[B] Test: Tyrant Labyrinth

"Alright you guys, I might be not there, but I'll be acting as your operator. I hope you guys understand that this means to be training. Danger is very real, but at the same time there will be no penalty if you want to quit. I already checked your luggage prior, and as you know you're cleared from any excessive items.
As member of KIZNA, you should already know that we have different kinds of missions. At times, you're not assigned to short mission, but a long one. Another time it prioritizes speed, and at other times it prioritizes good relationships... I'm sure that you three are aware of how to do diplomatic route... however, I'm not sure how good you are at survival and speed. That's what we'll be doing this time around.
I have put a chest with some contents in the labyrinth. As you know, what's in that chest, the contents belonged to me. Thus you're not allowed to peek what's inside. Anyway, we have set you a camp outside the tyrant's labyrinth entrance. If you need to prepare anything before you enter, or check something before entering, go on ahead. If you enter that tent for the second time without the badge however it'll be treated that you failed the exam. We also supplied you with secondary camping set. If you want a real one you got to purchase it in the shop though!
Anyway, goodluck you two. You can keep communicating with me, but keep it professional. After all, today I'll be your Navi rather than your leader or your father. Ask if there is something that you don't understand, kay? Hikaru out."
The sight that presented to the trios are endless canopy of trees and vines alike. it's creating something akin to a labyrinth, in rather strange way. For the entrance, it looked like that it's very wide in term of how easily passable it is... but should they go deeper, certainly it'll be more and more complex. The tent is here... there's not much to do, perhaps it's to question whether should they rest up before actually going in, or strategize, or to ignore the tent and goes in. It's at the moment about 11:23 in the morning. Slightly damp, but thanks to the shades, it felt cool.
What would their action be?

Okay. Today was the day, Bezil's big test for becoming a fully fledged member of KIZNA. The Gumdramon took it seriously, eating a large breakfast when he woke up that morning in Rosewood, then made his way to the Tyrant's Labyrinth that morning.
For this test, he would be travelling with Kenny and Skadi, two individuals that he had met in Terminus City that he had come to rather like as friends. They too wanted to join KIZNA, so it seemed they would be taking the test together. So the furred Gumdramon would walk with them through the forest until they arrived at their destination - a tent by the "labyrinth".
Their test seemed to be based on checking their skills on survival and speed. Bezil was confident he had learned enough from Owen to be good at survival, but he hadn't yet been through his other father's tests, so he would take this seriously and make sure he had no blind spots in this. It seemed their mission was to retrieve a chest from within the labyrinth, but not look at what was inside.
For now, it seemed like they had permission to enter the tent once, and only once. Given that he was already rested up and ready to go, Bezil looked to Kenny and Skadi.
"You guys ready to start? Or should we take a break first?" he asked them. Still though, Bezil would look inside the tent, to check if there was anything they could use.

