The very thought that this wasn't the worst the two had been through was a sombering one. Mikemon might argue otherwise - losing K was downright devastating - but there were definitely other things in their lives that could rank higher. For Tawna, it would have been losing Haru, and for Mikemon, it could have been a number of things in his life as a Demon Lord.
And perhaps for both of them, maybe facing execution at the hands of a rightfully chivalrous Gallantmon raked their nerves.
Nonetheless, they still managed to move the conversation along. As soon as Mikemon brought up moving, Tawna offered to kick in her hat to help. And it didn't sound like she was offering just to offer, Tawna sounded interested in the deal! "Hm? Oh, I mean if you want, we could use the help!" Mikemon gave a smile, looking over towards his bookshelves. "Most of the furniture in the bedrooms are ours, save for the bookshelves. I'm also going to have to look into renting an office up there, or commute to Whitewater or something to be closer to the patients."
He was still mulling it over in his head, it sounded like. "How long do you expect to be around for this time?" The doctor was trying to piece the timeframe in his head for all of this. Heck, he still wanted to properly introduce Tawna to the kids!

To her relief, the doc seemed open to having her help actually! Honestly, it'd be good exercise too for her... its been awhile since she has had any action frankly, and even if its just moving some furniture it would be a nice change of pace. "I think I would. Besides, can't pass up free labor... right? Though I guess you have Stingmon. Actually, do you EVEN pay him?" she ended up chuckling dorkily, albeit before dwelling on the nature of one of Mikemon's loyalest "minions" (even if it was clear they were more friends these days).
How LONG was she planning to stay? Honestly, that was something up for debate. Haru felt like she needed the time off, but just for how long? Really, she just had a rough guess as to how long she'd be comfortable leaving her behind. "Two weeks... Maybe more if Haru is comfortable with that... thing inside her." she somewhat bitterly spoke, avoiding even saying the Hunter's name. "I think its good for Haru to want to reconvene with her humanity... but I can't say that its pleasant being DNA'd with her 24/7. I just worry she'll do something dumb."
Actually on second thought, Haru will probably do something dumb anyway. That was almost a gurantee.
"Regardless, maybe it'd be nice to just do something normal for once. You know. For a Digimon. Like a normal Digimon." the Meicrackmon lightly smiled, chuckling awkwardly as she glanced at the clock... the time difference between the human world and Digital World was still pretty odd to get used to again, but she'd deal with it. "Besides... It'll be nice to be able to see everyone again. I need to try and see if I can get Haru to afford maybe sometime for a visit once she gets some time. I know she's been calling Ayumi a lot, though they've yet to really do anything."

Sheesh, the Stingmon? "Oh, I pay him. He's aloof and spends most of his time reading the paper, but damn I don't think I'd be able to run the office without him." Mikemon rolled his eyes along with Tawna's comment. Yes, Stingmon was one of his long-time friends, but he was also a professional secretary and medical assistant, one of the most useful 'silent' members of the Digital Field club.
Hearing that Tawna planned to stay around for two weeks, Mikemon gave a nod. "Alright, good - packing up would only take about half a day or so. I didn't want to take all of your free time up with chores, that's all." Helpful as Tawna wanted to be, this was still her time off. His ear flicked at the silent comment about Hunter. "Two weeks here, two days over there... and its not like Hunter has too many data signals to track." Haru would be fine, and if not, she had people on that end to check in on her.
Hopefully, anyway. Mikemon nodded at Tawna's desire to act as a normal Digimon. "It would be nice to see Haru again - but yeah, its nice to have you here, even if just for a few days. I should re-introduce you to Syre, I don't think you've seen her since she was a Nyaromon - oh, and Holly too!"
The cat gave a grin, obviously proud of his kids. "Or, well, we could hit the town or something. If you're giving me all the help moving, I can definitely clear out a day to just do 'whatever'."

