug as best she could, the echoing sound of the storm roaring in the background. An odd backdrop for such a moment... but that was just life, wasn't it? And who knows, Silence might get her chance earlier than she thinks.
But to push herself to the next level? It was going to take a bit more than training. In the middle of the night, Gazi returned home - soaked, and forced to let off a good amount of his stock that ended up damaged in the storm. He shared a word with the cat when he got back, and in the morning, Silence would see that he was fine and well, if a bit frustrated to lose an entire day's work over a freak accident.
Or, was it an accident? Well into the morning, that rain still pounded the area - so much so that the guard was growing concerned, Leomon trailing his hands against the path. "Sealsdramon, is this in the forecast?"
"Negative - clear skies all around us. Something or someone is keeping this storm up intentionally."
"Cards? Magic?" The lion sighed: "Well, we can't just sit here. We'll need to fan out and find the source before this whole place sinks into the mud..."

"I wouldn't just up and vanish! You know that!"
Silence chuckled lightly and gently patted the top of her mother's head. The rain in the background made the leomon-x frown lightly, it was still coming down pretty hard even after all day being like that. Felt a touch odd but the lion didn't know what else to think about it.
She didn't know how much it'd take to get to the next level, but she was ready to try just about anything.
Silence was quick to help her father when he returned, she'd of course give them the privacy they wanted from her for a bit as she knew their discussions could vary and her overhearing some things wasn't good. She didn't want to hear about how bad it was or the like, she was just glad her father was safe.
In the morning the leomon-x stepped out on her porch, frowning lightly as she saw that the rain was still coming down. She'd flip up her hood and trudge through the mud to where she needed to report to. She'd happen upon her commanders at the near end of the conversation and would rub at the back of her neck.
"Here for the training like scheduled but... it sounds like we're gonna be taking a break from that Sir?"
She didn't mind the thought of finding a source of this... problem. Something that probably was just some prank or... well hopefully no one malicious or something. She didn't want to think about that, people here worked too darned hard for them to get forced out by a little rain!
The Lion turned her head to glance behind them, frowning lightly. If the rain continued well... it would be a large problem.

"Mhm."
The Leomon gave a tired sigh - annoyed and frustrated at this sudden occurrence. So long as this storm kept up and went this hard, Rosewood would be paralyzed from the ground up. It didn't take long for the Leomon to catch Silence up on the situation: someone was keeping this storm going, and it was up to them to route out the source and get it to stop. Unfortunately, that also meant fanning out the guard, while keeping just a few to watch the streets proper. Silence would be assigned to the woods just to the south of town, but through the thick of the storm, it was hard to really make out anything.
Foliage dripping water. An increasingly swampy undergrowth threatening to pull a leg down to its knee. Everything seemed to be working against Silence's grounded self... so much so that the source didn't even bother to hide herself.
A Zephyrmon (X). Sitting on a thick branch of the forest, she gave a grin, her left hand clutched around a green, pulsing stone. "Oh, my... lost all the way out here, are we?" She gave a cruel chuckle. "Guess I gotta pick you apart before you can get help..."

"All right sir..."
The lion gave a nod and was quickly put up to speed by the Leomon. Thankfully she seemed to understand what needed to be done and honestly she had to wonder why someone would do this in the first place! She was glad she wasn't assigned to the town itself more because she felt like she needed to learn some stuff that she couldn't there...
Considering how things were as she got further away from town down in the more southern area she was lucky that her feet didn't stick in the mud. At least not until she got further and further in, eventually she was having to spend a good minute or two pulling her legs out of the muck.
Then there was the source, a Zephyrmon sitting on a thick branch... Holding a green pulsing stone. They taunted and seemed to think she was lost, the lion gritting her teeth and sliding her sword from it's perch. She wasn't in the best position to fight here, her legs were tired, her arms were tired, she was just tired from the long trek out here. The other not seeming worst for wear; which would end poorly.
"I guess so, don't spose you'd be willing to offer me directions eh?"
The lion chuckled lightly and spun her sword around before letting loose a vector slice hoping that she could at least slice the branch above the harpy like digimon before they took off. Maybe that'd ground them long enough for her to get herself free from the muck and close the distance a bit...

"Mm... directions... let's see..."
Yeah, like she'd fall for that! As soon as that sword was raised, the Zephyrmon hopped right on up, balancing herself against the branch before kicking herself off into the air. A quick beat of her wings suspended her right below the canopy, the flier undeterred by the marsh-like conditions below.
She knew it would be difficult for Silence to call for help - and also difficult for the grounded lion to simply waltz away. With a grin, she'd start to beat her wings, an array of sharpened feathers tearing their way downwards, intent to simply slice up Silence on the spot.
Perhaps not the most damaging technique - but should it hit, Silence would feel a definite, sharp pain with each deep cut!

Well it was worth a god damn try.
The harpy like digimon was fast on her proverbial feet, dodging out of the way of her vector slash. Silence huffed a bit and pulled one foot out of the muck, managing to somewhat move just a little bit. Though upon seeing the array of sharpened feathers tearing towards her the lion gripped her sword with both hands midway through a swing by the time the feathers started slicing into her.
It was extremely painful and the few that she stopped with her sword had dug into it in such a way that made removing them quickly problematic. She could see a few hairline cracks appearing on the length of her sword and the leomon bit her lip.
She'd yank her foot out of the muck only to have the other one sink in a good foot or so, making it next to impossible for her stance to shift correctly. The lion's sword on the other hand made a slight groaning sound as though the weight was a touch too much and around three of the feathers... well the blade simply just fell apart, leaving Silence with maybe about a foot to work with.
"Spose this'll do."
The lion spun her 'sword' around and took the best defensive stance she could. Though she felt her feet sinking into the muck by the second...

Just a helpless mouse trapped in her cage!
The Zephyrmon couldn't help but cackle, seeing the Leomon's predicament. Every pull only shoved another foot deeper into the mud, and it only took a few feathers for the weaker Digimon's sword to be reduced to that of a hilt. At this point, the flier didn't even need to hit the Leomon directly: instead, she took her free hand, and generated a small, tight ball of wind energy, before letting it loose...
... Aimed right at the Leomon's feet. Ordinarily, it would have likely blown her backwards, but with the ground like this? Oh, it would break up that soft ground even further, churning it briefly like a cement mixer. Her intent?
Simple.
To sink the Leomon deep inside this makeshift trap.

The leomon huffed a bit, pulling at her legs with one hand, while keeping an eye on the Zephyrmon just to see what they would do. She'd manage to always get one leg out of the muck before the other sank in. She was just too damn heavy. The leomon huffed a bit and at one point well, out of frustration she'd throw her hilt at the Zephyrmon. It was useless at this point, her gauntlets were probably sturdier than the hilt was!
She knew she was in a bad way and Silence's eyes widened a bit as the ground was churned with the use of that attack. The leomon sank up to her waist making it damn near impossible for her to pull herself out without some real effort that she couldn't give while fending off an attack like this.
She'd bite her lower lip, she had one attack without her sword. The sword that the harpy had broken. Snarling in irritation the leomon pressed her hands against the ground, not finding any purchase and only seeing that her hands were sinking in rather than pushing her up. She'd quickly abandon this tactic and clench her fists keeping both eyes on the Zephyrmon. She was stuck and at the mercy of this harpy, she had to find a way out of this...