It was safe to say that Kenny and Skadi had been preparing a lot for this mission for quite a while now; getting the necessary gear, doing bits of training from time to time, and most importantly, getting the Digimental of Reflection, allowing the plucky Valaismon to digivolve to her Armour Ultimate form, SilverGrademon, the Reflective Knight. And it was clear Skadi was ready to rock and roll, putting on a brave face, and a sense of unwavering confidence inside of her. It was clear Skadi possessed a lot of skill and potential inside of her, if Valt was anything to go by, bless his heart.
And yet, despite the fact the weather was only cool, Kenny was practically shivering, like if he was in the middle of a snowstorm without a warm parka. He was feeling quite (read: very) nervous about this mission. Yuuki and Hikaru had pointed out several times that the dangers were real. Were they bluffing?
Most likely no, but there was one part of him who was praying full-speed to God, Buddha and Arceus that they were.
Anyways, the pair were with Bezil today for this particular mission, that being 'survive the labyrinth, get the box, and get out in one piece', and they were certainly not complaining about that; the fluffy Gumdramon and their fearless friend had won them over back at Kenny's first visit to the Digital World. They had no doubt in his skill, not at all. And they had packed only the essentials they needed. Mainly, no technology and no wallets. They were all locked up in his room, and he held the key in the Infini-Store with his keychain.
As they walked throughout the forest, Kenny gulped a little, which made Skadi take notice and turn her head to her tamer, "Kenny, are you OK?" She asked, her voice sounding very concerned, but Kenny yelped in surprise, and tried to reassure her.
"Wha-? No, no, I'm fine, man." He replied, shaking his head, "It's just... it's just that I'm feeling pretty nervous about this mission. I've never done anything like this before, to be honest, and I'm worried I might let you guys down today." This made Skadi laugh, but mainly to try and lift his spirits, and pet him reassuringly.
"Don't be silly. How many times do I have to tell you, we've done a lot of great things together. And if we managed to join KIZNA, of all groups, then we can do anything. You gotta have a lot more faith in yourself, OK pal?" Kenny could feel himself tearing up a bit, but he smiled at his partner, leaning down once again to give her one of his now-recognisable hair rufflings to his giggling partner.
"Thank you, Skadi. I'll keep that in mind during the mission." If there was anything that would possibly keep him afloat for this mission, it would be Skadi's never-ending supply of optimism. He needed it. A lot of it.
Then Bezil asked them what would be their first course of action. Skadi didn't hesitate to answer him, "Oh hell yeah, Bezil! I was born ready!" She exclaimed, clenching her fists in sheer excitement. Kenny, however, still felt a little nervous though.
"Yeah, I think we should get ourselves ready first, Bezil. Hikaru did mention there was a campsite outside, so maybe we should prepare first before we go in, sounds good?" He answered, as he and Skadi would follow him into the tent, the little sheep Digimon bounding from behind. Hopefully they'd find something useful for this little quest, and also ready themselves for the journey ahead. It was going to be dangerous, most likely, but if anything, he knew he had friends in close places.

Turned out, entering might be the right choice, as there are some stuff scattered about. The most important one is obviously foods. They're seem to be the ready-to-eat type that sadly one cannot take away. Unsurprisingly, they found Hikaru inside this tent, drinking tea while looking at the monitors set there. Yuuki is there on the corner, seem to work on his share of documents... no break for the leader it seems. He just looked up at them and waved before returning to his job.
"Hey, so looks like you guys wanted to prepare first. That's a sound decision too. Why don't you eat first before you go? Meanwhile I'll talk a bit about merits and demerits of briefing camps," Hikaru told the trio, pointing at the prepared meal. By no means it's luxurious. It's just bunch of salad, bread, sides of meat or fish, and fruits. By the way, there are no chairs and table set here sans one that Yuuki and Hikaru are using... so they have to make do with cushion and low table instead, where the food is prepared.
"So when it comes to setting up a briefing camp, the base, basically, usually the merit is you can use it as place to rest, and place to return back to. Sadly some mission does not have that leisure. You can get any info from this place before actually heading toward your goal. Basically, the idea of the briefing base,
But when your goal is time based, it's suggested that you just take what you feel are important, then heads right in. At times, when setting the camp is too time consuming, you won't even have any base. That's fine... but at that time you won't have luxuries where you can return to analyze whatever you find in the field in the base. That means you need to plan ahead with your team on the road.
Well, in this case you should treat this as a situation "where you can't come back to the briefing base after the initial visit". Treat it because you don't have the luxury of time. Speaking of which, as we're talking the time is ticking too. But you know? I wouldn't exactly call any of this as 'waste of time'. You got to fill your stomach, you got to hear something, although I have no idea if it's good lesson or not. A good KIZNA explorer does not waste time, nor they're hurrying too much that they missed important things! Remember that!"
"...by the way," Yuuki looked up from his documents pile. "...If you want to ask question or search around for useful object, you may. Considering that this is the base, anything here can be used for your convenience... but at the same time... because this is a training mission, with impromptu base, I don't feel there are that much of objects that you can take."
...There are some books here, mostly novels, might be Hikaru's doing. Some pertains to the labyrinth ecology and another is encyclopedia of poisons and how to handle it... there might be more.