Admittingly it was only a passing thought about Stingmon and his relationships with the doc, but only a fool would assume that the humanoid insect played an insignificant role. She was quite aware that if it weren't for him, the good doctor would have likely not survived his encounter with a mind-controlled K. "It's always the quiet ones. Those are the ones people really need to watch out for."
Nonetheless, it sounded like they had a plan. While Mikemon was open about not wanting to take up too much of her own time, Tawna was quick to admit that well... she had plenty of it. Maybe too much actually.”Free time to do what though? Sit around and sleep? I’m not exactly what people call a productive member of society. I have no skills or hobbies whatsoever.” she somewhat snidely spoke, though her tone soon softened as she sighed. "Maybe I should fix that... but what else could I do? I only know how to fight."
Ugh. Questions. So many questions to dwell on... what COULD she do even? She was a fighter, and not much else. In a way, she was kinda envious of the good doctor.
Perhaps she'd try to coax Haru sometime? While they were hesitant about potentially irritating the Hunter, there were a lot of people that Haru needed to see again. Actually, so did she... It really HAS been a long time since she has seen Syre; and she never had the chance to meet Holly too! What kinda damn honorary aunt was she? "Crap... Its been too long. Syre probably doesn't even remember me." she mused, placing a hand on her forehead as she shook it. "I remember trying to babysit Syre once... Boy, that was a mess. In retrospect, trying to teach combat tactics to a In-Training was not a good idea." she blushed as she awkwardly twiddled her fingers.
She was the first to admit she wasn't the best with kids... but she tried. Much more so than her own mother at least.

Well... Tawna might have had two weeks off, but she had no idea what to do with 'em! "Don't sell yourself that short, Tawna. Your data control's pretty good to be able to stay fused with Haru for so long... and lord knows you know how to throw a punch." Admittedly, those weren't skills that were useful in a 'casual' setting, but there was still no need to play down her strengths.
Even if it did boil down to being a fighter. "Hm... I might need a bit to think that one over." Maybe one of them would come up with a good idea. Or maybe Tawna would just have fun with the kids!
At that note, Mikemon soon found himself giving a blink, before stifling a laugh. "Oh, right, I almost forgot about that train wreck. Syre learning how to torpedo herself into the furniture was entertaining in retrospect, but yeah, Syre didn't need to learn that back then. Of course now she's solidly ultimate and has her mission license..."
He gave a blink. Digimon grew up like weeds.
"But I mean, if you want? Syre's on an off-week to help with the move so she's just up in her room."

Was she skilled in some way? Perhaps... but it didn't change her opinion that she was not skilled like Mikemon was. "Hmm. Yeah, I suppose... but it pales to being a doctor. Doc, people like you save lives... I'm only really good at tearing them down." the feline somewhat sadly mused, huffing slightly. She hated to be a pessimist, but it sadly was somewhat the truth. "I... uhh... guess you could attribute that to you know... poor parenting. Elitist cults don't make for good environments for an impressionable young youth."
There was a goddamn good reason why she usually kept quiet about her past life... It was more than a simple sore spot for the normally proud Tawna. She shook the feeling of despair off her though... The past wouldn't hurt her anymore.
She at the least cheered up slightly as the pair reminisced about some of her mishaps trying to help babysit Syre. Her look of shock hearing how the doc's first daughter was able to reach Ultimate displayed just how unused she was to dealing with her own kind in a manner that wasn't involving violence in some form. "Geez... Seriously? Haru was right... we Digimon really do grow up too fast." she awkwardly mused as she scratched at the side of her head, blinking twice. "You don't think she'll mind? I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasn't interested to see just what that little furball has grown up like as a person... Though I've heard she inherited your brains." she dorkily mused, blushing slightly.

Sheesh, Tawna really knew how to tear herself down, didn't she? The MeiCrackmon even played the doctor card against herself - a point that the Mikemon had to scratch the back of his head. "I more-or-less became a doctor in a desperate attempt to mask the fact that I was a Demon Lord. I'm, er, not the perfect patient-loving ideal doctor you might have in your head."
At the very least, he could somewhat understand where Tawna was coming from - though it was clear that they both didn't like to talk about it. The past was in the past, and both seemed willing to simply shed those thoughts off to the side.
Right back to talking around Syre! Mikemon gave a nod: "Mhm. I know the growth schedule myself but its way too fast when you're in the driver's seat. One day she's having trouble bouncing up the stairs and the next I'm chasing right on after her. And... eheh." The doctor didn't know how to take that compliment! "She's a smart cookie, sure, but not like me. All I can say is, don't get into a round of Poker or anything like that with her. And nah, she won't mind."
With a tilt of his head, he'd lead right on along. It was pretty quiet on this end of the Library, usually - and Tawna would better see that this place was getting ready for the move. Several of the shelves were cleared, boxes were stacked up in the kitchen, and the furniture in the living area was cleared out. With a hook to the left and a knock, the doctor would open the door to Syre's room.. or, well, what was left of it, as the black cat taped another box shut.
"Hm? Dad, what's up?" Setting that box on the pile, she'd turn to face the door - and blink at the sight of the MeiCrackmon, tilting her head. Not Holly, not Mei... who was she? Ugh, it was on the tip of her tongue-
"Ah, Tawna, right?" It clicked, all at once!

