Following on for their ‘intriguing’ fall into the Digital World, Sóley and Akko began the walk to the settlement known as Rosewood. As expertly advised by… a giant tree monster, with a mustache…
To Sóley, this seemed like a rather feeble and strange plan. But until she could prove this was all a strange dream and find a way to wake up – she was going to have to go along with it. Nothing in this world made too much sense. It was almost like someone had designed a game but later decided to add everything possible to make it as quirky and strange as possible.
Even the monsters, the pair met were super weird! Clearly, her imagination was working overtime. As proven on their very first sighting on this trek. Akko – clutching the strange partner, she had befriended. The oddly silent, ball of mint-colored marshmallow with a leaf tail -- ran ahead down the path which led towards a great expanse of brush forest. A set of wooden signs were laid out on a rickety post. Each pointing in a different direction. But as this was the Digital World, none of it made much sense. One pointed straight up and said, ‘The Moon’, which caused Sóley to roll her eyes. One straight down and pointed to ‘The Sea of Blood’, a rather horrible sounding prospect. Others included Server Woods, straight ahead, Backup Bayou, Tyrant’s Labyrinth and Vander Tower.
“Extremely not helpful for us,” Sóley muttered, more to herself than to Akko. Her own little round partner – a blue blob with a swirl on top whom she did not believe in at all, bounced happily behind. “What’s the plan?”
A mistake. As it just proved her original thought, all the monsters in this world are weird, or useless. Akko considered for a second and then ran away into the distance. “One second! Wait here!” Sóley simply sighed and made to lean against the sign, causing half of the wooden letterings to fall down. “Whatever. Not got anything better to do anyway.” She muttered again, ignoring the fallen signs.
A few minutes later, Akko returned. She was literally dragging a monster by the arm towards them. The monster in question, looked about as flustered by this was Sóley was. The thing has mud-colored skin with the complexion of brick. A bulbous nose took up a majority of the face, with only a tiny face visible beneath a billowing phrygian cap.
“Lemme go, lemme go. I’ma get you!” The thing was screamed in a voice far more high pitch than expected.
Waving its arms up and down, wildly trying to break free. Akko was ignoring this, continuing to drag the creature forward. As Akko finally releasing it, the strange creature fell to its knees and looked up into the bright green eyes, panting.“Mr. Goblin. Do you know where we can find Rosewood Town, please?” Akko asked, ever so kindly. A bright smile stretched over her face.
“I don’t know nuffin’! I don’t. I don’t. Lemme go!” It began to chant, over and over. It’s little face getting redder and redder. “Oh! This thing is useless, just let it go,” Sóley said, sighing and moving forward.
“Uh oh. You made him mad,” the little blue swirled monster muttered. It seemed quite true as the little monsters face was scarlet! “I am NO goblin! I am not. I am not! I am Grumblemon! I am! I am!” With a great roar of high-pitched anger, the monster now known as Grumblemon jumped head-first into the mounds of thick dirt and vanished beneath the depths within seconds. Spraying both Akko and Sóley with a great amount of soil and dust. “Well, that was both stupid and not helpful,” Sóley grunted, trying to brush the dirt out of her hair.