Bezil was surprised to see the occupants of the tent, but smiled all the same. "Oh! Heya, dad" he said, smiling as he saw Hikaru sipping tea. The Dorumon offered them things to eat before they embarked on their mission. Bezil gratefully ate his share. While he did have a healthy breakfast, he did rather want to keep his energy to the maximum.
As the Gumdramon ate, he listened to the briefing. So, setting up a base before embarking on missions for KIZNA was advisable, but of course not always feasible. Still, Bezil nodded with acknowledgement. Owen had taught him how to find a good spot, pitch a tent, build a campfire and keep it safe for the time being. He also knew when it was probably not a good idea to make camp - such as when in enemy territory and there was nobody able to protect it.
After Bezil had finished eating, Yuuki said they could then search around for things they could use on their journey. Bezil thought carefully, rubbing his chin as he looked at the contents.
"Well, first of all, this is the Tyrant's Labyrinth, so I think we need to take a book that tells us some information about the forest..." he began. "An ecology one. What's edible, what's poisonous, what other kind of hazards we might need to face." But not too many. Books tended to be heavy, so they couldn't take too many.
What else... ah of course! "We should also take a book that can help us translate ancient digicode." Bezil continued. "We might know it now, but the ruins we might encounter could have an older version."
Next up, Bezil thought on basic survival tools. He looked to Hikaru. "Do we have any rope here, dad? We might need that too." Bezil knew from Owen that rope was a very useful tool for expeditions. "Oh yeah... if you have it, a map of the area would be nice, although I suppose we'd need one to be fairly accurate. A compass would be good too, since we can't see the sun or stars through the canopy."
Lastly, he thought of emergencies. "Ah, right... we probably need a first aid kit and emergency rations too, just in case we get into peril." Best come prepared. Bandages and emergency rations were very light after all. "Ah, and water bottles, Water's always good."
For the moment, that was all that Bezil thought they would need on this journey. Hopefully once they secured it all, they'd be set for the mission ahead.

It was to the duo's pleasant surprise that Yuuki and Hikaru happened to be at the tent, and as Yuuki waved at them while working on his documents, Kenny just smiled and waved back, Skadi more enthusiastically, "Hi Hikaru! Didn't think I'd see you in here today!" She said. Hikaru would respond by offering them lunch while briefing them on, well, briefing camps. While the food looked like nothing to write home about, they would still help themselves to some of the food, eating as much as they could to keep their energy up.
They would stay silent during the briefing, listening to Hikaru lecture them about the camps, including when to use them, how to use them, and the like. And they made sure they were paying attention, nodding to acknowledge whatever he said, however, Kenny could also not ignore the loud nagging voice in his head either. Oh, how he wanted to tell it to shut up right now. After that, as soon as they finished with their meal and Yuuki allowed them to look around, Bezil took incentive, searching around for everything he could.
Kenny wasn't as familiar with the Digital World as with everyone else here, so while he was trying to find some stuff as well, Bezil had it most of it covered, and as he mentioned what they needed, Kenny would try to pick them up and put them aside onto the low table to pack. During their search, Skadi smiled as Bezil mused, "Man, Bezil, your dads must've taught you really well." As Bezil would ask Hikaru about any useful tools, Skadi would add, "Wait, Hikaru, I think we also need a lanturn, just in case. Oh, and some sleeping bags, and a campfire kit too." While Kenny had never been camping in... ever, he did think that stuff was a good idea. He did do some brief studying beforehand, after all. Yet, he really wanted to help as much as the others were doing, he felt like he wasn't doing much, other than helping to pack.
Suddenly, a thought struck him; Bezil was trying to pack a lot of things with him, so why not he contribute a bit? He pulled out his D-Nexus and, subsequently, his barren Infini-Store, as he walked over to the fuzzy Gumdramon to tap him on the shoulder, in a bid to grab his attention, "Hey, Bezil? I have an empty Infini-Store we can use." He said, as he showed it to him, "We don't want to wear out our arms carrying all this now, do we?" Skadi would nod as well, agreeing with her tamer. With that, he and Skadi would help to start packing the stuff into the Infini-Store, because, if anything, at least they wouldn't have to be dragging everything around.