Even if she was a master pessimist, Tawna was the last person to undersell someone. The doc was someone she had a lot of respect for… for well, a lot of reasons. He was the closest thing to family she had besides Haru. "To be a doctor you gotta know how to put someone together as easily as you can tear them apart… Isn't there some motto or something all docs pledge to? Some guy called Soh-crates or something. Do no harm or something?" she ended up trying to encourage him in her own blunt manner… before briefly reminded of how Dr. Cross's last "meeting" with the Hunter went… to which Tawna smiled a toothy grin. "Well, do no harm to the patient. Any other assholes are free game."
She really could only imagine what it was like for the doc with raising Syre… She wondered how much influence K had on the raising process as well? Well, obviously there had to be some positive impact if Syre turned out as well as she did. Still, the thought of that munchkin being a real ace at poker amused her to no end. "Ain't you supposed to be a goddamn god at poker or something, doc? Just what kinda gambling monster did you bring to this world?" the Meicrackmon snarked with a toothy grin, poking a bit of fun at his former demon lord status before purring slightly.
Finally getting a chance to see the doc and K's first daughter once again… Tawna felt the odd feeling of being self-conscious over her own height (where was a human who could act as the middle-man when you need one). She couldn't help but awkwardly chuckle as she placed a hand behind the back of her head. "Yo tiger… Gee, can't believe you remember me. There's way too many of us dumb maine coones frankly these days." she mused before smiling a bit dorkily, glancing at the doc briefly. "Sorry not been around. Uhh… Lets just say that your old babysitter has been needing to babysit another cat for well… the past couple months."
It was then that Tawna hit a blank… Oh god, what else to say? She literally only ever talked to like two people… Was she coming across as weird or something? The way the Meicrackmon's face seemed to twist showcased how out of place she felt.

"Heh... there's a code of ethics for us, yes, but I hardly know anything about human history." Mikemon gave a shrug, but did end up sharing a small chuckle with Tawna's grin. That much was true: if anything came between him and a trusted patient, or his family or the club, he'd be a far cry away from his self as a 'do-no-harm medical professional'.
Syre did have an interesting upbringing with the club, too - Tawna probably had more of an impact than she realized! But to Tawna's comment, Mikemon simply gave a shrug. "Hey, I believe I'm Greed, Tawna. And a master of Greed will know that the better way to make money is to own the casino." He snarked right back, taking the rare opportunity to revel in his title. And yes, Tawna was tall.
Very tall, compared to the other two cats in the room. And yet for Syre, craning her neck like this was all too familiar! "Hm? Oh, Tawna, I only know three Mei's, and one of them's my sister. Besides, you're quite the hard one to forget!" Setting that box down, Syre would stretch out her back, giving a grin to her feline aunt. "Mm... dad did tell me that I wouldn't be seeing you around too often way back when. Though maybe that was just when I first became a BlackGatomon?" Heck, had Tawna even seen Syre in her Rookie or Champion cat-forms before?
Syre mulled that over, and the conversation hit a snag. Mikemon picked up on that, mulling over the best way to try and push the conversation in any direction. Syre gave a shrug, just not able to picture that timeframe. "Anyway, sorry you have to see the place like this. Most of my stuff's already packed up - though Holly's got boxes stacked up to the ceiling. Anyway, how have ya been? Haru doing well?"

"All I know about human history is that there was some famous guy who like... put human heads on stakes to tell intruders to piss off. Metal as all get out." Tawna mused with a toothy grin. Yeeeah... she was the first to admit she was the last person who should be in medical school.
Nonetheless, Tawna was honestly surprised that Syre actually remembered her... Maybe it was just her underestimating how noteworthy she was? "Man... I freakin' remember when you were like, palm-sized. Then again, I guess thats all Digimon." the Meicrackmon awkwardly mused before scratching her forehead.
Yeeeah... there was that gap of time where she was recovering from the whole ordeal from the desert after being brought back from the brink of death and Haru put back together like humpty dumpty... since then, her visits to the Digital World had been slim. "I mean... she's doing well now. Err... I guess the question is, how much has the doc told ya about why we've been kinda absent?"

"... Huh."
Huh was about right. Mikemon knew nothing about human history, much less about 'Vlad the Impaler', so he could only listen with morbid interest. "Alright, maybe human stuff's a bit more entertaining than I give it credit for."
Heck, a demon lord could appreciate the morbid! As for Syre, she gave a small laugh at Tawna's comment: "Yup. I went all the way from 'hand size' to 'forearm size', in your case... and I think you still have a good foot or so on my ultimate. Seriously, what's with all of us cats having Champions the size of Rookies?"
"I do have to say, getting all custom fit furniture for my office was a bit of a chore with that." Mikemon sighed as he scratched the back of his head - heck, this was something that Tawna was familiar with. And something the doctor heard from Tawna-the-Meicoomon at least ten or so times!
As for Haru? "Mm... I wish I could say I hadn't, but I've been at the Library long enough that the rumor's spread to me too. I guess it could have been worse, but I'm glad she's holding up." And between K and Haru, Syre was more than willing to just let that sour note of conversation slip by. "Anyway, what brings you down here?"
"Tawna's down for a couple weeks to take a load-off - and the two of ya really haven't had time to talk to each-other other than a few babysitting visits, so I figured you two could actually get to know each-other."
"Huh..." Alright. That sounded good to Syre, though she wasn't entirely sure if she was the type to click with Tawna. "So, then... what do you do for fun, I guess?"
Yup - Syre was just as bad as Tawna at this!

Tawna couldn't help but chuckle at the quirk amongst many cat-like Digimon with how many of them are pint-sized despite otherwise being Champion levels. She never really understood why, just that being small tended to make people not take you seriously... which in a way was a good and bad thing. "Ehh. Once you hit Ultimate, generally size stops meaning everything. Heck, sometimes being smaller is an advantage. Seriously... If you ever want a reason to never fight a Mamemon, theres one." she mused, chuckling at the mention of the oddball species of Digimon... Mikemon was lucky that his own Mega was well... basically exactly the same as his Champion. "Hey, look on the bright side. Least you're not needing to purchase stuff like ten times your size. Raguelmon Crimson would be basically the worst office ever." the Meicrackmon chuckled, though admittingly wondered about that.
If she didn't have Raguelmon anymore... would they even be able to DNA? Well, it wasn't like it was necessary... but it was a good thought. Or maybe Haru needed to be in on it? Hell if she knew at this point... besides, it wasn't a priority for her.
"Don't worry bout it really. She's fine now, but we had to sacrifice a lot to get her back. If your dad wasn't there, I'd have probs snapped..." she reassured Syre about Haru's condition, opting to enlighten her younger peer about the nature of her situation. "Fresh air mainly. You probably don't know what its like, but being DNA Digivolved with someone is... nice, but claustrophobic. Haru has a few... issues that need wrangling, and I try to be there for her. Still, you could compare it to being stuck in a tight room for days... weeks... months even." she ended up explaining. While it wasn't in a negative tone, it was clear that the Ultimate-level had some issues with the scenario as a whole.
While Tawna DID want to get to know Syre... how do you start a conversation? "Uhh... before Haru? Uhh... prowl I guess. Other... Digimon." she ended up awkwardly saying before catching how OFF that sounded. Meekly the maine coone glanced down at Mikemon in a uncharacteristically timid manner, twiddling her fingers. "Did I ever mention that I MAY have been a bit of a... well... Mike, what's the word I'm looking for?" she tried to explain before ultimately subcumbing to pressure asking him. "What about ya? I know you help your pa some... what's my niece do for a living?"