"That's smart," Hikaru commented. "Just look around there. I think I did put ecology. Speaking of which, I have no idea if hazardous items can be put inside Infini-Store, but you might want to purchase the adventurer set from the team shop. Its sample bag and gloves to pick it is KIZNA test team tested and approved, thus could protect you from hazard associated to it."
"Digicode perhaps not too needed," Yuuki quipped. "Doing things manually are fine, but don't forget you have D-Nexus. It could help you translating stuff. Of course there is no harm in doing things manually." Yuuki stood up and takes a really thick book. "Here's the key book I used for learning ancient Digimoji. You can borrow it if you're interested."
Hikaru meanwhile handed over the rope. It looked strong enough. "As for maps, well... that's your trial. You have to go in blind. Compass is build in D-Nexus, so you should be fine. First aid kits are over there," Hikaru pointed at a table "and water bottles... that's part of your trial, so no extras, heh. Emergency rations is also part of the trial, so no extras either. Lantern, campfire kits and sleeping bag, I thought you're told to pack for it already? Did... did you not?" Hikaru scratched his cheek.
"...Well, either way, if you guys didn't pack for it, well... we'll have issues, because we'll not supply you guys with those, and it's already in mission description," Yuuki said. "As reminder, if you guys left this tent and return again, you guys will be treated as giving up the job. Make sure you guys got everything sorted out, alright?"

Bezil grinned at Skadi's remark. "Thanks, and I sure hope so. Daddo Owen made sure I was near the top of my classes in survival and combat in the three years I was with him in Rosewood." the Gumdramon replied. He'd hate to dishonor that education by making bad calls here.
Kenny then offered the use of his infini-store. Bezil's yellow eyes lit up with delight. "Yeah! That sounds like that can be really useful!" he said.
But Hikaru mentioned that an infini-store was not a very good place to put hazardous items. Bezil's smile faded as he rubbed his chin in thought. "Yeah, of course. A hazardous thing could contaminate everything in there." he reasoned. Thankfully it seemed there was a workaround. KIZNA brand sample bags and personal protection equipment sounded really handy. "...we can buy those now?" he asked, hopefully.
Yuuki then said that the D-Nexus had a translation feature. Bezil didn't know that, and he was glad it was there, but, he also accepted the offer to borrow the ancient digimoji book too. "At worst, this is just extra weight. But at best, it can be a contingency plan." the Gumdramon reasoned with a smile. Perhaps it was all those evenings in his young childhood when Owen and Hikaru would let him sit on their laps and they'd read stories to him that made him always feel more comfortable with books? Still though, they couldn't carry too many with them. Books were heavy after all.
Hikaru then gave them the rope, but told them that they couldn't use maps. Bezil nodded in understanding, they'd be going into this blind, so they'd have to rely on their wits. No emergency kits either, so they'd have to rely on the land. "Okay, we'll go by what we read up in the ecology book then." the young furred dragon said, quickly maintaining an adaptive attitude.
But, it also seemed that they hit a small snag. Skadi asked for a lantern, campfire kit and sleeping bags, but Hikaru said that they should already have those. This was the first moment that made Bezil unsettled. Would they fail for not bringing those things here?
However, he calmed himself down a little and turned to his companions. "It'll be fine. I can light my tail on fire fairly easily, and can provide light and a cooking surface if we need it." he explained. "Plus daddo Owen taught me how to make a makeshift campsite. But sleeping bags though... well, thankfully it seems to be summer here in the forest so the nights won't be too cold, but, we might need to improvise some shelter if it rains. Plus, heh, I've inherited the floof of my fathers, if we really need it, I can help keep us all warm."
Bezil gave a smile back at his father. While they might have hit a small snag in not packing properly, Bezil saw alternatives and contingencies fairly quickly.
"Well, papa, since we forgot the sleeping bags, do you have any waterproof canvas we can use instead?" he asked. If so, he'd be grateful, there would be uses for that. Bezil knew how to make a bivouac after all in the case of heavy rain. If not, then he hoped he'd be able to improvise with leaves. The Gumdramon was not easily dissuaded from the mission in these conditions here.

It was a good thing that Kenny's Infini-Store idea was warmly received by Bezil, but disappointingly, Hikaru had shot that idea down, but not without reason; hazardous items could easily contaminate the rest of the stuff in a short amount of time, but did suggest a decent alternative; the KIZNA adventure kit. While Bezil did ask whenever they could buy it right here right now, Kenny had to give a little input himself, "Wait, what else is in that adventure set?" He added. It would be good to know, because the stuff inside would be more than worth the investment.
Sadly, while Bezil was indeed handed the rope, they weren't allowed to use maps or emergency kits. And like Bezil, Kenny and Skadi nodded understandingly. In turn, Skadi would be seeking to find and grab the ecology book to put into her tamer's backpack. But what about that little issue? Yeah, that was a little embarrassing, but not for the reasons you may think. While Bezil had explained what he could do to make up for it, Kenny pointed to his backpack when the Gumdramon finished, "Actually, I did pack a sleeping bag, my dad's old one, for me and Skadi to share," he pointed out, gesturing to his backpack, and I brought a flashlight with me, for one. I think Skadi was just trying to help you out there, Bezil. Sorry about the confusion, guys." He explained, causing the Valaismon to blush.
"I was just trying to help, that's all." She explained, rubbing her neck in embarrassment, making Kenny chuckle.
"That's OK, girl. And I'm sure Bezil appreciates the assistance anyways. Just make sure to ask next time, OK?" He reassured her, before continuing "Sadly, I couldn't find a camping kit, but Bezil's right. He can help us to improvise on that sort of stuff. But yeah. The waterproof canvas does sound like a good idea." While Kenny was not exactly built for camping, he could at least rely on Bezil for help when needed. Nevertheless, Kenny and Skadi would continue packing into the tamer's backpack when needed. Again, it was his dad's old backpack made for his camping days. Asking dad for a bit of help really did come in handy.

"Sadly no, i don't think so, it's there in the description. Team items are banned, but cards are allowed... at least not for this mission. Outside of it you can buy it, obviously. I think you'll have enough to purchase it by the time the mission ended," Hikaru commented. "Sorry about that, Bez. But what do you have to know is I don't think there is a need to buy that sort of thing... not yet at least. Either way... we don't have waterproof canvas sadly. We used that for making this tent. We do have some oils though... well, cooking oil and fuel oil, both of them. I'll allow you bring a small case of them about 5 liter would do, right? The ecology book meanwhile... will tell you the rest~"
What else is in adventurer's set? Hikaru pulled the advertisement brochure from under his kilt. "Let's see... uh... Advanced Exploration Kit: Price: 5000 bits KIZNA issued exploration set. Despite it's hefty price, it's a worth investment. It's a set of things that includes: No hand light: A small light that always floats near you as you explore. You don't even need to hold it Sample bag + gloves: Allow you to pick any sort of hazardous materials, also one with curses and seal it in special ziplock bag to be examined properly in lab. In total it can contain 20kg worth of material. Inside the bag, everything is rendered in stasis. Night Visor: For aiding your vision in the darkness Atmosphere Analyzer: Able to scans temperature, wind direction and speed, air content, moisture, and airborne hazard. Also works in the water. Light Up Markers: Special marker that leaves no mark, but can react with light from No Hand Light to reveal glow from surface you marked. Camping Packs: Your necessary camping packs, including tent, foldable chairs and stove.
Too long of list, basically a basic exploration kit pretty much. I kind of want to expand it somehow, but what do you guys think? Anyway, ahem... Is that all or do you have anything else to do or to ask? Remember, once you're out you're not allowed to go back in!"