Sheesh, a Mamemon? That was one of the few evolved Digimon shorter than a Gatomon! Both Syre and Mikemon shared in on that little chuckle. Though as Tawna brought up 'Raguelmon Crimson', Syre tilted her head curiously. "Hm? I'm not familiar with that one..."
"Oh, that?" Mikemon gave a shrug: "Tawna's my DNA partner. Though that form's obviously not suited for office work - I think there's limits on the people one would accept as their doctor." He gave a smirk, not too concerned on being able to fuse or not at the moment. As for Haru, at least she was doing fine!
"I am a bit curious how all that worked - but I'm guessing it was the simple-but-difficult way." Unfortunately, Mikemon returned a nod to that - though Syre listened on in interest as to what it was like to be fused with someone for so long. Claustrophobic? "Mm... is that the typical sense? I thought it would be more like sharing a mind or taking turns controlling the body, or something."
"Typically it is, but not in Haru's case. What Tawna's doing, essentially, is 'holding back' the other Meicoomon in Haru's head to prevent her from taking over. Though from what we've talked about earlier, it does sound like Hunter mellowed out a bit?"
Alright, scratch that, Syre knew so little about what was going on! The topic shifted once again, though it seemed like Tawna didn't know how to introduce herself. Nor did Syre really understand - 'other Digimon' what? She gave a confused blink, until dad fit the missing word:
"Feral. Before meeting Haru as her partner, Tawna was a feral."
"Aaaaah." It clicked, and honestly, that opened up a whole mess of other questions! As for Syre? "Mm, despite spending most of my time in the Field Club, I took a bit of a different route. Let's see... I'm licensed with the Mission Guild and I joined a group called the 'Knights of the Rose'. Basically we keep a patrol over some parts of the Digital World to make sure that all this 'stuff' that's happening stays more or less under control, but the group itself is pretty lax."
"Yup, despite my best efforts, Syre ended up being a fighter." Mikemon chuckled, as Syre gave him a small push. "Hush, you." She gave a chuckle. "Other than that, nothing too fancy. I hang around her, mostly with Dio, Carlos, and Mae, though I occasionally manage to trick a few 'round here for a game of cards or something."
Yup - things around here went pretty well, all things considered. "But, really, feral? Like 'feral' feral?" Syre was right to be a bit confused - most of that type she'd seen could barely even speak!

Tawna shrugged slightly at the mention of they being DNA partners actually... It always confused her that she and Mikemon were DNA partners, yet he and K weren't. She KNEW damn well they were close, but...
On second thought... Maybe it was best she stayed quiet. She didn't want to reopen old wounds. Not now. Instead, she just opted to take the conversation in a light direction. "Nonsense. If your situation is desperate enough, you'd take a Numemon as your doctor... Well, probably not." the Meicrackmon snarked, though did sigh slightly at the mention of the Hunter. "... Regrettably. If I had the choice, I would have gotten rid of that monster... but thats the price we had to pay to get Haru back."
Feral. That was a really good word to describe what she once was like... Back then, it didn't really matter what others thought... but now that she had friends and family? She was more self-conscious about that sorta stuff. Tawna smiled slightly at least hearing what kinda career path Syre took... hard to believe that was the same white jellybean that the doc had to bottlefeed. "Sounds dope... Nothing wrong with wanting to fight for a good cause. If you have the will and strength to match it, go for it sister." she grinned with a bit of a snaggletooth (the regular variant Meicrackmon lacking the shark teeth that Vicious Mode had).
... Oh boy, back to the feral thing. Tawna's face just somewhat grew monotone, glancing back at the doc awkwardly. "... Yeah. Thats accurate. Uhhh, long story short... I didn't have the best upbringing before Haru took me in." she awkwardly spoke, scratching the back of her forehead. "... I guess if you really wanted to boil it down to the basics... I wasn't a good person. At all."

A Numemon? Mikemon's ear gave a flick, planting his face into his palm as he couldn't help but give a short chuckle. "... There's also a hygiene limit. But seriously, could you imagine taking medical advice from someone with claws the size of steak knives?"
"Yeesh..." Yeah, Syre was in agreement there! As for Haru, Tawna's reaction was rather expected, Mikemon giving a nod. He shared that sentiment: this situation was far from ideal! But what could they do at this point?
Mikemon gave a sigh and a playful roll of his eyes as Syre smirked at Tawna's compliment to being a fighter. "Heh, I intend to! Well, its not all about the fighting, of course..." Syre scratched the back of her head, not entirely sure how to place this praise. She was more a 'trickster' than a fighter, but both of 'em were making it sound like she was into the sport!
But she couldn't stay on it for long. Syre's interest peeled back a bit of Tawna's shell, showing a layer of discomfort within. Mikemon met Tawna's gaze with a short nod. As she wrapped up that short summary, he rested a hand right on Tawna's own.
Syre blinked. "Well... neither was dad though, right?" She tilted her head, Mikemon's ear giving a flick as his daughter brought it up directly. "I don't know much of it, but apparently he was some kind of 'Demon Lord' and mom was some kind of avatar for the knights. Honestly, everything was set up for the two of 'em to be at each-other's throats, and I know dad did some off stuff back in the day... but that's not who he is now, right?"
Mikemon gave a chuckle. "Sheesh, you really got to break the old man down to build him back up again, kid?" Syre was right, of course, the doctor simply playfully chiding her. "But take it from me. Tawna's rough as all get-out, but she's also got the biggest heart out of anyone I know. She might talk herself down a bit - but when it comes right down to it, she doesn't hesitate to do what she thinks is right."