It turned out waterproof canvas and an adventure kit would not be permitted. However, Hikaru said that they could make do with 5 liters of oil. Bezil grinned at that. "Hehe, that'd be great. Daddo taught me loads of ways to use it." he said. Oil could waterproof many things, and was handy in other situations too, whether it be for cooking, mechanical lubricant, fuel for fire or other purposes.
Hikaru then explained the adventurer's kit further. Bezil rubbed his chin, wondering what else would likely be needed for the most convenience. He noted the absence of one thing though.
"Rope." Bezil declared. "The adventurer's kit should have at least 100m of sturdy nylon rope. Not too thick that it's too heavy, but, it's vital for most camping situations." He was thankful for the length of rope they were allowed to have for the mission.
Bezil was then glad to hear that Kenny had a sleeping bag after all. "Ah, that's awesome! Well... I won't impose on asking to share yours unless it's an emergency, so as long as you guys are okay, that's fine with me."
Then Hikaru asked them if there was anything else that needed to be sorted out here. Bezil was about to say it was fine, but had one last question.
"Yeah, I do have one last query, dad." he said. "This objective of our mission, the chest at the end of the labyrinth that we can't open. What is its mass? Just... if it's more than 10kg, we'll probably have to construct a trolley or something to get it out of there safely."
He thought that was probably a vital detail that they should go over before starting. After all, it felt like something that Bezil might regret not knowing, so, he'd ask anyway.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the so-called 'Adventurer's Kit' wasn't going to be available, nor would be the potential waterproof canvas, but Hikaru did clarify that the cooking and fuel oil would be allowed, which Bezil seemed to relish positively. How he would be able to pull it off, Kenny and Skadi had not an idea, but Bezil being Bezil, he'd more than pull it off. But after Hikaru pulled out the brochure and read out the contents, Bezil had commented they needed a special rope for the mission. "Yeah, that sounds useful." Kenny agreed, before going to pack the rope. Frankly, the closest thing that Kenny had to 'camp' as a kid were these little lodges for up to 4 people. That somehow qualified for a camp.
It was to Bezil's pleasant surprise that Kenny revealing he had a sleeping bag on him. Kenny smiled as he walked over to Bezil and put a hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry. It's my dad's old sleeping bag. I'm sure it can fit all three of us inside. And besides, if it gets too cold, we can always huddle up together in it. Although, since you have your fire hammer tail thing there, I guess that wouldn't be much of a problem anyways."
"And we could always have an extra someone around to cuddle with as well." Kenny quickly rushed over to shush Skadi with his hand, lest she let out even more innocent but embarrassing comments for everybody and their dog to hear.
"Uh, yeah. She said 'huddle'. She defiantly said 'huddle'. See? She agrees with me." He laughed awkwardly, as he uncupped Skadi's mouth. It wasn't as embarrassing as her sleeping bag blunder, but it was kinda skirting on the line at this point.
Upon Hikaru asking what else they needed to deal with, Bezil asked about the mass of the chest in question., and whenever they needed to construct anything to lug it out. Immediately, an idea came to Kenny, as he approached Bezil again, this time gesturing Skadi to follow him. "Hey Bezil, if we do need to lug that thing out, rest assured, Skadi has her giant Canandenmon form on her. She's very strong, so if needed, she could probably carry it out all by herself."
"It's true!" Skadi chimed in, "I'm really strong. You don't have to worry about a single thing; if we do have to build the trolley, you just need to attach it to me so I can pull it out. Sound good, pal?" She winked at him. Neither had seen Bezil's higher level forms yet, so it would be too early to judge on whenever he could or couldn't carry it out simply, so better safe than sorry.
With a lot of the packing done, Kenny proceeded to swing his back across his back, "So, are we ready to go now? I think we've got all the things we need for this mission, but it's best we make really sure first." He said, looking at the Gumdramon. They weren't exactly going to leave until Bezil left, but they would follow him out, should he make his exit.
"Don't worry, Bezil!" Skadi saluted their unofficial leader of the mission playfully, "We won't let you down!" Skadi's never ending optimism and heroism was practically radiating from her body, but Kenny just twiddled his thumbs a little in worry. She might not let Bezil down, but she was a Digimon, a practical fighting machine. He, on the other hand, never properly camped before, and he feared that he would end up as dead weight for the journey ahead. He would try to help the best he could, but his nonexistent camping skills were starting to haunt him.

Objective of the mission, is it? "Let's see, the object is a chest within a chest. You're allowed to open it once, but whatever inside is for me. I unfortunately have no idea what's inside, but should you aim your D-Nexus to it, it'll definitely react to the chest. That's how you know how you picked up the right one. You may think this is unprofessional, but at times there are cases where you have to improvise how to finish your mission. If everything is given right at the start, then how we can assess you fairly?"
"That and... well, we wanted to give you two a worthy test. Back when we're still no name organization, we might be allowed to run free with whatever we want, but as the organization grows more and more, newer standards should be applied... and honestly, today you three are pretty much our first tester in this new curriculum. We picked Tyrant's Labyrinth because we can control the factors easier, but at the same time there are factors beyond our control too. The mix between controllable and uncontrollable make it easier for us to set the stage for you guys." Yuuki explained.
"...Well, if there are nothing else, time to go!"
As they return to the entrance, they would see that about half an hour has passed. It's midday at the moment, and the entrance... doesn't change, pretty much. They'll be in sight of labyrinth like tall walls of plants. Based on how almost no gaps there are, it's safe to assume that they're impossible to be passed through by force. Destruction of the forest is definitely forbidden, so they're not allowed to willy nillily uses fire moves that can cause disaster.
Now, while they're in entrance, and not far enough, what would they do?

Bezil gave a grin back at Kenny as he said it was fine if he shared the sleeping bag too. While the furred Gumdramon thought he'd be okay without the need to state that, he was rather touched by how much Kenny cared for his comfort in the trials ahead. Bezil would be sure to return that for both him and Skadi.
He chuckled at the slip of Skadi's wording and simply pretended that the word 'huddle' was said. Either way, he was okay with it all.
Then, Bezil's fears about the mass of the treasure were put to rest by the revelation that Skadi had a powerful evolved form that could probably do the trick. That was certainly better than the mental image of the three of them slowly pushing a giant chest they weren't allowed to open through the forest.
Bezil listened to Hikaru's explanation of how to properly retrieve the objective. "Alrighty, papa, we'll do our best to do it right." he answered.
Without further ado, and with them now fully prepared for their operation, Bezil left the tent, ready to begin the mission. The first task, it seemed, was to enter the labyrinth and hunt for the treasure. Since they were forbidden to damage the forest or use maps, Bezil instead removed his D-Nexus from his vest, activating the compass program.
"I guess our first step is to enter the maze." he reasoned with Kenny and Skadi. "Rather than go in blind, we should use our compasses to keep our bearing to make sure we're going in the right direction and don't get too lost. We should also stick together, so we can respond to obstacles as they turn up." he realized he was probably coming across as a little too bossy here, so he withdrew a little. "I mean... if you guys are okay with that plan too?" he offered for some input from them.

So apparently, according to Hikaru, the object in question was a chest inside a chest, and the only way to tell if it was the chest was if any of their D-Nexus' had reacted to it. And, yes, Skadi's Canandenmon form was pretty tough in nature, having a lot of horsepower to her own name. At least they could tell which was which, at least, and Kenny and Skadi would listen thoroughly to the leader's explanation about the how and the why. To Kenny, he hated to admit it, but it felt weird to be the guinea pig here.
With preparation all wrapped up (well, not without our dynamic duo doing one last double check first, just in case), Kenny and Skadi, with all their supplies in hand and the bag firmly on the young man's back, followed the Gumdramon out of the tent, the Valaismon waving goodbye in the process with a grin to Hikaru. Ending up in front of the entrance of the giant forest, the three of them would scan the entrance thoroughly; a lack of gaps presence prevented them from simply walking in without tons and tons of brute force, and destroying the forest was a huge no-no, obviously.
That's when Bezil would pull out his D-Nexus and switch on the compass, before explaining what they would do. The compasses would be used to ensure they would be going the right way, before suggesting it would be best for them to stick together. Despite him asking immediately afterwards if that was OK, Bezil had made a immensely good point.
"Actually, Bezil, you're right. I think we should stick together, just in case we get attacked. At least for now." He explained, "We do need all the firepower we can, and if anything just comes up to us and tries to attack, we could at least hopefully outnumber it 2 to 1. I mean, you look more suited for aerial combat and Skadi here's more suited for land combat." Skadi nodded in agreement, remembering her battle with Valt and how he, someone capable of flight, could simply dodge by flying up.
The Valaismon walked over to Bezil directly with a friendly smile, and went to throw an arm around him in a friendly manner, "Besides, you know the rules of KIZNA, right Bezil? 'Don't work alone'? We're a team, we need to stick together and work together if we want to complete this mission." Letting go of him, she gave him a beaming grin, "Now do your dad proud and show us the way, leader!" With that, Kenny and Skadi would follow him willingly, Skadi with her own D-Nexus in hand with her own compass out.
Kenny, however, had a bit of a different idea. "Wait, Bezil," He said as they walked along, bringing out his own D-Nexus, "Mind if I scan you quickly? Besides, I think it would be best to see what you can actually do, just in case." If Bezil agreed, Kenny would immediately be scanning him, to try and find any abilities that he could pull off. Yes, he already knew he could use ice and fire attacks, but the big question here was how?
Skadi, on the other hand, was more focused on lookout. She would constantly look everywhere within distance while staying close to the group, and it was not just for the proper gap entrance either.. Just in case something did show up to make them it's lunch, Skadi would at least be able to warn everybody beforehand.
Kenny uses the Improved Scanner on Bezil to learn his abilities.
Improved Scanner: An improved scanner that subtly displays a Digimon's combat information on your screen. If given a post to clearly scan a Digimon, you learn their name, attribute, type, and family, along with a quick description and two of their signature moves.
